Lowkey so used to the concept of a surveillance state that it is insane to me that in ‘In The Pale Moonlight’ Benjamin can just speak his mind freely to his log and then tell the computer to delete that entire personal log and it just. Does it. And he doesn’t need to worry about that log staying somewhere forever. Though if I recall correctly there is a future series where people do figure out what happened, I’m pretty sure that that personal log is never heard.

Q: What is Summer of Bad Batch??

A: Summer of Bad Batch is a laidback, summer prompt challenge from June 1st-August 31st. Every Sunday (12am CST), a prompt and alternative prompt will be released to inspire creativity in the Star Wars: The Bad Batch fandom! By filling prompts by August 31st, you can qualify as a:

good morning my beloveds! this is a bit of a surprise post, but i'm thinking it makes more sense to say this in a post now rather than copy and paste it for the heartbreaking number of people asking abt this in my inbox!

allow me to paraphrase the overall message of, at present, fifteen nearly identical messages in my inbox:

"hi blue. i'm wondering if you have any advice on how to deal with people not interacting with you anymore. i make all these posts and starter calls, i post memes, i answer drafts, i do everything in my power to make my dash a nice, happy place for people to feel comfortable enough to approach me for interactions and conversations, but nobody is doing anything. nobody is liking my posts, or commenting, or reblogging. my notifs are empty, and i feel really awful about it."

that's actually, word for word, what has been in my inbox for three days now. and i didn't know how to respond, because quite honestly, i have no advice for you. none except for this:

please, please, please start interacting with your mutuals some more.

i'm guilty of it myself. i go silent a lot, i've no idea why. however, i still make a good effort of trying to comment on people's posts, because that's what this place is. tumblr is a social media platform. we socialize on this platform. if we stop doing that, it ceases to be a social media platform.

but a single like can do so much for a person. sending a DM to do some plots, commenting on a post about how to make a grilled cheese REALLY special (i like to add pesto to mine!) or sending unprompted asks to a new mutual! it doesn't have to be massive. but we have stopped interacting with one another, and it really, really sucks. it's so disheartening, it really is, and if that happens to one person, they'll stop sending out notifs as well. and it'll expand, like ripples in a puddle.

it breaks my heart to see so many people facing this challenge. and i'm so sorry that i've been unable to provide a solid answer or suggestion. but the issue here is the community itself. it's a classic example of an individual issue expanding into a social one. if we stop communicating, if we stop socializing, on a SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM, then it's no longer a social media platform. we're no longer a community. we're just a bunch of people who like to write, and we're all on tumblr.

let's make it a resolution. in fact, a challenge. let's all agree to like a few posts each day. or comment on a friend's post, or send in a few memes, or randomly tag people in starters. it's not a massive effort, it's not a huge energetic loss. if we all did a small bit each day, i can guarantee that the dash would transform almost overnight into the community we all knew and loved and deserve! but we all need to be making that conscious choice to interact and communicate more often.

okay, so i'm really shit about remembering to read shit on tumblr and i havent read ao3 fanfic in some time. so my answer here might not be satisfactory.

most of my time the past couple have been on rp, you know? but yall dont know my rp buds. [BUT I ENCOURAGE YALL TO GET INTO RP. IT IS SO FUN WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING AGAINST SOMEONE ELSE!!! I feel it challenges your view of your character - an your own writing - in a way writing fic/an original story solo or playing IF doesn't. the collaborative aspect is fun and i love the planning, but there is so much you cannot plan. you will surprise yourself with what you write and what your characters will do. but that's another post]

BUT! i will say for fanfic oc, @ava-du-mortain Cecilia du Mortain. it's been a while since I've read Ceci so my memory is fuzzy -- or LIA, rather. And I wouldn't call her a villain ... but I wouldn't say she's just ~misunderstood~. There is a darkness to her I find intriguing that I feel echoes her sibling's, and Pap has linger without making her cartoonish but intense instead ... coming to my mind was a snippet she showed me between Nairuz and Lia.

George and Paul discover a new side to their relationship during a business meeting with Maharishi in Sweden. I love that neither of them is a 'virgin with men' when they do. This writer also wrote a novel-length fic about George and Paul, which I haven't read, but if you enjoyed this story, it might be for you.

A Wrench in Clocks (honeyheffron): To quote from the summary: Paul, John, George—forth and back, and all the ways they fit together. This ends with George and Paul together. The scene where George bottoms for Paul while John is...there (sorry, John) is one of the hottest things I read, full stop.

This also goes for No I in Threesome (@with-eyes-closed), also a John/George/Paul triangle story, this one set at the height of Beatlemania, amidst the howling chaos and merciless grind of touring, with relentless, painfully hot sexual energy between all of them— esp. George and Paul. Paul is very much not a bottom here.

2. I'm making art for every still photo on the AO3 side of my collection of haiku about the Mosaic life of Eliot and Quentin. This is a long-term project. There are going to be more than a hundred paintings in it when I'm done. So far I've posted nine of them. My aim is to add something, some touch, some light and color, an expression, to each scene. (There will also be more haiku eventually!)

Most Hits: Fix Me Up Good – 12,087 – When things start to go wrong in Stiles' apartment at the old Hale house, he finds out the maintenance guy is kind of hot but doesn't seem to appreciate Stiles' unique sense of humor. (omg this was just a stupid pwp I posted to prove a point to myself in the other main fandom I was in.🫣 I was going to take it down but it “took off” for me. It’s not my finest work or even my finest pwp, but it’s Teen Wolf so who cares.🤭😳)

Second Most Kudos: Will You Accept This Rose? – 796?! – When Blue is chosen as the reluctant Bachelorette, the show needs to quickly add a few contestants, just to fill out the first night's ceremony. Her new friends on the production staff are asked to help, but Ronan soon finds out he and Blue share similar taste in men. (my crack-filled baby did so well, omg, I can’t believe it! 🌹 I still re-read the scenes I loved writing the most because they make me smile.)

Third Most Comments: Bleach AU Collection – 55 – A compilation of all the Bleach fics I'm writing for the 30-Day AU Challenge on Tumblr. They're mostly fluff and humor with a dose of smut here and there between Grimmjow and Ichigo. (Ironic, really, because no one read or commented on my Bleach stuff while I was writing and posting it, so I just gave up writing for Bleach (and stopped fanfic writing for 3 years) because I’m obviously a horrible writer and/or really terrible at characterizations. So yeah. Weird that it’s gotten this many comments over the years. 🤷)

Fourth Most Bookmarks: Familiarity Breeds Contempt (and Affection) – 181 – In a world of magic, Ichigo cannot become a full mage without successfully summoning his familiar. But when it does appear, it's nothing like the lovable animal familiars everyone else bonds with. (Another Bleach fic that got almost zero interaction when I posted it.)

Fifth Most Words: Treasure in Clay Vessels – 22,003 – Pope Sixtus is so concerned with taking over Florence that he sends two spies to infiltrate the Medici family, but the new war engineer will only choose to get close to one of them. Girolamo must forget he is a Riario to play his role, but temptations threaten to steal him away for good. (Da Vinci’s Demons was the best tiny fandom ever and gave writers/creators such lovely interactions. This was one of my baby works, a real labor of love, and I’m still proud of it.😊)

Least Amount of Words: Clothes Make the Man – 2,182 – Zo's T-shirt was supposed to be a gag Christmas gift, but if he's lucky, it might predict the future. (Da Vinci’s Demons. Ha, even in a teeny, tiny fandom, I still wrote a lot of crack and weird pairings.😜)

Critter Genfic Bingo!

Critter Gen Week starts in one week! From August 17 - 23rd, we’ll be hosting a week of art, meta, and gen fic for critical role.

But what if you just found out about Critter Gen Week, or life happened and you didn’t get as far as you’d hoped?

Well, we’re having Critter Genfic Bingo!

The dragon is by Icongeek26, the D20 is by Michelle Lukezic, both from The Noun Project.

How this works: Starting on August 24th, there will be a form you can fill out with a couple of questions.  Once you fill it out, we’ll send you your own customized bingo card. Then, write a gen fic to fill in a prompt square, and try to get bingo! Any fic that is a prompt fill can be added to a collection, and if you get bingo, you’ll get a nifty image as a reward.

General Prompts - Everybody gets these

Critter Gen Week Prompts - If you already participated in gen week, you might not want these, but if you missed out, here you go!

Whump Prompts - The hurt/comfort stuff. Or hurt, no comfort.

Typically Romantic Prompts - Do you want to subvert some romantic tropes? Write a coffeeshop AU focusing on running a coffee shop? Have people share a bed platonically? Go for it.

The last question is to see if you have any suggestions for prompts that we haven’t covered yet. It might or might not show up on your card!

I’d like to see a prompt list. Sure thing, here you go: Genfic Bingo. Remember, you don’t have to fill out every single prompt on your card to get bingo, so don’t worry too much about the things you don’t want to do.

When is this due? There is no due date - This is a rolling event - meaning it doesn’t have a start or stop. You can request a bingo card at any time, and you can turn in your bingo card whenever.

What do you mean ‘get bingo’? For the purposes of this event, bingo includes any horizontal, vertical or diagonal line with prompts filled. We’re also counting it as bingo if you fill all four corners. The middle space is a ‘free space’ and you automatically get it.  You do not have to fill all 24 prompts to win!

I know you just said that I don’t have to fill all 24 prompts to win, but I took that as a challenge. If you do a full blackout with 24 prompts filled, you’ll get a special image for being an overachiever and my respect.

Do I have to do a separate fic for each prompt? nope!

Okay, I wrote my fic. What now? If it’s on tumblr, tag it critter genfic bingo  and we’ll reblog it. If it’s on AO3, we’ll add it to a collection.

I got bingo! How do I get my sweet sweet badge of honor? You’ll fill out a form! I’m going to be asking you for a) the contact name and b) which tropes you used, and link to the fics

By gen, do you mean general audience? Nope. There is no requirement for this to be child friendly. Put your blorbos in the blender as much as you choose.

What counts as gen fic? We’re defining gen fic as fanfic that does not have romantic or sexual relationships as the main focus of the work. If any romantic or sexual relationships could be removed from the story and the story would have the same general amount of emotional and logical coherency, or the relationship all happens off screen, it’s probably gen.

Genre definitions are always a little slippery, and we’re not cops. We’re trusting the participants to be acting in good faith. If you think it’s predominantly gen, then it counts.

I’m more of an artist. Can I participate? So this event was thought of as more of a way to bring visibility to gen fic, but if you want a prompt list anyway, you can still ask for the bingo card.

This is exactly what the vermin does too you know..they don't actually have any footage of taekook so they make fake edits like this and share it.I don't think we need to do it..no..? we have like years worth of content and you especially have the knack to find stuff nobody knows either..I know you are all about say it like you see it.
