i love the ROBOT CARNIVAL anthology so much that i wanted to try my hand at doing a track from one of my favorite segments, yasuomi umetsu's PRESENCE (my no.1 favorite segment is koji moritmoto's FRANKEN'S GEARS lol that one's literally why i love drawing unending wires & machine detritus)

no joke i saw ROBOT CARNIVAL on the scifi channel when i was 8 years old & it was one of those formative things that altered the trajectory of my life from that moment on, PRESENCE especially!

i think miyazaki fake retires every time not as a gimmick but to make sure joe hisaishi goes flat out balls to the wall this is my last shot and i will eat and leave no crumbs. and you know what? he always does, every time

Something I haven't seen people mention when talking about The Boy and the Heron, but is something I'm very obsessed with is the score. All of it is beautiful, but I just love how they used the Herons motif. It grows from a single note into a full song over the first chapter of the movie and its just so good.

Honestly the soundtrack is a beautiful story in its own right.
