The Metropolitan A Retro Diner for Oasis Springs

a fun little diner inspired by the 50s/60s and Cosmolux design that i wanted to make for Strangerville, but it ended up sticking out way too much so i moved it to Oasis springs. It didn't end up as big or neon as i originally wanted, and im not super happy with the parking lot/landscaping so i might make another one eventually

My favorite color is actually red but there was so much red in the Aries picture that I went with my second favorite color, gold. I still wanted to incorporate a little bit of red, though.

This Sim was giving me so much trouble. I don't know why, but absolutely nothing was going right for me.

The first time I was in CAS making her, my power went out for absolutely no reason and I lost everything. Then I had to try 5 different backgrounds including 360 mirrors before I just low key gave up because I hated everything. The lighting was actual ass to get right and I *jabs finger at screen* still didn't get it right but at least I got rid of the color banding that plagued the first batch of shots. Then I tried multiple outfits and none of them fit the concept I wanted before finally settling on some random TSR dress. Wanna know why you don't see the lower half of this dress?

That's why.

Then I realized I accidentally plagiarized a Rainbow High doll. Tbh, I'm not even mad because that doll is gorgeous and if she didn't cost $50, she'd be sitting on my shelf right now right next to Vanessa Tempo.

I'm complaining just to complain at this point. I'm really enjoying these CAS challenges. And oh boy, this one was definitely a challenge!

My answers, edited for interest, and to reflect my solo play habits :-)

FOR THE PLAYER

Race: What's your favorite race to play? Is there a race you default to or play more often?

Human, because I am a Basic Bitch.

Class: What's your favorite class to play? What's your favorite character build you've ever played?

Warlock. Great Old One Tome Pact Warlock to be specific. Hashtag Cthulhu.

Playtest: What class (or subclass) do you want to try out?

Maybe play an Elf from B/X edition.

Level One: What was your first experience with D&D? How did you hear about it? What was your first game like?

My first ever introduction to D&D came through a box of Ral Partha minis my buddy had. We didn’t know what Advanced Dungeons & Dragons was, but the minis looked cool. And they were made of lead!

My first experience actually playing was after I’d moved to a new town, and made a new friend, and went to his birthday party. His older brother ran a game for us. I made an Elf (this was Basic D&D, where Elf was both your class and race.) At the end, the older brother told us that I would be the DM from now on, much to my surprise.

Skill: Do you prefer RP, combat, or something else? Is there a part of the game you consider yourself best at?

I like a good mix, I guess. I mostly play solo now, though, so I’m both player and GM. Thank goodness for Mythic and RPGSolo dot com.

Crit Fail: Have you ever had a character death? What happened?

It was the mid-late 80s, and TSR had released Battlesystem, and my wargame-loving best friend was all over that. My minotaur character faced a horde of kobolds alone so the rest of the party could escape the dungeon. My minotaur was eaten by kobolds!

Dungeon Court: What's the worst D&D experience you've ever had?

Played Pathfinder with a group a few years ago. Nice people, but they’d regularly get into just shooting the shit, and not even about anything interesting. For real, they went on for a good half hour, 45 minutes talking about the domestication of sheep. I left that group.

FOR THE DM

Leveling: What's your ideal starting party level? What leveling system do you use? 

I like starting at level one and going up from there. I usually fizzle out around 5th or 6th level, though. I used to use Milestone leveling exclusively, but since I’ve gone back to pencil and paper, I’ve found I like XP better.

TPK: Have you ever had a game go completely off the rails? TPK? How did you adjust?

As a solo player beholden to random die rolls and Mythic’s Fate Chart, things have gotten squirrelly a number of times, but it usually resulted in my character dying gloriously.

Homebrew: Do you have any house rules or homebrews you use? What are they?

I like a max damage plus an extra die roll for crits. Since it’s a solo game, I might use 4th Edition’s rests (5 minute short rest, 8 hour long rest.)

Golden Days Lookbook Challenge

So we decided to start this new challenge, and I challenge you to go pick up your favorite sim who grew old, or make a new one for the occasion, put on your best rings, and get ready to party with your fellow grandmas and grandpas!

Do 3 outfits, or 2 or 1, whatever you please, put in a #goldendays LB hashtag, and make sure to tag Meg and me both, so we can look at all of your elders enjoying their golden years!

For this challenge I chose Nanette Nichols, Mia’s mother. Now, as a few of you might remember, Nanette had to raise Mia as a single mother, and she always struggled financially. However her fortunes changed at the end of last year when she and Mia became money smugglers for fabled businessman Raj Patel, and for the first time in her life Nanette has money to spend! Quite a lot of money! And naturally one of the first things she splurged on was a brand new wardrobe. Two of her more recent purchases are pictured below.

The lovely smoky blue lace number above is by Ekinege at TSR, and the shoes are by Daluved1 for Ace Creators. The striking print silk dress below is by @orange-sim​ and can be downloaded as part of a bundle here. Nanette’s slingbacks are again by Daluved1 and can be downloaded from MTS here.

My Updated Simself: Lizzie Green

Hi everyone. Meet Elizabeth ‘Lizzie’ Green 2.0. It’s been awhile since I updated her Sim and I wanted to share my latest Simselfie for your game. She does have moderate CC. I’ve included the links and credits below the cut. No AdFly or pay walls. I promise.

Now for the CC: 

Read carefully if you want Lizzie to look like she does here.  At the bottom, I link everything in one convenient list (but I also link//credit throughout the post). 

Nine times out of ten I’m wearing my hair in a messy bun and Lizzie is too. Her main hairstyle is Lorena by Anto (TSR). 

Also I’m never without my dark eyeliner (and I think Sims are strange without eyelashes. Her eyelashes/liner is made by Bobur3 #13 (TSR). 

I don’t usually wear lipstick but the base game nude lip colors are awful. So I added RemusSirion’s Sensor Lipstick (TSR) and picked a shade close to my actual color. 

Her beautiful skin detail is MsBlue’s Freckled Female Skin (TSR). If nothing else, download the skin. I haven’t found another that comes close. 

Lizzie wears a few items from the Pufferhead Stuff Pack, an amazing fantasy fan-made stuff pack by MLys (SFS download). The whole pack is well worth the download.

The necklace pictured above is actually by Renora - Pearls for Our Girls (Dropbox or SFS). 

Lizzie’s toe polish (because I typically paint my toenails) is found on Sims4Nexus and is Set #01. Unfortunately, the download link leads to AdFly so I added the link to my Google Drive and shared it. Sorry. I couldn’t find another workaround. Let me know if you have issues. 

It was high past time to update Lizzie’s formal wear. I tend to wear belts and I’ve got a thin gold belt just like Lizzie in the above image. :) 

Her hairstyle is Anto’s Karen (TSR). The necklace is the second option in RenoraSims Pearls for Our Girls (link above). Lipstick is Dioxide by RemusSirion (TSR). 

Yes, even when working out, I might sport some bling. Haha. Hairstyle is Jade by Anto (TSR).

For sleepwear, Lizzie has 2 cooler-weather outfits (1 with slippers, 1 without), 1 lingerie set from Around the Sims 4 (optional -- I just like to include it), 1 bathrobe, and 1 warmer weather outfit. Hairstyle is Aluna by Anto (TSR).

Party outfits include options for seasons (in this order): Summer, Autumn (pictured above), Spring, Winter/Christmas (ugly sweater), and a Spooky Day costume. Lipstick used is Dioxide by RemusSirion (link above). By the way, if you want to change up the outfits, that’s fine, but leave the boots. I’m rarely without my boots. :) For her summer outfit, Lizzie wears Plain Jane Wedges by RenoraSims (Dropbox or SFS).

Chill out by the pool. Lizzie has the Rocio hairstyle by Anto (TSR). I have one outfit with sunglasses, flip flops, and cover skirt for hanging out by the pool, 1 with the swim suit and sunglasses but without flip flops if the sun is bright where you’re swimming, and 1 with just the swimsuit (because you don’t need sunglasses indoors). Haha. 

She comes with two hot weather outfits.

 For cold weather, her outfits are in this order: Rainy weather, typical winter snow, light hoodie and jeans (spring), jean jacket for summer nights, and a dressier cold weather outfit (skirt and scarf). 

Forgotten Moodlet earrings and Woolen Scarf are paired with the last outfit found in the Pufferhead Stuff Pack by MLys (listed above). 

One final thing: Lizzie has 1 custom trait in this version - NatashaEllenX’s Sagittarius trait (graciously shared via Mediafire by Luna).
