Man is not keeping it together. Blushes easily, flusters easily, stutters easily. Very easy to read. However, also the biggest sweetie and nicest man. Would rather die than cross your boundaries.

Yu Nanba

He kind of just gets stiff? He's similar to Ichiban in that he can get flustered but rather than sputtering, he just goes stiff as a board. One the other hand, he also becomes quite doting of his crush, asking if they've eaten and such.

Adachi Koichi

Sort of remains the same, if I'm being honest. Does try to be a show off though or sound cool, much to the behest of Ichiban and Nanba. Kind of a goofball and smiles from ear to ear when he sees you.

Saeko Mukoda

As much as I hate to use this stereotype, she does have her tsundere moments. She's less concerned about impressing you and more concerned about what a relationship with you would look like. You might catch her lost in thoughts, which can make her a little nervous.

Tianyou Zhao

The biggest flirt. Loves classic moves like comparing hand sizes. Totally winks at you for fun and is not ashamed of it. Definitely most likely to be a tease out of the entire Ichigang.

Joon-Gi Han

To put it bluntly, a little fool. Mostly shows his interest by looking out for you, making sure you don't need anything and things like that. Extremely loyal, he'll find it nearly impossible to tear himself away from your side. Will show you the most adorable pretty doe eyes, it's almost as if his entire crush manifests there.

in case anyone was wondering the big ship of jidaiger is red/green. they start out like. you know that scene in cherimaho where kurosawa smiles and adachi is like (wincing) "he's too bright." it's like that at first.

green doesn't believe that anyone can be quite so perfectly heroic and enthusiastic and is convinced that red is just putting on an act until red takes a dangerous blow for him during one of their battles and he's like wtf this guy is for real??

that injury exacerbates red's old one from his tennis days and in their next battle he's really struggling to even hold his toyetic plastic sword. green has to be like geez. you don't have to win alone you know. you can rely on your teammates sometimes... and he swaps weapons with him so that he has the sword and red can use his toyetic plastic gun that has a simple auto-fire button and tells him to hang back for this one as he rushes in to fight in his place.

after that green starts finding physical therapy videos on youtube for red to watch to help him with his injury. and after a while red is like :D green-san i think my grip is getting much stronger now! come test it for me! but then he gets emotional as they're holding hands and is like no one but my sister has ever cared for my wellbeing like you have... you are a true friend... as green sits there like (turning red) (tsunderely) i-it's not that big a deal!

Ranking Anime I Watched in 2024

The Apothecary Diaries (Fall 2023, Winter)

Where’s the Replay button?; Jinshi is boy wife material; I love him! Maomao is also beast FL I’ve ever seen. Her sarcasm and sudden happy moments make me laugh every episode. I think we finally found a mainstream anime that is actually worth the name of anime of the year. Characters are actual characters instead of tropes or stereotypes. The stories are unique to themselves. The animation is beautiful. What more could you ask for? I also watched this anime under the English dub, and it’s actually pretty damn good. Whoever voices Maomao was destined to be that character. Furthermore, the animation itself is straight up gorgeous! Studios OLM and TOHO animation really did a number on this one, especially in the last episode. They announced a season 2 and I’m stoked for it.

Dungeon Meshi (Winter)

Where's the Replay Button?; I originally had no interested in watching this show at the time, but then the English dub came out and I found out that Damien Haas voiced one of the main characters, so I changed my mind super quickly. Hell, when I found this out, I even surprised my boyfriend with the revelation. As far as the show itself is concerned, I think this is the best anime of the year, and I can’t believe it was released so early. While we’ve been returning to the traditional fantasy settings without the help of reincarnation or isekai, we’ve also been blessed with a hilarious and dramatic show involving cooking monster meat. I never thought I would be interested in a show like t his, but all of the characters and the plot are so intriguing.

A Sign of Affection (Winter)

They Got the Bag; I’ve seen a lot of comments about Yuki being infantilized for her disability, and when I see those comments from both the anime and manga pages, I thought people meant Itsuomi was the one doing that, but that turned out not to be true at all. In fact, Itsuomi is the dreamiest ML in any shojo romance I’ve ever seen. He does everything to make sure that Yuki was both seen and heard throughout the entire show. You know, like normal human beings? The only person who seems to infantilize Yuki is that son of a bitch childhood friend of hers, Oushi. He wasn’t written great in the manga either, and the anime seems to continue the tradition. I think what the series is trying to do is show the audience that Oushi is a tsundere who secretly has a crush on Yuki, but all it does is show the audience that Oushi feels that Yuki being deaf is a burden to everyone rather than just a condition she has, which Itsuomi does the complete opposite of. So for people who still think that this series is disability bait, actually look into this and think again.

Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (Winter)

Good For What it Was; I watched the drama before jumping into the anime adaptation. Perhaps it has to do with the timing and how many episodes because this anime is way more funny and better paced than the drama was. The only thing going against it is how not great the animation is. I mean, it was a BL, so I wasn’t expecting much, but in more recent years, BL anime have been better animated as if they were mainstream series. After doing quick research, I found out this series was animated by Satelight. You might be familiar with their previous works: Shuga Chara, Macross, partially worked on Fairy Tail, Log Horizon, Nanbaka, and the AKB48 anime series. The majority of the series this studio worked on are unknown or they didn’t do so well in gainly public praise, so maybe I should’ve seen that coming. However, if you look past the animation, the show is actually very heartwarming. Adachi and Kurosawa are adorable together. So were the side couple Wataya and Tsuge. If I had to compare this anime to the live drama, the side couple were a lot more appealing in the anime because they had more chemistry expressed, and I highly appreciated that. THAT ENDING THOUGH! I ACTUALLY CRIED!

Nijiyon Animation Season 2 (Spring)

Good for What it Was; Still just your typical mini series to the main Nijigasaki girls. Nothing special, but the fluff was fun.

I’m Home, Welcome Home (Spring)

Where’s the Replay Button?; This is the first time that anime has tackled an Omegaverse manga story. If you don’t know what Omegaverse is, it’s way too much to explain it here, but I will tell you that this is the most wholesome of the Omegaverse stories you’ll ever find in the entirety of Japanese manga. I’ve been wondering when I’m gonna find the cutest anime of the year, and Tadaima, Okaeri is it. For some reason, I was surprised that this anime was made by Studio Deen, but at the same time, I should not have been because this is the same studio responsible for Sasaki and Miyano, one of my favorite BL series of all time.

I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History (Fall)

Wanted to like but it has eh?; This is my very first villainess isekai series, so perhaps I should treat this as a villainess isekai for beginners type of series. It doesn’t specify much about the main character’s life before becoming Alicia, but it pretty much describes the world of the game the MC played prior to being isekaied into the world. While the setup is how you expect the game’s story to go and how Alicia will change up some things, we also start realizing that the game is not following the script not only due to Alicia’s decisions, but because everything is not exactly what it seems in the game. This story had a lot of good elements that could’ve worked in the story, but I think Alicia’s two plots in taking Liz down and helping out this poverty-stricken village don’t seem to mix much at all. Perhaps I’m missing something because this show is based off of a series of ongoing light novels, and this is supposed to be the season one of the whole thing, but even with that being the case, I feel that some characters, especially those who are supposed to be the meat of the plot, are not crafted well, and it’s very hard to tell what Alicia actually wants to do and who she wants to be. I know in game logic, the character of Alicia is supposed to be stubborn, passive aggressive, and confident beyond belief, and there’s only a few moments in which we see the MC actually falter at times. We don’t really see what MC’s end game is supposed to be. Like why is she doing this after being isekaied into the game? Yeah, she wants to be the best villainess in the world, but what exactly does that mean? Again, maybe that’s the point as the source material is still going, but I would like to know more than just that. As a first season, it definitely solidified that I wouldn’t watch the next one if it ever comes around.

Acro Trip (Fall)

Good For What It Was; This series had all the amount of cornball that I needed out of a magical girl parody. I don’t think it’s the perfect parody of the genre, but it was enough its own story to keep me invested in Chizuku, Chroma, and Berry’s character arcs. Chroma is MegaMind levels of hilarious, and I love him so much. I feel that with more episodes that this show could’ve been expanded more, but considering how long it took for even the show to get made in the first place (I think this thing was announced back in 2022!), this was probably the best we were going to get. I found out before posting that this was Studio Voil’s very first series, so it kinda makes sense why it took so long to make. Animation quality is pretty good for a first show though. The first episode did indeed get me invested, and the show kept me invested.

Love Live Superstar Season 3 (Fall)

Where's the Reply Button?; I don’t know what the producers took but the music for this season is a vast improvement compared to season 2. It makes me feel like I’m reliving season 1 all over again. The member plot points feel more fleshed out now than they did last season. The biggest improvement was Natsumi, who we finally get her reasons for why she acts the way she does now that her sister, Tomari, is in the picture. Also, thank you show for writing Keke less like a dick. All of us at the Love Live fandom appreciate that. Shiki is still best girl. The songs are at their peak this season, which is a massive improvement from Season 2, thank the lord.

Romeo-kun and Juliet-senpai

1 normal guy, 25 crazy girls

College first-year Romeo Adachi is a generic boy, studying to be a male witch, with a complex about his first name. In a crazy world filled with magical life forms, Romeo has no special features. Juliet Oyamada, a catgirl who is a year older than him, also has a complex about her name….

One day they meet, and end up hating each other. Then they find out each other’s first name… and chaos ensues.

Romeo and Juliet hate each other, but can’t seem to ever be separated. Especially since their families want them to get married because of their “star-crossed names.” (Even though in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the two families hated each other. Oh the irony!)

At the hidden magic college they go to, only 10% of the current student body is male. Romeo has a long time crush on the cheerful and sporty fox fauna girl, Ashley.

In Romeo’s class, there are 5 boys and 25 girls.

Romeo is an extremely plain guy surrounded by 25 crazy magic girls of all kinds of tropes. This manga is kind of a parody and the tropes are played with.

The world is a magical version of Earth. The school is a college campus that teaches magic, and is a very zany school filed with dungeons and secret rooms. There is also an adventurous twist in the story. Eventually.

The girls also all seem a bit bisexual.

A fauna is a person with animal ears and a tail.

The characters are as follows…

Tsundere girl with twintails- Juliet Oyamada the catgirl. She is messy, aggressive, bad-mannered, but has a good heart… and is surprisingly cute. She has orange hair in wavy long twintails.

Genki tomboy who loves sports- Ashley, Romeo’s initial crush and childhood friend from late elementary. A fox girl who is chaotic, uncouth, loud, deranged. She has boyish red hair.

The modest everygirl- Ichigo the dog fauna who has a crush on Romeo. Has been friends with Romeo since early high school. She has short pink hair.

Most adorable girl ever- Tomona the alien. She has pink skin, black hair, and antennae-like alien ears. Very innocent. She says “boop” after everything.

Shy nerdy book girl- Kyoko the cyclops. Kyoko is quiet, but knowlegable a wide range of subjects. She reads everything she can get her hands on. She cries easily, but hates to do so because a cyclops crying with one eye as is deemed a spectacle of sorts.

Mysterious pretentious girl- Daphne the reptile fauna dragon girl. She fakes being mysterious, basically.

Sassy gyaru girl- Leigh the bunnygirl. Leigh is confident and a bit loud, but kind and quite intelligent. She wears the gyaru fashion style and is a dancer. She is half-Uruguayan.

Masculine fighter girl- Kirara, centaur with an unfitting cute name. Kirara has a shaved head. She does martial arts, and can do a few extra moves due to being a centaur.

Dummy baka airhead girl- Hilda the chubby elfin girl. Hilda’s mind is always somewhere else. She also yells a lot. She is 4 feet and 6 inches. She is chubby.

Shy shrinking violet girl- Tasha the fairy. Tasha can shrink down to fairy size when she wants. She is very shy and doesn’t like to be seen, so it’s often. She is Black and has purple braids.

Sparkly cute idol girl- Aimi the android girl. Aimi was an android built to sing and dance, but she became sentient.

Normal tsukkomi girl- Amanda the harpy. Amanda thinks she’s the only normal person in this whole school. She constantly remarks when people are being Weird. She has a beak. 

Otaku girl- Hyorin, Korean fairy girl. She moved to Japan because she loves anime. Hyorin loves the yuri genre and secretly loves girls herself… She even has two moms.

Classy well-mannered girl- Etsuko who has 3 eyes. She also has lavender skin and horns. She is classy and strict, and cannot handle uncouth things and people.

Wild girl who causes mischief- Meiran, Chinese, undead monster girl. She is always causing mischief and yelling. And living live to the extreme. And yelling.

Genius stoic emotionless girl- Zoey the serpentine girl. Nobody knows what goes on in Zoey’s head, but it’s a lot.

Sweet sleepy girl- Sonya the cyclops monster girl. She has a comfy presence. Sonya can’t wink because she has one eye. She is prone to falling asleep.

Zany inventor girl- Ayana, giraffe girl transfer student from Tanzania. She wears huge nerdy glasses. She also has a long neck. Ayana is always yelling “eureka!” 

The mean queen girl- Minoru, called “Meanie” by boys, ghost undead. Minoru is your classic telenovela mean girl. Why is she so mean? What a snob.

Big sister girl- Urara is Kirara’s older sister and a centaur. Urara is very sweet, protective, and nurturing. She also gets into fights and kicks butt.

Tough punk sukeban girl- Nicole the wolf fauna. A lone wolf, who is similar to Miyu but doesn’t get along with her. They are rivals from opposing gangs. She has… you guessed it, a soft spot for cute things.

Yankee gang girl- Miyu the horned banshee. She is from an opposing gang to Nicole and clashes with her. She is always yelling and is very uncouth.

Goth musician girl- Rune the android alien girl. She loves to rock, demonic style.

Clumsy girl- Anisa the cheerful Indonesian Muslim deer fauna, a baker. She loves to cook but often spills her batter and trips over crumbs… But her cakes and cookies are usually delicious and filled with love… and sometimes random items she clumsily lost in the batter.

Edgy chuunibyou girl- Aurelia Xiomara Petrichor VII. A vampire. Yes, that’s her real name. She is pretentious and is a lord of the darkness.

The plain generic guy- Romeo Adachi. He’s so normal that it’s weird.

Obnoxious friend- Sugano the obnoxious yelling vampire. He is bald.

Handsome senpai friend- Kawamoto the sexy alien. He has a mustache.

Shy guy friend- Kizaki the ghost undead beaver fauna boy. He is soft.

Manly muscle guy friend- Nitta the fat bear fauna guy. He has a beard. He is gentle but kind of strange sometimes. Lots of muscle.

Eccentric teacher- Emma Hoshimi the art teacher is zany and eccentric

Shy teacher- Sori Lee the science teacher is always messing around in the chemistry room and causing explosions. She is very shy though.

Strict teacher- Kasey Elmer the math teacher is usually fed up with students. And life.

Protective teacher- Kendra Wilson is a nice teacher who cares deeply about the students, isn’t afraid to break up fights and get to the bottom of problems.

Romeo’s loyal mutt dog- Miso the brown shaggy dog. He looks like a bear.

An adorable cat who says “nimu nimu”- Poco is a blue cat! 

A flying pig- Spot the winged pig can fly.

A little dinosaur- Toothy the little T-Rex.

A cute dragon- Garnet is an adorable dragon and a school pet.

mitosi, on the other hand, is a drug addicted pocky-girl who works at a nuclear power plant. she's poor because she spends all of her money on drags and glue and lives in a shitty one-bedroom apartment.

He thought of him as a nuisance by staying around him when he does his late practice and even when they were "friends", he thought of him as a nuisance but over time, Kazunari who is willing to comply with Shintarō's ridiculous requests becomes something more.

Natsuki Adachi: Exclusively shipped with @sportbaes . An older girl born with bad luck just like him. Her family owns a bakery that makes red bean buns that he enjoys. Although he is selfish, she is very forgiving of him and in time, the two of them pursue a relationship and he gives her lucky items to make sure she is safe.

Yosuke- I like him but also at the same time I need a 10 foot pole between him and every character that’s not the protag. Also how are you so homophobic when your level 10 social link was one of the gayest things I’ve ever read

Chie- Not a huge fan. Galactic punt go brr? Oh I liked her third semester convo ig

Yukiko- I liked her mostly bc of her social link just bc it was kind of similar to what I was going through at the time. Also good design (I just like characters with black/dark hair)

Teddie- Dunno why everyone hates on Morgana when he’s like a hundred times more annoying. Probably my least favorite character but I also hate that they made me feel for him around the end of his character arc

Kanji- Second favorite character. Aside from how they handled(?) his sexuality I liked everything else about him. I wasn’t a really big fan of the accepting their shadow scenes but I did like his.

Rise- Hi it’s my favorite character. Maybe I just like nav’s I liked her from the moment she claimed her persona and was like I’ll back you up. The whole senpai adoration was bit of a whiplash from that but I loved everything else about her. Also cute design and good voice acting was a plus

Naoto- Again not gonna delve into how they handled the gender issue, but I also liked her. I couldn’t get too far into her social link, but I still enjoyed the parts from the story. I like how she kicks the enemy when she crits lol. Also solid design one of my favorites from the game

Kou- Actually got pretty invested in his social link. Good character

Ayane- She was there ig. I liked her farewell conversation

Sayoko- I’ll see you again

Nanako- sweet baby child

Dojima- I prefer coffee dad but he was solid

I dunno if there’s a proper term for it, but I love platonic tsunderes. Give me characters who can’t help but push away their friends because they think they don’t deserve them. Characters who want to reach out but are too proud or scared to show vulnerability. Characters who are mad at the world and everyone in it but deep down still crave human connection with an unmatched intensity. Romantic tsunderes are fun, but a platonic tsundere? We love to see it.
