It's so maddening
I just don't believe that Disney wants to please its fans anymore, I honestly don't.
I can't see why they'd not want to take up an interesting and compelling storyline (that links links nicely to the first story, so no struggles trying to connect anything there cough cough F2) that would be A; a breath of fresh air from the stuff they've been making (cheap remakes and flops) and would please a significant portion of people who watched the original. We are some of the loyalist Frozen fans, we have our own stable section of the fandom, and there isn't a good reason why not to take the leap as far as Disney is concerned. They don't even have to dive straight into Helsa but if they just allow Hans to be seen in a sympathetic/understanding/redeemable light, that would be something.
I really think that Disney's response to Hans and the treatment they've given him post Frozen (giant snowball, Elsa crumbling his ice statue, the charades game) is very of this age. There are Disney villains of the past (Maleficent and Cruella got sob stories and 'rebranding', which I at least think was an odd stance to take on a spiteful witch and a literal puppy-murderer. Then that villain doll in TS4 got redeemed only minutes after trying to leave Woody voiceless and stuck in the antique shop, because we were super invested in that doll's eventual undeserved happy ending amirite) who have been treated with less derision and contempt than Hans, and I think it's in part because those villains were regarded as long enough ago that you can do what you want with them now (their evilness is regarded as "lessened"), and also that I think Disney is kinder to its female villains (that they must have some background trauma as to why they act the way they do, they can't just be evil) and finally that while Frozen is obviously magical and fantastical in most of its elements, it seems to try and attempt a 'realistic' approach to the interactions of the characters. I don't like this, it's inconsistent and an example of lazy writing - "Hans is bad just because he's bad", the writers don't even attempt to add any extra layers or facets to his character.
I feel like Hans is treated with a special vindictiveness and I think that is unfair and I don't understand why it seems okay to do this.
I desperately hope that someday (Frozen 3) our hopes will be realised by Disney and we can see Helsa (or even hints at Helsa, I'd settle for that) become canon, but honestly I am extremely doubtful. I suspect I know how F3 will play out and I'm already apprehensive.

ACORN ANTIQUES - by amoebae
I made this antique shop/thrift store before Christmas at the request of @storybooksimblr. Now I’m releasing it into the wild.
DOWNLOAD [simfileshare—includes tray files and my cc]
Spreadsheet including links to all the cc I used (including my own, even though that’s in the download)
An album of images of the interior and exterior
The lot has been play-tested except for the small living space upstairs, but I doubt you’ll use that much and there’s not much in it to play-test anyway.
This lot contains A LOT of items. I didn’t notice any lag on my PC, even while running ReShade and with a full room of customers, but please take that into consideration if you experience lag on busy lots usually.
TOU: share and share alike
With thanks to @storybooksimblr for initially requesting this fun project, and to all the creators whose cc I used.

Man, the villain from Toy Story 4 really bothered me. She felt very much like an incel parallel: I deserve a child! If only I wasn't defective then I'd be getting the child that I should have. And I'm willing to hurt people to get my way... It felt very wrong that she got Woody's voice box and a child in the end. I would've much preferred her realizing that she doesn't NEED a working voice box and could've found a child without you know, crippling woody (practically against his will) to do so.
Oh ho ho I have opinions on Toy Story 4...
Most of it is kind of meandering, just filling time to get to the next plot point, None of the other toys besides Woody and Bo-Peep are well utilize; if anything they all seem wasted. They ruined Buzz’s characterization completely. And while I think the ending is a good bookend, it feels unearned considering what came before it.All in all, TS4 feels like there wasn’t much energy and affection put into it like the other films. It seems like they just wanted to end it and took the way that required the most minimal amount of effort.
As for Gabby-Gabbby, I don't think comparing her to an incel is accurate. Gabby-Gabby definitely feels entitled, but those traits are shared across humanity, not just incels (though they exemplify those qualities loudly). Plus, she’s a villain she’s supposed to be awful.
In Gabby-Gabby’s case, the reason she was able to get a child in the was not simply because she got the voice box. It was that she 1) got out of the antique shop which represents the fact that she’s stuck in time and won’t move forward, and 2) she was shown selflessness and compassion by Woody, hence shy she decided to help the little lost girl.
While I agree in the sense of her getting Woody’s voice box to an extent, I see the overall point of it was how far Woody was willing to give of himself to help the other toys. But I felt the emphasis on the voice box, in Woody’s case seemed strange since it’s never been a large part of his self-worth so I thought it was weird that they would focus on it o so much.

This is the perfect opportunity for me to put forth a theory that Woody was mint in box before he was given to Andy.
He doesn’t mention any past that doesn’t involve Andy and is in amazing condition for a toy his age.
In Toy Story 2, our Buzz encounters sealed Buzzes in Al’s toy store. A display Buzz thinking our Buzz left his box mentions all space rangers must remain in stasis while in their ship (box). In the short “That Time Forgot,” we see newly opened dinosaur toys thinking they’re real. If these toys think they’re stories and worlds are real, there must be something keeping them in their box. So I think toys are “hard coded,” to be inactive until opened and played with. The toys might be hard coded to “play dead” when humans are around also which would explain why TS1 Buzz and these dinosaur toys dropped still when kids were present despite believing they are real.
But what about Prospector Pete? He was (thought to be) still mint in box. At what point did he become sentient and able to remove himself from his own box? Well in Kingdom Hearts 3, when the cast and Sora go to a toy store, Sora points out these large (unsealed) robot toys being display and asks why they aren’t moving and talking like them (as Sora was also a toy at this time). Woody’s response was “I guess he hasn’t figured it out yet.” So sealed toys and display toys seemingly don’t have sentience till they are opened and/or they “figure it out.” The Prospector said he spent decades on a dime store shelf being ignored. After years and years he probably “figured it out,” and became sentient after waiting in “stasis,” for so long.
TS4 brought us Gabby Gabby who is implied to be just as old as Woody. They have the same voice box build and Gabby even wonders if they were made in the same factory. Meaning Gabbys and Woodys potentially were being made in the same years. Gabby says how she was defective right out of the box and never played with. So she was opened by someone in the 50s, gained sentience, was seen as broken, and never paid attention to again. Being ignored for years and probably passed through owners until finally ending up at the antique shop as possibly a rare (but imperfect) doll collectible and it traumatized her to the point of making her the “bad guy.”
Unlike Gabby and the Prospector Woody doesn’t have a recoliction of a time before Andy at least not one he mentions at any point in time. His time before Andy doesn’t matter and it’s possible he sealed in his original packaging, possibly being owned by one of Andy’s parents until being given to him when he was a baby (as Woody mentions in TS4 he doesn’t remember it being this hard when Andy was Bonnie’s age) and up until that point for potentially three decades Woody “hadn’t figured it out yet,” and remained unsentient in his box.
This would help explain Woody’s good condition and the last of a past before Andy despite being a Toy from the 50s.
What he says: im fine
What he means: in Toy Story 2 Woody is treated as the rarest of the toys from Woody’s Roundup when he’s the main character of the show. That would mean he would have had a higher production number than any of his costars, and in fact probably would have been made for the longest and earliest of the toy line. Stinky Pete, by being the fan unfavorite, must have had a smaller run, and less of his toys would have survived in the 50s as kids would have needlessly damaged or destroyed him making him the rarest of the group and Woody the most common. If anything, the plot of Toy Story 2 should have revolved around Al stealing Woody’s hat as it would have been the item most sought after by collectors as it’s easily lost and not attached to an otherwise common doll. Fundamentally, Al’s apartment should have been littered with Woody dolls in various states of damage, all missing hats and maybe a handful of decent condition Woody dolls needing a hat while Stinky Pete is the rarest and most expensive as a collectors item.
