It was 30 years ago: Kronos Quartet's Night Prayers was released on Nonesuch. On the album, composers from Eastern Europe and Central Asia offer work reflecting upon Jewish, Islamic, and Christian spiritual traditions. Guests include Dawn Upshaw, Djivan Gasparian, and the Throat Singers of Tuva. You can hear it here.

while alison’s sound is definitely pop, she has such an appreciation for all music. there’s no “ i like everything except … ” she listens to everything. pop, country, rap, irish folk, she even went through a tuvan throat singing phase while studying for college when she went. she thinks music is just the most beautiful thing humanity’s ever conceived, in all it’s forms, and sue her! she wants to contribute!
