From the upcoming Secrets of the Gates Mansion soundtrack.
Lyrics under the cut.
Reflect my heart, I saw an angel in a noose
"Bruise"
(('Rachel (Broken)'))
But the barbed wire, it was sort of loose
With a stillborn cherub in her arms and how she held...
She wasn't cut, she wore a necklace of her bruise
The pearls of pain that she put to use
Bruise, bruise, bruise, bruise, bruise
With a stillborn cherub in her arms and how she held the little thorn to keep her warned
With a stillborn cherub in her arms and how she held...
Love is a nail
Always too late
When you're impaled
The pain of that
The rope of trust
Hangs you til more
And when it's still
Until you're dead
Until you're dead
Until you're dead
Until you're dead
Until you're dead

Sigh.
Marilyn Thornhill's plans started BEFORE Wednesday's physical appearance at Nevermore. Thornhill knew she was coming--Weems had to have told her to prepare for her arrival, since yanno...students don't just pop in out of the blue (even though the show's pace makes that illusion for viewers). They had to special order her a uniform. Her arrival at Nevermore had to have had a backdrop of at least two weeks before the show's intro scenes.
Thornhill, upon learning that Wednesday Addams was coming and going to be rooming with Enid once she arrived, then proceeded to unlock Tyler and had him kill those THREE hikers in the woods (the two that were killed a week prior, and then the dude who was shown in Episode 1). She told him of the plans to resurrect Crackstone using Wednesday Addams. If you do go back to watch their initial interaction, Tyler didn't seem surprised that her name was Wednesday.
Even his giving her her father's file was a means to manipulate her into staying. He sure as Hell wasn't going to actually drive his master's key to a train station to shuffle her off somewhere. It was all manipulation.
He needed to keep her at Nevermore and alive so that Thornhill could use her for the Crackstone resurrection.
The actual side story is Tyler's human feelings for her. It's yet another old trope, the "bully/killer/kidnapper/bad guy falls in love with his target". And in Episode 8, he made it clear what happened to him, and there was no indication that he was coming back from it, treating her like shit in the woods before he transformed and was about to gut her. Like Weems said, they're too violent and unpredictable. It is a good guess that in the beginning, Hydes are confused and terrorized by their actions until it starts to become pleasurable (like he described to Wednesday). There's a reason why Hydes were banned from Nevermore...if the outcasts can't even deal with them, then they are a creature that can't be tamed once they've begun killing at a regular rate. Hyde Psychopathy trumps human feelings (again, evidenced by how he treated her in the woods before Enid intervened).
If we are to give the storyline any integrity, this is how it's done. Otherwise Episode 8 (the whole dang storyline actually) would just end up being nonsensical garbage.
Tyler saved Wednesday for real?
okay so I'm going to try and explain this the best way I can. Okay so remember when wednesday went to save rowan only to find out he was after her and then he attacked her and tyler saved wednesday by k*lling rowan?
Okay now you know how a lot of people just assume the only reason he saved her was because she was the key and Marilyn needed her alive.
I'm gonna tell you right now why I don't think that's the case. For one if we just assume that the entirety of episode 1 tyler had no clue who wednesday was, which would explain why he'd even agree to help her leave town in the first place. Then there's no way he could've been under Thornhills orders then to save her.
Second the MAIN reason I don't think those was orders is because of what tyler said in like the next episode. Wednesday explains to tyler that the monster didn't attack her and Tyler genuinely seems amazed at that. It sounded like he was thinking, " Wow I wanted to save you but I didn't think I actually could." Kind of wording he used there.
People usually overlook that small line dismissing it as him acting, but if it's one thing that rings to be true for Tyler is it seems Tyler's real personality broke through on multiple occasions, and this to me was the very first clue. Besides the one when he literally tells wednesday he wished he could leave with her.

There is a lot of parallel between Enid and Tyler. There situations with their parents didn't treat either one kindly. But Tyler became a bully where Enid became caring.
Every story beat involving Tyler shows Wednesday making the wrong move where the ones with Enid have her making the right move. Yeah Tyler was the bad guy so duh, but from a story standpoint, the push and pull between Enid and Tyler is great.
She involves Tyler leading to the guys at the fair coming after her, leading to bumping into Rowan and then the Hyde killing Rowan. She shows Faulkner's journal to Tyler, he distracts her, Thing gets stabbed and they lose the journal. Wednesday goes to the dance with him and leaves Eugene unprotected, and the Hyde gets him. She brings him to the Gates house, he scares them off as the Hyde.
~As opposed to~
She asks Enid about Rowan, leading to discovering the nightshades library. She helps during the Poe Cup and has a vision pointing her in the right direction. Switching assignments on Outreach day let her protect Eugene and push her towards figuring out who Goody was. Enid helped her get out of the school to go to the Gates mansion, and she got the garage door open and she found Laurel's room, before the Hyde could scare them off. Enid pointed out Tyler was closing the Weathervane the night she kissed him and had the vision of him being the Hyde. She saved Wednesday from the Hyde.
There are other parallels between the two besides their push and pull in the story. Wednesday cared about both of them, expressed herself more to both of them. They both took her to Crackstones crypt for her birthday. They have the same scar on opposing sides of there face. I'm sure there is more.
Tyler was always the negative choice. Enid was always the positive one. I think Tyler would bring her down a darker path where Enid makes her a better person.

"I'm in. And no charge. Consider it a freebie."
"Why?"
[Tyler Galpin had no control over who manipulated Hyde. He had no idea or any sort of training in controlling his own powers. As a normie he was neglected by his father and found solace in the lies Thornhill fed him. If his dad had ever tried to communicate with him rather than being scared of what his son would become, he'd be in a different place. What he was made to do was not his fault. He did not choose to kill people. He was just a teenager trying to be a better person, trying to live his life peacefully. He was haunted by the pain of the people Hyde killed, and when he's telling Wednesday about it, you can see the mask almost slip. And that's all I have to say.]

When I see people recalling Tyler's crimes it makes me laugh. Yes, Tyler killed people. And ? Do you think that makes it impossible to have redemption ? Something tells me this kind of person isn't used to enemies-to-lovers romances in fiction. And then, people forget the whole context around why Tyler committed these murders, namely that he was forced by a psychopath who awakened the Hyde in him, also amounting to a monstrous 2nd personality that she enslaved to let him do what she wanted. We are more of a victim than a master killer and/or manipulation. Yes, because many still like to convince themselves that Tyler never loved Wednesday. People love to forget to think. Literally, it's easy to understand that Tyler has no idea that Wednesday was his mistress' target when he met her. Many Wylers understood this long before the Tyler actor's statements. Between his attitude and the fact that he tried to help her leave town, it seems obvious. And then, without forgetting all the times or during the show, Tyler looks at Wednesday completely in love when she is not looking. Who would he pretend to be for? The spectator? Wednesday isn't the kind of show that requires deep thought, it's pretty standard. So I worry about people who don't understand Tyler's character. Including one of my own friends who is however... very good in her way of thinking about many very complex things. So, wtf ? Also, why do people act like Wednesday could never forgive Tyler ? He has very extenuating circumstances, not to mention that she likes to protect the underdog and that Tyler is the ultimate outcast, even among outcasts. Yes, he tried to kill people she loves, but ultimately they are alive. And again, there are extenuating circumstances. Why couldn't she actually forgive again? I doubt she has such a special attachment to Tyler's other victims that she would never forgive him. It's stupid. She didn't care about these people. And once again, the real killer in the story isn't even Tyler. Tyler was basically just a puppet. Let the antis Wyler and Typer Galpin go fuck themselves frankly.

Beautiful sketches by @allium-cepa-39
The Hyde ones are so DEEP. I mean I can totally hear the Hyde hunting Tyler when he is happy. It’s wonderfully tragic.

For reference about what i said about Enid's werewolf height the other day, this is how crazy her size is in wednesday's description in the novel and i hope SO MUCH they never change it cause it's both fun and funny as fuck

Example 2:

Example 3:

And now the side by side with my favorite werewolves one of them having until now the title of biggest werewolf
Tumblr media
PLEASE NETFLIX THIS IS SO FUCKING FUNNY IT OPENS SO MANY POSSIBILITIES, KEEP IT, like, bring it into the show, also because the novelization as many others more likely than not was based on the show's early development and then still got approved in the end means that despite the weird ass golden retriver we got they were probably really going for a horror inducing werewolf in the finale, in the final side by side specifically if she was on all fours like in the show she would still be around Van Helsing's own height, this is insane, can my fellow werewolf nerds come talk about this we got a gold mine here on teenage show territory and i need more
