doodling mochi outfit concepts again

#my art stuff#digital art#baldur's gate 3#bg3#astarion#astarion ancunin#this is part of a series I like to call “I’m never settling on a singular detailed artstyle”#I have no consistency in drawing realistic people/characters other than my shapy cartoon style#but I truly don’t get enough opportunity to properly shade anything with art in that style-!!! it always looks weird to me-!!!!!#I think some rude lil worm in my brain is wriggling around telling me it’s a futile attempt at still doing realism#cus I’m one of those “gifted” artists that grew up promising his parents he’ll end up among the big names or whatever#constantly training to become better at art but with realism oil paintings as the goal#you know how it is 😔#I wanna shade my lil funky designs but they never feel good enough to really put energy into or whatever so I compromise with stuff -#- like this where I try to draw characters more accurately while still stylizing them and shading them however I feel like it#which is great and all but I should really learn to give my more relaxed and less perfectionist art a chance#I deserve to enjoy the process and the result without working myself dead#it’s so much easier and rewarding to copy cartoon styles - stylizing realism makes me too anxious of doing it “wrong”#at least cartoon styles give me a goal to reach or a reference to strive towards#man I really should just cut myself some slack altogether#either way - this man is a flustered mess and he’s embarrassed about being called adorable in public or something#being teased in an affectionate way about his sweeter side and stuff#don’t ask why he’s shirtless - anatomy is just a lot more fun for me to draw sometimes#tasteful nudity and all that is extremely gorgeous to me#i need to practice anatomy more cus I just kinda did some shit and went with it this time with a BIT of consideration for muscle structure

Time for more eternal gales isat au, this time featuring Sier as Isabeau, creating a sprite I can never use next to Aris’ because despite my best efforts it would make them look tall
#keese draws#eternal gales#oc#oc art#isat#in stars and time#this one didn’t take nearly as long as the aris one but I think I suffered for it more from the clothes alone#siffrin made me forget I suck at drawing clothes rip#this was also harder because of how much trickier it was to try and adapt siers design to feel fitting enough for my standards#they have a very stylized design compared to most of the others#I kind of took the lazy route out by keeping most of their original shapes in tact but it’s fine#sier in this au would serve the needed role of emotionally intelligent bestie who is also too scared to cross boundaries to do much#but despite this I do think they’d actually get the suspicion quest in this au#mostly because mase is a furry artist not a nerd and sier would be more likely to look at aris and go bro. are you in a fucking timeloop.#it also differs in that aris doesn’t yell at sier abt it instead looping before they can finish because she can’t handle hearing them be#right on the money about this thing that she thought she was handling perfectly#she doesn’t want to fail them she doesn’t want them to realize she’s failed them she doesn’t want to be a burden she doesn’t want them to#‘realize’ they’re better off without her#aris is Incredibly resistant to accepting help on most serious issues because shes convinced that it’s her responsibility to deal with it#by herself and that if she can’t then she’s a failure and worse than useless#I mean in canon eternal gales she literally loses her eye and arm because of that#in this au she just lost them how sif lost his eye but she still has. complexes abt all that.#but yeah sier also differs wildly from isa in many Many other ways as does the rest of the cast from their assigned characters#for sier they rly aren’t the jock of the group at all instead being more of the guy who keeps the mood lighthearted at all times lest they#die of stress because the others haven’t said anything in a whole 30 seconds#aka they’re the self assigned peacekeeper who doesn’t actually need to constantly keep the peace because no one’s fighting but they still#feel like they need to so they dance and dance and dance for their friends until they collapse from exhaustion#metaphorically ofc#this is why they’re both terrified to confront aris when she starts acting a bit fucked up but also why they still do sometimes anyways#they talk abt this a lil bit in their friend quest as they talk abt how they want to change but are scared to

#Monster noises#unlike my usual Art Gripe posts this one isn't about me looking at my art and seeing something Mediocre#it's me looking at the Objectively Technically Successful thing I'm working on/recently posted and Feeling Nothing From It#and I mean sure we'll chalk a little bit of that up to the depression#cause whether or not I'm feeling Things about the stylization of my work I Should be more giddy than I am#about the husbands finally getting Nasty#outside of just my brain space#but putting that aside the point remains#I'm disappointed by the pieces (and many of my recent pieces and many pieces going back years) lack of Dynamism#I want to capture what the Feeling in image is more than an actual Depiction of the Thing if that makes sense?#Poses should be Pushed#Anatomy eskewed for Shape and expression#but I always always Always Shrink Back#I get to a point and I start thinking 'this looks wrong' and I pull back#I pull back to try and make it look 'right'#and end up reducing it to something...#not Stiff#but limp?#metaphysically Limp#Lacking in the evocative expression I wanted it to have#can you /feel/ the arch of his back like a melody in the back of your head?#or is he just like.. clearly arching his back like a human person would#there's a tacit difference and I am disappointment how rarely I hit the mark on the former#and this is an Old thing and Old old thing#that started in highschool#a long-term bad chain of experiences with a friend and trying to learn to be better artists together#not understanding my needs and how my brain works and trying to fit in a very specific hole i didn't want to fit in#and being chastised for it (though the slight was probably more Received than Intended)#what broke me out of that last time#and kept me from giving up drawing basically

Thought about making a ghost town au jason design but kinda bluescreened when I realized he wouldn't be a doll tbh
#ghost town is a story if mine ^v^! its mostly just design fun#and yeah ghost doll isn't a fit for jason. well maybe it could depend on time when/how he died#but both of his proper deaths ive seen he wouldn't make a doll ghost. maybe a broken or cracked doll#he gets close. so i can see it happening for him depending#doll ghostss are people who often hide their own feelings and will try to make themselves better or more appealing for others#often at the harm and loss of themselves#theres also an element of being something to display to it#so like. all of my doll aus#thinking about his batarang death. DEFINITELY a ghost thatd have their injury clear#cant tell if i want him actually drenched in blood or like. stylized blood. like that pearl necklace#kinda want him in a suit of armor tbh. for funsies. im varying between that or just his normal self#well actually i fully believe a post utrh death jason would look like his child self. but shhh we're exploring other avenues right now#i cant WAIT to finish my jason todd design so i can start dressing him up hehe#unfortunately figuring out just like. normal designs. is harder for me than au outfits so its taking me a bit -~-#and/or doll ghosts can be from incredibly passive people bc that is like attached to my previous explanations. squares and rectangles tho#not related to jason

auauauauagh i want to be able to see people's faces fucking clearly so i can draw my cool ocs!!! bc i don't want to give them all same face syndrome and i wanna work on my anatomy as well but i literally cannot see facial proportions on references because of my faceproblem ←my term for the weird thing i experience where every time i try to look at a face in detail the facial features zoom in at my face repeatedly and at high speeds

#it doesn’t matter how well you can draw if there’s no emotion behind it#like if you can’t draw perfectly proportioned and perfectly colored then#it has to be beautiful in some stylized way or meaningful or representative of smth#it feels like there’s nothing there#just lines#vent#haaaaa#I spent days working on this thing and it didn’t get received very well#it was empty and too - idk ? careful#there was no energy or life#like I was trying too hard to make it palatable#that’s no way to live or create#it’s the absolute worst to be in a space with so many talented people#obv that’s not true they inspire me and push me#but I can’t help but compare#despite how long I’ve done this for I really am a beginner artist#I don’t explore settings or experiment too hard#🤘we stay silly regardless#I just want to do better !!!

Literally so fucked up but also so funny that the second or third drawing I ever did of Anton (the one that's my pfp) is still my favorite. Something about the way I drew his face or hair or beard is PERFECT to me and I still haven't been able to figure out what it is or how to replicate it
#I know his nose is different but that's bc I'm now purposely trying to draw his nose more like the way it's drawn in updated sprites#I think exaggerated features has a lot to do with it. big brows big eyes big mouth. but I just can't ever get it quite right#maybe also the angle of his hair and beard? like the way they spike out#I just think he looks just the perfect mix between my way of drawing/imagining him and the way he's stylized in canon#which is what I want#but it's never gotten better than this akhfksbfjsg#roz posts#♡: 🔨🎰🥃
