Two Mules For Sister Sara - my official report
Final rating is a solid 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ with a side of 2 mules 🫏🫏 and a steamy bathtub 🛁
Good film. Entertaining, funny, not as long as the Dollars films so easier to watch in one sitting if you have weird attention span moments like myself. I definitely enjoyed the difference between Hogan and Eastwood’s earlier western characters, it was nice to see him play a character who isn’t killing a lot of people and being indifferent to everyone.
I also really enjoyed how Hogan and Sara played off of one another, and Shirley MacLaine was absolutely fantastic as Sara. Definitely the best character.
The developing romance was good, and though Hogan was an ass to begin with (thank you 1970’s attitudes) he didn’t push or do anything awful so I’ll be happy with it. They also had good chemistry.
Best scenes were pretty much any where Sara and Hogan were together (his reaction to her saying ass, her reaction to him coming back on his horse, the arrow removal… mwuah).
Bonus emojis for Ennio Morricone’s brilliant score one again 🪈🪕🎶🎵🎸

So I recently got into old Clint Eastwood western movies and just last night, I watched Two Mules for Sister Sara and I don't know what I was expecting but certainly not the classical western meets romantical comedy vibe...? Like, it was so good? Help?
I think it's my first time shipping a heterosexual couple in maybe 5 years (ngl heterosexual movies suck at creating an actual tension and chemistry between the protagonists, it's just so generic) but this duo was so perfect! A lonely cowboy criminal/schemer meets a nun and develops a crush so ridiculously huge on her within the first day, it's so funny? And Sara the nun is absolutely hilarious in the best way possible. I don't think they fully intended for the movie to be a comedy but maybe that's why the scenes are so funny, because they weren't pushing the jokes too hard but instead let them develop naturally. Only exception is the final scene, they tried a little too hard there but in my opinion it doesn't quite fit the story and more importantly the characters, like at all. But overall, Hogan's deepening crush on Sara is so cute, especially because he's trying so hard to keep up the facade of a tough gunslinger, and Sara is just so sweet but also naughty and hilarious, just the perfect interesting couple!
And now I'm SUFFERING because there are no fanfictions with these two and I'm like 😭😭😭

"We'd better hurry. I've never seen a train blown to hell and gone before."
I liked the part with the bathtub.
An interesting adventure with a surprising amount of action. Lots of great locations shown off with nice wide shots and a complementary score. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Sister Sara and Hogan, the strength of which made up the linchpin of the movie.
Clint Eastwood played his usual gruff anti-hero type, but Shirley MacLaine brought a truly excellent performance to the table. She gave a great sense of depth to the character through her expressions and physical acting, which worked particularly well in the comedic moments. The gags with her sneaking off to smoke, hurrying her way through prayers, and being suspiciously capable of handling liquor were especially amusing.
All the action scenes were well done, and the large battle at the end was quite impressive. The train derailment was a real highlight of the movie; Not only was the lead up to it very funny, but the shot of it tumbling off the bridge looked fantastic.
A well made movie, with fun characters and an entertaining plot. Pretty great.

@hotvintagepoll Does this miss the cutoff or is it admissible propaganda? (It was probably FILMED in 1969? if that helps??)
