Daggerheart First Impressions
Taking a brief look at Daggerheart Playtest document from Darrington Press. This game needs some refinement, but it looks great on paper so far. I definitely see it selling to the Critical Role audience.
It’s awesome for Critical Role fans. The playtest package can be found at this link. I’ve been in this hobby for over 40 years, and I’ve seen many games come and go. Companies with products who looked like they were going to stand the test of time are gone now. Games that looked like hot garbage at first glance are still around today. Darrington Press’ Daggerheart is still very much up in the…

I'm starting my readthrough of Adversaries of the Righteous for Exalted 3rd Edition. It's is the "character book" partner the "moster book" of Hundred Devils Night parade. It's similar in format with contained entries with a single character, but uses the long-form character write ups rather than quick character stats.
The first chapter is mortals, which can be a challenge in Exalted due to the power level of the Exalted characters. That means mortals needs something that lets the punch up, and interesting story, or social connections to really make them relevant. #ttrpg
The first character is a martial arts master who leads the Coiled Viper Dojo and thh Night Talons gang. She gets access to Exalted martial arts through the snake spirit that once blessed the dojo she took over. She's an audacious bandit willing the challenge the Exalted. 1/2
While she probably isn't a threat to a group of player characters, she makes an interesting foil, mentor, or ally.

Caverns of the Underdark: 3D Adventure Set - Short Review
Tumblr media
Caverns of the Underdark: 3D Adventure Set
Pre-painted Underdark scenery pieces that I bought for 4e D&D but ended up actually using for Gloomhaven.
Expensive for what they are but if you can find them cheap they are really nice! I especially liked the pools and how they were made with clear resin.

MÖRK BORG Review.
MÖRK BORG is a great game for short campaigns and One-Shots or limited runs.I think it’s slightly meatier than Blades in the Dark, but the game concepts are somewhat similar. You get the setting of MÖRK BORG along with the rules and it’s pretty dark.
A post-apocalyptic game from Free League Publishing written by Pelle Nilsson MÖRK BORG has only been around for a few years, but it has gotten a lot of attention, variants, and third party expansions. For a small indie game, it’s done remarkably well. The system is pretty simple. Unfortunately for characters, life in MÖRK BORG seems nasty, brutish, and terribly short. MÖRK BORG is a great game…

#RPGaDay2024: August 25th.
Part of #RPGaDay2024. I love DiceDruid.com.
Desirable Dice: Dice Druid. Every once in a while Dice Druid will offer up free dice, just pay shipping. I shamelessly take advantage of these offerings. They have always sent me very nice quality dice. I also think their actual paid dice are pretty cool. You don’t have to get the mystery sets, but they are pretty spiffy. This latest set came in the mail on September 15th. They’re a little…

Dragonbane Bestiary Review Part 4.
We saved the best entries for last. So much awesome in these last three sections. I highly recommend taking a look even if you don't run Dragonbane.
Undead, Dragons, and Demons. Oh my. We’ve come to my favorite part of the Dragonbane Bestiary. I promise not to gush over every single entry this time, but we’re in three (actually four if you count Constructs) of my favorite monster categories. The last three categories are probably where this book shines brightest. Disclaimer: This is not a paid review. I bought this book with money I…

Dragonbane Bestiary Part 2.
Dragonbane Bestiary Review Part 2 where I discuss Nightkin and Rare Kin. Also, briefly mention of Insectoids. It's a cool book!!
Have I mentioned how much I love this thing? Let’s start off by discussing the Nightkin. These are Goblins, Orcs, Hobgoblins, and Ogres. They’re all nocturnal in nature and take damage from sunlight. All four of these Kin may be used as playable characters should the group agree to do so. Disclaimer: This is not a review copy. I came into this book using the meager lawn mowing money I earn and…

5 Fantasy Alternatives to Dungeons & Dragons.
My Top 5 Dungeons & Dragons alternatives for 2024. We've already got so many awesome games at hand, why go looking for more?
I’ve heard too much about supposed D&D breakers this week. I’m suffering from fantasy burnout. Not the kind from running or playing in a TTRPG. The kind where I can’t handle hearing about yet another new or revised game coming to Kickstarter or splattered all over YouTube like cheap latex paint. Fabula Ultima TTJRPG. 5. Fabula Ultima TTJRPG: This game emerged as one of the best TTJRPGs of…

Dragonbane Review Part 1
Our neighbors from far across the pond came up with a game called D och D: Drakar och Demoner. This Swedish game by Fria Ligan (Free League Publishing) is known as Dragonbane here in the USA. I'm excited for this game!
I’m  absolutely enthralled by this game right now. [DISCLOSURE: I received a free digital copy of the Dragonbane Core Set from Free League Publishing. I am not an affiliate, nor have I received any compensation for the review itself. ]   Before I got into Dragonbane, I downloaded the free Quickstart Rules from DrivethruRPG.com. I also watched all of the lovely Dragonbane How-To videos by…

Dragonbane Review Part 5.
I can't stop talking about Dragonbane. I'm still really pumped up about it. Magic, Combat and a little more today.
Magic and Combat. (*I promise I won’t do reviews this long for all of the Free League Products, but Dragonbane is just so darn good!) [DISCLOSURE: I received a free digital copy of the Dragonbane Core Set from Free League Publishing. I am not an affiliate, nor have I received any compensation for the review itself. ]   For my first Mage, I rolled up an Animist. Have I mentioned there’s no…

Dragonbane Review Part 3.
Yes, I'm making characters today. Hang out as we explore the ins and outs of character creation in Dragonbane RPG by Free League Publishing.
Today we finish character creation and move onto the rest of the book. I know I’m taking this review to the extreme, but I’m enjoying just reading through this game. Dragonbane is on another level from a good number of other fantasy TTRPGs. It’s Old School, but yet it’s a fresh take from what I’m used to seeing in most fantasy games. 2023-2025 is seeing new, revised, or adapted (high) fantasy…

Dragonbane Review Part 2
Part 2 of my in depth review of the Dragonbane TTRPG. Today we go through the basics and talk about Kin.
Main Rules Chapter 1: Intro and Chapter 2: Creating a Character. Dragons and Demons have been at war over the land since the most ancient of times. The dragons, keepers of Law and Order through, well, draconian means spread far and wide. The Demons spread Chaos and Corruption wherever they went. According to the backstory, their war ended in the ruination of the earliest civilization, leaving…

Fistful of Goblins Review
The OG GM makes a mean Weird West book. CHeck out Fistful of Goblins- a d20 compatible TTRPG. It's how the west was weird.
This is another fine game from Michael Straus- The OG GM. Art by Aaron Cornelius. This product can be found on DriveThruRPG at This Link. Fistful of Goblins is set in one of the strangest of Weird West settings. It’s loosely d20 compatible, meaning it will work with pretty much any d20 roll high system. The Aaron Cornelius art really completes this game in terms of theme and aesthetics. The…

Artificer’s Guide to Magic Items.
I highly recommend Artificer's Guide to Magic Items for anyone interested in the Dungeons & Dragons Artificer Class. Matt Carson and his team have dome a really outstanding job with this supplement. I have high praise for this book.
By Matt Carson of Sector M Games. Available on the DMsGuild HERE. (*Full Disclosure: I was contacted by Matt Carson and received a free PDF copy of the product for review purposes. Thank you, Matt! However, I have not been compensated for a good review in any way.) I really liked this book. It’s available in PDF or color hardcover. It’s already a Silver bestseller on DMsGuild, which is pretty…
