Control (2/2)
I kinda wish I’d done more with this but I was really just looking to explore alternate scenes. I want to believe Norman at least tried to confide in Otto, especially after Peter repaired his inhibitor chip. He was the only familiar face in this entire chaotic situation💔

BIOGRAPHY
TRIGGER WARNINGS: Dissociative identity disorder, murder, death, fire, Jack The Ripper allusion
- Arthur Fairfax was born to the illustrious Fairfax family in 1822, in London England.
- Being raised in high society, Arthur was quick to grow deeply resentful of his social obligations, much preferring to immerse himself in books rather than in the company of others. This was in no small part due to the strange abnormalities of his appearance, the whiteness of his hair, and the yellowness of his eyes, causing him to be teased and ridiculed by his peers. From a very young age, Arthur had this dark voice that spoke to him from the back of his mind, urging him to inflict suffering on those who tormented him, to punish them for their actions. There were a few occasions in his childhood when he gave into this voice, and retaliated against the people who had wronged him, but he always felt heavy with guilt in the aftermath, and he quickly learned to ignore it, and keep tried heard to keep it buried within himself; but it was something that he would have to regularly contend with as he grew older.
- Arthur was young when he became interested in tales of the supernatural and the occult; an interest which was encouraged by his mother’s own interest in the topic, as well as their status as misfits; something which he felt he could relate to. As a result, he often sought out answers to the unanswerable questions.
- It was at the age of 12 that Arthur’s entire world went up in flames. The Fairfax Manor was mysteriously set alight, killing every member of his family. He only survived by sheer luck and coincidence, due to the fact he had snuck out of the manor for a midnight stroll the night of the fire being set.
- Though the fire was investigated, no culprit was ever found. Nevertheless, with no where else to go, Arthur was sent to an orphanage, where he would stay until his eighteenth birthday when he inherited the entirety of the Fairfax fortune. Whilst in the orphanage, Arthur received his most abhorrent treatment, due to his unusualness, at the hands of the other children, which only served to cement his feeling of not belonging. And once again, he found himself giving in to the voice in the back of his mind as it urged him to get revenge, only to feel guilty by the suffering he had caused in doing so. And so, he once again tried to bury that part of himself.
- After inheriting his family fortune, Arthur very easily could have lived his life very comfortably, never having to do a single thing, but his curiosity, in addition to his creative mind, refused to allow him to do so. With a large fortune at his disposal, he traveled all around the world, learning all that he could about different myths and legends in many different places. Throughout his decade of travels, he wrote a collection of stories, which, upon returning to London, he had published under a pen name. This began his career as a writer; one which continues to this day, albeit under a completely different pen name and writing style.
- Unfortunately for Arthur, his fascination, curiosity, and feeling of kinship with the supernatural ultimately cost him his mortality. He had been a regular night time stroller since his youth, a practice fueled by a desire to catch a glimpse of those things that were supposed to only be myth, but on one particular night he got a lot more than he bargained for, when a vampire attacked and turned him. The reason for turning him? Well, Arthur never did get to find out, because before he had the chance to ask, something truly horrific happened.
- Becoming a new vampire is almost never easy, but for Arthur, it was even worse than it is for most. That’s because that voice in the back of mind, the one that had whispered in his ear all throughout his life, urging him to inflict pain on the people who had wronged him, and that seemed to crave causing harm, had become magnified in his transition into being a vampire, and as a result, it gained an actual foothold within his psyche. Prior to transitioning, Arthur had been a man with a dark side he had fought to keep buried within himself, but now, his dark side had manifested itself into its own personality, it’s own identity, and even its own name: Alastair. Upon returning from the dead, Alastair seized the opportunity to take control and do what he had always desired to do: inflict misery on everyone who had wronged him, starting with the vampire who had turned him.
As a result of his dark side taking control, his first few years after transitioning were unbelievably rough for Arthur, and for a time, Victorian London had more than one Ripper roaming the streets under the cover of the dark. Where Arthur didn’t want to hurt anyone, Alastair seemed to relish in it. All of the dark feelings within Arthur, all of the discomfort that had come about from years of being treated like a freak, feelings which he had harbored within himself, Alastair remembered, and when he took the reigns of control, he used all of it as fuel for his terrible deeds, only for Arthur to have to feel the unbearable weight of guilt for the things that he had done when he regained control again. But while this was almost unbearable for Arthur on a personal level, since the guilt was nearly enough to drive him into insanity, on a professional level, it actually served to inspire the best work he’d ever done. His horror-filled experience of not being in control of himself led to him writing works that were praised as brilliant and are still considered so to this very day, even if it was obvious to all who read them that they were the work of a tortured soul.
- It’s hard to say how long his struggles would have persisted for, were it not for the intervention of another vampire who came passing through London in the mid 1880s. This vampire was, as it turns out, drawn to London because they were searching for a particular vampire with a penchant for violence and who took a great deal of pleasure in their bloodlust; the rumors of Arthur’s activities within the city had led them to think that he was the vampire they were searching for. When they discovered that he not only wasn’t the vampire they had been in pursuit of, but that he was a tortured soul who had another persona that existed within his mind, and who was responsible for all of his misdeeds, the vampire took pity on him, and, putting their own quest for vengeance on hold, stayed in London to help him find a way to take control back. It took a number of years, but eventually they were able to find a witch who created an elixir which, so long as Arthur stayed on top of drinking it, would keep Alastair from taking control over him. The nightmare was seemingly over, but London had become an entire city that did nothing but remind him of the worst things he’d ever done, and he found that he could no longer bear to stay there. So when the vampire who had saved him left to continue in their pursuit, he left to try and start anew somewhere else.
-This was what brought Arthur to Raven’s Peak the first time, and in a sense, it became his new home of permanence; despite the fact that he’s had to leave for decades at a time in order to maintain the illusion of his existence, it has always been with the intention of returning once it was safe to do so. The town represented new beginnings, and it was here that he began what would become a recurring practice of adopting a new pseudonym and writing style to continue his writing under an entirely new identity; the irony of which was far from lost on him.
- In the time since then, Arthur has more or less lived a quiet, rather reclusive life. He has written many successful novels, stories, poems, and plays, covering nearly every genre you can think of, under many different pen names and in different styles of writing, always in pursuit of achieving the same levels of greatness that he achieved during his dark period, but never quite reaching it. He’s left Raven’s Peak a number of times, as previously mentioned, to preserve the illusion and not call into question why he doesn’t age, but ever since he returned to the town most recently 10 years ago, he’s found that in Raven’s Peak, that illusion is more or less out the window anyway, and so he doesn’t intend to leave again.
-All in all, he’s a reclusive writer who lives in the Old Fairfax Estate in Hidden Hills, and who believes himself to be entirely content in that. So what if he feels nagging pangs of loneliness in the pits of his stomach on a regular basis? So what if he feels the curiosity he fearlessly indulged in his youth calling him, begging to be indulged again? The truth is, he doesn’t trust himself; or, more accurately, he doesn’t trust his other self. Despite the fact that Alastair hasn’t come out to play in any significant way in decades by this point, Arthur is still terrified that one day the elixir will stop working, or that he’ll slip up and forget to take it, only to realize it too late. He doesn’t want to take any chances, because if he leaves the house, and Alastair takes control, then whatever his darker half does will be on him, and he doesn’t want to be responsible for unleashing a monster upon the world.

"hur hur gabe wasn't as abusive as he was in the books" people can all shut up. percy's jaw TREMBLED when ares yelled at him, which had nothing at all to do with his god status - percy backtalks gods just fine. he had trauma response to ares yelling. ares didn't so much as lift a finger. that goes to speak volumes about what percy was experiencing at home

We love MK, child of un-divorced. The next update will be more gay. And fluffier.

About wukong and macaque
Both these bitches did wrong, but remember that MK saw the vision starting from the fight itself, not what happened before. He then read the chapters of the book and read that Macaque also attacked. I personally think he's mostly hurted by what Wukong did, not because it's worse of what Macaque did, but because he idolized Wukong for so long, and while he know he did so many wrongs in the past, his vision of a "hero" dissapeared in this moment. He s mostly dissapointed let's say. Of course it's not the best of things to put tour heroes on a pedal because you will always be dissapointed. I guess MK learned the lesson...
About what MK said in panel 8
Our monkey boy is remembering his own very stupid thing he sacrificied himself without trying to talk it out with the others AND using the circuit on Wukong.
About the posters
Tumblr media
Yes they were Monkey King posters. MK ripped them immediately after the vision because he still was not sure was reality and vision and was scared.
About the eye
Tumblr media
Because I would prefer no one dies of angst, his eye is fine, it s more like symbolism.
