There's some weird irony in Mickey getting shot by Kash in a jealous rage due to the shifting of Ian's affections with a gun that Kash only had available to shoot him with because Mickey gave it back to Ian in an uncharacteristic post-coital moment of kindness after Ian came to his house to get the gun back in an effort to protect Kash and ended up sleeping with Mickey, which is what began the the shift in his affections from Kash to Mickey. Unfortunately, I can't figure out a way to post this observation in any kind of pithy or funny way, and all I can come up with is an insane and possibly unintelligible run-on sentence to express it.

Mickey Looking at Ian

(yet another Noel Fisher appreciation post)

No because LOOK at the way he's looking at Ian. But not just Ian, Ian's hair. Noel has made continuity with specific Mickey gestures, and that's just one of the many reasons why I adore Mickey as a character, and Noel as an actor. It's all of the subtleties of a human that make him such a raw character, fascinating to admire in terms of performance. It's becoming a broken record at this point but every time you watch a scene you just catch these little things that make him the standout character he is, thanks to Noel.

I present you three different scenes where Mickey's eyes flicker from Ian to his hair, almost like on instinct, cause this is the man of his dreams apparently. No one else does it for him like Ian. The insane amount of love and desire he has for his ginger soulmate is outstanding.

EDIT: Adding the scene from prison cause and someone in the tags mentioned it, it's just so cute, cause I keep thinking of Mickey nagging him to get the buzzcut again, so Ian's response to Fiona about the hair was an excuse.

Tge thing with Shameless (and most brotish shows like that) is that the actors just look like regular average people. It's part of the charm

No because you're so right. Cover early seasons Noel Fisher in as much filth as you want and put characters in distressed clothes if you like, but it's really not hard to look past that and realise that everybody on Shameless US could be a fucking model.

It's in the framing of it all as well imo – and I really hope this isn't too graphic, and it's getting off the point a bit – but think of how Ian's underage sexual stuff is represented. US!Ian works in a strip club in a golden thong. He admits later on that he's starving himself to fit into it, and he's drugged to the gills, but the lighting and the camera work in the club can be so very flattering. UK!Ian is on his knees for grown men on filthy bathroom tiles, and it's disgusting, and it's uncomfortable to look at and unflatteringly shot, because it's awful.

It's the framing of it all – very beautiful, very above it all. The physical beauty and flawlessness of the actors just serves to heighten those choices even more and make the situations seem almost aspirational times, or somehow not as horrific. US!Debbie is dressing like she's older and getting prayed on by guys, and thinking she likes it, then getting older and more beautiful and getting tangled up with all these romances; UK!Debbie is wearing hoop earrings and a chavvy jacket with her hair scraped back, looking fucking miserable and at her wits end at having to play mother to all these fucking adults in her life.

I love the diversity of gay love stories on television rn. specifically when its people's first gay relationship. you can be young, old or anything in between. these relationships can build slowly over time, or it can be love at first sight. they can be intense and fiery, or quiet and gentle or both at different times. you can be in an accepting environment or an unaccepting one. so many stories are coming out and their all different and beautiful in their own ways and god i love gay people
