i couldn't decide between two snippets that i felt like you'd have a vested interest in: one is a Coco/Calliope fic, the other is Lucienne and the Corinthian going to a museum together. so...both?

Calliope watches him steadily. The Corinthian feels an unsettling sense of vertigo, as though he’s been caught in the green-lit gaze of something lurking on the edges of a fire. It’d be novel—usually he’s the thing in the dark with teeth—if it didn’t raise all his hackles on instinct. His eyes, hidden behind a strip of pale linen tied around his head, bare their teeth in a silent hiss.

“Surprised you’d take the train.” He bounces on his toes. “Thought we’d just do the—“ indecipherable gesture “—side-step into the Waking. Efficient.” “Dream created the train to facilitate travel from the Dreaming to the Waking.” “Yeah, but like. Librarian privileges.” “Besides,” Lucienne continues, because she thinks he’s tugging on his leash, feeling out his boundaries, “it’s always good to support public transit.” The Corinthian blows out a heavy sigh. “Sure. Bet you went out and bought an annual metro card and everything.”

Oo! I've done this recently, but as it's in the Odyssey box, I'll do 5 things on this specifically for fun. The first ones that come to mind are:

The sheer chaos that is Kassandra / Alexios' little home on Kephallonia. All the abandoned hobbies. The questionable scene just below it on the hill. The fact that the wiki says Phoibe lives there too. I just love it.

Herotodos. I know that between the two boat dads, Barnabas is by far the fan favorite, but Herotodos has a VERY special place in my soul. I can't even pinpoint why. He just does.

All the fandom shenanigans around Stentor. I wanted to strangle him in the game, but fanfiction / fanart have completely reversed that. Easily my favorite part of any work he's featured in. Smile every time.

Intentionally fucking up Alkibiades quests and making him irate. It makes the fact that he keeps coming back 10x funnier and led to so many funny headcanons in explanation. Try it. It's worth it, I promise.

That little pool not far from the front of the temple of Apollo in Korinth. I've spent far too much time there <3

There are so many more now that I'm thinking about it, but I'll leave it to these :)

I literally scrolled all the way back to your very first post tagged “Aya.” I put most of the posts in my queue so hopefully my reblogs won’t flood your notes too much, but…yeah, my apologies. hahahahahhaha yes you can!!! it's these three fine fellows that were given to me by my parents for christmas!!

the wooden/painted one is Bob, the gold one is Glob, and the little stone one is Mr. Chamberlain :)

why do they have these names, you ask? well,

i got the idea in my head that i should name them after racehorses. not for the fast-slow irony, just because racehorse names are pretty buckwild.

now, here's where the podcast MBMBaM comes in. they have a deeply ironic obsession with horses. they talk about the kentucky derby quite often. and one year, the horse that won the derby was named Orb. they became obsessed with this fact, as we all should be tbh. hold that thought in one hand.

as i was listing horse names, i remembered some names that the McElroy brothers (mbmbam hosts) had come up with. these included Uncle Honey, Buttermane, and Mr. Chamberlain. hold that thought in your other hand.

after i got the snails, i asked my siblings and parents for name suggestions. i was becoming obsessed with "orb" as a name for a snail, but i knew i wanted my three little guys to be somewhat of a set. my mom started suggesting names in categories (e.g., Mack, Peterbilt, and Kenworth), and one of these sets of names was Bob, Glob, and Rob. at that point, one of my brothers suggested two short names and a long one. almost immediately, i was enamored, and here comes the moment where you smash the first two thoughts into the current one, to create the final set:

Bob, Glob, and Mr. Chamberlain. "Orb" isn't in the mix, but i felt like bob and glob carried the spirit of "orb" somehow. and once i had the names, it was pretty intuitive which snail needed which name. thank you for coming to my SnedTalk (snail tedtalk)

OUGH. MY LOVES.

i'm trying to go with my gut for these answers but i would love if we just took the pack to ikea because i think i'd like to see Cyrah and Izrail go utterly feral inside the swedish house maze. i'm GOING to prioritize Cyrah here because i want to buy her an ikea shark plush and feed her the chocolate torte from the cafeteria, which i think she might like very much. i understand this means we're maybe bringing along the emotional support werewolf, which is fine, i think it's fun if we all test beds together and maybe steal a lil trinket from the basement kitchenwares section.

Alok for clothes shopping: nothing more fun than taking your trans friend out and helping them discover new styles and palettes that suit them. ideally we'd hit up some of my favorite SF thrift spots and then eat burritos and ice cream in Dolores Park.

Izrail for grocery shopping seems unhinged but also half the time i go into a store without a list i emerge with a dozen items that are useless for actual meals because they "sounded fun." case in point: the jar of lemon curd in my fridge. BUT a werewolf who eats people isn't gonna be picky so anything where i look at it after the fact and go "wtf" i can just pass on to him. also everyone would give us wide berth because Izrail would be doing the creepy predator stare and this is ideal because the thing i hate most about grocery shopping (besides the rising cost of basic food items) is that other people are there.

Did you like Rigas 🥺👉🏼👈🏼 I only watched the Meg 2 because I have a massive crush on her actor and I ended up enjoying the movie a lot!!

She was fine, I wish they'd developed her character more as I felt she was "funny coward" and little beyond that (kind of taking over DJ's role in Meg 1), but I think she has a lot of potential and I hope she comes back. She also is very pretty, I see why you have a crush!

Simon hated the tapping out ceremony. Ever since he first had to partake in one, he despised it. With no family and very few friends, he was usually the last on the field, waiting until one of his superiors would tap him out. But he couldn’t skip them either.

So there he was. The sun was beating down on the hundreds of soldiers lined up in neat little rows, standing at attention while they waited for their loved ones. And they came quickly. One soldier after the other was tapped out by their parents, siblings, spouse, and sometimes even children. But he stayed still, watching the happy reunions out of the corner of his eyes. Watching the tears and hugs and kisses. He envied the others; he was jealous of what they had, and he didn’t. But Simon had always been good at following orders, so he didn’t move, barely even blinked as he was surrounded by happiness, while he drowned in his own sorrow.

After an hour, there was only one other soldier left. Simon had barely interacted with him, but he knew his face. And just when Simon thought he wouldn’t be the only one without someone to tap him out this time, a crowd of eight people moved toward the soldier. At the front was an older-looking woman, her brown hair streaked with grey and lines on her face, indicating her age. Around her were people of all ages and genders.

“My son!” The woman let out a sob as she finally threw her arms around the soldier’s neck, causing the man to chuckle, as he hugged her back. “I missed you too, mama.”

One by one, he talked to the people surrounding him, hugged them, and kissed them. Simon couldn’t help but watch, bile rising in his throat as jealousy threatened to overtake him. And as he watched, he couldn’t help but imagine himself in the soldier’s stead. Surrounded by a happy, loud, and loving family. People who were happy to see him. Nowadays, the only people he could call family were the guys from the 141, and they were away on a mission. Still, in his mind, the scene played out. His mother, smiling, rushing toward him. Followed by his brother and his wife, carrying his nephew.

The daydream was interrupted by someone walking toward him. He expected it to be his superior, there to finally release him from the nightmare. But it wasn’t.

A young woman took timid steps in his direction. Her eyes, bright but filled with sadness. Not her own sadness, though, it was sadness she felt for him. He didn’t react, didn’t move, didn’t blink. She came to a stop in front of him, gazing up with a frown.

“Is someone coming?” Simon hesitated before giving an almost invisible shake of his head. She gasped, it was quiet and he barely heard it, but he felt it. In every bone, he felt her sadness and the sorrow she carried for him. Slowly, as if not to startle him, she lifted her hand, until it was inches away from his chest. “Is…is this okay?” When he gave a slight nod, she gently pressed her hand against his chest, finally tapping him out.

A breath he didn’t realize he had been holding escaped him as he finally turned to properly look at the woman. She was still gazing up at him, a soft smile now replacing the frown on her face.

“Thank you.” She nodded in response before glancing back at her family. When she looked back at Simon, she looked determined. “We’re going out to eat dinner if you’d like to join us?” Simon was about to decline when someone called out to him.

“Oi! Ghost!” He looked up and saw the soldier, now facing him, an arm wrapped around his mother’s shoulder. “Let’s go; my mom says dinner’s on us!” Without waiting for a response, he turned around and started walking toward the car park, his entire family in tow. Simon kept looking after him until a soft, small hand slipped into his own. He glanced down and found the woman smiling up at him.

“Come, my mom doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.” And with those words, the woman gently led him to follow her family.

In terms of like non-instrumentals? Toss up between Twilight and the Hunger Games, although I think the new movie is going to put the ball solely in the Hunger Games’ court. The Lost Boys and Jennifer’s Body are also up there, so I’m really not sure. In terms of majority instrumental and score music, it has to be the movie Ophelia.
