Summary: When you and Wolffe are stranded during your first mission together in months, you're forced to confront the feelings between you that have been threatening to break through the surface.

Youâve never seen a storm this bad.
The clouds are roiling and thundering above, but they aren't the typical gray you've come to expect. They are an ugly shade of yellow-green, as though there's an eerie, toxic glow coming from within. Lightning flashes across the sky, and with each successive burst you feel the rumble deep in your bones. The air is thick and wet, and the rain that pours down is torrential, but it isn't water.
The acid rains from the toxic atmosphere are a blessing and a curse. It washes away the filth of the world, but at the cost of further destroying the planet's natural ecosystem. It's the reason why all the humans are locked inside a walled city, why most of the animal species are extinct.
Itâs also the reason why you and Wolffe are stuck here.
You've been assigned on a scouting mission, the first one for you since you were knighted. There was a group of battle droids sighted near the wall, and the Council didnât want to take any chances. If there was an attack, the city would be completely defenseless.
A normal scouting mission would be simple enough, even during a storm. It would just require a couple hours of searching, and then you could report back. But you werenât prepared for a storm this strong. The rain is so thick that you can barely see a few feet in front of you, the only light from the occasional flash of lightning. There are no signs of the droids, which means that the mission has become a fruitless endeavor. And with the acid rain threatening to burn into your skin, you can tell that it isn't safe to be outside for long.
Your comms have been down for hours, and you and Wolffe have no choice but to make your way back to the city.
"We need to find some sort of shelter," you say, shouting over the roar of the storm. "At least until this blows over."
Wolffe doesnât look pleased. "We need to keep looking. Those droidsâ"
"They've either been washed away by the rain or they're gone. We'll head out again when the weather clears." You're the General now, so the mission is ultimately your responsibility. Wolffe grunts his displeasure, but you know that he'll obey.
There's a flash of lightning, and you shield your eyes from the glare. The rumble of thunder is louder than before, and you feel the vibration of it under your feet.
You shiver as another gust of wind cuts through your robes, the heavy material doing little to protect you from the elements. "I donât have the protection you do, Wolffe. I can't stay out here much longer."
The tension in Wolffe's form eases, and he gives you a nod before turning. He begins to walk away, and you have to jog to keep up with his long strides.
The two of you stumble through the storm for what seems like ages. There are no natural shelters nearby, no caves or overhangs, nothing. You've made it back to the area where the droids were spotted, but you haven't found anything of note. Just dead trees, trees, and more trees. It's starting to become clear to you why no one has made an attempt to reclaim this part of the planet.
Then you notice a glint of metal in the distance.
"Wait." You hold up a hand.
Wolffe stops immediately, his hand dropping to his blaster.
You step closer, peering through the storm. There's definitely something there. You reach out, trying to get a sense of it. The Force is murky and turbulent, but you manage to get a vague idea of what you're dealing with.
"I think it's a bunker," you tell him. "And it's unoccupied."
Wolffe grunts, and he starts off towards the glimmer. You follow behind, trying to keep your footing on the muddy ground. The rain is starting to become too much, and you can barely see where you're going.
Finally, the entrance comes into view. It's a hatch in the ground, the metal rusted and corroded by time.
You're already kneeling down and reaching for it when Wolffe pulls you back.
"Let me go first," he says.
You huff and stand back, crossing your arms. You don't bother to protest. It's not worth the energy, and it's obvious that Wolffe won't be persuaded.
Wolffe kneels down, and you watch as he lifts the hatch, yanking it open with a grunt. You can see him hesitate, but after a moment, he lowers himself inside.
There's a long pause, and then he calls up. "Clear."
The ladder is slick and rusted, and you cling tightly to the rungs as you descend. You finally make it down, and your feet hit the concrete floor with a soft thump. Wolffe is at your side as soon as you're stable, his helmet sweeping over you from head to toe, his hand on your elbow.
You roll your eyes, but your annoyance is tinged with fondness.
"I'm fine," you say, trying to brush the hair out of your face. Your ponytail has come loose, and the wet strands cling to your face.
Wolffe just nods, but he doesn't move away. Instead, his hands come up, and he gently pushes the hair out of your eyes. His thumb brushes over the curve of your cheek, and he lingers for a moment before he drops his hand.
The movement is quick, so quick that you're not sure if you imagined it. But Wolffe's thumb was warm against the skin of your cheek, and the feeling lingers.
You're about to say something, but he's already turning away, moving to inspect the bunker. You let out a breath, and then shake yourself, pushing down the feeling in your chest.
The bunker is small and dark, barely illuminated by the faint glow from the emergency lights. There are crates scattered around, and a couple old terminals along the far wall. You can see the silhouettes of worker droids, but they're so covered in cobwebs and rust that they've long been rendered inoperable. A thick durasteel door is on the opposite wall, leading to another part of the facility.
"Stay here," Wolffe says, heading for the door.
You frown. "Why?"
"There could be enemies in there," he replies, already pulling his blaster.
âThere isnât,â you insist. You try to peer through the doorway, but it's too dark to make anything out. "If there were, I would sense it."
"I still need to check."
You cross your arms, letting out an annoyed sigh. You hate feeling useless, especially when you're a general, but you can't fault Wolffe for wanting to be cautious. It's the exact kind of behavior that has earned him his reputation.
"Fine," you mutter. You walk over to one of the terminals, trying to get it to turn on as you hear Wolffe wrench the door open.
It takes a few moments, but the terminal finally hums to life, the screen flickering before glowing a dull green. There's a few old files on there, some reports and logs, but you can't access them without the proper password. You didnât bring your slicing kit, and even if you did, the terminal is far too old to use it.
Wolffe's voice floats in from the other room. "Clear!"
You stand and stretch, wincing as the rainwater sloshes in your boots. "Anything interesting?"
"A few things," Wolffe replies. "Looks like they were testing some kind of weapons system."
"Weapons? On this planet?" You raise your eyebrows. "Who would be stupid enough to do that?"
âStupid enough, or desperate enough," he says. He walks back into the room, prying his helmet off his head and tossing it on a nearby crate. He looks at you, and his expression softens. "Find anything useful?"
You gesture to the terminal. "Some logs. I can't access them, though. Do you have the data drive? Itâs a long shot, but it might be compatible.â
Wolffe pulls the data drive out from the pouch at his waist, handing it to you. It's a slim cylinder, the silver metal shiny and unblemished. You plug it in, and the terminal makes a faint beeping noise, the screen flickering before a login window appears.
"Got it," you say, typing in a command.
"Good work."
âDon't sound so surprised."
Wolffe huffs, and you hear the sound of footsteps as he comes up behind you. He stands next to you, and the two of you watch the progress bar creep along the screen, the connection to the nearest satellite weak, but stable.
"Looks like we might have to wait a while," he says, resting a hand on the edge of the terminal as he peers over your shoulder. His voice is deep and rough, and it rumbles against you. You're pressed up against his chest, and you can feel the warmth of him, his body heat soaking through his armor and into your skin.
You swallow, trying to keep your breathing steady. "Looks like."
It's almost unnerving how quickly you fall back into this pattern. Wolffe hasn't even touched you yet, not really, but your skin feels too tight and hot. You're hyper aware of him, every movement, every breath. You've never wanted him this much, and it scares you.
The two of you have a complicated history. Before you were knighted, you and Wolffe were... close. Not lovers, but not quite friends, either. It was difficult for the both of you to define the nature of your relationship, but you were certainly more than coworkers. Master Plo had always said that you were a good influence on him, that you tempered his rough edges, but the truth was that he had tempered yours. You were reckless and impulsive, and Wolffe grounded you, kept you focused. You needed each other, in a way.
But when you were knighted, you were sent away, and you haven't seen each other since.
And now...
Well.
The progress bar continues to crawl across the screen, the green light flickering and casting an eerie glow. Wolffe lets out a frustrated sigh.
"This is taking too long," he says, stepping away from you. He turns, and his gaze falls on the crates scattered around the room. He goes over and begins inspecting them, his fingers prying the lids open.
"You're such a grouch," you tell him with a laugh, leaning against the terminal and watching him work.
He snorts. "And you're a brat."
"I didn't choose the mission, Wolffe,â you say, rolling your eyes. "Besides, there are worse places we could be."
"This place is a shithole."
"Maybe, but at least we're not in the storm."
"Hm."
There's the clang of a lid hitting the floor, and then the sound of metal scraping. Wolffe stands, a couple of water canisters in his hand.
"I found some water," he calls over. "And some ration packs. Enough to last us a few days, if we have to."
"Well, hopefully it won't come to that," you say as you turn back to the terminal. "I'd hate for you to have to put up with me for that long."
"It's not so bad."
You smile to yourself, ducking your head so that he can't see. "Don't lie. We both know you'd rather be anywhere else."
"I didn't say that,â he says, and his tone is oddly serious.
"Oh."
Wolffe doesn't say anything after that, and the silence stretches on, the only sound the whir of the terminal as it processes the data. There's a sudden loud crack of thunder, and the sound of rain drumming on the roof of the bunker is louder than before. You wince at the sound as you start to parse through the local files on the terminal, searching for a map.Â
It's difficult to focus on the task at hand. The room is small, and you're hyper aware of Wolffe moving around. He's still investigating, and you hear him rustling around in the crates, the sound of the lids being opened and shut. You try to pay attention to the screen, but you're not able to concentrate.
"You okay?"
You blink and realize that Wolffe is standing right behind you.
"Yes, of course. Why do you ask?" you reply, turning around to face him.
He crosses his arms, his brow furrowed in concern. "You've been staring at the same file for ten minutes."
You flush, embarrassed, and quickly exit out of the menu. "I was just..."
You trail off. You were just what? Trying to figure out what you're doing? Trying to decide how to act around him, when everything is so different now?
Wolffe doesn't seem convinced, and his frown deepens.
"I'm fine, Wolffe," you mutter.
He scoffs, shaking his head. "Don't bullshit me, jet'ika. I've known you for too long."
Jet'ika. Little Jedi.
The nickname was given to you when you first met, and Wolffe had called you that ever since. It didn't matter that you were already an adult back then, nearly twice as old as he was, or that you were a full-fledged knight now. It was just part of the banter the two of you had, and the fondness in the nickname made your chest warm.
"I'm notâ" you begin, but the words die in your throat as you meet his eyes. His stare feels like a physical weight, and your stomach clenches as your gaze flicks over his face. The scar, the dark circles under his eyes, the harsh lines of his face. All the changes that time had wrought.
You've thought about this man almost constantly since you left, but now that he's in front of you, you feel almost... intimidated.
"You look tired," Wolffe says after a moment, his voice low and gruff.
"That's... a little rude," you say.
"I'm just saying." He shrugs, and then reaches out, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. His hand lingers, and you let out a quiet sigh, the tension in your shoulders easing.
"Fine," you huff. "I'm tired, and Iâm freezing, and these robes aren't exactly made for the weather. But we're stuck here, and it's not like there's anything we can do about it."
"Thought so,â he replies, his voice smug. His hand drifts down to take the hem of your robes between his fingers. He gives them a little tug. "You know, you could always take off those wet robes."
You know he's teasing, but the suggestion still sends a jolt of heat through you. You glance up, meeting his eyes. There's an intensity in his gaze, and you have a feeling that he knows exactly what he's doing.
"Oh yeah?" you ask, unable to keep the husky tone out of your voice. You grin, giving him a sly smile. "You think so?"
"Yes, sir."
You let out a breathy laugh, and Wolffe's mouth quirks in a half-smile. It's been a long time since you've flirted with him, but it seems like he hasn't lost his touch. You can feel the tension crackling between the two of you. It's always been like this, and you can't deny that there's a part of you that wishes he would just pull you into his arms and kiss you senseless.
But you know it wouldn't be that simple. There are complications, complications that the two of you can't ignore. It's why you haven't acted on the feelings between you, why you've tried to forget them.
You're a Jedi Knight now. And Wolffe is a Clone Marshal Commander.
Neither one of you have the freedom to be together.
Still, though, you can't help but tease him.
"Well," you say, slowly taking off your robes, "if you insist."
Itâs not as if youâre revealing anything by allowing your outer robe to slide down your shoulders. Youâre still wearing armor, after all. But the effect is still the same, and you can see his eyes roaming over your body, lingering on the way your leggings cling to your thighs, the curve of your ass.
You smirk and set the wet material aside. "Better?"
"Yeah," he replies, his voice a low rasp.
You're tempted to tease him further, to see how far you can push him. But you know that there's only so far you can go before one of you breaks, and you're not sure either of you are ready to face the consequences.
So instead, you turn back to the terminal, trying to distract yourself.
The storm rages on, the thunder shaking the bunker. After a few minutes, you start to shiver. The room is cold and damp, and the temperature has dropped as the storm worsens. You wrap your arms around yourself, and the armor on your forearms isn't doing much to warm you up.
Wolffe steps closer, and his hand brushes against your arm.
"You're shivering," he says, frowning.
"Yeah, I'm cold."
He doesn't say anything. He just takes off his gauntlets and tosses them on the floor. You watch out of the corner of your eye as he starts undoing the straps and buckles of his armor, pulling it off and stacking the pieces on the floor next to him. You don't understand what he's doing until he pulls his chestplate off and drops it, and then wraps an arm around your shoulders, tugging you against his chest.
You don't resist, allowing yourself to lean into him. The undersuit he wears beneath his armor is made from a thick, insulated material, and the heat of him seeps through the thin fabric of your tunic. He's so warm, and you relax, letting out a content sigh.
"That better?" he asks, his breath warm against your ear. You shiver at the sensation.
"Yeah," you say, closing your eyes. He snorts, his breath fanning over the top of your head. You can't stop the small smile from tugging at the corner of your mouth. "Thanks."
The two of you stand like that for a while, his arms wrapped around your waist. You try to keep working on the data, but it's difficult to focus with him so close. His chest is pressed against your back, and every time you breathe, the soft swell of his pecs is against your shoulder blades. You can't help but let your mind wander, imagining what he looks like under the armor, the planes of his chest and the ridges of his abdomen. You've always had a fascination with the strength of the clones, and Wolffe is no exception.
Wolffe doesn't move, his arms staying looped around your waist. His hands rest on your hips, and he shifts occasionally, his thumb stroking over the jut of your hip. After a while, he rests his chin on the top of your head, his stubble scratching at your scalp.
"Are you warm enough?" he murmurs, his breath stirring the hairs on the top of your head.
You hesitate. Wolffe runs hotter than most humans, his enhanced genetics making him a living furnace. You started to feel warm a while ago, and the air inside the bunker is stifling. But you can't deny that you don't mind having his arms wrapped around you, and you're reluctant to give up his touch.
"Not yet," you say, a hint of cheekiness in your voice.
He huffs, and his arms tighten around your waist. His fingers press into your sides, the pressure sending a shiver down your spine.
"Don't test me, jet'ika,â he grumbles, and his breath fans over the shell of your ear.
"Why not?"
"You know why."
His words send a jolt of heat through you, and you squirm against him. You feel his grip tighten on your waist, his hands flexing to keep you in place.
Heâs right. You do. But down here, away from the prying eyes of the Council and the GAR, it's easy to forget all of the reasons why you shouldn't be with him. You can almost imagine a future where the two of you could be together, one where the war doesn't exist.
Almost.
"I know," you murmur at last, and you feel him relax slightly.
"Good."
There's a pause, and the air grows heavier, the tension becoming more palpable. You can feel the press of his chest against your back, and his hands have moved, his fingers tracing idle patterns over the skin of your hip. His nose finds the curve of your neck, and you can feel him breathing, the tickle of his breath on the sensitive skin of your nape.
You let out a sigh, letting yourself sink back into him. Your eyes drift shut, and you relax against his chest, giving in to the comfort of his touch. He's so warm, and it's so nice to be held. You canât help but imagine what it would be like if things were different. If you weren't a Jedi, and he wasn't a clone. If the two of you had met in another life, another universe. If the two of you could just be.
You spend a long time like that, standing in the circle of his arms. The storm is raging outside, and the bunker is dark and cold, but his presence is enough to make you feel warm and safe.
Eventually, Wolffe pulls away, and the two of you move apart. The chill in the air is sharp against your skin, and you miss his warmth immediately. You want to lean back into him, to bury yourself in his embrace, but you resist.
You turn to face him, and he meets your gaze, his eyes dark.
"Come on," he says, his tone gruff. "Let's see what else we can find."
You nod, trying to ignore the way your heart clenches as you watch him put his armor back on, his back to you. You know it's for the best, but it still hurts. You shake yourself, pushing down the sadness. It's not a productive emotion, and it won't help the situation.
"There could be old tech down there," he continues. "It could be worth checking out."
"You're right," you say, forcing yourself to smile. "We might as well see if we can find anything useful."
You follow him deeper into the facilityy, taking note of the way his shoulders are tense, the way his helmet constantly sweeps the corridor, searching for any sign of danger.
The bunker is even colder now, and you shiver as you descend further underground. Wolffe leads the way, his flashlight cutting through the gloom and outshining the light of your saber.
After a while, you come across a door, the metal rusted and caked with grime.
"Think this is worth checking out?" Wolffe asks, looking at you.
"Could be," you reply, inspecting the door. "Looks like an old storage area. We should be able to find some supplies in there, at least."
Wolffe nods, and he grabs the handle, wrenching the door open. There's a faint creak of metal, and the sound of dust being disturbed. He nudges you aside, his arm brushing against yours.
"Wait here," he says. "Let me check it first."
You let out an exasperated sigh. "Really, Wolffe?"
"Really."
"Fine."
Wolffe gives you a look, his helmet dipping down toward you. He doesn't move until you nod, and then he's stepping forward, disappearing into the darkness. You hear his footsteps receding, and then the sounds of crates being shifted and opened.
A few moments later, he comes back, his flashlight sweeping over the doorframe.
âWhat is it?â you ask, your eyes tracking his movement.
âLooks like a med bay. Nothing useful, anyways. Just a cot and some storage lockers. We should keep going, see if we can find anything else."
"Yeah," you say, and you let out a sigh. "Yeah, okay."
The two of you continue to search, but the other rooms are just as empty and abandoned as the first. The bunker seems to be a relic from the past, a forgotten piece of history.
Finally, after what feels like hours of searching, the two of you make your way back to the entrance. You can still hear the storm raging above, the thunder rattling the metal hatch.
"We'll have to wait it out," Wolffe says, and you can hear the frustration in his voice. "The ship can't land until the storm passes."
"Great." You groan, rubbing your forehead. "I'm sorry, Wolffe. I know this is a waste of time."
"It's not your fault, jet'ika. It's the kriffing weather. It'll blow over soon, and then we can get the hell off this planet."
You let out a breath and turn away, trying to quell the frustration that's bubbling up inside of you. You can't help but feel as though you're failing at your first official assignment as a general, that you're letting Wolffe down. It was a simple mission, and you can't even complete it properly.
"Hey."
Wolffe's hand lands on your shoulder, and he gives you a gentle squeeze.
"We'll be fine," he says. "It's not your fault. These things happen."
"Yeah, butâ"
"Stop," he interrupts, and the harshness of his tone makes you jump. "Just stop."
"Okay, okay," you mutter. "Sorry."
He shakes his head, his hand sliding up to cup the back of your neck. His thumb rubs soothing circles against your skin, and you feel the tension start to drain out of you.
"You're always too hard on yourself." His voice is softer now, and his grip on your neck loosens. "This is hardly the worst thing that could've happened."
You huff, leaning back against his chest. You can't deny that the contact is comforting, that his touch is grounding.
"Maybe," you murmur, and he lets out a sigh, his fingers digging into the skin of your neck.
"No 'maybe'. We'll be fine, and we'll get out of here as soon as the storm passes."
"Okay, Wolffe," you whisper, letting yourself relax into his hold. "You're right."
"Of course I am."
"You're also insufferable."
"And yet, you put up with me."
"For some reason, I do."
He snorts, his breath warm against the back of your neck. "Must be my winning personality."
You laugh, and Wolffe's hand slides down your back, coming to rest on your hip. You shiver at the contact, your skin tingling where his palm presses against you, and you can feel him tense up behind you.
"Sorry," he murmurs, but he doesn't remove his hand.
"It's okay," you reply, and the two of you stand in silence for a long moment. The only sound is the storm outside, the thunder rolling and the rain pounding against the metal hatch.
"Are you still cold?" he asks eventually, and the rumble of his voice against your back sends a shiver down your spine.
"A little," you reply, and he sighs.
"Come on," he says. "Let's get you warmed up."
Before you can ask what he means, he's pulling you back down the corridor. He leads you back to the first room, the one with the bed and the storage lockers.
"What are you doing?" you ask, and he lets go of your hand as he moves to one of the lockers.
"Found something earlier," he replies, and he pulls open the door. There are a few blankets and pillows inside, and he starts gathering them up. He tosses them onto the bed before he starts to unclip his armor, and your cheeks flush when you realize what he's doing.
"Wolffe, I don'tâ"
"Get over here," he says, and there's no room for argument in his tone.
You hesitate for a moment, but then he shoots you a look, and you obey. You cross the room, and he helps you remove your armor, placing the pieces carefully on the floor alongside his. The sight of the plastoid strewn about together makes something inside of you stir, and you quickly turn your attention to the bed.
The sheets are thin and worn, but they're soft and clean. Wolffe takes one of the blankets and wraps it around your shoulders, his hands lingering.
"Thank you," you murmur, and he nods, stepping back. He turns away and busies himself with the bedding, fluffing the pillows and spreading the blankets out. It's strangely domestic, and it makes something inside of you ache.
After a few minutes, he's finished, and he gestures to the bed.
"Come on," he says, his voice rough.
The mattress creaks as the two of you climb in, and it's not as uncomfortable as you expected. Wolffe lies on his back, and you tuck yourself against his side, resting your head on his chest. He pulls the blankets up over the two of you, and the warmth is immediate.
"Better?" he asks, and you hum in agreement.
"Yeah, much."
"Good."
You can hear his heartbeat, strong and steady. You rest your hand on his chest, feeling the rise and fall of his breath. He's warm and solid beneath you, and you can't help but enjoy the sensation of his body against yours.
"This is nice," you murmur before you can stop yourself.
"Yeah," he replies, his voice a low rumble.
You nuzzle into him, and you feel his arm wrap around your shoulders, tugging you closer. The two of you lie like that for a while, neither of you saying anything. The sound of the storm is muffled, and the quiet is almost peaceful.
You know you shouldn't be doing this, that it's crossing a line that shouldn't be crossed. But it's hard to care about that right now, not when you're warm and comfortable, wrapped in his arms.
"I'm sorry I dragged you out here," you say, your voice soft.
"It's not your fault," Wolffe replies, his fingers absentmindedly stroking your shoulder. "I volunteered. We're soldiers, jet'ika. We go where we're told."
"Still."
He huffs. "Still, I've been stuck with worse people."
"Gee, thanks, Wolffe." You roll your eyes.
He chuckles, the sound rumbling in his chest. "You know what I mean."
"Yeah, yeah."
The two of you fall silent again, the only sounds the rain and the occasional rumble of thunder. You know you should leave it there, but the words are on the tip of your tongue, and before you can stop yourself, you blurt them out.
"Why did you volunteer? Why didn't you send someone else?"
Wolffe's hand stills, and you shift, pressing your cheek to his chest. You can feel the rhythmic thump of his heartbeat, and it picks up speed.
There's a long pause, and then Wolffe speaks again, his voice gruff.
"Because I wanted to see you," he admits, and your heart skips a beat.
"Oh," you say, your throat tightening. "Oh."
He clears his throat, his hand starting to stroke your shoulder again.
"I haven't seen you in a long time, jet'ika."
Your stomach twists, and the ache in your chest grows stronger. You press your lips together, trying to hide your reaction.
"You shouldn't have done that," you murmur.
"I know."
You sit up, propping yourself up on your elbow so that you can look at him. His face is half-shadowed, the dim light from the corridor casting strange patterns on his skin. His eyes are dark, and there's a vulnerability in them that you haven't seen in a long time.
"Wolffe, we can't do this. It'sâ"
"I know," he interrupts. "I know."
He sighs, reaching up and cupping the side of your face. His palm is rough and warm, and the calluses scratch pleasantly against your cheek, his thumb brushing over the curve of your jaw.
"But I had to see you," he says, his voice rough. "Even if it was just once. I've missed you."
Your heart clenches at his words, and you feel tears stinging at the corner of your eyes. You can't deny that you've missed him, too. That the thought of being with him has kept you awake at night, has made you ache in ways you can't name.
You lean into his touch, unable to resist. "I've missed you, too," you whisper.
He pulls you closer, his hand moving to the back of your neck. His grip is firm, and you can feel his desperation in the way he holds you. He leans forward, pressing his forehead against yours, and the two of you breathe in sync, the air thick between you.
"Wolffe," you say, your voice strained.
"I know," he replies.
His fingers trail down your neck, his touch sending sparks of electricity across your skin. His hand moves lower, his thumb brushing over the curve of your collarbone. Your breath catches, and you can't stop the small sound that escapes you.
"I can't stop thinking about you," he murmurs. "About what it would be like, if we could..."
"If we could be together," you finish, your voice barely a whisper, and you reach up to trace the line of his jaw. His stubble is rough under your fingers, and you can feel the heat radiating off him.
"Yeah," he says, and the sadness in his voice breaks your heart.
You want to tell him that it's not possible, that there's nothing either of you can do, but the words die in your throat. He's so close, and the longing is too strong, too powerful.
"Me, too," you whisper, and then his mouth is on yours.
Wolffe's kiss is desperate, hot and demanding, and you can't stop the moan that slips out as the ache inside you finally, finally eases. Wolffe's hands move to your waist, and he pulls you into his lap, the blanket falling to the side. Your thighs bracket his hips, and you can feel the press of him between your legs, the heat and hardness of him.
He deepens the kiss, his tongue swiping against the seam of your lips. You part for him, allowing him entrance, and he groans, the sound rumbling in his chest. His hands move lower, his palms splayed over the curve of your ass, and he grips you tightly, his fingers digging into the flesh.
You arch into him, and his touch sends shivers down your spine, goosebumps erupting on your skin. He's everywhere, his scent and his taste overwhelming, and you're lost in the sensation of him, his kiss driving away all rational thought.
You know you should stop this, that this is crossing a line that can't be uncrossed, but the thought is fleeting, and soon, all you can think about is Wolffe, the heat of him and the feel of him under your fingertips.
You grind down onto him, and the two of you let out a groan in unison, the friction sending a spark of pleasure through you. Wolffe's hands tighten on your hips, and he rocks up, his erection pressing into the apex of your thighs.
"Fuck," he growls, his hand tangling in your hair. He pulls your head back, exposing your neck, and he presses his mouth to the hollow of your throat. You gasp, your eyes fluttering closed, and you feel his lips curl into a smile against your skin.
He trails kisses down your neck, his teeth scraping along your pulse point. You shudder, the sensation overwhelming, and your nails dig into his shoulders.
"Wolffe," you breathe, and he pulls back, searching your face.
"What do you want?" he asks, his voice a low rumble.
You swallow, and his eyes track the movement, his tongue flicking out to wet his lips.
"You. I want you," you gasp, and his grip on your hair tightens.
"Be specific," he growls, his eyes blazing.
You squirm in his lap at his command, grinding down on his cock. He hisses, his jaw clenching, and you can see the tendons straining in his neck.
"I want your mouth on me. I want you to touch me. I wantâ fuck, Wolffe, I want everything." You can't stop the words from spilling out, and you feel a flush creeping up your cheeks. "I want to pretend that you're mine, just for a little while."
He lets out a shaky breath, his chest heaving.
"Yeah, jet'ika. Fuck. You can have whatever you want."
"Kiss me," you whisper, and his lips crash onto yours.
His kiss is even more frantic now, and you can feel the heat rising between the two of you. He bites at your lower lip, sucking it into his mouth, and you moan, your hips jerking. You're overwhelmed by him, his scent and his taste and the heat of his body.
You feel as though you're burning up, the heat of him searing through the fabric of your clothing, and the urge to rip the layers of cloth between the two of you away is nearly unbearable. You break the kiss, panting, and the two of you stare at each other, both of you trying to catch your breath.
Wolffe's eyes are dark and hungry, and there's a flush high on his cheeks, his pupils blown wide.
"Take off your shirt," he growls, and you don't hesitate.
You yank your tunic off, and the cool air of the room is a shock against your bare skin. By the time you've thrown it to the floor, Wolffe's pulled off his own.
His chest is broad and muscular, and the sight of his naked skin makes your mouth water. You've always known him to be bigger than the other clones, but seeing him like this is different. You've never seen him like this before, and the desire coursing through you is almost primal.
Wolffe seems just as eager, and he stares at you with blatant hunger, his eyes raking over your form. You reach out and run your fingers through the hair on his chest, feeling the muscles tense beneath your touch, and he grabs your wrist, pulling your hand away.
"Jet'ika," he murmurs, his eyes hooded. "Let me see you."
You nod, swallowing thickly, and then the two of you are moving. He reaches up and undoes the bindings around your breasts, letting the fabric fall to the side. The air is cool against your nipples, and they stiffen, the sensation sending a shiver through you.
Wolffe's eyes darken, and his hands move to cup your breasts, his palms rough against your sensitive skin. You moan, arching into his touch, and his thumbs brush over your nipples, the friction making them pebble.
"Fuck," he mutters, and he pinches one of the stiff peaks, making you gasp. "So pretty. Look at you."
He continues his exploration, his hands roaming over your skin. He kneads your breasts, his thumbs rolling over your nipples, and you let out a shuddering breath. You can't stop the whine that escapes you as he rolls your nipple between his thumb and forefinger, tugging and squeezing. It's a delicious sort of pain, and you grind down, your clit throbbing.
Wolffe smirks, his eyes dark and heated.
"And so sensitive," he murmurs.
"Please," you whimper, arching into his touch.
"Patience," he says, and he pulls you closer. He wraps his arms around your waist and shifts so that you're lying on your back, and he's looming over you, his knees straddling your thighs. "If we're going to do this, I'm going to take my time with you. I've been waiting a long time for this."
You're tempted to tell him that it's the same for you, but the words are lost as his mouth finds your nipple. He teases and sucks, his tongue laving over the sensitive flesh. You moan, your hands gripping his shoulders. His hands are everywhere, touching and stroking, and you're lost in the sensation of finally having him so close.
It's only when his teeth nip the underside of your breast that you're jerked out of your reverie.
"Wolffe," you hiss, and he chuckles, the vibration sending shivers down your spine.
"Sorry," he mutters, pressing a kiss to the spot. His tongue soothes the sting, and the dual sensations make your head spin. "Got a little carried away."
"It's okay," you pant. "Feels good."
"It'll bruise," he warns.
You shrug, running your hands over his back. "I don't care."
He looks up, his gaze searching. You meet his eyes, and he gives you a crooked smile.
"In that case..."
You whine as Wolffe presses his teeth to your skin again, and the pain makes your cunt clench around nothing. You've never been into this before, but the idea of Wolffe marking you, of being able to look down and see evidence of his claim, makes your blood sing.
"Fuck," you gasp, and he hums against you, his mouth hot and wet.
"Gonna mark you up, jet'ika," he mutters, and then his teeth are sinking into your skin, and you keen, his name tumbling from your lips.
"Oh, kriff. Wolffe!"
His mouth travels across your chest, leaving a trail of bruises and bite marks in his wake. The storm outside is a distant rumble, overpowered by the sounds of your gasps and moans, the slick sounds of his mouth against your skin, the harsh pants of his breath.
The heat of him is overwhelming, and your senses are on fire, the pain and pleasure intertwined, the two of you lost in a haze of lust. You can't stop the urge to rock your hips, desperate for some kind of friction, and you grind against him, his cock hard against your stomach.
"So good," you moan, and his hand slides between your thighs, cupping the heat of you.
"Impatient," he mutters, and he nips at the soft skin below your navel. You shudder, your hands fisting in his hair, and he gives a low chuckle.
"Need you," you plead, and he looks up at you, his expression heated.
"You have me," he murmurs, and the words hit you like a punch to the gut. You swallow thickly, trying to ignore the way they make your heart skip a beat, and the ache inside of you grows.
Wolffe leans back, his eyes roaming over your body, his gaze burning. He strokes the skin of your stomach, his fingertips tracing over the scars and marks. Even in the low light, the evidence of his attention is evident, and the sight of the red and purple marks against your skin makes something possessive flare in his eyes.
"Such a pretty little thing," he murmurs. "I've always wanted to see you like this."
"Wolffe, please."
"Shh," he whispers, pressing a kiss to the crease of your hip. "I'm getting there."
His fingers dip below the waistband of your leggings, and you lift your hips, helping him peel the fabric off. You're left in just your underwear, and you can feel the wetness soaking the fabric, the need inside you almost unbearable.
Wolffe sits back on his heels, and he swears under his breath as his gaze settles on the apex of your thighs. He runs a hand through his hair, his eyes dark.
"Look at you," he breathes, and his fingers ghost over your sex, the feather-light touch making you shiver. His thumb hooks into your underwear, and he tugs, the silken fabric brushing over your clit. âI donât think this is GAR regulation, jet'ika,â
"It's not," you admit, your cheeks heating.
He groans, his eyes falling shut. "Fucking hells."
He tugs again, the fabric slipping between your folds. It's damp, and you whimper, the sensation almost too much. You can't remember the last time you were this aroused, this turned on. The sight of Wolffe above you, his gaze dark and intense, is almost enough to make you come, and he hasn't even touched you yet.
"Soaked," he mutters, and the rasp in his voice sends a shudder through you.
"For you," you gasp, and he sucks in a sharp breath.
He leans down and presses his mouth to your clothed sex, the warmth of his breath fanning over you. His stubble is rough against your inner thighs, and you moan, his name falling from your lips.
He pushes the fabric aside, and then his tongue is sliding along your folds, the flat of it pressing against your clit. You cry out, and he groans, the vibration sending sparks of pleasure through you. He licks at you, his tongue hot and slick, and the sounds are obscene, his mouth wet and messy.
"Taste so good," he rasps, and then his fingers are joining his mouth, spreading your folds. He flicks his tongue over your clit, the tip tracing the sensitive bud.
You cry out, your hips jerking, and he groans, his hand wrapping around your thigh and holding you in place.
"Needy little thing," he murmurs against you.
"Only for you," you whimper, and the truth of it hits you like a slap to the face. It's never been like this with anyone else, the need for release so intense, the urge to give yourself over to him so strong. You've never felt like this before, and the thought scares you as much as it excites you.
"That's right," he mutters, and then he's pressing his mouth to you again, his lips sealing around your clit.
The pleasure is white-hot, and you can't stop the string of curses that spill from your lips. He's relentless, his tongue working over your clit, his lips and teeth adding a delicious edge of pain to the pleasure. It isn't long before you're trembling, your orgasm coiling tight in your belly, and you gasp his name, the sound falling from your lips like a prayer.
"Close," you manage to say, your breath coming in ragged pants.
He pulls back, and his thumb replaces his tongue, his mouth moving to your inner thigh. You whimper at the loss, and he nips at the sensitive skin, the sting making you jump.
"Not yet," he murmurs. "I'm not done with you."
You groan, your hands tangling in his hair. You tug at the strands, trying to pull him back, but he's stronger than you, and he ignores your attempts to get him to move. He bites at your thigh, his teeth leaving more marks on your skin, and then he's pulling away, slipping two fingers inside of you.
You gasp at the sudden stretch, the feeling of being filled after so long without it making your toes curl. You're so wet that there's almost no resistance, and his fingers slip in easily, the glide smooth.
"So fucking tight," he rasps, and you groan as his thumb presses against your clit. "You're going to feel so good around my cock."
The thought is enough to make you moan, and your inner walls clench around his fingers, the muscles fluttering. He chuckles, the sound rough and low as his lips trail across your hip.
"You like that, jet'ika?"
"Yes," you hiss.
He adds another finger, and the stretch is almost too much. It's been so long since you've had anyone inside of you, and his fingers are thicker than yours, his hands larger. You clench around him, and he hisses, his forehead resting against your thigh.
"So good," he murmurs, and he starts to move, his fingers sliding in and out of you. "Look at you, taking my fingers like such a good girl."
You whimper, the praise going straight to your clit. You rock your hips, matching the rhythm of his fingers, and the sound of his palm slapping against your cunt is almost enough to make you come undone.
"Just like that," he whispers, and his mouth returns to your sex, his tongue pressing against your clit. He swirls the muscle around the swollen bud, the pressure just enough to make your head spin. You're so close, the heat in your abdomen threatening to explode, and he can tell.
"You're going to come," he mutters, and his fingers speed up, curling inside of you. The angle changes, and the tip of his finger presses against a spot that makes you cry out. "You're going to come on my fingers, and then I'm going to fuck you until you're screaming."
"Yes," you moan, your head falling back. "Yes, please, Wolffe. I'm so close."
"Then come," he growls. "Come for me, jet'ika."
And you do, his command sending you over the edge. Your climax crashes into you, the pleasure blinding, and your whole body trembles, your inner walls spasming around his fingers. You sob his name, and his mouth moves, sucking at your clit, his fingers milking your release.
The sensation is too much, and you try to twist away, but his free hand moves to your hip, holding you in place. He works you through your orgasm, his tongue and fingers drawing out your pleasure until you're trembling and oversensitive, the sensation almost painful.
"Stop, please," you beg, and he does, pulling back and sitting up.
"Okay, okay," he pants. "That's it. Good girl."
Your cunt clenches at his words, the muscles still twitching. You take a few deep breaths, trying to regain control of yourself, and Wolffe slips his fingers out of you, the movement slow and gentle.
"Good?" he asks, and you nod.
"Yeah," you sigh. "Yeah, I'm good."
He brings his fingers to his lips and sucks, the sight making your cheeks heat. He groans, his eyes closing, and he savors the taste of you, his tongue licking away every drop.
"So fucking good," he murmurs, and his hand cups the back of your head, pulling you into a bruising kiss. You can taste yourself on his lips, the flavor salty and sweet, and you moan, your fingers tangling in his hair.
The kiss is rough and hungry, the two of you clinging to each other, and the urgency returns, the need for more rising up inside of you.
"Please," you whisper against his lips. "I need you."
"Yeah," he rasps. "Yeah, I know."
You can't help the whine that slips out as he pulls away, his hands reaching for the waistband of his blacks, and he chuckles, the sound strained.
"Soon, cyar'ika. I'm right here."
The promise makes something inside of you clench, and you can't tear your eyes away as he pulls his briefs down, his erection springing free. He's thick and long, the head leaking pre-cum, and you swallow hard against the saliva pooling in your mouth. You want to taste him, to feel him stretching your throat, but that's not what either of you need right now. What you need is him buried deep inside you, fucking you until you can't remember your own name, until you canât remember the world outside the two of you.
He kicks off his clothes, and he kneels between your legs, his hands moving to your waist.
"Let's get you out of these," he says, his voice a low rumble.
His knuckles brush against your clit as he slips his fingers into your underwear, and you gasp, your hips arching up. You feel exposed and vulnerable as he peels the damp fabric away, leaving you bare and naked before him, but the look on his face is one of reverence.
"So fucking beautiful," he murmurs, and the raw emotion in his voice makes your heart clench.
You reach up and cup his cheek, the gesture tender, and his eyes fall closed, his breath hitching. He turns his face into your palm, his lips brushing against the skin.
"Wolffe," you whisper.
"Jet'ika," he murmurs against you.
"I'm ready."
He opens his eyes, the gold of his iris gleaming in the dim light. There's an intensity in his gaze, a fire that burns, and he wraps a hand around his cock, stroking himself. You watch, transfixed, as he teases himself, the head turning purple and shiny with pre-cum.
He reaches out and presses his hand against your stomach, his palm flat and hot against your skin. He rubs it in circles, and the touch is soothing, the ache inside you easing. You take a deep breath, and his nostrils flare, the muscles in his neck tensing.
"Tell me if it's too much," Wolffe says, his eyes searching yours. "I won't hurt you."
"I know," you murmur. "I trust you."
He leans down and presses his mouth to yours, the kiss soft and tender. It's a stark contrast to the urgency from before, and the gentleness makes your throat tighten. He pulls back, his hand still pressed against your stomach, and he reaches down, lining himself up.
"Ready?" he asks, and you nod.
"Yes."
He slides in slowly, the stretch almost too much. You let out a shuddering breath, trying to relax, and he kisses your temple, his other hand rubbing soothing circles on your thigh.
"Easy," he whispers.
It takes a moment, but you adjust to his size, the pressure lessening as your body accommodates him. He's hot and heavy inside you, his length reaching deeper than anyone ever has, and the fullness is delicious, the pleasure-pain making your eyes water.
"Good girl," he rasps, his hand moving up your stomach, his thumb brushing against the underside of your breast. You whine, and he hushes you, his hand continuing its path up to your hair, his fingers tangling in the strands.
"Kriff," he groans, and the sound is pained. His eyes flutter shut, and his head drops down, his forehead pressed against yours. "You feel so good. Like you were made for me."
"Wolffe," you breathe, and he kisses you again, the contact searing.
He pulls out and then pushes back in, his movements slow and controlled. He's trembling, the tendons in his neck standing out, and you can see the effort it's taking him to hold back.
"Faster," you beg, and his hand tightens in your hair, the bite of pain making you moan.
"I don't want to hurt you," he grits out, his hips stuttering.
"You won't," you assure him, and the lie sits bitterly on your tongue.
Because it's not true, and you both know it. No matter how gentle he is, how careful he is, the fact remains that this is temporary, that the two of you can never be anything more than a stolen moment. You're going to hurt, and he's going to hurt, and the truth of it is enough to make you want to cry.
But Wolffe doesn't point it out, and neither do you. He does as you ask, his thrusts speeding up, the slap of skin on skin echoing in the small space. You wrap your arms around him, pulling him closer, and his lips find yours, his tongue tracing the seam. You part for him, allowing him entrance, and his kiss is desperate and hungry, his fingers digging into your skin.
He fucks you with abandon, the two of you lost in a haze of pleasure and lust, the years of pent-up desire finally coming to the surface. He's everywhere, surrounding you, his scent and his taste and the weight of him pinning you to the mattress. You feel claimed, possessed, and the thought should scare you, but instead, it makes you feel safe.
His pace is punishing, the force of his thrusts rocking the bed, and you cling to him, your nails raking across his back. You can feel the sweat beading on his skin, the slick slide of him against you, and the pleasure is building, the heat in your belly threatening to consume you.
"Fuck," he growls, and his hand moves to the side of your face, cupping your cheek. "Look at me. I wanna see you when you come."
Your eyes flutter open, and his face is inches from yours, his eyes locked onto yours. There's an intensity in his gaze, a raw emotion that threatens to undo you.
"Wolffe," you whimper.
"That's it, cyar'ika," he says. "Let go."
And you do, the orgasm hitting you like a shockwave. It crashes over you, the pleasure white-hot, and your inner walls clench around him, the feeling of his cock rubbing against your sensitive spots enough to make your vision blur. You cry out, and his name is a chant on your lips, the syllables falling from your mouth over and over. The bliss so intense that it's almost painful, and you're lost in the feeling of him, the pleasure consuming you.
"So good," he mutters. "You're so good for me."
He fucks you through your release, his fingers gripping your hips hard enough to bruise, and his thrusts become frantic, his rhythm stuttering. You can tell he's close, and you tighten your grip on him, urging him on.
"Come on," you plead. "Come for me, Wolffe. Make me yours."
He groans at the desperation in your voice, and his hips snap forward, the force of his thrust pushing you up the mattress. You whine, and he grunts, his grip tightening.
"Say it again," he demands, his eyes burning.
"I'm yours," you repeat. "Yours, Wolffe. Always."
The sound that leaves him is a broken thing, the anguish in it clear. He buries his face in the crook of your neck, his breath hot against your skin, and then he thrusts himself to the hilt. He groans, the sound muffled, and you feel his cock pulse, his release spilling inside you. The sensation is unlike anything you've ever felt, and you feel yourself coming undone again, a smaller, softer orgasm washing over you that makes your vision blur and your toes curl.
You cling to him, the two of you gasping and trembling, and the aftershocks roll over you, the pleasure making you shudder. You can't stop the tears that leak from the corners of your eyes, the realization that this is it, this is all you'll have of him, is too much to bear.
You feel him tense above you, his body rigid, and his hand comes up to cradle the back of your head as he presses his mouth to your temple.
"Wolffe," you whimper, and he murmurs something against your hair, something soft and sweet.
You don't hear him, but you can feel the shape of the words, and it makes the knot in your chest tighten, the pain threatening to consume you.
The two of you lie there, wrapped in each other's arms, and the minutes tick by, the only sound the rain pounding against the roof and your breathing. Your heart is breaking, the grief and sadness threatening to overwhelm you, and you close your eyes, the tears falling freely now.
Wolffe brushes them away, his touch gentle, and he pulls out, the loss of him almost unbearable. You whimper, the sound soft, and he kisses you again, his lips brushing against your forehead.
"Don't move," he murmurs.
You watch as he gets to his feet, his movements slow and stiff. A few minutes later, he returns with a wet cloth, and he wipes the evidence of your coupling from your skin. He's careful, the strokes gentle, and the act is so intimate that it makes the knot in your chest grow. He tosses the cloth to the floor, and then he's pulling you into his arms, his hands smoothing down your back.
You let out a sigh, your head resting on his chest. "Wolffe, Iâ"
"Don't."
You look up at him, and his expression is grim.
"Don't say anything."
"Wolffeâ"
"This was a mistake," he says, his voice strained. "We shouldn't have done this."
You bite your lip, fighting the urge to argue. "It's too late now," you murmur.
"No, it's not. We can still pretend it didn't happen. Just..." He sighs, rubbing a hand over his face. "Just don't make it harder than it has to be."
The pain in his voice makes your heart ache, and you bury your face in his chest, unable to hold back the tears. He holds you tight, his arms wrapping around your shoulders, and the tenderness, the protectiveness, only makes you cry harder.
"Jet'ika," Wolffe says, his voice soft, "please. Please don't cry."
"I'm sorry," you choke out, "I just..."
"It's alright," he replies, and he cups your face, tilting your head back. His eyes search yours, and you can see the sorrow and regret in them, the pain he's trying to hide. "It's alright."
"I'm sorry," you say, wiping at the tears that are rolling down your cheeks. "I'm sorry, Wolffe. I can't... I can't do this. I can't pretend like this never happened. I can't keep pretending like I don't care about you."
He lets out a ragged sigh, and his thumb traces the line of your jaw.
"I know," he murmurs.
"I love you," you whisper, the words slipping out before you can stop them. "I've always loved you."
His eyes widen, and the two of you sit in silence for a long moment, the confession hanging between you. You feel exposed, vulnerable, and you wait for him to react, to say something.
"You don't mean that," he says at last, his voice hoarse.
"I do."
He swallows hard, and you can see the conflict on his face, the war between what he wants and what he thinks is right. He closes his eyes, his fingers trailing down the curve of your neck.
"Fuck," he whispers.
"Wolffe," you say, and his eyes open, the gold of his iris burning.
"This is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever done," he mutters.
"What?"
"This," he says, and his hand comes up, gripping the back of your neck. "This is the dumbest thing I've ever done, and it's probably the worst decision I'll ever make."
You're frozen, his words hanging between the two of you. The room feels as though it's been turned upside down, and you're spinning, the world around you tilting.
"What are you saying?"
"I'm saying..." He hesitates, and then his expression hardens. "Fuck it."
And then he's kissing you, his lips hard against yours. The kiss is bruising, his teeth catching on your lower lip, and the sting is enough to make you gasp. His tongue sweeps into your mouth, and his fingers tangle in your hair, his grip tight. When you part, both of you are panting, and his gaze burns into yours.
"Wolffe," you breathe, "whatâ"
"I'm saying I love you too," he says, the words spilling out in a rush. "And I'm done pretending like I don't. I'm done lying to myself, to you. I'm done."
The words send a shock through you, and you stare at him, speechless. You open and close your mouth, and he gives you a rueful smile, his hand coming up to cup your cheek.
"You love me," you say, and the words are thick in your throat.
"Yes," he murmurs.
"Even though..."
"Yeah," he replies, his voice low. "Even though."
"What do we do now?"
Wolffe sighs, and his fingers trail down your jaw, the touch gentle.
"We make the most of whatever time we have," he says. "And we don't look back."
"It's going to hurt," you whisper.
"I know."
"Can you live with that?"
"For you?" He looks at you, and the tenderness in his eyes makes your heart skip a beat. "Yes. I can."
You lean forward, pressing your forehead against his. The two of you sit there, your breaths mingling, and you take comfort in the warmth of his skin, the weight of his hand against the nape of your neck.
"Okay," you murmur. "Okay."
He presses a kiss to your forehead, and you let out a shaky breath.
"Go to sleep, jet'ika," he says, his voice soft. "It's been a long day."
"Stay with me," you plead.
"I'm not going anywhere," he promises.
He pulls the blankets up over the two of you, and you close your eyes, letting the exhaustion take over. His warmth is comforting, the sound of his heartbeat a steady rhythm in your ear.
The rain continues to fall, and the room is filled with the sound of you breathing together. Itâs peaceful, and for a brief moment, the two of you allow yourselves to believe that everything is going to be alright. That the universe isn't falling apart around you. That maybe, just maybe, the two of you can have this.
The truth, however, is a far more complicated one. And come morning, when the sun rises, you'll have to face it.
But as you drift off to sleep, held tight in his arms, you can't help but hope that maybe, just maybe, things will work out.
After all, there has to be some kind of a happy ending.
Even in a galaxy as cruel as this one.

"Seonghwa?" Your cousin, Soyeon, calls for him on the other line. Soyeon rarely ever calls Seonghwa, but when she does, it's usually for good reason.
"Soyeon, what's up?" Seonghwa says, hand on his hip as he tries to regulate his breathing after a late night boxing session with Wooyoung and Hongjoong.
"Y/N said she would be home earlier, but she hasn't been. Yaya's worried, I'm worried. It's pouring outside." She says frantically. He sighs, stomach slightly dropping at the statement.
"Okay, where did she go last? I haven't heard from her since earlier this morning." Soyeon lets out a hefty sigh.
"Of course she wouldn't tell you. She was with Mingi." She says sarcastically, knowing Seonghwa would be upset with you for giving in, yet once again. Seonghwa had no issues giving you the 'I told you so' every single time you've been with your shitty ex-boyfriend. He always makes you cry, and it never fails. He doesn't understand why the fuck you keep running back to him. So to Seonghwa, it's not surprising that you kept this from him. Doesn't stop him from pinching the bridge of his nose before nodding, though.
"Alright, I'll find her. Don't worry."
"Thank you. Seriously. When you see her, you better tell her to stop seeing that fucking asshole. All he does is treat her like shit."
"Yeah, I know. Are you and Junseo home now?"
"Yeah, we are. We were gonna go to Yaya's but she told me to call you first before anything."
"Good, stay put. I'll take care of it and text you. She won't be far."
"God, such a headache. Thank you, Seonghwa."
"Course." He sighs as he ends the call, tossing his phone onto his duffle bag before un-doing the wrap around his hands.Â
"Done already?" Wooyoung asks, making Hongjoong shift his attention to the platinum blonde while they stand near the bag.
"I gotta go find Y/N."
"What? What happened?"
"Who knows, she was with Mingi."
"Dude is always bad news." Hongjoong chimes in, watching as Seonghwa throws his hoodie on and slings the duffle bag strap over his shoulder.
"Tell me about it." Seonghwa rolls his eyes and shakes his head. "I'll see you guys tomorrow."
"Text us when you're all good. Hope she's okay."
"She's fine. Just needa get her out of this rain." He says, giving them one last wave as he walks out of the studio and down the steps. Soyeon is right; the rain has picked up over the last few hours, creating huge puddles near the sidewalks and curbs due to the intensity. The stream of water makes a loud noise as it falls into the drain nearby, the loud pour of the rainfall echoing throughout the empty street. Seonghwa drags the hood over his head, doing a slight jog to his parked car on the side of the studio. Luckily for him, he knows where Song Mingi lives. Luckily for him, this town isn't that big and you couldn't have gotten far.
Luckily for him, he's right.
He finds you walking about two blocks away from Mingi's place, just getting ready to turn the corner to lord knows where. He slowly drives alongside of you, rolling down his passenger window to peak over at you. He's glad he found you when he did because you have a flimsy hoodie and leggings on, the hood completely drenched and barely doing anything to protect you from this rain.
"What are you doing, Seonghwa?" You ask, eyes glued forward as you continue to walk.
"What does it look like? Get in, you're gonna get sick." You squint your eyes at him as you continue to walk. "Y/N."
"How did you even know where to find me?"
"It's not hard to figure out when you're with Mingi." He quickly glances at the street ahead, making sure there are no oncoming cars or passengers in the way. "Plus, Soyeon called. Her and Yaya are worried because you told them you'd be home earlier."
"Of course." You mumble.
"Y/N, get inside and stop being stubborn."
"Seonghwaâ" He starts to obnoxiously honk his horn on the quiet street, making your eyes widen at him. You continuously tell him to stop and to quit being so loud, however, his efforts don't stop. "Park Seonghwa, what the fuck! Fine!" You groan loudly, quickly opening the door when he stops the car. You plop yourself onto the seat, glaring at him. "Happy?!"
"Not really, but at least you're in the car." He locks the doors and turns up the heat, driving off to his 1 bedroom apartment. "You can stay at mine for tonight so you don't stress out Yaya." He keeps his eyes on the road, thoughts shifting to your grandma and how worried she might be right now.
"She won't even be thatâ"
"She sure as hell will, Y/N. Besides, who the hell wants to argue with you this late at night? It's almost 1am. Knowing your ass and how you never listen, even though you should." He sighs. "I'll take you home tomorrow morning before I head to work."
"Whatever." You cross your arms, still feeling cold and uncomfortable after being in the rain.
"Why were you walking in the rain?" He asks, most definitely knowing the answer already. Your nights with Mingi always end on some toxic shit, all this yelling and back and forthâ arguing over empty promises and issues from the past.
And for what? The dude is never gonna change. Seonghwa isn't sure what the hell you're holding out hope for.Â
"I'll tell you if you spare me the 'I told you so.'" He shakes his head.
"Can't promise."
"Then you don't get shit from me."Â
"Why do you let him do this to you?"
"Wow, that's actually worse than an 'I told you so.'"
"I'm being serious." He glances at you with a very mixed expression, mainly serious and worrisome tones.
"I don't know, okay. I wish I could tell you." It's silent for a minute, the only sounds filling the car are the rain pounding against the windshield and the heat on high.Â
The thing about Seonghwa being your bestfriend of 16 years is the fact that you can always rely on him to be there no matter what. He's always so, so good to you; always so caring, so supportive and so protective. You've never had to ask Seonghwa for anything because he always gives, and is always ready to give. Just like tonight, when he shouldn't be here but he is.Â
He had been yours, just as you had been his since the beginning.
Sometimes, it's easy to believe you don't deserve someone like Seonghwa by your side.
You met this adorably shy, sweet kid when he was introduced to your class as a new transfer in the 3rd grade, most kids in your class politely saying hello but going about their own business afterwards. You, though, had stuck around to show Seonghwa his new school and to eat with him. Since then, your relationship had flourished. His dad had become bestfriends with your own dad, the two of you always going on family trips together, hanging out at each other's homes, going to the same schools onwardâ Seonghwa was always there, you were always there. He had seen you through your very best, seen you through your very worst. Was there during your highs, was there during your lows. Knows exactly how to push you right to the very edge, but also knows how to make up for his dumb mistakes. Knows exactly how to handle you, attitude, temper and all, knows exactly what makes you happy, what makes you sad.
He knows you like the back of his hand.
Probably better than you know yourself.
Seonghwa became the golden child though, you know? He had loving parents who supported him through everything. He was a superb student [a teacher's pet, if you may], an athlete, a prodigy; always winning numerous awards and medals throughout his academic and athletic career. He had countless talents and a positive energy that people admired him for, though shy and timid in the beginning. He got along well with people and was the ultimate charmer. Attractive, had his way with the ladiesâ albeit, he can be an idiot when he thinks with his dick from time to time and not his brain. But nonetheless, Seonghwa is Seonghwa. He would never intentionally hurt a soul, would never intentionally give people what they didn't deserve. To be clear though, Seonghwa has his fair share of mistakes and fuck-ups, but in the end, he would always apologize when in the wrong and make up for his actions. While you, on the other hand, were his polar opposite and struggled to find your place in this crazy, crazy world.
You had never met your biological mother, and your dad had spent majority of your earlier years working graveyard to keep food on the table, to keep sending you to a good school. You spent most of your childhood growing up at Yaya's house, where your dad's sister and her family lived for awhile. That's how your older cousin Soyeon became the sister you've never had, somebody else you could rely on, fight with and experience the ups and downs with. Things were good, and they were good for awhile until you lost your dad to a rare and sudden illness.
Then, things went downhill for you.
You continued to stay at Yaya's, only having her, Soyeon and her family, Seonghwa and his family by your side. You began to push people away, you got into trouble and made dumb mistakes that hurt your loved ones more times than you'd like to admit. You had your moments where you acted solely on feelings instead of being rational. You had no filter, not being afraid of telling people if they were wrong even if it meant hurting their feelings to no end. You no longer got along well with most people, finding it hard to vibe well with majority of the crowd. No longer caring about what was in the know, what was trending; was incredibly selective about who you gave your time and effort to in fear of losing more loved ones dear to your heart.
Without Seonghwa at your side, you're not sure where you'd be. Because truly, if it wasn't for him, you don't think you would have continued to try. He was the only thing that remained constant in your life, one of the only people who continued to show you genuine care and love despite your flaws and all.
"Have you eaten?" He suddenly speaks and changes the topic, not wanting to upset you any more than you already are.
"I'm not hungry."
"You need to eat something." You don't respond. "Mom made some kimbap today, I can set some aside for you."
"Thanks." You say softly, watching as the car finally drives into the familiar apartment complex. Seonghwa turns the wheel with one hand, pulling into his assigned parking spot before shutting off the car. He lets out a sigh before looking over at you, noticing you're still in your sad, sulky position in the passenger seat.
"Ready? Or should we just sleep in here tonight?" You slowly turn and glare at him, mocking him before answering dramaticallyâ knowing it's the most childish thing you can do right now, especially after Seonghwa took the time to find you and pick you up in this rain.
"Why don't you just leave me here?"
"Good with me. At least I don't have to lend you any more of my clothes and have you sleeping on my couch. Matter of fact, more kimbap for me." He says, stepping out of the car, keys rattling in his pocket as he turns to shut his car door. He continues to walk without worry because he knows the shit you pull.
You'll end up following him.
He doesn't even have to turn over his shoulder to make sure you do. He hears the car door slam after a few minutes, and he smirks a bit to himself before locking the car using the key fob in his pocket.
"You really have to slam my car door like that?" He asks, slightly looking over his shoulder before climbing up the steps.
"Sorry." You mumble, pathetically following your bestfriend with your arms crossed tightly against your chest. He unlocks his door and waits for you to make it up the steps, letting you step in and out of your shoes first before following you inside. He tosses his keys onto the entryway table before walking into the kitchen and pulling out his phone to text Soyeon that you were safe with him for the night.
"You can go shower first. Just take whatever you want from my closet." He says, eyes focused on the bag of kimbap his mom had dropped off earlier in the day. You simply nod and head straight to his closet, grabbing some pajama pants and a longsleeve. You toss your clothes into the bathroom sink, mentally making a note to ask Seonghwa if you can throw in a load of his laundry with your clothes. The last thing you wanna do is make a mess in Seonghwa's super clean apartment, let alone drag home some wet clothes from the night prior.
The shower you take is short, but relaxing. You let the hot water beat down on you, thoroughly scrubbing and scratching every inch of your body, your scalp. When you finish, you lather some lotion and pad back out to his living room. Seonghwa glances up, watching as you come towards him with his long pajama pants and a long sleeve with sleeves that falls past your hands. He thinks you're the cutest thing he has ever seen [especially in his clothes], but he subtly bites onto his bottom lip to suppress the smile forming at his lips.
"Can I do some of your laundry so I can wash my clothes? They're just sitting in your bathroom sink." He shrugs.
"Don't worry about it, I'll toss it in there before I hop into the shower." He slides a small plate on the counter of his kitchen island bar area, before handing you a hot cup of green tea. "Eat at least one." You nod, watching as he washes his hands and begins to make his way to the bathroom. You're hungrier than you thought, popping in all the pieces of kimbap Seonghwa prepared for you before downing the green tea. In the end, you feel full, satisfied.
Content.
Warm.
After a good thirty minutes, Seonghwa is out of the shower and tossing the load into the dryer. He's ruffling his semi-dry hair as he brings out a thick blanket for you, glancing at the random Cars movie playing on the tv.
"Here." He says. "You finished eating?"
"Mhm."
"Okay. I'm gonna go to bed then." He turns to head into his room.
"Hwa, can't you just sleep out here with me?" You point at the free part of his L-shaped sectional couch.
"Why, when I have a perfectly comfortable bed to sleep on in here?" He points to his room, but you pout.
"But, you also have an amazing couch that you can share with your bestfriend."
"You snore and you move around too much."
"I do not, and you'd be on that side of the couch anyway!" You furrow your brows. "You snore, too!"
"Not as loud as you, sounding like you belong in that Cars movie." He glances at the tv screen while making the dumb joke, and you groan.
"Okay, fine. Whatever." You succumb to defeat and wave the white flag. "I just don't necessarily wanna be alone."
"You're not, I'm right here."
"Pichu." Ah, there it is. That stupid nickname he's painfully grown to adore after you've told him time and time again that he looks just like the pokemon. He sighs, realizing you probably won't let this up. On top of that, he knows he can't say no to you regarding most things. So, he drags himself into his room and rips off his duvet comforter from the bed to bring with him into the living room. He sets himself up on one section of the couch, while you take up the otherâ heads meeting at the corner.
"The moment you rip out a big snore, I'm leaving you out here." He warns and you snort.
"You're a dick. I don't even snore like that."
"And how would you know, sleeping beauty?" He looks at you, heart content with the way you happily look at him from your side of the couch. You have no rebuttal though, so he shuts off the tv and rests his hand on the back of his head while closing his eyes. "Thought so. Get some sleep, it's getting late." He hears you rustling underneath your own blankets, head gently knocking onto the side of his that makes him suck his teeth. "Y/N." He groans with a whiney tone. "This is what I mean."
"Sorry, sorry." You pout, rubbing the side of his head. "I'm good now." You mumble underneath the blankets as you settle, satisfied with your warm and bundled position. You can hear Seonghwa's soft breathing behind you, signaling that he'll probably fall asleep soon [and quick, too]. "Hwa?" You softly call for him one last time.
"Hm?" He hums.
"Thank you." You pause. "For everything."
"You know I care about you more than anything, right?" He says, close to a whisper. "You deserve way better."
"Yeah." Is all you respond with before closing your eyes, hoping to finally be at peace for the remainder of the night. "Love you, pichu." You say sleepily.
"Love you, too." He feels the statement tug at his heart strings because Seonghwa does love you, he has loved you for years. Been in love with you for years. But you were always the most important, this dynamic and relationship was the most important, that he's learned to suppress and live with itâ even though at times, he feels like he gives it away pretty easily, or lets his emotions get to the best of him.Â
Everyone can tell.Â
Everyone knows.Â
Everyone but you.Â
Surprisingly, you do fall asleep before Seonghwa. He can't help but peek from his peripherals, noticing your steady breathing under the covers. Your head is barely poking out from the covers, making Seonghwa smile to himself. He settles a little closer to you, top of your head tucked near the crook of his neck as he slightly turns towards your side and finally shuts his eyes to get some sleep.
When you wake up the following morning, it's because Seonghwa's cussing to himself as he runs to grab his ringing phone on the island counter. His eyes quickly dart to you as he snatches the phone and answers the call, noticing you're starting to wake up.
"Sorry, Y/N." He apologizes and you let out a small squeak as you stretch and shake your head.
"It's okay, Hwa. Should probably get up anyway." You rub at your eyes, watching as he paces back into his room to finish getting ready for work. He's apparently talking to Wooyoung, agreeing to pick the guy up after bringing you home since they work at the same placeâ two athletic trainers for the men's sports teams at one of the universities in town, Wooyoung and Seonghwa mainly taking care of the football and basketball teams, popping into other sports if the help is urgently needed. They've both worked really hard to earn their current positions, being two of the leads who focus on training, treatment and rehabilitating their athletes at homebase, and only participating in a few quick trips for away games if asked.
As you stand and start to fold the blanket, you catch sight of how tired Seonghwa looks and you feel terrible. You know Seonghwa loves to test his limits, working out late after his shifts and barely getting 8 hours of sleep right before a busy day of tending to athletes. Despite your nagging and lecturing him on getting more rest, Hwa has gotten used to doing things this way.
However, part of you still feels guilty that he doesn't look as bright and alert this morning because of you. Because you needed more saving, because you chose to be stubborn and listen to Mingi even though he hasn't given you a reason to trust him since you've broken up.
"I didn't mean to wake you so early."
"I mean, you do have to leave soon, don't you?" You check the clock, peeping the current time as 8:27am. "Isn't this really late for you, actually?" Especially during the season, Seonghwa is always at work by 6AM, leaving super late in the afternoon. Off-season is a little easier for him, being that practice schedules are spread out due to sharing space with other sports/teams.
"Not for today. The team is lifting right now, I need to work on some rehab reports first before training and practice later today." You nod. "Are you good to leave soon then?"
"Of course."
"Okay, let me just grab a few things so we can head out. I need to pick up Wooyoung's lazy ass."
"He's not in to help with lifting?"
"Not anymore. Dude overslept." You snort.
"Why am I not surprised?"
"Director Shin loves him. She would never get him in trouble or scold him."
"She loves you, too." You say.
"Not as much as Wooyoung. She'll bite my head off first before she ever thinks about coming for him." He throws in some food into his duffle bag solely for work. The duffle bag is huge, having the university's name plastered on the side in big, bold lettersâ followed by his name etched onto the corner with his athletic training certification. "By the way." He points at your neatly folded, washed clothes on the coffee table. "Don't forget your clothes."
"Thanks."
"Are you just gonna go home like that?" He eyes his clothes on your figure.
"Yeah, why not?" He shrugs.
"Alright then. Let's go." He pats himself down to double check that he has everything on him before heading out of the door. You lazily follow behind after slipping into your sneakers, having to roll up Seonghwa's pajama pants so that they don't reach the floor and get dirty. You plop into the passenger's seat with your clothes on your lap, rubbing at your eyes once situated. "You didn't have to get up so early. I technically don't need to be there until 10."
"It's fine, Hwa."
"Did you tell Yaya we were on the way?"
"No, I'll just surprise her when I get there." You smile and he shakes his head.
"You need to stop worrying your grandma and your cousin."
"I'm not even doing anything!"
"You're not? Then, what was last night?" He glances at you then lets out a small scoff. "Exactly. And please stop running back to Mingi. That dude isn't gonna change, and you know that. All he does is make you upset and I can't stand it. You two aren't good for each other."
"I hear you." You say lowly, head leaning against the passenger window.
"I'm sorry." He lets out a breath, genuinely just worried about you and your wellbeing. "I don't mean to do this so early, but I just get worried about you." He ruffles your hair a bit, causing a small smile to creep up on the corners of your lips.
"It's okay. I need to hear it." He chuckles.
"Yeah, you do. You're such a fucking headache." He jokes. "But you're important to me, and all I want is for you to be happy." He pinches your cheeks, making you scrunch your nose.
"Thanks Hwa." He looks at you while posted at a stop light, admiring the way you scrunch your nose and let out a little giggle. That's how he likes to see you. Not upset, sad, or crying. Especially over Song Mingi.
The drive to your house isn't too far, or at least, it never feels too far since you and Seonghwa always engage in conversations about various things while in the car. He pulls into Yaya's driveway, parking right next to Soyeon's car. You occupy the tiny detached in-law suite in the corner of the backyard, so Seonghwa isn't surprised when you try to scurry to the backyard to avoid Yaya and Soyeon.
"She's here!" He yells and points at you.
"You're a pain in the fucking ass, Park." You glare at him while you simultaneously hear Yaya telling you to come into the house and to not even think about running into the backyard.
"Oh, Yaya! Miss damsel in distress just walked in."
"Y/N. You should've called or texted. We were worried when we didn't hear from you." Yaya looks at you disappointingly while whipping up some breakfast.
"Sorry." You mumble as Seonghwa brushes past you to kiss ass to Yaya.
"Always needing her bestfriend to come and save the day." Soyeon says sarcastically before crossing his arms. "Seriously, what the hell would you do without Hwa? And why the hell didn't you make it home in time or text to let us know you'd be late?"
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Hi to you too." You squint at her. "He was supposed to bring me home but we got into another stupid fight, that's all." You roll your eyes before glancing at the empty luggages she has next to her.
"So, he just let you walk in the rain? What a fucking dick."
"Language." Yaya warns, glaring at the two of you from the kitchen next to Seonghwa, who is quickly peeling a banana he took from the fruit basket.
"Where are you going?" You nod at the luggages.
"Me and Junseo are heading to Japan in a few days." She smiles. "We're way overdue for our anniversary vacation. Meaning, you're gonna have to man the restaurant." You groan. "And watch Charli? Pretty please." She pleads in a sweet tone, knowing you'll always do anything for their 3 year old daughter.
"Seriously?!"
"Charli loves staying with you and Yaya! And all you have to do for the restaurant is make sure everything runs smoothly and be the cute waitress that you already are! It's nothing you haven't done! Plus, Yoongi and Jini will be there, and Charli will be in preschool for the most part." At this point, you whine [moreso about maintaining the restaurant] while Soyeon continues to check the list on her phone.
"Speaking of the restaurant, are you free tonight?" Seonghwa chimes in, looking at his phone.
"I don't know, depends on my boss here." You glare at Soyeon before looking back at Seonghwa. "Why?"
"San is back home so we're going out to the bar."
"Excuse me?!" You yell. "What the fuck!"
"Hey!" Yaya glares at you again. "Say that word one more time in my house."
"Okay, I'm sorry!" You point at Seonghwa. "But, you! Why didn't you tell me about Sannie coming back?!"
"How could I? You were too busy sulking over Mingi." He says, furrowing his brows with a cheek full of banana. Soyeon snorts and shakes her head, making you glare at the both of them.
"Ha-ha very funny. You didn't think you could tell me any other day?"
"Well, he wasn't even supposed to be coming back until next week. But he just texted us saying he decided to come back early and that he's already settled at the condo his uncle owns."
"Why aren't I getting these texts?" Seonghwa smirks and flicks your chin with his finger.
"Because boys need to talk about boy things."
"Oh whatever, it's not like any of you are getting anyâ"
"Seonghwa, please. Tell that girl to stop talking like that." Yaya pleads for him to tell you to keep it quiet. He chuckles a bit before looking at you pointedly, tapping the tip of your nose.
"Stop that." He smiles down at you. "And who said we weren't?"
"Please, all you guys do is yell while playing FIFA and Mario Party." You sigh. "Anyway, I'm going back to sleep for a bit. I'll come in for an earlier shift at the restaurant so that I can see Sannie." You direct the statement at Soyeon and all she does is nod.
"Pick you up afterwards then?"
"Ah, it's okay. Usual bar, right?" He nods. "I'll just bus over." You tap his chest. "Thanks pichu, see you later. Have fun at work!" At this point, Yaya is walking towards Soyeon and Seonghwa, hands placed on her hips as she observes you skipping to your in-law suite.
"Hwa." Yaya tugs on his arm before he can help Soyeon pack the large luggages in her trunk and head out to pick up Wooyoung.
"Hm?"
"It should just be you two." She pouts, making Seonghwa laugh. Time and time again, Yaya has always pushed the 'you and Seonghwa' agenda, stating that you two were meant to be together. And Seonghwa doesn't mind, he always laughs about it. He kinda likes that Yaya [everyone, really] thinks so, and if things were easy, he'd make it happen without question. But things aren'tâ because there's always that voice in the back of his head that tells him he needs to leave things as they are or else everything will be ruined.
He doesn't want that.
He would rather bury his feelings than lose you.
There's no way you'd go that route with him. You've made it clear to everyone that Seonghwa was your bestfriend and your bestfriend only. That people need to quit shoving the idea down your throat because you could never; he'd be lying if he said it didn't hurt to hear it.
"Yaya, you already know the answer to that." He says anyway and she pouts even more, leaning her head against his firm bicep.
"But you're the only one who knows how to handle her. She's such a handful but you've always stayed by her side."
"Mm, I don't think I necessarily had a choice." Yaya chuckles and gently swats his arm playfully.
"You two should just kiss and get married."
"Kiss and get married? Wow. What a plan." Soyeon says sarcastically, making Seonghwa laugh.
"No can do with that one." He places a small kiss on the top of her head before helping Soyeon with the last large luggage. "I gotta pick up Wooyoung and head to work. Text or call me if you need me." Seonghwa says.
"Make sure my baby cousin doesn't do anything reckless tonight when she's out with you guys? Like, I don't know, run to Mingi while drunk?" Seonghwa shakes his head at Soyeon's response.
"Won't let her out of my sight." He waves one last goodbye before settling into his car and driving off.
It's 20 minutes to Wooyoung's apartment, and another 15 to the university from there. When he arrives, Wooyoung tosses his own duffle bag in the back and plops into the passenger's seat before slouching into it.
"Did you find babygirl?" Wooyoung asks, making Seonghwa furrow his brows at him.
"Yes I did, and stop calling her that."
"Why, are you jealous? You can't gatekeep Y/N to yourself. I'm close to her, too." Wooyoung smirks.
"Shut up before I make you walk to work." Seonghwa glares at him. "It's not even that, it's just weird."
"Why is it weird?"
"Because it is."
"Because you love her?"
"Get the hell outâ"
"I'm sorry! I'm kidding!" Wooyoung says in a high-pitched tone before laughing. "But, really, it's not weird."
"Yes, it is."
"She loves it and she's used to it. Therefore, I'll keep using it. Resting my case, your honor." Wooyoung snorts. "What happened last night anyway?"
"I don't know, she got into a fight with Mingi and walked out."
"He didn't come after her? It was pouring."
"Nope. She was gonna walk to.. I don't know, actually. She was just walking in the rain."
"That's not okay." Wooyoung sucks his teeth and does a slight head tilt. "They're toxic as hell to each other." Seonghwa shrugs.
"I know. I tried to tell her but at a certain point, that's all I can do. It gets really hard to control someone's behavior and police their actions."
"Can I ask you something?" Wooyoung looks at him with a small smile. "I'm genuinely curious."
"What?"Â
"Why haven't you made your move on Y/N? Your feelings for her have always been obvious."
"Have they? Seems like she's the only one who hasn't seen it." Wooyoung shrugs.
"Yeah. I mean, you drop everythingâ and I mean everythingâ for her without question. And you get all affectionate with her!" His tone raises a bit. "You hate initiating affection! If that ain't love.." Wooyoung tilts his head again and squints at Seonghwa.
"She's my bestfriend. All of that happens naturally."
"It's not just that, and you know it. I know people really do put their bestfriends on a pedestal, but you put babygirl before anyone and anything. Even yourself." Seonghwa slightly winces at the Wooyoung's nickname before shaking his head.
"Not true."
"Very true. Look, dude. It's not bad, but I do hope you leave some space for yourself. I know she would never intentionally hurt you, but it still doesn't eliminate the possibility of getting hurt at some point. I don't want that to happen, especially if you've poured everything in her over these years." Seonghwa lets out a breath and pauses for a moment because for once, Wooyoung makes sense. And he's right. He has poured everything in you, continues to pour everything in you very willinglyâ sometimes, he doesn't even realize he's doing it. Sometimes, he doesn't even realize he's putting you before everything, that he's dropping everything for you.
Hell, it's even to the point where he can't even date properly and sleeps around from time to time to let out steam. It's because he just feels this attachment to you; an attachment past being your bestfriendâ like some thread of hope he holds onto, thinking that some day, you'll see him in that light.
Someone who could genuinely, deeply and strongly love you, care for you, support you, with no boundaries.
"I know."
"Why don't you just tell her? You know, be honest." Wooyoung shrugs.Â
"I don't wanna lose her, and I'm afraid I will if I do. I'm afraid I'll fuck everything up between us and change the dynamic just because I wanted to be selfish."
"I don't think you'd lose her. I'm sure she wouldn't let that change anything between the two of you, either. And why don't you think she'd go for it?"
"I just don't think she would."
"Maybe she's thinking the same way as you." Wooyoung sees the university in sight and starts to loosen himself up, getting ready to head out of the door as soon as Seonghwa pulls into a spot. "I think you should go for it, Hwa. You can't live like this forever. You love her, she should know. And if things don't work out, I doubt she'll let that change things between you two. You two understand each other well, and you both make sense together."
"Mm, yeah. Thanks." Seonghwa gives him a pursed smile before Wooyoung slips off his seatbelt and smiles.
"Guess that means I can tag along again tomorrow?" Seonghwa rolls his eyes and steps out of the car before slamming his door.
"I'll think about it, lazy ass."

that summer
draw me in your world, as you let yourself into mine let me be your safe haven, for I love when you shine
word count : 4.8k words
genre : fluff with a tinge of angst; your typical summer love story but haerin does not feel the same way you do for her?; runner! haerin x literature student! fem!reader; you are an overthinker and sometimes just wish you stop thinking
t/w : none :)
a/n : this is the longest i've ever written for a oneshot and honestly, i didn't want to split it up cause i wanted yall to feel the whole thing at one go. enjoy !
"haerin-ah, wait up!"
"you're just slow! we're gonna be late if we don't hurry!"
you swore you needed to wake up earlier to avoid having to rush to school, especially when haerin waits for you every day to walk together. at this point, the two of you had been running to class for three days in a row now, not walk. to your surprise, the girl has never complained or grumbled about how you would make her almost miss the bell. but then again, she's always been like that. haerin was never someone who wouid let out her anger on you or anyone in general. you've never seen her get angry, concluding that she just doesn't know how to.
the said girl turned her head around while not faltering in her rushed steps, making sure you're keeping up with her speed. but the thing is, she's the school's top runner and you barely pass your required tests for physical education. haerin knows, which was why she opted to drag you along by your hand. the sudden grab left you slightly taken aback. well, slight is an understatement, you were very taken aback. especially when you have the most obvious crush on her.
you've always had a crush on haerin ever since you were 12. it just happened so when she saved you from some bullies, aka silly boys, running away from them as you two rest at the neighbourhood playground after. she sat you on the swing while you cried in both fear and relief. but all the fear washed away when she flashed you a smile that you never forgot till this day. the way her eyes curved up and her snaggletooth showed with that big smile of hers, that's when you fell for her.
as you busied yourself in your own world, you once again arrived at the school gate right before they closed it off, with some students sighing at how they missed it by a split second behind it. a slow realization hit that you've ran to your limit, you tried taking deep breaths but it might have made it worse. sometimes you wished you were more athletic, for these kind of situations, and also to spend more time with haerin if you were in the track and field team.
"hey, try breathing with both your nose and mouth, it can help."
the girl in front of you looks unfazed, as if she just went for a relaxing morning jog. which isn't entirely wrong as you don't live too far from school. you stand up straight again, doing what she told you to. it actually did help but as she glanced at her watch, you understood what it meant.
"go on, don't be late for class because of me."
"it's fine, there's still some time. I'll go with you."
although you were very sure classes starts in 3 minutes, you didn't argue further as it just meant you get to spend more time although it's just minutes. when the two of you were put into different classes, the time spent together reduced drastically plus haerin's training after class on some days. it was just lunch and maybe weekends if she didn't have extra training. but you felt bad for wanting her to spend her only free day with you, so you try to refrain from jumping onto her bed during some weekends.
why is it so hard to just spend some time with her?
lunch came. and that meant you get to see haerin again after the last time before classes started. at this point, you were just too infatuated with her that you were experiencing some sort of separation anxiety that you can't seem to quite explain. there's nothing you can do about it, you were just that in love with her.
but you did not guess for her to walk along to the cafeteria with him. him who? him, woonhak, the heartthrob who happens to be almost as good as haerin in the track and field team. everyone who sees them walking down the corridor would literally stop to look at how good they look together. it's to the point that they gush over the possible relationship they should have.
you were one of the people who'd look too, but you were always left slightly upset and heartbroken whenever you heard such comments. for sure, woonhak didn't do anything other than walk with her because he likes to ask and learn from haerin when it comes to running. there was no one to blame for your feelings except yourself. and at times, you just wished you could just like someone else cause the pain gets unbearable.
"hey froggie! how was class?"
it might sound like you're being selfish, but you wished haerin only ever smiles at you like that. that smile, the very same one you fell for and also the one that makes your heart clench a little. not to mention the nickname, it makes you feel as if she sees you nothing more than just a friend.
"the same. mr park is giving out work, again. I'm not surprised anyways."
"how about you?"
you swore you saw how her eyes sparkled a little when she started telling you about hers. but you don't feel that much good inside after.
"oh! you know woonhak right? him and I got chosen to be interviewed for a promotional video for the school."
"oh, him..."
"sorry, did you say something?"
"ah, yeah I know him."
"yup him, we agreed to meet on sunday to prepare ahead of the interview. I'm sorry if you wanted to come over."
"no don't be, it's fine. I can just work on mr park's project on sunday."
"but still, it feels weird that I won't be around."
"oh come on, it's literally just a few hours! and before you know it, you'll be back and I can come over if you want."
"this is why you're my best friend, I can always count on you."
well, that hurt a lot. you didn't know if it was intentional or just coincidental as she manages to throw your urge to confess out of the window every time it surfaces. all you could hope was that she didn't take notice of your feelings, or else you swear you'd never be able to face her again. the very last thing you need is for this friendship with her to shatter to the ground like glass. but you knew, the moment you fell for her, you were already walking on thin ice.
"what do they have for lunch today?"
"kimchi fried rice, today has your favourite strawberry milk."
picking up yours, you shaked it to tempt her to quickly go get hers and come have her food with you. and so she did.
whenever it came to her favourite food, she always looks like a cute little kitten who's hungry all the time. and when she spots them, she'd rush to get it and sit with you with an adorable smile plastered on her face as she eats or drinks away. you wish you were able to be someone who makes her that happy too, but along with those thoughts were the heavy consequences of your confession.
whatever you two have built throughout these many years will just shatter like glass, into fragile pieces that will not be able to be pieced together again. even if it could be pieced together again, nothing can stay the same.
for now, you'll keep it to yourself. nothing has shifted between you and haerin, so you shouldn't too.
you have no idea what the hell you're doing right now. what kind of situation is this, you don't know.
"you told me we were gonna work on that project. as far as I know, this is not part of the project."
"I know, but just, we'll work on it after. for now, I just need you to accompany me."
"bro, this feels so illegal to be spying on someone."
"I'm just making sure that boy isn't doing anything to haerin."
"you know they're like the most shipped couple in school right? and woonhak's a really nice person."
"you never know."
all dani could do was roll her eyes at how dumb you look, she looks, with this so called disguise that barely covered their identity. she told you the shades were not it when it's practically indoors, and how it literally makes them stand out even more. at times like this, she questions herself why she's friends with you, and why she's willing to be in this with you. overall you were a great person, just not when you get too overprotective of the girl you love.
"if you're just gonna snoop around, you might as well just confess."
the moment you heard the word 'confess', the coffee you were drinking through your mouth came out through your nose. dani didn't know whether to laugh or help you wipe the table cause that was the reenactment of that 'the incredibles' meme of violet. maybe this was why she was friends with you.
"w-what do you mean?"
"you're too obvious to not notice each and every time you zoom out of class to have lunch with haerin. and zoom out again when the bell rings so you can head over to the gym hall to watch her practice."
"bro why didn't you tell me?!"
"tell you what? that you're like an idiot in love but the person you love doesn't seem to feel the same way?"
"I am not an idiot! but I definitely am in love..."
the mood suddenly shifted to somewhat gloomy as those words left your mouth. admitting that you had feelings for haerin to someone else for the first time didn't feel much extravagant than you thought. it wasn't that what you felt wasn't real or overwhelming, they very much were. but the thought of her not reciprocating them, broke you a little on the inside.
you've always imagined being by her side throughout university till the day you'd grow old and get a small house in the countryside. if it were the best friend context, things would have been fine. but you want to be there for her as someone she loves, too. as cheesy as it sounds, just the two of you against the world and no one can stop you.
reality begged to differ when you see how happy she is now as she picks up some clothes from the racks in a store. with woonhak smiling down at her. you couldn't deny that they look good together, way to good that it was believable if haerin told you they started dating after this date. the more you saw the two of them together, the more it was harder to imagine you being the one who would be making her happy.
although you've known her for so long, you weren't one to express your feelings through words. 'actions speak louder than words' was the motto you've lived with all this time. but this love thing takes more than that. being a literature student did not help with that vast range of vocabulary cause there was no point of preparing a confession. it has to come from the heart, and that's what makes it so hard.
"..."
"they left by the way."
your head whipped to the direction of the store they were in, and the last spot you saw them at was indeed empty.
"let's go then! you better saw where they are heading."
not even allowing dani to finish her chocolate drink, you dragged her along to chase after the two. they were definitely fast, very fitting to be in the track and field team. and dani did not sign up for this.
in the end, dani had to drag you out of that mall before you ended up actually stalking those two poor souls. you were definitely not pleased with that decision but you two had a project to attend to, so you placed whatever that's disturbing to the back of your head. although it was sort of futile.
"well, at least we got half of this done, sorta."
"we can meet again tomorrow after school to finish it up if you want."
the australian squinted her eyes at you, as if trying to question your intention. she had the right to after what you pulled off today.
"for real, this time. I kinda want to get this over with and watch haerin practice."
"you better keep your promise."
giving a salute, all dani could do was chuckle at your attempt to lighten the mood with your antics. how can she not love someone like you when all you do was make everyone around you smile?
"hey, do you think it's possible that haerin would have feelings for me? even the slightest bit?"
"I don't see why not. you're a nice kid."
"the definition of nice is different for everyone, and so it is for me."
the older took a seat next to you on the bed, putting down her books on your study desk. when the topic about your feelings for haerin surface each time, you can't help but let your real self seep out a little, the happy-go-lucky facade faltering.
"you know, you don't have to be nice to be liked by anyone."
"but that doesn't mean I can be bad either."
"you know I don't mean it that way. it's just that, whether the person is nice or not, if you like them, you just do."
"that's true..."
it was feeling a little weird to talk about this with someone, but you were glad that it was dani. she was like an older sister figure that you could rely on whenever you needed her.
"you love haerin. and do you love her because she's nice? or because it's her?"
as you registered her words in your brain, you couldn't help but feel hopeful all over again, even after seeing those two at the mall today. maybe, they really are just friends. maybe, haerin does like you a little. maybe, you should confess.
you were so lost in your own thoughts that you couldn't feel the presence next to you, slowly clasping your hands. dani looked at you really endearingly, as if you were the person she cherished the most in the world.
"whatever you do, I'd be here to support, okay?"
giving her a reassuring nod and grin, dani's heart swelled at how your mood was lifted again. all she wants to see was you smile, regardless of who's behind it.
"FROGGIE!"
the shout from across your bedroom door grabbed your attention as your eyes darted towards it. as it swung open, the very person you two were talking about barged through to throw you into a hug. along with dani cause haerin knows her too.
"unnie! what are you doing here? the project?"
"hmm, we were just tidying up cause it's getting late."
the older slipped out from the embrace to finish packing her stuff to leave those two to their own world. maybe one day, she'd be able to find someone she loves too.
"bye unnie!"
"dani, I'll let you know what time tomorrow."
"yup sure, just ping me when you're done."
as dani left when she saw your thumbs up, you're tackled into another hug. you were wondering why she was being extra clingy after that date with woonhak. did woonhak confess to her? was she being shy about it? is she gonna tell you something? you were overthinking a lot of things and it wasn't a good sign cause that just means you're going to start doubting every single action haerin takes.
"I missed you."
you wish you would just disintegrate into dust at this very moment. everything that has happened today had already put your brain and feelings into overdrive. and for her to say this, made your heart feel heavier than ever. you didn't know why, it just didn't feel all that good although you did miss her too. but the words just can't seem to fall from your lips.
all you could do was look away and nod. because if you were to look at her, you think you are going to cry and confuse her even further.
"I should go shower first, it's been a long day."
"then we can cuddle!"
haerin slipped away from the embrace into your bathroom. with her belongings scattered around your room, it makes you feel even dizzier from all these crashing feelings. it's as if you are itching to confess to her or else you'd combust for real. that was why you could only keep your mouth shut, or everything would be over.
for now again, you try your best to act normal in front of her. for your own sake, for her sake, and to keep this friendship the way it has been this whole time.
everything went on like normal. you and dani wrapped up that damn project mr park gave, having lunch with haerin every day, spending your time watching her practice, hanging out every weekend. but as haerin's competition was approaching, she spends more time at the gym hall, even during weekends at times. you can't blame her when she's the top in her team.
this competition was utmost important for her as many big companies scout at this particular one. meaning that if she does well, she may have a chance of signing with one. but that means that she would have to move to the city if that does happen.
you were afraid to lose her. sure, you two would still be friends even if she was miles away. so that's exactly what you're afraid of, staying friends. you knew you had no guts to confess to her anytime soon. if haerin leaves, you will still be here. you can't imagine how it will be without her, because you've spent your entire life with her by your side.
even today, you're in your room as haerin is training more as days are left till the competition. divided between confessing or not, you wrote down all the things you want to get for her on your laptop. the tomato frog that she loves so much, a printed sweater with a cat, a couple bracelet that she had her eye on last month. you remembered everything like you knew the back of your hand. it wasn't intentional, but you just did. not to mention that you had quite bad memory that you took a week to remember your seatmate's name.
you were going to do it. you were going to confess. it took you years to finally make that decision and you want it to be perfect. what did it mean by perfect, you don't know. it was your first time, but you just wanted it to be from the bottom of your heart. regardless of whether haerin would reciprocate the feelings, you came to an agreement with yourself that it was fine if she didn't. she was going to move away when she wins that competition so it would just mean that you two stay friends. friends who are apart from each other.
although it may take time to heal, it was going to be fine. not everything in life can go smoothly, and you were willing to take the risk. it was unfair for both you and her. you couldn't pretend any longer that you saw her as a friend, when the way you treat her is definitely more than one. and she deserves to know what you feel for her, with no secrets kept between the two of you.
D-10.
"WOONHAK! GOOD LUCK!"
"YOU'RE GONNA DO GREAT BRO!"
"HAERIN-AH! SLAY IT!"
"HWAITING!"
screams and shouts from both sides of your ears were definitely gonna leave them ringing for some time. of course you weren't going to miss haerin's big day. you were beyond proud that she made it to the finals after beating her opponents in the semifinals. quarters were a piece of cake since she was a whole second ahead of everyone.
it was no doubt when she held the fastest record for 100m among the schools here. the agents definitely had their eyes on her the entire time, it just depends on who she chooses.
you didn't really like going out for events like these but she was an exception. although you weren't screaming your lungs out for her, you caressed that ring on your finger very dearly. the ring haerin got you when you two got into the same high school, calling it "the lucky ring". whenever there were big happenings, you'd wear it, feeling that she was with you through them. this time, you wore it so she could feel that you were with her.
"ON YOUR MARK."
the determination on haerin's face didn't go unnoticed even if you were nowhere close to the tracks. and when she flashed that smile at you before the whistle went off, you cried softly into your hands.
you love her so much. so much that this was going to be the last time you two were going to be friends. friends who grew up together, playing with puddles at the playground. finding restaurants to visit together. laughing at stupid videos in bed. taking pictures and videos of each other when one is sleeping. all those days were going to be a memory. a sweet memory for you to look back at after this day.
reporters swarmed the winner of the competition, blocking the pathway for the others who could only sigh at their defeat. some were lucky with outstanding performance.
"could you tell us what's your future plans after this?"
"will you be signing with Krux? we saw their agent approach you personally."
"is it possible to know who kim woonhak is to you?"
"i'm sorry everyone but haerin will be heading off first, any questions will be answered by me."
the coach pushed haerin into the locker room before locking everyone outside with him. she let out the breath even she didn't know she was holding.
"so, who is kim woonhak to you?"
the noise was starting to die down outside as the reporters were led to a different room for interview. the silence was growing deafening as those words echoed across the empty room.
"you're my friend."
"damn, I really didn't have a chance, did I?"
"you know that very well. plus, there's a whole line waiting to date you so why waste your time on me?"
haerin couldn't bother, as she had something better to do and someone better to be with.
"sunbae, you do know I don't like you anymore right? not after you turned down my confession the other day."
"I was just making sure. I've seen too many of you playboys in action."
"oh come on, I'm not a playboy!"
woonhak was someone who was very responsive to teases, and haerin takes every chance she gets to tease the hell out of him. if anything, he was like a brother to her and she was like a sister to him. in fact, both of them decided to sign with the same company since they were offered. it was always good to have someone on your side in the sports world.
"I know, I was just messing with you. now get out, coach probably needs you."
"why me when the winner is right here chilling?"
"because you're gonna answer on my behalf."
the scene that was unfolding could easily be misunderstood if walked in at the wrong timing. and someone did just that. but what haerin didn't expect was that you walked in on them, seemingly laughing and smacking each other, like a couple. well, it did look like that to you at least.
you felt like you were interrupting something, so you dashed out of there as quick as you could. your eyes were stinging as the humid wind cut through your tears that were threatening to fall. although haerin was deemed the winner today, you were zooming past people faster than she could, as if in denial that you lost even before getting a chance to tell her.
it was getting more and more suffocating as the people around you were overwhelming. although you could breathe better when you reached the tracks, taking in the view of the vast field, it was too much that you had to hit your chest to let out some suppressed cries.
just as you felt slightly better, you felt a pair of arms swinging across your sides from behind, trapping you with them. you didn't even need to see who it is, as their scent invaded your senses, carrying familiarity with it.
"haerin-ah, congratulations! I'm so proud of you."
you turned around to bring her into a hug, but also hiding the fact you were crying because things were to change today.
"thank you, I wouldn't have done it without you."
"no, don't say that. you.. did it because you trained very hard for this. and you'll be achieving your dreams."
"you did do something for me, you were there for me. I saw you at the bleachers and that made me more determined to win."
"why are you crying, froggie? don't cry, we'll still see each other."
haerin cupped your face with her hands to wipe the tears off of your face. but that just hit the nail on the coffin, meaning that she would sign and leave for the city. which was now or never.
"haerin-ah."
"hmm?"
the endearing look in her face as she looks at you was more than enough to let you know she would be here for you no matter what. even as just a friend. although it was starting to rain, you knew you had to do it now. the words were getting stuck in your throat as it started to get dry. but, you were going to do it still.
"I love you."
"huh?"
the confusion on her face hurt you more than it should. you should know that she does not feel the same way you did for her. you should know that she was probably already dating woonhak after what you saw earlier. you should know-
"I love you too."
it was the first time you have ever seen that smile on her face. a grin so wide, it's like she's the happiest girl in the world. the most crescent eyes you've seen on her, as if she's staring at the girl she loves.
wait. she said she loves you too.
the sunshower was drenching the two of you but you couldn't give a damn about it. she said she loves you. she reciprocated your feelings. but you were having a very hard time trying to wrap your head around it.
"I love you too, you silly."
her laughter tickled your ears as you stood there frozen. your dumb reaction had her swaying you around with her in the rain as the sun was blinding through the droplets. just as she stopped to look at you again, you still had that bewildered face.
"I thought you were dating woonhak..."
"me? and that idiot? babe, you gotta be kidding me."
the sudden endearment had your cheeks flare up as you bury your head in her shoulder, in attempt to cover your face. but your ears were shooting bright red too, earning an earthy laughter from haerin, you could feel it through the embrace.
"so that means we're dating right?"
she looked at you with a shocked face before peppering kisses all over your cheeks.
"yes, of course froggie. unless you wanna get married."
the attempt at humor cracked both of you up, but you knew that was something you see happening in the future. but for now, everything was perfect. you were perfect, and haerin's urge to kiss you was too strong at that moment.
"can I kiss you?"
all you could do was nod and as her lips touched yours, that's when things were sinking in for you. your hands slowly draped over her neck as you pulled her closer to feel the longing for her warmth grow stronger. the sunshower painted over you and her, but you couldn't care less about what's around you when the most important person is in front of you. it was true that today was the last day you two were friends, but blossomed into a new beginning as each other's love.
as you pulled back to breathe, you two had your eyes closed, foreheads touching. although no words were exchanged, you knew, many more summers were to be spent with the love of your life.
it was the summer rain, the summer rain when haerin fell for you as you held her hand and ran in the rain back home.
that summer you fell for her too.

Speed Powers are Actually Horrifying
The thing about speed powers is that they both relate to time and temperature. You going through the air EXTREMELY fast would cause friction (air resistance is what causes rain & snow to not drop all at once) so you'd get VERY hot. Like, a path of fire in your wake, hot.
BUT! It also has to do with time since time is just a measurement of how fast things are happening and where you are on the timeline of today. Time on a clock and days on calendars is like a timeline marker. You are Here: Feb, 22nd at 2:43 PM.
This means that if you were to go REALLY fast, you'd experience time differently than everyone else. To you, you might be going on a light jog, but to people that see you, you could be a flash of light.
It reminds me of the Hate monologue from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. The AI (Named "AM") can sense every individual nanosecond. There are 1,000,000,000 nanoseconds in a single second. However, we must also consider time dilation. Time dilation (in simple terms) is when time goes MUCH faster or MUCH slower than is is actually going. Basically it's "time flies fast..." but ALL THE TIME.
So someone with speed powers would probably be VERY fast, to the point of leaving behind a trail of fire and would be extremely impatient. They would probably experience time differently which could lead to self soothing mannerisms such as fiddling with their hands, picking at their hair, running around rooms (parkour?), and bouncing their legs.
My point is:
Speed powers + ADHD symptoms = Horror Concept
This is easier to understand if you've read/watched/listened to I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, but I think the main difference between someone with speed powers and AM is that AM is a machine. AM is an AI. AM (as he says in his monologue), he has no hand to play the piano with, he has no muscles to ache while gardening, he has no body to hold someone with.
But because someone with speed powers DOES have a body, they would have to contend with the responsibility (ha ha reference) of being able to do pretty much anything. They could rob businesses and banks, they could get away with murder, they could start wars.
BUT! To distract themselves and to "pass the time" so to say, they'd probably take up A LOT of hobbies. But this would lead to imposter syndrome since they don't have the same kind of time regular people do. They could learn instruments, but they'd have to play tutorial videos at 3x speed. And what if sound isn't fast enough? Is the speed of sound too slow for someone equal to a god?
Again, you could learn every instrument, but what do you do then? Do you tell people? They either wouldn't believe you, think you can but you're not very good at them, or be insecure because they're the same age and can't even play ONE. Would you tell them that you have speed powers, so there's no reason to feel bad about yourself?
Or do you turn to self expression to satiate the urge to pass the time faster and to get out how you feel? How do you even express yourself when you have a completely different experience than everyone else?
Do you lean into the darkness of your situation and use bone flutes and war drums? Do you use instrument cases covered in human skin like suede? Don't worry, you got the human skin when you where younger, less aware of your responsibilities, not as mature. Your a different person now. A/N ::: So, I was trying to work something out about Kafka's ass and the sparse amount of hair on it that he's self-conscious about but holy god, I couldn't do it. I started like 4 different things, all of which were not even close to what I was going for. So, here we are. With another idea I had about Florist!Kafka. I had this idea yesterday, I think. Thank goodness I can check this off of my to-do list. There are too many now. It's getting bad, guys. My feelings for this man are becoming an issue lol. Anyway. I about vomited when I finished this because the ending could not have been more perfect (for me?). I love it. I hope you guys like it too!
C/W ::: None. Just more smooshy lovey shit. Sorry not sorry. Maybe I'll carry on with this after the fact. Idk. Let me know if I should whip something up for later? Like after the initial thingy happens?
WC ::: 621 ish
Florist!Kafka has seen you walk past his little pop-up shop every day for the last 2 weeks and he feels like if he doesn't get to talk to you, he'll burst. He does what he can to get your attention and he'll smile at you. You smile back, politely, sure. But that's becoming not enough. He wants to talk to you. With you.
Florist!Kafka has had enough when he sees you making a run for it from one side of the street to the other when it's raining and he's sitting comfortable and dry under the large umbrella that covers his portable cart. He calls out, jogging toward you with an extra umbrella he has.
Florist!Kafka who trips over his own feet and goes flying through the air, knocking you over, too. You're both laying in the biggest puddle you've ever had the displeasure of encountering. Not only that, but he's lying on top of you, face to face. You can feel his breath fanning across the bridge of your nose.
Florist!Kafka who jumps up faster than he ever has gets right to work on helping you, making sure you're ok and that you didn't hit your head or anything like that. He apologizes profusely, offering you to come sit down at his cart to rest for a moment - to collect yourself, were his exact words.
Florist!Kafka who wanted nothing more than for you to take him up on the offer so he could spend more time with you. More importantly, so he could ease his mind and actually see you get some rest. You're always rushing off to one place or another and he wants to see you just "BE".
Florist!Kafka who is delighted beyond words when you agree to go sit with him for a moment, "to collect yourself," as he put it. You thought it was sweet how he was fussing over you. He wouldn't take no for an answer when he offered you a bottle of water. So, you took it, graciously. Thanking him for his kindness but reiterating that he doesn't have to go through this much trouble for you.
Florist!Kafka who disappears around the other side of his mobile stand for a couple of minutes and comes back with a single yellow rose with a bunch of black tulle floofed up around the stem and an unnecessary apology for you. He blames his uncharacteristically clumsy nature on how pretty you are - this isn't the first time you've made him slip up.
Florist!Kafka who blushes when he sees how happy his observation (and the rose) made you. He wants to ask you out so badly but he's not feeling the bravest right now - despite his ability to fight actual monsters when he's really "working". Love is a beast he has not conquered yet. Though he's reveling in the strength you give him just from being there. He could kill a thousand kaiju after a single kiss from you.
Florist!Kafka who hopes you are ok when he lets you leave him to go off and take a second shot at your day. He watches you all the way until you turn the corner at the end of the block and disappear. He smiles for the next 15 minutes straight because he got to be with you for a short amount of time. But still, he had some lingering thoughts.
Florist!Kafka who worries you wonât find the little note he put in the tulle.Â
Florist!Kafka whose lingering thoughts were all shattered when his phone alerted him to a new notification; a text. From you! He opened his phone, scrolling right away to read the message ...
"Meet me where I fell for you. Come hungry. - Y/n"

for your one word prompts, trust? <3
it's been building for a little while now, the unease, the confusion, the hurt every time beatrice takes a call and walks out of the apartment or sends a coded message on the burner she hides in the salt tin on top of the fridge or sidesteps questions, and ava has been meaning to talk to her about it, sit them both down on the couch with a nice soothing cup of tea and the frankly painful and painstaking list she's written out of Things I've Noticed You Not Telling Me. she meant to, she really did. but today has just been. bad. from start to end.
//
beatrice wakes her before six with a nudge and they dress silently, slipping out into the grey morning and down to the lake to train. pretty soon, the clouds split and ava spends her morning mostly flat on her back. over and over and over and over and over again. beatrice is impassive and challenging in turns, a good teacher but cold, calm, and by the end of their sparring ava feels half-dead again.
the rain doesn't help. it's cold and slow, half-frozen to a sludge and it stings when it hits. drips off the end of her nose, her chin, the ends of her fingers when she stands in it, panting.
'h-how'd i do, coach?' ava jokes, teeth chattering. 'too impressive, right? gotta rein it in?'
beatrice smirks, just a little. she's always happier when she's been training and ava hasn't quite figured out whether it's because of the exercise or because she likes to win. 'you did well,' she says. ava starts to deflate, when she adds, 'it's important to train in all different...terrains.'
'ooh.' ava closes her eyes. savours it. 'that was so bad.'
she gets about half a second of beatrice laughing when there's a single buzz from the picnic table where they've stashed their things. a few long strides gets beatrice there in mere moments, before ava can even start to think to do the same, and then beatrice calls back to her,
'time to test your endurance, ava. we're jogging back to the apartment,'
and sets off without another word, slinging her waterproofed backpack over her shoulder.
the grey swallows her up. ava swallows down a mutinous thoughtâto stay, to ignore beatrice's instructionâand stumbles forward to her own pack, her jacket which has remained thankfully dry beneath the picnic table roof. her fingers catch, numb, on the zipper. the teeth tug closed, all the way up to her neck.
there's a good reason that beatrice isn't telling her about these messages, these secret phone calls. ava is pretty sure they're from camila, or mother superion, based on the timing and the secretive way beatrice sends messages back. there's a good reason, she just knows it.
//
by the time ava makes it to the apartment, beatrice has already showered and dressed. heat billows out from their tiny bathroom in a white cloud; the steam stings her frozen nose a little, smells hot and a little like the shampoo they both use, something flowery. ava's never bothered to check what it was, just enjoys pouring it into her hands - it comes out of the bottle pink, which always makes her smile - and sudsing it up, the scent slightly chemical and overpowering but it lasts the whole day. ava knows because she can always tell when beatrice has just left a room at work, the smell lingering, and it clings to their pillows too, much gentler by the time they get to bed but still there.
'i have work today,' beatrice says, tugging on her boots. 'hans and i are going over the inventory, nine to twelve. it might run late, depending.' on what, she doesn't elaborate.
'i could come with -'
'it'll be boring and cold,' beatrice denies with a shake of her head. 'please, stay here, stay warm. we can't afford for you to get sick.'
'can i get sick? or would the halo heal that too?'
'i'm - not sure.' beatrice pauses, reaching for her coat. her fingers close around empty air as she thinks about it. shakes her head. 'better not test it.' her eyes narrow when ava just hums. 'ava. please don't test it.'
'fine. buzzkill.'
'i'm not a buzz-'
'i'm teasing, bea.' ava glances to the bathroom - warm, inviting - and back to beatrice. 'hey,' she says, effortlessly casual. rainwater drips down to her soggy, muddy trainers. 'who was the message from?'
'message?'
'yeah. down by the lake? you got a message.'
'ah. it was from hans, like i said.' beatrice doesn't meet her eyes when she says it, stooping to collect her keys and wallet from the coffee table. 'right. i'll be back around midday, maybe one. i'll bring lunch. any preferences?'
the truth, ava wants to say, but it feels a bit dramatic. and she kinda just wants to shuffle into the bathroom and defrost, so she says, 'curry. nice and hot.'
'alright. i'll see what i can do. and ava?'
was this it? was she going to tell her? ava perks up, smiles.
'i know this is unfair but - the rain, could you...?'
ava slumps. waves her away. 'i'll mop. don't worry about it.'
'thank you. truly.'
//
beatrice is late. she comes through the door at twenty past one, wind-swept, cheeks flushed with the cold. it's not raining anymore but the chill lingers and she has mud splattered on her boots and the cuffs of her dark jeans, which she changes for black sweatpants and thick woolen socks.
'how was inventory?' ava asks, turning away from the sink where she's finally got around to washing up their coffee cupsâokay, mostly her own, which she's left scattered around the apartmentâand pulls bowls up from the cupboard, dishes up their curries. she sticks a finger into the centre of her own and frowns, slides it into the microwave. weird. it's not a long walk from the store but either it's colder outside than ava thinks or beatrice took the long way home because the food is barely warm anymore.
the suspicion stings and before she can think it through totally, she's reaching for the crumpled up receipt, plastic bag rustling under her fingers. it is soft and creased, made of that thin, cheap paper in off-grey; someone, maybe beatrice, has touched it with a wet hand and the blue ink of their order has spilled, bled across the page. where it is water-spotted, the paper is soft and easily torn and it rips a little when ava smooths it out but even so, the collection time is legible in the bottom corner.
twelve forty-three.
'âdoesn't have what it takes to be manager, i fear. the entire procedure could do with an overhaul for improved efficiency, which i suggested to the ownerâ'
'why did it take you forty minutes to get home?'
beatrice pauses. takes her time to roll the second sock onto her foot, tucking the end of her sweatpant neatly over it.
'who messaged you this morning? who really messaged you? and don't tell me it was hans because i know he wouldn't be up before nine. ever.'
'the road was slippery. and it was hans.'
'oh it was hans?' ava crosses the kitchen, grabs her own phone out of the pocket. she holds it up. 'i'll text him then, huh? maybe call him and ask - hey, did you call beatrice at the ass crack of dawn this morning?'
'you're being childish.'
ava sucks in a sharp breath, recoils. 'childish? are you for real?' beatrice grimaces, apologetic, but it's not enough. 'me asking questions is - is not me throwing a fucking tantrum.'
'i shouldn't have -'
'no! don't fucking bother!' she says, and it comes out rough and too-loud. heat prickles across her skin - embarrassed, humiliated - because she's pretty sure she's being loud enough that their neighbours can hear, if they're home, if they're listening, and what they'll hear is that beatrice thinks she's a child. what they'll hear is ava's voice cracking with some awful mixture of hurt and anger. 'i'm not being childish. i'm - i'm being scared,' she spits. 'scared and confused and alone because the one person who is supposed to be helping me keeps lying to me!'
beatrice's eyes go wide, flicker over to the fridge and her stupid salt container on top.
'do you think i'm - i'm stupid? huh?' the idea hurts but the heat flares and stings and ava feels like she's on fire so the hurt isn't hurt, it's just fuel. 'you think i don't notice when you sneak off? when you take calls and messages all the time and pretend like they're about something else? when you stay late at work?' she says with a mocking edge, because beatrice has told her exactly that three times in the last two weeks and it's getting stale.
'it's the busy season -'
'are you serious!'
the halo flares and the water in the sink overflows with the force of it, displaced, slops down to the tiles and splashes all over. mugs knock together with dull clacks beneath the water, the sound deadened, drowned. 'stop lying to me. you keep telling me to trust my team but what the fuck does that mean? do you even know?'
beatrice has no answer. she stands in the living room, empty-handed. offers ava nothing in return for her questions.
something cracks in ava's chest and an awful thought bubbles out, filling her chest until she can't breathe. beatrice doesn't care, she doesn't care, she's just standing there and ava has spent too many years begging people to care, to help, to go through it all over again. especially with someone who took her face between her hands, who spoke into her ear as she was passing through pain and stone, and promised to care. promised to remain.
ava drags in a shuddering breath, turns sharply away. she plunges her hands into the sink to rescue the mugs from beneath the water, beneath the waves her halo flung into motion.
'i don't have a team,' ava tells her, voice dull. 'the only person here with me is you and if you don't - if you don't talk to me or - or trust me then we're not a team. you get that, right? it's not about following orders anymore, beatrice. there is no order anymore. not when things are fucked up like this. so it's gotta be about figuring it out together, that's what a team is, isn't it? and even if i can't help, even if i'm - s-slowing us down or doing it all wrong, you're not helping by lying to me.'
the apartment is so quiet now that ava isn't yelling but her head is ringing and she nearly misses it when beatrice starts to talk, so quiet is her voice.
'i shouldn't have lied.' ava snorts. flings the sponge onto the side. 'i didn't want to trouble you with -'
one of the mug cracks in her hand. ava hisses under her breath, spins back around to jab a finger at beatrice. a blod of suds, barely red, lands on the kitchen table between them.
'you didn't want to tell me anything because you thought i'd run again.'
'no.'
beatrice steps forward, into the doorway of the kitchen, her eyes wide. 'ava, no, i never thought that! i -'
for a moment, a very un-beatrice like strain is evident on her face and the part of ava that is hurt and on fire wants to take it as proof, as some desperate scrambling to put together a better lie. the hurt is potent, sick and harsh like a knife in guts, twisted. but there is a much bigger part of ava that likes beatriceâhates to see her hurting, strugglingâand so she waits and watches as the strain breaks, as beatrice pushes past it. sees, for the first time since they barricaded themselves here in this nowhere town, the boundless care that beatrice had offered so freely to ava back in a room full of concrete and chrome.
'i am so truly sorry,' beatrice murmurs, takes another step closer around the table. reaches for ava in one moment before she folds her hands behind her back in the next. a different strain, much more completely conquered. 'i'm sorry, ava, that my actions led you to that conclusion. i know you've changed. i know your dedication, your focus. your - desire to see this through. i see it,' beatrice insists, raw and honest.
with each word, ava feels herself calm. the electric sting of the halo settles.
'it was never a question in my mind that you would run again.'
'then...why? why hide -' ava gestures to the salt container, to beatrice. 'whatever it is?'
beatrice looks ashamed. even when she explains, there's still something missing, something just out of reach that ava cannot hear and beatrice cannot - will not? - say.
'you are working hard. and making vast improvements in everything you do. and so,' beatrice says, and moves to the fridge, pulling out her burner phone, 'when camila began to send me updates and it was all bad news - all of it - i asked her to send it only to me in, what i see now,' she says, tone wry, 'was a misguided attempt to help you. i didn't want to add anything more to your plate - you're dealing with so much already, ava, i only wanted to...spare you that,' she confesses, words barely more than a breath by the end.
ava frowns, not with the weight of anger, only attention. she nods, slowly. 'okay. i - can understand that, i guess.' she huffs. leans her head back, stares at the light on the ceiling.
it's glowing bright. beatrice must have changed it at some point, ava swears it was flickering yesterday.
reaching behind her, ava pulls the plug from the sink. it gurgles as it drains. she peeks over at the braced beatrice.
'so. you do trust me, then?'
a smile, achingly sweet. 'yes, ava, i trust you.'
'oh.' ava pushes her fingers through her hair, forgetting suds and sink water and the little bit of blood. she wipes her hand dry on her shirt, ignoring beatrice's grunt of dismay, or maybe disgust. 'sorry for yelling at you.'
'and i am sorry. for lying. and calling you childish. that was uncalled for.'
they stand together, a few paces apart, just staring at one another. ava is the first to move, exhausted, swaying forward into beatrice. she drops her head heavily onto the other girl's shoulder, curls her arms around her in a way she hasn't dared to do for days. beatrice exhales shakily, breath hot against ava's hair, her ear, and brings her hands up as precisely as she always does. right hand to the back of ava's neck, fingers pressed to her hairline and no lower. left hand against ava's right shoulder blade. then, the tiniest shift. beatrice's littlest finger lifts from its place on ava's hairline; it touches back down, cold, against the agonisingly bare skin of ava's neck.
'do you - can you forgive me?' beatrice asks, very very quietly. 'can we try again?'
there's not much space between them but ava finds it and banishes it, moves closer, hugs beatrice a little tighter. turns her head, nose to neck. 'yes,' she mumbles. 'yeah. i do. we can.'
beatrice nods against her. 'thank you.'

8/7/2023
7 days into the 8th month of the year probably isn't the best time to try starting a bunch of new things to try to turn my life around, but hey, at least I started on a Monday.
Back in May I spent about two weeks waking up at 5am every day (mostly) in order to get work done while the apartment was otherwise empty (my roommate has a very early morning job). I was pretty amazed at how productive I was for those two weeks. Animazement, and then moving to the new apartment, pretty much derailed that. And after the move a lot of things happened and so on and so forth, and I never got back around to trying to wake up at 5am every day, until last week. I had a couple of successful 5ams and a few failures, but then on Friday I decided that even if all I do is sit down with my coffee and scroll Tumblr or watch dumb Youtube videos or stare into space, I was going to wake up at 5am every day no matter what. I was getting too in my head about it, lamenting that waking up at 5am and not wanting to be productive was somehow a waste of time. Hopefully it sticks this time because let me tell you, yes waking up that early does suck but the world is so peaceful at 5am. Nobody else is awake both IRL and online. I can get so much done if I feel like it, and even if I can't I still get to enjoy the peace and quiet! And it's not 1000 degrees yet!
I'm also trying super hard to start writing at least 1000 words per day. I was doing that for a long time back during 2020 but things (surprisingly unrelated to the pandemic) happened and I fell out of the habit. Again, I was getting too in my head about it, because there were days, a lot of days, where I'd sit down to write whatever WIP I was struggling with and would fail to write. This is counting towards my 1000 words for today, even though it's just a silly blog post about nothing. It's still words. Hopefully this will stick, too.
And finally, I made myself put on clothing I could sweat in and left the house a little after 7am to go for a quick mental health walk. I've been in this new apartment for nearly two months now and I somehow hadn't bothered to explore the new neighborhood yet, which is weird because that's usually one of the first things I do! And even weirder, I knew there were three PokĂŠstops and a gym within easy walking distance and yet I had no interest in going to them.
When I tell you my depression has been bad for these last two months, I mean bad.
But anyway, the area is pretty nice as far as these things go. It's suburban sprawl, but there are some houses with cute gardens and there is a dog park. I also saw a cat! And yes, there are the three aforementioned PokĂŠstops and 1 gym. I left the gym red today, but tomorrow I intend to take it for Team Mystic. I also need to figure out how Routes work, because if I can set up a route between these stops and gym I will be 100% more likely to drag myself out of the house even on days where I don't want to.
It was nice out this morning. Well, there was 100% humidity because it rained last night, BUT there was a nice breeze and it was maybe 73 degrees at most, which is just downright chilly for this time of the year. I might have to start dragging my ass out of the house at 6am instead of 7am on days where it's going to be hot, though. And once winter sets in, I might be out jogging before dawn. I never ever thought I'd be the kind of person that goes out jogging before dawn.
Anyway, if for some reason you read to the end of this post, congratulations, I guess? And in the much more likely scenario that you are me from the future in, say, December... well, I hope you kept these up, future me. And even added more things to improve my stupid failing health and dumb broken brain!

Find me under the rain.
Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Summary: You are having a pretty rough day when a storm hits. With no umbrella, phone or car, you accept the fate of walking under it. But you didnt expect finding someone while getting soaked by the freezing December rain.
Warnings: None. All fluff.
Your eyes stare at the dark clouded sky, shoulders slumped in defeat at the sight. What was once an easy-breezy rain has become a roaring storm. You were stubborn and overline irresponsible, as you had bought the vinyl record of Folklore instead of the very much needed umbrella.
More regret feels in your stomach as you see none of your study group around, all of them being at home by now. With a sigh you wait for some divine miracle, but at the lack of it, you make your mind.Make a run for it and hope that you donât get a cold. Those final exams were not going to do themselves otherwise.
You push the library doors, grabbing your bag in hopes to make it some kind of protection from the incessant drops of water. Feet jogging down the stairs, a squeak leaves your mouth as the ice cold water of the ground soaks your feet. Great, now you have wet socks.
âThis just gets better and betterâ You grumble. The storm seems to get intense by the second, the now dark brown coat you're wearing doing nothing to repel the chilling bone cold. Your hair sticks to your front, droplets of water travelling all the way down to your neck. Your jumper doesnât even bother to dry them any more. The air seems to have a personal vendetta on you as it make it difficult for you to move.
The way to your house seems so fucking far. But taking a taxi on a work day at this hours in New York is less possible than winning the lottery. And you ran out of battery, so calling someone to pick you up isn't an option either. The hope of getting home without being utterly covered in water slowly leaves your body, feet slowing down with a defeated sight. You hold back the tears pricking into the corner of your eyes. This day has been the absolute worst. Everything that could go wrong backfired you right on the face.
But then the incessant heavy droplets stop. And you open your eyes, straightening your back. What the Heavy breath startles you slightly, making you turn around.
And suddenly it is like all the bad thoughts and feelings leave both mind and body. All the difficulties of today vanishing along the water that streams down the streets. A girl, a little bit taller than you, clutches one knee with her left while holding a deep red umbrella above you with her right. You notice the black polish, and the neat silver rings on her fingers. Her hair is a long and curly, of a brown kinda reddish colour that suits her very well with her deep, forest green eyes. Her skin seems soft, alongside her slightly opened pink lips. You blush and move your eyes. But every single thing about her seems to be equally enchanting. Your sole focus now on this mysterious woman that took your worries away just like that.
âDamn, you are pretty fast, huh?â The blush of your cheeks seems to raise all the way up to your ears, masking them burn at the sound of her voice. Your jaw slackens, and you are pretty sure that you are looking like a total idiot. âI uhâŚI saw you on the library. You seemed to be having a pretty rough day.â She comments.
Something in her is quite familiar, but you can put your mind to work.
âAnd then I saw the way you looked at the sky and⌠well, not that I was looking at you in a creepy way, I would never do that⌠but not because I don't find you pretty, because I doâŚâ The redhead rumbles, scratching the back of her neck. You are pretty sure your brain cells must be dead by now. The goddess right in front of you thinks you are pretty? âBut Iâm trailing off, sorry.â She laughs. â The point is that I would be glad to escort you home. If you want it so, thatâs it.â
You think about saying the typical âI donât want to bother you, or Iâll be fineâ, you just met her after all. But something in her makes you trust her. And you couldnât find to say no, too mesmerized by her.
âYeah, Iâd like that.â You say softly, the stranger's shoulders lowering with a relieved sigh. And then she smiles. All the cold you previously felt is gone in an instant. âMy house is just around the corner.â
She nods, getting closer so the both of you could get under the umbrella. Your arms touch ever so slightly, making a shiver run all the way through your system. You decided itâs because of the weather, that the erratic beating in your chest is because you ran earlier. She smells sweet, like a hint of cocoa and fresh backed cookies. Everything about her seems to make your heart beat a little faster. The adrenaline, you remind again.
âHope I didnât come in a creepy wayâ She excuses, fidgeting with her index ring.
âWell, my mother have always warned me about bringing strangers home, but she didn't mention that they were as gorgeous as you.â You smile a little shy, feeling adoration at the nervous stutter from.
âWell, the name is Wanda. So you donât get walked home by a total stranger.â She jokes as the two of you start walking.
âY/N, so you don't walk a total stranger home.â
You two stay silent after the pleasant interaction. But is no an awkward silence, it was a nice kind, that kind that made you feel at peace, a feeling of very much need comfort pacing the anxiety you had felt not even ten minutes ago. It was nice. Wanda was nice. You're even almost tempted to take a longer route, not wanting this pacific moment to end. Not wanting for her to leave just as quickly as she arrived. It was absurd, really, how much you have attached to her in this ridiculously short amount of time.
But as you stole glances, you had this want, almost need to get to know her.
Unfurtonatley, you two finally made it in front of your door, realizing that the storm started to cease. âOf course that it stops right when I get homeâŚâ You mumble. Wanda chuckles, closing the umbrella and stepping ever so slightly from you. And so, you to look at each other awkwardly, neither wanting this to end. Yup. Wanda stands in front of you, and you hate the idea of her leaving. So, gathering all the courage you have, you ask. âWant to come inside? Iâll lend you a towel and something to drink. Itâs the least I can do after you shared your umbrella with me.â
âOh, you donât own me anythingâŚ-â She starts, but you just look at her.
âI know, I just want to. If you want it so, thatâs it.â You say, copying her exact same words with a sly smile. Wanda shakes her head in amusement and agrees.
âAlright then.â You smile brightly and let her in, closing the door behind her.
It was awkward at first, Wanda following you shyly, waiting for you on the couch while you went to the bathroom for a change of clothes and a pair of towels for her to dry her humid hair. But then, you quickly star falling on an easy conversation, getting to know each other. And you loved every single second of it.
Itâs not a heavy conversation by any means, more like silly question thrown at each other like. This is what you have for now.Se has a brother, a twin, Pietro, and they have recently arrived to New York. Her favorite colour is red, she loves cooking, sitcoms and hot cocoa. She prefers cats than dogs, her favourite singer is Taylor Swift and appreciates star gazing at night, even if in New York was impossible to do so
She also has beautiful eyes, her nose scrunches a little when she laughs, and she fidgets with her rings when she gets excited by something she likes. Not that she tells you, you just notice. You seem to notice everything about her.
Hours go by, two now cold cups left on the coffee table. You company to her door, trying to not let your disappointment show. You know it was an act of courtesy, but you feel like it was more than just that. And when Wanda finally starts leaving, that same anxiety of before strangles your heart even harder now. As you look at her like a sad puppy would, you notice. You ran fast to the living room, grabbing it and heading outside in no time.
âWanda, wait! You're forgetting your umbrella!â You yell. She turns around and gives you a wink.
âGuess weâll have to meet again for you to return it, then!â And just like that, sheâs gone. Your mouth is slightly open, softly laughing at her smugness. As you go inside, a smile piece of paper slowly falls down, sliding right in front of you. You swear the ink was red for an instant before returning to black.
A phone number. Your cheeks are starting to hurt.
Yeah, it settled. You are absolutely infuriated with this mysterious girl.

A/N: henlooo~ I finally posted! This has been sitting in my drafts for a while but I didn't really feel like writing for a while, hence the delay. I hope y'all enjoy this piece and please don't forget to leave some feedback! It really motivates me :)
A cool gust of wind blew by as you finished typing your last column, leaving a soothing feeling behind as you exhaled loudly. It was hard to finish this piece of writing for some reason, maybe because you lacked inspiration or maybe because your life had been monotonous for a while or simply, a mix of both. Closing your laptop you stretch your hands and legs, feeling somewhat productive. Humming a tune, you looked out the window to see a Lamborghini come to a halt at the entrance.
It piqued your interest because it's not often that people riding Lamborghini come in this cabin so genuinely you're interested in the visitor. You shifted in your chair, waiting for the man to come upstairs to the reception and sure enough a tall- really tall man dressed in a neatly pressed suit appears into your view, briskly walking towards the reception where Chan stood to greet him. You could not get a good look at his face as he moved around quickly, grabbing his small carry on and heading towards his cabin after the formalities.
You watched his tall frame walking away as you got up from your seat and moved towards Chan.
"Who is he?"
"Kim Mingyu," Chan explained, resting his arms on the reception table." A millionaire, owns a lot of companies. No wonder he looked familiar."
"Oh, really? How long is he staying?"
"He has booked for five days. Said he might extend his stay."
"I see."
"Why are you so curious though?" Chan raised a brow at you, tilting his head to a side.
"Nothing." You shrugged. "He just has different vibes than the other people that come here you know?"
Chan hummed in agreement.
-
There was never much visitors during the rainy season which was both a blessing and a curse. Blessing because that meant the cabin was less hectic and curse because sometimes you are bound to get a bit too bored. You were helping yourself with a cup of tea to somewhat feel re-energised when your newest and the only guest for the week appeared from his cabin, padding through the corridor and stepping into the common kitchen area. You were taken aback for a moment before you composed yourself and smiled at your guest, "Good morning, Mr. Kim. May I help you with anything?"
"Mingyu, please," the tall male replied while scanning the kitchen area. "You're the owner right? What's the food arrangement here?"
"Well, our guests generally cook for themselves or order takeout. When there are many guests I sometimes do the cooking."
Nodding, he hummed before putting in a capsule in the cappuccino machine. You took a seat by the window, tea in your hand as you watched the male move around like he knew this place. Dressed in his pajamas and judging by the fluffy mess that his hair was you assumed he had a good night's sleep.
"I hope you had a pleasant night, Mr- Mingyu." You said to your guest who had whipped out a pan from the cupboard and was making omelette. "Yes, surprisingly so. Normally I have trouble falling asleep but I slept like a baby last night," he casually conversed as he prepared his breakfast.
You smiled, "Well, I'm glad to know that. If you need anything let my staffs or me know."
"Sure. Oh- I didn't get your name though." Mingyu turned to meet your eyes.
"___," you smiled.
"___, okay."
-
"This is gonna be a rainy week," Hoshi said from behind you as he stood holding a tub of fresh soil for the plants in the backyard of the cabin. You sat on your knees, eyeing the plants which needed their soil changed.
"Yeah? Well, good thing there isn't much guests now."
"I think there should be, I mean it's so pretty here during the rain too. People need to look at it themselves." Hoshi complained.
"Well, most people don't like going out in the rain. Pass me the soil, Hoshi. Let's get this finished before the shower starts."
Hoshi handed you the tub of soil as the sky above started growling, full of thick black clouds. It was gonna start raining soon.
Hoshi spoke, "Oh, Mr.Kim, Mingyu you know, asked me about the beach by the marketplace. Apparently he wants to visit so he asked me if I was free to show him around."
"And let me guess, you aren't?" You rolled your eyes.
Soonyoung pouted, "No! Well I would have given him a tour today if the weather wasn't so bad. And my friends are coming tomorrow, so I'll be busy then."
"Wait- you're friends are coming?" You turned, glaring at the boy who smiles sheepishly, "Oh! Um- I didn't tell you? Well they're only staying for a couple of days and it's not like they're staying for free."
"Well, make sure they clean after themselves okay? If I see them trashing all over the place like last time, I'm kicking you out with them." You gave him a pointed look.
"Okay okay," Hoshi rolled his eyes, puffing his cheeks. "Just- take the CEO out on a tour tomorrow for me okay? I haven't seen my friends in a long time."
"Alright, I will...if the weather is good which probably won't be." You sighed, gently removing the old soil.
Hoshi mused about Mingyu, "Bummer for him, he came in a wrong time. It's weird, no? We don't have such guests like him."
"Yeah," you hummed, focused on handling your roses.
-
Hoshi's friend, Seokmin and Seungkwan appeared early in the morning next day as you watched Hoshi vibrate from happiness when he hugged them. You smiled to yourself, laughing at at the antics of your staff as you saw him guide his friends into their cabin. The day was once again filled with dark clouds and raining which occurred every other hour. You and Chan cleaned up and completed some chores as the noon fell.
"Should I cook something up for them?" You wondered as Chan finished cleaning the common space of the first cabin.
"Nah, Seokmin hyung is cooking for them. He's a pretty good cook actually."
"Really? That's nice." You said pulling up a chair to sit down. "Are you gonna join them? Hoshi has been with his friends since they came."
"Yeah, probably. You should join us too."
"No, I think I'm gonna take a nap. I feel so tired."
"Alright."
You watched as Chan climbed down the stairs and stepped towards the second cabin where everyone else was. You were about to head to your room when the CEO, Mingyu appeared in the kitchen.
"Oh, hello."
"Hi."
"I haven't seen you since morning," you said watching as Mingyu poured himself a glass of water.
"Yeah, I woke up early today, went for a jog."
"Ah, I see."
"Couldn't go far though, the weather sucks you know." He said leaning against the kitchen top.
"Yeah. But I heard that it should get better from tomorrow. I could show you around if you want to. Hoshi, my staff, is going to busy for a while so I can guide you around."
"Really? That would be cool." Mingyu smiled. There was a small stretch of silence as you both listened to the rainfall before he spoke, "Have you had lunch?"
"Uh-no."
"Would you like to join me?" He asked "This is the longest time I've been alone and it feels a bit weird," he murmured more to himself than you.
"I mean- I don't mind," you shrugged. "Though I should be the one doing it."
"It's okay. People say I am a good cook," Mingyu smiled, his eyes crinkling.
"Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to see."
-
It was weird how comfortable you felt watching Mingyu being clumsy and bump into things as he prepared your meal. It felt like you've been doing this forever- like you've known him forever and you thought to yourself what was suddenly wrong with you. He made small talk as he cooked and it felt easy talking with him- almost impossible to believe that he was stranger. He was friendly and easy to get along with, definitely not a cold and grumpy businessman like you imagined him to be.
Mingyu grinned as he set down the food in front of you- chicken soup, rice and cheese omelette. His eyes twinkled excitedly as he watched you take a bite, waiting for you to say something.
"What are you? A part time chef or something?" You tried not to moan as you chewed because it was that good. Mingyu laughed- a sweet, shy laugh that had his canines showing and his eyes forming crescents. "Thank you. I learned from my mom. I like cooking for myself when I get the time which is not often," he smiled- almost sadly.
"Well, you can cook for me all you want as long as you're here because this is amazing!" You grinned at him, cheeks puffed with food.
Mingyu chuckled softly as he dug in and you both started eating. It felt nice, to talk to someone new and spend time with them, someone other than Chan or Hoshi. It was a nice change- a change you probably needed for a while.
"So...What brings you here?" You asked as you finished your food, setting down the spoon and leaning back into the chair. Mingyu who was still eating, looked at you with a perplexed expression so you spoke, "I mean...we don't generally have guests like you. And it's not even a good time to visit...so I was wondering what brought you here?"
"Guests like me? What does that mean?"
"I mean...rich, okay?" You fumbled, feeling awkward. Maybe you shouldn't have asked. "Like...there are fancier places to visit, you know..."
Mingyu smiled at your words for a moment before he deadpanned, "I'm running away."
"Running away?" You gasped, almost jumping from your seat, "From who? The cops?"
"It would have been better but no, my family," he said, his voice as serious as ever.
"Oh...I see," you fell quiet. It definitely wasn't the answer you expected. You both remained silent for a while as he started out the window, lost in thoughts. "It must have been really bad if you're hiding out here." You spoke softly.
"It has always been," he mumbled. "I just couldn't take it anymore, you know? I desperately needed a break," he spoke more to himself than you. Instead of prodding further, you sat quietly, watching him and listening to his words. Seeing him now, he definitely looks troubled and you didn't exactly have the words to console him.
So you whispered, "Well, I hope it gets better."
-
Later that night, you find Hoshi and his friends and Chan preparing for a bonfire in the front yard of the cabin.
"Wow, you all are really having fun, no?" You said as you fisted your hands in your pockets from the chilly weather. The air was colder than other nights and everyone including you had put on some warm clothes.
"You wanna join us?" Seokmin asked as he stacked logs on top of each other.
"Nah, it's fine. You four carry on," you patted his back as you started walking back towards the cabin and saw Chan and Hoshi coming out with some boxes in their hands.
"Hey! There are marshmallows in the kitchen cabinet if you want.... nevermind," you finished as you saw beer cans and soju bottles in their hands.
"We're gonna get drunk baby!" Soonyoung yelled, grinning like a fool.
"Hyung, you look drunk already," Chan gave him a side look as they trudged towards the bonfire.
Laughing at their antics you climbed the stairs to the kitchen, preparing some hot chocolate for yourself. Holding the mug on one hand you knocked on the door to Mingyu's room, checking up on him since you haven't seen him since lunch.
The door opened revealing Mingyu in a baggy shirt and pajamas, his hair fluffy and messy.
"Hey," you chriped. "Wanted to check up on you. You wanna join the others in the bonfire?"
"Nah, I'm good. I've been watching them from the balcony." He smiled, his pointy canines showing.
"Oh, I see."
"You wanna come in? I've been getting lonely." He offered, moving away from the door to make space for you.
"Uh- I don't mind," you murmured, surprised that he asked you to come in. You tentatively stepped in and it was fair to say that you were surprised to see the room neat and pristine as most guests kept their room messy.
He ushered you into the balcony, which had a great view of your yard and the forest behind. You saw others laughing loudly as Soonyoung acted something out. Mingyu's voice pulled you out of your thoughts.
"You didn't join them?"
"Nah, they can get too loud sometimes," you chuckled, taking a seat on the bench. You eyed an empty mug lying by, guessing that Mingyu already had his fill of hot chocolate.
Mingyu took a seat beside you, stretching his legs and sighing as he mused, "The view is great."
You hummed your agreement. It was indeed. Not only did you have the full view of your yard and the forest, but you could see a vast horizon of the night sky, some stars twinkling through the clouds.
"It's even more beautiful during summer. You can see so many stars that it feels unreal." You told him.
"Then I will try to visit again during summer," he smiled and you were not sure if he was serious or joking. However you replied with a smile, "You're always welcome."
A silence falls among you two after that but it's not uncomfortable, as you both watched the night grow and Soonyoung and his friends got louder.
"Things got really hard for me, you know," Mingyu started speaking, his voice soft as he stared at the mesh of trees ahead. You were somewhat surprised at his words, but you didn't interrupt, opting for him to continue.
"Running a million dollar company was never easy but...it suddenly was unbearable. My parents always interfered in my work and how I run the company but I managed through all of that, really...until..." Mingyu heaved a long sigh, abruptly stopping.
"Until?" You tentatively asked, peeking at him.
"They want me to get married. With the daughter of their business partner. A marriage of convenience, really."
Oh.
You fell silent, watching him as the moonlight dimly lit the side of his face. There wasn't enough light to see his face completely, but enough to see the curve of his face, his sharp jawline and the sad, lost look in his eyes. Your heart suddenly ached for him. Silently you patted his shoulder, conjuring up some words to console him.
"That's ...awful, really. I'm sorry."
"I've never been so mad in my whole life. Can't they just leave me alone? They treat me like a puppet, like my only job is to live for them. I'm so done. " He said, his hands forming fists.
There's a beat of silence as you quietly patted his back and watched your friends get wasted by the bonfire before he chuckled softly, "I'm sorry for dumping all these on you. I just couldn't hold them in you know-"
"It's really fine, Mingyu. I don't mind. It would be nice if I could actually help you," you sighed, retracting your hand.
"Trust me, you are," he said and you caught a smile on his face.
"I suppose you don't have a significant other? Someone you could talk to freely?"
He shook his head. "That is why I came here. Needed to get my thoughts together, away from them. Not to mention I don't remember the last time I went on a vacation."
"And have you got your thoughts together?"
"I think so, yeah." He shrugged.
"What are you gonna do?" You asked tilting your head.
"Stand strong in my ground, I guess. There's no way I'm marrying their business partner, I'd rather die. And if all else fails, I'm staying here. I'm sure you have some type of job for me, right?"
You laughed at his words, "Maybe. But I'm not sure about your skills, Mr. Kim."
"Oh I'm a fast learner, Miss ___."
You both grinned at each other.
That night when you went back to your room, your thoughts were plagued by Mingyu and you could swear you saw him in your dreams too.
-
The next morning is brighter and shinier; the sky relatively clear other than some light clouds. After getting dressed and checking up on Hoshi and Chan who were still sleeping, you trudged through the cabin and towards Mingyu's room, before knocking on it. A fully dressed Mingyu appeared, clad in a white polo and jeans, his hair styled messily. He looked effortlessly attractive, making your heart skipp a few beats.
Damn it, what was wrong with you?
"Hi," you almost missed a breath, your face flushed with warmth.
"Oh, hey. I was about to come to you. I believe you were to show me around." Mingyu grinned, his pointy canines showing.
"And that is what I'm here for, Mr. Kim."
"Great! Let's get going. We'll take my car."
-
After showing Mingyu around for a couple of hours, you both ended up at the beach by the marketplace, sitting on the sand next to each other. The weather was nice; not too hot, not too cold as a light breeze flew by occasionally. Though you could see some black clouds gathering above, it wasn't to rain until evening if the forecast was correct.
"This place is so pretty," Mingyu mused, making you smile.
"I know right. The weather is great too."
You both watched the waves crash to the shore, occasionally wetting your feet as you both relaxed on the sand. There was a silence, a comfortable one as you finished eating the corndog you bought from the market earlier with some groceries. As you finished the last bite, Mingyu turned to face you and asked, "Tell me about yourself."
"What?" A squeak of surprise escaped from you.
"I shared a lot about myself last night. It's only fair I get to know about you too."
"Well..." You pondered. "There isn't much to tell. I've a pretty dull life, unlike you."
Mingyu chuckled, shaking his head, "Does the cabin belong to your parents? Is it like a family business type of thing?"
"No, not really," you smiled softly. "My parents are dead. The cabin belonged to my grandfather."
"Oh- I'm sorry."
"No it's okay. They passed away in an accident when I was a kid so I don't remember them much." You spoke, watching the sea, "My grandparents raised me. Growing up I've spent a lot of time in the cabin and when my grandfather retired he handed the job to me."
"Are they alive? Your grandparents?" He asked tentatively.
You shook your head, "Grandpa passed away a couple years ago and it's been a few months since grandma did too."
"I'm sorry, you must've been lonely," Mingyu offered, his voice soft.
You shrugged, "Yeah, like I said, nothing interesting going on in my life."
Mingyu hummed noncommittally and there was a few moments of silence before he spoke again, "Was managing the cabin something you have always wanted to do?"
You were quiet for a while as you thought over the question, "No...not really. I've just kept doing the job I was handed to. I haven't really thought about what I want to do."
"Well...I think you should hire a manager in your place and maybe...I don't come to the city and make friends, see what calls for you."
"Yeah, I've thought about it. But I don't know really." You murmured.
"Well, give it some thought. I could help you find a manager. In fact, I could help promote and upgrade your cabin if you'd let me. It'll be a good investment."
You laughed softly, not taking his words too seriously. He was just a guest. He was probably just being nice.
A gust of strong wind flew by, ruining your hair as it poked into your eyes and you laughed when your eyes landed on Mingyu.
"What?"
His hair was sticking in different directions because of the wind and you shook your head with a smile as you reached to pat the hairs back into place. It happened naturally, before you could stop yourself. For a moment your eyes meet as you quickly retract your hand, face heated.
Something was definitely wrong with you.
Mingyu's gaze stayed at you for a while; you could feel his intense eyes on you and you thought maybe he didn't like you touching him. Before your thoughts ran more rampant, he spoke.
"___?"
"Y-yes?"
"Do you...Do you have a home?"
"Home?" You were confused.
"Yes, home. Not like a real house but like a... person. Someone who makes you feel at ease, someone with whom you can be yourself without judgements, someone who keeps you cozy and safe and loved...like a home."
Somewhat taken aback by his words, you fell silent but their depth hit you and you found yourself thinking about it. Do you have a home?
No. No, you don't.
You shook your head, murmuring, "No."
Mingyu nodded taking his eyes off you.
"What about you?" You asked.
"Me neither."
You smiled, "Figures. Because if you had someone you wouldn't have run here but went to them."
Mingyu smiled, a sad smile gracing his lips. It was a somewhat bitter truth, he hadn't found his home no matter how much he looked for it. Maybe that's what he was doing wrong, looking desperately.
"Let's get going. It has started to rain," Your voice dragged him out of his thoughts as he felt small drops of water fall on his face. You reached your hand out to him and he took it, standing up. As you both jogged towards Mingyu's car, your hands remained connected, no one bothering to let go.
-
That night you had dinner with Mingyu again but this time it was you who did the cooking. After enjoying dinner over small talk, Mingyu like the gentleman he is did the dishes as you poured some wine for the two of you.
Sitting on the small table in common space by the window, you both watched the clear sky that had appeared after the shower. You sipped your wine, watching the vast expanse of stars that blinked in the dark sky.
"I think I've to go back tomorrow," Mingyu suddenly whispered, his tone so low you almost thought you misheard him. A bolt out the blue, you looked at him.
"Tomorrow?"
"Mmhmm," he fiddled with the hem of his cardigan as he stared at the table. "I've got so many calls and messages from work. My company won't run on its on, I can be gone for only so long." He sighed.
You didn't offer any words, too shocked to know that he'd be gone tomorrow. What is this attachment you've developed towards him? Why did the thought of someone, almost a stranger going back to where he came from, where he belonged hurt you so much? You didn't know what to label your feelings but realizing that you'd probably never see him again was tugging at your heartstrings.
Should you ask him for his number and stay connected with him? Is there even a point in that? You both live miles away from each other. Or should just take his advice and follow him to the city? Would that even be a good idea? Are you just reading all this wrong?
You were so invested in your thoughts that you didn't realize Mingyu was calling you until he shook your shoulder.
"You okay, ___?"
"Huh? Yeah...it's just, the news is really sudden. I didn't... expect you'd return so soon." You mumbled.
Mingyu sighed, his shoulder dropping a little bit. "Trust me, if I could I'd stay here forever. But...I can't keep running. I need to face my parents, the sooner the better."
At a loss of what to say, you just nodded. Reaching for your drink you took a big gulp, trying to calm your nerves. It's okay, you can do this. He's just another one of your guests.
You stood up, taking the empty glass in your hand, "Well, I better leave you alone now. I'm sure you've got packing to do."
You almost turned away; until a strong hand gripped your wrist and pulled you back, making you stumble towards Mingyu's body.
"Don't. Stay for a while. I don't want you to leave." His voice was soft yet deep and it immediately broke your resolve as you set the glass down and looked into his eyes.
He didn't let go of your wrist; instead only wrapped his other hand around your waist, pulling you closer, leaving just a few inches between your faces. You didn't tell him to move neither did you make any effort to get away from him- you didn't want to. It felt good, comforting as he held you and looked at you almost like you were his whole world. His eyes had so much emotion swirling in them and you were sure yours looked the same too.
"___?" His voice was breathy and it set your heart aflame.
"Y-yes?"
"Can I...kiss you?"
You inhaled sharply as his hold on you got tighter. You couldn't process a reply, overwhelmed with emotion. So you just nodded and Mingyu leaned in, pressing his lips to yours.
It was soft at first, his lips just resting against yours, as if he was testing the waters. When you didn't resist but only pulled him closer, he started devouring you, his tongue prodding in your wet cavern. Moans espaced from you as you kept pulling at his hair almost grinding on him, desperate for more. He was the same, kissing you with so much passion and vigour like you were the last female standing.
You somehow managed to tug off his cardigan between the kiss and when you pulled apart for air, Mingyu panted, "Can we take this to the bedroom?"
His deep raspy voice spread liquid heat throughout your body and you had to stop yourself from pouncing on him.
"Yes please," you breathed. Mingyu stood up straight, his tall and built body intimidating you in the best ways possible, "Oh baby, you don't have to beg. I'll give you anything you want."
Once again your breath was trapped as he picked you up, his hand under your ass to support you. When he dropped you on his bed and took off his tee you realized you were in for a long night. In the back of your mind, you also realized that this would make it even harder to let him go.
-
Next morning you were the first one to wake up as the sun barely seeped through the blinds. If you had to guess it wasn't any more than six am. Mingyu's hand rested on your waist as he remained snuggled against your back. It was so comforting that you almost forgot your reality and went back to sleep, until you remembered what had happened last night. Before you could start overthinking and possibly had a breakdown right there, you ever so carefully removed his hand from your body and scrawled out of the bed, grabbing your shirt and quickly throwing it on. Then you tiptoped out of his room despite the ache between your legs and rushed straight towards yours.
Slamming the door shut, your sat down, head in your hands. You've to now prepare for saying goodbye. Right, you just need to act casual and not let him know that you might have developed feelings for him in the past week.
His words came back to you.
"Do you have a home?"
You didn't have one until now but the realization that you may have found it brought tears to your eyes.
-
You spent the next hours wallowing in your self pity, curled up in your bed too afraid to get out and face Mingyu. Soonyoung dropped by once, knocking at your door and asking if you want breakfast, which you declined. Time slowly ticked away and you watched as the clock struck eleven. You couldn't stay inside forever. You needed to bid Mingyu a goodbye- that is if he hadn't left already. But you were sure he didn't; he wouldn't just leave without any words.
Sighing, you gathered every last bit of your courage and stepped out of your room. Immediately you saw Mingyu coming out from the opposite end of the corridor, the carry-on he brought with him in his hand.
"Hey, where have you been?" He asked, his steps getting quicker to come and stand in front of you.
"Oh- um, I took and shower and then dozed off, sorry," you lied easily, not meeting his eyes.
There was a beat of silence as you both stood in front of each other and when your eyes finally met his, a blush spread across his face like wildfire. The air was heavy with unsaid words and you coughed, trying to get rid of the terrible awkwardness.
"So, you're leaving now?"
What a nice question.
Mingyu seemed to be lost in thoughts as he snapped back to reality and scratched the back of his head, "Oh yeah, right. It'll be a couple hours drive so the earlier I leave the better."
Nodding you motioned your hand towards the exit, "I'll see you out."
Mingyu seemed to have something to say but he pressed his lips in a thin line and started to climb down the stairs, you behind him. Soonyoung, who was standing at the entrance gave you a conspirational wiggle of his brows but said nothing as he watched you follow Mingyu out.
You observed as Mingyu loaded his bag in the trunk, peeking glances at you every other second. When he finished, you spoke, "Well...good luck. I hope you can overcome your problems."
"Thanks. It won't be easy and my dad will probably take away my shares of the company but...I'm done living like this."
You nodded, smiling softly as you crossed your arms against your chest. It suddenly felt cold.
You both gazed at each other, saying nothing even though you've so much to say, as if the silence would carry your unsaid words to him. You were torn- wanting to talk about last night but chickening out knowing it was probably just a fling, a one night stand for him.
"___..." Mingyu spoke but the words died on his tongue. Not trusting yourself to speak, you swallwed the ball of emotions and looked at him with a curious tilt of head.
"...I hope you find what you really want to do. And I hope you find your home too," he said, his words so soft and gentle. For some reason you had a feeling that those were not the words he wanted to say yet you forced a smile and nodded, "You too, Mingyu."
His eyes swirled with so my emotions but you didn't know what he was thinking. He looked pained, just like you but you were too afraid to speak your feelings, scared that you misread him.
When you spoke no more, Mingyu sighed and backstopped slowly, "Well... goodbye, then."
You managed to choke out the words, "Goodbye."
Your emotions overwhelmed you, tears stinging your eyes as you watched him enter his car. Why did it hurt so much? Why did it feel like your heart was being ripped right out of your chest?
His engine roared to life and your stomach sunk. Was this really the right thing to do? Should you just let him go like this?
You made a split second decision that moment, just as his car moved forward a little.
"Mingyu!" You called after him, immediately making him stop the car. He came out, almost in a hurry, an expectant look on his face as you ran towards him. Then you made another split second decision as you wrapped your arms around his tall frame and held tight.
"I like you, Mingyu. I really like you." You mumbled in his chest.
He didn't say anything back but you felt his arms wrapping around you tightly and you stood there in each others embrace for a while. It felt like time has stopped, the warmth and safety of his arms comforting you and making you realize how you would have regretted if you had let him go.
Mingyu pulled back to take a look at your face, his hand cupping your cheeks, his warm but intense eyes on you, shining with love and adoration.
"Say something," you whispered, still unsure.
He chuckled, a light-hearted, carefree sound that made your heart swoon. "I like you too, if it wasn't obvious after last night."
Elated, you pulled his face down and kissed his lips as you felt him grin and wrap his arms around you once again.
"I want to go with you...to the city," you murmured into his chest as he rested his chin on the top of your head.
You couldn't see it but you felt him smirk, "Good. Because I think I found my home."
Your heart couldn't become fuller as you grinned like a happy child.
"Me too."

6:00 A.M.
Dennis hated waking up. Though he was married whenever he arose and reached over to his wife's side of the bed it was always cold. It didn't used to be this way. Not too long ago he would wake to find her snuggling into him, but now it was as if he was a single man all over again.
Scrubbing his hands over his face as he sat on the edge of the bed he wondered where his wife was this time. At some point after he was laid off she started changing. Working out more, staying out more, sleeping over at her sisters for reasons she never made clear to him.
Walking over to the closet Dennis retrieved his uniform, laying it on top of the bed, neatly. The gawd awful pink retail shirt, unflattering khaki pants, with the leather belt and penny loafers made him internally groan at the sight each morning.
As the steam dissipated from the shower Dennis mindlessly stared at his own reflection. Dread poured over him the closer it got time for him to leave for work. This job was a far cry from his former one as Head of IT. A major data breach ruined his career in the tech field. Despite his best efforts to prevent the cyber attack his warnings went unheeded, sighting unnecessary cost for the infrastructure. And when the inevitable happened his neck was brought to the chopping block.
With that blemish on his record it was hard to get another job of similar note with this infraction hanging over his head. Now reduced to technical expert at Betsy's Computer store. A glorified titled for a retail worker that pushed more PS5's than actual technical support.
With the drop in title so did the salary. The mortgage, car note and other bills began piling up on top of each other. Credit cards were starting to hit their own limit, all contributing to his physical and mental decline.

7:00 A.M.
As he began dressing he heard a faint sound coming from down stairs. Tucking in his shirt as he left the bedroom he heard the rare sound of his wife, Sarah. She was talking cheerfully to someone he hoped would be her sister. When he entered the archway his heart sank as she quieted herself, her mood fully changed before slipping her cell into her pocket.
Quickly she picked up a dish that contained scraps of some healthy meal that she only made for herself. Rinsing it off at the sink as Dennis approached her from behind.
Leaning over Dennis tried to kiss her cheek, but swiftly Sarah pulled away. âUgh!â
"What's wrong?" He knew, but he had to hear it.
"You have a bad penis?" she answered before leaving him alone in the kitchen as he bottled up the hurt as he always did. Tucking away the insult and then burying it deep.
Dennis's erectile dysfunction was just the cherry on his shit cake. He had seen several doctors. All prescribed this or that, but nothing worked. The lack of intimacy helped to further wreck havoc on his marriage.

8:00 A.M.
The entrance to the gaudy pink building dinged as the automatic doors opened.
"Morning Dennis" you smiled as he walked through the opened doors. He scrunched his face as if he didn't recognize you. You had only run into him once or twice since you started last week, so you weren't surprised he didn't remember.
"How did you..?" He looked a mix of tired and confused as he stood between the doorway.
Your head tilted and gave him a look, before tapping the name plate on your chest. Dennis followed your finger, your badge sat perched on your left breast. You shifted on your feet as his eyes lingered on your nameplate longer than you would've liked.
"Hadn't had your coffee yet I see" you joked. Quickly Dennis shifted his eyes away, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
"Yeah" Dennis chuckled dryly.
"Well, there is a fresh pot in the back last time I checked and a few donuts. I think Richard brought some in. If you hurry you might be able to snatch one up." You brushed off his awkwardness.
Maybe he isn't a morning person.
You could see Dennis on the verge of reply, but your attention diverted to the customer walking to your open lane. "How was your shopping today? Do you have a Betsy card?" You read off your script as they laid their items down. In the corner of your eye you watched him linger a bit, before continuing on toward the back to clock in.
đťđ§đđđâď¸đťđ§đđđâď¸đťđ§đđđâď¸
3:00 P.M.
Dennis grumbled with hands on hips as he looked at the disarray of the printer cartage wall. He had organized and reorganized the entire aisle at least five times today. He had only been gone five minutes only to return to chaos.
Quickly taking inventory with his clipboard he made notes of what he needed before storming off to the storage room. Through his irritation he found it hard to stay mad as thoughts of you clouded his head while he walked.
The tiny interaction from earlier in the day had haunted him. Trying in vein Dennis tried his hardest to focus on anything else, but the more he fought it the more you seemed to just pop up. He found his eyes locking with yours in-between various interactions with customers as you cut through his section to get to the break room. Each time you fluttered your fingers and smiled at him, leaving him flustered, returning the smile more stiff and awkward than the time before.
Opening the door to the storage room Dennis's heart skipped a beat when he found you bent over examining a shelf. You hadn't noticed him yet, too focused on the numbers on the paper you held in search of an item.
Swallowing thickly Dennis gingerly closed the door quietly in an effort not to spook you. His cock twitched slightly the longer he stood against the door. When you moaned in frustration after you placed an item back on the shelf a heat rippled through his face forcing him to bite back a groan of his own.
Staying quiet, he released the knob and started to move closer to you. Each step Dennis felt his heart beat through his ears as your hips swayed before him. Â
The narrow aisle forced Dennis to squeeze past you to reach his desired destination. Sucking in his bottom lip hungrily he pushed his hips forward as he slid behind, the slight graze made you jump up and yelp in surprise.
"Oh gosh Dennis you scared me!" You giggled slightly embarrassed. You placed a hand over your chest and the other on his shoulder.
"Sorry" looking sincerely at you as he held his hands up innocently. "Just trying to reach the ink." Hoping to take the focus away from his bottom half. The light graze was enough to awaken that piece of him that he had long sense gave up on.
"It's OK. It's super tight back here. Kind of hard not to knock into someone." You brushed of your shock and turn back to your task. With your back to him again adjusted himself awkwardly.
"Hey, wait!" Your call froze him in his tracks.
Dennis's back tensed and a panic shot through his core as he heard your steps approach. His work pants had become uncomfortably tighter all thanks to you.
Slyly he pressed his clip board over his buckle when you rounded his side. Internally Dennis prayed that you wouldn't notice the throbbing erection below his belt.
"Can you help me I canât find this." You were still focused on the paper you held, pushing it in his line of sight as you waited for him to respond. You were so close that your perfume tickled his nose and he wondered if you tasted just as sweet as you smelled.
Dennis's lips deepened into a frown when Richard, the floor manager, called your name from the now open storage door. Â
"We need you back on registers. Let me handle that for now." Richard demanded. Â
"Oh OK" turning away from him you handed the papers to Richard as he approached. "Thanks anyway Dennis" you patted Dennis's back before walking off. The sudden lack of touch sent an ache to his heart as he watched you disappear through the door.
đťđ§đđđâď¸đťđ§đđđâď¸đťđ§đđđâď¸
5:30 P.M.
The rain came down hard. You hadn't check the weather, when you left your apartment earlier in the day the sky was clear. Without an umbrella you made a mad dash to your car on the far end of the lot. Panting wildly, by the time your reached the car you were soaked through and through.
Slipping in you shrieked when the white flash crashed too close to your car. Fumbling with your keys before sticking them in the ignition you quickly found disappointment. The engine wouldn't turn over. It took several clicks of the turning key, before you stared baffled at the wheel. You had never had issues with your car before, so you were at a loss as to what could be the cause.
A bashing came loud on your side that caused you to scream in fright. Your heart beat rapidly, but when you looked over you found Dennis standing outside your door holding his umbrella.
"You OK?" He queried as you manually rolled your window down.
"It won't start. I think its the battery?" You weren't sure, but it sounded plausible.
"I would give you a jump, but it's a little dangerous. I can give you a ride though." He shouted over the heavy rain.
"Oh gosh, are you sure?"
"Yeah, come on."
Unbuckling your seat Dennis held the door open for you as you got out. You stuck close to his side, huddling under his umbrella as he led you to his car.
Opening the passenger door you thanked Dennis then slipped inside. He closed the door than jogged over to the driver's side, you giggled at his awkward stride and wondered if there was any part of him that wasn't weird.Â
đťđ§đ đđâď¸đťđ§đđđâď¸đťđ§đđđâď¸
Through his peripheral Dennis watched you. Your perfume seemed to waft through his tiny Toyota and he hoped that it would sink into the upholstery.
"It's over there, just turn right on the corner" you directed him. He nodded at your direction. Suddenly sad that the ride was coming to an end sooner than he would've liked.
"You can slow down here. Mine is the one in the middle."
Dennis slowed to park as you gathered your things and readied to disembark. "Um uh I know this is weird, but do you think I can.. use your restroom?" It came out bumbled and he internally kicked himself for that.
"Oh gosh yes of course." You touched his arm as you spoke, the patch of skin sending jolts all throughout.
Dennis exited the car first as you waited patiently for him to shelter you from the rain.
You thank him again as you both jogged to your front door. With your keys at the ready you unlocked the door and allowed him in after you. "First door on your right" you point down the hall as you slipped out of your work shoes.
đťđ§đđđâď¸đťđ§đđđâď¸đťđ§đđđâď¸
8:00 P.M.
Dennis didn't move.
"So how is married life?" You nervously inquired, noticing the gold band on his finger.
He didn't answer and the look on his face started to fill you with concern.
He is just an awkward guy. Don't over think it.
"Um would you like something to drink" you made a move to walk toward the kitchen, but Dennis blocked your advance. Stepping a foot back you started to panic. "So h-how do you like working at.."
Before you could finish Dennis sandwiched you between the door. Fruitlessly you tried to wiggle free as his hands began to roam your sides. Pushing at his chest he stood unmoved by your efforts as he leaned in close to your cheek, peppering you with kisses along your neck.
"Please Dennis.." You trembled out. Dennis wedged between your legs, the feel of his hard cock had you hiccuping as you pleaded with him to stop.
The muscles in your arm burned as you push, your hands flailing and slipping off his wet clothes. He inhaled you, humming with delight as his stubble burned against your neck.
Tears coated your eyes as he began feverishly unbuckling your belt. Your nails clawed into his flesh to no effect, tossing your hands away effortlessly as he continued to maneuver your pants down past your hips.
It was if the mild mannered retail clerk had become a completely different person and you couldn't understand why.
"I see the way you look at me" he growled into your ear.Â
"I was just being nice. Please Dennis!"
"So nice for me baby" he kissed your cheek as you turned your face away from him. Through the kerfuffle you hadn't realized you both had moved away from the door. Your side hit the arm of the living room's couch and you found yourself tumbling over with Dennis landing on top of you.
Dennis snatched one of your wrist when you tried to slap him. Threading his fingers with yours like a lover, slowly moving it above your head. Your other hand tried to force him to fall over to the floor, but he refused to budge.
His other arm disappeared between your bodies, the further it sunk down your stomach tensed. You were useless against his determination. There was no out from under him.
Dennis swallowed your sobs, when his hand came dangerously close to your clit. Hot beads of tears streamed your face when he grazed your mound. The tickle of his finger tips meticulously played with your folds, in an attempt to move away his fingers parted your lips. Sucking and kissing on your neck, you felt a fire begin to pool at his hand.
"You don't want to do this please" you sniffed, but he was too far gone. A long moan fell from your lips when his fingers finally plunged into you.
Dennis's digits curled and pumped, the friction feeding an unwanted need in your core. When you tried to protest again he devoured your mouth greedily.
"I'm gonna fill you up...Have you stuffed full of my cum." Dennis moaned over your mouth.
Your toes started to curl as your heat grew. You wanted him to stop, but a need weakened your resolve.
"That's it baby, I feel you want me too."Â
"Fuck" you panted out as you struggled to fight against him and yourself. Your juices coated him thoroughly, you bit back shame as he praised you for it. Mindlessly you gripped his shoulder as your mounded tightened around him. Panting wildly you came on his fingers.
"That's it baby." He praised, slipping his fingers free which caused you to whimper shamefully. Your legs felt like jelly as you laid on the couch. Dennis hadn't moved, only lifting his hips to unfastened his belt.
"No! No no please" you whined, pushing backwards on the couch cushion. Dennis snaked an arm behind your back, locking you in place as you pulled at his work shirt to get him off you.
The head of his cock swirled around your juices, pressing hard against your folds to blindly find your opening. "So wet just for me baby."
No matter which way your hips move the determined man found your slick folds. Wedged between your legs Dennis shuttered with delight as he pressed into you. His slow pressure stretched you as you continued to sob.
"So tight for me" he hummed. You hissed the deeper he sunk into you. Breathing heavily through the tightness while his hips rolled into you. The cheap couch groaned at the increase of activity. Dennis palmed your ass, gripping too tight as he fucked you into the couch.
His desperate kisses all over you felt like trails of fire. Your legs began to wrap and tighten around him as he thrusted relentlessly.Â
"Dennis.." You panted out as your need took over.
"Do you want to come for me?" he sounded as needy as you did.
"I haven't come in so long... Do you think you can handle it baby?" He taunted.
"Please" you say weakly.
"That's it I knew you needed me"
"Please Dennis." You begged as you dissolved into pleasure.
You were his new life he was sure of it. His cure and he was never letting you go.

(well wild hongjoong is kinda hot tho!!) đ
It's Raining - Kim Hongjoong
đ This is: Requested
taglist: @yunhobabygurl @atiny-chocolate-chip @minhyukmyluv @yunhoandonly
"Today's just a normal day. Like any other day, why bitch about it?"
His words slapped you across the face, and instead of your cheek hurting, it was your heart that's hurting.
Hongjoong continued to blankly blink his eyes, one hand holding out his headset for you.
"If you want to go celebrate, do it. Leave me out of it. Can't you see I have to finish it?" He says, slyly snickering as he leans his back on the black swivel chair, slightly moving himself from left to right. "You only care about days like that, but I don't think you know how I'm rushing to get this done and submit this. I have deadlines too, you know."
Maybe..Hongjoong is right. Today is just a normal day, like he says.
Although you are hurting as though it is a normal day for everyone, it isn't for the two of you.
Today marks your second anniversary together.
You never imagined this day would come, your second anniversary together. But looking back, you knew you and Hongjoong have come across a lot of obstacles in your relationship. From his packed schedules to sleepless nights waiting for him to come home to hearing his fans throw insults your way, it was indeed a long and hard road.
But today is like a normal day like he says.
Slowly, you nodded your head. Fighting back the hot tears that dared to slip down your eyes but failing miserably.
"Don't you dare cry on me-"
"You know you're right" you begin to say, finally lifting your head up to face him and forcing yourself to smile at least. "and uh, I hope everything works out with what you're doing." You nodded, slowly walking backwards before finally opening the door and heading out.
You gulped hard. There were a lot of things you wanted to tell him but couldn't. Apart from that, why bother tell them when he wouldn't care at all?
Heaving a deep sigh, you wiped the tear stains away from your cheeks before stomping your feet to the nearest bar. If Hongjoong could push you away, you too could have fun with another man.
Jogging up the narrow staircase before opening the red door, the scent of alcohol, smoke and cheap perfume flared your nostrils. Walking across the ocean of people, you made your way to the booth, a bartender playfully winking at you as you sat on the high stool.
"Anything I can get for you, dollface?"
"Are you on the menu?" you asked in a flirtatious tone, batting your eyelashes at him before flashing him a sweet smile. "I'll have anything hard"
"If you want anything hard then I'll have to bring you with me to the restroom"
Without thinking, you stood on the foot rest of the high stool and propped yourself to lean forward, your lips meeting a stranger's lips.
His lips were soft and this bartender could kiss, not a bad one. You felt him bit your lower lip gently before pushing tongue inside your mouth, exchanging sweet salivas and deep kisses.
And then, everything happened so fast. You were pulled away and the bartender in front of you is already on the floor with his nose broken and bleeding. Turning around, you were greeted with a very angry Hongjoong standing right before you.
"Why don't I take you home with me?" He asks in a dark tone, grinning to himself before holding onto your wrist and dragging you outside of the bar.
"Go back to the studio, joong." You said, following him down back the narrow staircase.
"I'm afraid I can't. I received a note saying that my deadlines have been extended. Isn't that what you want to hear?" He says, opening the passenger's door for you. "Get in" and it came out like a command. As you didn't want to cause a scene, you got inside the car before Hongjoong slams the door behind you, going over to the driver's seat, starting the engine before driving off.
"How was the kiss?" Hongjoong asks out of nowhere. Rolling your eyes, you crossed your arms over your chest and looked out the window.
"I asked you a question, baby. Don't give me an an attitude." He warns you, quickly casting a glance over your way. "How was the kiss?" He asks again.
"...it was good" you murmured. Hongjoong lets out a chuckle as he hears your answer.
"Did he use his tongue?"
"...yes"
"Did the kiss turn you on?"
Slowly you shook your head. Because all the while you were kissing the bartender, you wished it was Hongjoong kissing you.
"Why not?" Hongjoong asks, stirring the wheel to the left. You wanted to say the real reason, but at the same time, you felt ashamed.
"Are you really not going to answer me?" Hongjoong asks as he raises his tone while slamming his hands on the stirring wheel which caused you to jump a bit.
"Because...." you started to say but couldn't finish as he parked the car in front of the apartment building you two shared.
"Nevermind. I don't want to hear it anymore, you heartless cheater."
You stared at his back profile with your mouth slightly hanging open. His words were hurting you once more and you could feel your tears clouding your vision again. At the exact same time, a light shower rain came falling down from the skies. Idly, you followed behind him towards your place, shoving you to get inside first before he could, turning to lock the doors behind him.
"Why are you crying again?" He asks, staring at you as the tears finally fall down from your eyes. "What I said is true, right? Kissing another guy while you're in a relaionship with me is what cheater's do. Am I wrong?" He asks tauntingly, chuckling darkly.
You sat on the foot of the bed with your head down, silently crying to yourself. Hongjoong lets out a sigh before putting his hands under your chin, lifting your head up to meet his. And upon seeing those crimson red eyes and tear stains, he felt his heart crack at the sight of you crying because of him.
"I won't be kissing you tonight" He whispers enough for you to catch his words, cupping your cheeks in his hands as he wipes the tears away before kneeling down in front you before parting your legs together.
"Hongjoong..."
"Don't talk" he says, slowly stretching his hands out, he slides his hands on the outer area of your thighs, reaching out to the waist bands of your underwear before pulling it down.
Parting your legs more widely, he lifts up your skirt and exposes to himself your cunt.
"My my" he says, rubbing your thighs with his hands. "What do we have here" Hongjoong's eyes never leave the enticing silkiness of your crotch. Leaning forward, he takes a sniff before using the tip of his nose to follow the trail of your cleft.
Extending his hand out more, he lightly taps his middle and index finger on your lips. "Lick it" he whispers, "taste it" he says as he slides his fingers between your lips. Obediently, you closed your lips around his fingers, swirling and tasting his fingers. Slowly he pulls his fingers out from your lips before bringing his fingers into his mouth.
Hongjoong dives between your legs, sticking his tongue out to lick your pussy lips. Tongue sliding easily to your hole, right hand massaging your clit while his left hand extends out to fondle your breast.
He moves his tongue in small circles around your clit, continuing to lick and suck your pussy as your pleasure blinds you into an intense level. His left hand parted with your clothed breast and went down inside you, finger fucking you in the process.
"Hongjoong!" You gasped aloud. But Hongjoong doesn't pay any attention to you, pushing one finger inside of you and starts to slide his finger in and out of you. Dragging his tongue up to your clit, he proceeds to suck your juices while plunging his well practiced fingers in you. Tongue swirling around inside before moving to a spot he knew you love so much. Hongjoong spent a while on that spot, bringing you to the brink a couple of times before plunging his fingers deeply into you. Loud and sensual moans escapes your lips, arching your hips and forward as Hongjoong continues to do you with his tongue. Squirming above him, you let out a shaky breath as your pussy starts to contract around his finger, squeezing his finger before letting out a loud moan as you squirt all over his face.
You looked down at Hongjoong and already see him looking up at you. Eyes full of lust and hunger.
Hongjoong got up from his knees and proceeded to unbuckle his belt and remove his pants and boxers right infront of you, not removing it from his ankles. Your eyes glittering at the sight of his erect cock.
His cock was large and hard, head very pink and looked very much like it could always fill you up. Slowly you leaned in, taking a hold of the base of his cock before licking the tip teasingly while looking up at him. Hongjoong enjoyed the view - you taking your sweet time with his cock. However, he was also an impatient man.
"Don't make me wait, sweetheart. Put that mouth into good use."
Encasing your lips around his cock before deliciously devouring it in your lips, bobbing your head up and down as you took him whole.
"I bet the guy from the bar enjoyed having your lips on his" Hongjoong remarks, pushing away your hair that hovered on your face. "Did he kiss you good?"
You shook your head to answer his question and you heard Hongjoong letting out a groan, thrusting his cock deeper into your mouth. "My darling's mouth is so warm, this is why my cock gets excited whenever he sees you" He says, petting your head before pulling you away.
Hongjoong slowly laid you down on the bed, hovering on your top and without any warning, slipped himself inside your entrance, placing one of her legs on top of his shoulders to penetrate deeply inside you.
"H-Hongjoong!"
"Feel good there?" Hongjoong chuckles like a maniac, one hand holding onto your hips tightly while the other rubbed on your legs propped on his shoulder sensually up and down. "You should know, you're mine." He says, picking up his pace as he pounds himself deeper. "I bet the guy's dick is small and can't fuck you like I do"
Feeling your walls squeezing his cock, Hongjoong lets out a shaky breath. "You're close now, aren't you?" He asks, looking down at you as you nodded your head.
"Let's come together then" He says, wrapping your other leg around his waist as he drills himself into your pulsating heat before his body jerks, releasing his load of cum inside you, feeling your cum coating his.
Hongjoong knew his words hurted you earlier, being the reason why you were crying as well. And before he could clean you up, he slowly laid down on your top and hugged you tightly in his arms.
"I'm sorry about today." He says, nuzzling his nose on the crook of your neck as he inhales your scent. "Can I make it up to you tomorrow?" He asks.
Of course you said yes.

The Fight
Requested
Anonymous said: Could you do an imagine where Sam and the reader have like a really big fight or something like that but it ends in pure fluff?? Please! I just need more Sam content! ⤠thnx
âI canât even look at you right now!â You shout across the room. Samâs face is pink with anger, heâs shaking, with a small growl starting in his chest.
âSam just go away!â You run up the stairs, slamming the bedroom door behind you and fling yourself on the bed, tears streaming down your face, your breathing heavy as you sob into the pillows.
You hear a door slam downstairs, then the definite sound of Samâs wolf growling as he runs towards the tree line. You would recognise that sound anywhere, although normally it would be waiting for him to come home after patrol. This time, you werenât sure if he would come home, but right now you didnât care.
Wrapping yourself in a blanket, you curl up on your side of the bed, fully dressed. Suddenly feeling tired from the fight, eventually you allow the exhaustion to kick in as you fall straight asleep.
A week later
âYouâve got to come see him Y/N he looks a messâ Paul pleads through the door.
âNope! He can come to me, Iâm not apologising.â You respond, looking at yourself in the mirror, bags under your eyes, skin looking flat and lifeless. Being away from Sam was definitely having an effect, but you werenât going to admit to Paul that you couldnât sleep without Sam, that you were struggling to eat, or have any kind of fun.
âThatâs the problem Y/N. He just wonât get up. Heâs not sleeping, not eating. I donât even know how long itâs been since he cracked a smile. Pleaaaase!â Paul pleads again.
âIâm not coming Paul. I need time.â You say softly.
âOk. Just let us know if we can do anything to help you two. We need our pack leader back. Urgently.â
You hear his steps away from the house and the door slam to his truck. You sigh deeply, trudging back upstairs to throw yourself on the bed again.
The following week
After being sent home Monday morning for exploding at a customer, you realised you needed to get your life back on track. You needed to shower. Properly. You needed to eat. Properly. But to do all of that you needed one thing.
You needed Sam.
Grabbing your phone, you type a message out to Paul.
- Is Sam at yours?
- Yup. On the sofa. Not moved all day.
- I'll be over in 30 minutes.
- YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
You smile at Paul's reaction. As much as you wanted Sam to be the one to come to you, the imprint link had left you both sad and exhausted, and you couldn't continue the fight any longer. You needed him. You knew from the fights you'd seen from Kim and Jared that the pack felt everything far deeper than their imprints. You didn't want to punish him any longer.
Jumping in the shower you start mentally preparing your speech for when you see Sam. I don't want to feel second best to the pack. I understand what the pack means to you but I need to feel important too.
You grab whatever bits of make up you can find and make your best attempt to cover up the bags which have formed under your eyes. Pulling on a pair of jeans and a loose fitting top, you brush through your hair and take a final look in the mirror. It'll do.
Before you even get to knock on Paul's front door, it swings open to show Paul and Jared, both looking tired but excited to see you.
"Y/N!" Jared shouts, running towards you to give you a hug. He pulls back and keeps a hand on either arm, looking you in the eyes. "Please don't feel pressured if this isn't what you want yet. I know Paul kept ringing...and Sam is in a pretty bad way. But we want you to be happy too."
You smile sadly at him. "I need this too Jared, don't worry. I'm doing this for me."
Paul gives you a thumbs up from behind Jared before coming to hug you himself. He leaves an army draped around your shoulders as you both walk up the steps.
"He's still on the sofa...we will leave you two alone. We're going out on a quick patrol!" With that he drops a quick kiss on your cheek and jogs towards the treeline with Jared in tow.
You look up at the house and take a deep breath, pulling open the door and stepping inside the house.
What hits you first is the smell. Samâs smell. A smell thatâs been a comfort to you every night since you met. A smell that you have desperately missed, but has immediately put your mind at ease now it has filled your senses again.
Walking through the house towards the back room, you walk hesitantly towards the sound of the TV. As you reach the doorway, he stands up from the sofa and turns to look at you. His face is etched with sadness, tears pricking at the corners of his eyes, dark bags underneath them from lack of sleep, hair messy and dishevelled. âY/N...â he whispers, his eyes wide with shock, hands desperate to reach out to you but hesitant in case it makes you leave.
You smile at the sound of his voice. âIâve missed you baby.â
The corners of his mouth twitch at the word baby, and he rushes towards you, wrapping you up in his arms. He breathes in the scent of your hair, his arms wandering your body before they make their way to your face, delicately cupping your cheeks before hesitating again. He looks deeply into your eyes, searching for approval, searching for confirmation that things will be ok.
You step back. His hopeful expression looks deflated, then confused as you take his hand and lead him back to the sofa. âWe need to talk first.â He nods in understanding.
You both sit down, side by side, and you take his hand back in yours, stroking it softly with your fingers. He looks up at you with sad eyes, desperately trying to read your expression.
âI know how important the pack is, not just to you but to the reservation. I understand the importance. But I need to feel important to you too. My life is overwhelmed with the pack, with this life, and I just feel like Iâm a passenger just going along for the ride. I feel like I have no control. Like I have no purpose. Iâm just âSamâs imprintâ...is that all I am?â Feeling confident in your rehearsed lines you look at Sam, whoâs eyebrows are burrowed as he stares at the ground.
âYou know you are so much more than that Y/N.â He says quietly.
âI donât though Sam. You never tell me. You never talk about things. I only know because of the imprint bond.â You move away from him slightly, letting go of his hands, frustration evident in your voice.
âYou...â he starts, then looks at the ground again
âI donât know how much more I can take if you canât tell me what you are feeling Sam. Please.â You beg, as you reach out to him again.
He takes your hand in his and turns to face you, looking down into your eyes. His expression is warm, immediately comforting, and you have to force yourself to not be sucked back in to his loving embrace.
âYou. Are the love of my life. No one elseâs love will ever come close to what I feel for you. But that scares me. It scares me because I never feel good enough, I never feel like I can live up to be the man that you deserve. The only thing I can do is to keep you safe. And to keep you safe I need to make my pack strong, I need them to be impossible to defeat. Iâm so so sorry that in my eagerness to make the pack strong that you felt unimportant. But Iâm making the pack what it is because you are so important, the most important person in the whole world. I love you Y/N and I promise to never let you feel second best ever again...if you will have me that is.â He takes a deep breath, his confidence wavering because you havenât spoken.
âY/N...?â
A tear slips from the corner of your eye before you reach over and wrap your arms around his neck, taking him by surprise so he falls backwards onto the couch.
You donât know how long you stay like that, with his arms wrapped around you, lips pressed to the top of your head as your face is buried into his neck, taking in the comfort of his scent.
Itâs only when you hear an awkward cough that you realise anyone is there.
âTake it the two of you have made up?â Paul jokes, as Sam growls at him for interrupting.
You smile up at him, placing your hand on his chest to calm him.
âItâs ok, Iâm not going anywhere.â He returns your smile before pressing a kiss to your lips whilst Paul and Jared make gagging noises in the background.
âUgh itâs like mum and dad kissing!â Jared complains.
âNo one asked you to stand there. Go back on patrol, the two of you are pulling a double for interrupting.â Sam orders, and they quickly comply, complaining as they leave the room.
He turns his attention back to you, stroking your cheek with his thumb whilst looking deeply into your eyes.
âI love you Sam.â
âI love you too Y/N.â

Show Me How
Summary - You run away with Warren Lipka after getting proposed to by your long time boyfriend
Pairing - Warren Lipka x Fem!reader
A/N - Since i have a lot more Warren lovers than i thought following me, i figured i should do a fluff thing to keep you guys fed. No warnings for this one, just fluff :) Also, i feel like we've all imagined running away with our comfort characters one time or another so you cant lie to me and say this isn't romantic.
- - -
Rain hit the roof loudly, making a soft ambiance outside the cracked window of Warrenâs apartment. Laying in his bed, his hands travel my warm skin, his lips pressing butterfly kisses all down my neck and collarbone.
âYouâre so beautiful, Y/n,â he compliments, his lips grazing my skin. I hum softly in response, my fingers threading through his messy hair.
The past few weeks I had been seeing Warren in secret. I had to keep it a secret due to the fact Iâm in a serious relationship with another guy. Warren made me feel alive in all the right ways. He made me feel like I had been missing so much the past year and a half Iâve been dating Jack.
Of course I felt bad about cheating. It was always in the back of my mind whenever I was with Jack. But Warren was also always in my mind. I found it hard to stop thinking about him anymore.
Warren lays back on the bed, pulling me into his arms. âYou have to break up with him,â he says, throwing me off guard. Hm?â I hum in response, looking up at him. âJack. You have to break up with him,â Warren clarifies.
I sigh, my eyes falling off of his. âI know,â I admit shyly, my finger drawing small circles on his chest. âIâll do it tonight,â
-
Sitting nervously on the couch of Jackâs apartment, waiting for him to come home from work.
He finally enters the apartment, a smile spreading on his lips when he sees me. âHi, baby,â he greets, running his fingers through his hair as he walks up to me. âWe need to⌠to talk,â I say nervously, standing from the couch.
âYeah, we do,â Jack agrees but in a tone that sounded more excited than it shouldâve been. I have a feeling we arenât on the same page here.
âY/n, weâve been dating for almost two tears now and I think itâs time to go to the next level,â Jack says. We had already moved in together a few months back. That means the next level would be something I canât even bring myself to say.
My heart stops when he gets down on one knee. He pulls a ring out of his pocket and I feel my eyes widen. âY/n, will you marry me?â he asks.
My first thought was no. But thatâs too harsh. I mean, Jack is a nice guy. He deserves more than a short and rude ânoâ as an answer. And fuck, that ring looks too expensive to just deny. This was too soon and weâre too young.
What I want is Warren. No matter how mean or cold that may sound. If I was going to spend the rest of my life with someone, itâd be him. Warren gives me adventure. Heâs so wild and spontaneous all the time.
You never know what youâre getting yourself into when youâre with him.
He cares so much about me and it's just so fun being with him. He doesnât allow a boring and monotonous life. With Warren, I feel like a teenager rebelling against my mother again.
âCan I think about it?â I answer after a suspenseful silence. Jack nods, standing from his knee. âTake as much time as youâd like,â he says, kissing my cheek before walking out of the room and heading down the hallway. I hear the shower turn on and use this as my opportunity to pack up my things. Once everything I need was in a simple backpack, I write a note and put it on the counter.
âIâm sorry but this won't work. You deserve someone better than me. Sincerely, Y/nâ
Sneaking out of the apartment, I jog downstairs and out into the dark of the night. It was still raining but it had calmed down to a light drizzle. Walking down the sidewalk, my mind races as I try to think about my next move.
I had just left my almost two-year-long boyfriend over some guy Iâve been seeing for not even a month.
Arriving at Warrenâs apartment building, I use a key he had given me to get inside of the lobby. I get into the elevator and click on his floor. My heart beats in my ears as I walk down the hallway and stop in front of his door.
With a deep breath, I knock three times.
The door opens, Warrenâs eyes meeting mine. I can tell he notices the red that lines my eyes when his brows furrow. âY/n. What is it? Whatâs wrong?â he asks right away, confusion riddling his face as he stands in the doorway.
âLetâs run away together,â I say, fully aware of how bizarre my words sounded. âWhat?â is all he says in response. âJack proposed and I said Iâd think about it. But itâs not what I want, Warren. Iâm twenty-five, I need to be free for longer,â I respond, a pleading look on my face.
âAnd you just left him?â
âI left a note,â I shrug, hoping heâll agree. He stays silent for a moment, a perplexed look in his dark eyes. âCome on, Warren. I came here because youâre the king of spontaneous ideas. Letâs run away to New York and start over. Me and you,â
âWhere would we even stay?â he asks.
âI have more money saved than I thought,â I tell him with a weak smile. His face softens and he eventually nods. âGive me five minutes,â he says, leaning in and kissing me quickly before disappearing back into his apartment.
He comes back with a bag and the keys to his car. âLetâs go,â he grins.
We walk down to his car, getting in and pausing for a second. I turn to face him, my lips pressed together nervously. âYou sure you wanna do this?â Warren asks, wanting to make sure this wouldnât be a regret of mine.
I just nod, smiling softly as our eyes stay locked. He leans over the center console, his hand resting on my cheek as he kisses me gently. I gladly kiss back, matching his slow and passionate tempo.
His hand runs down my jawline as he pulls back from me, his eyes studying my face. âWhere to, darling?â he asks. I chuckle softly, feeling heat rush up to my cheeks at the pet name.
âNew York City,â

Encaptured (Jungkook)
Genre: FluffÂ
Note: A little fuckboy Jungkook for you all! Iâm currently working on a social media au and I might just post the profiles so I can give you guys a sneak peek and to also motivate myself to work on it more! Let me know what you guys think! I also didnât know how to end this so I apologize if itâs a crappy ending.Â
. . . . . . .Â
On Thursdays, the literary class met in the college library, and that was when Jungkook always had you look over his essays. Not only did he use that time to get his papers edited, but he also took this time to prod you about your weekend plans.
"So, are you going to accept my offer to take you to the movies this weekend?" Jungkook asked, resting his chin on his palm.
You glanced up from his essay. "Hm, not this week. I think I'm all booked." With a smirk directed towards him, you continued marking his paper.
"You said that last week." He mumbled with a playful pout.
"And last week, when I rejected you, you ended up taking that girl from your math class." You stated with a challenging stare.
Tongue in cheek, Jungkook chuckled, "Well, I couldn't let those tickets go to waste! I thought for sure you would have agreed." He continued trying to justify his playboy ways.
You scoffed and slid his paper over to him; red pen marks were scattered all over it. You thought that the edits you made to his essay would distract him from the current topic, but he pushed the assignment to the side.
"Y/n, when will you let me take you on a date?" Jungkook leaned in ever so slightly and smiled sweetly.
Your heart rate increased. His whole appearance changed with that one smile, and it was hard for you to hide the fact that it made you feel some way. Maybe it was time to give him a chance, and if it didn't work out, then he would finally stop bugging you.
"Okay." You finally answered after thinking it through. That one word took Jungkook by surprise.
"Okay? Are you saying, yes?"
Without making eye contact, you nodded and closed your notebook with a gentle smile.
"I'll pick you up at seven." Jungkook bit his lip to hide his smile and watched you leave the library.
. . . .Â
The sun was setting, and seven o clock was right around the corner. You gave yourself one last look in the mirror that hung by the door and nodded in approval of your outfit. You tried to remember the last time you got all dressed up for a date, and as you tried to place a moment, there was a knock at the door.Â
As you reached for the door, you hesitated. What if this was a one-time thing? What if he never spoke to you after tonight? Just because you turned his offers for a date down multiple times, it wasn't as if you didn't like Jungkook. You appreciated his presence in your boring literary class; you appreciated his jokes and stories. What if all he wanted was to add you to the list of girls he won over with his charms?Â
Your thoughts were interrupted again by a knock, but this time it was a lot softer. You took a deep breath and twisted the doorknob. Whatever his intentions were, you decided to accept this date, so you had to deal with the consequences.Â
Jungkook stood in the doorway with his hands buried in his pockets. His head was hung low as if he was half expecting you not to answer, but when you opened the door wider, he looked up.Â
You forgot to breathe upon seeing him. Instead of the cliche leather jacket he always wore, he wore a grey flannel over a white shirt. It wasn't THAT different from what he always wore but seeing him wear light-colored clothing suits him well. His demeanor was different, as well. A timid smile replaced the cocky smirk he always had on his face.Â
"Are you ready?" His voice came out lighter than usual; it took you a moment to remember this was Jungkook and not someone else.Â
"Yeah, let me just grab my bad." You left him by the door as you dashed back to your room to grab your purse.Â
. . . .Â
It was the little things that Jungkook did that made you weak in the knees. As the two of you walked to the theater, Jungkook rested his hand on the small of your back. He maneuvered you to the other side of him; it wasn't until his warmth left that you realized he was making sure you were closest to the buildings and away from the busy street.
Your eyes fixated on him, and it felt like the world was in slow motion, and you saw Junkook in a new light. You wanted nothing more, but to have this moment last forever. Forever didn't come because he glanced at you with that beautiful smile of his.
"Would you be upset if I told you I don't want to go to the movies anymore?"
The world resumed at its original speed, and your excitement disappeared.
"Oh? Did you want to take a rain check or something?" You tried not to sound too disappointed.
"No, no. I just don't think I can handle sitting next to you for two and a half hours and not talk to you."
You sighed in relief, which made Jungkook chuckle.
"I don't know what you've been told or what you heard about me, but I'm not cruel.
You raised your eyebrow at him and smirked. "I don't know, I've heard some pretty interesting things about you, Jungkook."
You gave him one last teasing look before walking ahead of him. Jungkook tsked before jogging to catch up to you.
"So, are you going to tell me what you heard so I can prove those accusations wrong?"
Together you waded through the crowded street, careful not to lost one another. If he took your hand, would you pull away or let him have that small victory?
"You haven't said what we're going to do now that we're not going to the movies."
His hand grazed yours. "You're changing the topic."
Seconds later, his hand rested on your shoulder to guide you towards the entrance of an arcade. It was full of other couples, groups of friends, and people wanting to have fun. The atmosphere brought a smile to your face. You didn't even realize Jungkook had left until he returned with a bag full of tokens.
"I'll let you choose the first game."
Dramatically, you rested your hand on your heart. "What a gentleman."
Jungkook threw his head back in defeat. "Whoever told you that I wasn't a gentleman needs to stop feeding you lies."
"I'm sorry to tell you this, but you don't really have the best reputation." You explained as you made your way over to the basketball game.
You glanced back at him to make sure he was following and found him chewing on his lip. Your statement bothered him. The two of you exchanged no other words until he was standing next to you.
"Is that why you always rejected me?" His eyes locked with yours, and you didn't dare look away.
Rather than lying, you nodded. "Yeah."
Jungkook was the one to break eye contact; it was clear he was upset. He fished for a token and inserted it into the machine to start the game.
As you watched him, you inhaled deeply and thought about everything. You didn't want to be the reason the date ended in ruins. You were honest about why you declined his offers, but now that you were here with him, you kept thinking how different things could have been if you had just agreed to date him the first time he asked.
Without thinking further, when Jungkook reached for another ball, you took it from him and aimed for the moving hoop.
"You can't blame me for being scared."
Jungkook opened his mouth to say something but stopped as he watched you throw the ball straight into the hoop. Another ball rolled towards you, but Jungkook grabbed it before you could.
"I wasn't blaming you. I was blaming myself." He missed the hoop and ticked his head to the side, slightly annoyed that he didn't score, but as the game ended, he had one of the highest scores.
Together you moved in the direction of another game.
"Why are you blaming yourself?"
He didn't say anything, and you were afraid he didn't hear you due to the increasing volume of everyone around you.
"Because I got careless with relationships and dating, and now that I want something serious, my reputation is ruining my chances.
The corners of your mouth twitched into a tiny smile. "It's your turn to pick a game."
You weren't ignoring what he had said; you just wanted to think about it for a moment longer.
The two of you wandered around the arcade and tried not to lose each other with the growing amount of people entering the building. Jungkook stopped in front of a photo booth and let out a small laugh.
"It isn't a game, but it seems like this is the only thing unoccupied."Â
"I think it'll be fun!" You linked his arm with yours and entered the small booth.Â
Jungkook sat silently next to you as you messed around with the photo settings. As you sat back, your shoulder brushed against his, and it made it obvious how close the two of you were. You couldn't help but think back to his previous comment about wanting to be in a serious relationship. Â Did he mean that he wanted to try and be in a serious relationship with you? You'd be lying if you said you didn't have feelings for him. The truth was, you had liked him all along, but you let the rumors about him cloud your judgment of his character.Â
The beeping of the timer caused you to snap out of your thoughts.Â
"Are you ready?" You glanced over at Jungkook, and to your surprise, he was already staring at you. The flash went off, signaling that the first picture was taken. Then the timer reset.Â
"Your chances aren't completely ruined, by the way."Â
The two of you looked away and to the camera, where you opted for a funny face. The camera went off.Â
"What do you mean?" Jungkook turned to you again.Â
"If you were this version of yourself all the time, you wouldn't have any trouble getting into a serious relationship, and any girl would be happy to be with you."Â Â
You stuck your tongue out at him as the camera snapped another picture.Â
"I don't want just any girl though--" He faced forward and held up a peace sign. "--I want you."Â
Your expression changed in an instant, and it was captured as the shutter sounded. "Jungkook."Â
He hesitated but looked your way as the last seconds of the timer counted down. You took his face into your hands and pressed your lips to his. The moment captured forever as the final flash of the camera washed over the two of you.Â

The rain has let up; going from a solid shower, to a light mist. Youâre drenched to the bone, with water dripping off your hair, and soaking through your shoes. The only parts of you that are spared are your parka, which is mostly waterproof, aside from a few holes. As far as you can see, the streets are empty. The lateness of the hour doesn't help. If there is anyoneâor anythingâout at this hour, theyâre in hiding. Something you have the feeling you should be doing.
There's one single apartment with its lights on. It's quite a few floors up- maybe ten or so. And the curtains are closed. If there are any figures behind it, you can't tell. With as dark as it is, you doubt they'd be able to see you all the way down here.
Still, you worry. You don't want anything sneaking up on you.
âSense anything?â asks James.
You shake your head. âNothing. Not even residuals.â Which is a bit comforting. Though you're more worried about human counterparts. Curses are predictable; people are not.
"Keep looking," he says, "I know we're not alone."
You have to jog to catch up with him. âWhat's your plan, anyway?â You ask.
âWe're going to kill some curses.â He says. âWhat did you expect?â
Anything but tramping around Tokyo at nightâŚ
âI expected to be exorcizing curses right now.â You say.
âDon't be a smartass,â he says, âthey're probably hiding. Anyone with a bit of reason wouldn't be out in the open right now.â
You stop, turning to him. âLike we are. Right now.â
âYes.â He says. âI was thinking weâd check around the first Tokyo colony barrier. If there's going to be anything, itâll likely be around there.â
Personally, you think anyone with a bit of sense would avoid the place. But maybe that's just you.
You smell it before you see it. Sunscreen. And burning rubber; like someone has lit a pile of tires on fire. The foul scent makes your nostrils burn. The hairs on the back of your neck stand on end, and your heart rate picks up ever so slightly. A cursed spirit. It's different from the cursed energy of a human.
"One's nearby," you say. Can't be further than a block. It's on your left; the air gets staticy whenever you turn your head that direction.
"How close?" He asks.
"Maybe a block." You say. "Up ahead on the left. Can't tell how strong it is, though."
Can't be too strong. If it's alone, the two of you should make quick work of it. Making sure the two of you don't get overwhelmed is your main concern. A handful of curses aren't bad when you're fighting one at a time, it's when they appear in numbers that they become an issue.
"There it is," you say, ducking to hide in a doorway. It hasn't noticed you. Yet.
At first glance, it's not particularly threatening. The cursed energy that radiates off of it isn't too strong, and it doesn't appear to be too intelligent. At the very least, it's not capable of speech. It's vaguely humanoidâat least compared to some of the other curses you've seenâbut doesn't appear to be a mutated human. Stringy black hair hangs over its face, which is gaunt, and boney. Greying skin hangs loose off it's bones. Two sunken eyes glare up at you as it hunches over a corpse, of which is too mangled to make out what it once was, but it's too big to be a dog.
âWhat's it look like?â He asks. âCan you tell what grade it is?â
âNot a clue.â You say.
It's true height isn't shown until it stands on its hind legs, towering well over your head. A clawed hand reaches for you, of which you knock away with the flat of your blade.
Read it's attacks. Where is it going to move next?
It's going right.
You take a step forward, then to the side, before breaking out into a sprint. Once youâre behind it, you bring your blade to it's back, slicing through a large chunk of its body, but not severing it. Foul smelling blood splatters back at you, coating your blade, and part of your face.
It's not enough to exorcize it. You need to hit it again.
You slip as both your feet meet the wet ground and your body stops, but the rest of you doesn't. Your bag falls down your shoulder, which you haphazardly sling back across your back, swinging your other arm out so as to not fall on your blade.
âDon't slow down,â James says, âyou lose a lot of power when youâre stationary.â
âI know that!â
You thrust your blade out, jerking it upwards, catching the curse across the arm and severing it at the bicep.
It's pretty sturdy, youâll give it that. Though it's not too destructive in nature, it is tough, so youâd put it somewhere between a semi-grade two and three.
"Watch your footing," he says, "keep a low center of-"
"You're not helping!"
âThen try to draw from the air around you,â he says. âYour cursed energy-â
âI'm trying!â
There's hardly anything to take. Such an action takes an immense effort to doâlet alone on purpose. The air is dry of usable cursed energy. Maybe if he got up off his ass and used his!
For now, you'll settle on drawing from your own reserve.
In your free hand, gathering in strength, is cursed energy compressed to it's very limit.
With what you've gathered in your palm, you thrust your hand outwards, sending a beam right through the heart of the creature. Through its chest you see straight moonlight. A clean hit. The curse doesn't even have the chance to take another step before it drops.
You feel jittery. Like you've just swallowed a lightning bolt. Like electricity should be crackling from your fingertips. Whether it's adrenaline, or something else entirely, you can't tell. The only thing you can compare it to is a runners high: a sudden rush of endorphins, followed by a state of calmness. Your muscles relax, but you can feel your heartbeat between your ears.
Is this what the others feel?
âDid I do it?â You ask between heavy breaths. It takes another moment for your pulse to settle down.
âNo, you didn't. We need to find another,â he says. âAlso what the fuck was that?!â
He watches as your head tilts up. You smell something else. Another cursed spirit. This one is further awayâby quite a bit. Hard to tell which direction it's in, but getting back to the main road should give you more to go off of. It's far more openâeasier to see anything coming at you.
As you exit onto the main street, you find it empty. No surprise there. Unless someone was right by you, the noise shouldn't have attracted much attention.
At some point in time, you find yourself in what looks to have been a gift shop. One of the windows has been shattered. It looks to have had a rock thrown through it. Glass crunches underfoot as you step through the window.
It's far too dark to see on your own, you have to use the light from your phone. Racks of clothes, and various other trinkets line the walls. Nothing appears to be stolen, but the lights are out, and a thin layer of dust covers everything.
With a harsh click, the lights switch on. James has found a lightswitch.
âWhat are you looking for?â You ask.
He shrugs. âSupplies. Food, ân stuff.â
âWe have that back at Jujutsu Tech,â you say, âwe don't need to scavenge around anymore.â At this point it's plain stealing.
âYeah well we need to find you new clothes,â he says.
âWhat's wrong with my clothes?â
âYou dress too much like a sorcerer.â
âThe hell is that supposed to mean?â You ask, clearly offended. âAnd you dress like fuckinâ Charlie Swan, your point?â
âI'm gonna tell mom you said that.â
âAnd I'm gonna tell her you joined a cult that's currently trying to end the world. How would you like that? Huh?â
Momentarily you stop at a display. Nothing in particular has caught your eye, so much as you need something to stare at, so you're not looking off into space. It's a sale display, holding an assortment of objects. Cheap headphones, phone chargers, snacks. Things people would buy while on a road trip.
âHey check this out!â You hold up the box, âit's a disposable camera!â
James hardly gets out another word as you're tearing it out of the box, checking to see if there's any film in it. You haven't used one of these since you were a kidâŚ
The first thing you point it at is his scowling face.
âI'm going to slap you,â he says, making a sudden dash for the camera, âgive it here!â
âNo way!â You say, hopping behind the counter, just out of reach, âthis is perfect blackmail. You look terrible in this.â
âI know,â he says with a groan, âplease burn it.â
âNever gonna happen.â
You snap one more; it's of yourself. The flash makes your skin look washed out, and the cameraâs far too close to your face. In the background, the broken window is visible.
âCâmon,â he says, offering you his hand, âlet's go fight some curses.â
When you refuse, he makes a sudden dash for the camera. You bring your elbow out and into his sternum, causing him to double over, clutching his ribs. The nearest exit is the window you came in. Your hands plant on the windowsill and you shove your body up and through the broken window. Your landing is less than graceful, but at least youâre still standing.
Tucked in an alley behind a laundromat and a thrift store, is a curse.
It's quite a bit smaller than the last, and far less human looking. It resembles a dog far more than it does a person. But it's head is much larger than its body, making it roll around on its shoulders much like a bobble head. The thing seems to struggle to keep its own head up. Cursed energy radiates off it in waves. Pulsing like a heartbeat. It swells suddenly as you look at it.
It's maw opens, sending a wave of foul-smelling breath towards you, and a scream so loud that the windows of the nearby buildings shatter. Instinctively your hands move to cover your ears, in a weak attempt to protect your hearing. They do little to deafen the noise.
You turn to your brother and yell, but instead of your voice, all you hear is ringing. Blood streams from his ears, down his jugular. His eyes have a glossy, dazed look to them.
Your ears ring too loud for you to gain your bearings. It takes you two tries to grab your sword. The first, your legs give out as you reach down to grab it. You land on your knees, then your hands, and a shock of pain is sent up your wrists. Cold concrete greets your hands, and you begin fumbling around blindly for your sword. Your hands hit the ground as you shove your body upwards, praying youâll stay on your feet. You bring your hands to your own ears. Nothing. No blood. Which you hope is a good sign.
By the time you round the corner of the alley, and exit out onto the street, youâre met with silence.
It's⌠gone.
When the ringing finally settles down, it feels like someone has stuffed cotton in your ears. You move your hand by your left ear. Nothing. You bring it to your right, and finally you hear the sound of your hand brushing against your skin. It's faint, and muddled by a ringing noise, but it's there. You can only hope this will disappear with time. But something tells you you won't get off that easily.
As time goes by, the hearing in your left ear gets clearer. All you hear in your right is ringing. You can only hope that means youâll get some hearing back soon.
This is going to be a pain to explain to Shoko.
âSee where it went?â You ask.
James mouths something that you think is a âwhat?â
âCan you even hear me?â You ask.
âYeah, sorry,â he says, âears are still ringing.â He brings his palm to the side of his head, wincing when he feels blood.
The next scream you hear is far quieter, but close. Maybe you're still too deafened by the first to hear it's true volume. It's hard to dictate the direction of it. You find your head turning to the right to make up for your lack of hearing in your other ear.
As you turn onto a connecting street, you're met with what looks like a crime scene.
A man hunches over the cursed spiritâit's corpse. The body is beginning to dissipate. It's only recently been killed. As far as residuals go, you only detect some. A fight went down here.
The man himself is rather unimposing in nature. Heâs not particularly tall, or large of frame, and he's dressed as a simple businessman. Bits of congealed blood cling to his face. In the dim light it's hard to tell if it belongs to a curse, or a human. He has no weaponsânot that you can seeâand his cursed energy feels weak.
He's a sorcerer.
âWhat's your name?â He asks, not bothering to look up.
âUhâŚâ
He standsâsuddenlyâtossing something aside. âYou're not a playerâŚâ
When he looks up at you, you find yourself frozen in place.
A new sorcerer. One made by Kenjaku. Why hasn't he entered the barrier yet? He must have⌠only a few days left to declare participation. Is this his cursed technique?
No. Can't be. You don't sense any residuals.
This is fear.
You have about a second to duck as he sends a column of flames towards you.
shitshitshitshitshitshitshit
Youâre hit with a wall of cursed energy so potent it makes your head hurt. You quickly gather some cursed energy in your hands, using Rend to give him a shove. It doesn't do much in the way of damage, but youâve effectively tripped him up.
You're not going to lose him out in the open like this.
So you turn and run, followed shortly behind by your brother.
âListen, I really don't want to fight this guy,â you say.
âI don't think heâs gonna give us much of a choice.â Says James.
You exchange one last look before taking off in different directions. In a matter of seconds, youâre making a break for a nearby building, hopping in through the broken window. Glass breaks underfoot as you climb a flight of stars. The first emergency exit is locked, you have to head up a second flight of stairs to find one left slightly ajar.
Not a moment later appears the man, followed by your brother.
He's a few inches taller than the man, and maybe has fifty pounds on him, if not more. That size difference proves a clear advantageâat least when it comes to raw strength. James charges, and both hit the ground. His teeth clamp onto James' hand. There's a crunch, and when he pulls away, blood pours from the wound.
âHe mentioned a player,â you say, âyou think this has to do with the culling game?â
James shrugs. âHold him down for me, will ya?â he says, pulling his knife from his belt, âI wanna see something.â
The tip of his knife presses into the man's arm. Enough to draw a bead of blood. James gathers a bit on his fingers, before popping them into his mouth.
A solid few seconds pass as you sit there, mouth wide open.
Did James just- why did he-
Gross!
You watch his cursed energy stutter, before fading out entirely. His body sizes up like rigor mortis has set in. The air around him shimmers similar to heat waves off a road.
The manâs foot finds your chest, knocking the air from your lungs. You collapse onto your side, clutching your chest. Nothing feels broken, but it's near impossible to take in a breath.
He lets out a laugh. A hollow laugh that echoes in your sore chest.
He doesn't seem as concerned with your brother. Good. Now's your time to run.
If you can draw him away from James, that'll give him time to escape. From there you just have to lose him. After that, you suppose you'll rendezvous near the school.
The first fireball misses you entirely, shooting a hole through the wall directly in front of you. That's when youâre standing, making a break for some coverâthe kitchen counter. The second catches you across the upper thigh, searing your skin, and burning a hole through your pants. You take a step and collapse. Without thinking, you use your hands to rip the burning fabric away.
The pain doesn't hit you until you look down.
Out of all the other injuries you've experienced, this is by far the worst. There's not many things you can compare burns to. Pain-wise, at least. The wound itself is about the size of an apple. Heat radiates off the flesh, which is both charred black, and a raw shade of red. Not like blood, and certainly not the color of your skin; more like a steak that's been cooked rare. Your hands are raw, but in considerably better shape than your leg. Itâll be a while before they blister. And the smell⌠you've smelled something like this before. Where? Any kitchen, really. It smells like cooked pork.
Those flames were pure cursed energyâwhy didn't your body absorb it? Did you not brace in time?
Fear prickles in your fingertips. The sudden burst of adrenaline has worn off, leaving you wobbly, and exhausted. You let that terrorâthat fear pool in your heart, gathering in strength. Maybe that's not the right term for it. It's agitated, practically vibrating in nature.
Your handsâŚ
Healed. Good.
Now how about your leg?
You bring your hands to your leg and close your eyes. You try to replicate what happened the first time, allowing your emotions to fuel the flow of your cursed energy. But the action is awkward, and from the very beginning something feels wrong. You can't muster enough cursed energy to do it.
Can't do it.
"Fuck," you say, following this with a sigh, "fuck!"
Get up. Get! Up!
Your leg can still support your weight, which is good. But any movement of your leg sends shocks of white-hot pain up your thigh. The second your pants brush across the wound, your vision goes black, and you're doubling over, landing on your hands and knees.
Fight or flight has kicked in, and the fear you feel far overpowers any pain. Then you're on your feet, bolting up one, then two, then a third flight of stairs. The first two emergency exits are locked. It's only the final door that's been left ajar. You exit out into a hallway. All the doors are closed. At the end of the hall is a fire exit; a metal platform with stairs that go down a few levels, but not quite to the ground, facing a neighboring building. In the bottom of the alley, you can see a chain link fence, and what you think is a dumpster. Part of the railing has rusted beyond repair, and is marked off with yellow caution tape, and a sign warning people not to lean on it.
That's a long way downâŚ
Cursed energy pours down your arms, into your closed fists.
Still, you make an attempt to barricade the door; slamming it shut. It doesn't lock from the outside. Youâll have to find some other way to keep it shut. You pry away part of the rusted railing, stuffing it under the handle of the door. When he tries to turn it, it gets stuck in the bar.
Good. That'll buy you some time.
To do what? You're not exactly certain. There's nowhere to run. Fighting isn't really a smart choice, but that may be your only option here.
"Why are you trying to kill my ass?!" You shout through the closed door.
You doubt he's going to give you an answer. You should be trying to run. He's clearly shown no problem with using his cursed technique in an enclosed space, so leading him out into the open may be a problem.
His cursed energy burns. It's volatile in nature; moreso than you're used to. The air around him feels as if it's heating up.
"I bet your cursed technique does jack shit out in the rain like this!" You say. Though you have no way to prove this.
And as if on cue, the rain stops.
Something akin to a stone hardens in the pit of your stomach. He doesn't want to kill you. At least not yet. If he wanted you dead, he wouldn't have missed. At the last second, you turn to avoid the mix of flames, and shards of glass spraying up at your face.
It's not long before he has his hand out the broken window, clawing the bar out from under the door handle.
Grimsever isn't much use in a narrow space like this. There's not enough room to swing. And hits you would land, wouldn't have much force behind them.
Screw the sword. Your hands work, don't they?
Your right fist connects with his sternum. Then your leftâwhich has considerably more power behind itâstrikes him square in the jaw. He takes one step back, then another, losing his footing on the wet metal. He makes an attempt to catch himself on the railing, but it's far too rusted to hold the weight of a human being. You reach out to grab his shirt too late. He falls right through that railing, and onto the concrete below.
A fall of a few stories- no human is surviving that.
The sound is the worst part. It sounds like someoneâs thrown a sack full of eggs against the sidewalk. Immediately you take a step back, so as to not look at himâhis body. But that noise echoes through your head on a loop.
You watch as your brother leans over the railing, grimacing as he pulls back. He curses something under his breath.
âHe's still alive,â James says, âc'mon. Let's go down there.â
âWait-â
âIf you don't finish him off with a blow of cursed energy, heâll come back as a curse.â He says. âNow come.â
You walk like a man being marched to his execution.
The ladder screeches from the railing as it's moved from its place. It doesn't reach quite to the ground; there's still a three foot drop at the end.
His limbs jut out from his body stiffly, and his spine looks to be twisted at an odd angle. He much resembles a wax doll in that matter. A doll that's been carelessly thrust aside. Much to your dismay, there's not a lot of blood. A little on the corner of his mouth. And some on his head. But not much.
It was you or him. You were only doing what you had to in order to survive.
It feels like a black mark on your soul. A weight clings to your shoulders that you can't shake. It settles on your shoulders and threatens to bring you down with it.
You find yourself frozen. No matter how hard you try, you can't force your limbs from their place.
âIf you walk away, heâll sit here and suffer.â James says. âThis is a mercy killing.â
It's not like this is the first time you've taken a lifeâcertainly not the first human one either. You've done it before, why can't you now?!
There must be another way. What about getting him to a hospital? Would he make it that long?
In the few minutes it's taken you to climb down, his face has paled. And if he is breathing, it's hard to see, but he makes a rasping noise like he's trying to.
He's trying to say something.
You can make out a few words. Standstill. Game. Nothing much more than that. You assume enough blood has filled his lungs and throat that speech is becoming impossible.
It takes too much effort to look at him. At either of them.
"Fine," James says with a scoff, "I've got it."
He pulls his knife from his belt. And though your head is turned away, you feel the swell of cursed energy. There's a crunch, and the cursed energy that lingers in the air dissipates.
Typically the body would be cremated to further prevent him from coming back as a curse. But you doubt he'll be given a proper burial. It feels wrong to leave him here. But you can't take him back to Jujutsu Tech. there's nowhere nearby to bury him.
"Jesus you're gloomy," James says. "Want a cigarette?â
You take one, holding it between your teeth as you light it. âWhat the hell was the- why did you-â
âI thought through the consumption of his blood, Iâd be able to recreate his cursed technique.â James says. âIn doing so Iâd be able to mimic his soul.â
âDid it work?â You ask.
He holds up his hand. From his pointer finger, a small flame appears. It much resembles a candle in nature. Then he winces, extinguishing the flame. His fingertips look raw, and irritated.
"To a certain extent, yes," he says. âbut I didn't take into account that heâs not protected from his own cursed technique.â
That's lame. He can wield fire but not without burning himself? What a useless technique.
âI suppose if I were to master a reversed cursed technique, I could wield it without worrying about any lasting damage done to myself.â He says. âBut⌠Iâd need more blood to do that. I think I consumed too much of my ownâthere wasn't enough of his in what I took in. It wore off before I could do much.â
âYou think youâll be able to do it with Fushiguroâs blood?â
He nods. âI don't think itâll be easy, but Iâll manage.â
His hands tremble as he lights his cigarette, bringing it to his lips and inhaling. His fingers leave bloody prints on his cigarette. The moment he notices, heâs quick to wipe them off on his pants.
âDo I have a human heart?â He asks.
âI dunno,â you say, âif I stab you through it, will you die?â
He shrugs, before saying âprobably.â
âThen I'd say youâre still human,â you say, âyou haven't come back to curse my ass yet.â

Stay Strong, Alex - Part 4
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Kara is looking out of National City from the DEO headquarters. Her phone rings and Kara pulls out her phone and sees Lena Luthor projected on the screen.Â
"Lena," Kara's voice cracks.Â
"Kara, I'm glad I caught you. Um. Can I ask your advice about something, er, someone?" Lena asks.Â
"Um . . ." Kara closes her eyes as anguish washes over her. "Now's not a good time. I'm sorry. Can I call you back?"
"Oh, of course, of course," Lena replies, her voice taking on a softer note. "Is everything okay?" Lena asks.Â
"I'll call you back," Kara breathes, hanging up the phone. Kara's tear-filled eyes turn back to the skyline, and she closes her eyes, her hands resting against the stone railing.Â
"What are you doing?" J'oon asks, walking up to his daughter-figure.Â
"Listening for her," Kara says brokenly. She takes a deep breath. "But I can't hear anything. I can do all these incredible things, but I can't punch my way out of this or fly fast enough and turn back time. And now I'm afraid to lose the person that is the most important person to me."Â
"To us, Kara," J'oon says softly.Â
Kara nods and tears well up in her eyes. "(Y/n) was right," Kara whispers. "I shouldn't have rushed in. I made things worse. I -" Kara pauses.Â
"(Y/n) was upset. She was frustrated and she lashed out at you," J'oon tells the superhero. "You only did what you thought was best to protect your sister. No one can blame you for that."
"I'm scared," Kara murmurs.Â
"Hey, come on," J'oon says softly, pulling Kara into a hug. The tears finally sliding down her face.Â
. . .Â
(Y/n) enters Rick's interrogation room, her eyes narrowed. She sits down in the metal chair and folds her arms slowly.Â
"Under two hours," Rick says, leaning back in his chair. "The clock is ticking fast."
"I know," (Y/n) says, all emotion had left her after her last conversation with Kara. "And if it ticks down completely, we both lose," (Y/n) continues, leaning forward slightly. "And I don't think you want to lose."
Rick smirks. "And neither do you."
(Y/n)'s eyes narrow.Â
"I was wrong about Kara," Rick says and (Y/n) focuses back on the man in front of her. "She's too much of a Girl Scout to do what I need her to do. I misjudged her." Rick pauses, "But I may have discounted you. You're a cop. You could just walk into that prison and break out my father if you wanted to. You care for her. I've seen that."
(Y/n) holds back the tears that had formed in her eyes, "By stalking us."
"The way you look at her," Rick continues. "The way your hand touches her's when you're walking down the street." (Y/n) bites the inside of her cheek and she shifts her gaze from Rick's for a moment. "Love can make people do things that they don't normally do. So, please, help us bring back the people we love."
. . .Â
"Please tell me you have something?" Kara asks, her voice quivering.Â
"I have literally tried everything, all right?" Winn says. "I've tried family holding, bank accounts, call logs from the prison . . . There's nothing."
Kara groans, looking at the timer counting down from fifty-nine minutes, and she buries her head in her hands.Â
"Hey, we're gonna find her," Mon-El tells Kara. "I-I'm gonna talk to (Y/n) and see if she's got anything else out of him."Â
Kara looks at the computer monitor projecting the camera looking into Rick's room, but (Y/n) isn't there.Â
"Where . . . where's (Y/n)?" Kara asks, and Winn and Mon-El turn to look at the screen.Â
. . .Â
(Y/n) glances around the corner of the prison wall but stops when she hears the guard's keys jingling together.Â
(Y/n) waits until the guard walks through a set of double doors to moves. She strides up to one of the metal pipes and places a projector in front of a camera so that the guards watching the cameras wouldn't see what she is about to do.Â
(Y/n) jogs through the projection, her face set in determined lines.Â
She blows the lock on Peter Thompson's door. "What the hell are you doing?" Thompson asks as (Y/n) grabs his upper arm.Â
"Taking you to your son," (Y/n)'s voice cracks.Â
(Y/n) lifts Alex's raygun and shoots two cameras as she makes her way through the prison.Â
"Nice gun," Thompson comments.Â
"It's my girlfriend's," (Y/n) says shortly, pushing Thompson forward.Â
"(Y/n), you know Alex wouldn't want you to do this," Kara says in her Supergirl uniform.Â
"All I care about is getting her back alive," (Y/n) says, her eyes burning. "You were right, sometimes words don't work."
"Sometimes punching doesn't either," Kara counters. "She just came from your son. She was with him all day, trying to turn him," Thompson turns to look at (Y/n), "make him understand. You know what kind of words your son's been using? Words like 'rescue' and 'love.' He says he wants to rescue you, like you rescued him," Kara steps forward, her arms crossed across her chest. But if he kills Alex Darners, he'll never be rescued. He'll have to live with that for the rest of his life. And that'll be his hell," Kara's voice softens. "Now, you've done a lot of bad things in your life, but you've done one thing you can be proud of. You were a father. A good one. You were there for your son during the toughest time of his life and that's what you need to do again now. If he kills her, you will have failed at the one good thing you've done with your life. Be a father now."
A timer beeps on (Y/n)'s phone, and fear strikes through her. "She's out of time."
"Please, is there anywhere he would have taken her?" Kara asks.Â
"There's one place," Thompson says.Â
. . .Â
(Y/n) and Kara open the garage door of the storage facility and they run in, (Y/n) freezing with horror at the sight of her girlfriend in the glass chamber.Â
Kara speeds over and puts a fist through the glass and all the water - as well as Alex - flow through the hole in the glass.Â
Alex coughs up water as she rolls onto her side.Â
"Thank God," (Y/n) says, pulling Alex's head into her lap. "She's okay. She's alright."
(Y/n) lifts Alex's head up as Alex chokes on the water, coughing it up. (Y/n) grabs Alex's hand and squeezes it.Â
"You held on," Kara says, pressing her hands to her sister's pale cheeks.Â
"I-I h-eld on," Alex stammers.Â
(Y/n) cradles Alex's head and presses her lips to her girlfriend's forehead.Â
. . .Â
The three women return to the DEO, Alex remaining asleep in the MedBay while (Y/n) stares out the window, relaxed by the soft patter of the rain and her girlfriend safe.Â
"Hey, you," Alex says hoarsely and (Y/n) turns, relief evident on her face. "You okay?" Alex asks.Â
A look of disbelief spreads across (Y/n)'s face. "Am I okay?" (Y/n) asks softly, settling down in a chair and taking Alex's hands in her own, a look of tender affection on her face. "Are you kidding? That was really clever, with the whole Navy Seal thing with your pants. What was that?" (Y/n) smiles and Alex laughs.Â
"Well, I knew I just had to buy a couple of seconds," Alex says, and a tear trails down her cheek. "I knew you were going to come."Â
(Y/n)'s gaze softens.Â
"You didn't let me finish before, but I, um . . ." Alex pauses.Â
"What?" (Y/n) murmurs.Â
"I just really have to say it now," Alex continues.Â
"Alex . . ."Â
"It's okay, it's okay," Alex says as she sits up, (Y/n) shooting out a hand to help. The redhead tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and turns to gaze deeply into (Y/n)'s (E/c) eyes. "Those firsts that you talked about . . ." Alex says, her voice a whisper because of how close her face is to (Y/n)'s. (Y/n) nods, a soft smile on her face. "I want to have them all with you." (Y/n)'s eyes get watery. "I never want to stop having firsts with you. I love you, (Y/n) (L/n)."
"I love you, Alex Danvers," (Y/n) murmurs, her eyes still watery.Â
"Yeah?" Alex asks.Â
"Yeah," (Y/n) smiles affectionately.Â
At the same time, (Y/n) and Alex cup each other's faces with their hands and press their lips together, both women beaming.Â
They pull apart, resting their foreheads together, wide smiles on their faces.Â
. . .Â
"She refused to stay in bed," (Y/n) comments with an affectionate eye roll as she supports her girlfriend as they walk into the main meeting room; Alex just laughs.Â
"Are you sure you're alright?" Kara asks, her protective sister coming out.Â
"I'm alright," Alex says, meeting J'oon's warm gaze.Â
"I knew you'd be fine," Mon-El says and Alex grins.Â
"You did good, Alex," J'oon says with a smile. "You too, (Y/n)." He pulls both women into a hug.Â
"Oh," (Y/n) says, slightly surprised, but she returns the hug after a moment.Â
"Just doing what you taught me to do," Alex says and (Y/n) rests her gaze on Alex again.Â
"Oh. You survived," Rick says as two guards lead him away.Â
"Oh," Winn says angrily, "you do not get to talk to her."
"What are you going to do to him?" Alex asks.Â
"My job," J'oon says. "Protect the identity of Supergirl and teh DEO."Â
"You're gonna mind-wipe him?" Alex asks.Â
"Do you object?" J'oon replies.Â
"No," Alex shakes her head, a grin creeping onto her face. "Just . . . Before you do . . ." Alex whips around and nails Rick in the face.Â
(Y/n) exchanges a look with Kara and the two, Mon-El, and Winn all laugh as Rick groans with pain.Â
"Just make sure he remembers that," Alex says firmly.Â
"Will do," J'oon says, walking after Rick and the two guards.Â
(Y/n) walks over and gently takes ahold of Kara's upper arm. "I need to thank you."Â
"Thank me? For what?" Kara asks as the two walk out of earshot.Â
"I was so afraid of losing her that I wasn't thinking," (Y/n) explains. "And I almost . . ."
"Yeah, but you did the right thing," Kara argues. "And that was all you. All I did was remind you of everything you've been telling me the whole time." Kara smiles and (Y/n) tilts her head.Â
"You and me make a pretty solid team, don't we?" (Y/n) asks with a grin.Â
"Well, we both love her," Kara says.Â
"Yeah," (Y/n) says and Kara laughs. The two embrace warmly.Â
The two walk back over and Alex beams at (Y/n).Â
"You wanna go get that dog now?" (Y/n) asks Alex nods excitedly.Â
