Things with me and K are great! 😊

I liked K for a long time, but our relationship became so serious so fast! I was never scared by it because I trusted K completely ❤️. Marriage was big change for us and it was overwhelming. But K was (and still is!) just so supportive of me, and that’s what made the transition go smoothly. I knew in my heart that my love and trust for K goes on endlessly and with him, I can get through anything 🥰. That’s what I think marriage is, a union that makes both people stronger.

Piers can hear Leon screaming even from where he sits in the cement-walled cell; horrible, raspy cries that break raggedly and trail off as they torture him again for what must be the fifth day in a row. His own body still aches from this morning's beating, electrical burns from the high-powered cattle prods they'd used on him yesterday stretching painfully when he shifts. He flinches as another cry cuts through the air, harsher than the last, muscles tensing when it ends so abruptly that its source could only have passed out... or been strangled, or dunked underwater, or really, any myriad of horrible, silencing things.

Piers tries not to think about it.

Silence buzzes against his ears as Piers shivers and closes his eyes, the distant sound of footsteps soon growing louder and louder until Piers can hear the telltale screech of the cell door unlocking and knows they're bringing Leon back. Faint, pained whimpers are audible over the din, two large men barging in the moment it's open to dump Leon's battered body on the cement unceremoniously, limbs flopping to the side as he lands hard on his back. He's concerningly limp, and Piers' hands are on his shoulders before the men even have a chance to lock the cell again.

"It's just me," he soothes when Leon groans low in his throat, head lolling backwards until Piers settles it in his lap to prop it up and cradle it away from the floor. A bloodied, trembling hand lifts up from Leon's side, fingers grasping blindly in the air until Piers intertwines their palms and pulls Leon's hand close enough to plant a kiss on his knuckles. Glassy eyes slit open at the touch, sweat gleaming on Leon's forehead as he attempts to shift and whines in agony instead. Piers tuts worriedly, placing the back of his hand delicately on Leon's bare, bruised collarbone. "Your fever's gotten worse."

"Tellin' ya it's nothin'," Leon slurs out hoarsely, chest shuddering as it rises and falls in an uneven rhythm. He tilts his head to the side, jaw clenched as he winces. "It's probably just th' stress."

Piers reaches for the bandages wrapped around Leon's unclothed thigh, just below the bloodied edge of his boxers, grimacing when he lifts them to see the inflamed, oozing wound from when they'd first been captured. BOW claws are a bitch to keep clean at the best of times---without antibiotics, or fresh fabric to change out the dressings, Leon will need to rely on his immune system alone to carry him through the infection. It had begun several days ago now, and his skin is still burning up.

"We can't keep doing this," Piers whispers, Leon's laboured breaths echoing over the stone. There's a dirtied blanket in the corner of the cell that he'll move Leon to in a moment so that he can rest, but Piers' limbs have suddenly gone just as jellied and exhausted as Leon's. "It's going to kill you, and I won't be far behind. We have to---to get out of here, or at least figure out what they're looking for."

Leon's bare legs kick aimlessly in a sluggish attempt to distract himself from the pain that must be blossoming from every part of his body, not a single inch of skin left unblemished or unabused. They'd tried water torture yesterday, Piers' own lungs still aching from the strain. Peeling nails the day before that. Where does it end?

"Mm," Leon hums, eyes already slipping closed. Piers is worried about the sickly cast to his features, eyes sunken and cheeks flushed. He strokes Leon's cheek as the man goes almost entirely slack, lashes fluttering uselessly as he tries and fails to stay awake.

"Get some rest," Piers says, hearing the hallway door clang distance, the men surely preparing to return and take him for his own session in an hour or two. They like to start with Leon because he's already ailing and can't fight back, the sick fucks. "I'll watch the door."

🤔 Are there any new characters you want to write about?

YES, I REALLY REALLY want to write some introspective Misa fic. Mostly focusing on her trauma & melancholy emptiness, but with hints of implied remisa & internalized comphet in the background. No concrete ideas yet, but thoughts are brewing~

🫘 Spill the beans. What's a new project you're doing this year?

Hanahaki Light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am determined to make this fic happen, even if it takes the whole year. I've finished plotting Light's emotional journey & know how it's going to end, so now it's just a matter of figuring out how everything fits in with the events of part 2 of DN. Also currently at the stage where I'm trying to stop the ideas from ballooning any more than they already have... I've learned my limit the hard way, & if it gets any bigger than this I know I'm going to get burnt out or lose my drive, and then the fic will never see the light of day. Crossing my fingers that that doesn't happen 🤞.

💖 What is your primary writing goal for this year?

My primary writing goal every year is to write 2 original short stories that I am proud enough of to try to submit for publishing, and to write at least 1 fanfic. In the past the main critique I have received has been "rich prose & characters, but not enough plot to justify them". Which is honestly totally true... for both my original work AND fan work. I am fully aware that I have been trying to get away with being a tone-piece-only girlie 😅. So I think this year, I will adjust my goal to 2 original short stories WITH PLOT, and 1 fanfic WITH PLOT.

How did you get close to K? How did you both know that you were getting attracted to each other? Do you have any advices to speak to a tc?

When I first met K, I was a sophomore and I had a small crush on him. Despite this, we barely interacted and I was too shy to initiate 😓. It wasn’t until he offered private tutoring to me later on that we really connected. It helped that his subject (English 📚 ) was also the one that I most excelled in. The tutoring gave me the opportunity to see him one on one, and me being interested in his area of study led to us talking more personally.

For a while after that, we were just friends. Us having similar interests (not just English, but also music taste, art, literature, etc.) helped me be friends with him. In time, we naturally grew closer 😊. But even with me and K, it took a lot of time to become romantic at all, and many times I was convinced he just didn’t like me that way 😔. I knew K respected me as a friend, but I didn’t know his romantic feelings until I confessed to him. I was honestly shocked 😳!

I’m not great at advice, so excuse me if it sounds generic 😅.

-Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! It doesn’t have to be crazy. Just saying one little thing a day can go a long way and help you get more comfortable talking to them. 😉

-If the tc runs any clubs, electives or activities at your college, try participating. This gives you more time with them and gives you a chance to interact with something they like. 👍 Even office hours can give you a chance to just be around them and get more comfortable.

-Listening and remembering is an obvious one. Most people feel flattered when you remember the little details.

-In my experience, it helps not to make romantic things the only priority. 👯 I think the best partners are also the best friends! It also takes some of the pressure off of you when you try talk to them.

-This might not work every time, but try being eye catching 👀. This doesn’t necessarily mean dressing sexy or high-effort (though I suppose that might work 😂), it can also mean wearing an unusual color, doing your hair a different way for a day, having cute pins on your bag. Wearing things pertaining to your interests (like a band tee) can be an easy way of finding out what you have in common with your tc.

Hmm… by definition? No. For mine and Zero’s comedic purposes, we ironically dub them a ‘toxic yuri couple’, but just for meme sake😂😂

Nil and 02 are not and never will be a couple, sorry anon😭

I personally like drawing the two in scenarios and situations that just barely are on the edge of being considered romantic, but then abruptly pulling it back with either comedy or edginess😂 Example; 02 and Nil ‘have a child’ together, but the child was only created by 02 growing a connection with Nil, and thus vomiting out an egg (the child) as a physical result of their bond, furthermore the egg is literally a part of 02’s soul😂😂🥲

Furthermore, 02 is an alien. She has no idea how romance, platonic relationships, or any relationships in general work. Canonically, she doesn’t identify as anything (sexuality or identity wise, I mean). So it’s hard to say if she ever would actually have romantic feelings for anyone. However, if she was human who understood emotions and sexuality and such, I think she would identify as panromantic.

Also, the only thing we know about Nil (identity wise) is that they identify as demigirl using they/them pronouns. As stated on Zero’s CharacterHub. If you want to know more about Nil, check out @devilcat210 for that information 🌝💖💖💖
