Harry Wilson wasn't completely useless with technology, despite what his daughter joked. He loved a good mobile game, he was always up on his email--which would have been a real game changer for the industry if not for the fact that he really wasn't that old, seriously, enough with the jokes, email'd been around for most of his career. He seriously did not miss pagers, though there was something satisfying about a flip phone. He knew what a Pokemon was, he could theoretically post a tweet, and he frequented several tumblr blogs that posted kitten videos and interesting art. He was by no means a technophobe. 

But he appreciated paper. There was something about writing by hand on good quality paper, with a fountain pen, or at least a Pilot G-2 gel pen, black ink, instead of some chicken-scratch cheap ballpoint, or worse, typing and printing out. Something about writing by hand made things real. 

That was sort of the problem, he thought, sitting at his desk with the ink spreading out on the paper. Bleeding, it was called. It felt like blood. It wasn't that they weren't real to him, all his clients, all his cases. All the victims he'd helped to bulldoze. They had always been real. That just hadn't mattered.

He wrote the first name. Cole. The second. Mateo.  The ink bled over the paper and his hands as he wrote down years of names.

In the morning, he can use the resources Leverage has to offer. He can see who he can find. He can see who he can try to help, even if he can't fix it entirely. He can see what was left in the wake after the gavel came down.

So I just took a look at the quote tweets from Pocket Pair's Japanese announcement.

... Holy shit.

So for some background, the general reaction to the lawsuit announcement is pretty spilit but the most vocal people are decrying Nintendo for suing an indie dev like Pocket Pair. Pretty simple reason why, people don't like it when a big corporation starts wielding the law against smaller devs.

...Well, that's a misnomer. Western people don't like that. Or rather, that's their perception of what's going on and thus they have a negative reaction towards Nintendo.

On the Japanese side? The story's completely reversed. People are shitting on Pocket Pair and saying that Nintendo is in the right to do so. Now a lot of people are probably thinking that this is corporate shilling and yes, it is on some level. (Much like how the defense of Palworld is in part shilling for Pocket Pair). And yeah, just like people thinking Nintendo is suing over designs, people are saying Palworld is getting their comeuppence from stealing from Nintendo.

But the majority opinion to their statement (which is translated as follows)-

If you haven't noticed it- this is almost the exact OPPOSITE reaction in the english speaking world.

It's really shocking to see such a stark contrast on a situation where everyone seemingly has the same info. A friend of mine thinks this is due to a difference in focus between the two groups. The English side sees Palworld as competition for Pokemon to force innovation while the Japanese side sees Palworld as creatively bankrupt.

I think it goes deeper than that, down to the core of the two cultures.

Let's be real, most of the people defending Palworld in the English side are likely Americans. And Americans are, by our nature, disdainful of authority and see more moral legitimacy in the underdog. It fits with our own founding story with teh Revolutionary War and the Founders against the corrupt and powerful Britan, leading us to be a highly individualist culture with such a disdain for big entities.

On the other hand, Japan is a culture defined heavily by respect for authority and the morality being with the leaders. They, to the best of my knowledge, value social cohesion and unity above the individual. The reason why so many main characters coming from Japan feel like bland self-insert MCs is actually because they're made to appeal to people who want to mesh well with others and interact without conflict (a sharp contrast to Americans who value heroes CLASHING with others).

By our very cultures, we view the same situation in opposing ways because our cultures, due to growing from such massively different circumstances, are effectively polar opposites. To us, it's the big bad corporation bulling the noble underdog. To them (as much as I can assume), it's the slimy thief getting caught by the big noble man and getting his just desserts. Yet we still react the same way- with chaotic scrambling to justify our viewpoints while widely refusing nuance and paitence.

This is just simply fascinating to me. It's always so intriguing to see how America's and Japan's opposing values clash with each other, showing human beings react the same way but saying different words.

Ooooooh, I don't know if it has already been said but when Akari/Kiki and Ingo goes back home, where do they spawn?

Could be a good plot that that just... fall from a space-time rift, in front of a camera, in front of an audiance.

The public seeing 2 people spawning from a portal with ancient-ish cloths: ...Wat

They wind up back in modern day Hisui, so in Sinnoh! Specifically where the temple was on Mount Coronet, so they get reverse eebied to the Spear Pillar. Its a bit of a waking up in the Temple of Time moment in OoT where everything is all different.

Them coming back doesn't immediately fix the rifts, little ones still occur in modern day for a bit, kind of like aftershocks to an earthquake before they finally stop. So Sinnoh's in a bit of a high alert at the moment, they actually paused letting young new trainers get licenses until it settles for their own safety. They dont want ten year olds getting brained by weirdly agressive pokemon

Akari actually gets hurt by one when some idiot ignores the current warnings in place. They're brought to a hospital in Snowpoint by some rangers with Ingo and thats when it gets weird. You got two amnesiac people, one who doesnt exist (Akari because not their real name). But Ingo at least knows his name so its like ok, they look for any missing people named ingo, bam subway boss ingo from unova comes up, Interpol gets involved, etc. Since Interpoll is involved Cynthia has to get involved and the more questions they get answred the more questions they have because HISUI?!?!? Arceus!?

They try to keep it hush hush because Interpol tries not to broadcast the whole ultra wormholes and space time rifts thing. Its an open secret in certain circles, like all the Professors know of it, the Leagues, etc but its kept a bit hush hush so not to alarm the greater public, or entice megalomaniacs.

Akari and Ingo were caught by some game trail footage but it was yoinked by Candice before it could get leaked. The only thing allowed were some identification photos. Ingo's was sent over to Unova to try and get in contact with his family for a DNA test to be run to confirm his identity, and that was a whole thing.

They float some pics of Akari around in Sinnoh because they figure Akari to be of Sinnoh origin. Theyre close but not quite because Kitakami.

So they're not youtube famous, though Ingo does manage to make a tweet from his Xtrans by accident when someone at the hospital got him a charger and that caused a whole mess lol.

Been all into Pokemon Go again so I visited a mall to do it in more and wow, since Covid I haven't really visited any place outside of work and it sure changed a lot in there, half the stores are just gone. owo It's spooky month and it sure felt like I was visiting a ghost town!

Like somehow some small shops were still alive and kicking, other small shops were gone or even turned into other small shops that also had to close. Some big fancy luxury places closed while other fancy ones were still open. I guess it hit everyone differently! And some weird things have popped up... Pokemon Gameboy/GBA cartridge vending machine??

And thankfully for me that mall was a lot emptier than it would normally be. I dunno if I'll ever be normal and used to being out in public comfortably, luckily I love being at home with nerdy stuff, but it was neat to take a lil visit and see what the weird real world's been like lately.

What it comes down to, when I think of rpf and shipping real people, is the surveillance aspect of it all. The filming of people without them knowing, extras and crew members taking pictures on sets of cast members, live tweeting at events. It is the same level of surveillance and violation of privacy that can happen, and does happen to all of us, all the time. But because these are celebrities, who choose to be in front of cameras sometimes, some of yall think that gives you permission to film them all the time. All while acknowledging how brazen paparazzi are, or how annoying it is to be in the background of someone's tiktok. Yet, you get online, spread these things around like pokemon cards, and don't stop to analyze what it is you are actually doing; engaging with non-consensual media. no, not technically illegal. But fucking weird. Like. Weird. These real people have no idea that this media exists, or is being shared from message box to message box, or in the bowels of twitter, or the backrooms of tumblr. Some of yall are weird, and have no sense of boundaries/respect. and it's a part of a larger problem with social media and the lack of privacy it has created. and the attempt to normalize, or claim that it ever was a normal behavior, is weird. Why are you so adamant that you be allowed to see the pieces of other people's lives? Why are you entitled to grainy videos of people going about their days? Why do you feel so attached to your own self-constructed ideas of people?

surge, koga, sabrina, and blaine are or have been affiliated with team rocket. koga and sabrina aren't really willingly working with them for koga his daughter is being threatened and for sabrina they promised if she works with them that the pokemon tower will not be torn down for a radio tower (her family runs the tower and even though she's scared of ghosts she doesn't want an important burial ground for hundreds of pokemon to get torn down for capitalism). blaine assisted in the creation of mewtwo along with fuji and some unimportant blond guy. and surge is just an asshole (he becomes less of an asshole after red beats him)

blue kept getting in trouble for not using a monotype team while he was a gym leader. he eventually got fired post gsc and green replaced him lmao.

forgive me if the question was rhetorical, but in totk link doesn't have to dress up as a girl to get in gerudo town anymore. i dont think the gerudo that sells you the girl outfit is seen in the game this time? not to my knowledge, anyways. link is recognised in gerudo town as the dude who saved everyone and is a close friend of riju's, and so is the only man allowed in. i haven't even seen the girl outfit in totk, but maybe thats just me, so take it with a pinch of salt

Believe me, it's for the best because despite how I may seem, I am not a talkative person and even though I'm only in a handful of servers, I only send like 8 messages a year in 'em.

I put in for a Bluesky code and am looking into cohost for future alternatives, but I haven't done anything yet. By the time I make up my mind someone will probably have claimed my user on there and I'll have to make up another name again lol

Why not just make the accounts now?

Because I don't want to have a bunch of social media to keep up with and suck my time. The few I have already do enough and are a primary reason I don't use them on my phone. Not to mention, these sites are "hot" right now because of the massive amount of people jumping ship off Twitter, who knows if they'll have any longevity. I've been around and seen enough "YouTube alternatives we should all move to" to know many sites just don't last past the initial hype.

Now I'm not leaving Tumblr. There's so much here and like DA, I love the archive system not to mention how tagging lets you organize and easily find posts later. I don't believe Tumblr is going anywhere anytime soon. Stagnation happens and sites like MySpace still exist. Heck, while I've basically abandoned it, Quotev still exists and has some active users.

But that's the kicker: active users. If Tumblr becomes such a ghost town that I'm basically the only person populating my dash, that'll probably be the time I officially move on. But until that happens...

Buckle up cuz I've been rotating this concept in general for a while!

Okay, back in college (I still feel weird saying that) I lent a friend my notebook cuz he missed a lecture one time. He noted that I doodled all over them, and asked why I did so. My answer was something along the lines that I was going to burst if I didn't.

And it's still true for me to this day. I have to write or draw or do gpose/screenshots cuz otherwise I'm going to explode. An idea comes to me and stares me and compels me to execute it. Hell, when I get a good shitpost idea, it feels like my third eye snaps wide open and I cannot get any rest until I make some sort of token effort to try and make it real in some fashion.

As for a favorite part? I don't know! The Defunctland tweet about film making being the worst thing other than not making films is pretty accurate on occasion. I mean, I do enjoy the fruits of my labor. I was scrolling through my own blog smiling at the stuff I've made before I started writing this answer. But depending on the creation, creating the thing is more important to me than having the created thing.

Like this essay of an answer! Not only do I feel obligated to answer you, but I have to admit that writing this is going to be more satisfying to me than coming back to it later and reading it. And that's been true for most of my life. I remember goofing off with spriting at a young age and just enjoying editing the visual of Pokemon trainers without worrying about posting them for a while. It's just been this last year and like, high school that I would get consistent feedback on my creative endeavors. College and working at my last job didn't leave me with enough energy to do creative stuff and present it in a viewable fashion. So that leaves me wrapping my head around the idea that I am having positive human interactions because of my blorbos and blorbo related content.

As for Rowan being the central character of this content? She's more or less the character I've always made creative content for. Whether it be in a Night Elf form or original Elf form or Elezen form, she's just been the vessel for any creative endeavors that need a person-shaped avatar to fill. Now I can confidently say that Rowan is probably distinct from her predecessors by virtue of being worked on so much more lately, but she's just drawn from the same primordial muse ooze that I've always been drawing from.

I think I hit all the points I've wanted to here. Well, the peer-reviewed, undiagnosed ADHD is probably a big contributing factor as to why I feel like I'll burst as a way to combat boredom (and for how this reads lmao).
