Soft Sam thoughts? — It’s been a bit.

Both of you had had rough days. An exasperated sigh slipped past Sam’s lips as you bumped into him once more. You meant well, trying to help him prep the dinner he had planned on making but seemingly kept getting in the way. “Please, babe just, I don’t know. Go read your book or something?” Sammy kept his voice light, his annoyance in check as his eyes fluttered shut and he pinched the bridge of his nose. Your face fell as you placed the bowl you were holding on the counter, a softly mumbled ‘sorry’ slipping from you as you turned your back to him and stalked out of the kitchen. Sam stewed in his feelings a bit longer, taking his annoyance out on the vegetables he was chopping. He placed his knife down with a soft shake of his head and turned in the direction of your shared bedroom. Without a second thought he turned on his heel, snatching one of your favorite wine coolers out of the fridge before making his way slowly to your room. You laid across the bed, face buried in his pillow as you fought back the damned tears that had threatened to fall all day, tears you knew he hadn’t meant to trigger. You heard the glass of the bottle slide across your dresser before his weight dipped the bed behind you, wrapping his arm around your waist and pulled you back against him. A soft kiss finding it way to the back of your neck. Soft whisperings of “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be an ass.” Slipping past his lips as the tears spilled over your lids. Rolling in his grasp you buried your face in his chest, throwing your arm over his waist. He rested his chin on the crown of your head and let his eyes flutter shut, both of you silently working through your emotions.

It's been a weird year. I moved and changed jobs twice (most recently to a regular daytime hours job) and writing has been molasses. Instead of staring at all the things I should be writing this morning I sat myself in the corner of the couch with a coffee and my neglected Bite to Bruise edits.

I hate that it's taken me all year to edit this project BUT reading it, I'm feeling better and better about it and me and getting back into things. <3
