so!! in this au Yoshi was a famous musician rather than a movie star!! he passed his love for music onto his children, and is much more appreciative of all forms of art than in canon.(though he still thinks music is the best and most legitimate cough cough)

i'm so sorry for the low quality aurgkuetg but! Donnie plays the piano! he is still very into tech, but their stuff and look is based a bit more on a piano because that's what the famous Hamato Yoshi played! wow!! but she truly wishes to play the drums because autism(/j please don't harass me)!!

Mikey plays the (heavily modified) flute! While they love the instrument, it's just not enough for him. She needs the big guns! the bari sax!! did i mention all of them are very into jazz??

Splinter, while being a bit more accepting of who they are and how they express themselves, is still a bit stubborn. he won't let them all switch instruments until they master the ones they have. unfortunately, they inherited his stubbornness and refuse to practice their instruments until they're allowed to play the ones they want to play. this is a terrible stand-off and the boys partially lose anyways

they eventually find some strange vibey instruments(similar to the ones they already have) in Draxum's lab and take them home to mess with, and they find out the instruments are mystical! THAT'S RIGHT BABEY THEY'RE FUCKING BARDS WOOHOOOOO

eventually they learn to harness the

magic

and can make their funky instruments on their own! (they can still technically make the stuff they do in canon but they don't know anything but basic self-defense and would die with a weapon in their hands)

SLEEPOVER SATURDAY. what instrument would you play if you hadn't learned oboe. i wish i learned bassoon as a kid, youth orchestra would've been a lot easier for me if i had. i'm also picking up electric bass again but that's not really that difficult because at the of the day strings are strings yknow

so at my middle school we were required to pick and instrument to play in band (or strings) when we entered 5th grade, so my actual backup options were french horn or percussion (and i chose percussion purely because it was a cheat code to play More instruments). i sort of wanted one of my backups instead of oboe because someone had told me how delicate/easy to damage an oboe could be and it made me nervous. but i was the only kid in the grade who even remotely expressed interest in it, and really i had been hooked on oboe as My Instrument from the first time i heard it demo'd to us in music class. that was going to be my beast it was fated

although in theory i could have gotten away with not picking a band instrument at all but rather joining strings as a violin player because (sasha lore reveal) at that time i was actually in violin lessons. i was a violin player before i was an oboist. but i only played for like two years, i quit pretty quickly after i started oboe. too much to practice all at once. whether you consider that dodging a bullet or the opposite is a matter of perspective

Ok so I had to look up things about instruments as I only really know about harmonicas.

Giorno: french horn

Bruno: a trombone or a xylophone.

Abbacchio: Tuba or cello

Mista: tenor drums, but like six of course and he snaps if someone calls them “quads”

Narancia: cymbals, although he was like “I call dibs on the tuba!” And everyone was like “no!”

Fugo: snare drum and he can play the harp really well too

Trish: flute or timpani

A piece I did on a day I was running notes. I'm pretty new to composing, and I'm aware of how basic it is, but I had fun with it.

If anyone who's experienced in composing sees this, I would really appreciate feedback as I don't have a music teacher at the moment.
