Tatters #134
Evan was lost. He’d been marched somewhere, people stronger than him, or maybe he was just dizzy…
He remembered.
“Mimma! Mimma, don’t!”
The wisp of a woman with her faded clothes and faded eyes made herself the aching foreground. “Shut up, Evvie! —You taught him to whine every time you start losing.” She picked up a jacket from the back of the nearest chair and threw it at Evan’s father. It was soft, as Mimma’s missiles went.
“No,” said Evan. This was nothing he hadn’t reviewed when learning to tap into his emotional abilities. It was easy to bring old emotions to the surface—so easy that first-year empaths signed a pledge not to run around destroying people’s psyches with it. Simmer anyone in trauma long enough and they might just never recover.
The probing in his head continued, insistent. Audrey’s soft mouth so near. It was the proper culmination for a year of hesitant overtures. Then, the dart—what was that?
Yes. Yes, then it got emotional.
“No,” he said again. That terror and regret was his alone. Nobody got to—
Pain.
There was no thought of controlling the direction. There was no way to bring his gifts to bear. He made himself small behind an imaginary mirror; his emp tendencies should hide, even if everything else fell apart. The core of his skull where no healing touch could reach howled and boiled. Even behind closed lids, his eyes clouded further. Pressure closed in.
“Keep him up,” said a voice. “He gushes even more than the other one.”
“Bring him to the target.”
He was moving. He was on a wheeled conveyance. Two or three people were near him, though he saw nothing but nondescript robes when he tried to look around from under his forehead strap. He had no idea where he was.
The conveyance stopped.
“Hello?” he said. “Who’s there?” He started readying his mental energy. This was it. This was the moment he had to attack someone.
“Oh, no.” He knew that voice, though it rasped badly. “Evan?”
It was fear, but it was also relief. “Audrey? Are you all right?”
“I don’t know. Are you? Are you…are you okay?”
He had to cough past the rush of fear and relief. “I’ve come to rescue you.”
“Are you tied up?”
“Well, yes.”
“I trust you, but…”
“It’s okay.” Without thinking about tactics or fighting, he gathered all his nerve and used his precious ability to project something he wasn’t feeling: comfort and courage. Just for a second.
Something made a strange little sound. A voice beyond his vision said, “Look at that. He’s strong.”
Shit.
“That means we won’t have to wring out Two-B today,” said someone else. “Look at the scale here.”
A tall, gaunt man in a ragged burgundy bathrobe came to stand over Evan. “Your donation,” he murmured, “is appreciated.”
Someone walked up beside Evan carrying a bowl and a straight razor. He strained his bound-together ankles and his clamped-down arms and his strapped-down head, but nothing gave.
“Leave him alone,” Audrey said hoarsely. “Leave him alone! I’m the one who’s all…prepped!”
“Audrey, don’t.”
The someone with the razor started scraping hair clear from a patch of Evan’s scalp.
“You know each other?” said the gaunt man.
“Leave her alone,” said Evan. Scrape, scrape.
“Ahh, perhaps this is what was needed. Yes. Yes, proceed. Boy, your sacrifice will be remembered across the city. At least, among my special subjects.”
“No!” Evan’s voice was stronger and fuller, but Audrey’s stridency lashed through the room like a whip. “Your Majesty,” she went on, “let him go. Let him go, do what you want to me.”
“Stop it,” he shouted. Scrape, scrape, comb, stroke. Your Majesty? “Let her go.”
“Would someone stop the echoes?” another of the robed figures said.
“They must be conscious for this,” Burgundy Robe said.
“Audrey, I—I’m sorry.”
“It’ll be okay. I know someone who survived this. It’ll be okay.”
A cold contact on the bare patch of his scalp. He tried once more to twist or buck, and failed.
“Yes,” said Burgundy. “Yes, this conductor will work. Where is the detector? Is he projecting?”
“Here, Your Majesty. And no.”
“Majesty, would you do the honors?”
“My calculations are perfect,” said Burgundy. “His projection was weak, but that will prevent oscillations. Perfect.” He walked out of Evan’s line of sight. Something mechanical clicked.
Mimma slapped Pippa with a force that seemed to echo in the small living room. “You whining leech,” she said. “Maybe you’d like to do something worthwhile with your existence. If only you had a clue what that meant. Clean yourself up and don’t blubber in front of Evvie.”
Then he saw something else. A girl, crying about a man. He felt her pain and humiliation like it was breaking his heart. He didn’t understand.
The pain was like a drill into his skull. He didn’t think about whether this was literally happening. He tried to hide behind himself again, stow away his ability rather than giving it up. He honestly couldn’t tell whether he succeeded.
Something new, a continuation, a change. The girl-he was being held close, accepted. There were soothing words, a gentleness that asked nothing of her-his soiled body. His-her terrible mistake was survivable. A ferocity leashed, the possibility of later revenge. He could rest. The feeling was indescribable.
Then, gone. The pain stopped. He collapsed to the gurney, even giving up his efforts to break his bonds. He felt wrung out from someone else’s memories. He didn’t have that sheltering figure. No one would ever come for him. It ended like this, less than two paces from the woman he had so decisively failed.
“Do it again.”
“Majesty, the cable—”
“We’re close. Do it again.”
Abruptly the pain was worse. Evan wasn’t ashamed to scream.

Some Pokémon drawings based on my headcons:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My Pokémon persona Jessie leader of team crystal a organization that is 100% good and no villain motives
Due to people believing the Pokédex entries for how some pokemon are and the pokemon with bad dex entries as a result suffer from it
team crystal’s duty is to protect and prove that the pokedex entries were wrong and the people that made them didn’t do proper research
And since team crystal job is to protect and maintain the balance of humans and pokemon, Jessie likes to take in many ex criminal organizations like team rocket and etc. members and give them better life’s
She due to her actions caught the attention of the hall of legends the legendaries that maintain balance of the Pokémon world, they requested her to be a keeper of the peace for them and even blessed her and her pokemon to understand eachother in mental and physical abilities.
Some legendaries including the likes of arceus, the origin 3, have a special bond with Jessie as she doesn’t treat them like royalty but like normal pokemon which they like.
Jessie has an adopted sister in the form of Daisy a human turned hypno due to chair man rose energy making experiments
Jessie and hop also created two special team crystal teams:
Jessie’s consisted of ash, tupp, faba, and jessie (everyone calls jessie (me) jess so jessie can be called jessie when we are around eachother) and James as well as their Pokémon
Jessie even went as far as to find Pokémon friends Jessie and James freed to keep them safe from team rocket life so arbok and wheezing and etc. are with Jessie and James now.
I didn’t get a chance to draw Jessie with ash but this can give ya an idea

I ended up drawing my Teamskull grunt insert Oc into Teamskull screenshots, and I love them.
Their name is ditch (stuff to do with joining Teamskull), and their hair is dyed to match tups and rapps hair because there the ones who he met first.

hc that anipoke gladion and tupp ( the blue skull grunt ) were childhood ‘friends’ and helped each other out in tough situations and raised their pokémon together but in sm027 all gladion can do is glare at him without saying a word because he knows tupp forgot him
