Re: Bird App and replacements

Today is "TweetOut" day, or "Tweetless Tuesday," which is actually a walk-out. Those of us participating are staying off the Bird App all day today. So I thought it would be a good time to mention I'm on an alternative called "BlueSky." It is currently in Beta and is invitation only, and you have to be on it for a while to "earn" invite codes (which is why I don't have any to give out yet). Kinda like AO3.

It's very much like Old Bird App and is quite basic for now. You can post text, images, and links, but not videos or animated gifs. You can't actually thread posts (but you can do a bunch of replies). There are no ads or sponsored posts (yet). The default is chronological order, but there are two other tabs..."Discover" and "Popular With Friends." Which I have found is a better way to scan other accounts to follow.

And here's the thing...a lot of awesome folks are there! I would love for some of my Tumblr/Bird App mutuals to join me. So if you are already on BlueSky, let me know so we can mutually follow. And if you aren't...well watch your inbox, I might have some invite codes eventually!

We shouldn't underestimate our power.

We are fans. We can do the impossible.

Sherlock Holmes came back to life because of us. Star Trek TOS was not cancelled. In little more than one week we raised almost 50.000 USD for The Castiel Project.

I think it's time CW realizes that what they did with 15x20 will have consequences OUTSIDE the fandom.

We owe this to ourselves and to the fans that will come after us, whatever show they'll be fans of.

That's why I'd like us all to put our brains together and list the ways (honest ones obviously ah ah) we can make our displeasure not only known... but also avenged.

I recapped a couple of simple points - I'm sure many of you have already done them - but let's add more ideas with reblogs and comments.

Remove your like from their Facebook official page

Rate 1 episode "Carry on" on IMDB

Leave a bad review on episode "Carry On" on IMDB

Share article "Supernatural Legacy: the Trauma of Silence" (Buzzfeed) publicly on your socials tagging CW, Eric Kripke & Andrew Dabb but also (with a kind comment about the incredible work they've done in these years) Jensen, Misha, Jared and Shoshannah. Everyone needs to understand.

Something I think it'd be useful but need some organization could be a "common letter". Something that explains in short words our disappointment and our decision to boycott CW. Then have this letter signed by all of us and send it to other networks (not to CW) and to newspapers and magazines online. The big ones. Variety, EW, Wired, news channels like Times, US Weekly and so on. A petition would be simpler to organize but the idea is not to ask for something but to make our displeasure known and make them aware that we're not just keeping shut about it

Question:

Would a tweetout next Thursday involving other networks and magazines work? Something tagged #CWnotmynetwork or #BoycottCWNetwork ...could someone organize it?

The point is to find ways to take away their power. Angry tweets sent to them are good but we shouldn't even give them this attention.

We should make them understand they're nothing and they will lose money out of it... and warn new fans that they shouldn't lose time on their works.

Main problem there is gonna be Walker Texas. Unfortunately we cannot actively do anything to boycott it, because Jared does not deserve it ... however, if you have any other ideas or suggestions, please add them and reblog!

Dominion fans!! This is the official protocol for this week.

We want to show SyFy how much we love the show and want a 2nd season so we'll be doing another tweetout at the time the show usually airs.

Use the #RenewDominion hashtag ONLY during the 2-hour tweetout on Thursday so we can try and get it trending and get SyFy to pay attention!

Join in by tweeting about the show, using #RenewDominion, during the 2-hour tweetout, maybe make some wings for your fingers and post a fingers/wings crossed photo too?

Don't forget you can also keep posting with the #Dominion hashtag the rest of the time. Let's keep the momentum going and let SyFy know how many fans there are out there! :)

I just found out I have to miss tomorrow's tweetout :(

But I have my tweets all queued up at FutureTweets and I hope there is still a strong showing! Please hype the DVD release and encourage people to speak with their wallets! Those international folks, keep asking where and when you'll be able to order yours! And of course, the letter campaign is still ongoing (updated with a shift towards asking for a movie/other continuation) and also the petition recently changed ownership since Megan could no longer manage it.

Almost Human is an American science fiction/crime drama that aired from November 17, 2013, through March 3, 2014, on Fox. FOX announced the cancellation of this series.

Join us and help fans trend #liber8almosthuman on May 26 | 8:00 - 9:00 PM ET/PT (1:00 AM GMT) so that our voice can be heard. 

#Liber8 was chosen this week because FOX is supposedly sitting on the license option for Almost Human, which prevents the WB from shopping it around/other networks from picking it up until the license expires.

If you won’t be able to be on twitter at that time, you might want to consider free online services that will allow you to queue up tweets for future broadcasting. Among the others: laterbro | futuretweets

Some reminders:

- Don’t use the tag before the scheduled time (it affects the trending)

- Try to hit key points of why the show should get picked up, ie 6mil+ audience growing internationally, 4th highest rated new show, diversity, character with a disability, quality sci-fi, potential to last years, great & beloved actors, etc. etc.

- Don’t just tweet once! Please queue up a bunch throughout the hour and retweet others from the tag!

- Linking to the petition is also always a good idea.
