I don't know how it unfolds in the live play but I keep thinking how wild it was that vex thought she and percy were being so clever hiding their relationship from the rest of the party when THEY ALL KNEW.

love that she used them as a thinly veiled excuse like, "oh noo but what will they think, they'll be distracted, and my brother will be so mad, oh noo" like. miss girl, allura knows. cassandra knows. the party knows. vex fully saving percy’s life on three separate occasions in the first 3 episodes, being deeply bothered in the one occasion where she couldn’t be the one to save him. very tryst behaviour, very bad omen of her to be the person that keeps him from getting hurt both physically and who reminds him to forgive himself (while he is sitting at a desk tinkering in front of a model clock tower 🙃) and that giving himself over to — essentially — death in the name of his own guilt won’t get him anywhere. i would like to set syldor vessar on fire. vex has literally been at the forefront of things that have saved percy throughout the show, and in fact percy has been more of a bad omen for her than the other way around, between orthax trying to get percy to shoot her and the whole causing her death thing, and vex being so convinced that her potentially loving someone is a curse she gives them and not the blessing it has clearly been for percy. head in hands . i love their dynamic so far is s3 for silly it’s fun reasons like seeing the inversion of boring tropes by having percy be fully portrayed as a damsel in distress and vex taking on the protective knight role, down to her suave lines after saving him and percy being a blushing mess when she so much as flirts with him. that said i am gnawing on my cage about the fact that the show is clearly showing vex as percy’s protector in the actions she takes but also making it clear that to her she can’t be good.

i will forever mourn that the tlovm version of saundor didn’t include the emphasis on ‘unproven ally’ because i think that part actually carried the brunt of the weight for vex’s growth post-saundor in campaign — especially re: her morality and her role in vox machina — than unwanted daughter ever could, since she already knew she was unwanted by syldor, but having saundor call her an unproven ally was a confirmation of fears she’d had but, until that point, could be repressed and turned away from because up to that point they were just fears. but all that said, i’m really heartened by the fact that s3 does seem to be bringing up vex’s concerns re: her goodness and how that impacts the rest of the party, particularly those she’s closest to. do i think some of the weight is taken out of the sails of vex thinking she’s a bad omen by the lack of establishment earlier in the show that she was struggling with seeing herself as something that could be good? yes, but i’m also really excited to see how her view of herself might be addressed in (potentially) upcoming story beats like glintshore and bard’s lament.

Welcome! It is time for a new episode of Vex's @that-house's Mechs and Memes, where I take a lancer mech meme by Vex that-house and voice it in the style of LoadingReadyRun's character of Dave's Spokesman.

Today we are upping the (reactor) crimes by visiting an old creation of Harrison Armory: The Enkidu

If you're the sort to read the whole post before listening to the audio, then you'll find out something in advance: April Fools, I took some audio from Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, and tried to make this sound like a fake ad that'd play in the episode's scheduled break, adding some radio crackle and a bit of an earlier part of the show to make it sound more like it was an old recording somebody made at home.

But I also did record something in the official Dave's Spokesman style:

And vex doesn't much besides responding to Vax or the iconic "do you think this is what mother saw before she died?" and I got to wonder how often she just sits there at this tavern or that stump on her watch especially early on thinking about her and how proud or not Eli'd be of her. Like obviously Vex doesn't like herself at the beginning, she's greedy and mean and callous and had killed innocent people and is selfish and everyone but Vax expects that of her and they don't really care, but at the end of the day she's not just effortlessly good all the time like keyleth, who doesn't even have the decency to struggle at being good and kind and flush with likeable traits,

That's what syldor had wanted of her ofc, what she failed to bring him, so naturally he wishes she was a spot he could just bleach out, so then what would elaina think after all that hard work and sacrifice and the hope she'd had for the better life she and Vax would have with their father, if she knew vex had not only not lived up to anyone's expectations but had done worse

oh I bet it eats her up thinking about the possibility that elaina would be so deeply disappointed ohhh

shortform video styles of advertising are so obnoxious, like for example the "people say nobody wants X" [cut to X but it's cool] format. NOBODY is out there saying "nobody wants to hear a fiddle drop in an EDM song", that is not an opinion regular people have, that's ragebait rhetoric, but god fucking dammit OF COURSE i want to hear the fiddle drop. i have never once in my life not wanted an epic fiddle drop in my music. i live and breathe folksy fiddle solos. i hate to indulge annoying advertising but link me the fiddle drop edm song. the algorithm clearly has my number just give me the funky fiddle jams already aaahhghgggh
