i’ve seen way too many people angry/annoyed at ena5 for the handling of mizuki, largely with the sentiment that it “does nothing to make people stop calling mizuki a boy” and while i would’ve loved to have had mizuki outright say “i am transgender” the sad fact of the matter is that having her state that still wouldn’t have stopped people from calling her a man. the people who call mizuki a boy/crossdresser are not doing it because they genuinely believe that is mizuki’s arc. they are doing it to be transphobic, and would only double-down in an honestly much worse way. it’s what happened with bridget guiltygear. the only thing that could stop things is if mizuki was confirmed to be a cis woman, however, it’s very blatantly obvious that’s not the case. it’s sad and infuriating but the reality is these people are just doing it to be vile and no canon confirmation would change that because they are, at their core, transphobic assholes
