As promised in my previous post here is a video of Colm Wilkinson performing Bring Him Home on the TV gameshow 3-2-1 in 1986

He was much younger here, his voice is so rich and he sings this beautifully. You hear him talk to the host Ted Rogers too.

Shake The Eggs

Some flashy graphics pop onto your television screen, flashy graphics that say ‘Shake the Eggs!’, the text itself shakes and wiggles around the screen in a fun manner. Whatever this new television show is, it sure looks like fun! Look at how wacky this seems! I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly invested in whatever this is. Once the opening credits of this hip new show disappear and fade to black, we fade in to a sharply dressed man jump out from behind a curtain with his arms stretched out wide, a big ol’ smile on his face. He walks down a set of elaborate looking stairs and skips over to a pretty looking podium in the middle of the set.

Rex Hampley: Hello and welcome to the newest sensation on television, it’s Shake the Eggs!

Rex Hampley pauses for effect, and that pause is met with raucous applause from the audience. 

Rex Hampley: That’s right folks, we’re about to get underway with the newest gameshow sensation that’s hitting the nation! Let’s not waste any more time and lets get down to shaking those eggs!

More applause occurs as Rex Hampley walks over to the action area, where the contestants are standing. Rex Hampley goes to shake the hand of the first contestant in the line that he meets.

Rex Hampley: Alright first up we have Shawn Tinkleton, how are you Shawn?

Shawn Tinkleton flexes his muscles and flexes his butt cheek muscles as well although you can’t see those ones on camera but that doesn’t stop him from flexing them anyway. He’s very proud of his butt muscles. Anyway whatever.

Shawn Tinkleton: Howdy there Rex! I’m doing great Rex, my name is Shawn Tinkleton and I’m a professional bodybuilder!

Rex Hampley: I see! And how does one make bodybuilding a profession?

Shawn Tinkleton: Urm...

Rex Hampley: Great talk, Shawn! Ok lets move on to the next contestant! 

Rex Hampley walks away from the now speechless bodybuilder and approaches a smiley woman who has a big smile on her smiley face.

Rex Hampley: So here we have Gladys Hamfister.

Gladys Hamfister: DON’T TOUCH ME!

Gladys’ demeanour suddenly changes as she starts swinging her fists at the host.

Rex Hampley: Whoah I’m not trying to touch you.

Gladys Hamfister: Oh I’m sorry, I just get really jumpy around people.

Rex Hampley: That’s fine.

Gladys Hamfister: Anyway my name is Gladys and I’m a bus driver.

Rex Hampley: Well that’s great...

Rex backs away from Gladys and skips back over to his pretty looking podium.

Rex Hampley: Alright now we’ve met the contestants, lets get down to the game! Now in front of each contestant is a big box of eggs. I want you both to select an egg from the egg box, and then you’re going to shake the egg. It’s simple!

Shawn Tinkleton: That’s it?

Rex Hampley: That’s it!

Gladys Hamfister: Then what happens?

Rex Hampley: Well lets find out, as we play SHAKE! THE! EGGS! 

The theme tune plays again as the two contestants look at each other in mild confusion. Shawn picks up an egg from the egg box and starts to shake it.

Rex Hampley: Harder! Shake it harder! Shake the egg!

Shawn starts to shake the egg harder, not really sure what’s going on. 

Rex Hampley: Ok that’s enough! Now hold the egg out!

Shawn continues to look confused, but he stops shaking the egg and he holds his hand out flat, the egg resting in the middle of his palm. Rex Hampley walks over and inspects the egg carefully, waiting for something to happen. Nothing happens.

Rex Hampley: Well, nice try there Shawn but you were unsuccessful. As we all know, the winning egg is the one that explodes like a can of soda whenever you shake it enough, and the egg that you selected was just a standard run of the mill egg with nothing special about it. Unlucky. Ok Gladys, now you select an egg.

Gladys does as she is told, picking up an egg from the egg box and shaking it vigorously. After a period of time, she too ceases the shaking and holds her hand out, the egg resting in the middle of her palm. Rex Hampley inspects this egg as well.

Rex Hampley: Hmm... Nope! This isn’t the winning egg either! Looks like we go again for another round of SHAKE! THE! EGGS!

The two contestants are standing there with their hands out, egg in hand. Rex Hampley knocks the eggs from both of their hands, the shaken eggs landing on the floor and smashing. Now they go again. Now they shake some more eggs. People will watch anything on TV.
