ah yes see ive succumbed to the Rusty Quill Network Of Shows or what have you. tried deviser and found it okay, took a detour to listen to all of the silt verses, and then was looking for my next horror/creepy audio drama to get into when i gave malevolent a try.

i like it a lot! i think the work that goes into it is incredible, obviously harlan guthrie is doing some insane shit on the mic, and while i kind of liked the diagetic dice rolls initially i was fine when they got phased out. i like most of the characters a great deal and its getting me more interested in the lovecraft mythos than anything else has rly (i mostly knew it via the lovecraft country show, and engaged with the concept of eldritch horror through great books like ada hoffman’s the outside and p djeli clark’s ring shout). i really like the character work so far and the interplay between john and arthur in canon, and in the fanfic ive read (which for the most part goes absolutely crazy, shoutouts).

right now i am a little concerned about getting “long-running drama fatigue,” where i love the characters but its season 10 and i can’t buy that yall have anything left to mine for drama (my jarthur divorce post was made in good fun, but possibly as a byproduct of binging the entire show in a week i am rly about to take them by the throats and scream “TALK TO EACH OTHER PATIENTLY AND OFTEN. COME ON. HALF THIS SHIT WOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE IF YOU DIDNT WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE LOST AN ARM TO HAVE A CHECKIN”). yknow? but at the same time, it seems like the show has just really opened up with the multiverse, time travel, and further eldritch pantheon, so. we’ll see how much more these two guys can stomp on each others bruises while plot happens to them. and i guess potentially chaucer? chaucer may be happening to them now? i feel like guthrie’s loaded a gun named MIDDLE ENGLISH and pointed it at his foot but all we can do is wait and see

all that said anon if youve been following me for long enough youll know i have no discipline as a writer so it won’t surprise u to know ive put a pin in all other projects to write a jarthur two bodies post-canon fic where they divorce hard enough for john to leave and work on WPA projects while phoning home every few weeks. i may look like a sick dog from outside my enclosure but i promise u i am being so enriched by writing john narrating various vistas into a phone for arthur, and researching WPA projects of the late 1930s
