Finally hit 60 hrs in Elden Ring and I think I’m….2/3 of the way through the main story? On average I’m guessing I’m like halfway through most NPC quest lines. There is still So Much to do.

Larian fixed the after drow dialogue with Halsin and I---

A developer that listens to concerns, makes active changes in their game to make us feel comfortable... i am absolutely speechless. The speed in which they turned out the dialogue, considering it needs to be written, voiceovered and lip-synced in the game on top of the 1k+ fixes they are also handling. Absolutely in awe here. This game truly deserves GOTY a million times over.

I finally beat the main story mode of Pikmin 4 the other day, and I just had to do something to celebrate such a wonderful, beautiful game. Truly my GOTY for 2023.

"...Raven. Ready to be advised in fashion sense." Oddly not the worst thing they were tutored in but it was certainly a subject matter they had little to no knowledge in whatsoever. And Hiyori seemed very eager to help get them on the right path.

"They aren't no." A quick brush back of their hair told the entire story, nothing substantial at all beyond the usual permanent scaling.

"But then again I never really had any time before here to think about what would work best on me. Fashion was not something I had the freedom of picking."

"I'm glad you asked. ♪" With a hand loosely at his chest, he proudly claimed, "Hiyori Tomoe will be your personal advisor for today! While you would be even better served if my friend Arashi was here to assist me, we can cover plenty of ground on our own."

He'd already thought about it, and he would've loved for Arashi to stroll through the scenic Opalarian Market Town with him. It was still better for her to (presumably) be back home with her unit.

"Do you have any ideal in mind for yourself? I can make suggestions without one, but I do wonder what you might like to "look good" in." Angling his head from one side to the other, he posed another question. "By the way, are your ears pierced? I can't see well past your hair, but you can do a lot with very little there."

Metaphor Refantazio is at the top of my GOTY awards for JRPGs. I already have played through the Demo and I truly did enjoy the characters and what little story we got. Also, our main character; canon name is Will by the way, can actually talk.

One of the brief things I wanted to raise my opinion on is the idea of the Royal Campaign of whose going to be the next king. Really, there are A LOT of messages that can come off from it. But if we had to go into politics here, which I never would do under any circumstances, it’s more of why I would never become President.

Will is only going through the Royal Tournament not to become King, but to save his friend from the curse Louis placed on him before he is killed. I don’t think he is doing it for the sake of becoming a ruler over the people.

And this brings up what I believe is the main message behind Metaphor. It’s not about, deconstructing real life politics, or more than just the power of friendship blah blah blah. IMO, I think this is a story about how real heroes are forged and what it means to earn the respect of those who choose to follow you.

Louis’s actions in winning over the people are through power, force, and compelling others through fear. The exact qualities a leader SHOULD NOT have. The game is all about Will going through a journey to earn the respect of the people around him through his actions.

And as More’s line here aptly puts it, Louis is doing this by his strength alone. Will, on the other hand, has to learn to be a hero through the relationships that he has to make along the way, such as Strohl.

Archetypes are described to be based on heroes, and the heroes we know throughout our lives also needed allies and friends to help build them up and becom stronger. Other heroes in various media, and heck, even real life leaders, need the support of those around them to lead them to their goals. It’s how you build your following, what you build that following around and what that means. That’s what it means to be king/ president IMO.

This is a JRPG at the end of the day, and will be compared to Persona and the like, and hated for using the power of friendship. But it’s all about how you do it and what it builds up to.
