notable medical / health - physical

he needs this like heid needs this; i wanted to make a little write up of jagi's physical health and things that may be referenced in threads etc.

head scar / trauma / brain damage -

the most obvious is his head scar / face scar. for anybody who doesn't know; after a fight with his brother, his brother used a technique to essentially swell jagi's brain and kill him. this WOULD have killed him but jag, being the stubborn bastard he is - decided to nail metal into his head to stop the swelling / injury. on the right side of head, he has this metal scar with wires that pump blood and keep him alive.

he also suffered some brain damage from this injury.

he is ALWAYS in pain with this injury. it's pure agony; not much distracts him from it. but he will welcome any kind of relief. if your muse wants to control jag in some way, perhaps they can offer him pain relief - he might just be there friend :eyes:

here is an image of what this looks like; the depiction varies dependent on which manga, anime, game etc you see so i'm going to use this reference as it's most clear / my favourite.

regarding jagi's brain damage - i like to think that he has odd mannerisms spotted when with him for a long time; he blinks unequally, his pupils are always tiny, he twitches and can sometimes appear as if under the influence of drugs ( he isn't ).

he also sees a demonic figure from time to time ( the one his mask is inspired by, as seen in the gaiden manga ) and it also speaks to him. this is purely as a result of his brain damage. when alone, he will sometimes talk to himself or mumble - his mumbles border on an almost indecipherable rambling, but to jag, he can see / hear something that nobody else can. this is purely his head playing tricks on him.

old leg injury -

his leg injury is inspired by ken's rage, as i noticed he has a bandage around his right leg - i like to think that he once badly broke his leg whilst in the dojo as a teen and the injury never quite settled. even with toki's healing and ryuken's orders to 'take it easy', jagi just couldn't and insisted on using it, thus damaging it further.

ever since, it's given him slight discomfort / pain but nothing unbearable. his attention when it comes to pain is entirely distracted by the throbbing pain in his skull, so he isn't too bothered by his old leg wound. it is something that can be sensitive, mind you, and is another reason for him using his motorbike to get around everywhere.

scars on torso / self-harm -

the scars on his torso are supposed to imitate kenshiro's as to impersonate him - they are real. jag gave them to himself; he stabbed himself multiple times with a knife, digging the circular scars into his torso. he did this in a fit of madness shortly after receiving his head injury.

on this note, jag is no stranger to self harm. he has stabbed himself with a pipe through the hip before during a suicide attempt and when younger, would regularly cut into his thighs.

if asked of these wounds - he'll play them off as being wounds caused while training / fighting in battle. only toki knows their true origin.

Wretched little shortcake refused to leave. Of course he wouldn’t. Why wouldn’t Lucifer choose to revel in his suffering? Were it reversed he’d do the damn same. Of course a heart as paranoid and damaged as his own could see the devil staying as nothing else but a desire to mock him.

Alastor’s ears were pinned back like a rabid dog, and his grin pulled into a taut, bloody snarl as the dials turned manically in his eyes. The lights in the room flickered, and the radio switched on.

He scrambled to put some distance between himself and the King, gnashing his fangs viciously. He thought he might succeed. He thought he might win this battle for once, but as the scent of angelic flesh reached his nose, he knew he hadn’t.

Alastor latched onto the King’s arm, gold now mingling with crimson as he tore into Lucifer like a dog with a steak. His shoulders sagged with instant relief at having his hellish cravings met…and yet salt blinded his vision, as he quickly shut his eyes.

Darling with regenerative abilities

🔲​An abduction in general is a more nerve-racking experience for Kaneki than it might just be for darling. It is always fueled with paranoia and irrational fright though, the deep-rooted fear of losing you to someone, be it human or ghoul. There are certain scenarios where there will be more paranoia involved than normally and I believe that with a darling with such special abilities it will be such a case where there will be even more fear apparent than under already very suffocating circumstances. For you see, someone like you would surely be desired by both humans and ghouls for your special abilities. For ghouls you might just be a never-ending source of food for as long as you breathe and for the ghoul investigators and the Commission of Counter Ghoul you might just be a solution to the casualities if they were to figure out on a biological level how your abilities function. Threats are now then ever from possibly both sides and it is this terrifying knowledge that pushes Kaneki quicker than already over the edge. He does not want you to be a food source nor a science project and finds himself with no other choice but to take you himself.

🔲​Weighted down with very little opinions of himself and already expecting you to not have a very high opinion of someone like him, the despair is nevertheless there and unstoppable when you give him the cold shoulder after your abduction. A paradox if emotions that should not exist clash within him. On the one hand he recoils whenever he listens to his own obsessive thoughts, disgusted by himself. Then in the next moment he wishes so dearly to touch you and to receive the affection that he hasn't experienced in years. He loves you but at the same time he is too ashamed to face you and let you see just how pathetic he really is. After all you are right in your hatred, he has ruined your life to prevent one of many horrific scenarios in his head. Still, his presence is always lurking as he watches you whilst you are stuck in his apartment. Admiring, loving, worshipping from a distance where he believes he won't be of any burden or annoyance to you. He cannot be too far away though as if physical distance is harming him. The emotional distance between him and you is already so severe after all, at least let him keep some strings of sanity intact.

🔲​You reveal to him a few weeks after the abduction why you despise ghouls and by extension also him. In the past you have suffered from an attack by a ghoul who left you on the brink of death with mutiliated limbs. If it wouldn't have been for your regenerative abilities you would have never survived yet the process of regeneration was long and was painful. For weeks you had to lock yourself in your apartment, isolated to hide your secret and wait for the day until you had recovered. A story that does nothing but add to his paranoia as one of his fears is proven. You were already attacked by a ghoul. You already suffered by the hands of one side. Even though he is only a half-ghoul, even though he has nothing to do with it, Kaneki still feels horribly guilty and ashamed as if everything is his fault. You have a reason, a valid reason, for your disgust and low opinion of ghouls. Yet still he craves deep down to have you understand that he has only the best intentions in mind for you only to be met with that horrible knowledge that he keeps you locked up. The following weeks will be difficult for him as he struggles with his feelings and thoughts. A breakdown is bound to happen.

What if Aerys died at Duskendale?

okay, just like. some tw for torture here, i know it’s asoiaf but the fates of the darklyns is. a lot.

So, first of all, the people of Duskendale are even more fucked than they were in the main series. They didn’t just traumatize the king, and make Tywin look like an idiot, they killed the king. Poor Lady Serala is going to experience sexual humiliation to an extreme even for Westeros(she Already experiences a really racialized death in having her genitals mutiliated & being burned on a pyre & the people of Duskendale think this was too kind. if she’s partially responsible for the death of the king, she is fucked on such a massive, horrific scale. think the very worst of what Mysaria & Elia & Tysha & Tytos’ mistress experience here). Dontos is likely not spared because Barristan is not granted a boon for saving the King. Never mind massacring the whole of houses Darklyn & Hollard, I think it’s likely Tywin calls for the wholesale slaughter of all of Duskendale and burns the city to the ground.

After that, well, Rhaegar is 18 and old and not yet engaged to Elia. Losing Aerys to a petty rebel is likely a massive blow to the Targaryen Propaganda Machine, & while Rhaegar is young enough to rule & hasn’t yet shown any signs of being a tyrant, Aerys was also promising and look how that ended up. Politically, he’s on shaky grounds. I think Rhaegar is smart enough to realize he has to make some alliances quick, and that means a smart marriage for him, and probably a remarriage for his mother as well. Westeros’ Most Eligible Bachelorette’s include several Hightowers, Mina and Janna Tyrell (Mace’s sisters), Cersei Lannister, Lysa Tully, and Elia Martell, but there’s been several Rargaryens who married slightly more obscure houses to help keep peace - see Baelor marrying a Marcher, Aerys marrying a Stormlander (and we don’t know where the Penrose seat is, it’s possible they are also in the Marches), Rhaenyra marrying Laenor (tho that match was admittedly a completely failure lmaoo), etc. It’s possible Rhaegar attempts a match with someone in the Crownlands as sort of a “I’m not mad, I’m not gonna do collective punishment, I promise it was just the Darklyns we’re massacreing, you’re all good” sort of thing, possible he marries Cersei as a way of keeping Tywin as his loyal hand, possible he settles on Elia because he worries he’ll need their soldiers soon, and he’s already friends with Arthur Dayne.

The biggest change here is that Jaime may not join the Kingsguard - he isn’t raised up until 281 and that’s done bc of Aerys/Cersei/Jaime all scheming with their various motives, and with Aerys out of the picture, that seems less likely (for now at least - it might change when Tywin starts seriously looking for a wife for Jaime). One of the other biggest changes is Tywin himself - he hasn’t retired as Hand yet, his suit was rejected but by Aerys not Rhaegar, and we have genuinely no idea how close Rhaegar and Tywin were! Does he decide to just keep Tywin as his hand or does he attempt to distance himself? Tywin is the key here and we know little about how he felt about Rhaegar; all of his reminiscing about the Targaryen Dynasty centers around Aerys, not Rhaegar. If Tywin is on Rhaegar's side, it's possible Tywin can keep Rhaegar in line at least enough to stall the rebellion or make it less bloodthirsty. If Rhaegar and Tywin don't get along, however, things probably go very similarly to the main series.

He's well aware that the mech he has in his grasp is a medic. He'd counted on it, in fact- after having gotten a report from Laserbeak that Ratchet had been in the "neighborhood." Once the beacon had been tripped, she'd immediately flown off to continue her aerial reconnaissance, assured that he's safe for the moment.

The other mechanism is drug into the burned out building he's using as a base of operations, and pushed into a nearby chair. Before he can react to having his airways and processor cleared- the other is already straddling his hips with a vibroblade against his throat cables.

This close, Ratchet can see the small stress fractures in the other's faceplates, and the crack running halfway across his visor. He's splattered with energon, with the whine of damaged micromotors here and there in his frame. "Ah know," he drawls softly- that Polyhexian accent slithering into the other's audials. "An' ah have need of a medic. Ya really need an armed escort, mech, if you're gonna go runnin' into the dark." The shorter mech pulls back only slightly- free hand gently digging claws into the other's palms. It's not painful, not yet- only a reminder of he DOES understand where the other's weak points are.

And has no hesitation to use them against him for defense.

" 'Specially if there's mecha like meh runnin' in t'shadows." He turns briefly, spitting curdled energon to one side- and as he shifts, Ratchet will be able to see that half his right side is just... missing. There's cauterized lines that have stopped bleed out, but the finer mechanisms that help microtransformations are gone. Even part of his damaged T-cog is visible.

Ratchet is, at this moment, at the mercy of a very wounded tunnelrat.

“Look, look, hey, I’m unarmed— I’m a doctor, for Pitssake,” Ratchet wheezes out against the arm he’s found wrapped around his neck, compressing several important lines going both up and down from his processor. “Medic. Non-combatant! Medic!”

He hates urban environment skirmishes. Hates them. He can never not check every alleyway, every open door and dark corner, just in case. Autobot or Decepticon, since… since, well, he can’t remember the last time he’d come face to face with any neutrals since Optimus led them over the Divide west of Tyger Pax.

It was even easier to lure him away in the dark when someone lets off a distress signal. Or spoofs one accurately enough. Ratchet just can’t… leave well enough alone, when he thinks he can do something to help.

Maiken disliking your character doesn't mean I dislike you. She doesn't like anybody to be fair. Bleed happens sometimes but don't be weird about it, please.

Maiken has a rough history which includes eye trauma and self harm/mutiliation which includes but is not limited to cutting. I won't be sharing any imagery but if it happens to come up in conversation, these will be tagged as 'eye trauma tw' 'sh tw'. She won't bring these up at random either.

WOD is full of all sorts of gross shit a lot of which I include in my writing. I can accept it and stomach it when handled correctly. My line in the sand is the sexualization of child/teen characters. I don't care if they're technically 18+, I don't care if they're literal Elders. Looks like a child, acts like a child, that's a child in my book.

Do forgive my ignorance but I was under the impression that only adults could be sterilized due to the full development of their sexual organs, So how are doctors sterilizing babies when they aren’t really developed?

So yeah it’s true that tubal ligation and vasectomies are only done on adults. When I refer to sterilization of intersex babies, I’m talking about the fact that intersex surgeries often cause sterilization because they take out the testes or ovotestes or otherwise harm the reproductive organs in a way that makes having biological children impossible. This is not the same process as voluntary sterilization of adults like a vasectomy or getting your tubes tied, but it has the same result of sterilization.

Lavinia was likely named for the Shakespeare character from Titus Andronicus. It's been a while since I read that play, but Lavinia was engaged to one of the sons trying to take over Rome and he was killed, she was raped and her tongue and hands cut off. Also her father kills her because she was raped. Honestly the whole play is pretty crazy and I'm probably missing a ton of details but I've been planning on revisiting it for my (eventual) Katvinia fic. Based on this, though, I do think

How wild is it that Lavinia doesn’t remind Katniss of the girl in the woods, she is the girl from the woods. What are the odds? (I don’t think there’s any great rebellion conspiracy behind Katniss and Peeta being the 74th tributes, but it’s just another one of those luck/fate things that play into the story.)

Moving past that, I was trying to make parallels between Lavinia capture and the QQ: Katniss being ‘rescued’/spared and Peeta being left-for-dead/captured and used to punish Katniss.

then I pulled up the text and it felt very reminiscent of Rue’s death: the Mockingjays, the net, the spear, Katniss’s desire and inability to save both girls…

Lavinia’s Capture

“No, my friend Gale. Suddenly all the birds stopped singing at once. Except one. As if it were giving a warning call. And then we saw her. I’m sure it was the same girl. A boy was with her. Their clothes were tattered. They had dark circles under their eyes from no sleep. They were running as if their lives depended on it,” I say.

For a moment I’m silent, as I remember how the sight of this strange pair, clearly not from District 12, fleeing through the woods immobilized us. Later, we wondered if we could have helped them escape. Perhaps we might have. Concealed them. If we’d moved quickly. Gale and I were taken by surprise, yes, but we’re both hunters. We know how animals look at bay. We knew the pair was in trouble as soon as we saw them. But we only watched.

“The hovercraft appeared out of nowhere,” I continue to Peeta. “I mean, one moment the sky was empty and the next it was there. It didn’t make a sound, but they saw it. A net dropped down on the girl and carried her up, fast, so fast like the elevator. They shot some sort of spear through the boy. It was attached to a cable and they hauled him up as well. But I’m certain he was dead. We heard the girl scream once. The boy’s name, I think. Then it was gone, the hovercraft. Vanished into thin air. And the birds began to sing again, as if nothing had happened.”

Rue’s death

It's a child's scream, a young girl's scream, there's no one in the arena capable of making that sound except Rue. And now I'm running, knowing this may be a trap, knowing the three Careers may be poised to attack me, but I can't help myself. There's another high-pitched cry, this time my name. "Katniss! Katniss!"

"Rue!" I shout back, so she knows I'm near. So, they know I'm near, and hopefully the girl who has attacked them with tracker jackers and gotten an eleven they still can't explain will be enough to pull their attention away from her. "Rue! I'm coming!"

When I break into the clearing, she's on the ground, hopelessly entangled in a net. She just has time to reach her hand through the mesh and say my name before the spear enters her body.

TW graphic thoughts and self-harm

Hello. In the last years I've been having frequent fantasies about self-mutilating or my body falling apart by itself. It started around the time I began self-harming and still goes on now that I am out of it (almost two years ago). I don’t plan on making these fantasies come true, but they don't scare me as much as they probably should. Are these fantasies a consequence of self-harm? Should I be worried? Is this normal?

Averting his gaze, there was swallowing small pools of his own vital fluid, refusing to open it and reveal what was wrong.

Which was easy to figure out by now.

Someone managed, in an act of desperation, rattle and attack him with a magically imbued knife, and as a result... His tongue had become cut out and snipped almost like running said knife through butter instead.

It’d grow back, but there was no way in knowing how long, considering the injury being caused by his one true weakness as a result of being the Black Beast in itself.

For the time he was mute, breathing in shame at being so incredibly careless. As if him saying nothing wasn’t suspicious enough.
