Just the beginnings of a drawing here. Actually, this is the first time I've drawn her, somehow. She is one of my favourites. I'm not sure if I'll finish this, or restart the idea from scratch, as I have plans for the image when I can find the time...

The Legacy

The sun hung low in the sky, casting long, solemn shadows across the packed courtyard. It was the first memory Tsunade could truly grasp, something tangible in her young mind that would never leave her. There had been other memories before this, fragments of laughter, the warmth of strong arms lifting her high, the deep rumble of a voice that could fill the room with joy. But those were fleeting—snippets of something almost too perfect to remember fully.

Today was different. Today, at nearly four years old, Tsunade stood at the front of a sea of faces, her tiny form dwarfed by the towering presence of the clan heads, shinobi elites, and her own family. This was not the same warmth she remembered, not the private smiles exchanged behind closed doors in their family estate. This was cold. This was public. A funeral for the Shodai Hokage.

Not for her grandfather.

No, the mourning for her grandfather had already happened, hidden away from the prying eyes of the world. She had been allowed to cry for him in the privacy of her clan’s home, tucked between her grandmother’s arms, clutching her grandfather’s familiar robes that still smelled faintly of him. But here, in front of all these people, she was not mourning her grandfather—she was witnessing the farewell of the God of Shinobi, the Shodai Hokage, Senju Hashirama. And the weight of it felt unbearable.

She stood between her grandmother and her grand-uncle, her tiny fists clenched at her sides. The adults flanked her, pillars of strength that she couldn’t yet understand, couldn’t yet mimic. She stared at the large portrait at the front, a painting of a man who seemed both familiar and impossibly distant. Her grandfather, smiling as he always had, his warmth radiating from the canvas. But here, amidst the crowd, it was as though he was a stranger.

So many people. She marveled at how vast the gathering was. Clans from every corner of the village, leaders of nations, shinobi whose names she had heard whispered in reverence. All of them here for him, for the Hokage.

Is this what it means to be Hokage? The idea struck her, gnawing at the edges of her young mind. To be surrounded by all these people, yet so alone in death? The thought terrified her, though she couldn’t yet articulate why.

As she stood there, words from long ago whispered at the edges of her memory. She could almost feel the weight of her grandfather’s large hands as they rested on her shoulders, could almost hear his deep, comforting voice telling her that one day, she could be Hokage. That she had the strength, the will, the bloodline to lead. Back then, those words had filled her with pride. Back then, sitting in his lap, nothing had seemed impossible. She had believed him.

But now, standing there, staring at the sea of mourners, she realized with a sickening certainty that she didn’t want it. Not any of it.

Her small fists clenched tighter, nails biting into her palms. If being Hokage was so special, then why was he dead? If being Hokage was supposed to be such an honor, why had it stolen him away from her? Why couldn't she still run to him when the day ended, climb into his bed, and wrap herself in the warmth of his laughter? Why couldn’t she hear his voice anymore?

Being Hokage was nothing special. If it were, he’d still be here. He’d still be laughing. He’d still be alive.

She refused to cry. Her throat burned with unshed tears, her vision blurred slightly as her eyes stung with the effort of holding them back. Crying would be admitting defeat, and she wasn’t ready to surrender to this grief. Not here. Not in front of all these strangers who mourned the Hokage, but didn’t understand what she had lost.

And so, she stood there, fists trembling at her sides, as she took her first bitter taste of what the future held for her—a future filled with expectations, with responsibilities she hadn’t asked for. A life as a kunoichi, as a Senju, as someone who would always be compared to the man in that portrait. A legacy she would never truly live up to, a burden placed on her tiny shoulders before she even knew what it meant to carry it.

When the time came, she bowed. It was expected of her, a ritual she barely understood but performed with the grace instilled in her from birth. One final bow, her body bending stiffly as the crowd remained hushed. The green crystal around her neck—a new addition to her small figure, gifted to her after his passing—swayed with the motion, catching the sunlight as she straightened.

The necklace was heavy against her chest, its weight a reminder of the man she had lost. To the world, he had been a god, but to her… to her, he had simply been 'ojii-san'.

And now, both were gone.

In a His Dark Materials x Naruto crossover what would you think Sakura’s daemon would be? I was thinking of something like a black bear.

Ohhhh my god this would be hard, depending on what traits of hers are being emphasized.

I think this is corny but the first go-to in my head is a lioness. Powerful, forceful, social, takes care of others in its group. Iirc, a daemon is usually the opposite gender as you so it would be a male lion with a mane, not a lioness like I'd prefer, and I'm def feeling lioness more than lion for some reason so ehh...

I like the idea of a bear as well but not so sure about black bear (though a black bear's color would look great against her color palette...sigh...) It's just that black bears are like...quite a docile, timid kind of bear. I think if Sakura were to have a bear, it would be a brown bear/grizzly as it's more imposing and strong but still kind of aesthetically cutesy. A polar bear is even more powerful and vicious, but almost TOO much so for canon Sakura I think. Aligning her with a polar bear feels like I'm dipping into fanon a bit.

I think I'll stick with brown bear for now.

Slug Princess and Lord of Fire

A special drawing I made in celebration for reaching 70 chapters of my fanfic!

The main pair is SasoSaku, but in chapter #70 we explore Tsunade's past story with the main villain of the fic, feudal lord Hanazono. It was fun to write!

AU Talks! Clan Secrets-verse!

So a little introduction at the beginning. This is my AU which as you can see above is named "Clan Secrets". To be honest the name is just something I thought up in the middle of the night so... Yeah. The main topic here will be slowly getting through the time line of my verse. Feel free to ask me questions about the whole thing! I will do my best to answer

It will not be chronological, unfortunately. So yeah.. let's begin!

Political marriage of Mito Uzumaki & Hashirama Senju

In my AU, the marriage between Mito and Hashirama was entirely political. Don't get me wrong, I love them together but for the drama purposes and just the kick of it, in this AU the marriage was purely politics.

This doesn't mean they didn't love each other. Because they did, just.. not as a married couple. They were best of friends, neither was attracted to the other and it was fine with them both. They had an agreement, one heir to pacify the elders and be done with it. They also agreed that they both could seek out lovers on the side if one of them wished to do so.

And here is why the last sentence is relevant. Because in my AU, Mito did seek out a lover, they fell in love (were cheered on by a gleeful Hashirama on the way) and were happily in a non-married relationship. From their love was born a son, way younger then Mito/Hashi child (5 year difference) but yeah. Also the lover was Senju. And because Mito was, you know, kiyubi container and couldn't exactly hide the pregnancy it was agreed that Hashirama would claim the child as his own, to dodge a political scandal and shunning of a bastard, and all that. And that's how Tsunades father was born. And that's why neither Nawaki nor our favourite Slug Princess were able to develop Wood release.

The whole family was perfectly happy with their arrangement. Hashi was happy for his bestie and he had another child to coo at, Mito had someone who loved her romantically and had two children to look after, and Mitos lover was somehow adopted into the main family of Senju and was (publicly at least, in private he was basically a second father to both rascals) the cooler uncle while Tobirama was the one who was the mad scientist uncle.

You can dislike them for whatever reason, i have no control over that, but each of them has a place in the story and traits that make them pretty incredable and instead of tearing other female character’s down to prop your fav up you should learn to simply prop up your fav on her own merits

Sakura is strong, determined, never gives up, and without her a lot of people would have died

Hinata is sweet, notices Kiba and Shino even when others ignore/miss them (like when Kiba was upset people were ignoring his dream of becoming hokage. Hinata is the only one who makes it clear she hears him) dedicated and although she’s not strong she can be scary (ripping Hinabi’s eyes out of toneri’s skull is just sownright terrifying let’s be honest)

Karui is fierce and loyal, and she doesn’t stand down from a fight

Temari is protective, determined, ruthless, doesn’t take shit from anyone and is willing to face down anyone even a shinobi that outclasses her like Madara

Tsunade is a top rate medical ninja and a princess in her own right (first hokage’s granddaughter. Litterally called the ‘slug princess’ by chiyo which is supposed to be an insult but let’s be honest it’s bad ass)

Tenten is determined and although she finds her sensei embarrassing she learns a lot from him and finds her own path after wanting to be just like her hero tsunade for years

Ino is incredible. She does so many jobs, is kind and open but doesn’t take shit from either of her teammates. She’s the first to reach out a hand to Sakura for friendship and even years after Sakura has tried to sever that friendship she continues to care for her and is still protective of her

What is your opinion on Naruto fans that attack other IPs for supposedly "copying" from them?

Case in point - I play Onmyoji by Netease, a turn-based RPG where certain aspects of Japanese folklore and mythology. They were quiet about it until the three Japanese gods (Susanoo, Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu) came into the game.

Susanoo in the game is a single target shikigami that uses lighting since Susanoo in myth is the god of storms. It just so happens that NE's Susanoo created a giant avatar of himself made from pure lightning in his summon animation so these Naruto "fans" started accusing NE of copying Naruto when if you know how Naruto's Susanoo works and looks like, the humanoid figure is chakra based and much like other MSharingan abilities, it is taxing to the body and its different. Again, NE's Susanoo's giant avatar is just himself while Naruto's Susanoo looks like a Tengu from Japanese myth. The only similarity between the two is that both are giants and that's it. Both look different, their composition is different.

They didn't even stop when Amaterasu dropped in the game. She arrived two weeks ago and during a skills video released by the game, one Naruto fan commented that she was boring due to not having the Sharingan. I can't help myself but comment that the Sharingan abilities are based on Japanese myth and the three ones used when MS is activated are named after the three Japanese gods, one of which is the goddess he/she called boring.

Don't get me started when they attack other IPs when those IPs adapted their own take of the Sannins, which were originally from a Japanese folktale that Kishi himself looked into for the Sannins. Even Jiraiya's "Toad Hermit" and Tsunade's "Slug Princess" nicknames came from the folktale, not from Kishi's.

They also attack One Piece when Admiral Ryokugyu of One Piece debuted his forest based devil fruit "copied" Mokuton techinques from Naruto. The irony on this is that Kishi and Oda are friendly rivals.

Taking inspiration from another work is a common occurence but accusing one work of outright copying without proof is also equally stupid.

Yeah it’s really stupid. Everything Japanese is based on Japanese things and lore and people who think Naruto/Kishimoto owns ancient Japanese mythology and culture are dumb
