i HATE how scripted delena's porch kiss looks. it's meant to be this spontaneous, "i just can't take it anymore" moment where he kind of catched her off guard and sweeps her off her feet. yet it just looks like nina is waiting for ian to finish his lines and then walk to her so that they can hold their lips together for the count of 10. it bother's me so much. if you're gonna do it, do it right. olitz is coming up on the blog recently and i HATE them too but at least they do this shit RIGHT

Yep. The blatantly scripted/contrived nature of DE scenes has been talked about quite frequently on here. I find the most egregious to be the shirt rip in 5x16:

The thing about ripping clothes for me is that it’s hardly ever done in a way that seems realistic or natural, like there’s no reason for why Elena couldn’t just take off his shirt

with the rain kiss being a close second:

It was random AF. They were just outside and it started raining and they stayed in the rain for literally no reason. It was such a contrived kiss, like it was clearly made to be fan service instead of there actually being any kind of context.

Like Nathan for Haley in the rain because he wants her so much

With Scott and Kira, there’s a storm and they just have to see each other anyway after spending a summer apart 

The O.C. was purposefully trying to recreate an iconic kiss with Summer and Seth

Pam and Jim, it happens to be raining, they’re at a gas stop, it’s not the most romantic environment but Jim can’t put off proposing to Pam anymore, he has to do it now 

and DE it’s just … she purposefully stands outside in the rain for ... WHAT reason? The aesthetic??

I'll never forget the experience of watching 5×17 SC scene live.It's still vivid in my mind because that scene pulled me back to tvd which I almost quit.I was like Wait Whaaatttt! I don't know how many times I have rewatched it.Also watching tvd with no idea about what was to come was a whole another experience since I didn't join fandom until much later.

What's your most watched Steroline scene?

God I remember seeing a glimpse of it in a trailer (I think it was after 5x11 aired or maybe 5x10) and was like OMFG ITS HAPPENING! And I was freaking out because it really looked like they were going to kiss but I was just so terrified it was going to be used as a way to bring SE back together and just ruin their friendship. Also like most I was becoming frustrated with the show and ready to just stop watching but they pulled me back in in 5x16 after the "I would do it for you too" moment. But when that scene aired in 5x17 I just remember it made my heart race and my palms started getting sweaty because it was so intimate and they never got intimate scenes like that and when Stefan was looking at her and staring at her lips and when he said "because that's what makes you you" I flailed.

My most watched is total cliche but I think it's the first proposal, I just grin like an idiot each time I swear it never gets old. The whole thing was just perfect.

Elena makes a little time to be jealous of Katherine/Stefan, but I kinda wish the non con element was explored more. A fools wish in this canon I know.

Stefan being sure Damon will tell Elena is adorable and pathetic. Adorthetic.

Elena hiding she’s coughing blood. These two do not communicate well.

Does Elena ever find out kidnapping Jeremy? I don’t remember. Anyway delena doesn’t work they both say that then have sex. Boy they don’t have the chops to pull it off. The sex should have been way more violent. Elena should break Damon’s stuff, throw Stefan figuring out the ruse first, maybe bring up the sire bond. Go deep not this weak ass limp dick stuff.

Tvd is that one show I watched for the longest time even though I almost quit during s4 and stopped watching live after s6.Caroline-Stefan was what pulled me back each time.So as disappointed as I was with the finale and disliked most of the writing choices,I would have regretted my decision to have stuck by until the end the most,if they had not walked down the aisle.

I almost quit in S5 after the whole Kathlena plot because I was just not having a good time and the only reason I didn't was because Stefan said "And I would do it for you too" in 5x16 and I was like wait maybe this really is gonna happen! S6 legit is my favorite season though, I think that's some of the best writing the show ever did and it actually made me like the show again after kinda hate watching it in S5. Also loving things that disappoint me regularly is pretty par for the course for me, like I'm a die-hard NY Mets fan and they disappoint me from May-September every year and I still come back every April like a clown.

The thing with the finale is I'm not disappointed with SC as much as I'm disappointed with Stefan's death, and not even that he died it's how he died. It's frustrating to watch a character you learn to love and watch them try to fight their mental health issues all for it to mean nothing in the end. Stefan fought addiction, depression and co-dependency for years and it felt like at the beginning of S8 he had finally gotten to a point where he was allowing himself to be happy despite all of that only for it to get crushed. Because Damon made him make a deal with the devil to save his future stepdaughters, and despite all that Damon got the happy ending.

Well it’s interesting because throughout the series we have seen men confess something to Elena and have Elena respond with her, as I like to call it, K-drama gape:

and the point of the K-drama gape is to be noncommittal, it’s to let the dudes say what they need to say without it seeming like she’s encouraging them or shutting them down so Elena is meant to be positioned in this place where she’s not leading them on but she’s also not being dismissive of their feelings, she’s just supposed to be stunned by what they’re saying, which is why I find 5x16 interesting because it’s not that.

She is clearly affected by the situation. It’s not an expressionless gape, I mean, she holds her breath, there’s a tension there that isn’t the tension she has with her other suitors where it’s her trying to think of saying the right thing or saying the hurtful thing and feeling bad, she just seems thrown.

And narratively speaking it’s a direct parallel to her situation with Damon in 2x01:

which adds another layer to her exhales because it’s as if she’s relieved that she can count on Stefan knowing who she is, something she couldn’t do with Damon
