I had an idea..

Okay okay okay.

Hear me out.

I think by now you can probably tell I'm a sucker for found family tropes with a hint of trauma everyone shared.

Do you remember that post Bunnies made about David and Rowan meeting as kids but only very briefly? Okay yes. And we also know that David's parents were pretty neglectful.

Roy gets to know Mr. Peterson just a tad bit better than in the OG au.

What I'm thinking is: Lesley and Roy start sending David off to Rowan's family while they're "busy".

At first David's VERY vigilant of the Petersons. He doesn't exactly trust or know any of them that well.

So once the car crash happens, David chooses to stay with Rowan instead of another family member. Why's that? He doesn't trust them so why does he choose them? Well, would you rather go with someone you know very little about or someone you know NOTHING about. (I'm literally so sure that he never actually met any of his aunts or uncles. I'll bet my left kidney and twelve teeth)

How does David adjust to that shit???? How would he learn to let his guard down??? How would he cope??? Ughhh I love thinking about stuff like this.

Off topic but I've been thinking about like...fantasy (i know its already kinda fantasy but shhh) creature Two of Us! au where Rowan is a werewolf and David is a vampire

Im still trying to figure out the specifics, but one thing that i am SO deadset on is David being very particular about being referred to as Count David because nowadays having 'Count' in your name is less associated with being an actual earl and more associated with vampire stuff.

And he wants to seem atleast somewhat tougher—whether that be for his own insecurity, to feel safe, or to push others away more—so he's very picky about people calling him Count David!

Despite this, he'd be way too timid to actually do anything besides ball his fists at his sides and mumble out some sort of correction anytime people forgot it. He can't be strong or assertive without lashing out, but he can't lash out for obvious reasons...so he'd simply mope and grumble about it all day.

I think that Rowan used to forget to say Count all the time, but he'd try his best to say it! In fact, he got super good at correcting himself, but the very first time he actually did say it right without stuttering or messing up in anyway—probably like months into their friendship—David suddenly was like 'you said that you're my friend or whatever so you can just call me david i guess' and Rowan's mind just froze because he did it right and NOW David wanted him to stop??? The fuck???

Now he sort of just switches from calling him Count David and just David whenever he feels like it!

(He can be like Draculavid...or Davicula...nvm forget i said anything i cant do wordplay.)
