I found some more images from the My Thomas Library books.
Tumblr media
Look at Sir Handel's face. He has such a smug, cocky grin on his face. He's so arrogant and up on his high horse, it really makes me laugh. George is fuming and Sir Handel is just there thinking "Haha I am better than you, you silly simpleton. I am better than everyone. I am the best. I am so grand" and not listening to a single word that George is saying.
I also love the nose and eyebrow shape that they gave Sir Handel, the sharpness in his features really convey the sharpness of his attitude, words and temper. I know that I'm analysing harder than an English literature exam, but that's what I enjoy doing.
Oh and also it says in the book "the engines said that Sir Handel needed his steamroller wheels to balance his big head" and that really made me laugh. I'm going to use that one for my version of Sir Handel. My Sir Handel is dyspraxic, and he uses a cane due to him struggling with his balance (the equivalent of him struggling with derailing and his steamroller wheels being an aid for him). He often falls over and bumps into things, so he uses his cane to balance himself. The others joke that he needs his cane to balance his big head (the quote is a perfect fit, I win).

✨The Narrow Gauge & Mr. Percival full ref's ✨
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course some of my headcanons about them ;3
(This is a little longer than before but I hope you like it :D)
1) Skarloey | 39 y.o | 165 cm
• One of the oldest on the railway, he was like a big brother to all the young narrow gauges.
• Extremely close to Rheneas, always talking about Rheneas everytime he wasn't around.
• Of course besides always talking about Rheneas, he likes to tell a lot of things and sometimes Rusty joins him for that. He's been on the Skarloey railway longer than anyone so he knows all the secrets and stories.
• Likes inviting his friends to drink tea together, sometimes inviting Mr. Percival for that even though he doesn't come often because of his busy schedule. Skarloey also likes to invite Edward just to chat casually and Edward always likes it when he comes to the Skarloey Railway.
• Afraid of thunder and storms but actually he is afraid of loud noises that startle him. He always hide in his room when that happened. He is also afraid of heights.
• People always thought he was wise but Skarloey himself always thought that Rheneas was wiser than him. Whenever he had a problem he would always ask Rheneas for advice.
• Everytimes the young narrow gauges were causing trouble, Skarloey was too tired to deal with it so he mostly told Rheneas about it and Rheneas is the one who will always handle that.
• He also considered Nancy as his best friend and he always allowed her to help him polish his engines.
2) Rheneas | 38 y.o | 165 cm
• Another big brother figure for the young narrow gauge. Always wants the best for the Skarloey Railway so sometimes he can be a little strict about it.
• And because of that, Sir Handel and Peter Sam liked to joke about him acting like a mother. Sometimes he was deliberately called mom by them whenever Rheneas advised them and it always annoyed him.
• Doesn't like it when his name is misspelled. Especially when Duncan and Sir Handel deliberately misspelled his name as "Rhene-ASS". But sometimes he's called "Remy" by Skarloey and he's okay with that.
• Has a pretty tough past and Skarloey is the person he considers his first friend. Doesn't like to talk about it except with Skarloey.
• Swear police number one. Always trying to cover Luke's ears whenever Duncan starts swearing.
• He can become overworked and even get sick because of it. He will really appreciate nap time.
• He never knew he could see ghosts and he always thought it was just a hunch, Rusty was the one who noticed it. Once accidentally saw Rusty talking to Boulder (FYI Boulder in my AU is a giant rock ghost where he will look like an ordinary large rock to the human eye but Rheneas can see its true form just like Rusty)
3) Sir Handel | 27 y.o | 163 cm
• Is the type of person who is unpredictable. Always think that he is the coolest among the others and will say it out loud.
• Wears shoes with wheels that can be lowered whenever he wants to use them. Rheneas and Skarloey always tried to warn him that it was dangerous to wear rollerskates on the railway but he never listened and he always to show it off.
• Always complaining if there is something doesn't go as he expected, it can make him act a bit rude.
• Sometimes makes trouble for his friends because of that, and he will feel sorry for that. (Still cause problems after that)
• Can be very competitive and vindictive.
• He considers Peter Sam as his brother. Peter Sam and Duke sometimes calls him "Falcon".
• When Luke officially joined them, Sir Handel was the one who was most happy about it. (That's because he's no longer the shortest one among them)
• Secretly loves romantic novels and always hopes that he is the main character. He also has a diary book that he keeps very secret.
• The reason why Mr. Percival always prefers to use his bicycle or ask Thomas to take him whenever he needs to go somewhere. (This is quite funny actually, maybe I'll tell you about this another time)
4) Peter Sam | 27 y.o | 170 cm
• The definition of looking like a cinnamon roll that will actually kill you. Always try to act good in front of Skarloey, Rheneas, and Luke but he can be such a troublemaker when he's with Sir Handel and Duncan. (Still a cinnamon roll)
• Whenever he was bothered by Sir Handel, he would always call him "shortie" to shut his mouth. (It works)
• Sometimes called "Stuart" by Sir Handel and Duke.
• Has a scar on his neck because of the trucks incident.
• Always acts like he doesn't like fairy tales or something but actually he likes them and always listens whenever Skarloey and Rusty start telling stories.
• One of the people who has met Proteus besides Rusty. But he forgot about it because Rusty erased his memory about it through his dreams.
• He really likes to eat and he always brings a large bag of food to work. He cooks it himself and doesn't mind sharing it with others. Sometimes brings snacks for Luke.
• Always confused about making decisions for himself so he's the one who always asked Skarloey, Rheneas, and Duke for advice very often.
5) Rusty | 25 y.o (Fake age) | 169 cm
• One of the most reliable on the railway, he can always fix anything so his friends always ask him for help with it and he doesn't mind helping.
• Just like Skarloey, he always likes to tell lots of things and his favorites are horror stories. He likes to scare Duncan and Peter Sam with it.
• He really likes relaxing classical music and sometimes he will borrow Duncan's headphones to listen to some music.
• He wasn't originally human, he was a ghost before and then being given a second chance to become mortal by Lady and Proteus. Narrow Gauge didn't know about this. And of course he can see ghosts.
• Has a special ability given by Lady and Proteus and that is dream control. He can make dreams and make it seem real when people are asleep, actually given this ability to help Lady and Proteus but sometimes he likes to use it for fun.
• Likes to experiment with it by giving dreams to his friends, although sometimes he accidentally gives them nightmares. The first person to know about his abilities was Skarloey but without them knowing, Sir Handel and Peter Sam overheard about it and of course because of that all the narrow gauges knew about his abilities even Mr. Percival. But they all thought it was cool and promised to keep it between themselves.
• At first he was afraid of Boulder's existence but then he got along quite well with it after that incident.
6) Duncan | 25 y.o | 172 cm
• The tallest among the narrow gauge.
• Worse than Sir Handel, he can be really stubborn and rude. Even Skarloey and Rheneas had quite a hard time dealing with his attitude. But somehow Rusty and Mr. Percival are patient enough to deal with it.
• Always acting tough but actually he can be soft without realizing it.
• Afraid of heights and of course ghosts. He really doesn't like it when Rusty deliberately tells him horror stories. He could have nightmares because of that.
• Has many piercings on his face and ears which are considered cool by Sir Handel and Luke.
• Really loves rock and heavy metal songs, always listening to them through the headphones he always carries. But Mr. Percival wouldn't let him use it while he was working because it will make it difficult for him to stay focus and it could cause problems.
• Very close with the twins Patrick and Pansy. Every time Mr. Percival took them both, he would play with them.
• Very adventurous, he will force Rusty to come with him whenever he finds somewhere interesting to explore.
• He liked to take Sir Handel and Peter Sam to race on the rail track with their engines.
• Also another reason why Mr. Percival always prefers to use his bicycle or ask Thomas to take him whenever he needs to go somewhere. (This relates to how unfocused Duncan can be if he has his headphones on while doing something)
7) Duke | 54 y.o | 167 cm
• He was the mentor of Sir Handel and Peter Sam. Highly respected by both of them and has been considered like a father figure to them.
• Even though he was very old, he refused to retire and decided to continue working on the railway.
• Called "Granpuff" by Sir Handel and Peter Sam. In fact he was still called that by other narrow gauges after moving to the Skarloey Railway.
• Always knows how to deal with the mischievous behavior of his two students. He never falls for any of their pranks and may even be the one who always beats them.
• The Duke actually has connections with the Lady and Proteus. When he was declared missing, he was not asleep for a long time but was actually helping Proteus with something and that because of Lady's request. (There's lore I made for this and it's related to my AU so maybe I'll tell you more about it another time)
• He was the one who gave the diary book to Sir Handel and taught Peter Sam how to cook.
• In his spare time, he really likes to ride around the railway and enjoy the beautiful views. It was really calming for him.
• Never take his glasses away from him. His view completely changed to 144p without it.
8) Luke | 22 y.o | 157 cm
• The youngest and also the shortest among the narrow gauges.
• Literally a cinnamon roll. She's so innocent, a little timid, and too kind. He was always treated like a little brother by the others which was quite cute.
• Having a phobia of the ocean, he actually tried to face his fear but was still unsuccessful due to his trauma.
• Whenever he had free time, he would go to the Steamworks to meet Victor, and because of that he became close friends with Kevin as well. Luke also still often meets Thomas and his best friend Millie.
• Has a deer as a pet and will sometimes take it with him to work.
• It's still quite difficult for him to trust people he just met, but it's different with the narrow gauge, he really trusts them with all his heart.
• Luke was very happy when invited to drink tea by Skarloey, take care of his deer with Rheneas, try roller skating with Sir Handel, eat snacks made by Peter Sam, going on an adventure in a dream made by Rusty when he was asleep, doing Rock n Roll with Duncan, listening to many stories from Duke, and even helping Mr. Percival is out of work.
9) Mr. Percival | 34 y.o | 185 cm
(Ok, this one is actually quite difficult for me because I didn't get much information about him either from ttte eps, wikifandom, and tumblr. So all of this is purely my imagination and how I view him. I hope it doesn't sound so ridiculous :D)
• If Duncan is the tallest among the narrow gauge then this man is much taller than Duncan. And that's why he likes to imagine the narrow gauge as 7 dwarfs. (But of course not to Duke because he respects Duke)
• Not like Sir Topham Hatt. Because his age is not much different from narrow gauge and even younger than Duke, Skarloey, and Rheneas. Mr Percival is also seen as a friend by them outside of work. And he really appreciated that.
• When he heard that Rusty could control dreams, he didn't believe it at first and he even challenged Rusty to give him nightmares. And after Rusty actually does it, he regrets his own request and then believes it. (He even asked Rusty not to tell about his dream to the others)
• Just like Duke, never take his glasses away from him. He would literally go blind without it.
• At first he seemed like a strict person but after being with narrow gauge for quite a while, he was actually quite a chill person. He even casually asked Sir Handel and Peter Sam to be in charge while he is away. (Even though he actually knew they would mess up)
• He doesn't have a hobby that he really likes so when he's not busy and bored, he likes to hang out and have fun with the narrow gauge. He thought that they were very random but that was part of the fun.
• Swear police number 2 after Rheneas, he will glare at Duncan when he starts swearing. He would even keep an eye on him when Duncan played with the twins.
• He always keeps his words professional and polite. But he won't hesitate to be sarcastic when he's annoyed or talking to someone he doesn't like.
• Personally, he doesn't really like driving by car and would prefer to use a bicycle. (And that was made worse after the incident that happened when he asked Sir Handel and Duncan to drive his car. Truly the worst decision he ever made)
• This man has a large collection of bicycles at home and even his children are like that because they follow their father. His wife Polly was doesn't surprised by it and couldn't do anything about it.
• He really doesn't like being seen as that stereotypical nerd just because people assume that he looks like that. Once Sir Handel and Duncan said that he looked like an "emo nerd" just because he wore glasses and always wore black. That really triggered him at that time.
• Has a pet dog which he named Perri, but she (the dog) hates him and only likes Mrs. Polly and the kids.

Which YouTuber would your narrow gauge engines watch?
Oh! Well, they would probably watch Ttte-related youtubers like Victor Tanzig, Thomas Theorist and Diana Starr. I don't think the older engines like Duke, Rheneas and Skarloey would understand that well if they watched content that didn't include their railway in some way.
Rusty might watch FunkyFrogBait, they find their videos extremely entertaining and informative. Plus, it feels nice when you're an enby and your favorite content creator is also non-binary!
Duncan, Peter Sam and Sir Handel all watch shitposts and memes from Shrimpy. The perfectly cut screams video series are a cult classic for them.
Stanley, Luke and Ivo Hugh have no fucking idea what social media is. (Stanley was too isolated from the rest from the world before being rescued, Luke is very young and is just learning about the world and Ivo Hugh isn't that interested in anything else besides his railway)

Rheneas' Return
I’ve been thinking about Rheneas’ return to the Skarloey Railway after his overhaul, and there is a lot to talk about.
First of all, for those who don’t know or maybe just need a reminder, in the RWS Rheneas left the Skarloey Railway for a major overhaul in 1952, having just barely kept the railway running through its darkest hour as its sole working engine since Skarloey was sidelined in 1945.
He was then away from Sodor for 9 years, before finally returning home in 1961.
And he was probably in for a bit of a shock when he returned, because a lot happened in those 9 years.
Tumblr media
First of all, the Skarloey Railway was in the middle of a crisis when Rheneas left. Only one engine is operable barely, the track is falling apart, revenue is low to non-existent, and about 90% of the work needed to keep things functioning day-to-day is being done by just two guys.
When Rheneas returns, it's like a completely new railway. Passengers are plentiful, there are new engines and coaches, the railways workforce has grown significantly, and the track actually feels good to run over instead of delivering a sensation of being repeatedly punched in the frames.
The thing is, Rheneas is still on some level probably going to be operating in crisis mode, because that’s all he’s known since about the beginning of the 1930s.
He insists on taking much more work than the other engines. Partly because he enjoy his work and is extremely happy to be home again, but mainly because he’s been having nightmares for the last few years about returning to nothing, and the fact that the railway still exists let alone that it’s actually thriving, is something which he’s having to constantly remind himself is not just a dream.
Then there’s all of the new stuff.
Before Rheneas left it was just him, Skarloey, the four old coaches and the one guard’s van, the numerous trucks, and a modestly sized workforce who Rheneas knew all of the names of. That was it since the railway began in 1865, the only exception being during WW2 when the war department briefly came in with a few of their own engines.
Now though, there are four new engines, several new coaches, and someone’s coming to light Rheneas’ fire in the morning who isn’t Mr. Hugh (keep in mind that in Rheneas' previous experience this usually meant the regular firelighter had either retired or died).
Also apparently the old slate quarry has been entirely taken over by the military and is now completely off limits, and there’s a big metal fence and a bunch of scary looking signs at the entrance, and frankly the whole situation up there just makes Rheneas feel really uneasy.
Needless to say, it takes something of an adjustment period for Rheneas to get used to everything.
I particularly want to talk about Rheneas early dynamic with the new engines, one in particular. You’ll know who when I get there.
To start with, Rheneas at least saw Sir Handel and Peter Sam before he left, so he at least knows they’re on the railway before he returns.
Tumblr media
The thing is, his first impression of them was probably the same as Skarloey’s: Peter Sam is excitable and maybe a bit too overeager for his own good, and Sir Handel is bad tempered and takes his anger out on everything around him.
Rheneas probably breathed a sigh of relief when he saw they hadn’t burned the place down in his absence.
After Rheneas returns from overhaul he adjusts to the two former Mid Sodor engines well enough.
Sir Handel is still bad tempered, but he also still does his work regardless of how much he grumbles about it. Plus Peter Sam keeps insisting that Sir Handel does indeed mean well and is just having a hard time adjusting, and given the occasional details the two of them just casually drop about life on the Mid Sodor, Skarloey and Rheneas are inclined to give both of them plenty of time to adjust.
Peter Sam is still very energetic but Rheneas also sees that he’s clearly a hard worker, and the fact that the coaches adore him also helps to make him look pretty good in Rheneas’ eyes.
Rheneas immediately takes a liking to Rusty for much the same reason Skarloey did. They’re hardworking, kind, and their work repairing and maintaining the line makes them seem to the two old engines like an angel sent down by Lady herself.
Tumblr media
I fully believe that after years of nothing but bent rails and rotted sleepers, running over an actually good permanent way for the first time after overhaul must have felt like a religious experience to Skarloey and Rheneas.
And then there’s Duncan.
Tumblr media
Duncan, as he will happily admit himself, is a plain blunt engine who will rock and roll, and who speaks as he finds.
Sure, he means well, and he’ll pull just about anything… But Rheneas hears the story of him stopping on the viaduct, and is immediately wary of Duncan.
It doesn’t help that, having had the serious responsibility of being the only working engine on the line for an extended period of time, Rheneas has a bit of complex about doing everything himself and see’s anything that happens on the railway as, at least partially, his responsibility.
So Duncan just fully blowing off his responsibility to his passengers and stopping in the middle of the line, something which Rheneas did only once and very much against his best efforts, just feels like a personal insult to Rheneas.
It doesn’t quite register with him that Skarloey has already given Duncan the whole lecture on why that was stupid and how passengers are important.
And Duncan has improved since then. He acknowledges the importance of looking after his passengers and knows to at least keep his complaints out of earshot of them.
The thing is, Duncan is still a plain blunt engine, and passenger etiquette does not come naturally to him. But he’s trying, and quite frankly some of the passengers' complaints just seem ridiculous to him. So what if he rocks and rolls a bit? That's just how he is, and he still gets them to the station on time… usually.
But when Rheneas hears Duncan one night in the shed complaining about a particularly rough journey where there were significant delays and the passengers were really pushing his limits, Rheneas decides that Duncan still hasn’t learned their ways.
Rheneas may also be having a bit of a crisis of questioning just how much the railway still needs him with all of the new engines who are also there now. And what better way to reassure himself that he's still needed than to position himself as a mentor figure.
Duncan, for his part, does in fact respect Rheneas since Skarloey told him how he had saved the railway, and he wants to get along with the guy…
But that becomes increasingly difficult to do when Duncan keep having moments where he’s shunting the yard, minding his own business and doing a pretty alright job… and then he look towards the sheds and see Rheneas watching him like a hawk, looking for any sign that he’s about to mess up somehow.
And on the occasions that Duncan does mess up, however slight, Rheneas is very quick to give his input on what he did wrong and how the whole situation could have been avoided.
Skarloey may be stern, but he at least acknowledges that Duncan is trying his best, and gives him credit when he does well. He at least gives Duncan the respect of treating him like a capable engine.
So Duncan gets along fine with Skarloey… But Rheneas?
Respect him and his efforts to keep the railway running… Sure.
Actually get along with him… Not so much.
This pretty much sums up the dynamic between the two of them.
Until one day…
Duncan is taking the morning train, and one passenger in particular is just being a complete pain in the ass. It’s not just Duncan who’s fed up with him by the time they leave the station, this guy is getting on everyone’s nerves.
But Duncan puts forward his best effort, and maintains his professionalism.
But the guy keeps being a jerk throughout the entire run up the line. Anything goes slightly wrong, and he’s making his grievances known.
Duncan is glad when he doesn’t see him on the platform when he begins the journey back down the line, the man having decided to hike one of the various trails around Skarloey Lake.
When he gets back to Crovan’s Gate, Duncan immediately rolls off to the sheds and starts venting to whoever will listen about the angry passenger.
And right on cue, Rheneas begins his lecture.
Duncan, by this point, has been having a really bad day, and is quite frankly beyond his normal limits. So he just says “Alright then… You know how to deal with passengers, you take the afternoon train”.
So Rheneas does, and all goes well on the up journey. But then he finds Duncan’s passenger at the top station, who is apparently furious that Duncan’s train didn’t wait for him as he went wandering around the lake.
Rheneas tries to point out, very calmly, that there are schedules posted very clearly at every station building, but the man doesn’t listen.
Ok… This is fine.
Rheneas has dealt with his fair share of difficult passengers before, all of them with grace. He can handle this one.
But the journey back down the line doesn’t go smoothly, and all the while the angry passenger is becoming more and more unbearable.
And then, between Glennock and Cros-ny-Cuirn, Rheneas derails.
It wasn’t a particularly bad derailment, and it wasn’t his fault. Just a bad joint in the rails which Rusty and Mr Hugh hadn’t had the chance to fix on their last maintenance run, and which had been worsened by the last few times a train had run over it.
Naturally, the angry passenger is complaining more than ever now, and Rheneas is feeling rather defeated.
It’s Duncan who comes to rescue the train, and Rheneas is surprised but very grateful for the fact that he doesn’t say anything as Rheneas is leavered back onto the rails.
It’s a pretty speedy rerailing too.
Duncan is coupled on infront and the two engines double-head the train the rest of the way home. They get there with no further issues, and most of the passengers are just happy the derailment was sorted out quickly and efficiently, and that they were still able to catch the connecting train.
All except one.
The angry passenger is now just being insulting. Everyone is tired and unhappy, and now they still have to deal with him ranting about what a bad railway this is.
And then Duncan just snaps.
Rheneas never thought he would be happy to hear someone cursing out a passenger…
But Duncan’s tirade in Rheneas’, his own, and the railways defense, is just about the most cathartic thing he’s ever experienced.
Duncan only fully stops after the Thin Controller gets involved, denies the passenger a refund, and watches him storm off out of the station to catch a bus (he had spent so long arguing he had missed the connecting train).
After that, and with one final uttering of good riddance, the two engines shunt the coaches away and go to the sheds for a well deserved rest.
Rheneas see’s Duncan in a new light after that. He still often disagrees with his more grumpy and blunt approach, but he’s finally giving Duncan some space to make mistakes without needless criticism.
Rheneas still insists on the importance of passengers, and treats all of them with respect and high regard…
But he and Duncan have come to an agreement that some of them are just nuisances.

TTTE Headcanons: Engines’ TV Habits — Skarloey Railway Edition
I really enjoyed making that post about what some engines on Sodor might like to watch on TV. Here’s one all about the SR!
——————————————
Skarloey likes shows about space and space travel. When out of service in the early 1950s, he often had nothing to do except listen to the radio… which exposed him to the Space Race. It was a nice distraction, taking his mind literal worlds away. He developed a genuine interest and continues to tune into documentaries.
Rheneas sometimes watches meditation programs. After years of running his line alone, he struggles to relax. He can’t follow all the directions, being an engine, but it still helps him feel more present and shake off “crisis mode.” And the gentle music and voiceovers are soothing after a long, hard day’s work.
Peter Sam loves catching dreamy, technicolor Hollywood films when they air. The Wizard of Oz is a favorite, with the “no place like home” message resonating with him over the years. TV musicals and musical episodes are also a big hit with him. He enjoys the high energy of those shows and singing along with them.
Sir Handel watches sports, usually football. Or rather, his crew puts it on during breaks, and he complains about it being loud and stupid… but he always gets sucked in anyway and has a blast. He also watches the news so he can chat with Gordon about “the state of the world” on their connecting trains.
Duncan likes stand-up comedy — the more foul-mouthed, the more he laughs — and anything to do with rock n’ roll. If Top of the Pops features a rock artist, he watches and shimmies in place in the engine equivalent of head-banging. He loves getting caught up in guitar riffs and drumbeats that he feels in his frames.
Rusty tunes into home renovation shows. Being a maintenance diesel, they’re curious about the ways humans repair houses and buildings. They also watch shows like Too Cute. This is partly because cute animals are cute animals, but also because they love dragging Duncan along and watching him try not to melt over kittens and puppies. (His record is three minutes.)
Fred, as someone often on weedkiller duty, started to watch gardening shows for tips. He soon became interested in cultivation in general. Now he’s a regular viewer so he can better look after the line-side wildflowers and the station flowerbeds. He hopes to convince the Thin Controller to set up a community vegetable garden, too.
Ivo Hugh watches a lot of animated shows, particularly those to do with superheroes. Aside from enjoying the flashy action sequences and dramatic storylines, he appreciates their moral questions. They spark interesting conversations with the older engines around him. He comes away feeling like he knows himself better… and that none of the heroes on TV compare to the ones he talks to every day.
Duke has strait-laced habits: local news, talking heads, and the occasional program about railways. Or at least, that’s what he wants you to think. He secretly enjoys the show Jeeves and Wooster. He relates to Jeeves, a competent butler who fixes the messes that his well-meaning but barmy employer gets himself into. He would never admit this for fear of hurting His Grace’s feelings.
(He doesn’t know that Sir Robert also loves the show, finding it to lampoon the sort of pretentious, nasty aristocrats who call him improper and ridiculous.)

I like to imagine these two having a hate-love relationship, ship or not, like one day they’d be arguing and cussing the livid hell out of each other and the next they’ll be complaining about everything together

Have my Sir Handel AuDHD headcanons.
Firstly though, these are all my own opinion (as usual) for my own version of Sir Handel. These are not official, and I am not attempting to diagnose anything, these are just light hearted headcanons.
Also a content warning for mentions of self injury in the context of a meltdown and violence in the context of a tantrum. I've tried to describe it as briefly as possible, but I'll give a heads up anyway.
Returning to the headcanons (I'll put them under a cut since there are so many):
Sir Handel has AuDHD (autism and combined type ADHD) and dyspraxia. He was diagnosed with all three when he was 20. His family was fine with it, and they thought that it explained a lot. Had they have known about neurodivergent conditions, they would have gotten him diagnosed a lot sooner. They understand him a lot better, since before they thought that he was just eccentric and had odd behaviours.
•He sometimes uses a cane to help with his balance. The others joke that he needs his cane to balance his big head.
•He has very intense emotions and struggles to control them.
•He really struggles with change.
•His special interets are fashion, gaming, horses, vintage trains and royalty (historical and modern).
•He sensory seeks a lot, often in different ways.
•He has his own rage room. It helps him a lot.
•He makes sound effects a lot (which is him both stimming and sensory seeking).
•He struggles to control the volume of his voice, especially when he is excited or angry.
•He has both tantrums and meltdowns. If he can be easily calmed after getting what he wants, then it is a tantrum. If he cannot be easily calmed, even after being given things that he likes, then it is a meltdown. His behaviour is also different for the two. For tantrums, he shouts, hits and kicks things, stands or sits where he is, refusing to move and mocks those who try to reason with him. For meltdowns, he repeats the same words or sentences over and over, mainly of the things that are overwhelming him, hits or scratches himself, runs off, sits on the floor in a ball, rocks back and forth, starts crying and becomes unresponsive and unable to speak. It can take a while for him to recover from a meltdown. He has learned how to adapt to his environment and understand when he is overwhelmed, so he often walks off to prevent a meltdown. However, this does not always happen due to him getting carried away with what he is doing and not noticing that he is overwhelmed.
•He is forgetful, especially with things that he is not very interested in.
•He did not speak until he was four years old.
•He is either very social or not social at all, there is no in between. Most of the time though, he is not social.
•He has his own way of socialising, which is considered odd by some.
•When he meets someone for the first time, he says "hello, who are you?" and then once they introduce themselves, he then rambles on and on about himself and his interests.
•He has poor pain perception and spatial awareness.
•He is not brilliant at social cues.
•He has a poor short term memory.
•He does not have the best social battery, and gets grumpy and leaves when he has had enough of socialising.
•He prefers to be alone.
•He prefers to live alone, and does so in his large mansion.

Okay so I know I said that the SKR crew would be getting a next hc drop but I have nothing to fucking provide so instead I'll be doing Sir Handel and Sir Haydn. I don't feel like writing lore so have hcs instead
Sir Handel
He is grumpy all the time as he is jealous of Sir Haydn getting all of the attention. He tends to grumble in his sleep if he's irritated. Him and Duncan tend to be at each other's throats for random reason. Sir Handel sometimes wishes he was the only falcon built.
His favorite song:
Sir Haydn
She is quite shy and keeps to herself as she hates crowds. She absolutely hates the fact that she is more popular than her brother. She is aware that she cannibalized her siblings. Her and E.T are in a relationship. Sir Haydn because of her steam roller wheels it makes her wobble in her engine form.
Her favorite song:
Here's a small interaction between the two since their last meet up, this took place before the announcement of the Awdry extravaganza 2024
Sir Handel: "why are you still here you faceless freak"
Sir Haydn: "... "
Sir Handel: "it should have been you who was cannibalized not my siblings"
Sir Haydn: "why do you hate me so much what did I do wrong"
Sir Handel: "you ruined my life over becoming more popular than me, I wish I was the only falcon ever built"
Sir Haydn: "... " *she looks at Sir Handel to reveal her teary face*
@steam-beasts I used your Duncan and Douglas post as inspo

what do the narrow gauge engines want for Christmas
Skarloey: a lovely winter run with talyllyn.
Rheneas: a sword. I don't know what I would do with a sword, maybe hang it up in my cab maybe? or I can just settle with rocks. rocks are fun.
Sir Handel: George in pieces, gift wrapped separately, each rivet, each nut, and each screw, every single part of George, all wrapped up, and presented to me on a flatbed with Christmas lights and ribbons. I don't want to see a single piece of George together. I want to he him dismantled piece by piece, and then gift wrapped
Peter Sam: I don't know, maybe a hot plate of fish and chips for my driver? but a nice coat of paint would be fine, and a new whistle.
Duncan: a new fancy stereo system for the shed, and a nose piercing.
Rusty: a flamethrower for the weeds along the track would be nice. and a rotary snowplow meant for narrow gauge.
Duke: his grace would like a nice warm jacket.
Freddie: I do remember a little line that cuts through the mountains that would make for a nice scenic route for the passengers. maybe a restoration of any old line that I choose?
Mighty mac: separation surgery.
Luke: I just want to meet Santa's reindeer.
Ivo Hugh: hang on, I thought Proteus was the one who gave us gifts, why am I just hearing this now? I just had my driver send my letter to proteus! is it too late to write one to Santa!?

🚂Sir Handel/Falcon⭐
💙Sir Handel was working in the small railway with Peter Sam, but the railroad was closed and they working on Skarloey Railway now
💙Sir Handel is one of the strictest engines on Skarloey Railway, and is very serious about his work, sometimes even too much of an attidute
💙Sir Handel is a whiner, but not as much as Duncan. Duncan calls him "the crook-nosed one" to tease him
💙Sir Handel has a little crush on Peter Sam because he finds him very cute and cheery, but he's having issues to admit it to him, like stress, anxiety and shyness, But to express his love for him, he likes to bring him some stuffed dolls
💙Sir Handel teases Peter Sam when he loses his funnel, but inside he feels sad for him, Peter Sam calls him by "Falcon" but this doesn't bother Sir Handel
💙He is a fan of snow, because winter is his favorite season of the year, and he loves playing in the snow with his friends, which is why he has snow decoration on his bangs
💙He sometimes can be very bossy and rude according to his shitty mood, he doesn't care about what others say about him, and he likes to show that he is the best among everyone
💙He had long hair like James, but Mr. Percival ordered him to cut it because he thought he looked like girls. He felt frustrated, but he did not want to disobey Mr. Percival's orders, so he cut it a little
💙He likes to wear gloves in all forms. Sometimes he wears gloves with cut fingers, or regular gloves with both hands or with one hand
💙He is addicted to strawberries, it's his favorite fruit
