Они умерли от старости, причем в один день с разницей всего в пару часов. Это была очень хорошая история, по которой я сильно буду скучать.

In a group of four, people usually have one friend who's closest to them. In BD 1st gen, I always get the impression of Shinichiro being closer to Takeomi and Wakasa being closer to Benkei. Is my impression canon? After reading so many fanfic, I forget which friend Shin is canonically closer to since he tends to be shipped with Waka haha

Well I'm not sure there is a canon answer to this exactly, but I'd say both Takeomi and Wakasa but at different times. Like when he first created the gang and while they were in the gang I'm pretty sure it was Takeomi. They are childhood friends, we see them hanging out together at Shinichiro's house and they lead the black dragons together. Although we don't get to see a lot of them during this time I'm sure they were very close. Wakasa and Benkei were also known as a tough duo during this time, showing that they were also very close.

But after the first gen retired I think it became Wakasa instead. We know Takeomi was unhappy about the retirement and we know they weren't around each other as much, Takeomi only heard about Shinichiro's death and was seemingly too caught up in his own life for his friend (and family). Meanwhile we see Wakasa attempting to support Shinichiro in the first timeline after Mikey's death and we know Shinichiro told Wakasa about the time leaping. Shinichiro may have told Benkei and Takeomi about it too but that's not confirmed and we don't really have any evidence to support that. He must've had a lot of trust in Wakasa to reveal something like that to him and Since Takeomi was seemingly not around much anymore, I think it makes sense that Shinichiro grew closer to Wakasa during this time.

Gapryong Kim is mostly popular with the popular and sassy girls. The other students thought that he's too intimidating for them. And the shy and soft girls are mostly crushing on Jinyoung. See the difference?

And there's a bit of a difference on their personalities too and how they treat women. Gapryong is a flirty type of guy, mostly confident about his popularity on his classmates (he's the type to pin you on your locker if he knows that you like him 💀✋). But Gapryong wouldn't push someone's limits though, if the girl feels uncomfortable about it then he'll genuinely stop. Gapryong may be sometimes competitive when it comes to playing sports since he's an athlete, but he has not only the physical feats but also the leadership skills which makes his fellow teammates look up to him.

Jinyoung on the other hand is a different type of book to read. Not only he is like a prince who popped out on a fairy tale but he's also super sweet and generously helpful to not only his female classmates but also to the men who gets a bit jealous on him too. He's also a fellow athlete and he mostly helps Gapryong in taking the lead to win the games. He's like the second leader and action taker if that makes sense.

But there's one attribute that they always share though. Despite their differences, they are willing to help others who are in need whether it's about the homeworks and lessons that they can't catch up with or whether it's about personal reasons. You may think that you're out of their league but trust me, they're actually nice and fun to hang out with. So take your chance 😉. Studying, eating on food stalls, playing athletic games, karaoke bars, literally anything is fun with them (imagine having a love triangle with them lol HLAK:DL:K).

Probably the top-notcher in the class (competing with Gapryong and Jinyoung). If you asked me, he'll be super focused on his academics and he wouldn't really care about his love life. He's fine with unpopularity with the girls, even enjoying it since he can focus on his studies without being disturbed on his study sessions. He'll be SUPER COMPETITIVE about it too, taking it to the next level. Whether it's recitations, performance tasks, the daily and quarter exams, homeworks, seat works, projects, he'll make sure he's number one and no one else would be able to take his place (even his friends which can be a turn off for them). He'll also be the type to cancel plans just for his academics making his gang of friends disappointed at times... But he thinks that having bit of fun at times is no problem so there will be times where he will hang out in food stalls with the group. Though he prefers hanging out in his place or in school.

Most of the students are super intimidated by him. He'll be the type to argue with the teacher when he notices his classmates score higher than him on essays... (The man won't catch a break 🙄). So the moment the teacher gave the exam papers all of his classmates would hide their test papers on their backpacks to avoid HIS confrontation like "What's your score? Let me see." (except for Gapryong, Jinyoung and Tom though lol).

Play mind or board games with him like chess, Uno cards, Poker, or Rubik's cubes. He'll probably have a fun time with you 🤷 (he's so hard to approach omfg).

Many students are also afraid of him, but he's actually SUPER FUN to hang out with (just don't piss him off or he's literally going to shit on your face 💀).

Kind of known as the class clown. He's going to prank every student there and he's the reason why Jinyoung and Elite, who's known for their quietness go to their "lmao" phase. He'll also sniff the chalk dust when he's bored (trust me, I saw the guys on my class do this lol). He's also the type to cuss a lot and raise his middle finger (especially to Gapryong, cussing Tom back) when there's no teacher in the class for fun but when there's a lesson he'll go from 👺😈🖕 → 😊🌸✨ (It's kind of funny to watch tbh). He'll also be the type to appear "dumb" to the other students but he's decently smart (along with his stock knowledge, remember he doesn't really study in the quarterly exams 🤷). He just don't want to be overly involved in academics as much as Charles since he doesn't want to pressure himself. Also the type to laugh at exams with Gapryong (even with Jinyoung and Charles when they make eye contact) because he knows he's going to fail for the first try and take a remedial test 😭🗿.

Him and Gapryong are also very close to each other (because they can be the dumbasses of the group). He's also the type to pass shitty projects to the teacher since he mostly doesn't care about his studies. If it weren't for his friends he'll be absent the whole year 💀✋.

Also the type to ask you out (as homies) every time but also depends on you to pay for the food 💀✋ (good luck to the people who's trying to save money). He's also the type to ask random people for coins for his snacks even though he has ton shit of money 😭🗿💀✋. He may appear as a fake ass friend but he'll try to share the bills, promise.

Goofy (speaking of Goo) af. But remember everybody has a dark side so just don't piss him off and you're in good terms with him (Tom is not the type to be easily offended but don't be a snitch or he'll expose your darkest secrets). He'll also beat someone's ass along with his friends if they tried to mess with you (respect). Karaoke nights and sleepovers with him is so chaotic lmao. He's a menace.

They're also probably one of the smartest and brightest students in your class. They might not be in James' level, but that doesn't mean they're less. They're willing to help you out in your studies and homeworks if you're in trouble like solving mathematic algebraic expressions. Also a really good listener and actually gives helpful advices when you're down 🖤✨🥀🙏 .

Hanging out with them are also, really unexpectedly fun? Which is kind of shocking for the others since they are mostly known as introverts. But trust me, the moment they warm up to you they are actually dumbasses at times 😭. Studying, going on the mall, sleepovers, mind or board games, and talking about philosophic topics is fun for them.

Not really the type of guys to start a fight first, but the moment someone pisses them off they would fight back. Especially when someone tries to make you upset (in an intentional way).

- from an outsider’s perspective waka doesn't seem like a very affectionate boyfriend — he's not a big fan of pda and doesn't outwardly show his love for you in front of others, to the point where he even comes across as distant sometimes

Oh that's a great idea, I could definitely see Shinichiro and his childhood friend falling for each other!

Shinichiro and his childhood friend who are neighbours, they practically grew up together. Constantly playing in each other's houses and going to school together.

Shinichiro actually crying the first time he saw his you holding his baby brother.

Attending the dojo with Shin and always cheering him on, even if he wasn't very good.

All the adult's teasing them, saying they're bound to get married one day. While the two kids just laugh, they're just friends so that'll never happen...right?

As you grow older the two of you never grow apart but become a bit more aware of each other. Shinichiro being interested in his childhood friend but not wanting to ruin the friendship. And you just assuming he isn't interested in anything romantic with you.

Being there for Shin when his parents died, holding him for hours while he cried and promising him that you'll never leave him.

Constantly going on rides with Shin, holding tight to his back, while both him and you struggle to concentrate while in this strangely intimate situation. 

Laughing when Shinichiro says he's starting a gang but wishing him the best of luck when you realise he's serious. That's when he starts laughing before asking you to join "you really thought I could do this without you?"

New year, New OC reveal 🩷✨ That bug-looking baby (as @amiahoshi described him in this picture😭) is Ibuki! He's Ryuuka's son, Rinko's nephew and will also be eventually succeeding them as Oniyanagi 2nd later in this time period (once he grows up strong and healthy). His charm point for me is his cockroach antenna-like ahoge lmao

It has been in our story/character concept list for so long that Ryuuka would eventually have a child who would then succeed her and Rinko as the next boss of the Family. So I'm happy that we're finally able to flesh Oniyanagi 2nd out a bit more and have Ibuki as a result! He's very new and we currently only have limited information so I can only show his baby pic for now with his father and auntie hahaha (of course he has other aunties and uncles from the 1st gen Oniyanagi guardian lineup) But he also has a few "uncles" from Vongola who visit from time to time, but so far, I think it's between Uncle Giotto or Uncle Asari who would be the ones to make the most impression on him from that family!

Why you should not trust graphs

I'm working on a little followup to my top video game fandoms on AO3 project, digging into the ratings, relationship types, etc. within some of those fandoms.

Last week I grabbed all the numbers off of AO3 and put them in a spreadsheet, and then left off because I was sleepy. Today I sat down to make the graphs out of those numbers. I went to do relationship types and got this:

That cannot possibly be right, I read FFXIV fic and I've dug into the stats before, I know F/M and M/M are an almost even split.

If I wasn't paying attention to what the graph actually shows and just trusted my own work, or if I didn't know the fandom well enough to know that looked wrong, I could have just thrown that on Tumblr and let everyone marvel at such an odd outlier of a fandom.

What had happened is some sheet sorting I did last week, while sleepy, hadn't worked properly, and my labels got shuffled. The actual spread for this fandom is:

It actually is an outlier! But my graph was just plain wrong because I'd goofed.

Then as I was checking all my data to make sure nothing else got shuffled, I realised that I'd accidentally grabbed the full archive numbers for Genshin Impact when I'd meant to grab numbers only for fic created before Jan 1st. All the numbers for that fandom were slightly larger than they should have been. Two weeks' worth of fic is not enough to throw off a graph in a fandom that huge, but my numbers were not what I said they were. If I had posted those in graph form on Tumblr, I'd have been telling you untrue things, but the difference would be small enough that no one would catch it from the graphs themselves, they'd have to actually check my work.

Please check my work.

If Genshin Impact has 72003 or 71957 works on AO3 with the Chose Not To Warn tag published before Jan 1 2025 is not a big deal in grand scheme of things, but if you're looking at a graph about something serious like climate change or public health, small differences in figures like that and data labeled for the wrong week does matter.

Graphs are a great way to understand a bunch of numbers, but you cannot just trust that they show what they say they show. Sometimes people screw up, sometimes programs screw up, and sometimes people are lying to you on purpose.

Click through to AO3 and glance at the stats yourselves. Ask for sources if the person showing you the graph doesn't share them. Check people's work.
