tell me about nightcrawler!reader !!!!

cait I just realized this is your side blog that makes so much more sense 😂😂

So I mean Nightcrawler as in the 2014 Jake Gyllenhaal movie where Lou is a nightcrawler, aka someone who listens to police scanners in order to go to scenes of crimes or accidents and take photos in order to sell to news outlets. the actual term is called being a stringer, but I thought that wasn't as catchy– but I also hadn't watched the X-Men movies yet when I started it– so the name is a wip 😅

Basic summary is that reader had something happen to her in her old city/town and moved to New York to start fresh. She winds up meeting Bucky and it's grungy and angsty and that's about as far as I've gotten with it. Definitely going to revisit soon but it's more concept than outline ATM.

Here's a lil snippet:

Your hand is starting to sweat, slipping on the handle of your knife.  “My turn,” he mutters. “The hell are you doin’ up here?”  You pinch the bridge of your nose. You’re not wanting to do this right now. “People watching,” you answer sarcastically. “My turn. Are you gonna hurt me?” Bucky scoffs, almost offended. “Wh- no?”  You nod slowly and loosen your grip.  “Are you gonna hurt me?” “No, not now, anyway,” you shrug, taking your sweaty hand out of your pocket, wiping it on your jacket. Bucky sniffs a laugh and slowly steps forward closer to you, crouching and focusing on the city in front of you. “Then what are you doin’ up here, then?” You sigh and shake your radio. His face pinches in confusion.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

Most obviously: his (questionable) moral compass, that's for certain. I also very much enjoy the religious themes in his characterization since I'm Christian myself (I'd randomly drop bible references w/ him lol) ^^. Plus his debatably irrational desire for order- the belief that a single person must handle it all by himself- it's intriguing to witness to say the least. I appreciate depictions of extreme actions performed by "good people" in fictional media :D

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

It'd probably be a surprise to my mutuals if I said that I see myself in him given how wacky and clownish I am, but it's true. I've made numerous mistakes wherein I believe that controlling the situation would make everyone be more at peace and happy— but my beliefs are not everyone’s reality. I destroy myself in the process of keeping everything and everyone together. At the end of the day, a branch that does not bear fruit is a branch that much be cut off. Whether it's me or them doesn't matter. Branching off is both freeing and depressing, and "someday" in that new environment, I keep hoping it will be okay. If that does not what Sunday goes through, then I don't know what does lmaoooo. He quietly grieves that loss. Deep down, he's still the little fledgling he used to be even if he had lost parts of himself (such as his love for sweets for example), and I take comfort in that. But I don't 100% kin this man and he isn't my favorite character at all lmao pls do not take this the wrong way I'm closer to Gepard or Reca if anything-

“Wow…. Yet another gift? You sure you aren’t getting tired of them?” A peer of Teru’s questioned as he stared at the gift bag that was left on his desk. He stared back at them and smiled.

“Jealous, are we?” He asked with a smile. Currently, he was sporting a necklace made by his partner. His partner was notorious for gifting him many things. Why in the bag, there was fresh cookies, a knitted sweater, a clay painted heart, and a scrapbook. His partner, you, gave him so many things… they all laid carefully in his room. To be admired. To be worn. To be cherished.

“No I’m just…. How do you own so much stuff? Like…. Are you able to keep every single thing?!”

“Well of course I am. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn’t?” Teru smiled and picked up the bag and looked at the peer in question, “Now if you’ll excuse me…” He went off, to find his partner.

He made his way outside, a plethora of people talking as they looked at him and his bag, while he did so. He found you standing outside, trying to attempt to hide something as best as you could. He watched and smiled, walking closer. He was almost like a cat with the way he walked. Quietly, carefully…. Almost like he was meaning to scare you.

Teru put a gentle hand on your shoulder, making you jump slightly as you turned your head back to look at him. “Well hello there, darling.”

“Teru! Hi!” You smiled as you turned around, still keeping something hidden behind your back. Teru tried to look over to try and see what it is, but you made sure it was hidden nice and well.

“Darling? What are you hiding?”

“You’ll see in a moment! Tell me what you thought of your surprise!” You smiled as you walked closer to him, slightly elevating yourself to be closer to his lips. He smiled and kissed your head gently.

“They were all very thoughtful, like always, darling.” Teru smiled and ran a hand through your hair with his free hand, “Thank you, Y/N. I appreciate it every time…”

“Welllllllllllll….” You smiled as you pulled out what was behind your back. A stitched teddy bear….. you could tell it was home made based on the stitching job. Some of the threads were still hanging off—not yet cut off and the right eye wasn’t sewed perfectly on.

Teru stared for a moment, marveling in the work and craftsmanship of the bear. He smiled and looked at you, watching as you messed with your necklace. “You made this?”

“You know it! Finished it in class!” You smiled and hugged onto his arm. “You think it looks good? I couldn’t tell because it was my first time ever but I really wanted to go all out for you…”

“Oh darling…. It’s perfect.” Teru kissed your head and smiled at you with a soft sigh, “It’s perfect….. like everything you have for me….”

“Yay!! I’m glad!!” You exclaim with excitement, looking at him with the brightest smile ever. That smile. That’s why he loved everything you made him. Sure, it was nice to know he was cared for because of these gifts…. But it was also because it made you so happy. And it made him happy to know that you spent all this time and dedication on something you loved to do.

After a moment, you both began to walk home. He dropped you off at your home, walking home himself after. He made it to his house, greeting his younger brother and sister as he walked to his room to unwind.

Upon entering his room, one would see many gifts scattered around. On his desk you could see every claw creation, every matching necklace and bracelet, and paper flower bouquets you’ve ever made for him, on his walls every hand drawn card you’d ever handed him, a corner of his room filled with old cookie tins that used to be filled with the delicious treats you’d given him, and on a hook on the back of his door with every knitted scarf you’ve ever made him. He had everything. Every. Single. Thing.

He gently placed down the bear on his bed, placing the bag down and rummaging through it quietly to find where each part went. Up went another hand made card on the wall, down went another clay creation and freshly baked goods on his desk. Up went the knitted sweater on the book, down went the scrapbook onto his bed next to the bear.

He glanced around the room and smiled, sitting down. He messed with his necklace for a moment before grabbing the scrapbook, leisurely skimming through the book as he hummed a gentle tune to himself. The pictures you had managed to capture of you and him were cute. Just a compilation of your dates and study halls together. But it was still so damn sweet and he loved it so much.

He laid down on his bed for a moment, hugging onto the bear as he looked up to see the string of pictures of you and him on his ceiling. He smiled and took a deep breath, getting up again to place the scrapbook on his desk.

He was starting to lose room in his room, but he didn’t care. He didn’t care one bit. He loved every gift you ever made him and he refused to throw them away. He refused to ever put them away so the world couldn’t see them.

That would just be disrespectful to his darling, wouldn’t it?

One day in base, it was just all the bots, including Raf and Miko. Bulk, Bee, Smokescreen, and Wheeljack were just playing some basketball (I forgot what they called it so I’m just gonna call it basketball-) with a ball of scrapped metal while Arcee, Raf, and Miko watched. Ratchet, our sunshine, was just doing some random stuff. Optimus and Ultra Magnus were just doing important stuff.

Just then, everyone was surprised by June and Jack. “Hey everyone!” June called out, smiling and waving. Jack would’ve done the same, buttttttt….something, more like someone, was in his hands. “Hey guys.” Jack said with a flat tone.

“WOAH. IS THAT A BABY??” Miko yelled, running over to Jack and BEGGING to hold it. “GIVE ME GIVE MEEEE!!” Jacks eyes widened and he quickly turned the baby away from Miko, “woah woah woah, calm down Miko!..” Raf then walked towards them, “where’d you get it, Jack?” He asked, “First off, he’s a he. Second, [story where they got the baby bc I’m too lazy to think abt where they could’ve got it</3]” The bots then started to walk towards the humans and the first that spoke was Smokescreen, “is that a human sparkling?? Gosh, they’re so small!!” “Of course they are, it’s a human!” Ratchet said with a slightly sarcastic tone.

“What’s his name??” Miko asked. “His names Ryan.” Jack answered. “Ryan huh? Kinda sounds like Orion..!” Bulkhead said, making everyone stare at Optimus. “I have no similarities with this human sparkling” said Optimus.

a couple hours goes by, and Jack was still caring for Ryan. Eventually he got hungry, so Jack went off and gently sat him on the couch and said he’d go get him something to eat/drink. As Ryan waited on the couch he was curious about his surroundings, I mean, there’s a ton of alien robots around him!! Who wouldn’t be curious? So, he started to babble loud, loud enough for some bots to hear. The first ones to hear was the boys playing basketball.

All four of them surrounded Ryan and looked down at him confusingly, “uh.” Started Bulkhead, “What do you think he wants?..” “not sure.” Wheeljack answered back. “What if he wants to play basketball with us??” Smokescreen suggested, taking the metal scrapped ball over Ryan’s head like he was gonna drop it on him. “BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEPPPDJXJSJSJ” (SMOKESCREEN PLS DONT. AHHHHHH) Bee screamed, slapping the ball out of smokescreens hand. “Hey! What gives??” Smokescreen said. “I don’t think you’re supposed to offline the thing.” Wheeljack said, blinking at smokescreen. “oh. We’re not?..” said smokescreen. Arcee was just watching the whole thing disappointed 🤦🏻‍♀️

Next, Ryan got ratchets attention. “You human sparklings are quite…squishy looking..” Ratchet said as he looked closely at Ryan. “What if I just…” he then gently used one digit and squish Ryan’s stomach, making the little baby giggle🥹 Ratchets optics shimmered, “oh primus..” he’s now in full mother hen mode. He is going to care for little Ryan forever now. 😭

Last, he got Optimus and Ultra Magnus’s attention. Ultra magnus was reciting some boring ass rules to Ryan as Optimus just watched dumbfounded. “Do you understand, soldier.” Ultra magnus said. “Ultra Magnus..I don’t think the sparkling can understand you..” Optimus said.

the concept of RED and BLU spies is eating at me.... EXAAACTLY YOU GET IT !!! for red spy, working for mann co is as good as retiring on a remote paradise: a really damn good pay, what is basically immortality, and getting to hang out with people who won't backstab him (as far as he knows, at least). but for blu spy, on the other side of things, the island is just remote and there's no way off of it that he can see, so he's sticking to what he has.

I kinda realised that Mr Komos' song, True Monster Heart follows the same beat as the Monster High Fright song, but the lyrics are like the corrupted version of the original.

Monster High Fright is about accepting

True Monster Heart is about rejecting

Kinda interesting when you think about it

AHHHHHH WHEN I SAW I GOT AN ASK RELATED TO THIS I FREAKED OUT DFGHNBGVFDSF TY FOR GIVING ME SOMETHING TO RAMBLE SOME MORE ABOUT ANON FOR REAL! (Also sorry for the late response, this post has been developing in my drafts for like at least a week now dfgfhng)

I absolutely agree with the conflicting messages between the two songs! I know the song focuses on the story of this universe's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the main verses, but the main focus of the song is that message of rejection of anything and everything human.

Also, because of the Jekyll/Hyde bits, it could represent the duality of where the story starts and ends in its interpretation of a "true monster heart." Instead of Mr. Hyde's human-ness making his heart "untrue," it was his utter rejection of & research into ridding himself of his Jekyll, as well as his hiding of the truth in the first place that caused him to be found out and exiled.

His heart being "untrue" had nothing to do with the fact he was half-human, because if it were, then Clawdeen and Komos's presence in and of itself within the school would've triggered its self-destruction. That was proven as a false interpretation by the story in the movie, so it's self-explanatory. A true monster heart is one of self-acceptance, despite one's flaws or differences. That's what Mr. Hyde, and Mr. Komos thereafter, had neglected to realize before Clawdeen proved the point.

Though, I've listened to both True Monster Heart and Fright Song a few times back-to-back, to try and get where you're thinking as far as the beat, but I don't hear it unfortunately (unless you meant the tempo of the song, then yes they do follow the same 120 beats per minute!).

The closest thing I can think of as far as melodic parallels between the songs is the chanting sections. The Fright Song chant is much quicker in the way it's sung compared to the chant in True Monster Heart, however. The whole of Fright Song's chant goes in 16 beats/4 measures, whereas True Monster Heart's chant takes twice as long at 32 beats/8 measures (I was a band/choir kid lol). It's mainly due to how the song kinda drags out the point, and it definitely feels like a nod to Fright Song for sure. Fright Song's chant is only there because 4/5 of the main ghouls were fearleaders, so it was sort of characterizing the cast before actually showing their characters in the webisodes.

Fun little headcanon/ramble that I forget if I ever mentioned about Fright Song, but with Holt Hyde being released in the 1st Signature wave with the rest of the the main ghouls and all, I think it was because he's intended to be the singer of the rap section before any subsequent content with the character was released (No offense but I don't think Holt DJs because he's a good singer sdfgbfds). This would line up with his current crush in canon with Frankie, as well as his former crush on Draculaura from either the diaries or books, maybe both? I forget. :'D Also I feel like Holt wouldn't hesitate to call Cleo vile immediately after saying she's charming either, he's very direct with his words. (I also interpret Jackson/Holt as bisexual because Deuce is included in the rap I DON'T CARE Y'ALL IT MAKES SENSE!)

Also I always interpreted the howl-like sound at the end of the rap as "Holt ran outta time/battery power for his music and transforms back to Jackson as it transitions to the rest of the song." It kinda works with how the beat kinda drops down with the howl, like a TV being shut off or something idk.

Ghoulia also debuted with Signature Wave 1 but she's only in like a second of the music video in the background, I figure it could've been budgetary reasons for the animation, to save on animating an extra character. Also I imagine flame-y hair wouldn't be very fun to animate in 2D, and Deuce's snakes moving on their own were bad enough I imagine to animate, so it begrudgingly checks out as to why Holt isn't in the animated bits with everyone else.

BUT I JUST WATCHED THE MUSIC VIDEO BECAUSE I WANTED TO FOR THE SAKE OF THIS POST AND THE GUY SINGING THE RAPPING BIT HAS, YOU GUESSED IT, A BRIGHT FRICKIN NEON RED LEATHER JACKET. He doesn't have the dual-toned shirt BUT IT'S WHITE AND THIS IS CLOSE ENOUGH FOR ME Y'ALL! XD
