It's so maddening
I just don't believe that Disney wants to please its fans anymore, I honestly don't.
I can't see why they'd not want to take up an interesting and compelling storyline (that links links nicely to the first story, so no struggles trying to connect anything there cough cough F2) that would be A; a breath of fresh air from the stuff they've been making (cheap remakes and flops) and would please a significant portion of people who watched the original. We are some of the loyalist Frozen fans, we have our own stable section of the fandom, and there isn't a good reason why not to take the leap as far as Disney is concerned. They don't even have to dive straight into Helsa but if they just allow Hans to be seen in a sympathetic/understanding/redeemable light, that would be something.
I really think that Disney's response to Hans and the treatment they've given him post Frozen (giant snowball, Elsa crumbling his ice statue, the charades game) is very of this age. There are Disney villains of the past (Maleficent and Cruella got sob stories and 'rebranding', which I at least think was an odd stance to take on a spiteful witch and a literal puppy-murderer. Then that villain doll in TS4 got redeemed only minutes after trying to leave Woody voiceless and stuck in the antique shop, because we were super invested in that doll's eventual undeserved happy ending amirite) who have been treated with less derision and contempt than Hans, and I think it's in part because those villains were regarded as long enough ago that you can do what you want with them now (their evilness is regarded as "lessened"), and also that I think Disney is kinder to its female villains (that they must have some background trauma as to why they act the way they do, they can't just be evil) and finally that while Frozen is obviously magical and fantastical in most of its elements, it seems to try and attempt a 'realistic' approach to the interactions of the characters. I don't like this, it's inconsistent and an example of lazy writing - "Hans is bad just because he's bad", the writers don't even attempt to add any extra layers or facets to his character.
I feel like Hans is treated with a special vindictiveness and I think that is unfair and I don't understand why it seems okay to do this.
I desperately hope that someday (Frozen 3) our hopes will be realised by Disney and we can see Helsa (or even hints at Helsa, I'd settle for that) become canon, but honestly I am extremely doubtful. I suspect I know how F3 will play out and I'm already apprehensive.

hey! i noticed that your helsa/hans fandom tweet rant got reposted on twitter by that same group of people, and now they’re trying to defend their behavior. sorry that’s happening to you. your post is still 100% a valid criticism of the fandom. as someone who’s been following our tiny community for years it sucks to see all this irritating ‘advocacy’ suddenly popping up that’s now making our image look toxic and immature. it makes me wanna distance myself from hans and helsa, and I’m damn sure i’m not the only one. but thanks for speaking out about it. i’m glad im not the only one finding #that side of the fandom embarrassing
Yea, I saw the tweets.
They lack any kind of self-awareness. The point pretty much went over their heads. It's kind of sad tbh. All of this over a fictional film franchise and character.
There are a lot of creative, fun, and chill people in the Hans/Helsa fandom. Its sad that its losing fans and momentum because of this brigade and their #redeemHans tunnnel vision.
We need to start a new twitter hashtag to drown them out. #NotMyHelsa #ReclaimHelsa #GoodGirlsFreezeTheirBoyfriends

I’m not going to say much, if anything, regarding the Frozen 2 situation. I plan on watching it next month or so, but I AM dreading it. Having said that, I needed to show my support towards Elsa and Hans. I love both of these characters dearly and the helsa community deserves better.
Hang in there everyone.

So in your ideal version of Frozen, who would ultimately be the one to free Elsa from her own torment? Anna or Hans? Also in Enchanted, neither Prince Charming and Idina's character are main characters, whereas Elsa is a main character but not Hans. I don't think the Enchanted solution could work in Frozen without either downplaying Elsa or elevating Hans at the expense of Anna's role in helping Elsa. I like Helsa, but I just think it should be secondary to the relationship between the sisters.
I would use both, Hans and Anna, to help Elsa. Although I believe even Elsa should put from her part to help herself. This should be a group effort, as I believe mental illnesses are better dealt with with people around willing and able to help. Hans and Anna should have been this for Elsa from the very beginning imo. Anna was there for Elsa when they were kids, but they lost each other. That's where Hans comes in and not only he would be a friend, confidant, and support for Elsa throughout the "film", he would be a friend to Anna as well. Anna needs someone to talk to (apparently) and Hans is no stranger to her situation either. Anna and Elsa should be the main characters in this first movie and they are the ones that have to face their issues here. Hans has his own set of problems too but I believe his story should be dealt with in more depth in a sequel.
Now having said all of that, if I'm being fully honest here, I think Hans has more chances of being of help to Elsa because (like I've said several times through the years) Hans is more in tune with Elsa's situation and mindset. And he understands and communicates with Elsa far better than Anna, which should not be taken lightly!
I don't think you understood what I meant when I said I would have Frozen use the "Enchanted situation". I didn't mean I would have Frozen be the exact same story as Enchanted. That would be silly as the messages in both movies are different.
I did say I would give Elsa and Hans more screen time. And that would probably mean I would cut or change some of the Anna and Kristoff segments. I'm not thinking ALL of this through right now so I couldn't give an answer to that just now. Though I would like to make Anna a better character and a better sister as I try to hold onto the idea that she should go back to being an important or relevant character in my eyes.
My intention is to elevate Elsa and Hans for sure because they not only deserve it but also because they are my favorite characters and were treated poorly by the end of the movie. And keep also in mind that I used to care for all the characters equally, more or less, back in 2013. But we're in 2020 now, and if you've followed my blog all this time (which I don't think you have/do) that's not my case anymore.

Rave/EDM Hans and Elsa. ;)
I don’t draw very often, because as you can see I am not very good at it. I mostly do it for stress relief when I want to take a break from writing my book. None the less, I figured the Hans and Helsa community really needs a picker up right now, to help recover from that slap in the face we just got....even if this is bad art at the finest.

Best Laid Plans (5/?)
Fandom: Frozen (modern AU, no magic) Pairings: Helsa, established Kristanna, lotsa frohana Rating: T for now, M later almost for sure A/N: Take it and go.
[ Part one ] [ Part two ] [ Part Three ] [ Part Four ]
Her alarm goes off after three hours of sleep and she can hardly move enough to turn it off. Sun peeks in around the edges of her curtains. She needs to get up and go about her day and force herself back into a regular rhythm. Normally she is quite good at it but this time it seems impossible.
It isn't that she is unused to this routine. After a thirty hour event she often takes a long nap to reset her mind and push her through to the next night and a normal bedtime. While never easy she is typically able to roll out of bed in her studio apartment and get started on whatever task is at the top of her list, but today….
She swings her feet over the edge and sits up, head swimming, and she can feel every inch of her body. She knows if she stretches her spine will snap, muscles releasing, but she can hardly find the energy. She tilts her head side to side, neck cracking, and there is laundry to do. There is laundry to do and errands to run. There is laundry to do and errands to run and things to return and clean and this is her only day off this week and she has so much to catch up on and -
She can feel it.
When she is more awake, more lucid, she can convince herself that she is making things up. She tells herself that whatever symptoms she thinks she is having is just stress, exhaustion, dehydration…. But here in that funny place between being asleep and awake she knows.
This is not just something she is imagining.
She bends over her bedside trashcan and vomits.
When she is done she wipes her eyes and mouth with a tissue. She takes a deep, shuddering breath.
She has today.
She will take it.
Sleep is for the dead, and she isn't there yet.
She stands up and starts her day by cleaning her mess.
….
Dinner that night is at Anna and Kristoff's modest home. The team gathers around takeout and discusses the event, what went well, what didn't, where improvements can be made, and how they can grow. It is informal, less structured than Elsa likes, but she knows that the community of her team is just as important as the efficiency especially considering this is supposed to be their day off. Also none of them brought up Hans Westergaard for which she would be eternally grateful.
They are past the business point of the evening now. Elsa is in the kitchen putting dishes in the washer as Anna and Kristoff split the leftovers into plastic containers for everyone to take home. Rapunzel and Eugene always take home whatever anyone else doesn't want because Rapunzel will eat anything. The rest goes in the Bjorgman’s fridge to share later. Anna always saves aside a portion of something sweet for her sister, but she doesn’t need much.
She isn’t ever that hungry. Even less so recently.
By the time it is all said and done it is just the three of them: Anna, Kristoff, and Elsa.
She remembers when Kristoff had first come on the scene, how she had been unimpressed but quickly won over by his devotion to her sister. Now she can hardly picture Anna without Kristoff by her side and for that she is thankful. Anna thrives when she has someone steady beside her. Kristoff is definitely steady.
They stand around the kitchen island cleaning up the last of the mess and Kristoff grabs a leash and harness off a hook on a nearby wall.
“You ladies seem to have this under control. Sven needs his walk.” He clasps the contraption onto a mutt big enough to be a horse. “We’ll be back soon.”
He is off before there can be any discussion and Elsa gets that tingling feeling down her spine that this was not a spontaneous idea on Kristoff's part, no matter how much he loves the gigantic Sven. She pauses wiping the counter to see Anna all too diligently avoiding her gaze.
This has happened enough that Elsa knows it is best to just get to the point. It is almost always the same point anyway, but this time she does not feel as prepared.
“All right. What is it?” She pops a hip and lands her hand upon it.
“What is what?” Anna straightens a towel on the oven handle for the thirtieth time.
“Whatever it is you aren't saying. That’s what.” Elsa steels herself, ready to deflect any foolish accusation Anna might throw her way - especially if it had to do with one particular groomsman.
Anna bites her lip, still not meeting her sister's eyes, and Elsa knows now what is coming. She wishes she hadn’t asked, but now:
“It's happening. Isn't it?”
Anna’s voice is small, as if she can hide the question while asking, but it hits Elsa like a freight train. She remembers the look on Anna's face after they had changed yesterday, remembers the look in her eyes as she had tested the waters of this conversation. How long has she suspected…?
Elsa doesn't want to lie but she is also not ready to admit the truth. Anna has bared her fair share of Elsa’s troubles. Elsa does not want to burden her with more than she needs to carry now.
“Anna. If there was something to know - you will be the first to know it.”
Anna looks at her then, blue eyes sharp and clear. “What are your symptoms?”
She thinks of the headaches, the vomit this morning, and tells a bald-faced lie: “I’m not having any.”
Anna's eyes narrow. “Are you sure?”
“It is my body. I am pretty sure I would know. This isn't exactly my first go at this.”
“Yeah, but… this time is different."
Elsa sighs. Her sister sound so bleak and she supposed she understands. The situation is grim at best, but it is all she has known. It is all she will ever know. She supposes it is all Anna will ever know of her sister as well. That thought stings. She will do her best to protect Anna as long as she can.
"What was it that mom said? Today has enough trouble. Don’t take tomorrow’s.”
Anna doesn’t smile, not distracted by Elsa’s attempt.
"But you will tell me, right? You will tell me when it is today?”
Elsa is good at lying. She has to be, but Anna is the hardest one to fool. She puts on her best poker face and meets her sister's eyes.
"I will tell you."
Anna smiles.
Elsa has to decide if it if fake or not and suddenly the tables are turned.
They don’t mention it again when Anna drives her home.
….
She sleeps through her alarm.
In all of her adult life that has only ever happened once and it was from a power failure and the alarm itself didn’t go off.
She pops up ten minutes after she is already supposed to be at work to her phone buzzing with text messages from Anna, Rapunzel, Kristoff, Eugene….
And they probably all think she is dead. She can’t blame them, but she also doesn’t have a single second to waste in replying to their messages.
She also hardly has time to register that today, as opposed to yesterday, she feels fine. She has no nausea, no headache - nothing.
Her symptoms could have just been fatigue and stress from the wedding. There is no way to know for sure, but she really doesn’t have time to think about it.
The days that actually count against her are so far and few between at this point that she just moves forward. Elsa does not like dramatics and she will not indulge in them.
The weather, however, has a different idea.
The world outside her window is a deluge. Everything outside of her window is gray and bleak, but that happens. She has a plan for it. Her umbrella sits in its proper place by her door in its own small stand. She will be fine.
There is no time for breakfast which is fine because she usually skips it anyway. She grabs a granola bar just in case and will get her coffee at the office.
She does her hair and makeup in a flurry (a low braided bun with just enough mascara and blush to pop her features) because there are no meetings today (which is good because if she was late to a meeting with a client - she shudders). All she has to do today is show up and answer questions (hopefully through email) but she would deal with it either way. She opts for a shapeless navy blue dress that hits just below her knee to combat dealing with a wet hem all day and secures her locket in place around her neck.
The beauty of her job and living space is that it is only three blocks from each other.
She always walks.
No matter the weather.
But right now, when she is running late, she sure wishes it was only one block. Or maybe she could convert her office to her bedroom. She is there enough.
She puts on her trusty rain boots as thunder crashes outside.
It will be a soggy walk but she has done it before. She will do it again and again and again for as long as she is able.
When she isn’t so rushed she feels lucky to be able to walk to work since she cannot drive. Whenever she needs to meet a client she catches a cab or (depending on the client) orders a car service. More often than not Anna picks her up and takes her where they need to go. It keeps things simple. She likes the predictability of it all, the reliability. It makes everything else that much more manageable.
She grabs her purse and stuffs a pair of sensible flats in to change into once she reaches the office. Then with her lunchbox and umbrella in tow she dashes out into the hallway. When she gets outside she pops up her black umbrella and starts down the sidewalk at as brisk a pace as her boots will allow.
It is gusty. She hadn’t realized, but about half way in to her walk a strong swoop of wind catches her umbrella and pulls. Elsa does her best to fight it while juggling her purse and lunch and trying to down a granola bar and respond to the distressed texts and calls to let them know she is on her way but it is a losing battle.
The umbrella flips inside out just as the rain picks up from torrential to basically a waterfall. It takes all of five seconds before she is soaked to the bone. Unfortunately it takes about ten seconds to fix her traitorous umbrella so by the time she gets herself sorted it is rather a moot point.
If she wasn't already nearly half an hour late she would turn back around and change, but she will just have to make due at this point. From the outpouring of texts from her family and colleagues she does not have time to do anything but show up.
So with rain dripping down her nose, pooling in her boots, and making her shift dress cling to her skin she finally makes it to the steps of E&A Events. It is a modest brick building that shares a foyer with several other local businesses. In the heart of the city it is a sleek mix of chrome and brick that has been arranged in a way that is both modern and welcoming. She bee lines to the frosted glass door with their logo etched into it and slogs inside soaked and humiliated.
She is met by a frantic, yet enthusiastic, Rapunzel.
“Elsa! Hi! Let me take your umbrella.” The springy brunette grabs the handle right from Elsa’s hand. Elsa blinks - stunned. Even for Rapunzel this greeting is over the top.
She bends to pull off her water-logged boots as Rapunzel shakes her traitorous umbrella onto the hardwood entry hall floor.
“Pascal’s gonna be living in this hall mopping up messes if this rain doesn’t stop.” Rapunzel laughed. “It’s a miracle Mister Westergaard didn’t slip and crack his head open the second he came in. You didn’t update the calendar so I didn’t know he was coming and -”
Elsa nearly loses her balance as she pulls off her second boot, the last shred of her dignity saved only by the thought that there are thirteen possible opportunities for who it could be other than the one she dreads the most.
“Mister Westergaard?” Her stomach flips back and forth, but she manages to keep her tone even. “He was here?”
Rapunzel rolled her eyes. “Not was. Is here. What? Did you forget about your appointment?”
Elsa stares at Rapunzel for a long moment, mind not computing what she is being told. Surely Rapunzel is not telling her that Hans Westergaard is there, in their office, at that very moment except the look on Rapunzel’s face says that is exactly what is being said. Elsa almost runs back out in the rain, but instead she rolls back her shoulders and places her boots neatly by the door. No one needs to know how fast her mind is racing beneath her professional exterior.
“I must have gotten my days mixed up.” She buys herself a bit of time as she presses a soaked tendril behind one ear. “Has he been waiting long?”
Rapunzel looks at her watch. “Twenty two minutes.”
Elsa groans inwardly. “Who is with him?”
“Well it was me and Eugene - but then Anna and Kristoff got here and they took over. Hans is really insistent about talking to you specifically.”
And although Elsa has never breathed a word about anything that happened that night to anyone - not even Anna - she knows that everyone knows at least the bare bones of the situation. Her cheeks heat.
If she had ever suspected he actually would show up at her office she never would have -
“I need to talk to Anna.”
“But she’s with -”
“Yes. I know.” Elsa cuts in. “Could you please go in and tell her she has an urgent call that she needs to take in private?”
A wash of understanding floods Rapunzel’s face. She nods, razored bob slashing across her cheeks at the motion.
“Yes. Yeah. Okay. Got it.” She puts Elsa’s traitorous umbrella in the stand and gives her a thumbs up. “I got this.”
Elsa forces a smile, too distracted to even consider mustering a real one, and watches as Rapunzel goes to the wide frosted double doors that lead to the client meeting room. She tucks herself into the shadowed corner as Rapunzel goes in and waits there until she and Anna return a moment later.
“There you are! I’ve been texting you!” Anna says as she reaches out to hug Elsa but stops when she touches her shoulders. “And you’re soaked. What happened?”
“It’s been a long morning.”
“It’s only 9:30.”
“Still.” She does not need to say more. Elsa knows Anna understands in the way she does not press the matter.
Instead she skips forward. “Hans Westergaard is here.”
“So Rapunzel said.” She keeps her voice even “What does he want?”
“Well…” Anna spreads her hands in front of herself. “I don’t really know? An event of some kind to be sure, but he is not exactly forthcoming. He says he wants to talk to you about it first.”
Elsa’s mind goes a thousand directions.
“But - I don't have a vision board.” She can hardly think over the pounding of her heart. “I - I haven’t had time to put together an intake package and what about the Clemmons wedding? I don’t know how we could possibly take on another project when - he has to go. There is just no way - ”
Anna catches Elsa’s emphatic hands in her and cuts her off with a worried stare.
“Okay. Slow down. Elsa - what exactly is going on here?”
Elsa feels her defenses rising in the midst of her unprofessional behavior. “I just think we should think twice before even considering taking this on. It could be beyond our capability, our scope. And if we can’t meet and exceed expectations then think of the liabilities.”
Anna’s face scrunches. “I think what you meant to say there is that this is the break we have been working for! It could mean the biggest leap of clientele in the history of our lives with one event. Elsa - this is the Westergaards. We may as well plan something for the governor - or the president - but they don’t have nearly as much money.”
Elsa knows Anna is right but she cannot stop the riot rhythm of her heart at the idea of spending any kind of extended period of time working with Hans Westergaard. She thinks of all the meetings, the phone calls, the shopping trips and vendor consults that they would complete side-by-side as she did with all her clients. She thinks of the intimacy that accompanies her role guiding people through the planning process and seeing their tastes and preferences under a magnifying glass. She cannot do that with him. She will not. It will break her.
“Anna.” Her head throbs. She struggles for a way to put what she feels into words without saying too much. “This just isn’t going to work.”
Anna releases Elsa’s hands to grip her shoulders, fabric squelching under her fingers, face softening as she picks up on her sister’s distress. “You’ve gotta help me understand this one sis. Did something happen at the wedding that you aren’t telling me?”
Elsa is in a corner and she knows it. If there is even a chance of getting Anna in that corner with her she is going to have to come clean. She looks down and presses clenched fists to her eyes.
“He asked me out.”
Anna is quiet for a long moment and Elsa is not sure if she heard her, but she will be damned if she repeats herself.
Then, tentatively: “You have been asked out before…?”
Anna phrases it as a question even though she knows the answer. Elsa has been asked out, but it had been a non-issue. She had never had difficulty turning away the attention of men who were often all too happy to move on to the next thing that caught their eye when they realized she was not worth the effort. Never, however, had she been so relentlessly pursued by someone she finds so frustrating and attractive in equal measure. Never has it come at such an inopportune time.
“Not like this.” Elsa replies.
“Oh - oh - !” This time Anna is all too quick to respond and Elsa rips her hands from her eyes and glares at her sister.
“No. Don’t.” She will not have her weakness spoken aloud.
“But Elsa -”
“Stop.”
“Did you say ‘yes’?”
“Anna.”
“Oh crap - you did. Didn’t you? Or you didn’t but you wanted to?”
“What I don’t want to do is talk about it.”
“Elsa.”
“Anna.”
“Elsa. This is Hans Westergaard. Do I need to remind you again what that means?” Anna’s eyebrow quirks.
“I know what it means.”
Anna purses her lips. “Look. I’m going to be you for a second, because I think you need it and I don’t want to seem mean but you’re talking crazy.”
Anna pauses for a second to gather her thoughts, takes a deep breath, and then launches her attack.
“We need this, Elsa. Everyone at E&A Events needs this to happen so you are going to have to suck it up and put on your big girl pants because we need this. Not you, we. This company is more than you and we need you to not screw this one up, okay? We need you to be calm and collected and professional and to do this event no matter how much it twists your personal panties, okay?”
Elsa blinks, mascara smearing into her eyes and stinging but that burn is nothing compared to Anna’s words. She is normally the rational one, her business sense always winning out, and a taste of her own medicine is bitter. Anna is right. If Elsa truly wants to set up E&A Events for long lasting success then she has to approach this the same as she would any other client.
Elsa takes a shaky breath.
Anna rubs the clammy skin on Elsa’s arms, as close to a hug as they can get with Elsa soaked the way she is.
“Remember when we started this business you said you wanted to live a normal life as long as you were able?”
It is an odd question, one Elsa had not anticipated, and she frowns. There had been so many discussions over the years. Each one had hinged on the fact that Elsa was not like the rest of them. Each one had tried to navigate the careful balance of the inevitable and the ignoring of it. The application of these conversations and plans however had never made her heart pound in her chest like she had just sprinted a mile.
Elsa shakes her head.
“You’re right,” she holds her hands up in surrender. “You know you’re right. Of course you’re right. Mister Westergaard is just like any other client.”
Anna casts her sister a knowing look. “That is not what I meant and you know it.”
Except Elsa didn’t. She blinks, wide eyed and confused.
“Elsa. If you want to date the guy, just date him. Dating doesn’t have to mean getting attached. It can just be fun. That is what normal people do. Normal people have fun.” She plants her hands on her hips. “Plus he is loaded so you know he can probably take you on some pretty amazing dates.”
Elsa’s defences fly up. “Not going to happen.”
“But you know it would be okay if it did.” Anna goes soft in almost perfect opposition to Elsa’s rigidity. “All I’m saying is we all only get one shot at this life thing. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow or Kristoff could get struck by lightning. I get that you are trying to protect yourself and whoever else might come along but don’t you think that maybe you’re just hurting yourself more by not even trying?”
The words hit Elsa like a fist to the chest.
She is absolutely dizzy with them.
Of all the ways she thought this Monday would go.
She bears down.
“We’re doing this.”
She pushes past a surprised Anna and heads to the doors to where Hans Westergaard is waiting. If he is going to lay down a challenge she will be damned if she shrinks down from it.
She will meet him just as she is, streaming mascara, skin soaked dress hot mess, and she will not back down.
She cannot.
She pushes past her sister towards those ominous frosted doors knowing that she looks a mess and accepting every bit of it. There may have been objections, but with the way Anna put it she knows that this is something she must face.
This isn’t about dating or a relationship.
This isn’t about love.
Hans Westergaard has the nerve to come to into her territory then it can only be one outcome for this.
This is war.

I Won’t Back Down (Kristanna Week 2018)
(Author’s Note: So I know that this is for Kristanna Week 2018, but I wanted to change things up a bit. This is set in my Kristanna Divorce AU. A Helsa non-romantic oneshot. This is solely based on personal experience.)
You can find my Divorce AU tags right here
C’mon just do it. Elsa thought as she was staring at her phone. You can do this.
Those were the thoughts that she would usually have whenever she wanted to see her two nephews. Normally she wouldn’t mind visiting them at the local trampoline place, but lately she’s been wanting to visit with them somewhere else. She knew that Hans, Anna’s ex-husband, would give her the run-around, but she didn’t care. All she cared about was seeing her two nephews, alive and well.
At least they’re always happy to see us. she thought while she was trying to figure what to type out. Happy and healthy.
She remembered the last time her and her family had seen the two boys. Their great-aunt was visiting from Colorado and wanted to visit her grand-nephews. In fact, both Anna and Elsa’s cousins were visiting along with their mother. They wanted to see the two boys; therefore, Elsa was given the task of getting together with the boys. Hopefully he would be very understanding. she had thought that night while she was getting in contact with him.
However, he wasn’t very understanding at all. Instead he had decided to give her the run-around, by coming up with such ridiculous excuses. At first he told her that he would only meet at their usual place, but she told him that the boys’ great-aunt would prefer to do something. So then he proceeded to ignore her wishes, coming up with excuses, such as talking about his mother’s birthday. “I just want you to see them.” she had spoken to one of her cousins over the phone. “It’s been years since the last time you all saw them.”
“I know cousin.” they had answered, not knowing what else to do. “Maybe we should be the ones talking to him. I mean we do want to see the boys.”
“Well that does sound like a good idea.” Elsa sighs in defeat as she relived all of the constant emails and text messages just to get a hold of him. “You have his number right?”
“Yeah.” her cousin had answered, just before they had hung up the phone. “See you soon, Elsa.”
“Same to you.” Elsa replies back.
By the next day, Elsa had received a text message from her cousin, telling her exactly what they had sent to Hans. She was happy to see that her cousins were able to resolve the situation in their favor. Maybe Hans would be very understanding. she thought just as her eldest daughter, Eloise, had appeared.
“Mom,” she began when she read that message, “you do realize that Hans could find out about this, right?”
“Well,” Elsa had countered back, “he needs to know that the boys should see their mother’s side of the family.”
“True,” Eloise noted, “but he could still consider it as some form of stalking. Just like how he claims Aunt Anna to be one.”
“I know,” Elsa had agreed, “and I’m done with him calling her that.”
“And I’m done dealing with this.” Eloise had stated just before she had turned in for the night.
“So am I.” Elsa shook her head in disgust.
About a week later, their family visit had happened as if everything was alright. Hell they even got a large family photo taken outside the local restaurant.
And yet he still gives us the usual run-around. Elsa had thought while she was stepping back into reality. It’s just not fair.
She was right. It isn’t fair for Hans’ ego to take over everything in her nephews’ lives. It was never fair for Hans to take the boys away from Anna and Kristoff. He shouldn’t have done that, yet he had convinced the courts that he was the perfect parent for Samuel and Timmy. He shouldn’t have told Anna that she was an unfit mother, yet she was doing everything in her power to prove that she was a good mother. But that didn’t really matter to Hans. All that had mattered to Hans was that he had gotten his way and there was nothing that anyone could do about it. Well Kristoff is sure right about one thing. she thought as she began to text on her phone. One day those boys are going to find out about the truth and make their decisions from there.
She knew that Anna and Kristoff would be very supportive on what the boys would be deciding on. Just as long as they were making the right decisions on their own.
Two weeks later
After two weeks of “communicating” back and forth with Hans, they both agreed upon meeting at a public restaurant for an early dinner. At least we’ll be able to see the boys. she thought while she was talking to her children about seeing their cousins on the way there.
“Mom,” Eloise continued, “don’t you think that he’ll assume the usual if you hand over that note?”
“Probably,” Elsa states flatly while she was trying to find a parking spot, “but that doesn’t matter.”
“They need to see their cousins.” Eloise adds with a serious look. “It’s not fair that Hans gets to do this to us.”
“I know.” Elsa sighs at her response just as she parked the family van. “Alrighty, let’s get inside and order something to eat.”
“But what if I’m not really hungry?” her other daughter, Tammy, had asked.
“Then you can get something to drink.” Elsa answers while they were heading on into the restaurant.
“Okay.” Tammy shrugs her shoulders just as they had entered the place.
“Hey guys!” a familiar voice had called out as they walked right into that direction.
“Hey Samuel!’ Eloise smiles at her cousin as they hugged each other.
“Hi Aunt Elsa.” her younger nephew had spoke causing Elsa to be really happy.
“Hey man how are you?” Elsa smirks down at her nephew, Timmy.
“I’m good.” Timmy had answered as they all had sat down at the table together.
“Hello Elsa,” Hans had stated flatly just before Elsa and her children went on up to the front to order their food, “how are you?”
“I’m fine.” she answered while she was heading on over to the front counter.
“Hmm...” Eloise whispers to her mother just before they were ordering their food. “Sounds like he’s not happy to be here.”
“Well he’s sucking it up that’s for sure.” Elsa jokes as they were waiting in line. “Alright now, let’s get something to eat.”
“Okay.” Eloise nods in understanding while Robert and Tammy were ordering their usual drinks with the cashier at the register.
As they continued on ordering their food, Elsa couldn’t help but notice the smiles on her two nephews’ faces. She knew that both Samuel and Timmy were very happy to see their cousins, yet she didn’t really expect to see their smiling faces. She figured that Hans would prefer to not be there, however he had to make sure that Anna wasn’t “stalking” the two boys.
Yeah like she so would. Elsa had thought with sarcasm, while her children were ordering their food.
“You know Mom,” Eloise began just before she had ordered, “I sure am happy to see the boys. I miss seeing them without Hans being here.”
“Same here.” Elsa nods in agreement, just as Eloise was finishing up with her order.
It sure has been way too long seeing them without Hans. she thought while she was ordering her food. And yet when we do visit, he prefers to be at these kinds of places.
She was right. This type of fast-food restaurant was a bit too expensive in her opinion. From the different types of whole wheat veggie wraps to the protein bowls that would make her feel a bit queasy. She didn’t mind the idea of eating out at a place like this. Well Hans is such a picky eater and a heavy influence on the boys. she thought just as she was about to order.
Hi ma’am,” the cashier began with a smile while Elsa was looking over the menu, “what can I get for you today?”
“Umm...” Elsa ponders a bit. “How much do I owe you right now?”
“$20.84″ the cashier had answered, causing Elsa to feel a bit anxious on the inside.
“Yeah, I’ll just get a small drink and that’s it.” Elsa answers quickly.
“Okay, cash or card?”
“Debit card,” Elsa adds while she was paying for the total, “and I’m sure that my kids are more than willing to share their food with me.”
“Alrighty then.” the cashier states as she hands over the receipt. “Here’s your receipt and your meal should be ready within the next few minutes.”
“Okay.” Elsa had nodded while she was standing right next to her children at the counter. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” the cashier smiles.
“Wow that’s a lot.” Tammy had commented while her and Robert were texting away on their phones.
“I know.” Elsa nods in agreement.
“No wonder why Hans would prefer to eat here.” Eloise had casually whispered to her mother. “It’s so expensive, and yet so controlling in his favor.”
“Yeah well,” Elsa whispers back just as their order was called out, “I’m not letting him control where I’m sitting today.”
“Uhuh.” her daughter nods in agreement, just as they had received their order. “Always got to be the bigger person then, huh?”
“Yep.”
Don’t worry Mom I’ll sit right across from him if need be.” she replies back as the family had walked on back to where they were sitting with their cousins.
“Thank you.” Elsa nods in understanding.
“You’re welcome.” Eloise smiles while she was settling herself down at the table.
“So how are you doing?” Elsa had asked the two boys, completely ignoring Hans’ disgusting looks.
“Good.” Samuel answers while he was eating his own food.
“So are you driving now?” Eloise asks.
“Yeah.” Samuel answers coolly. “Dad bought me a care for my seventeenth birthday.”
“Oh.” Elsa bit back a few harsh words towards Hans.
“Well to be more clear on that,” Hans began with a prideful grin at Elsa, “I told him that if he get’s straight A’s all throughout his sophomore year, then I’ll buy him a car.”
“Oh,” Elsa states indirectly at her two nephews, “that does sound cool. Samuel. How about you, Timmy? Are you driving yet?”
“Yes,” Timmy smiles proudly at his aunt, “Dad and Mama Hannah are giving me driving lessons in their cars.”
“Cool.” Elsa smiles while cringing on the inside over hearing the other woman’s name.
“Yeah.” Hans nods in agreement. “So Elsa, what do you think about the current raise for us teachers?”
“What raise?” Elsa counters back, knowing exactly what he was talking about. “It’s not much of a raise really.”
“Figures that you would say that.” Hans smirks, making Elsa shrug him off. “To me it’s not much at all. I mean us teachers need more support from the administration.”
“True,” Elsa counters back while the children were chatting away about everything, “but what they really need to do is to stop hiring more administration and firing teachers due to ‘budget cuts’.”
“I agree.” Hans nods in agreement, surprising Elsa.
“Hey Dad,” Timmy had interrupted their conversation, “do you remember when we went to Florida for Disney World?”
“Yeah buddy,” Hans smirks at his son as he ate some chips and dip at the table, “what about it?”
“It was so much fun.” Timmy continues with such glee. “Remember the roller coasters and the rides?”
“Of course,” Hans had casually mentioned, making Elsa’s blood boil a bit, “how could I not forget?”
“When did you guys go to Disney World?” Tammy had asked just as the other sister, Savannah, had arrived.
“June.” Samuel had answered for his brother.
“That’s cool.” Tammy answers with curiosity while Savannah was making her rounds with the cousins.
“Yeah we went to Cedar Point recently,” Eloise adds, “while we were visiting Ohio in June, too.”
“Cool.” Hans mentions coolly with a sly grin.
“Yeah,” Elsa continues for her daughter, “ I was able to snag a deal for a group of eight, including a meal plan.”
“I see.” Hans states flatly.
As they continued on having a conversation at the table, Elsa was too busy being lost in her thoughts. She knew that Hans’ ego would show through at anytime; therefore, she had decided to keep her watch on that. She figured that Hans had pretty much brainwashed Samuel, no thanks to Samuel talking about his father right in front of her. Brainwashing at it’s finest. she thought while she was eating a small portion of brown rice and broccoli, from Robert’s bowl of food.
She hated that word. She didn’t want that word to be in her own vocabulary, yet it was. She couldn’t stand the idea of her own two nephews’ being brainwashed into thinking that their mother’s side of the family is bad, just like Anna. However, she knew that everyone on that side of the family would do anything for the boys. Hell, she was the one that would help care for them while Anna was away for work. And yet he’s the one that would want to control and ruin their lives. Elsa had thought as she continued on enjoying the conversation.
She remembered the first time Anna had told her about Hans’ control over the boys. At first, she didn’t believe her younger sister, but then she saw the changes unfold right before her eyes. She hated the way that the boys would treat her unfairly, to the point where she told her sister to not have them behave like that. But she couldn’t punish them. Elsa had thought. And that still makes me very angry. When the boys were younger, she hated the way that they treating other people in their lives. From calling some of their cousins names to actually misbehaving and even degrading their older relatives. And if they were my kids, I would’ve punished them severely. she thought while she was sipping on some Coke. Now if there was something that I can do about this.
And there is something that she can do about this current situation. She could appeal to the courts, telling a judge that Hans is abusing the system and hasn’t allowed certain family members to visit the boys. She could confront him and tell him that what he is doing to both Samuel and Timmy is wrong; that it isn’t right for him to take them away from Anna and even Kristoff. She could also say that her own children would want to see their cousins on their own terms. Like going to the park, movies, etc. she thought They just want to hang out with their cousins. However Hans would do anything that money can buy. He could tell the courts that Elsa and Anna could be co-conspirators, working out a plan to kidnap “his” sons. He could say that Elsa would be an unfit aunt for visitation and the he would have to be there during the visits. Either way I’m not going to let him ruin our visits with the boys. Elsa had thought while she was over hearing the conversation unfolding right in front of her.
She smiled at all of the fond memories that they were talking about. From Timmy cracking a joke or two to Samuel showing off his car to his cousins. She figured that Hans had some major influence on Samuel picking out his car, no thanks to it being an old Porsche. Well he sure does have some taste. she thought while she was laughing away at a story from Samuel’s school. Apparently someone had thought that it was a good idea to light up a banner in the school hallway, causing nothing but property damage and chaos. “It was so crazy,” Samuel continues as he was finishing up his protein bowl, “like they had to put out the fire and cancel school for the rest of the day.”
“So did they catch the kid?” Elsa cocks an eyebrow at her nephew.
“I think so.” he shrugs his shoulders, just like his own father.
“Oh.”
“Well I remember the time where Savannah and her friends did their own senior prank.” Robert had casually mentioned.
“Oh really?” Elsa quirks an eyebrow at Savannah.
“Yeah,” Savannah answers, “me and my friends had decided to park their cars inside the school gym.”
“Oh please don’t tell me how you’ve managed to do it.” Elsa looked stunned at her daughter’s crazy antics.
“Well it was fun.” Savannah had managed to crack a smile.
“Figures,” Hans had stated ever so dryly, “but I’m sure that my boys won’t be participating in that kind of behavior.”
Right. Elsa thought as she rolled her eyes away from Hans.
She knew that Hans was trying to control the conversation, no thanks to him giving the boys looks throughout the conversation. She could tell that Samuel was following his father’s orders by the way he was bobbing his reddish hair. On the other hand his younger brother was completely ignoring their father’s body language. Timmy is so like his mother. she thought as they were finishing up their conversations. She could see that Timmy is almost identical to Anna, while Samuel is the exact spitting image of their father. And they are growing up so fast. she thought was she was finishing up her small portion of the meal. Maybe Anna would be able to see them once they become of age.
But that may never happen to at least one of them. For all she knows is that Hans had already brainwashed Samuel into thinking that his mother is the bad parent and Hans is the good one. On the other hand, Timmy would still have a chance to be saved from Hans’ brainwashing. She knew that Timmy would probably be more involved with the family while Samuel would much rather look to his father for guidance, instead of his family.
Maybe they’ll know more once they get older. Elsa had thought just before Hans had decided to say that it was time to go.
“Well I hate to tell you this,” Hans had stated to his own relief, “but Samuel has his golfing lessons in an hour.”
“Oh right.” Samuel had smiled excitedly while his younger brother was looking a bit disappointed. “I’ve got an event next week.”
“Cool.” Eloise nods as they were hugging each other goodbye.
“Well it was nice to see you two.” Elsa hugs her two nephews tightly.
“It was cool to see you too, Aunt Elsa.” Timmy had stated in disappointment, making Elsa feel a bit frustrated and guilty.
“But before you go,” Elsa began as she placed her note right on the table, “I am inviting you to come and visit us in Ohio next summer.”
A snatch up of the note from Hans didn’t even faze Elsa.
“Many family members have been asking about you two,” she continued much to Hans’ demise, “and they miss you. I have a place up there and I’m sure that you would love to see it.”
“Cool.” Timmy’s eyes lit up at the thought of seeing their cousins next summer.
Hans’ cold glare again didn’t really faze Elsa. “We’ll have to see. I’ve already got a lot planned for the next summer.”
Oh please. Elsa had thought as they all had bid farewell to the boys. Seriously.
She knew that Hans was going to act that way; therefore, she had decided to continue on inviting the boys to visit them next summer. The boys should be able to see their family without Hans. she thought as her and her children had walked on out of the restaurant.
“Well that was nice.” Eloise had casually mentioned to her mother.
“It sure was.” Elsa nods in agreement.
“Do you think that Hans would allow them to see us next summer?” Eloise had asked just before they had gotten into the car.
“By the way that Hans had snatched the note,” Elsa began with such frustration in her heart, “I highly doubt it.”
“Seriously?” Robert cocks an eyebrow.
“Yes,” Elsa continues, “and I don’t think it’s fair to you guys and them.”
“What a dick.” Eloise scoffs, earning herself a look from her mother.
“This is complete bullshit.” Savannah sighs in defeat just before she had gotten into her own car. “Anyways, I’ve gotta go.”
“See ya.” Elsa calls out to her daughter.
“It’s just not right.” Tammy adds as she continued on texting her friends.
“Yeah well I’m not going to back down on Hans.” Elsa states firmly to her children.
“You mean that you’ll continue on inviting them?” Eloise had cocked an eyebrow.
“Yes.” Elsa answers. “They need to see our side of the family.”
“Yep,” Eloise nods in agreement, “we have the right to see them without Hans.”
“But do you think that Hans would claim that you’re being a stalker for Aunt Anna?” Robert adds with a questioning look.
“At this point,” Elsa gave her children a serious look, “I won’t stop inviting them to visit us in Ohio. I don’t really care about Hans’ crazy antics, because you all have the right to see them without his presence.”
“Well,” Eloise sighs in defeat, “I sure do hope that Hans would try to understand.”
“So do I, sweetie.” her mother nods in understanding. “So do I.”
(End Note: Writing this was hard for me, because it was pretty much based on personal experience. I can tell you that one of my cousins is already brainwashed and may never want to keep in contact with his mother’s side of the family. That in itself is a hard pill to swallow and to try to forget about when i see them.)

Ugh!
"Oh my god, why i keep seeing Helsa fanarts in Prince Hans tag, can't i just enjoy Hans as Hans only!?"
Well, i'm sorry for being active providing contents in my own community that includes your favourite character. Maybe if you HELP making contents about your fave character too instead of just being a silent in the back enjoying all of the stuff, a certain ships fanart will not be such a problem to you. At least being appreciative to the artists, not being salty about it.
We making stuff here, we are having fun, and you feel the need to complain about it because we are more active? The audacity.
So tired of this people that always managed to complain over small thing and act like only your fandom owning the character(s).

FROZEN 2 THOUGHTS ABOUT KRISTOFF, ANNA, AND KRISTANNA RELATIONSHIP.
I can't believe i'll said this.
I never cared about Anna and Kristoff, let alone Kristanna before. (Because i'm all about Hans and Helsa only and you know it).
But after watching Frozen 2, i feel like Disney really REALLY did dirty about this couple. Especially to Kristoff. About their relationship.
This going to be a ramble, forgive for my grammar or such since i'm a non native english speaking.
I'm fed up with Disney or this people said Kristoff is like a good example of soft-masculinity stuff just because a simple line as "I'm here, what do you need?" Sure, i appreciate, we should appreciate him for asking Anna first before doing something to help her, but guys.... are you blind or what for not care enough of what Kristoff did throughout the movie?
All i can see him since the opening of the song was "I'm in love with this girl and i can't help to nuts with her!" All this angry elementals and no-future with Arendelle and all he was thinking was "How to propose to Anna"? And no, don't give me the speculation ot rumor of "Oh they probably did more than kissing especially after the leather comment" because that's not going to be the point in this topic here.
We are talking about Kristoff. He was kind, honest, so relatable and still logical in Frozen 1 movie, he made comments and thoughts we have for scenes in Frozen 1 like "i'm going to tell him" (about Olaf loving summer), he made comment to Anna who was agree on marrying Hans the first time they met, and actually a lot, and i'm sure you get it. We also get a glimpse of him being in a conflicted moment like when his sled was broken and he was considering to keep accompanied Anna to the North Mountain, like a normal human being and that's makes him a relatable character.
In Frozen 2, he is still this kind and honest guy, but suddenly they just make him in this lovey-dovey boy character which his purpose for the entire movie was for marrying Anna, they were like kicked out the relatable and logical characteristic in him, who even in the right mind to still thinking on how to propose your girlfriend after you finding out a new clan in the middle of a forest covered in a mist?, he lost his character and Disney tried to cover that by giving this "Soft-Masculinity" stuff to the media. Acted like they cared about him while it's so obvious that they make him like that in thr movie because they were confused on what should they do with the other characters besides Anna and Elsa in the movie. (Another evidence is by how they portrayed Honeymaren, Ryder, Yelena, and L. Mattghias, but that's another things).
If that's not obvious enough, they just let you know Kristoff ended up wondering around in the forest alone with Sven and suddenly being in the right place and in the right moment when Anna was almost stepped out by the giants.
His song didn't help either. I was cringing so hard on that scene. The song and him in the clip was like out of the place. Like it doesn't fit there. The movie looked so mature but there are scenes, i'm not going to call it childish because it looked more absurd and unfitting, inserted into the movie that make the pace feels weird. And Kristoff sang scene was one of them. None of the kids care enough for that scene after all.
He just simply let the fact Anna left him alone, with this new people they just discovered. What if the Northuldran actually not a good community? What if Matthias actually just set them up? What if they are not actually what they seemed? Anna didn't seems to think about that, think about Kristoff safety, how confused he would be when he realized that they just left him alone in the unknown forest with new people. She just LEFT HIM.
I get it that Elsa is her priority. I get it that maybe she believed in Kristoff more since he lived in the forest since he was a child. I get it that she was covered in fright of losing her sister. But leaving behind somebody that you already considered family, a friend, a boyfriend, without any message, without trying to at least looking for them, is wrong. And that's actually could lead to several problems in their relationship.
I'm surprised that Kristoff didn't show any anger, any despair, or any expressions to show his dissapontment any further and ended up showing how positive he accepted it. What? The woman you are willing to married just simply leave you like that for her sister, how many times you got this treatments that you ended up just simply accepted it? :|
I feel like it's always Kristoff that easily relent everything to Anna. I never see Anna do the same. If Kristoff keep doing this things in their relationship, he could probably end up being enough and be like "Okay! This is enough, i'm done! Now you listen to me!" I'm sorry, but this make me viewed their relationship as unhealty. Too much positivity from one side. In this case is from Kristoff. It's not good. It's not healty.
And i think they need to fix all of that first before the engangement thing to happen, especially on how serious Anna view their relationship.
ESPECIALLY, NOW ANNA IS THE QUEEN. I can see them as normal couple being together in simple life only. Don't get me wrong, i'm happy that Anna got the recognition she supposed to have, but i feel bad that she ended up being queen. You know a Queen is supposed to behave, need to think strategically, mostly spends her time in the office with piles of works, spends more time in the castle for meetings, talking to dignitaries and all, well anything i feel like ended up making Anna trapped her social and free-spirited characteristic.
And i'm afraid this also would effect their relationship because Kristoff is the "nature" guy type. Honest with me! Can you see him, Kristoff, being called Prince-Consort, King-Consort, or even King of Arendelle??? Because i'm not. In their 3 years together, Kristoff still uncomfortable using suits, and that speaks a lot. He probably under pressure to use this all the time. I really can't picture him or Anna as the leader in Arendelle.
But yeah it's canon, soooo we must accept it after all. I'm sorry if my opinion about Kristoff, Anna and their relationship sounds like a diss for them, but yeah it is. Sorry if you feel triggered by it, but this all just my disagreement about what Frozen 2 did to them and how disrty they did him in here. We need Kristoff appreciation after all. He is an interesting character too, my other boi after Hans in Frozen universe, i just hate Disney literally pushed his character out on the cliff. 🙃
If you guys have your own opinion, i would like to read it too.

Maybe this counts as a request, I love your new drawing. The message in your art is always sweet and loving. Drawing happy/cute Helsa. And I like Elsa with her hair down and all, but I would like to see Helsa is some Arandelle-ish attires (btw, I love the Green coat you drew for Hans before). Elsa may not need to be Queen, but she deserves to return to her homeland...or do you agree she shold stay in the EF instead of Arendelle? Request turned to ask in the end, sorry ^^u LOVE your art! Chao
Tumblr media
Thank you for the message of support and appreciation.
I'm feeling like breaking down this nice message. So if I may:
Some melancholic, sad, even brutal ideas have popped up in my head when thinking about things to draw. But I rather work on the happy stuff for these two. They went through so much in life and the fans of this ship, the ship itself, and Hans get so much unnecessary and undeserving cr*p that I definitely want to put a stop to all that (even if for a little while) with my happy Helsa fan art. That’s one of my goals and reasons to draw what I draw.
When you say you want Helsa in some Arandelle-ish attires I have some questions. I can draw something like that for Hans. I still have to draw my concept or reference sheets for Hans’ outfits in Frozen 2 and two or three of those are Arendelle style (if you want to count sleepwear. Also glad you love the green coat. That would be Hans’ travel outfit and yes; it’s one of the Arendelle style outfits) But what do you want for Elsa? I always have trouble with her hair down and ice dresses. I don’t know if it looks like I pull it off well or not in my pictures but it’s not the easiest for me to draw her magic clothes lol If I were to draw Elsa for this request, do you want me to draw Elsa with her hair in a braid, a ponytail, down? And what kind of clothes do you want me to draw for her? Normal clothes or ice? What am I getting myself into? I have zero knowledge in fashion XD I can’t believe I’m actually willing to take a request! Long ago I said I wouldn’t take those anymore lol But I guess this is because your request sounds very reasonable to me.
I do think Elsa doesn’t belong in the EF. I don’t care the excuses some make about the tribe being Elsa’s mother’s people or whatever. They are still strangers. I have relatives from Spain and that doesn’t mean I’d be ok with moving over there with a bunch of people I don’t know and to a place I’m not familiar with. I have a life and family where I am. And so does Elsa in Arendelle.
And if that’s the excuse some want to use, guess what? Anna should go live there as well then. It’s her mother too. And much like I’ve said before, if they wanted to have the sisters separated (which sucks for this franchise) and have one live in the forest, Anna made the most sense since she’s the one that wanted to meet strangers, get out, has a committed partner that also has lived outdoors, and is a reindeer fanatic much like the Northuldra XD Anna and Kristoff would fit right in instead of Elsa lol And don’t get me wrong, Anna can make a good Queen? Maybe. But I don’t see being married to Queen Anna as the best life for Kristoff. I feel like in order to stay with her Kristoff would put himself through anything, even royal life. Which it doesn't sound like a bad thing per se. But Anna is not the only one that matters in the relationship, or does she? I guess Anna and Elsa’s mother did the same when she married their father. But it looks like she had no other options and I don’t care about those two anyway. However, is that really a good thing for Kristoff? He can’t spend more than an hour in formal clothes and I presume things will be demanded from him now that he is the Queen’s fiance and has literally nothing to offer to a kingdom. Disney really didn't think this sequel and all their nonsense through...
I think is clear no one in this movie is doing things they want to do but things they have to or were told or taught by someone else to do. Anna becomes Queen because Elsa said so and in consequence Kristoff is bound to a life style that might not agree with his characteristics. There’s no evidence that this is what neither Anna nor Kristoff want, they just roll with it because the movie says so. This is your life now so deal with it. Elsa was born to be Queen and her father thrust her with nothing but bad advice and is one of the catalysts for Elsa’s disorders. We don’t know if she ever had problems with being Queen. Her problems came from not controlling her powers because of the fear of hurting others. Nothing of which has to do with her not being happy in Aredelle or not being comfortable with her role as Queen. That’s the life she knew all her life. Some may want a different life after some time if they’re not happy with it, but if that were the case for every royal in the world, then there wouldn’t be Queen of England or Kings and Queens of Spain, and other countries that still live under monarchies. The people who made Frozen have zero respect for the role of a monarch. If Elsa wants to take some time off (which she deserves) she can count with advisors and even her sister. Anna as Princess should hold some responsibility as well and help her sister. But the title of Queen isn’t something that sisters should be throwing onto each other as if playing a game of hot potato. The reign over a country or community is something serious, is important, and those behind these movies are taking it as a joke or nothing but a babysitter job. And on top of all this Elsa now has to deal with being a “fifth spirit” (whatever that entails) because her DEAD mother basically says so...
If Elsa wants to visit the Northuldra to get acquaintance with her mother’s birth culture, that’s cool. Also is fine to some extend if she wants to spend some time over there to atone for the crimes committed by her grandfather. But Anna should go through that stuff as well. It’s her freaking family and legacy too, damn it. And this is something I believe the entire fandom is taking for granted or ignoring altogether. But leaving her life in Arendelle to go live in the forest? Yeah, that’s not the answer to anything.
Now going back to my fan art. I only depict Helsa in the "wild and free" life style because that’s what Frozen 2 gave me to work with. And this is also my way to cope with this forsaken sequel. But I have alternate universes of my own invention to allow myself the exploration of several different outcomes. Some include:
Creating Good Childhood Memories AU. Hans met Elsa and Anna as kids. In this one Elsa and Anna’s parents aren’t a$$holes and everyone in the royal family of Arendelle welcomes Hans with open arms. The boy lives an awful life in the Southern Isles but deals with it a little better because now he is friends with the Arendelle Princesses; he goes to visit and spend time with them often. In their early teens Elsa and Hans develop a crush on each other (Anna roots for them but won’t help doing some occasional teasing embarrassing the awkward pair) that evolves into their late teen years with Hans asking the Arendelle King and Queen for their blessing to court Elsa.
Aunt Elsa and Uncle Hans AU. In this one Frozen 2 doesn’t happen. Elsa keeps being Queen (and is happy that way), Hans is her consort and they live happily balancing the duty of governing over Arendelle and spoiling Anna and Kristoff’s kids (courtesy of frozenmusings) The kids spoil them as much in return since they love them as a second set of parents as well.
Into the Unknown AU. One I haven’t put much thought into and is my excuse for playing more with a fantasy theme. I came up with it a couple of days ago. Elsa and Hans stay for some time with the Northuldra little by little getting comfortable with an outdoors life style and they get deeply in touch with nature; Elsa’s specialize in the elemental spirits while Hans thrives with animal life and living from the earth. In this AU they leave the tribe to establish their “home base” in Ahtohallan. They have evolved into something different and kind of leave the mundane life behind. Maybe they are true mythic figures.
God bless imagination!!
Back to your request. I am considering taking it. So please leave me a message with the answer to the questions I asked above^^ And thank you for such inspiring message. The proof is all the writing I did XD
