we are on day 12 of fancy tea tastings, i was putting these in my notes app but. well. you know. anyways
12. Le Thé Merveilleux, green tea with caramelized almonds and pistachios. Drank from a mug at my desk at work in an attempt to brighten the mood of what is shaping up to be an extremely long day.
(Side note: With that said, I've been finding that most (not all!) of the teas that I bring to work end up tasting very odd. If it were odd in the same way, I would just write it off as my mood being sour, or it not tasting as good due to the fact that I haven't had the little ritual of boiling water, letting it come to temp, placing it in a teapot, timing the steep, choosing a cup, the best sweetener (if any), planning a meal to go with it, etc. etc. However, unfortunately, the teas I have had at work have all been odd and distasteful in their own special and unique ways. Ergo, I must conclude it is the teas themselves.)
This tea tasted sour (not tannic!), with distinct notes of artificial caramel flavouring and what I can only describe as "eau de play-doh". The aroma is sickeningly sweet and plastic-esque, like a bag of vanilla potpourri, and to be frank, I do not taste the almond or pistachio at all.
An excellent tea to give to someone you want to turn off of tea forever, but not worth wasting your money on. Our first F tier of the lot. In two words: This sucked. I regret everything.
