Iris stiffens the moment the mention of the dagger hits his ears, his eyes narrowing suspiciously. His playful demeanor falters for a second, replaced by a sudden unease that hangs in the air. "A dagger?" he repeats, voice cold and clipped. "Why would you—"

His gaze flickers quickly toward Soul, then back to Lilac, the casual bravado slipping. "I... I don't know about that," he mutters, his hands unconsciously fidgeting as if trying to distract himself from something.

When Soul reaches into his bag to pull out the dagger, Iris visibly flinches, recoiling just slightly, the breath he had been holding catching in his throat. His fingers tremble, and his usual sass turns into a more rigid, defensive stance. "No," he snaps, his tone sharp and strained. "I don’t want it. I don’t need it."

Soul, confused and worried, pauses. "Iris...?"

Iris shakes his head, his expression turning distant and guarded, as if the very idea of the dagger is triggering something painful. "Just—just put it away, Soul," he says, his voice barely a whisper.
