Crazy thought. What if being aromantic is like being a skeleton. And when you experience romantic attraction it's like gaining muscle, blood, etc. to your body. So a lot of aromantics are fine being a dope skeleton and dont want to be a full fledge body. But what if some, like me, want that addition of the tightening of muscles and the rush of blood when your near someone your romantically attracted to. But you just don't know how romance fricken works so you try and touch others to feel it and it just doesn't feel like how it's supposed to
#thoughts I had at night on what romance feels like#turns out bones have pain nerves#but who gives a crap#I'm sticking with my analogy#skeletons#aromantic#I'm on the aromantic spectrum#want someone but don't know how to feel romantic feelings#aromanticism at its finest

"you’re no good for me" "but baby, i want you, i want you, i want you"
pairings: klaus mikaelson x human fem!reader
warnings/tags: smut (18+), blood kink, blood sharing, unprotected sex (practice safe sex guys), creampie, needy klaus.
summary: you let klaus feed on you.
you'd expected him to be hungry. you just hadn't realized how ravenous he was, nor what drinking blood did to him.
"f-fuck, ah— c-careful," you gasped.
your voice echoed in the empty room, and his pleasurable grunts echoed with it. it was so dark that you could barely see a thing. you winced, again, from the strange new sensations surging through your body.
"ah— c-careful, klaus, please" you squeaked, it was the only sound that could escape your throat as he clamped your shoulder in his jaw. your neck was soaked, smeared in spit and blood, a leftover gift from when he had searched for the safest spot to drink.
he'd settled on the spot between your collarbone and neck, and there his teeth had sunk in.
with his fangs pierced right down to the bone and his lips bruising your skin, he continued to carefully suck your blood out and into his mouth. it felt like heaven, warm and wet sliding down his throat. to you it was a confusing mix of pleasure and pain.
"a-ah... is—is it, okay?" you whimpered.
klaus let out a low moan in response.
you couldn't move. you were clamped in his jaw, the jaw of a predator designed to keep its prey still, and his body was pinning yours to the cold wood of the floor.
to any passerby you would have looked terrifying. his body was obscured in the dark, appearing as just a hulking, bloody shadow, merging and distorting the outline of your own form; the visage of a monster in the night, consuming the body of a frightened human.
but that wasn't how you saw it. no, you were in the thralls of absolute delight.
one of his hands were on your waist, his fingers carefully drawing you up until you were held taut beneath his body, and the other hand was feverishly groping your tits.
he had torn your dress to feed and then tore a little further, leaving your skin bare right down to your ribs. he was squeezing, stroking, his thumb desperately massaging your nipple. he wanted to hear your whimpers, your soft jolts when he overstimulated that sensitive spot.
you felt him sink down between your legs, his hardened bulge thick and round as it nudged at your bare thigh. he was softly grinding it up against your panties.
you'd never do this, never. this wasn't like you at all. but you were doing it now.
you were mewled as he dry-humped your little body.
your breath was ragged, the soft puffs of condensation from your lips turned a ghostly white by the pale light.
feeding had always been a euphoric experience for him. but now, with you, it had become a full body orgasmic experience, feeding every positive stimulus in his brain and body.
every nerve in his body was on fire in the best way. his body was pulsing, pumping. his arms were covered in goosebumps, his dark hair standing on end, and his cock was painfully erect beneath his pants.
he needed relief. he needed more.
"mmm... mmm," his muffled groans got louder as he continued to feed.
his conscious brain was fighting those deep, vampiric urges, the need to indulge in pleasure no matter the consequences, but his subconcious was primal.
if he had his way he'd drain everything, slowly, all while pumping between your legs into your pretty little cunt, but he couldn't allow that.
you were a sweet, naïve thing, you'd just let him take you up here. your whimpers were heaven, but your softness was too pure for him to fully ruin.
so he forced himself to break a part from you.
he withdrew his fangs and pulled back, revealing the purple, bruised skin of your shoulder. he licked the wound clean before forcing himself away.
"please, please, if you—if you give me your wrist, i—i'll be done, and—"
klaus paused to pant, his lips still stained red. you watched your own blood drip down his chin.
"and, if i could... have you, in another way, it may help to, calm my urges" he said, his voice husky and dark. you watched his eyes glimmer a bright gold. "may i have you?"
"yes," you instinctively blurted, he lunged forward and kissed you. his lips were hard, rough, and you could taste the metallic sting of blood on them. when he pulled back he looked overjoyed.
"good. good. come here, love," he ordered.
you jolted as he dragged your body forward. he carefully tore a hole through your dress and panties with his bare hands.
you shuddered as the cold air hit your bare and slick-coated pussy, but klaus didn't leave you bare for long.
he roughly manhandled you onto the ground before stripping out his suit, allowing his already erect cock to fall down hard on your clit. the sight caused a small, surprised noise to escape your throat, one that he relished.
he was slow, deliberately distracting you with his cock as he raised your wrist to his mouth. he kept you captivated as he carefully slid it inch by inch down your swollen clit, letting you feel every inch.
the pleasure of sinking both his teeth and his cock into you at once was enough to make him physically shake.
with a soft grunt he penetrated both.
your words were turned to gibberish as he pushed his cock in deep, until his pelvis was perfectly squished up against you. the moment your blood hit his throat he started to pump.
you were inside him, and he was inside you. on that filthy, cold floor, you were his.
he started to push his cock in tandem with his teeth.
as his fangs gently shifted beneath the skin, as his lips sucked and bruised, his fat cock gently slipped in and out of your cunt. for such a furious feeder he was a surprisingly gentle lover.
he was terrifyingly strong, that much was clear up close. he bent your thighs until they ached, his fingers digging into the soft flesh as he held you in place, and with each push you could feel the power he was holding back.
you felt him pumping, drawing out your precious blood while his cock ravaged you from inside. each delicious slip, each pulsing throb, every time you felt his cock twitching for attention against your creamy walls, it was unbearable.
you were whining, your heavy breathes producing less and less ghostly condensation. klaus was panting furiously with each thrust, his breath condensing like smoke as he huffed through his curled nose. he was lost in the pleasure, the urge, the need.
and between the tightness, the heat, the copious oozing slick squelching and pooling around his bare skin and dripping off his balls as they smacked against your ass, mixed with the sound of you whining and the fresh blood in his body, he couldn't last any longer.
with a single, muffled groan, klaus came inside of you. his blue eyes rolled back and his body began to buck, smacking your hips until they went numb.
just as he felt your hot blood filling his mouth you felt his thick seed pooling and squishing its way into your cunt, filling every available space. it started to seep out as he continued to hump your limp body, now hanging in sweat, hot pearly strings between his pelvis and your inner thighs.
he pumped inside you until he was utterly spent, his own head now hazy and light, and at last he released you. your wrist fell limp to the floor.
klaus coyly wiped his mouth on the back of his wrist before brushing your forehead. "are—are you alright?"
the relief he felt when you shakily nodded was unmatched.
"thank you," he murmured, his fingers lingering on your cheek. "you were... delicious."

He’s breathing. Alive.
You’ve patched up Joel countless times - cuts and gashes that were too far out of reach for him to handle on his own, a busted ankle from a construction project gone wrong, the occasional painkiller to help with his aching bones. He was a regular within the clinic, like most of the patrol team. And he was your favorite, which wasn’t a secret.
But, this was different.
Tommy - as hard as he tried, attempted to shelter you with the rest of Jackson’s women and children, but it was useless.
You spent the last hour patching up the towns wounded and helping lay to the rest some of the less fortunate, but brave people who had attempted to defend Jackson from the impending horde.
In the chaos of cleaning up bloodied bandages and used medical supplies, the front door to the clinic sounds, bells ringing out so deafening it makes your heart stop.
And the sound of Tommy’s panicked voice as he called out your name.
When you turn the corner to catch sight of him, it was Tommy and Jesse carrying a limp, sleeping Joel on a makeshift gurney and equally injured Ellie holding tight to her ribs as Dina and Maria supported her weight, your eyes widening in shock.
“Fuck—I—what happened?” you ask, immediately sliding the supplies off of the only semi-available operating table you had in the office - it used to be a veterinary clinic, but the town was making do with what they had.
“You save my goddamn brother,” Tommy demanded, his tone riddled with an emotional pain you couldn’t fathom, taking the order in stride as you nodded and put your own curiosity aside, slowly accessing the weight of the situation and surmising that this had been an ambush, more or less, “alright?”
You access his knee, jeans matted with blood around his festering wound, his leg tourniqueted by a belt that Tommy explains wasn’t there doing, rather the attackers. His pulse is steady as your fingers over his femoral artery once you’ve cut his jeans open further with the scissors.
“El—Ellie,” your voice shakes slightly, looking over your shoulder to catch her grimace as she hunched over further in pain, “she needs—”
“I’ve got her,” Maria assures you and Tommy, who was understandably only focused on Joel.
You don’t waste another second, working around Tommy on instinct while Jesse followed the girls to the back room, a gentle but reassuring hand on your shoulder as he passes by.
Your hands move gently over his wound, mind racing through every step of triage and trauma care as if your nerves hadn’t already been shot an hour ago. You didn’t know how many wounds you’ve treated today, but Joel’s was the worst—and unspeakably, the most important.
The wound is bad. Deep.
Frayed flesh around the spread of the bullet, a shotgun you can assume, already turning an angry red. The steps were simple, fortunately. You’ll have to clean it out, maybe even dig if the bullet fragments were lodged in deep.
His face is a mosaic of bruises and dried blood, and he hasn’t stirred once.
That—more than the sight of the injury itself—makes something in your chest clench.
Tommy’s gripping the table tight, white knuckling as his jaw clenched in worry.
“Do I want to know?” you ask softly.
Tommy shakes his head slightly, “Ellie ain’t said much—jus’ know whatever the problem was, it isn’t one anymore.”
“He’s gonna need blood,” you explain to him as you work quietly but carefully on the wound, grateful that most of the issue was at the surface and that with enough time to heal and consistent check-ins, Joel would recover.
Undoubtedly with a limp, but you knew Joel—he’d manage.
The quiet is unsettling, though.
He should be fighting this. Groaning. Cursing. Something.
But he’s still.
Too still.
Tommy stays rooted in place like he’s afraid Joel will vanish if he lets go.
Part of you carries that fear, too.
With the attack on Jackson, everything seemed up in the air.
“I need you to keep your hand here,” you say firmly, guiding his hand to the artery in his leg, feeling the steady pulse underneath your fingertips. “Count the beats, focus. If it slows, weakens—don’t wait, tell me.”
Tommy nods, jaw still clenched tight.
He’s got blood dripping from a cut in his brow, covered in dirt and grime, streaks on his face from the tears he was shedding quietly, it was your only attempt to busy his mind.
You work diligently, more focused than you had been all evening.
Forceps clink against the metal tray as you dig out fragments, your breath hitching every time Joel twitches—barely, like his body’s fighting beneath layers of pain and unconsciousness.
You glance toward the IV stand that was taped to hell, barely holding on.
Just like everything else in Jackson at the moment – like Joel.
“I’m gonna flush the wound,” you murmur more to yourself than Tommy, gripping the saline syringe with steady hands. “Then I’ll stitch it. Antibiotics to be safe. He’ll need pain meds and I need to work on the cuts to his face, but I want his body to rest. We have morphine stored away, but I know Joel will probably refuse…”
Tommy doesn’t respond. Just keeps his hand pressed where you told him, eyes locked on Joel’s face like he’s willing him to wake.
“He still needs blood, Tommy,” you remind him, “but I don’t know his blood type.”
“I’m O-negative,” Tommy interjects.
“That works,” you assure him, nodding for him to sit as you grab the supplies to draw Tommy’s blood, unflinching as the needle slips into his vein.
It’s all rather quick, kneeling to hold the bag as it fills while Tommy stares at his brother, looking briefly over your shoulder to catch his breathing, a slow rise and fall.
“He’s gonna be alright,” you assure Tommy, “the worst outcome here is him complaining about having to use a cane, if it comes to that.
Quietly, you tend to the small head wound that Tommy has and he doesn’t even attempt to argue, eyes flickering to your briefly at the gesture, tilting his head up for better access.
You move efficiently, like muscle memory as you tape up his wound before transferring the blood and prepping the line for Joel.
The line finds Joel’s vein without much resistance, and you secure it with shaking fingers, your breath held as the dark crimson slowly, mercifully begins to flow into his body.
“C’mon, Joel,” you whisper under your breath. “Not you.”
“He was in and out on the way here,” Tommy comments, holding the cotton ball to use the wound as he stands and you quickly return to him to bandage up and pressure the wound, “but now he’s just…still. That ain’t good,”
“It’s the body responding to the pain,” you remind him, “he’s clearly lost a lot of blood, his face is bruised—the important thing is he’s breathing and his pulse is good. Just…let me work on him. Go check on Ellie.”
Tommy hesitates, glancing back at Joel like his feet were already rooted permanently to the floor. Then his eyes shift to yours—tired, firm, unwavering—and he nods, finally stepping away.
Just far enough to check on Ellie.
Just long enough to breathe.
The second he’s gone, it’s just you and Joel.
–
The room feels colder without the presence of Tommy’s worry.
You stitch slowly, methodically, carefully maneuvering around the skin until you are satisfied, constantly eyeing Joel to gauge a reaction, noticing some of his color had returned, hair damp with melted snow.
If he was awake he’d be grumbling and complaining and part of you hates how much you wanted to hear it as you bandage up his knee, assuring that bleeding was under control before you removed the belt on his upper thigh and grabbing a spare blanket to drape over his body as you move down to tend to his face, riddled with cuts and bruises.
You press a hand against his and pull it to his chest, resting gently against the fabric of his shirt.
His palm is rough, calloused, and warm—thank god, still warm.
You clean the last of the blood from his face, wiping gently along the arc of his brow, around the corner of his eye that was slightly swollen. A bruise is blooming dark down the line of his jaw, but under it—his face is still familiar.
Still him.
After a stretch of time that feels like eternity, Maria and Tommy return to the front room of the clinic, looking fearful as their eyes land on Joel.
“He’s alright,” you assure them both, “he probably needed the rest, too.”
Tommy chuckles weakly at that, “I—we’re…we’re gonna go pick up Benji, but we’ll be back, alright?”
You nod in response, “I’m not leaving until he wakes up Tommy, I promised.”
“I know, kiddo,” Tommy says endearingly, approaching you with arms open slightly, enveloping you into a short hug that were few and far between, “Ellie’s asleep, too. Dina and Jesse are sticking around until she settles.”
The front door clicks shut behind Tommy and Maria, the heavy silence seeping back in soon after.
You don’t move far, bringing a stool to sit beside Joel.
The clinic is dim now, the lights softened by fucky wiring as the evening crept in.
You can hear Jesse’s and Dina’s muffled voice in the back—low and quiet—and the distant creak of the cot Ellie’s curled into. But here, in this room, it’s just you.
And Joel, and the quiet hum of his breathing.
You reach up to brush a stray bit of hair from his temple, your hand pausing just above his skin.
“You scared the hell out of me,” you whisper. “If you were awake, I’d be screaming at you,”
And you know he’d only smile.
Joel doesn’t respond, but his breathing shifts.
Not much—just enough to prove he’s still there, riding the edge of sleep and pain.
“You enjoy it, though. You always laugh, I know it’s pointless and that you’re just stubborn as all hell and I’m willing to put up with it,” you push the few strands of hair away from his face and sigh, “guess there’s a reason why you always ask for me.”
A few hours pass, the night creeping in slowly amongst the storm that roared outside.
You glance at his hand after a thorough check-up and redressing his wound for good measure, still resting palm-up where you’d placed it. Hesitant, your fingers slip into his, lacing slowly.
You wait. No squeeze.
But, the warmth is enough.
Then, a shift.
A low grunt, almost imperceptible.
Your breath catches. You look up sharply, eyes scanning his face. One eye twitches. His brow furrows just slightly.
“Joel?”
He doesn’t open his eyes, but his mouth moves.
“Ellie?” he asks weakly, squeezing your hand back.
Tears burn your eyes before you can stop them, relief flooding your chest in waves.
You squeeze his hand back again. Tight. “She’s okay—she’s good,” you whisper quickly, wiping your cheek with your sleeve, not that it helps.
Joel breathes out, like the tension’s finally releasing from somewhere deep inside his chest.
You watch the slow rise and fall of him for a moment, just taking it in. Life.
Then his eyes crack open, albeit one is swollen, but hazy and bloodshot and focused on you.
His brows twitch as he looks at you.
“You cryin’?” he rasps, voice rough but teasing.
Even now, he teases you.
“You worried the hell out of me,” you tell him.
“Did I?” Joel asks genuinely, “M’sorry, darlin’.”
“Do you remember what happened?”
Joel grimaces and makes a soft noise, “S’all touch and go, right now. I’m really tired, that normal?”
“I gave you some painkillers,” you explain, “probably why.”
Joel looks around gingerly, noting the mess with an amused expression.
“Cleaned up real nice for me, didn’t you?”
“Sorry to disappoint,” you mutter dryly, shifting to adjust the blanket over him. “Next time, I’ll set up some mood lighting and put some music on for you.”
Joel groans low in his throat, the corner of his mouth twitching upward.
“Nah. You singin’ for me would be good enough.”
You snort softly, “I don’t sing.”
“Shame,” he murmurs, barely audible, his eyes slipping closed again. “Bet it’d be real pretty, you got a pretty voice, know you’d sing pretty too.”
Your chest squeezes, caught somewhere between a laugh and a breath you can’t quite take.
“You’re losing it, old man.”
Joel smiles weakly.
“Maybe.”
A long pause and he speaks even soften.
“Still think you got a nice voice, though.”
–
You stay beside him. Even after he dozes back off, you don’t move—not far. Never quite letting go of his hand either. Just shift the stool closer and brace your elbow on the edge of the bed, chin tucked in your other hand.
The storm outside has softened, now more wind than snow, rattling the windows with every gust.
You don’t realize you’ve nodded off until something shifts. A sound—low, grumbly.
“…you snore a little,” Joel rasps.
You straighten quickly and shake your head, blinking through a sleep haze as you answer him defiantly, “I do not, Miller.”
“Oh—you do, sweetheart,” Joel challenges, a subtle smirk playing at his face, staring at you through his swollen eye.
“Good to know you never stop being insufferable,” you tease him.
“Just like seein’ you laugh,” Joel admits before a silence grows, a look of subtle concern crossing his face, “How bad was it? The horde?”
“We’ve dealt with stuff like that before, maybe not at that level but it isn’t something we’re not prepared for. A couple didn’t make it, got bitten defending the watchtower—Jackson can always rebuild, we mourn, move on, you know? With you, s’different,”
Joel, for once, doesn’t know how to respond.
You see it then—that quiet, careful look he sometimes gives you when he thinks you're not watching. Like he’s cataloguing you. Not in some grand, poetic way. More like he’s memorizing how you look when you're safe. When he needs the reminder of it.
You’re too tired to do anything but meet it.
“I ain't goin' anywhere,” he says finally, voice rough but firm, “You can stop lookin’ at me like I’m about to flatline.”
You raise an eyebrow. “Don’t flatter yourself.”
Joel smirks faintly. “You’ve been holdin’ my hand for a while,”
“Oh,” it started to feel like an extension of you, his touch, but you slowly attempted to retract.
“Don’t,” Joel tells you, gripping your hand tighter, shifting his head against the makeshift pillow underneath his head that you had made out of his jacket halfway through the night.
“Thanks for not givin’ up on me,” Joel says gently,
You glance over, unsure how to respond at first.
“You really think I would?”
“Dunno,” he says, voice low, “don’t really think I deserve the effort anymore from anyone…”
He trails off, but it hangs between you anyway.
The way he says it—soft, raw—like the words snuck out before he could stop it.
You lean in slightly, brushing your thumb just once over the back of his hand.
“I’m not anyone, Joel.”
Joel looks at you again, his expression shifting.
His fingers curl around yours again. Warmer this time. Intentional.
“Five years I’ve known you—I’ve patched your ass up more times than I can count. I’ve had dinners with you, beers with you and your brother. This isn’t my attempt at gaining some good karma. I care about you just as much as the rest of this town.”
“You’re too good to me,” Joel says quietly.
–
Jackson rebuilds, but it takes time.
Eventually, you find out that the assailants were after Joel—but Jesse and Ellie had shown up at a crucial point in the ambush that saved Joel and Dina’s life, despite his extensive injuries.
And Joel, stubborn as he was, began to heal.
The first few weeks are slow, mostly bed-ridden - or office-ridden, leg propped up at his desk as he and Tommy planned out the rebuild process and you rounded your daily office visit to him for assurance that he was taking the antibiotics you had given him and checking on his wound.
It takes a few months, but he does get on his feet again.
He’s resilient, you’ll give him that. An injury that would take no less than six to eight months before the healing was done and Joel was already moving, though with some noticeable pain.
You spot him halfway down the main road on the first name where Jackson was finally starting to feel normal again, walking out of the Tipsy Bison with a pronounced limp.
You sigh to yourself, shifting the object under your arm and start down the road.
“Joel Miller.”
He doesn’t stop walking, but he flinches a little.
He’s been avoiding you for a couple weeks now, knowing how insistent you had been about him using something to support his leg, just to give it a break once in a while.
“I will chase you down.”
He stops.
You close the distance, holding up the object in your hand.
“If you don’t use this, I’m following you everywhere, barring you from walking, and pushing you around in a wheelchair.”
He eyes the cane. Then your face. Then the cane again.
“Is that what I think it is?”
“It’s exactly what you think it is.”
He scowls. “I’m not usin’ a damn cane.”
“You’re still healing,” you tell him, “and if you care about my worries—you’ll use it.”
“That’s low,” Joel counters,
You had spent a week sanding down the cane to a smooth texture, rounding out the handle to something comfortable to grip, even polished it up. It was extravagant or crazy, but it was clearly made with love.
“Did you make it?” Joel asks curiously.
“Doesn’t matter,” You shrug.
Joel smirks at that.
You had. He knows it.
He takes it wordlessly, wrapping his fingers around the handle and planting it into the ground.
He tests it out wordlessly, leaning his weight into it and only slightly annoyed at how it eases the weight on his injured leg, looking up at you sheepishly.
“So….should I say it now or?”
“Zip it,” Joel retorts with a faint playfulness, “it…helps, s’real nice of you, you know?”
You raise your brow. “You sayin’ I was right? Knowing you needed it?”
“Don’t push it.” Joel warns
“Say it.” you tease with a flirtatious smile that doesn’t go amiss.
Joel sighs, scratching at his jaw. “You were… not completely wrong.”
You beam, and he rolls his eyes, though the edge of his mouth quirks up.
After a beat, he taps the cane gently against the side of your boot.
“Walk with me?” he asks.
He didn’t even need to ask.
–
There wasn’t any indication of where you were walking to, but naturally you drift to your shared street, homes sitting on opposite sides of the street, but near enough that you were only a short walk away.
The cane clicks softly against the dirt road like a steady metronome to the quiet shuffle of your boots. His limp is pronounced, but less severe than it was a few weeks ago.
The streets are quieter these days. Jackson feels like it's exhaling after holding in a long overdue breath.
Joel walks with his shoulder close to yours. Not touching, but close enough that it would only take a shift. He’s never been one for words, not when the moment matters most—but his silence is full of meaning.
Or, maybe he is just savoring the peace.
“You really made this?” he asks again after a few paces, like he needs to be sure.
You nod shyly, hands shoving into your coat pockets.
He’s quiet for a while, but then, “It’s real thoughtful of you.”
“I was gonna carve your name into it, actually,” you joke, nudging him gently with your elbow, “but Tommy said that was a bad idea.”
Joel chuckles low under his breath. “He’d be right.”
Through your sudden shared laughter, your knuckles brush.
It’s nothing, but it feels like so much.
As you approach your houses, Joel turns to you.
“Do you need anything?” you ask him gently. “I can stop by later if you need some pain meds or anything? Or yell at you for not resting up at home like you should.”
Joel huffs, shaking his head. “Always lookin’ for a reason to yell at me, huh?”
“Only ‘cause you keep givin’ me so many,” you tease.
He looks at you for a long moment, eyes scanning your face in the too quiet dark.
“You stayed the whole night,” he says finally, like he’s been holding it in for a while.
“I told Tommy I wouldn’t leave until you woke up.”
Joel nods once. He shifts his weight on the cane, hesitating just slightly, before adding, “I heard you—talkin’ to me.”
“You did?” you ask, your voice quiet. “Well, that’s…embarrassing.”
Joel’s gaze drops to your hand lingering close to his—he hadn’t even realized he’d reached out until it was too late, his hand dwarfing your own in a gentle hold of your fingertips.
It’s a small touch, but it grounds him.
You flinch slightly at the touch, feeling the heaviness of the moment
“You can let go,” he says, looking back up at you.
You smile faintly. “I don’t want to.”
Joel hums thoughtfully. “Seems I don’t want to either,”
And in that soft hum between houses, under the stars beginning to peek through the roaming clouds overhead, Joel leans in, his cane shifting a few inches behind you as he leans his weight into it to reach you, his lips pressing against yours in a quiet, tender moment of vulnerability under the dim street lights.
“Never got to thank you properly,” Joel admits.
“Is that your way of saying thank you?” you ask curiously.
“Can be,” Joel responds mischievously, a smirk tugging at his lips as you pull back to look at him.
“I think you can do better,” you challenge him, nose brushing against his own.
“You’re damn right,” he agrees, using his free hand to curve around the back of your neck as he pulls you in, stealing your breath away with the second press of his lips.
When he parts, you can’t help but giggle against him, an indescribable feeling tightening your chest.
“Yeah…that’s—” You breath stutters as you nod, “that’ll do.”
Joel chuckles softly, his thumb grazing your cheek.
“Good, ‘cause I got a lot of thankin’ to make up for.”

Jon Snow’s bewildered, sour Northern timbre rattled throughout the stables, twisted with palpable uncertainty as you led him back toward bales of hay. His stomach was coiled into knots — knots of excitement, but nerves seemed to prevail.
Ever the honorable one, he often cautioned you against these hasty, secret meetings you orchestrated. A sliver of him thoroughly enjoyed the exhilaration of it all, the thrill of being with you between corridors and in darkness.
Trysts like these were exceedingly dangerous — if any question came into being regarding your virtue or his honor, Eddard would have his head for it, and you would be scorned.
“Yet you willingly partake,” A quip as sharp as a longsword dug into his side, prompting him to huff in response. “If this is madness to you, Jon, you have not yet lived a life.”
“Here, of all places?” Jon countered, tone bordering along exasperation and subtle excitement. The stables weren’t exactly the most conventional place to couple, but your options were thin. He feared someone stumbling upon the both of you.
Glancing over your shoulder, you peered at your brooding paramour through a half-lidded gaze, head canting to one side. “Here, of all places.” You parroted, tone dripping with amusement.
Gods, you were such a temptress.
It was difficult to resist you, the prettiest girl he’d ever seen, the hem of your dress shamelessly steeped in several inches of mud. Even the Northern chill could not ice his bones in your presence, as warm as the sands of Dorne.
The both of you were caught within the throes of youthful affection and what he called it, love. It pained him all the more to consider the Night’s Watch when he had you at his side.
“You do not have to follow me, Jon,” You countered, one hand twined with his, steering the doe-eyed boy back into the stables, enough for partial concealment. This was as reckless as it seemed — but you cared little for it. “You can always turn around.”
A pleading groan rippled from his throat, yet Jon relented, chasing after you like a wolf nipping at your heels. “What happens if we’re discovered? Your brother would take my head for this.” He murmured.
The thought of Jory Cassel dismantling his head from his shoulders was a gruesome thought — but not before Eddard Stark got to him first. Jon shuddered, dark brows creased with permanent frustration.
“Gods, you worry like an old crone,” Your bubbling laughter made his chest stir with warmth, the sensation spreading toward his stomach. “Why, you don’t trust me?” You suggested.
With furrowed brows, Jon’s countenance told a different story, one of incessant fear and boyish nerves, ones that only flourished in your presence. He seemed to accept defeat. “I do trust you.” He insisted.
Inching closer, you pressed a palm against his chest, nail picking at the finely-crafted leather. “We don’t have long,” You murmured, tone betraying your playful facade. “I wish it weren’t always like this.”
Jon exhaled, a somewhat trembling noise that finally evened out as moments ticked by. He reached to cup your jaw, calloused thumb soothingly stroking at your cheek. “Someday, it won’t be. I promise.”
The constant sneaking around had become exhausting — Jon was shocked that no one had discovered you yet. Even then, as much as he fought against brash decisions like these, it was all you had, and he would seize the moment.
With a cheshire smile, you rocked up upon your toes to kiss Jon, reveling in the sensation of his weeks-old stubble scratching your skin. You enjoyed his rugged appearance more than that of a freshly-shaved boy.
Sometimes you forgot that he was nine-and-ten, more a man now than boy — but that was who you’d fallen in-love with, the boy. Jon Snow, the bastard of Winterfell.
He could’ve been anything and nothing, and your feelings wouldn’t have changed. A bastard or not, Jon meant more to you than most. He was kinder, not spoiled or surly, yet still protective when it mattered most.
Jon very nearly buckled beneath the saccharine warmth of your mouth, absorbing every scrap of heat from you. Gods, you were the first woman he’d ever touched, ever laid with — he hoped that you would be the very last.
Your experience before he truly became your lover never soured him to you — in fact, it made him jealous. If Jon had it his way, he would’ve been your first for everything, but there was no use in dwelling in the past.
Fortune favored him, knowing that he had you now. His hands, initially hesitant, finally made their perch against the swell of your hips. The lovely outline of your body molded itself to his palms as you kissed him, digits toying with his dark curls.
“You could change your mind,” Your softened voice drifted between the both of you. “About me.” It was a gentle sigh in between kisses, your countenance becoming a touch melancholy.
A look of complete and utter shock made residence upon Jon’s features, lips agape at such a statement. “I wouldn’t,” He insisted, hooking an arm around your hips. “You know that I wouldn’t.”
Jon knew your being like the scrawlings of a map — every fine line, every landscape, the valleys and dips of your heart. You knew him just as much, and you knew that he was certain about you. It gave you comfort, placating reassurance in the face of insecurities.
It brought you solace to know that Jon intended on being with you, even if your union was somewhat unconventional. It was a love whispered between corridors — stolen glances, a yearning that transcended duty, touching behind hay bales.
“Good,” Your assertion made his belly erupt with fire, stoked by your constant teasing and prodding. Jon savored it nonetheless, even if it did make his features burn with scarlet. “Are you blushing?”
Seven Hells — Jon nearly tossed you into the hay for your inquiry. He huffed, playfully pinching the pliant part of your haunch. “No,” He grumbled, silently commiserating over your observant nature. “But you don’t make it any better.”
With a laugh as bright as the first inkling of springtime, it prompted Jon to smile too, even if it was threadbare. A comfortable silence drifted between you both, simmering with a thinly-veiled tension, wreathed in desire.
Desire was a perilous thing, especially for Jon.
He was still somewhat clumsy during your lovemaking, inexperience glimmering through, but he was an adept learner. Jon thoroughly enjoyed learning your body as one would learn to wield a broadsword.
The ardor that glistened within your hues made his heart pound like a hammer against an anvil, steel to be molded by your capable hands. He was often the more subservient one in your union, not that he minded it.
Jon seemed content to become lost within your gaze, reduced to a mere pup. Swallowing the growing lump within his throat, he bent to kiss you, disarmingly gentle as he squeezed at your hips.
A beat fluttered between the both of you; love blossomed, yet lust flourished like a swiftly-spreading fire. Soft fingers found their purchase against the nape of his neck, preening through his dark curls.
Beams of a dying sun pooled in from the gaps in the wood, painting your features with burnished gold. It was nearly dusk, and the castle would be settling — Jon’s incessant worrying began to diminish altogether.
Lips tangled together, a sweet dance that stole every wisp of air from his lungs. Jon felt your palms glide downward, planting themselves against his chest as you wordlessly directed him to the firm bales of straw.
“Wait,” Jon rasped, voice hoarse with desperation. Before you could slip into his lap, you ceased, head cocking to one side. “I want to taste you first.” He wanted it more than anything else.
A coy smile caused your lips to quirk, and you sauntered backwards a step or two, back hitting the wall of the stables. Brazenly, you gathered the material of your dress in one hand, slipping it up along your legs.
Jon did not waste a second, moving off of the straw and onto his knees, crawling to you like a starving animal; a wolf on all fours. Those dark hues of his sparkled with affection, even as he parted your legs with his shoulders.
His tongue raked hot embers across your cunt, greedy laps causing you to shiver in delight. Nimble digits found their way to his crown of curls, coaxing him closer. “Jon.” You sighed his name as if it were a prayer.
It was ambrosial, your taste; a finest stout, the sweetest of nectars that stained his lips with your perfection. Jon sloppily lapped at your cunt, dutiful and attentive, ensuring to find every spot that made you gasp for air.
Nimble digits fisted into your tattered skirts, mouth agape as a myriad of throaty moans escaped you. Your hand roamed through his tresses, tugging and pulling whenever his tongue graced the pearl of your cunt.
Jon wasn’t tactful nor graceful, but passion and enthusiasm was all he really needed to please you. Each kiss he placed against your cunt drove you to madness, arching into the eager ministrations of his mouth.
If he were to perish, let it be between your thighs, exactly like this. An aching sensation throbbed along his length, straining against his leather trousers. He gripped your thigh, letting you rest one leg atop his shoulder.
The scratch of his stubble caused friction between his cheek and your thighs, yet it was a pleasant sting. You sang Jon’s praises, a myriad of hushed whines and wanton moans between the distant whistling of the Northern gales.
Warmth blossomed throughout your body, a familiar coil of heat unfurling within the pit of your stomach. A stab of pleasure struck at your nethers when Jon’s tongue briefly rolled over your clit, prompting you to tug on his curls.
A low groan rippled through his throat, reverberating as a grunt throughout his chest. He savored your taste, each twitch of your thigh, brusque tug of his tresses from your greedy hand.
Jon cared little for the mess, content to drink you in, rougher palm caressing against your thigh before trailing down to your calf. He squeezed again, to ensure that you were real and not some lascivious fantasy he’d dreamt of.
You were everything — flesh and blood, the lament that echoed his name, a lover so beautiful that he dared not look away. Jon did not consider himself a romantic, but he found himself putting in the effort with you.
He devoured you like a man starved, a hungry wolf, seeking its final meal. Jon continued to trace your cunt with his tongue, kissing you wherever he could. Your little tugs of his tresses often coaxed him further into your heat.
As his lips rolled over the pearl of your cunt again, your knees buckled, ecstasy mounting, electrifying your very veins. He did not cease, tongue stoking the fire, delighted to lap at your core until you forced him to stop.
Tugging at his tousled curls, you pried Jon away from you, flushed with a delicious shade of scarlet. Warmth permeated your skin, a heat that sank into your bones, kept you oblivious to the growing cold that came with dusk.
His chin glistened with your slick, pliant lips seeking your mouth. “You are so handsome.” You purred, watching Jon preen beneath the softness of your compliment. You thought him to be perfect in every way imaginable.
Rising to his feet, Jon did not resist when you began to push him back toward the bale of straw, palm planted against his chest as he sat. He was more than willing, peering up at you through thick lashes.
“You’re beautiful,” Jon reciprocated your kindly words, timbre steeped in an awestruck appreciation for you. His breath hitched within his throat when you slid into his lap, hitching your skirts up towards your hips. “Seven Hells.” He groaned.
Excitable hands grasped your hips once more, brazenly sinking towards your derrière as you kissed him. Jon’s sigh was audible as he returned such a heated kiss, brows creased in concentration.
There was a lack of uncertainty in his actions, and in the beginning, he was often unsteady and hesitant. Now, Jon touched you greedily, wanting more of you, savoring the sensation of your body pressed so closely to his.
Able to taste your own nectar upon his tongue, you allowed one hand to clasp at the nape of his neck, the other slyly working to slip beneath his tunic. Jon was growing in muscle, flesh as pale as a moonlit snowfall, broad-shouldered and comely.
Your dress would be riddled with pieces of hay in the aftermath, but it was all worth it. Your kisses were rather domineering, but disarmingly gentle. Perhaps your desire to take initiative always lingered in your entanglements, but your love for him never faded.
Jon let his kiss linger, lips pressing to your jaw, and then to your throat. A shiver iced your spine with anticipation, hand traveling from beneath his tunic toward the laces of his trousers.
It was then that you scanned his features for any hints of hesitation or uncertainty. “Do you want this, even still?” You uttered, lips tugging into a reassuring smile. He did not seem as nervous as before.
With a nod, he reached to cup your jaw, pressing a chaste kiss to your brow. “More than anything.” The rasp within his tender tone filled your stomach with an eruption of butterflies, gooseflesh tingling along your skin.
There was certainly no rush, but with daylight burning and Jon expected to be in his quarters soon, you began to act with haste.
Eager fingers unraveled the coase ties of his breeches, with Jon attempting to aid you wherever he could. With bated breath, you looked to him, brimming with a thinly-veiled adoration.
His hands held your hips, allowing you to maneuver yourself as you saw fit, freeing his cock from its confines. You hovered, soft palm guiding his length to your slick cunt. Jon inhaled — a sharp, poignant noise that signaled relief.
“Jon,” You moaned, grasping for his broad shoulders, still shrouded in leather. Gods, you wished you could see him bare, unobstructed — he was surely a ravishing sight. “Gods, I missed you.”
Jon groaned at the sweetness of your words, spoken through a wanton moan. He held you close, hands tracing the outline of your curvaceous physique through your gowns.
Twilight painted the skies above Winterfell, bringing with it the bitter bite of nightly chill and a canvas of stars above. Darkness settled in throughout the stables, save for the burning of dying braziers within the stables.
Even through such slim illumination, Jon could make out your countenance, a picture of beauty, contorted into a look of bliss. He was at your mercy, slumped back against some of the bales, letting you ride him as you would a broken gelding.
Intermingled noises of breathy moans and strenuous pants reverberated in the space around you, heat prevailing where the cold could not.
Jon shuddered at the feeling of your cunt, tight and warm around him, clenching around his cock with each roll of your hips. You took him perfectly, as if you were made for him, molded together.
It was a sluggish start, agonizingly so, bodies finding moments to adjust to one another, grow accustomed. You drew yourself up, his cock filling you in such a pleasant way, nothing discomforting about it.
The way in which you milked him, moved agonizingly slow, allowing him to feel your cunt tighten around him — it was nearly overwhelming.
The very image of grace, tarnished with lust; a maiden worth worshiping. Jon huffed, chest erupting with a string of pants and soft groans, lips agape as you adopted a steady rhythm.
His hands caressed circles into your hips, dark hues wide and mesmerized, doelike in their silent appraisal of you. Through the moonlit dusk of the stables, you met his gaze, blushing beneath the intensity of it.
A whimper of bliss bubbled from your lips as you became invigorated in your pace, rocking yourself up and down along his cock, aided by his grasp upon your hips.
The lewd, crass union of flesh against flesh joined the ambiance, yet all he could focus on was you, the lovestruck look within your eyes, exuberance glittering beneath. He kneaded along your thighs, squeezing when the pleasure mounted.
“Perfect,” A soft sputtering between exhilarated breaths, enough to ensnare Jon’s attention. “Gods, Jon, you’re perfect.” Such wanton praise nearly made him spill his seed into you then and there.
His hips stuttered, bucking off of the bale and right into you, cock reaching new depths. It made you moan, significantly noisier this time, enough for Jon to become mildly concerned about someone investigating.
A familiar coil of heat began to unfurl within the pit of your stomach, just as it did his own. Jon sat up enough to seize your lips in a kiss, one that blossomed with passion, letting his affections bleed through.
Your pace was tantalizing, nothing too swift to let it feel sloppy and rushed, yet fervent enough to make his head swim with the haze of desire. Jon’s mouth did not part from yours until you drew away, only to release another moan.
Jon fought against his release, not wanting it to end so quickly, stomach tight as could be. He let out a string of sighs, vocalizing your comeliness, digits squeezing into your hip once more.
“Don’t stop.” He huffed, and if he could plead with you, he would’ve. Your current rhythm was perfect, made to torment him as you sank yourself down upon his cock again.
Your cunt clenched pathetically, snug around his length as you continued to ride him, his cock bottoming out within you. It was a perfect storm of sensations, ones that made you delirious with desire, crying out to the heavens.
It was your release that came first, and it was swift — the intensity of it nearly blinded you, white-hot and sticky as you began to still. The tightness of your cunt sent Jon cascading over the edge.
Jon’s swift thinking caused you to move off of him, with seconds to spare as he spilled himself across your thighs, ropes of seed painting your flesh. Embarrassment rippled through him, but you understood why he didn’t come undone inside of you.
Chests rose and fell with labored sighs, basking in the aftermath of your tryst. Pieces of straw had stuck themselves to your dress, to his clothing, to his dusky curls.
It was difficult not to let your seriousness diminish in the wake of your orgasm, body tingling with such bliss. You couldn’t help but giggle at the ridiculousness of this — the stables, the disheveled hay, your recklessness.
He found himself smiling with you, dutifully assisting in cleaning his seed off of your thighs with the handkerchief tucked away within his tunic. Your shared joy brought him comfort.
“What will Lord Stark think of your unkempt state?” You teased, plucking golden twigs of hay from his hair, nose wrinkled with mild amusement. “Romping around in the hay?”
Jon huffed, eyes crinkling with mirth as he pulled you in for a kiss, allowing it to linger, knowing that he would be parted from you soon enough. “If I’m lucky, Lord Stark won’t see me.” He mused.
You would pray to the Old Gods that Jon was not accosted by his stern-faced father. “If you’re unlucky?” It was not something that Jon wanted to consider, but he did for the sake of your playful inquiry.
“We’ll have to find a different location.”

beating, not still

— sylus slips into bed with you in the middle of his day to calm the specter that haunts you
ʕ ꈍᴥꈍʔ: sy’s chest has been thru the wringer so i wanted to show it some love. accidentally made myself sad writing this. something quick & cute, i’ll edit punctuation & caps in the morning hehe. enjoy! ❀-urs
sylus x reader | angst, fluff, mentions of killing, hurt/comfort, softsyloo
“you like that spot.” sylus murmurs, voice like caving ground and a simmering fire. his large hand comes up to brush your hair out of your face. warm like a furnace. through the curtain, you meet his sleepy gaze.
your lips press against his bare chest, just the tiniest tilt to the right of his sternum. he smells of clean soap, spice and something inherently him— crisp and familiar. the brush of your lips on his skin as you speak makes him shiver, ripples of sensation shooting through his nerves like fire. “good morning.”
“beloved,” he purrs, hauling you up by your shoulders to meet your lips in a tender kiss. “did you sleep well?”
you nod out of instinct. but you were awake in the middle of the night for a reason. he slipped in for a midday nap with you because of something you’d been doing in your sleep.
“are you sure?” he whispers, more sympathetically as he trails his thumb down the line of salt your tears left behind. he kisses your forehead tenderly, “Tell me.”
you turn away, crawling back down to his chest and planting your chin there as a silent protest. “i dont remember.”
he considers you— if you were being stubborn or secretive or brave yet again. but with the way you were trailing your fingers down the middle of his chest, how your ear is so meticulously close to his heart, listening for a thrumming heartbeat that was present and not still— he had a feeling he knew what it was.
“angel.” he implores you, large hand coming to rest on the top of your head. “i’m here.”
your chest tightens. a vacuum pulling every bone inwards until they shatter and crash into the cavity. and you are helplessly trying to ground yourself, match your breathing with the constant badump badump badump of his heart.
“i know.” you squeeze the words out, holding your breath when you do. controlling the amount you let out lest you let loose everything. “i know, sylus.”
“no, look at me.” his finger tilts your chin up from the spot. the spot he cherishes and the spot you despise. the spot you favor. the spot he kept protected until you. the spot where you pointed the gun, and where he pulled the trigger with your finger. the spot you hear his racing heartbeat. the spot you dug your sword into, and killed him the first time. once, a long time ago, relived in a dream.
he sees you. he sees every part of you in the darkness of your bedroom— and still you shine brighter than if all the stars in the sky were to combust. he holds your gaze, because let him keel over and die again and again instead of see you in this pain. “come back to me.”
something inside you stirs— not quite pain, but something deeper, more primal and abstract. your soul, like it was beckoned to heel. to be still as another wraps itself around it. to hold on to its other half that submits itself and never let go.
“i’m a monster.” you finally confess, shattering like glass, all too conscious of staining his palms red. of hurting him. of being foolish enough to take him away from you again.
his lips press into the skin above your brow— his favorite spot. his teeth graze it as he murmurs, “that’s not true.”
“sylus—“ you begin to argue, but he silences you with a kiss. you blink, but don’t let it deter you. “i hurt you.”
“have i ever complained?”
“dont do that.” because how could he not care? how could he look at you with such a loving gaze you do not deserve? how could he forgive you as easily as breathing?
he frowns and then studies your face. “you’re right. you have hurt me.”
and somehow that is worse. of course it is worse. your bottom lip trembles. his thumb comes to rest on the delicate flesh lightly. “my soul hurts with you. when you are in pain, so am I.”
his fingers dance down your spine and hook beneath one thigh. there, he pulls you up to his eye-line. your head rests on his bicep as he presses his forehead against yours. “so listen to me when I say you are the furthest thing from who you are in your nightmares.
“and if you are a monster, then so am I.” he rasps.
his heart races under your palm, his own hand spreading your fingers over his chest. “you’ve never hurt me alone. i’ve always been there to do it with you.”
“If you couldn’t heal—“ you start.
“Then I would have broken all my bones crawling back to you.” he vows.
“If you died—“
“I would have found you in the next life. And the next, and the next.”
“If you felt I hated you.” you hiccup, unable to hold back the tears. the thought of him believing for one second you felt anything but love for him devastated you beyond belief. His eyes fill with warmth as he lowers his tone.
“Then I would have done everything to remind you how much I love you.” He says steadily. “Don’t mourn over who we were, my heart.”
“We are here.” he says, kissing the tip of your nose. floating his lips over the lids of your eyes. “Come back to me and stay.”
ever patient, ever gentle and kind to you. he keeps you in his embrace until you calm, feathering the tip of his nose lightly up and down your cheek as he kisses each of your fingers.
you listen to his heart; to his steady breathing, swaying and cradling you like the push and pull of the tide. you listen to his words, turn them over and around in your head— once, twice, thrice— until they sink deep, deep in your heart. this truth settling like oil in your liquid thoughts.
he watches as you calm. and you melt back down his chest— to the spot where he found you.
“beloved?”
you kiss him there— over the invisible mark of the bullet and the sword and your hatred. what once was his undoing, but has always been his strength. the hand that killed him now holds him tightly, tenderly. lovingly and achingly so.
this is your promise to him— to undo all that was done.
to return. to love. to stay.
his face is almost feverish when you cradle it. his content smirk a charming twitch beneath your thumb as his eyes close at your touch.
your cheek to his chest, iron to a magnet— natural, inevitable. finally, you smile— small, but sincere. enough for him. “i like this spot.”

The guys with a girlfriend who honestly.. kind of scares them
In different ways of course, but there’s still the underlying theme of her being rather unsettling
- @murderkittyz
I want you to know that this has been living in my mind. I love writing reader characters that are weird af and quite honestly unsettling
To be honest, writing Nikolai was really hard for this one, and I’m still not totally satisfied by it. I think he’s too willing to match your freak.
cw: some graphic descriptions of violence (not enacted, just threats/movie scenes etc)
Gaz is freaked out by how much you like the dark. You scare the shit out of him all the time because he’ll come home, thinking you’re not home because no lights are on in the house, and you’re so quiet— he is not proud to admit how many times he’s screamed when you suddenly said hi from a spot in the dark. And how whenever you get up in the middle of the night, you don’t turn the lights on. He asks you why, and you just say you don’t need them. Freaky.
There have been a handful of times where you were truly, extremely angry at Soap. And he almost pissed himself every single time because of how scary you get. Not because you scream or shake or slap his chest or anything, but because you don’t do any of it. Outside, you’re calm, you’re smiling. But it’s how you talk to him like he’s a child. “It’s okay. I’m just very, very angry at you right now”. It puts him on fucking edge. It creates this tension like you’re about to do something, that you’re gonna get back at him somehow in some way he’ll never see coming, but you don’t do anything. Absolutely fries his nerves.
Ghost is scared by how easily you tone switch, partially because he’s not really able to do so. The way you can be talking about someone from the base and say “he’s such a fucking prick bastard. I wanna rip off his balls and shove them down his throat far enough that he chokes”. And then the next day, you’ll greet the same guy like he’s an old friend. Extremely polite, pleasant, happy. It reminds Simon that he only sees the real you because you allow him that privilege.
Price is scared by your good memory. He’s used to being the one who remembers, the one who’s completely on top of things, the one who knows everything needed to know about everyone. But he’ll mention a colleague that you met once, for 10 minutes, years ago and you’ll ask “Is he still with Martha? She wanted to adopt a dog with him, a Siberian husky, and he seemed so scared of the commitment”. That’s scary. Makes him feel like he has a blind spot. Makes him wonder what you remember about him that even he doesn’t recall.
König is a difficult man to disgust and to scare. He’s seen a lot of things, and he himself is rather unsettling. But he’s scared and disgusted by some of your taste in movies. Things with long, painful torture scenes. All of the blood, flaying of skin, needles, ripping bones from flesh. It’s not so much that you enjoy these movies, but how you enjoy them. You lean against him, but not because you’re scared. You laugh in a way that you never do outside of watching a gorey scene, of someone crying on the floor with broken limbs. He shudders to imagine what you’d be like if you had his job.
Nikolai is unsettled by some of the fantasies you share with him, and how you convey them. Not things that you could really enact, just fantasies. “The other day I thought about being a mermaid— and you being a pirate that captured me to cut me up and sell my parts. But when you were about to cut me open you saw my cunt and decided to keep me as a fuckdoll instead, and fingered me right there with the butcher knife still on the table”. And you say it pretty nonchalantly. He’s honored that you trust him with these inner thoughts, and usually they turn him on completely, but it does creep him out just a little.

————
A Few Weeks Ago…
There is something wrong with me. There always has been. Something that sleeps beneath my skin, waiting, watching. It slithers and coils around me, settling in my ribs as I breathe. It raises its head when it senses the rising tension around me, ready to strike. But I can’t let it.
If I do, we’re all dead.
That’s why I’m here, strapped to a hospital bed in the middle of Malaysia, as far from home as I can get. The bindings around my wrists and ankles are tight enough to hurt, but it helps to keep the cloying fear at bay. The pain grounds me, reminding me why I’m here. Why I chose to be here.
The doctors and scientists run around me with clipboards and beeping monitors. They observe and report. They whisper and nod. I’m just something living and breathing before them, something expendable.
Maybe I always was.
You’re a murderer. You deserve worse.
I flinch, my wrists twisting against the bindings. These thoughts… They’ve been growing steadily darker and louder ever since…
I swallow. Breathing in and out, slowly, remembering what my shitty therapist from childhood used to instruct me to do when panic surged through me like a tidal wave I was drowning in.
I can’t let that happen, not here. I don’t want to hurt anyone. Not when they’re going to help me.
A familiar doctor catches my attention as she approaches my bed. Her smile and cadence reassuring. “It seems the results on your charts align with what we’re looking for. Everything is good to go. Are you ready to proceed?”
Nerves rumble in my gut through my veins, but I shove it far from my expression as I try to give her as much of a confident smile as I can. “Yes.”
She must see something in my face that has her smile wavering. She casts a quick look at the other doctors before stepping forward, leaning down to my eye level. “You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. It’s completely voluntary. You can opt out whenever you want, but after this, you won’t be able to say no. It’s no longer a trial period. This is the real thing. Something you can’t escape.”
Escape.
The word echoes in my mind like a familiar tune I’ve grown accustomed to all my life. Something I’ve heard, like a lullaby that reverberates through my skin and settles in my bones. I’ve been running for so long, escaping is all I know how to do.
But for once, I don’t want to escape.
I give her a firm nod, determination settling my nerves. “I’m sure. Trust me.”
She stares a moment longer before nodding, squeezing my hand before turning to the other doctors and speaking with them.
While they surround me, poking and prodding my skin with various needles, hooking me to machines, I’m reminded of lab rats. How they’re used for experiments to see if drugs would be harmful or helpful for the human body. I feel like a lab rat with the attention and cold distance they put between me and their research.
The poster I saw on the street last week for this trial was ominous and off-putting, but it didn’t stop hope from budding like a small seed growing in my sternum. It bloomed the moment I stepped into the building, volunteering for this medical research study on the human body.
After speaking with many different doctors, it seemed they could… help me. Fix me. Make me whole again.
For years, I’ve felt this hole in my chest where blood, muscle, and tissue should be. Instead, it’s something rotten and coiling, full of regret, devastation, and grief. It’s planted there ever since my sister died touching my skin after pulling my hair and calling me names. It grew and grew, poisoning me when fear controlled those around me. It was palpable, tasting bitter on the tongue. My parents feared me the most. Maybe that’s why their deaths sent me fleeing in the night, afraid and lost. Hoping to escape what I’ve become.
The doctors say whatever is inside of me can be cured. That this curse will no longer plague me.
As the anesthesia hits and my consciousness fades, that hope rings through me with a song so unfamiliar and poetic, I fall into the dark with open arms.
————
The In-Between…
The dark welcomes me, enveloping me as if we were old friends. I drift and dream.
And with dreams, come nightmares.
“What have you done?!” The words echo from a woman who looks so familiar, I can’t quite grasp exactly who she is.
A small body lies broken and lifeless before me, their eyes vacant and hollow, dripping black as if their tears are made of ink. Their skin glassy, as if they were a broken doll.
The woman continues to scream at me and when I stare back, she pales, stepping away from me. “What are you…”
I try to comfort her, stop her, help her, but she shoves away from me.
“This is your fault! You’re a monster!”
The dream morphs and fades, but the echo of the word “monster” rings through the dark. It’s only when the dream leaves that I realize the woman is my dead mother.
A new dream surfaces, this one just as suffocating. I’m trapped in a glass box. Sharp, needle-thin knives poking into my skin with every movement I make. Blood coats every inch of me, dripping from my skin. My eyes sting and my breaths come sharp and ragged. Voices echo outside of the box. I can barely make out the shapes of doctors and scientists and strange familiar faces all staring down at me.
“She deserves this.” One says, loud enough that it makes me flinch.
“Witch,” another spits.
“Murderer.”
“Monster.”
The term is so familiar, it doesn’t hurt as it should, but the knives ensure it does. They move, slowly, deliberately, sinking further into my skin. I scream and scream, but each word, every curse they hurl at me, it makes the blades cut deeper.
“She’d be better off dead.”
Tears fall fast down my cheeks, but it doesn’t stop the blinding pain from the sharp knives shredding me apart. Blood flowing down my limbs and pooling at my feet. Outside the box, they laugh and mock.
Please, I plead into the void. Please end this.
Please.
Something shifts. The hairs on my arms raise and there’s a strange sense of awareness. Like there’s something… other here.
Like I’m not alone.
“STOP.”
The dream-induced voices still at the command. When I look up from the puddle of blood at my feet, they’re gone. Shadows and dust in their wake.
When the pain disappears, so does the glass box and the blinding white room. Instead, raging wind caresses the stinging of my limbs. And when I glance down, the blood is gone. My arms and legs don’t sting or hurt. It’s all… gone.
In this new dream, I’m standing atop a cliff overlooking a restless sea.
This… This feels far more real than any dream before. Even before the blinding pain, this feels more solid. As if I’m actually here. The cold wind, sharp and unrelenting against my exposed skin. The clouds hanging heavily above with the smell of fresh rain in the air. It feels very real.
Too real.
“There you are.” A voice, deep and ominous, catches on the breeze.
I turn to find the dark silhouette of a man standing a few feet away. I can’t see any of his features, but it doesn’t matter. Something deep in my being tells me I know him. It pulls at my center, between my ribs, and I follow this feeling until I’m standing before him, staring up into a face dark and encased entirely in shadow. But his eyes… like living embers, they pierce into me. As if he, too, knows me. Feels as I do.
“I’ve been looking for you.”
I feel myself smile at the stranger’s words. As if his presence brings comfort where I was lost in chaos only moments before.
“You feel so…” I trail off, lost in the piercing ember of his gaze.
“Familiar?” If he could smile, I hear it in his voice.
I nod.
He steps closer, his hand raising to smooth back a strand of hair from my face. The touch is startlingly cold. But what’s frightening is how real it feels. Skin on skin. Fingertip to cheekbone.
This isn’t a dream. Or, at least, not a normal dream.
As if reading my thoughts or the emotions flitting across my features, he cups my cheek boldly. The touch feels so natural, I lean into it. His skin settling whatever rages deep within my chest.
“We are bound, you and I,” his words are whispered, soft and claiming. “Two souls meant to be intertwined for eternity. You were never meant to be alone. You will never be alone. Not while I exist.”
I close my eyes. Tears burning up my throat, threatening to fall. All I’ve ever been is alone. Entirely alone. I’m so sick of it.
“This isn’t real,” I whisper back.
His other hand is there, firm against my other cheek. He holds me, caresses me, like something precious. Like something whole. Like something worthy of affection.
“It’s not real, you’re right,” he says. “But soon enough, it will be.”
I furrow my brows. “What do you mean?”
His fingers reach to smooth the skin.
“I will find you, outside of this dream, this… in-between. And when I do,” he steps closer, forehead touching mine. “I will never let you go.”
The promise settles in my bones with a certainty I hope to hold on to.
“You’ll find me?” The hope is clear and whisper thin in my voice.
He nods against me, lips close to mine. “In every life, in every universe. Always.”
————
Present Day…
I wake in a panic. Lungs bursting as my eyes open to find I’m locked inside something that resembles a casket with a glass lid. It’s too dark to see clearly as my fingers flatten against the plexiglass, stifling anxiety clawing at my skin. Beads of sweat coat me like oil as I push and push at the glass.
Get out get out get out—
With one last shove, the lid is thrown open and crisp air hits me. I breathe deep as I crawl out of the strange crate, falling to the hard floor. Nausea rips through me and I’m hurling everything in my gut onto the floor.
There’s noise and voices around me, farther away, but I don’t care. My entire body is slumped and aching on the concrete floor. When I finally gain my senses and feel more present, I scan my surroundings. Various crates and boxes pile high around the strange casket I was lying in. The outline of my body is still there and monitors beep and sound as I try to stand. My legs are shaky, breaths coming rapidly, but I’m here. I’m… alive.
Why is that such a shock?
I stare down at the casket, trying to recall how I got there. The last thing I remember…
I remember lying on a table, talking to scientists and doctors about my condition. About the trial they would put me through. I remember strange dreams… but as I reach for them, they fade from my grasp. Typical.
“I-I-I’m Bob,” a voice sounds from farther in the room, but it’s so familiar, I still. “I told you, I’m, uh… Yeah, Bob.”
“Jesus Christ, stop saying Bob.” Another voice huffs in annoyance.
On shaking legs and bare feet, I creep around a stack of crates to find a group of strange-looking people. Three of them are dress heavily in gear and armor, guns pointed at a man in hospital garb, similar to my own. His dark wavy hair hangs in his face, framing pale features as he holds his hands up in surrender. His hands shake and his voice trembles as he stands there, watching as the three others bicker.
Something is frighteningly familiar about this man. Maybe that’s why I step forward without thought. When my feet move a gun shell on the floor, it alerts the others to my presence.
Guns whip around and are pointing at me within seconds.
“What the hell?” A tall man with a shield and mask shakes his head. “How many of these guys are in here?”
The short blonde woman near him points her gun at my head. “Who are you?”
I furrow my brows, raising my hands in surrender like the other guy. “Who are you? I just woke up in this place and I barely understand what’s going on.”
She slightly lowers her gun, most likely sensing I’m not truly a threat. Before she can answer, the other woman, this one with dark hair, strides forward. “I’m not sure what’s happening here, but you’re all exhausting, and my job is done.”
She tries to move away towards the large doors, but the blonde raises her gun at her. “Well, see my job is to keep an eye on you. So no, you’re not going to go anywhere, anymore.”
While they bicker and threaten, I lower my hands and glance over at the other guy— Bob, if I heard him correctly earlier. He’s staring at me with furrowed brows and pinched lips. When our eyes meet, something inside of me, that thing that coils beneath my skin, stirs.
How do I know him?
“Okay,” the blonde’s voice catches my attention as she points her gun away, raising her hands. “It’s clear we have all worked for Valentina in some sort of shadow ops capacity.”
Who the hell is Valentina?
I look back at Bob and he’s still staring at me, lost and confused. When I catch his eye, he looks swiftly away, fingers twitching as he shifts from foot to foot. Something in me wants to step forward and smooth the confusion from his face, reassuring him. That scares me more than the guns and weapons still being pointed in this room.
“Yeah, so?” The masked guy speaks up with obvious annoyance.
“So, all of this stuff is O.X.E.’s secrets. But, so are we.”
I look around at the crates. Secrets… O.X.E. was the name of the company I trialed with. I didn’t think much of it at the time, just hopeful that someone could help me. Maybe even save me.
I catch sight of another open casket not far from the doors, but this one isn’t mine. My eyes flit to Bob again, to the matching patient clothes I also wear. He looks just as disoriented and cautious as I do. Did he do the trial as well? What did he want? To become something more?
He’s no longer looking at me, but I can sense he’s still very much aware of me. Every breath I take. Just as I am of him. Instead, he watches the armed group come to a steady realization.
The dark haired woman nods her head. “Which makes us liabilities that no one would miss.”
“Well, speak for yourself.” The masked man, who’s really starting to annoy me, scoffs.
“Don’t you see? We are the evidence and this is the shredder,” the blonde emphasizes. “She wants us gone.”
They continue to argue, but it seems they won’t kill each other anymore. At least, for now.
As they talk and bicker, something inside of me shifts. The air begins to smell of sulfur, the temperature slowly rising. It’s subtle enough that normal human senses can’t tell the difference, but it’s enough to make me still, assessing. I glance around, noticing the large vats in the ceiling above us. They’re big enough to take up the entire roof.
Just as I realize what we’re standing in, it dawns on me. That thing inside of me, the thing I’ve felt beneath my skin, in my ribs, in my head— it’s still there.
They… I swallow, panic creeping up my spine at an alarming rate. They didn’t cure me.
The blood drains from my face as I step back, bumping into a crate. The group stills at the sound, whirling to me with various alert expressions.
“What’s going on with her?” The dark haired woman questions.
And suddenly, that thing in my chest, in my head, in my skin, it talks to me.
Her name is Ava Starr.
I almost fall backwards at the sound. I stare wide eyed at the woman. At Ava.
“Okay, you’re really starting to freak me out.”
My head swivels to the masked man and the voice is back. John Walker, former Captain America.
My chest begins to vibrate with heaving breaths. The room feels entirely too small and an incessant pounding continues in my ears. I grip at my chest, wondering if I rip at my skin and muscle, tearing at the bone, I can finally take whatever is inside of me, out.
“Breathe.”
The word echoes in my head, but it’s not my own. Not the same voice that was speaking before. No, this one is deeper, masculine.
My eyes catch on Bob again. Only this time, he’s staring at me with a level, sure gaze. Something steady and sure. Something grounding.
That thing inside me stills. It breathes at the command. It releases the tension in my muscles, the shaking in my limbs. It steadies me.
Whatever beast or monster hidden beneath my skin is tamed by that voice. And it’s curious and awake, vibrating in my chest like a living thing.
I ignore the feeling, hoping it goes away as I tear my gaze from him. Hoping this strange feeling of wanting to be closer to him will dissipate.
The blonde with the heavy accent raises a brow at me. “You alright?”
Yelena Belova, former Red Room assassin.
“We need to get out of here,” I whisper, but it’s loud enough for everyone in the room to hear.
The masked guy, John, shakes his head. “Yeah, no shit.”
“No,” I shake my head. “Can’t you feel it? The temperature is rising. It’s getting hotter in here.”
The group looks around before seeing the open vats above us.
“I think we’re in an incinerator,” Ava confirms.
“They’re going to burn us,” Yelena nods. “Destroy the evidence.”
“How would you know?” John calls out, clearly annoyed.
She gives him a bland look. “Why else would she send us here to kill each other? We’re obviously everything Valentina doesn’t want tied to her. We’re expendable.”
Dread pools in my stomach at the notion. Burning alive is not how I envisioned how I would die.
“Well,” Ava sighs. “I’m not sticking around to burn.”
In seconds, Ava is gone. Disappearing entirely as if she were a ghost.
Suddenly, blaring alarms ring through the room. I curl into myself, holding my hands over my ears. The sound rattles whatever is in me and the veins in my arms catch my attention. They shift from their normal blue to a deep navy to black before shifting back to normal again. It’s constant as the alarm rings and pulses against my skin.
I stare in horror. What the hell?
When the alarm finally stops, I glance up to find Bob is closer to me. His dark eyes are on me, on my arms, and I notice a strange gleam in his eyes that flashes before sputtering out like a dying fire.
“Are you okay?” He asks.
I stare a moment longer, wondering if I imagined the flaring ring of light in his eyes. I slowly nod. “I’m fine.”
He stays assessing me, as if… as if he’s ensuring I really am alright. As if he truly cares.
Ava is now shaking and holding her own ears in front of the still-sealed door. She pants before turning to the rest of us.
“Thanks for that,” John huffs. “Looks like none of us are leaving.”
Just as he says that, the lights flicker and new light casts the room in dark crimson. The air begins to fill with the smell of sulfur and ash. A clock begins to tick in the room. Red numbers next to one of the doors starts to count down. And it’s going incredibly fast.
John sighs. “Okay, fine, it’s an incinerator.”
“Oh boy,” Bob huffs, staring up at the ceiling. “That is no way to go.”
“How would you like to die today, Bob?”
Yelena shakes her head. “We’ll need to find a way out. Look around, we have to find some sort of panel or something to open the doors.”
Bob holds a hand out to me, gesturing to help me up from my crouched position.
“Thanks,” I murmur as I reach to take his hand.
The second our skin touches, my eyes dilate and the hair on my arms raise, goosebumps spreading up my limbs. A spark of vibrating energy pulses between us. Something living and tangible. It stirs whatever lies dormant inside of me.
Like calls to like, it whispers.
Bob searches my eyes, his are just as dilated and wide. His lips part, an exhale escaping him as he stares.
“Why do I feel like I know you?” He whispers.
I hesitate, but the confession slips from me like water through fingers. “You feel it too?”
He nods, his hand tightening around mine. “It’s strange. I don’t think we’ve ever met, but,” his eyes scan my face and it feels as if he were softly touching every part he’s looking at. “I feel like I’ve known you for a very long time.”
My breath catches.
And then, he smiles, nervous and small, a huff of laughter escaping him.
“What?”
He shakes his head. “It’s funny, every part of me tells me I know you, but I don’t even know your name.”
A small smile spreads on my lips. I whisper my name and the sound must resonate something in him cause he whispers it back, tentative and gentle. Almost reverent.
“And you’re Bob,” I smile wider. I nod to the clothes he’s wearing. “Looks like we both were looking for something more in our lives and didn’t expect this to happen instead.”
His smile freezes, eyes hardening before he swallows. “What makes you think that?”
I hesitate again, but this time, I willingly let him see that vulnerability. “I was looking for something more, too.”
He stares at me, questions flitting across his gaze.
“I found something!”
We both turn, our hands drifting apart and the live-wire energy dissipating as we find Yelena and Ava trying to open a panel on the side of one of the doors. When we make our way over, John punches the wires with his shield and Ava disappears again, shifting through the metal door.
The seconds begin to count down and the heat rises in the room. Fire and smoke start to sputter from the vats above. Unconsciously, I back into something solid behind me. Bob. His shoulder bumps into mine and his sturdy presence at my back is reassuring, calming the rising panic of being trapped in a room waiting to burn us all alive.
The clock flares in our peripheral, counting down, down, down, and the door still hasn’t opened.
“She’s coming back, right?” John’s question is full of broken hope.
My hands start to tremble, fear coursing through my veins. I can’t die here. I don’t want to die.
The thought must’ve been said aloud because Bob’s hand is sliding into mine, squeezing.
“You’re not going to die.” That voice, his voice, says in my mind. “I won’t let you.”
That pulsing energy between our skin continues at the touch. It’s comforting in this moment, even as the ticking of the countdown echoes through the room.
00:05
Bob steps closer, his torso encasing my back as the fire begins to burn brighter in the vats above.
00:04
I feel him tense, readying himself. His hand tightening in mine.
00:03
When I turn my face to look up at him, his eyes are already on me.
At least I won’t be alone.
00:02
The door screeches open, startling all of us. Ava stands before the control panel, gesturing for us to run.
Bob grips my hand tighter in his as we bolt. He pulls me with him while we run through the doorway, following after the others. I grip him tighter, ensuring we never let go.
When the incinerator fully ignites, torching everything in its wake, the pressure and velocity of the raging fire throws us all off our feet, flying forward. Rocks and stone crash above as my body slams into a wall harshly, bones and neck cracking against stone before I slump to the ground. Consciousness fades in and out, my head and body pounding with sharp bolts of pain. Just as the dark claims me, the last thing I feel is Bob’s calloused hand still cradling my own.
————
The In-Between…
I wake to the sound of screaming. The room is blinding white, fluorescent lights flickering above. It smells of antiseptic and something metallic. When the light dissipates, I see someone lying on a table, their small body convulsing. Their hair whips around as their restrained limbs and skin pulse with creeping black veins.
Realization dawns on me as I step closer.
It’s… it’s me. But I’m… much younger.
I remember this. I was nine when my power came into being. When it consumed me like a poison and sprang out of me like a disease.
Tears flow down her small cheeks as she struggles, a piece of cloth tied in her mouth to try and keep her screams quiet. I try to run forward, to help her, free her, but I’m frozen in place, my feet stuck to the floor. Something is keeping me from her.
In the corner of the room, a shadow bleeds from the white walls. It’s darkness dripping like ink as it spreads along the floor and tile. It stretches, like a hand, across the floor until it reaches younger me. She stills for a moment, before her eyes roll back into her head, veins bulging. I stare in horror as those veins begin to darken before black pulses along her skin to the beat of her heart.
I try to step away, to leave, but my legs won’t let me. I’m stuck in place, forced to watch.
From the shadows, something bleeds into the room, rising from it as if it were a doorway. They’re covered in the darkness, but it’s thick like ink or oil, dripping from their hair and skin. When the figure moves, I’m struck with the familiarity of their movement.
When their eyes meet mine, I shrink back. Their eyes are glowing chips of onyx, a black void as they stare back at me. But it’s not their eyes or features dripping in the black liquid, it’s the familiarity of their face and body. I’d know them anywhere.
Because it’s me.
I stare at myself with abject horror as they cock their head to the side, assessing me as if I were prey.
When my younger self convulses again on the table, it catches the creature’s attention— my attention. That thing that is-me-but-isn’t-me slithers forward, hovering over younger us. And that’s when I see it. The fading light emanating from the little girl’s chest. It’s faint, but brilliant. I see my other self hone in on that light.
“Stop!” I shout.
The other me stills, it’s slimy gaze meeting mine. “You cannot stop what is inevitable.”
I shake my head. “This isn’t real.”
It smiles and it’s something I’ve never seen on my own face. Something feral and hungry. “What makes you think it’s not?”
Younger me’s skin is ashen now, her dark veins bulging.
“What are you doing to her?” I try to step forward, but I’m held back, again.
The other me shrugs. “What you were born to become.”
The smell of rot and decay fill the air as the creature’s fingers trail a path up her small arm. Wherever it touches, the skin dies, withering. Nausea rises in my gut as younger me tries to twist away from her, but it’s no use. The light in her chest sputters. And when her eyes meet mine from across the room, I watch as a tear falls to the floor, her mouth gasping through uneven breaths.
“Stop!” I scream. “Stop you’re hurting her!”
The other me, the creature, tsks. “Always trying to be the hero.” It looks at me again and this time, it’s something final and knowing, like an omen. “You’ll never be the hero. You’re the one they all fear. What they’ll always fear. All you can do is embrace it.”
Her hand punches through the little girl’s chest and blood sprays the table and wall. Her scream reverberates off the walls as the monstrous version of me tears the light from her chest.
When its hand rises from the bone and muscle, blood drips down the pale skin, mixing with the strange dark liquid already coating its limbs. And in the creature’s hand, something shines bright and brilliant, like a diamond. It glitters and the light it casts feels almost sacred.
And the little girl is still. Eerily still.
“No,” I choke out, hands shaking. “No, this is wrong. This isn’t how any of this happened.”
Those pitless eyes stare into the brilliant light with awe and raw hunger. “It does not matter. It’s what you are made for. Just like him.”
I still. “Who?”
It turns their head to me, those depthless eyes void of any emotion. “Like calls to like.”
Something emerges from the darkness behind the other me. It’s form tall and imposing, a silhouette of a man. His eyes glow with a strange ember, the only light in his body made of shadow.
This time, when I step back, my feet are freed from whatever force that kept me prisoner. I’m able to back away slowly as the shadowed man tilts his head to the side, watching me.
“There you are.”
That voice…
The walls start to fracture and shake, groans echoing as the room begins to stir. The lights flicker above and everything starts to vibrate beneath my feet. The brilliant light still cradled in the hands of the dark version of me begins to sputter until it’s dim and fading. The other me takes one last look at me, scrambling against the wall, before opening her mouth and swallowing the light whole.
I tear my gaze away, only to immediately find Bob standing there, eyes wide and terrified as he stares back. I open my mouth to question him, but the room continues to crack and shake violently. The floor heaves and gives and a fissure opens beneath me, hurtling me into a swirling dark void below.
The last thing I hear is Bob screaming my name before the darkness swallows me whole.

I pressed the rag to my hand with a shaky inhale, watching as the white fabric turned pink from the cut, unable to stop the tears from spilling over.
This was the worst shift ever.
First I had to come in early to cover the host stand all because Esmeraie was having car troubles and I had a customer scream at me because I wouldn’t seat him and his wife as if I could magically make a table available. Then my very first table of the night ended up being absolutely horrendous. It was so damn busy tonight I’ve been running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I didn’t even realize I had cut myself on the plate I’d dropped until Chef pointed it out.
I’ve had no time to even think, Sevenda’s was a high end restaurant known for excellent service and even better food. I usually thrived in high-pressure situations but tonight was another bad night in an awful week and I was reaching my breaking point.
I let out another choked sob, my vision blurring with tears, I was hiding away in the thankfully empty break room. My coworkers had tried to help with the cut but I’d refused, snatching the rag out of Thane’s hand and running out of the kitchen before I started crying in front of them.
God it hurt like a fucking bitch. My hands were starting to shake and I tried to focus on finding a first aid kit but my mind was buzzing with the weight of my emotions, overstimulation setting in and making my breathing hitch my nerves felt like they were on fire.
I let out a painful whimper, digging the rag further into my skin as if it would erase the prickling pain that was seeping down to my bones.
I stayed like that for a few more minutes until the rag turned fully red, trying and failing to breathe only to cry harder. It didn’t help that the sight of my own blood made me lightheaded.
I didn’t even notice the door had opened until someone was standing right in front of me. Rhysand's citrus and sea scent invaded my senses and I tilted my head up to look at him.
Mortification instantly washed over me upon seeing my boss, and I reached my free hand to wipe away the tears. Hopefully I didn’t look too much like a mess. “H-Hi.”
There was a dark look in his gaze as he took me in. “What’s happened?” He demanded, his silky voice making shivers run up my spine. “I’m Fi-Fine.” I stammered out, trying to stabilize my voice but speaking only made more tears burst forward, when I calmed down I was going to strangle myself for appearing like this in front of the freaking owner.
My words seemed to have no effect on him and his large hands gently grabbed my injured one. I instinctively hissed in pain when he removed the rag from my palm. “I’m not gonna hurt you darling, I just need to see what’s going on so I can help you. Is that alright?”
He brushed his thumb soothingly against the uninjured skin of my wrist and I nodded. Biting on the inside of my cheeks to hopefully keep the tears at bay. It was really sweet that he took such good care of his employee’s but guilt slowly crept in, he had been meeting with some of his friends in the back offices.
Before I even had a chance to apologize for ruining someone’s meal and hiding from my tables the door opened again and two familiar men walked in. Rhysand’s brother’s helped him manage the restaurant occasionally. Apparently thing’s must really be crazy because they’ve spent more time here.
“Marissa told us what happened.” Cassian said practically shoving his brother aside to take a look at my hand. I winced at his rough touch and Rhysand shot him a glare. “Be careful.” He snapped under his breath.
Azriel was standing a few paces behind them, that intense stare settled on me and I wasn’t sure the male was even breathing. I could never get a good read on him. “I’m sorry for breaking the-the plate, I’m honestly fine, just need a bandage and I’m good to go.” I hiccuped, wiping my eyes again and taking a shuddering inhale. Doing my best to calm down and look presentable. These were my bosses afterall.
“We don’t care about that.” Rhysand said, softening his tone as he shot me a charming smile that had my insides melting. Cassian’s brows furrowed as he inspected my wound. “She needs a stitch or two.”
As soon as those words left his mouth it’s like someone doused my body in ice water. I snatched my hand from his. “No-No. It’s not that bad.” I spoke fearfully. Cassian stepped in front of me, blocking my view so it was just him and placed a new rag back on my hand, adding gentle pressure. The touch made my toes curl and I immediately banished those thoughts. They just didn’t want me to accidentally pass out, it was already bad enough I broke company property -again- was bleeding on the floor and hadn’t checked in my tables in fifteen minutes. “Really, it’s ok. I have tables. I promise I’ll get back to work- No hospital needed.”
“You will do no such thing.” Rhysand said from my side, his eyes still on my trembling hands. His tone leaves no room for argument. “Don’t worry sweetheart.” Cassian said softly, brushing a piece of my hair behind my ear.
His large muscled chest blocked my view so I didn’t see that Azriel had left the room but he returned with a small briefcase, setting it on the counter beside me and revealed what looks to be a small stash of high-grade medical supplies. I whimpered and stepped away, accidentally pressing myself to Rhysand’s side.
“Y-You are…You’re gonna stitch me up. H-Here?” I squealed out, nausea rolling in my gut. “Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.”
“We have numbing tools, it’ll only hurt for a moment I promise. Will you let us take care of you? We can take you to the hospital if you’d prefer. But either way you are not going to be walking around here with an open wound” Azriel finally spoke, that deep voice instantly soothing my nerves.
“Not to be rude…But do you know what you’re doing?” I eyed the small army of supplies suspiciously.
“Yes.” The three brothers shared a look I didn’t fully understand but Cassian looked like I just kicked his puppy and Azriel’s confidence helped me calm down.
“I didn’t know owning a restaurant was such a dangerous profession.” I quipped trying to distract myself.
Rhysand chuckled underneath his breath, making me realize how truly close I was standing to him. I tried to take a step back to at least keep some of my dignity intact but he pulled me even closer, heart spread across my cheeks. “You’d be surprised.”
Well.. That’s true I’d seen Roman with countless bandages, for someone who worked in the kitchen of a high-class restaurant you’d think he’d be better with a knife, he’d only told me it was ‘Part of his charm.’
A hospital scared me even worse, plus I would feel guilty. I nodded my agreement and Cassian lifted my wrist removing the rag. Both him and Azriel started cleaning it and I let out another whimper, black dots dancing in my vision at the sight of my own blood coming out of my body.
Rhysand titled my chin to look at him, those dark blue eyes almost looking violet in this lighting. “Talk to me about something.”
“Like what?”
“I don’t know, anything.”
I paused, suddenly all my thoughts emptying when prompted. I opened my mouth to respond but suddenly a sharp burning sensation spread throughout my entire hand and I squealed in pain, pressing my head into Rhysand’s shoulder. He shushed me comfortingly, running a hand up and down my spine in soothing motions until all the pain just…disappeared.
I pulled away to try and look at what they were doing to my hand. But he captured my attention with conversation once again. We talked about me losing my keys, my annoying neighbor playing loud music throughout all hours of the night, then eventually the rude customers at the host stand and the annoying tables I’d had. It was an easy conversation, making me forget all about my cut. Then I realized I was speaking badly about my job to the person who signed off on my paychecks.
God this blood loss was making me lose my damn-minded. The way they were taking care of me softened something inside of me. It made my walls slip and I made stupid mistakes like thinking they liked me or telling my bosses bad things about my job. They were respectful to my coworkers and I tried to force myself to remember I was just an employee.
It did however warm my heart how much they cared about their employee’s well being and I tried to tamper down the jealousy that they might’ve taken care of my coworkers like this as well.
We were extremely well taken care of here. Plus the tips were good which was surprising seeing as everyone knew rich people were monsters -Marisa told me it would be disrespectful to Rhys if they didn’t-. So they obviously had a good reputation for a reason.
So no, I was not going to risk a good job just because Rhys’ voice did things to my insides. That Cassian was making me laugh even as they sutured my hand and Azriel’s touch sent sparks down my spine. I tried to remind myself they were just good employers. Tried to not let it all get to my head
This really was just not my night.
Even if I would replay this moment in my head before I go to sleep every night in utter embarrassment, these were my freaking bosses and they had seen me crying and in pain. Not my best moment.
“Sorry…This is your restaurant. I like my job. Don’t fire me.” I spoke, playing it off with an awkward laugh but Rhysand just gave me another of those dazzling smiles. “Trust me, we’re not going to fire you.”
“All done.” Azriel spoke gruffly and I hadn’t even realized how much time had passed until I was staring at my newly bandaged palm. “Wow…Thank you guys! I truly am sorry about all of this. I promise to be more careful. It won’t happen again. I’ll get back to my tables.”
“You’re not going back to work.” They all spoke at the same time, those dark eyes settling on me until I squirmed slightly. They really were too attractive for their own good. Maybe I really did need to find a new job because god the things I wanted to do to these men was anything but professional.
“It’s a busy Saturday night, I’ve already been avoiding my tables for a long time. Marisa is going to kill me.”
“Wasn’t negotiable Darling.” Rhysand said in that demanding tone again.
“Rhysand, Sir-”
“We’ve talked about this. It’s Rhys.”
“Alright…..Rhys.” I appeased him even if it felt wrong, the nickname tasted unfamiliar on my tongue and way too intimate. “I promise I’m fine. You don’t have to do that.”
I had bills to pay after all, and as if he was reading my mind- “You’ll be reimbursed for the injury.”
I bit my lip anxiously, of course I was excited to go home and rest, maybe catch up on some trashy tv show but I would feel horrible leaving my coworkers all alone on a busy night like this. “Are you sure? If you need me I’m happy to stay, plus the injury was my fault-”
“We’ll see you next in a few days, get some good rest.” It was Azriel who spoke this time.
I nodded, giving them a soft smile. “Ok..well thank you so much guys I really appreciate it.”
After grabbing my things and going over how to take care of my wound with Azriel I left, thanking them again for their help. They really were great bosses.

strap smut with emily engstler? 👀
*₊˚୧༯.ೃ࿐✩₊˚.⋆☾₊✧ make you feel good,,
emily engstler x fem!reader (18+)
“emily.. that’s like, a lot.”
you express your weariness once you catch sight of the strap sitting beside your girlfriend on the bed. the two of you had been making out for what felt like hours, moaning and whining into each other’s mouths. you’d been sat on her lap, grinding helplessly into her as she guided your hips back and forth.
you decided you’d give in and let her use the strap on you, considering she’s been asking occasionally for the past few weeks. she was never pushy and always patient so you decided to try it out. once you saw it though, your subtle nerves started to grow into something stronger.
“your ex never fucked you? hm?” she attaches her lips to your jaw, kissing along the bone as you whimper shamelessly. you feel her smirk against your skin when you let out a shaky breath, feeling the need to grip onto her shoulders.
“they did but.. it was much smaller,”
she laughs at that, momentarily pausing her attack on your neck. she circles her thumbs on your hip as she pulls you impossibly closer, closing the gap between your lips. her kiss is hot and sloppy, her tongue meshing with your own once she manages to get it between your lips.
your girlfriend sits up, dropping your body onto the bed so you’re laying on your back with her fitting perfectly between your legs. she manages to never break the kiss, even as she lifts your shirt and unclips your bra. holding both your tits in her hand, she pinches just to feel the way your body jolts against hers.
“yeah? i’ll take care of you baby, don’t worry.”
she pulls away from you to strip, quickly tugging her sweatpants and boxer shorts down her legs. your anticipation was growing just by looking at her, watching her thighs slot themselves under your own. she reaches over you to grab the strap and your eyes followed her movements.
fuck, there’s no way that’s fitting inside you.
her fingers could stretch you out like nothing you’ve ever experienced before, effortlessly making you arch your back and moan her name. if that was only two or three fingers, you had no idea how you were going to manage more.
your mind quickly wanders elsewhere at the feeling of emily’s hands on your waist, pulling you further over her thighs. she’s massaging your skin because she knows. she can sense your nerves as if they were her own.
she kisses your collarbone and gently wraps a large hand around your throat. her other hand roams towards your underwear and she rubs two fingers over the dampness forming there. it makes your breath hitch in her ear, encouraging her to apply more pressure. you feel so sensitive to her touch, shamelessly moaning at the feeling of her body surrounding your own.
“you ready baby?” you nod, her hand coming up to cup your face as she kisses you gently.
your underwear is being pulled off your body quickly as emily runs her thumb over your wet folds, pushing between them to thrust a single finger into you. it makes the grip you have on her tighten, needing something to ground yourself due to the overwhelming pleasure.
within seconds she’s adding another finger, making a scissoring motion as she thrusts them into you. your arousal coats both her digits as they continue to split you open. your girlfriend feels intoxicated on the sound of your moans, losing patience as she desperately fights the urge to fuck you senseless.
emily pulls away, rubbing the slick onto the strap and savoring the rest for herself. she guides the silicone through your slick as you watch, propping yourself up on your elbows.
once she’s satisfied, she pushes in slowly, watching the tip of her strap disappear inside your slick walls. it turns her on so fucking much to see your eyes squeeze shut, letting your mouth fall open with a breathless moan. the feeling balances on the line between pain and pleasure as she pushes further into you, legs spread and shaky.
“doing so good baby, halfway there.”
“only halfway?!”
she kisses your worry away, somehow managing to slip the last few inches in before she pulls away. immediately, you moan out a loud ‘fuck’ and dig your nails into her skin. you’ve never felt so full in your life, not even with four of your girlfriends fingers buried deep inside you.
you have to adjust and emily knows that, giving you a few shallow thrusts before deciding you’re ready. her thrusts are quick and deep, both of her hands glued to your waist as she pulls you in. after letting go of her, your hands gravitate to your tits, cupping and supporting them as your head spins.
“you look s’pretty baby, feel good?”
you let out some incoherent mumble, inaudibly babbling about how good you feel and how deep she is. between your moans and her own, she can’t hear you. she dips her head down to yours, grabbing your chin and swiping her lips against your swollen ones.
“speak up,”
“yeah- yes, fuck! it’s so good em.”
“good,”
emily thinks she might finish just looking at you. back arched, eyes watery, fingers gripping the bed sheets as you call out her name. she swears her strap is a real extension of herself, able to feel you squeeze around the silicone. your girlfriend looks down and sees the way your pussy sucks her in, not missing your slick dripping onto the bed.
“wanna know how good you feel, tell me.”
“oh fuucck, s’good. never been fucked s’good before emily- fuck.”
emily leans down, sucking hickeys on your neck and thrusting into you simultaneously. one of her hands finds your clit, rubbing sloppy figure-eights on your throbbing bud. your legs wrap around her as they shake uncontrollably. the pain of being stretched is long forgotten as she hits your g-spot, legs and eyes clamping shut as the feeling in your stomach threatens to tip over the edge.
“gonna fucking cum- please em.”
she says nothing, too focused on making you feel good. when you let out the most pornographic moan either of you have ever heard, she knows you’re finished.
seconds later you’re clawing at her back, crying out obscenities as you cum around her. she slows down her thrusts as you come down from your high completely blissed out. your drop your thighs, already feeling the ache between them from emily’s fast pace.
when she finally pulls out of you, your slick creates strings of arousal between you. she dips her fingers into your slick to taste you; your taste alone is enough to drive her crazy all over again. she refrains though, the sight of you laid flat beneath her a clear sign that you’re fucked out.
“still think it’s too much?”
“shut up.”

TIL’ WE MEET AGAIN | Young!Silco x Fem!Reader
Series Summary; Silco tells a new story to a curious Jinx.
Warnings; Angst, pre-canon, hurt/comfort, Zaunites, Piltians, revolution, violence, blood, gore, drinking, smoking, gambling, swearing, sex, brothels, drugs, slow burn, the reader is a coward at first, original character (Wynn), strangers to lovers, bittersweet, Old Silco being weirdly sentimental, Jinx being noisy, and major character death.
PREVIOUS CHAPTER | NEXT CHAPTER | MASTERLIST
Silco's office door closes when Sevika takes her leave, his dual eyes stare indifferently into the wooden entrance.
Briefly resting his face on his hand so he can rub at his cheek bone. He flickers his irritation to the paper in front of him, reading through the documents neatly arranged on his desk. Flipping through it–His lengthy fingers daintaly holding up each page before letting them fall back in place.
Through habit he moves his chair to the left of the desk, opening up the middle drawer, taking out a small compact box, shutting the thing closed and placing the wooden box on the side of the desk, aiming to not dirty the papers. He opens the humidor, four expensive cigars lay neatly inside. Taking one of the sticks and the straight cutters, he fixes the cigar between his fingers and brings the sheers to the front and slides the stick in between the blades, and shuts the guillotine.
SNAP!
He rolls back and turns the chair to face the large window, so that the green light that pours into the room which not only illuminates the furniture, but the kingpin as well–highlighting his features. His good eye blends with the light, the seafoam green melting away a stark contrast from the damaged one. The green clashes against the bright angry orange, the toxic waters of the Undercity fully displayed on the left of his face, the hard horrors of his youth.
Finally, he slips his hand into his vest. His delicate fingers glided over the finely knitted fabric of his striped burgundy shirt before delving into the soft contours of the breast pocket. With a practiced motion, his digits deftly retrieve a small, rectangular item. Something cold to the touch against his fingertips, the metal texture bumpy and slightly damaged.
It's a lighter. Gray and metallic with a fancy lace eloping it–vines and roses, perfectly crafted to be comfortable to hold while simultaneously being bold and beautiful even with scratches and dents along the body. Silco caressed the carvings with the pad of his thumb. Specifically a scratchy name on the front of it. Until he was holding it properly, he extended it enough to flick the small thing open and ignite it.
The flame dances dimly, alone. Slico rolls the cigar in his fingers and hovers it over the fire, lighting the end of it. Flicking the lighter closed, he takes a long drag of the cigar. Savoring the smoke he inhales, holding the earthy smoke in his mouth. Not letting it fester for too long he puffs it out.
Above him is an audible creaking followed by a loud thunk behind him, just then he felt his eye send a sharp pain throughout his face. He takes another drag, hoping that it eases his nerves. It does not. Huffing it out he turns the chair to face the girl sitting impatiently on his desk. Strews of papers now scattered about. Screw organization.
"You have impeccable timing," Jinx smiles and tilts her head side to side while lazily whipping the end of one of her braids of hair in a swirling motion. Jinx then scoots forward. The papers crumpled under her butt make the scooting easier, some falling off the edge. She places her feet in between Silcos spread legs, planting them firmly in place and with most of her leg strength she easily moves the chair with the bemused kingpin closer to the desk. The chair creaked as she did so. Jinx blows a raspberry and guiltily giggles.
"Pfft- yeah just the best of timing, heh" She snatches the device out of the top drawer. Moving her legs she turns the chair to the right to pull him even closer, the armrest bumps roughly into the desk. Jinx plops her legs on top of his kicking her feet under the other armrest. The kingpin throughout this doesn't seem bothered, used to his daughter's theatrics.
"You mustn't spy on me when I'm in a meeting" Silco narrows his eye at her, no actual malice in his expression. He positions the cigar away, so she doesn't smell it when he gently places it in the ashtray, not snubbing it out.
"Wasn't spying — just watching Ms. Righty" Jinx chuckles at her own morbid nickname, and drapes her forearm on Silcos head, as she leans on the chair. The device occasionally tapped against his temple. The blue-haired girl whines about being bored and how Sevika won't let her on jobs. Calling his right-hand an ogre that isn't cool or fun–but is, however, currently green as Jinx had shot her with paintballs. The reason why Sevika was fuming in his office not too long ago. Silco listens, nodding his head along to her rambles in a tired fatherly way. In his right hand he fidgets with the lighter. The glint reflecting off the window light brings the small thing to Jinx's attention. Abruptly stopping in the middle of her rant, watercolor eyes flickering at the silver most importantly at the poorly written name on the front of it.
"Watch'ya got there?" She hitches her leg up on the arm of the chair and rests her tilting head on her knee, unblinking eyes stare at the item in his hand. Silco unclenches the lighter and grips it with his fingers slowly handing it to the curious baby blue. She quickly picks the thing out of his grasp after dropping the device on the table with a low clank. She brings the lighter closer to her face, so she can fix on the smudged words, muttering under her breath "is that a 'a' or an 'b' or maybe a-?" she would've gone through the entire alphabet if Silco had not said her name to pull her out of her thoughts.
"What does this say, can you tell me?" Frantic, she moves the light far away from her face, dramatically turning her head to the patient kingpin, his hands hanging loosely between his thighs humming in a low tune, debating on entertaining her offbeat curiosity.
"Aww' c'mon I'm dying of boredom here!" Jinx flails around her spot before falling onto her back with her arms spread out on the desk, her head is to the left looking at the metal rectangle with a pout. Twirling it with her pink and blue nails. Silco sighs, looking at his suddenly sad daughter–he knows she's just playing him, he caves anyways. Not without teaching about bartering, when a certain stinging sensation occurs. The nerves of his left eye spread out to his scarred side, eating away at him.
"Administer my medicine, then I'll think about it" Jinx pouts, but hands him the lighter anyway. Grabbing the device that was left on the table. "Finnee-" Grumbling, she moves forward so she's close to his face and places the contraption over his eye. She waits, eyes flickering from the button on top to his bad eye. When her gaze finally looks at the good eye, she presses the button. Instantly, he shoots forward, straining in his seat as Jinx still holds onto his jaw. He tightens his grip on the light. The dose of shimmer elopes his eye–the red widening before shrinking back to an orange. The purple substance fighting away at the toxins left behind, a single shimmer tear runs down his scarred cheek.
"Done! Now, tell me!" Jinx haphazardly drops the medical device on the desk, again. Pulling up her legs on the arm, so she can rest her head on knees, and dig her colorful nails into her muted maroon pants. She puts most of her body weight on the side of the chair, making it dip only slightly. Waiting for her father to catch his breath and follow up on his end of the bargain. Slicking his salt and pepper hair back, he leans into the chair. Adjusting his sitting and wiping away the tear before answering her.
"It reads Lady."
"Why does it say that and why do you have something that says that and why is it so badly written?-" He sighs, still rubbing at the now disappeared shimmer. Jinx's questioning doesn't throw him off, his eyes narrow in amusement. "Will it ease your curious need about my youth if I told you it was from an old friend?" Jinx gives him a weird look.
"I thought you said we shouldn't hold onto the past and blah blah blah" Jinx begins to flap her hand in a talking motion. He grabs her wrist, making her look him in the eye. His face was serious.
"We shouldn't hold onto the past and let it consume us." He says sternly, letting her go when she begrudgingly nods. Jinx notices a fondness lit in his eye, as he then gestures to the lighter in his hand. The flame, as quickly as it appeared, dims away.
"That is more or less something nostalgic, a keepsake out of appreciation" Jinx looks at him then the lighter, then back at him. "For who?" Jinx asks. Silco smirks.
"An old friend"
"UGHHH" She dramatically flops down again, crossing her arms. Jinx begins to spin Silco, moving her legs accordingly, in an attempt at a punishment for making vague remarks. Silco lets her for only a moment, stopping her when he's fully faced in front of her by taking the leg off the armrest and letting it drop to the floor next to the other. Silco hums in thought.
"It was...from a past love of mine" From her sitting position, Jinx snaps her head up. Her attention gained back. She's not perturbed by this new information, her curiosity only grows. "Hehehe, you fancied someone?" She giggles, hunching over. Her hands either side of her thighs gripping the edge of the desk and kicking her hanging feet.
"Mhm, I did..." As memories of the past flood his mind, he forcefully wrestles himself from saying ‘I do’ . The past should linger in the past, and in the palm of his hand like a burdensome weight. Despite this, his thumb still circles around the lighter. In response, Jinx visibly slouched, her frown growing more pronounced.
"What happened?" Jinx knows now that this friend is no longer here, someone who was once close to her father–she began thinking. Her gaze flicks restless between Silco’s eyes, her hands fidgeting as they cling together. Her thumb incessantly rubs against her palm, creating a raw spot on her skin. Sensing the tension, Silco quietly places his hand on her knee, tenderly tracing comforting lines with his fingertips to ease her away from the rhythmic rubbing and her own reminiscing.
He knows Jinx would ask non-stop about this subject, as if she were still the 12 year old that he took in years ago. Even if he did indulge Jinx in her possible endless quest of nagging him til’ he complies. He would have no idea where to begin, he’s sure that his late-companion would tell it differently, albeit dramatically. Jinx has learned through his lectures of betrayal, perhaps one on loyalty might have the same effect.
"What happened to most Zaunites during the revolutionary years-" Silco lifts his head smoothly, his gaze hardening with growing anger. Behind the pride he feels for his expanding nation, he holds a knife to the throat of the ‘Nation of Progress’ Silco’s thoughts travel back to his last moment with her, realizing the irony that lies within the nickname of Piltover. With a cool deliberateness, Sico carefully considers his next words as he looks at his daughter. Who is seated with uncharacteristic patience.
The cigar in the tray burns, forgotten. "-Perishing with no name under the cold gold-plated boot of Piltover"

i crumble completely (when you cry)
pairing: sebastian sallow x fem ravenclaw reader
summary: there's only one way to get into salazar slytherin's scriptorium.
a/n: hogwarts legacy was 70% off, i bought it and it's good but not good enough in all the ways that matter so im fixing it for myself. no i dont know why this is where my inspo is when i have so much unfinished stuff but just go with it
wc: 2.1k
warning(s): angst but hurt/comfort angst! a more in depth scriptorium scene so crucio is used but this is from seb's pov so lighter descriptions of all that fun stuff

“Ominis, you have to.”
“I’m not doing it!” he exclaimed. “What do you not get?”
“Would you rather die here?” Sebastian spat. “Because if you don’t, that’s what will happen. And I’ve become rather fond of my life over these past few minutes.”
“I refuse to use dark magic,” Ominis seethed. “You of all people should understand, Sebastian!”
“I don’t understand why you’d let us die instead of casting one spell!”
He barked an incredulous laugh. “It is not just one spell! God, you—”
“Can you do it?”
Sebastian’s anger faltered for a moment when you spoke up, and he frowned when he saw you were looking at him. “What?”
“Can you do it?” you repeated. “Can you cast the curse?”
“I—” His mouth fell open and shut as he looked between you and Ominis, before they finally settled on you. “—I think so. Not well, but—”
“Then you can do it,” you said. “Cast it on me, and we’ll be out of this mess.”
Sebastian’s eyes widened as he said your name in disbelief. “You can’t be serious!”
You stared at him. “Do I look like I’m joking?”
“You’re being ridiculous,” Ominis cut in. “I know what it feels like—you’re not putting yourself through that. We’ll find another way.”
“There is no other way.” You gestured at the letters on the ground, his aunt’s last mark on the world. “You’ve got the answer right here, and a willing victim. What are you waiting for?”
Sebastian grimaced. “Calling yourself a victim isn’t helping.”
“The only reason you’re willing is because you don’t know what you’re signing up for.” Ominis’s blank gaze pointed at the ground, but his sharp words hit you all the same. “It’s unimaginable, excruciating pain. Every one of your nerves exploding, your bones being crushed to dust, your blood turning to fire. You will never forget what it feels like.”
You crossed your arms, trying to ignore the chill settling over you. “Well, it’s either that or we sit around here until we die.”
“Even if he wanted to—”
“Which I don’t!” Sebastian cut in.
“He would have to really mean it,” Ominis finished.
“Again, which I don’t!” he exclaimed.
“That just means it won’t hurt as much,” you said. “Should take away some of your reservations.”
Sebastian huffed. “There is something wrong with you.”
“And you were all for this when it would be Ominis casting it on me?” you asked, tilting your head.
“I— I figured he would cast it on me!” His eyes widened. “I— I could teach it to you, and you could cast it on me!”
“Will the two of you stop bickering?” Ominis asked. “It’s not making this any better.”
“Of course,” you nodded. “Sebastian will cast the Cruciatus Curse on me, and we’ll be out of here. Okay?”
Sebastian stared at you, your steely gaze having already met his. You’d always been stubborn, unyielding—he’d known it since you bested him in a duel in your first ever meeting.
Ravenclaw hardheadedness, he figured. Always assuming you knew best (you usually did), that you were right (you usually were), that you could handle whatever ended up in your path (you usually could).
And here you were, standing right in front of him, those determined eyes unwavering as you practically begged him to cast an Unforgivable Curse on you.
Did you know that he wasn’t even sure he could cast it on you? Not just because it was near unthinkable, but because he had no idea if he could scrounge up enough ill will towards you to even partially want to hurt you.
Did you know that you were the reason he’d started doing better in classes? That, no matter how much he complained about your study sessions together, that he could have been doing something much more productive, he treasured every moment with you?
Did you even know that the mere thought of causing you pain made him want to retch? That, yes, he may very well choose death over imparting the torture curse on you?
Did you even know how he felt about you?
Sebastian pulled his wand out his robes, his grip tightening in an effort to stop his hand from shaking. “You’re sure about this.”
You nodded. “It won’t leave any physical wounds. It’ll be over sooner than you know it.”
He huffed as he glanced away. “You shouldn’t be the one reassuring me.”
“I don’t mind,” you shrugged. “Just… buy me a pint of butterbeer when we get out of here. Then we’ll be square.”
“You’re not exactly aiming high,” Sebastian said wryly.
You smiled. “My mum always told me it was the simple things. Now, do it before I lose my nerve.”
He swallowed the lump in his throat and nodded, once, twice, three times as he adjusted his hold on his wand. He closed his eyes as he tried to remember the wand movement, but instead, he saw your face.
The first time he met you, when you embarrassed him in front of the whole class by beating him ina duel. When you asked him to take you to Hogsmeade for the first time, and you ended up taking down a troll—how beautiful you looked with the glow of exertion beneath your skin, when you turned to him with the widest (and maybe first) smile he’d ever seen from you in the wake of your efforts.
How could he do something like this to you?
He pushed the doubt down. There was no other way. You wanted him to do it—wanted him to save them all from a very boring, very preventable death.
Something in the scriptorium could save Anne. That was worth anything.
Sebastian took in a deep breath. He brought forth every negative thought—the goblin that cursed his sister, his housemates that believed in nothing but blood purity, his uncle that refused to believe in him, refused to even try to save Anne.
None of it to do with you, who had done nothing but support him since you helped him up from the ground after pummeling him into it, but he tried to project it onto you anyways.
He raised his wand.
He opened his eyes—your gaze hadn’t moved. They showed no fear, no anger, no emotion at all but steely determination.
“Crucio!”
Red light arced from his wand to your body. You crumpled to your knees the instant the spell reached you, skull-splintering screams echoing throughout the small room as the curse wrapped its way around you.
Your scarf fell from your neck, your robes pooled around you, your knees and palms scraped the stone as you tried to support yourself in any way. Your agonized wails were deafening, and Sebastian nearly lost it right then and there, nausea rising in his throat. Ominis’s blank, widened gaze fell on the wall, his hands clenched into fists as he fought to keep his expression even.
You were one of the strongest people Sebastian knew. Always infallible, always so smart, so level headed in the face of his impulsivity. Naturally gifted at magic, and somehow willing to tolerate him. And he’d been forced to reduce you to this.
But it worked. Your screams of pure torment unlocked something in Salazar Slytherin’s sick design, and the door of tortured faces pulsed with red energy before sliding into the stone.
Sebastian rushed over the moment the door started to open, his wand falling from his grasp in his haste and his eyes wide with fear and concern. He went to touch you, but stopped just before he could—he didn’t want to hurt you more. Your entire body rose and fell with your beleaguered breaths as you rolled on your side, your every movement labored.
“I’m so sorry,” he breathed. “I— I’m so sorry. Are you okay?”
You couldn’t respond, the pain still arcing its way through your body despite the curse being done. You inhaled sharply as your eyes screwed shut, and you nodded.
“You’re clearly not okay.” The slight waver in Ominis’s voice betrayed his unaffected stature. “That was remarkably stupid.”
“Ominis—” Sebastian started, but you shook your head.
“It worked,” you interrupted as you lifted a shaky hand to point at the now revealed scriptorium. “Couldn’t… couldn’t be too stupid… could it?”
“There is something wrong with you,” he whispered. You could only manage a pained laugh at his words.
Sebastian stayed there with you as you fought through the last few convulsions—he said nothing when you grabbed his hand, bit back his wince when you squeezed tighter than a vice. After what you just went through, he could bear something so small.
Your breathing was still labored when he finally helped you up. Your legs nearly collapsed beneath you, but he kept you upright.
“You’re okay,” he whispered, desperate to reassure you. “You— you’re okay.”
“I told you I would be,” you said.
“You did,” he conceded. “I keep forgetting you’re always right.”
He got the slightest smile from you at that. Sebastian glanced over when he heard footsteps, and he saw Ominis approaching. His whole body still held a tenseness, but he was sure it was for a different reason this time.
“…You took that well,” he finally said, and he held out your scarf.
Again, another laugh and another wince. “I really didn’t. But thank you.”
You reached for the scarf, but Sebastian got to it first. He gently draped it around your neck, taking special care to keep the Ravenclaw emblem in the front. You had a lot of pride in your house.
“How’s that?” he asked softly.
“Perfect,” you nodded. “Thank you.”
He nodded too, and Ominis cleared his throat. Sebastian turned back to him, his cheeks tinted slightly pink. Ominis held his wand, and he took it back before shoving it back into his robes. Casting any sort of spell felt dirtied right now.
“Thank you,” he said. “I… I’m sorry about all this.”
“…Thank you,” Ominis echoed. “Let’s just get out of here before any more of Slytherin’s tricks find us.”
“No arguments here,” you mumbled.
Ominis walked in, and though your eyes followed him, you lingered back with Sebastian. He still supported you, one of his arms interlocked with yours. A part of him was worried that you would collapse again the second he stepped away. He could feel your chilled skin even through your robes—no wonder you always wore your scarf. You ran colder than a mermaid.
“I’m so sorry,” Sebastian said quietly.
“You already said that.”
“Because it’s true,” he said. “These curses are unforgivable for a reason. You never should have had to go through this.”
“Well, I forgive you,” you said. “We had no choice, and I asked you to do it. And,” you gave him a wry look, “it didn’t hurt that much, so you clearly didn’t mean it.”
He couldn’t even laugh at that—he kept hearing your piercing screams, agony beyond all reason. He would surely hear them for weeks to come in his sleep, see your prone form every time he closed his eyes.
He felt you nudge him in the side. “Hey. Perk up. I’m okay. Besides,” you gave him a sideways smile, “Rowena would be proud. Anything in the name of knowledge, eh?”
That got the slightest of smiles out of him, and he shook his head. “There’s—”
“Something wrong with me, I know. That’s the third time today.” You tilted your head towards the scriptorium. “Now, shall we get what we suffered for?”
Sebastian nodded, and the two of you walked in, him still supporting you. Ominis had already made his way up the stairs—he really did want to get out as soon as possible. You had your wand in your free hand and had already murmured a quick Revelio, eyes darting around in an effort to unearth any secrets.
“That brain of yours never stops, does it?”
Your lips quirked. “Never.”
Another beat of silence as you searched the alcoves together. He couldn’t help but watch you—you were a Ravenclaw in her natural habitat. Your brow creased just so, your pretty features honed to a single point of focus, cycling through all your thoughts at breakneck speed despite what you just went through. It made his heart swell with something he couldn’t quite name, right beside a gnawing hole filled with guilt.
“I really do owe you a pint,” Sebastian murmured.
You laughed. Lighter, this time, and with only the slightest grimace. “Make that two.”
A smile crossed his lips without him even thinking. Sebastian was so glad he had you in his life—he was only sorry he had to wait until fifth year.
“Deal.”

Shameless
Warning ⚠️; internalized homophobia, Homelander is his own warning, toxic relationship, abusive relationship, fluff. 🔞
Pairing; Bottom!Homelander/Top!Male!Reader
Summary; John and you are two opposites. He is a comedian and a liar, you are bluntly honest and direct. He cares about his image, you don't. He is ashamed of your relationship while you are shameless.
~~~~~~~~~~~
You sat on the sofa sipping at your drink, eyes staring at John with amusement. Still in his costume, your lover walked in circle while biting his nail. He looked ridiculous in your eyes. All those fake muscles and the cape were too much. He looked always better naked, natural, and not so fake.
- “You are going to get yourself dizzy, my love. Just get out of those ridiculous clothes and come sit with me.” You said, waving your hand to show his costume. “We have so little time together, I would prefer having you by my side than whatever you are doing right now.”
John stared at you, eyes glowing red and you just laughed at him. You weren't scared, never was, because John couldn't kill you. No one could. It was part of your power, your curse, but in a moment like this, it was a blessing. Watching your lover get worked up for nothing was funny.
- “How can you laugh in such a situation?” John asked, voice hissing at you as you rolled your eyes. “Its a disaster! I cannot be seen like… like…”
- “Like the man you truly are?” You finished his sentence, sighing. “John, no one cares about that picture. Everyone will call it fake and those who don't, well who cares? Just discredit them and forget about it.”
John said nothing and looked away, his eyes back to normal. You shook your head as he kept walking around the room, trying to find a solution. You didn't understand him. Why come to you when you couldn't help when you were the source of this situation? Well, you weren't fully responsible. It wasn't you who had decided to kiss on a rooftop where anyone could see, that had been John.
And now there was a picture of you two kissing, your hands squeezing Homelander’s ass, circulating around the internet. It was, for you, hilarious. For John? The end of the world was happening.
- “Can't you stop being overly dramatic for five minutes?” You asked, harsher than you wanted.
You gasped in surprise as the back of your head hit the floor, hard, making you see stars. John had pined you down after knocking over the sofa and sat on you. You shivered, licking your lips as you plunged your gaze into his glowing one.
- “And can't you take it seriously for once? Don't you realize how serious the situation is for me? I am supposed to be perfect with no weaknesses and I can not be seen like that with another man.” John spat, his hand grabbing your chin painfully tight.
- “But you are not perfect John and you'll never be!” You replied with a sneer.
It was the wrong answer because next thing you knew John punched you and pain exploded in your jaw. Blood splashed all over your lover and you as your jaw hit the wall and fell onto the ground. From anger, John expression turned to horror as he realized what he had done. From amused, you became enraged.
You didn't gave John any chance and kicked him in the chest, sending the sup flying against the ceiling. You watched your lover fall loudly on the ground as you got up, spilling blood all over the place. You closed your eyes, pain swallowing you up as nerves, bones and everything else slowly regrew. Tears slowly rolled down your cheeks as you felt like your lower jaw was burning in the fiery pits of Hell.
You heard John begging, swearing he didn't mean to hurt you like that and you didn't care. What mattered was how he still did it.
You opened your eyes staring angrily at the hero still lying on the ground. You walked up to him and saw John tensing and closing on himself before you grabbed the man by the collar. Without a word, you back-slapped like he was a bitch, splitting open his lip before grabbing his jaw like he did to you. You leaned down until your nose brushed his.
- “Listen here you pathetic excuse of a man; you are nothing. You are not a hero, you are not perfect and you are not an inspiration. The only thing you are is a childish man who can't take no for an answer and can't live without the approval of the world.” Your words hit home as you saw tears building up in John’s eyes and you sneered again. “You are pathetic. Truly pathetic. The world loves the fake image of you and would turn on you at the first opportunity. Their love is conditional unlike mine and yet you chose those worms over me. I who had always been here for you no matter what. I who helped you bond with your bastard son and helped you when no one wanted to. I bloodied my hands for you! And after everything that how you thank me?”
Venom filled your words as you stared at your lover. John was silently crying and looked away, not daring to look at you. You felt betrayed, and humiliated. You did so much for that man child and he turned against you so easily. You didn't want to see him anymore, wanted him gone from your sight.
- “Think about it John. Who will take care of you when you are old and your body is betraying you? Who will be there for you when the world cheer for a younger and more attractive hero? Them? Your so-called fans? No. They won't, but I would have.” You said, turning your back to him as you walked away. “Now get out.”
- “I’m sorry! I didn't…” John tried but stopped as you turned your head, eyes filled with anger.
- “GET OUT.” You snarled.
And just like that John was gone. A soft breeze caressed your face after he flew away. Sighing, you cleaned the room and threw away your jaw. The pain still lingered and you massaged your chin before sighing. You hated fighting with John like that, but recently it was every other day. The more time passed the more he became unhinged and impulsive. You could barely recognize the man who sought love and attention, the man who melted under your hands at night seemed gone.
It was late that night when John came back. He didn't call, didn't text. He just showed up. You were in bed reading a book in the light of a candle when you heard your front door opening. Only John had a spare so you knew it was him.
He didn't come up directly and you ignored him. You were still angry at his stunt and, frankly, didn't wish to see him. Not right now, not tomorrow. But there he was, walking into your home as if it was his.
After a few minutes, you heard John walking up the stairs and coming toward your room. You didn't look up when he entered nor when he called your name with a timid and soft voice. Instead you clenched your book harder.
- “I thought I told you to get the fuck out of my house, John. What are you doing here?” You asked, voice cold as you turned the page of your book.
Your lover didn't answer. Instead, John approached the bed and put down a mix of things; a gift basket filled with your favorite snacks and drinks and another full of books. Sighing, you closed your book and turned your attention on John.
There he stood in civilian clothes and his head low. His eyes were still red and puffy from crying. Had you not been angry at him you would have hugged John. But you were still pissed off.
- “I am so sorry for what I did and said.” John whispered, looking away as he sat on the edge of the mattress. “I have no excuses and you are right. You've always been there for me and you didn't deserve any of this, but I did.”
You could see tears in his eyes and the sight was almost pitiful. Of course, John couldn't live up with what he did and would regret his actions. You didn't. The brat had deserved your words and hands.
- “I don't want… I can not lose you…” John whispered so low that you barely heard it.
You sighed and leaned back against your pillows, crossing your arms and studying him. John was clearly remorseful and you knew he had his lesson, for now at least. Shaking your head you gently tapped the mattress next to you and John didn't wait to lay down. He wrapped his arms around you and nuzzled his face against your chest. You brushed his blond hair with your fingers, heart almost getting softer as you saw how happy he was now.
- “You are losing me, John. I don't know what the fuck is going on with you, but stop it. I don't have the patience to deal with your childish tantrum just because a picture of us leaked on the internet. We are celebrities, it's going to keep happening.” You said and your lover held you tighter. “Hush now. I forgive you this time, but I might not give you another chance.”
John nodded and didn't let go. You kept brushing his hair and let your fingers down his neck. He was cold, colder than normal and you could feel his heartbeat racing. He was scared and terrified which pleased you. Maybe he wouldn't go against you anymore, maybe he would stop thinking he could do as he wished.
After all, he was your pet, yours to use as you wished and you couldn't have a bad dog by your side. As much as you loved John, you didn't want him if he was to lose his mind and become a liability. But at that moment he looked so small and delicate in your arms, almost broken and you couldn't resist him.
You smiled as you felt his body relax against you as he slowly fell asleep. Maybe you could use his fear and remorse against him. Maybe you could force him to come clean about your relationship. Not now, the fight was still too fresh but soon enough he might give in. And once you were out to the world, John would truly be yours entirely.
ALL THE THINGS WE LEFT UNSAID — NSFW TEASER
Tengen’s Bundle of Joy • secret pregnancy AU
A/N: oh yeah, this isn’t going to go wrong in the slightest, not at all —
CW: MDNI • explicit sexual content below
READ THE PROLOGUE HERE
Uzui slumps against the doorframe with a quiet exhale. “Look at you.”
The sound of his voice is enough to set you on edge, but the sight of him nearly knocks you over. It’s unfair that such an insufferable pain in the ass would be so damn pretty.
You scowl and the child in your belly shifts, sensing your unease. “Get out. I’m in no mood for your insults or mockeries —“
“You’re beautiful.” He chances a single, cautious step past the entryway, eyes dazed as he stares at you, as though in a trance.
“Why are you here?”
That seems to catch his attention, the dazed fog in his eyes clearing with a few, quick blinks. “I wanted to see how you were.” He swallows, hard. “How you both were.”
Warily, you step back, turning your hips away from him. “You’ve known where I was for months, and you wait until now?” You don’t bother to hold back the chill in your tone. Better to keep the distance between you firm rather than have to make up the slack when he inevitably decides to cross your boundaries.
——
“I can help,” his exhale is hot against your neck, though not more so than his hands as they skim down your shoulders. His fingers play with the opening in your robe. “You know I can. You don’t have to endure this alone.”
Oh, he could. He’d done such wicked things to you with just his mouth and hands alone, never mind what he done with the rest of him, so thick and hard.
The warmth bleeding into your back is like a drug, and you can’t help but melt into him as he ghosts his lips along the slope of your shoulder.
“Do you know how I’ve dreamed of you?” Surprisingly limber fingers push beneath the front folds of your yukata to graze the bare skin above your collar bone. Though the room is warm thanks to the fire cracking merrily in the hearth, you find yourself shivering as your robe teases lightly across your skin, baring more of you to the open air.
The breadth of the Sound Pillar’s forearm across your chest keeps you locked in place against him. “I’m at your mercy every time I fall asleep.”
“Uzu — oh,” your head thuds against his sternum when his fingers — those damn fingers — find your exposed breast.
“You realized it too that night, didn’t you?” The slow parting of your robe from your shoulders spreads goosebumps over your skin where the fabric drags. Between his hands and the teasing caress of your robe sliding down your arms, every nerve in your body comes alive. You sink further into him, bare from the top of your rounded belly, up.
Uzui’s arms swallow you up from behind, and his lips find your shoulder. “That we were made for one another? It’s why we didn’t stop, isn’t it?”
Too much; his hands are too warm, his mouth far too soft where it dances along your desperate skin. It’s been so long since you’ve been touched by anyone, let alone by someone whose caress almost could pass for something reverent. Loving.
It’s been so long since anyone cared.
“Aren’t you tired of us playing this game?” He asks, as though you’d been the one responsible for putting the pieces on the board. “Why do we have to keep dancing around it?”
Uzui doesn’t say what exactly it is he speaks of, and you know better than to ask. It is a door that cannot be shut once opened, and there is no point in trying to force it, anyways.
After all, you were not the one who locked it in the first place.
He drops to his knees before you, staring up at you with something like awe.
“I want you both to be mine.” He whispers, his forehead pressing to the generous swell of your stomach before he peers up at you. for a moment, all of the heat brimming in his eyes is smothered out by pure yearning, earnest and desperate.
“My baby,” his gaze remains locked with yours even as his lips softly graze your navel. “My woman.”
His lips travel down the outward curve of your stomach, every kiss an act of worship, until he pauses right before the dip in your thighs.
“Just say yes,” he urges, mouth hovering dangerously —infuriatingly close to where you ache. “I’ll take care of you both, I swear it.”
He seems so earnest. It is almost easy — too easy — to forget what led you here, heavily pregnant with his child.
You’d be more useful dead.
being horny doesn’t fix your problem, idiot
Dude, Imagine a reader being isekaid in Gotham. Reader has a system which prevents them from dying so they're kinda immortal. What I mean is that reader can die but they'll get revived again and again. Of course.. Since it's Gotham, she gets killed on her first night. Imagine where there are certain things she gotta do to unlock some abilities but she doesn't know what or how to unlock it. A reader who was happy at being isekaid before she slowly realized the reality she was on now (happy character to gloomy and depressed reader). Imagine a reader who's slowly losing it as she dies for the 99th time.. How life slowly does in her eyes. Randomly thought of this as I was reading a quotev story of a Reader x record of Ragnarok. This sucks cause I wrote this at 3am with one eye closed. ➖👄👁 (me rn)
-🔱
OMG GO TO SLEEEP (I'll probably stay awake until 5 am so really, who am I to talk-)
Tried to keep this GN!Reader, but I may have slipped. This may be gruesome soooo fair warning from now: Dead dove do not eat, gore, blood, death, everyone is getting traumatized tbh, suicide mentioned, trying to make it funny but it gets dark quick, lots of shit like that
Some things before starting:
I've always liked the idea of Isekaid!Reader- add to that Immortal-but-not-really!Reader who remembers every death? Amazing angst.
Reader who is immortal in the sense that she regenerates, no matter how small the piece left is, she'll be back up and running by the next day, maybe the next week if the piece is really small- but you'll see her again! And like Deathstroke, the regeneration keeps her "in her prime" as well, so if she died young, like 16, she'd stop aging by 25-30(tbh this would prob be another layer to the trauma)
I imagine the way to level up is in a dead magical language, a forgotten dialect of some god, etc.
This could turn into a multi chaptered fic... This could be Romantic!Batfam... This could be Romantic!The Immortal Version!Wonder Woman... This could be Romantic!Ra's and Talia 😈 IT could be all three options 😈😈😈 It's def yandere/obsessive territory either way.
---
No matter how Reader actually died in real life, mugging gone wrong, the classic bus/truck moment, suicide, etc etc, it'll probably be brushed off as a dream in a dream once you realize you've woken up in Gotham.
So, of course Reader dies the first night. "Oh- it's just a dream, let me do crazy shit like going into rich people's places-"Yeah you end up in a hostage situation.
Now- you wanted to be sneaky, play vigilante for shits and giggles, you weren't as amused when you were eye to eye with a bomb.
Now, Batsy thinks everything is fine- he got everyone out, the area is evacuated, and everything can be rebuilt. And then he hears Oracle gasp, saying someone is face to face with the bomb. It's Jason all over again, from him running towards the building, to your shoulders slumping in defeat as the clock ticks zero, to Bruce being in utter shock as he tries to move on as the smell of burnt human flesh once again sticks to him, bringing back his sleepless nights and blank stare.
You weren't worried, thinking you'd just wake up and go to your normal life. But you wake up in pain as bones, veins, nerves, meat, and skin regrow, as the fabric that was melted into your skin is expelled, clear skin taking over. It was excruciating. It left you screaming and crying, your body shaking on the metal table. And it left the mortician who was about to work on you passed out on the floor.
When the old woman wakes up, the only evidence that she didn't hallucinate is the missing change of clothes, CCTV recordings showing you stumbling out of the building, barely able to walk, and a small smear of liquid gold.
Bruce's guilt was eating him. He's memorized your face at this point, every pixel, the way your shoulders dropped, to the way you resigned to your fate. And he starts to see you in random places, looking at him from over the street as he's swarmed by reporters, in the local cemetery, on Red Hood's territory. So he goes to the morgue.
When the bat comes knocking for any information on you, for any blood he can test to find out who you are, so Bruce Wayne can send some guilt money to your family, the woman pales, multiple prayers to different gods spewing out of her lips. Another employee, not quite as terrified but still shaken, tells him everything, even shows him the recording.
From everything, he'd have assumed a trauma-born meta-gene, but the liquid gold smear and the pure fact that you should have been dead, no discussion had, gave him pause. Maybe it was a Dark Justice League problem.
You've died so much, you stopped counting, what use was it anyway? You tried leaving Gotham, but every time something would happen, from almost getting decapitated, it was so weird to feel your neck sewing itself in place, to being run over, to being shot Bonnie and Clyde style. So much happened, and you remember it all. You remember the pain, the way your blood seeped through your wounds, the crack of your bones.
But you also remember waking up from imminent death, the red blood now golden and melting into the ground, the pain of everything mending, over and over again. You stopped trying, taking refuge in the safest territory you knew. You also stopped looking into reflections. You couldn't take what you saw, what you would hear if you stared long enough- letters and whispered words in a language you couldn't recognize, dark figures in the corner of your eye, hands clutching at you- it was too much, a never ending nightmare.
It didn't matter who you were in your past life, in Gotham, you are a nobody, and even so, the Bat and his birds found you quite quickly. Granted, you working for gangs and occasionally the Penguing wasn't exactly low profile, but no one else would hire you without needing some form of documents. Documents you no longer have. So you took to cleaning up The Lounge and turning a blind eye to everything that was happening, to the drugs, to the scream coming from the basement you weren't supposed to know existed, everything. The way Penguing pays, you'd play dumb for as long as he was alive, honestly. Soon enough, you'd be able to afford a house.
Of course- you were trying to avoid Batsy and whatever robin he currently had, what would you even say to him if you could catch a one-on-one moment? "I know everything about every version of you because I'm from another world, I found out I'm immortal, and need a sugar daddy."? Jail. Straight to Arkham. Nobody would believe you. But you were already on his radar, and when he emerged from the shadows of your small apartment, you understood why the goons were so afraid of him.
ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ᴏɴᴇ: Ambush
ᴀ/ɴ: yippee chapter one!! this is basically where most of my snippets I've released are from but enjoy!! full series masterlist here!
ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢꜱ: cursing, mentions of death
ᴘᴀɪʀɪɴɢ: Bakugou Katsuki x f!reader
It’s dark. You’re alone.
That was your first mistake.
The second?
Not making camp while there was still light.
Oh, you're so fucked.
Your heart pounds against your ribcage, hammering in your ears, drowning out the eerie silence that surrounds you. Before the Games, you would have enjoyed the quiet—taken it as a moment of repose.
But now? Silence is dangerous.
As is everything else in the arena.
Silence means waiting. Either you’re waiting for something, or something is waiting for you. Neither bodes well.
Whoosh.
Your heart stops.
Your breath turns shallow, erratic. Fingers tighten around your sorry excuse for a weapon—a wooden dagger you carved from a stick.
A blur whips across your vision.
You pounce.
Your breathing quickens, shallow and erratic as you grip your dagger. A blur whips across your vision, and you pounce on instinct, fear coursing through your veins alongside copious (and probably unhealthy) amounts of adrenaline, every nerve on fire.
In the scuffle, your vision goes blurry for a moment, but you waste no time restraining whatever had ambushed you underneath your body weight, acting despite being disoriented.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Your grip your dagger, ready to fight for your life, only to see- Two piercing red eyes staring back at you, widened a fraction and pupils dilated.
Two piercing red eyes stare back at you.
Your own eyes widen in a flurry of emotions and thoughts as a name is conjured by recognition.
Bakugou Katsuki. District 2.
A Career.
You freeze.
Your breathing—once ragged—goes still.
You grip the dagger so hard your knuckles turn white, feeling the sting of blood dripping from your palm. But you don’t care. You can’t care.
One wrong move, and you're dead.
“The fuck—get the hell off of—mmph!”
You cut off the disgruntled blond with a panicked hand over his mouth.
“Are you crazy?! Do you want to get killed?” you hiss, gripping your dagger tight enough for your fingers to ache. Your eyes lock onto his, filled with as much murderous intent as you can muster.
But could you really kill him?
Even now, with your heart hammering so wildly it drowns out your thoughts, the reality of kill or be killed refuses to settle in. The one thing you do know?
This tribute is dangerous.
The boy from District 2 —Bakugou Katsuki— goes still, sensing your hesitation.
Then, in a blink, you’re flung backwards.
Your back slams into a tree, bark scraping against your skin, the impact rattling your bones. You bite your tongue to stifle the cry threatening to spill.
You can’t afford to make a sound - fighting off one Career was already a death wish. If you alerted any others?
You’d be dead before you could think.
Bakugou rises with ease, dusting himself off like your ambush was nothing more than an inconvenience. You, on the other hand, are frozen—paralyzed by both pain and the suffocating weight of fear.
He steps closer, eyes flickering over your body with amusement.
This was too easy.
But then—he stops.
He squats down, leveling himself with you, red eyes sharp with something unreadable. His grin spreads wide—feral, canines flashing.
You let out a shuddering breath, clenching your dagger like a lifeline.
Because right now?
It is one.
Bakugou snorts, utterly amused that you think you stand a chance.
“Relax, sweetheart.” His voice is low, almost mocking. “I ain’t gonna hurt ya.”
Your stomach twists at the nickname, filled with condescending. You just glare at him, venom in your stare.
“I could kill you if I wanted to.” you say coldly, your voice thankfully steady and level.
The boy just blinks momentarily, amusement flickering in his eyes.
He leans back, resting his hands on his bent knees as he sits, snorting.
“Yeah? Bet you could, except…” he smirks dangerously “you’re scared.”
You flinch, unsettled by how easily he reads you. He didn’t seem as deadly as before, but your grip still tightens on your dagger.
“What do you want?” you ask, your tone low and flat.
This only makes the Career pause, standing up briskly and turning away from you. He stuffs his hands into his pockets, glancing at you over his shoulder.
“I want to win.” he says finally, and you body stills for a moment, wondering what the implications meant fo you.
Bakugou rolls his eyes, sensing your lapse of terror and scoffs.
“Don’t lose your shit, I’m not gonna kill you.” he grabs his machete from the bushes - shit how long has that been there for?
“I’ll leave that to someone else. For now, I want to strike a deal.” he says, unbothered red eyes raking over your form.
“In exchange for me protecting you - you get us food.”
You frown. “Like a housewife?!”
Katsuki lets out a small tch, walking back over to you and sticking out his hand for you to take. “Like a ‘I do all the killing’, and ‘you make sure we don’t get poisoned or starve along the way’.”
You stare at his outstretched hand, and after a moment of debating with yourself, you take it. Because, fuck it - you’re going to die anyways.
The blonde helps you up, and is ready to leave your sorry excuse for a ‘campsite’ - but he stops when he hears your hushed whisper.
“Wait! Let me just grab my backpack. I won’t take too long.” you say, and Bakugou raises an eyebrow, clearly not wanting to stay here any longer, but stays silent.
What he doesn’t expect you to do is scale up a nearby tree like a damn squirrel - your limbs moving with some practiced ease it was almost unnatural.
Quietly, you make your way back down, jumping down onto the soft grass silently with such stealthy precision that Bakugou has to look away at the last second so you didn’t realize he was staring.
You look up at him, his expression unreadable as you stand up, trailing behind him quietly as he starts to weave his way through the underbrush.
You flex your fingers, feeling the sore muscles strain as you do, the only sound you hear behind the soft crunch of your boots against the grass and your own breaths.
When you entered these games, the odds were never in your favor.
You’ve known that since you were twelve.
Now, you’re not sure.
Were you going to win? Fuck no.
But now, at least you knew you weren’t going to go down without a fight.
THE TIME HATH COME
Bonfire part 4
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
Reader comforts and helps Jacob recover from his injuries, but some wounds go down to the heart. And something in your relationship with Jacob Black shifts…
Warnings: FLUFF, lil ANGST if you squint, HURT/COMFORT! DADDY CARLISLE
————
The house is warm and welcoming as you cross the threshold. Jacob Black’s home had always been this way, it’s as if the very soul of the Black family had somehow managed to seep its way into the very woodwork.
But the warmth does little to ease the tension that weaves throughout your body, and weighs you down. There is so much you want to say, and you have no idea how to even begin expressing it. And your throat burns once more as you swallow down your nerves and steel yourself. You would be there for Jacob, as you had always been. Even if he wanted to just sit in silence you would sit with him till he was ready, by his side, waiting patiently as you always had. And if he just wanted space, if he wanted to just be alone, you would wait outside his door for hours more till he wanted to see you. Whatever he needed you would give to him, now that you knew he’d be okay.
Words couldn’t even begin to describe how grateful you were that he survived. Bella had told you about the training the Cullens and the Wolfpack had gone through for the Newborn battle. She mentioned why it was so dangerous for Jacob and the pack, that newborns could crush their bones and make their lungs collapse. You remember dread filling your entire body at her words. You were so worried for not only Jacob, but Embry, Quill, Paul, Jared, hell you were even worried about Sam. Your world almost ended when Bella called you, frantic and shaken, telling you that Jacob was hurt in the fight.
And to think, someday, Bella Swan will think that this is just some small thing that happened.
But the world ended for a moment when it happened to you.
————
You walk softly towards Jacob’s room, and you open the door slowly. Tentativeness fills your actions and wears down into your bones with fatigue and heartache. Your limbs feel heavy and white hot as you will them to move. And you slip past the door keeping your eyes on your shoes. Moving and carefully as you can, you finally close the door and turn to face Jacob’s bedroom.
It probably took you five minutes just to open and close the stupid door. But you didn’t want to risk the chance that peace had been brought to Jacob in the form of sleep. And your movements would stir him to wakefulness, and Jacob’s pain would continue to plague him.
“The door isn’t going to fall off its hinges (Y/N).” Jacob’s voice is quite and barley audible. But it’s still startles you as it reaches you.
“I thought that maybe you had fallen asleep.” You say shyly, suddenly feeling ridiculous for your carful movements. Your body is hot as embarrassment floods through your nervous system.
“I’m just teasing you.” Jacob says softly, there’s this warmth that fills the timber of his voice and makes your heart flutter. “You don’t have to feel embarrassed.”
“I’m not embarrassed.” You huff out in defense. As you shuffle your feet around, before walking across the room to grab the chair that sits in-front of Jacob’s desk in the left corner of his room.
“You’re a horrible lier.” Jacob notes, he’s all too amused by how flustered you are in this moment. But your presence makes the ache in Jacob’s chest lessen. And a small weak laugh escapes his lips as a small smile spreads across his mouth.
You don’t reply to his comment, instead you take a moment to admire the boy before you. How can someone in so much pain, both emotionally and physically, smile so warmly at you. You feel your eyes soften as you sit down and lean forward, resting your elbows on your knees. And you just sit there and admire how beautiful Jacob looks in the soft glow of his lamp light. He looks far too hurt and aged by pain for someone on the edge of 17.
“I look like shit don’t I?” Jacob sounds as if he hates how vulnerable he is right now. Like he hates that you have to see him like this. Broken and twisted by angry, desperation and self-hate. A hate that was born after he first phased, and has only gotten worse since.
“I wasn’t thinking that.” You softly reassure him, sincerity laces through your voice and you shake your head as you speak. “I was…” nerves fill you as you begin your confession. “I was only admiring you.” You swallow, and for the first time in months, you look Jacob Black in the eyes.
You wanted him to know you meant those words. Jacob wasn’t some monster, and he wasn’t twisted or broken. He was soft and sweet, and loving. He felt things so deeply that it was both a blessing and a curse. The word would be a better place if more people had a heart like Jacob Black.
When your gaze meets his eyes, your breath burns out from within your lungs as you drown in the warm brown eyes of Jacob Black.
Through his eyes, you see how deeply sadden Jacob was, you saw how weighted down he was by responsibility and duty. How hard he fought to protect those he loved, but most of all. You saw Jacob for all that he is, for the sweet, kindhearted boy his father raised, to the fearless and strong Quileute warrior he is. You saw Jacob at his lowest, most bare moments, broken down and tired, but still so loving and warm. Like the sun that shines down on you after a storm.
And something in the air shifted between you and Jacob Black. You begin to see yourself, through his own eyes. You feel what he feels when he looks at you, how you ground him, make him feel like he’s not something that needs to be fixed. You feel how the world begins to make a little bit more sense with you in his life.
Moments between you and him flash through your mind. A time when you wrapped your arms around him as he bent down and burrowed his head into the junction of your neck and shoulder. And you feel what he felt in that moment, you feel how much it hurt him that Bella ignored his plead for her to stay and left him behind instead.
You feel how grateful he was to have you with him in that moment. And you feel how much it meant to him that you got out from your vehicle just to comfort him.
That day, you and Jacob had been walking on the beach when you saw Bella jump. You remember how horrified you were that she was dead. And now you know how deeply that moment haunted Jacob, you know how thankful he was to have you there with him.
How thankful he was that you helped him pull Bella from the cold water, and performed CPR on her as he ran to get a blanket you kept in your trunk. You learn that Jacob was deeply touched that you asked him if he was okay after you knew Bella was going to live.
More and more memories flood through you, and are overwhelmed by the shear weight of emotions that flow through you. Some of them were simple times of you and him just being together in his little makeshift mechanic shop, laughing and listening to music.
A time you and him were messing around in the rain, you watch yourself through Jacob’s eyes as you spin around and jump in puddles. And you feel his eyes crinkle as he grins at you from his spot in the makeshift shop. You hear his laughter as you watch yourself pull him out into the rain and make him dance with you.
The day you found of vampires and werewolves existed flashes by and you feel Jacob’s heart racing in fear as you and Bella sprint towards him. You feel how once he looks at you he starts running harder and faster. You feel how hard Jacob fought Paul and how he kept thinking of what might’ve happen to you if he wasn’t there.
And you feel Jacob’s heart hammering in his ribs when he lent down to whisper in your ear. You see just how out of it you really were that day, and how Jacob was scared you’d be tariffed of him after he shifted to protect you and Bella.
The last one you see is the day of your father’s funeral. Jacob had been the one person who stayed with you even after everyone else had left. He and you were about 10 years old, and he had a stupid Hawaiian shirt on with red flowers. It’s weird, whenever you looked back at that memory you could’ve sworn they were blue.
You remember wishing that he would go home so he wouldn’t see you cry, but also praying he would stay because Jacob made everything easier.
You felt how desperately Jacob wished he could take your pain away that day, how he wanted you to smile or look him the eyes at least once. Billy had told him that you were the one who found your father on the floor.
Jacob had asked his dad what he could do to help take that kind of pain away. And his father told him that when something like this happens to someone you love, all you can do is be there for them. And that’s why Jacob had stayed for so long, it wasn’t out of obligation, or a sense of duty. It was because Jacob Black loved you.
You realized somewhere in the back of your mind, that Jacob was also experiencing the same things you were, but through your own eyes and feelings. Jacob Black gets to finally see himself the way you seem him. Kind, and loving, sweet and protective, and so much more. Things you never knew how to voice to Jacob become known to him as you felt them.
It was mind blowing, as if gravity wasn’t holding your bodies to the earth, but each other. Things you already felt for one another magnified by a thousand.
It’s like everything you are to each other is being imprinted into your very soul.
—————
Suddenly your back in the small room, sitting on Jacob’s chair and staring at him. You don’t know what happened, you’re so confused your head hurts and your ears are ringing. But you the sight of Jacob’s eyes well up with tears snaps you into focus.
A look of what you can only describe as love and devotion washes over his face, replacing the one of complete and utter shock.
“Jacob?” You ask softly and stand to kneel next to his bed. “Jacob wha-“Thank God it’s you.” Jacob all but chokes out the words, and he looks impossibly younger. He looks like he did before any of these impossible things happened to him. And Jacob starts to cry with relief that laces through his voice and a wet smile forms on his face.
“Jacob, what do you mean?” You rush the words out, “why are you crying?” You ask at you reach out to wipe away his tears, but his hand catches your own and he holds it close to his heart and smiles bright and big.
“I’m just relieved is all.” Jacob laughs breathlessly. “I was so worried that it’d be some stranger I’d make eye contact with.” And his voice cracks, “But it’s you. And I don’t have to worry about not being able to be there for you when you need me anymore.” Jacob sounds so relieved and full of emotion. And begin to feel this pull towards Jacob, a pull you have always felt, but it’s strong and sharp and clear instead of a dull ache. It’s like and invisible string is tugging and tethering you to Jacob Black
“You look so tired.” Jacob says sadly, his voice soft. And his hand leaves yours to wipe away a tear you didn’t realize was falling from your right eye. And you laugh wetly at that as hours of waiting and worrying come crashing down on you.
“I’m just so happy you’re alive.” You sob out and rest your forehead on Jacob’s, his left hand rubs up and down your right shoulder.
“I didn’t mean to make you worry.” Jacob says sincerely and tenderly, as he closes his eyes and breaths you in.
“I don’t think I’ll ever not worry about you.” You admit breathlessly, tears falling down slowly and you swallow deep to hold some of them back. You open your eyes and look at Jacob who slowly opens his own and blinks up at you. And admiration floods his eyes as he looks at you. His left hand moves to stroke his thumb against your right cheek, and slowly it moves to run across your bottom lip. And you suck in a breath as his eyes follow his thumb, Jacob’s eyes dilate and slowly you pull away.
Your whole body is impossibly hot as you clear your throat. “I um,” you look away from Jacob’s face. “I’ll go get a wet washcloth to put on your forehead.” You whisper out and you back way hesitantly. You will yourself to stand up awkwardly as you rock on your feet. Shifting your eyes from Jacob’s smug face to your shoes and back.
“You know I’m just going to dry it off.” Jacob says slyly, “I am pretty hot.” And he grins as you tense up, and flush. If he were so injured you might’ve considered throttling him.
“You’re an asshole.” You laugh softly. “I’m getting one anyways,” you turn and walk towards the door. “I’ll be right back. I promise.” You add in earnest.
“Not going to take the chance to run away from me.” Jacob jokes softly, shifting in his bed to try and get comfort. He winces as he accidentally stretched his right side too much.
“I would never do that.” You confess. “I’m afraid your stuck with me for life.” You tease as a playful smile comes across your face. You open up the door to head out to the kitchen.
“I’d take lifetimes with you.” Jacob says it just loudly enough for you to hear. And your body freezes with your left foot out the door, and you look back at him with wide eyes. The look on Jacob’s face is so full of tenderness and striate forwardness it makes your heart throb. And you smile fondly at him, and you feel your eyes soften with admiration.
“Yeah, me too.” You breathe and slip out the door. You lean your head against as you push it close and you shut your eyes. Breathing deeply as you feel hot and overwhelmed by everything that’s happened tonight.
“No funny business.” You jump at least 5 feet off the ground and whip your head to the right to see Billy Black level you with a stern but playful stare. “I mean it kid. I’m too young for grandpups.”
You stare at him in confusion, how would that even work? Grandpups? And suddenly it hits you. “WHAT NO WAY!” You hiss out and Billy throws his head back and laughs at you, as he wheels away. “Come tuck me in kid!” He yells as he rolls towards his bedroom.
“YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF!” You exclaim knowing full well he’s just teasing you.
(I said grand pups and did the how would that even work so it could work for both male and female presenting readers)
——————
True to your word you return washcloth in hand, after folding it up and laying it across Jacob’s forehead you sit back down in the chair you moved to the side of his bed. You scoot it closer to the bed and your eyes flicker over Jacob’s face.
“It’s cold.” Jacob murmured out, his eyes stay closed as he’s in a state between wakefulness and sleep. You laugh tenderly at him.
“Yeah that’s kind of the point Jake.” You smile at the way he scrunches up his face. “Don’t have to be sassy about it.” Jacob’s voice is still sleepy and you just barely understand him. You laugh at the mock grumpiness in his voice. Shaking your head you lean forward and rest your elbows on your knees once more, watching Jacob rest.
“Did my dad ask you to take care of me?” Jacob questions after a minutes of silence. You huff at the question.
“No, I offered to help take care of you.” You say simply and grab the edge of Jacob’s blanket to mess with.
“It’s rotten work.” Jacob grumbles out, once again he has a self deprecating tone to his voice. And you hate that he feels that way.
“Not to me,” you whisper out, soft and quiet, full of honesty. “Not if it’s you.” Your the corners of you lips pull into a grin as you watch Jacob’s cheeks flush at your words. He has nothing to say to that, but a small smile is on his face now as he rests. And you feel a swell of pride at both earning a smile for Jacob Black and getting him to blush. And you bite back a smug smirk and keep playing with the end of his blanket.
“Carlisle will be back soon to set up the morphine drip.” As you remind him you lean forward to adjust the blanket at Jacob’s waist. “Are you feeling any pain.” You pray that he’ll tell you no.
“Only when I move around too much.” You let out a breath at his confession. “Quite worrying so much, I’m not going anywhere anytime soon.” Jacob’s once playful tone turns genuine, he cracks his eyes open and looks you into yours. And affectionate smile cracks open on your face as you meet his gaze, Jacob begins to smile shyly at the sight.
“We’re going to talk about whatever the hell that was earlier.” You tone is stern as you sit up and cross your arms. “But we don’t have to do it till you’re ready.” You add softly after seeing Jacob tense up.
Jacob smiles apologetically. “Thank you.” He says softly and drifts into sleep. Sitting in your chair you watch as Jacob’s face relaxes and his head rolls to the side. He looks peaceful. You sit there till you hear a nock on the door. You get up to see who it is.
“How are you holding up (Y/N)?” Carlisle questions once he sees you, and it’s filled with genuine concern, he actually cares about your answer. “I’m doing better.” You say shyly, and it’s true. “Thank you for taking care of him.” Carlisle smiles at you as you thank him.
“I’m just doing my job.” That’s something you like about Carlisle, his very humble and soft spoken.“Maybe,” you begin, “but you’re going the extra mile to make sure he’s comfortable. Not a lot of people would do that.” As you’re talking you moving out of his was to let him do his magic.
“I appreciate you telling me that (Y/N).” Carlisle says fondly and starts setting the drip up. And just as you begin to leave the room, Carlisle speaks up.
“Bella stopped by your house and got a bag together for you.” Your heart warms as he tells you this. “She said she packed as many changes of clothes she could fit, and everything you’d need to spend a couple of nights here.” Carlisle stop what he’s doing to look you in the eyes. “She told me that you weren’t going to be leaving his side till he got better…I don’t know a whole lot about you. But I’ve been around long enough to know when someone is genuinely a good person.” He smiles softly. “You’re definitely one of the few that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.”
You look away from Carlisle and shuffle awkwardly. You’re not exactly great with compliments and receiving one from thee Carlisle Cullen is a lot to take in. “Thank you, I um,” you laugh, “I don’t really know what to say to that.”
Daddy Cullen I mean Carlisle laughs softly at you and continued his work. “Good people never do.” He shakes his head as he speaks. “I put the bag on the table in the kitchen for you.”
“Thanks again.” You say quickly and head out of the room. You have no idea why you had to make things awkward but in your defense Carlisle is as majestic as an elk. Being in his presence is a lot to handle.
“Don’t you have a wife?” Jacob manages to hiss at Carlisle after you’ve left the room. The vampire laughs at his comment.
“I promise you Jacob,” the smile on Carlisle’s face is one of genuine amusement as he speaks. “I’m not trying to ‘make a move’ on your imprint.”
BOOOOOOM MUHAHAHAHA
Mike drop
I did it. I finished the part sooner than I thought I would. I started this fic with this whole scene in mind. So I hope you liked it, there will be more parts to this story. I’m going to go as far as breaking dawn but i haven’t decided if I want rotisserie to exist in this universe.
In my opinion the Jacob imprinting on her was NOT necessary, and was just plain cruel to his character so that’s not gonna happen for sure. No drama with double imprinting will happen.
Anyways I hope you liked it, sorry if it was ass I tried my best. Almost cried when I wrote this out but I’m also heavily sleep deprived to it may just be me.
Thanks for reading!!!
