I know that the holidays are over, but I went ahead and made some more renders of some close ups/zoom ins from my Curious Christmas holiday card blender scene. I put too much time into the details and didn't want them to go to waste 😄

MY WEDDING TRAUMA: A SURELY-SIMS x ICE-CREAMFORBREAKFAST COLLABORATION, CONVERTED TO THE SIMS 2 [download - 👰🏽🤵🏽]

are you tired of brides in white dresses and toddlers with perfect pink flower baskets? is cereal packet gameplay just not doing it for you anymore? maybe you'd like your weddings to put the 'strange' in strangetown? search no more, the ingredients for the strangest wedding in sim nation are finally here!

so, since i caught that one virus, i've been playing around a bit more with ts2 cc creation and finally had the time to work on converting a big set again. but then... what to convert? the answer came to me in the links section of a random lookbook... in a sort of fever dream. a set that captures the recent theme on my blog, families, and yet completely destroys it at the same time: my wedding trauma.

everything here is remarkably versatile. i mean, i know for a fact that people aren't just going to use that jumpsuit for a wedding, elvis needs more freedom than that! there are 9 cas items and 6 buy items for a total of 17 items in this set!

the original ts4 collaboration is complete perfection; it has just the sort of trashy, nonsensical vibes that the ts2 wedding department is sorely lacking. my conversion of this isn't perfect, i'm still learning how to do clothing and there are some minor issues mentioned below the cut, but overall i think that it came out pretty good and i hope it invokes some chaos in your game. 💥

11. why have you decided to tell this story? are there any messages or meanings within it?

i initially created a bunch of little backstories for the premades for my shadyside bacc 1000 years ago, and then when i couldn’t take ts3 anymore and scrapped it i created some for some more premades to do a new one in ts4, but ts4 couldn’t support what i wanted to do with how their hoods are, so i scrapped that, but i still wanted to use the backstories, so i ended up creating a big canon for my ts2 stuff and making this story out of it :D originally i was just going to do a story about the cordials but instead reworked it some to make it part of a bigger story.

for messages/ meanings, not really! or at least i’m not trying to send any kind of big message with it. i’m just writing what i want to read/ themes i like or find interesting (etc. “resurrection gone wrong,” dark fairy lore, Weird Stuff Happening In Strangetown, etc). it’s just to entertain :D

12. do you actually play the game or do you just use it as a storytelling medium?

the only kind of gameplay that i’ve ever been able to stick with has been a BACC, which i haven’t done in like 519 years. i want to start one when i feel like i can fit it in, but for now, it’s only for storytelling and making stuff.

16. what about the process do you enjoy?

my favorite parts are editing the written draft/ planning out the screenshots i’m going to take, and then putting it all together at the end for the final edits (mostly just fixing a handful of mistakes that slipped through). also posting it (lol). but i honestly enjoy all of it even if it’s like pulling teeth to get me to sit down and Start writing/ taking pics sometimes.

death by flies. the thought of being picked apart into nothing is so deathmetal. i've always been partial to some body horror, i never kill my sims off though <3

alpha all the way! i like to incorporate some maxis-match, but i just can't really vibe with the plastic-y aesthetic of ts4.

absolutely not! i wish more of my sims were fat, actually. i love different bodyshapes (and it's the one thing that annoys me about ts2).

i'd say anything that makes the game look prettier; defaults, lighting mods, etc. i can play without any gameplay mods at all,,, just gimme the defaults!

sims 3 showtime! i got it before getting the base game because i didn't know you needed the base game. i remember watching quxxn and falling in love with it. still my fave expansion (yes i know it's shit)

7. Do you pronounce “live mode” like aLIVE or LIVing?

i simply don't <3. i mentally called it play mode and never realised this debate was even a thing lmao. but i'd say it like LIVing if i gave a fuck.

8. Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made?

tbh i've never felt connected to any sim i've made. i made a legacy save in ts3 that got lost to corruption and just struggled to form connections to my sims ever since (there's something to unpack there). premades are safe because i know the game won't swallow them whole i guess.

9. Have you made a simself?

nope! i just don't think it'd fit. my ex-gf used to make me in the sims 4 and pose us together! she's probably drowning me in pools now though.

10. What sim traits do you give yourself?

probably absent-minded, artistic, clumsy, good sense of humour, and grumpy. but i have zero perception of myself so idk

they're all a bit grim so i can't decide

sims 2! it would be sims 3 but it's so impossible to play with semi-decent specs. the game is too poorly optimised, but it holds a special place in my heart.

i'd say i care less about a sim being pretty. sims 3 sims were hideous, and i'd always edit them. but, with ts2, i kinda love how unhinged sims can look. so, even with strangetown, i wanted the sims to have unique features (circe's asymmetrical grin!). i love the genetics system.

it's just nervosims! but i don't play ts4 so it's never used. my old origin got banned because me and my friends shared the password.

i've had this simblr for a little over a year. but i've been in and out of simblr for around 3. i've been on tumblr for way longer (unfortunately). like, skeleton war, colour of the sky, superwholock tumblr.

24. How do you edit your pictures?

clip studio paint! i just add scanlines and a vignette. my reshade does the heavy lifting tbh. though, i'm trying to get pretty screenshots without it rn; my graphics driver is acting up and reshade isn't working for me.

25. What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?

in terms of existing packs? none. i like all the stuff i have now.

in terms of future packs? none. simmers are greedy as hell asking for more. enjoy the fucking game.

Okay, I've watched a video showing all the ways sims can die in TS2, and I think my favourite is the one that can happen while using the wishing well.

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match?

For my own game, maxis match. To each their own though, I like seeing everyone's games regardless of aesthetic.

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?

What??? No. Is that a thing? Wait - I have cheated a test sim's weight when I made clothes to make sure that the fit and fat states work? It was more effort than just creating test models in a permanent testhood with different body states so I only did it once or twice.

4. Do you use move objects?

Yes, it's a must.

5. Favorite mod?

Community time, probably. Honorable mentions to Romantic Standards and Shiftable Everything.

6. First expansion/game/stuff pack you got?

...I don't remember. My family got TS1 & TS2 pretty much as they came out.

aLIVE. Because "...and we're live!" I never really thought about the alternative.

When I first started using CC, I used semi-realistic stuff and played in a custom hood. Now, I have veered quite hard into maxis match and play a LEPacy rooted in Strangetown.

I like so many though! Which is ironic since I now play with very little cc.

Many years. I don't know how many, because I accidentally deleted my original tumblr and my memory isn't the best.

I used to use different actions and PSDs but now I just let reshade do the hard work. Then it's crop, resize, add a border.

I can't really think of anything I'd want officially adding to the game. For basically everything else, there's mods.

Tim playing with his baby girl's dollhouse is so charming. He tried also learning some skills for promotion.

He applied again for the private school but headmaster glitched again and stopped reacting.

He also has started slowly introducing Vivian to Sally, hoping Sally likes her and doesn't mind another mum in her life.

Really hard and unimaginable to explain but Sally brought home Gabriella Newson. In my game the Newson family lives in Strangetown that's far away and there's no way they could meet at school. Somehow the mod asking me if she can bring home someone from school doesn't work with kids? But also I'm planning to play them in a more complicated way when I get someday to Strangetown. And for the last thing to add I enjoy clay hair to some extend. Don't like the original TS4 textures I think. Couldn't go full clay in my game tho.

Sally and Vivian seem to be fine with each other.

The lone teen girl in all of the Strangetown testosterone fight club that is the teen population, I can’t begin to tell you how excited I was for this room! I’ve always had a soft spot for Ophelia. I love the setup she has - more so because TS4 premades in comparison are rather... lackluster. I did forget about the toddler toys in her room, which is either sad or creepy depending on the angle, but I really went out of my way to make this room feel like hers because she deserved it.

This is one of the few rooms where I allowed myself to go whole hog and change floors/wallpaper and even some of the “windows” because I couldn’t have a door pretending to be a window it was driving me batty.

From the perspective of 2022, I can see Ophelia as someone who would be prepared for any illness you can think of. She wouldn’t need a global pandemic to be cautious about hand sanitizer and mask wearing. To that end I gave her a nice stockpile of medications and a mask at hand for when she needs it.

As a nod to the tiny xylophone she originally had I made sure she had a keyboard, a hobby she probably picked up after her aunt insisted she be educated in music. She didn’t count on Ophelia getting so involved in the emo-scene, but at least she can play with the skill of a classically trained composer and that’s all Olive is concerned about.

I also gave her some blocks - another ode to the original items in the room, but also to show that despite everything Ophelia is very young at heart. Even if she has a fascination for carnivorous plants.

Given her home life, there’s no way Ophelia wouldn’t be prepared for the, well, ghostly visitors that are ever so active on this lot. (Good thing the TS4 paranormal pack gave me plenty to arm her with.)

Her interest in self-preservation inadvertently led her to want to find soothing hobbies, which is why she took up soap making and now runs a little etsy shop selling her creations online. She was collecting her creations for a while, because she does have a tiny tendency to collect things thanks to her anxiety (which is why she has an assortment of masks, and a doll collection, and... well. Everything else) but figured it would be impossible to use every bar she made and they could be useful out there in the world, fighting the good fight against germs.

I don’t have anything clever to say about the snake other than that’s the only pet I think Ophelia and Olive could agree on.

hey, feast your eyes on the infamous fridge-locker scene from the strangetown storytelling images... now 2023-ified! 😄

this is @syboubou's high school corridor set's buy mode, converted for ts2! i did not convert the 2, 3, and 4-tile lockers because the one-tile locker seemed sufficient enough. please read the 'things to note' section below the cut before bringing up any issues 😊

the speaker is cloned from the base game floor radio (the clone of the wall speaker wouldn't work, oh my god, i spent hours irl actually working on this damn speaker) so the music effects when it's turned on appear on the ground. you can get this mod by cyjon so the effects don't show at all

the wall clock isn't functional, only decorative :( i tried my best

nobody asked but i started counting how many sims in total are in strangetown across platforms simply because i wanted to know how many sims in total there would be if i did something insane like... have all strangetown sims ever in one save... or something... and the numbers are looking like this:

PC: 157 (10 living playables + 80 living townies + 67 dead)

PSP: 53

GBA/DS: 30

Console: 15 

TS4 Strangerville*: 10

so if all of these sims coexisted at once that’d be uhhh 265

and then TS3 has 6 ancestors of the curious family, 2 descendants of the beakers, and 2 descendants of the specters - which while not living in strangetown would naturally originate from strangetown - would, if included because of this, bring the total up to 275

(*strangerville is based on strangetown, and has the name strangetown was given in early development, it exists in an alternate timeline but it is still strangetown to me because of this)

Play The Sims 2 in The Sims 4!

I've been simming since 2000 beginning with The Sims 1. Of all the versions of the game, The Sims 2 version has always been my favorite mainly due to the character stories. Even when The Sims 3 came out, I still was tied to the characters and stories of version 2 and it never quite felt right. Then The Sims 4 came out and I was excited to see the Goths, but the story line was "wrong". My beloved characters were missing. I played for a few years and then went back to 2. I loved the stories of 2, but the game play and graphics of 4. What's a girl to do?

Create the Sims 2 character and stories in the Sims 4? Yeah, that actually works for me....and was a lot of work as well.

I didn't bring over the characters from every world in TS2. The reason being, I never really cared for any of the other characters from the neighborhoods like Belladonna Cove, Riverblossom Hills or Desiderata Valley. In fact, I can honestly say, I never even bothered playing Desiderata Valley. I had enough drama with the main three (Pleasantview, Strangetown and Veronaville....and Bluewater Village).

But wasn't it crazy that with every neighborhood, you got a separate and exactly the same Bluewater Village from scratch? So a different Malcom Landgraab everytime. The Malcom Landgraab from Strangetown didn't know the Pleasantview folks and vice versa. I always found that wacky, so I picked the ML from Pleasantview to play with and abandoned the other dopplegangers.

And why couldn't the Goths know the Smiths? Why couldn't the Pleasants have a barbecue with the Monty's? Why couldn't sims from one neighborhood have friendships/rivalries and romances with sims from another neighborhood? Well, now they can! Pleasantview, Strangetown (Strangerville), Veronaville and Bluewater Village are all open and connected in The Sims 4! I even threw in some goodies like the Newbies and Mashugas from The Sims 1 and that mean ole Mrs. Crumplebottom!

I tried my best to find original renditions of their homes from TS2. As you know, aspirations have changed a little bit, but I tried my darndest to stay true to their aspirations from TS2 with the help of other personality traits along the side. I have already played the neighborhoods to the point of where TS2 begins, with the proper relationships established, ghosts deceased (check out Olive Specter's lil' grim garden *shudder*) and everyone in their proper lots.

Original sims who came with TS4 are still around somewhere in the neighborhood bin. I evicted most of them to make room for my characters. Below are details for each neighborhood that I put together.

Huge shout-out to Midnite Tech for creating the package file that allows us to edit our World names.

The packs I have installed currently are: Get to Work, Get Together, City Living, Get Famous, Discover University, Strangerville, Dine Out, Movie Hangout Stuff, Vintage Glamour Stuff, Tiny Living Stuff and Holiday Celebration.

I wish I could say this is Base Game compatible, but unfortunately, you will need these packs in order to have the full experience. I will be purchasing the other packs as I choose in the future, but for right now, I'm good.

About Pleasantview (Willow Creek)

The Goths, Pleasants, Calientes, Dreamers and Brokes are here and are cued as best as possible to their TS2 initial situations. I also included Bob and Betty Newbie from TS1, whom we later found out were Brandi's parents. Their relationship is also reflected in this file. The notorious maid, Kaylynn Langerak is also residing in Pleasantview and is bound to cause some ruckus.

About Strangerville (Strangetown)

The Smiths, Grunts, Curiouses, Beakers and Specters are in full play with the appropriate ghosts haunting Olive's lot. Bella was definitely abducted by aliens (although we can't view all of their memories anymore) and dropped in Strangeville just the same as Strangetown's TS2. She has a story of her own. Thankfully, you can easily decide to reunite her with her family, or let her start a new life. Caution, the neighborhoods are connected, so she is bound to run into one of her relatives.

*For WHATEVER reason, the file would NOT let me change the name of Strangerville to Strangetown.  It may have something to do with the whole Strangerville story line.  But I have seen others edit this.  Ah well.*

About Veronaville (Windenburg)

The Capp, Monty and Summerdream families are here with the Monty/Capp feud still going strong. Romeo and Juliette are still in love. Awwwww. I almost never played this neighborhood, but it just wouldn't feel right if I didn't include them.

About Bluewater Village (Newcrest)

About Downtown (San Myshuno)

This is where you will find the notorious Mrs. Crumplebottom. She is content in her little house right smack dab where it is and you better stay off her lawn. I heard Malcom Landgraab III offered her a ton of money to move so he could build a new skyrise. She refused to sell and clobbered him with her purse. So he built around her. Malcom Landgraab IV is terrified of her due to the fact that he remembers the huge knot his father had to nurse all those years ago, so he continues his father's legacy of building around her. She ain't budging.

About Twikkii Springs (Oasis Springs)(Twikkii Island)

I named this Twikkii Springs instead of Twikkii Island because Oasis Springs isn't really an island, so it didn't make much sense. So I modified it to be Twikkii Springs. I used Zerbu's World Type Changes mod to make Oasis Springs a destination world. The Mashuga's currently run things here in their token pink octogon house. At least, in my head they do. You can play this however you want. You can get the mod here or don't use the mod and play it as is.

Honorable Mentions

Del Sol Valley

I left these named the same as we didn't really have a fame expansion for TS2. I was tempted to name it Studio Town like in TS1, but that just sounded too "Toon-Town"ish, so nah, pass. I like Del Sol Valley.

Magnolia Promenade

I totally tried to rename this to Uptown Bluewater, but the game said nope. So Magnolia Promenade it is. Maybe one day the powers that bEA will be nice and allow us to freely rename our worlds....or is that wishful thinking?

{HOW TO INSTALL}

1. Download my save file here. (SFS not working? Get it here instead.)

2. Then copy the file from your downloads folder into this path: my documents/electronic arts/the sims 4/saves | NOT your mods, tray folder or any other folder.

3. When you open the game, you should see the file The Sims 2 Reprise. :)

Simblr Community Challenge

How long have you been playing the Sims?

Ever since the summer of 2007 or 2008. I had returned from our holiday home just to find out that dad brought and installed the TS2 ( the base game ) and I was like super thrilled back then. My first neighbourhood ( and by now the most favourite ) was Strangetown and I just picked the Singles girl from the family bin and moved them into the bare, empty lot, ha-ha. Note: I didn’t have internet back then, thus I was just chilling in vanilla game without any CC.

How long have you been a Simblr and why did you become one?

To be honest, I did have one back in 2012 or 2013 and it was mostly my crappy TS2 screenshots ( sometimes TS3 ) featuring the premades. Then I just stopped playing because of school, studies and the similar sh... Anyway I didn’t even have my own device for playing the game back then, so it says all. ( Thanks to bots, my old simblr got deleted with all its stuff, but for now it doesn’t make any sense for me XD ) And finally in 2019 my very good longtime friend @melien​ encouraged me to come back again and actually inspired for all those things, ehehe. And when it comes to my reasons... I like being around the nice and creative people, sharing my own stuff, reading stories and enjoying its and game’s aesthetics.

What type of Simblr are you?

Well, my main purpose is storytelling, creating the characters, universe and lore because creative writing is my everything. Also I’m super attached to berries, sci-fi, futurism, retro and bright cartoonish MM aesthetics. I actually have a storytelling rainbowcy in TS3, gameplay NSB legacy in TS2 and currently plan to re-write my original futurustic themed story. Other than that I ocassionally post photoshoots, CAS legacies and just whatever I want.

Which generation of Sims do you primarily play?

TS3 because it’s a perfect one for me and sometimes TS2. TS4... it doesn’t run on this laptop anymore, but I don’t regret even in the slightest. I do plan install all three of them on my upcoming new PC or laptop though.

Crossover CAS Challenge

from @madeofcc: Imagine how your sims would look if they were characters from another game you love. You can choose one or several video games if you’re inspired as well as one or several sims you like or create one especially for this challenge. Your sims must look like an original character and not one already known in the game(s) you choose.

I saw this going around ts4 simblr and decided to do one since Among Us has been my go to game lately while waiting for ts2 to load. I’ll probably do a bigger make-over with a different game later, but this was really fun to set up
