@igniida : "My sunflower. Being with you is just like pulling two SSR's in one day." Idia attempting to be romantic with Salem
“ ... ” At first it looks like the flirtation doesn't register with Salem, the redhead merely slow blinking in response. Despite being in proximity with Idia for so long, it can sometimes be difficult to remember what all his lingo means. In fact, in recent months they've started using a separate notebook full of definitions and descriptions of the things Idia says. Hopefully with that, they'll be able to keep up with him in due time.
Instead of saying anything in response, Salem wordlessly steps out of the room, briefly leaving Idia in perplexed panic. When they return, they have their Idia lexicon in hand. They open the page on gacha terms and skim the contents before promptly closing it again. When Salem's eyes meet Idia's again, their lips have curved upward in a minute smile. Without a word they lean forward to press a soft kiss to their boyfriend's flushed cheek, still smiling when they withdraw.
“ Thank you, Idia. You're my most prized UR card. ” They're not sure if that's the correct way to phrase it, but they hope Idia will still understand what they're trying to say.
#verse: post canon.#interactions: salem.#igniida#my north star radiant & bright. with you i’ll never be lost again on this dark stormy night. ( salide / igniida. )#asks.#true love is writing a full lexicon so you can understand and communicate to your autistic boyfriend in his gamer lingo#if its not clear they also referred to the lexicon for how to flirt back lmao#i love them btw#but also would 10/10 gag hearing this kid of flirting

margaery tyrell (because sansa loves nothing more than to tease him about potential suitors)
Recommend romantic candidates for my muses and see their reaction!
"as if olenna tyrell would marry off the pride of highgarden to me." a bastard in name. at least, that is what he is saying at least. he grew up a bastard. the woman is also smart, but god he really does not want to talk about his potential brides to be with his sister. torture, of the worst kind. "do we really need to talk about these things? or perhaps, i should say you go marry one of the tyrell boys. i think lord mandarly would start a war if i dare marry outside of the north itself." ferouciously, that might be the biggest battle he doesn't want to handle. potential marriage. "i heard she is beautiful and smart. . .so there is that, sister."
#northsblood#━━ ✷ 〉 answered asks / what did you see whe nyou died.#jokes on sans.a he and marg in one verse are already making eyes to one another#wait until olenna hears his true parentage she gonna yeet to the north

This feels like a disconnect between the USA and the UK, but I don’t think you guys realise just how dense and old this country is. When millions of people have lived stably on the same island for a thousand years (the last successful invasion was literally that long ago from memory), it tends to have a mild impact on the environment
It doesn’t even have to be intentional - when the choice is between getting killed or kill, people choose the latter, and when you have so many packed into such a small space those situations will happen a lot more. It’s really just a numbers game - there was no way any predator was surviving on this small island very long if it was at least a mild threat to people, and being an island means that there’s no way for new predators to replace them
Size is also why so much of our land, especially in England (which is where I’m from, so my understanding is likely biased that way), is used, we also happen to have quite a good environment for farming, so it’s almost a given that we’d expand over it
Maybe it is weird to outsiders, but growing up here it’s just a given that you don’t think about threats when in forests and such. It’s been like that for so long no one questions it, and you just accept that all the land here is used for something. Is that a good thing? Probably not. But we didn’t really choose to do this, this is just how it’s been for a few hundred years now
Actually your society is the freaks for shooting everything that moves and burning half your "nature reserves" every year so that upperclass dandies can eat leaded pheasant. North Americans are the well adjusted ones here, your country has become a desolate suburban lawn in island form
#if I’ve misunderstood the op please forgive#I’m not well versed in online discourse#I do like living here#it’s a nice place#and the nhs is brilliant#why do you think there was such a rush to grab land from us tho lol#being such an old country does have issues tho#our government system is archaic#and classism is just embedded into our way of life#which isn’t a good thing#but it is what it is#we’ll try to fix it hopefully#also ‘north Americans are well adjusted’?#really? I’ve seen the news#I know that’s no entirely true

Aagman
A yuga has changed. So many years have passed by. My name still resides in the entirety of Bharatavarsha, now what you all call as Bharat that is India.
From the north, to the south, to the eastern and western coasts, I see every one of you sing my name, dance to my esoteric tunes, and breathe in this holy land which I have left thousands of years ago.
My birthday arrives once again. The rains have begun their downpour just like that night. It shall be a dark night once again, but less terrifying than the night I was born on.
I see you. You. Yes.
You look at my photos, at my painting, at the countless poetic verse singing praises about my stories, about my beauty, and my leela. You hum a few tunes. Your eyes close, and you see my dark form in front of you.
Something stirs your eyes awake. You wonder if it is really me or just an image your mind conjures from your countless memories of watching my artwork.
Everything is true. Everything is me.
I see, live, breathe beside you. Inside you. Around you.
You think you have gone too far now. You say I am a distant memory in your waking thoughts. There is silence around you. Your days are filled with tasks, and you no longer hear the tunes of my flute.
But, tell me the truth. Don't I still come in your thoughts be it only for a second?
What do I need? Love. It is simple. It isn't a chore, like you believe it to be. I am not your God. I am Love. I am a Lover. You are a Lover.
The silence pervades still, doesn't it. Close your eyes now. I mean it literally.
Breathe...
Hari bol bol bol krishna bol bol bol
Radha radhe hari krishna bol bol bol
In this silence, do I live still. The stillness is me. The distance is me. I am whole and I am nothing. Did you forget that. I am light and I am dark.
I was born on a very dark night. Night is quiet. At daybreak, my happy gurgles brought light to Gokul. I am here, with you, living silently, gazing at you.
I am here whenever you call me. Look at me and you shall find me. You do not have to find me.
Mere mann mein hari, mere tann mein hari
Kann kann mein hari, jeevan mein hari
When I am everywhere, why do you search for me and be desperate and break you heart?
Govind hare gopal hare
Shrinath hare, Hey mukund hare...
I hold the other side of the thread. I am the thread. I am the boat and the boatman, and I am the river.
Open your eyes.
Open it. Now.
There... you have found me.
I am yours.
Tagging: @jukti-torko-golpo (idk why and how it came to me to write this but i had to. well happy janmashtami didi. The night is magical) and every krishnasakhi who would need it. Happy Janmashtami to everyone.

Andromeda’s race/ethnicity and why it’s not inaccurate to interpret her as black/African
Now you’ve seen how I draw my babygirl as Afro Palestinian Egyptian so you know where I personally stand on the subject. However, my interpretation isn’t the only one, ancient authors, from mythographers to historians to poets to playwrights, have proposed various different locations for Andromeda’s homeland, often times contradicting each other, what I’m trying to do here is correct some misinformation as well as argue that even if Andromeda isn’t black/ethiopian, she still wouldn’t be considered white or ethnically European.
I would like to reiterate like I did with my Hephaestus/Aphrodite post that I’m not a mythology or history expert, I just read a lot. So do your own research and come up with your own conclusions.
Let’s go.
The etymology of “Aethiopia”
Aethiopia means "of burned face" which yes is pretty racist be modern standards but basically means that its inhabitants are dark skinned, so even if you go by sources that it isn’t in Africa, the inhabitants still wouldn’t be white or Greek.
Location of the Kingdom
You’d hear the statement that the Aethiopia in mythology is not the same as Ethiopia the modern country, which is true. You’d also hear that it’s a completely fictitious location, that’s only partially true, while Aethiopia existed mainly as a mythological location (mentioned as early as the Iliad) that didn’t stop ancient historians, mythographers and poets from placing it in real locations or calling pre-existing nations Aethiopia. It’s hard to pick which one is more “accurate” bc they all contradict each other, not only that, but these writers didn’t actually visit these locations and ancient ppl weren’t as well versed in geography as we are today so they’d be weirdly vague or confusing about these locations, I mean just look at an ancient map and you’d see what I mean.
So personally, I think you can go with any version you personally prefer, the options are quite limitless, she could be from the Arab peninsula, the Levant, North Africa, Persia, hell maybe even India if you are like Ovid.
Andromeda’s genealogy
(I just realized that these are the Waterson kids color palette while writing this lmaooooooooo)
Yes Andromeda is descended from Zeus (no family tree can escape that man lol) and she’s also the great granddaughter of Poseidon, which adds a whole new layer to the fact he tried to kill her.
Now for a bit of history: The Trojan war (which didn’t happen irl obviously) was dated as taking place in the 12th or 13th century BCE by some ancient writers, that war happens a few generations after Perseus’s story, which means that Egypt was in the New Kingdom era, also called the Egyptian Empire, when Nubians (who would be considered black by today’s standards) were a very important part of society, even becoming Pharaohs. Ancient Egypt was a lot more diverse than modern ppl give it credit for, there were multiple ethnic groups living there. Not to mention that you can’t get more Egyptian than being descended from the god of the Nile River lol
Libya is (obviously) the personification of the region of Libya, not the modern country Libya, but the general area in North Africa west of Egypt. The name Libya comes from the Libu, a berber tribe. So once again, even if Andromeda wasn’t black, even if you interpreted that her kingdom is placed in Asia, she’d still be of African decent.
Cassiopeia is a tricky one, her origins are obscure, she’s called a nymph by Nonnus, while Stephanus of Byzantium (a very late source) states she’s from Ioppa and that the city takes its name from her. However, Ioppa/Jaffa was identified as Andromeda’s home much earlier in Periplus attributed to Scylax, which was composed in the late fourth century bc.
Conclusion
You can make Andromeda black it’s ok. Ancient writers couldn’t agree on her country’s location but we can still speculate. Anyways ummm… I think that’s it? Maybe I’ll add to this if I find or remember more interesting information.
Have a great day.

Trevor Zegras x fem!reader

wc - 3.3k
contains - NOT EDITED SO THERES PROB A FEWWWW MISTAKES. cursing, angst to fluff in a way, heartbreak, reader gets used, asshole/manipulative!trevor, implied sex (no actual smut), crying, cheating, no happy ending between trevor and reader, but happy ending for reader overall!!!!! not allllll of the song is used like in the actual like lyrics typed out but i just like didn't use some of the repeated verses more than once so yeah. let me know!
an - this hurt. love Trevor but this hurt. and it's honestly pretty short because I really didn't know what else to add so sorry!!!!! but also i kinda like this because i made up a hot man so. i would love new requests, for literally anything with anyone i loveeeeee writing requests but my inbox is literally barren rn.
-
salt air, and the rust on your door. i never needed anything more.
The summer had been perfect. You spent the whole thing in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, with your best friends, and a perfect boy.
You had traveled to the OBX in the middle of June, with your 5 best friends. You guys had rented a house for the summer, you'd been saving for the trips since the end of high school, and you were finally able to go.
You guys spent many days in the sun, getting tan and playing volleyball, swimming in the pool and ocean.
whispers of "are you sure?" "never have i ever before"
On your second week, a group of guys had moved into the house next to yours. One evening while you guys were on the beach they came out and set up next to your group, and one of them had their eyes on you from the get go.
Trevor was something you'd been waiting for for years, a guy that was invested in you, a guy that really liked you and was interested in you.
He would bring you to places you never thought you'd see, places you'd remember your whole life. The blonde would often wake up in your bed, he would smile sweetly and snuggle closer to you, asking for a few more minutes before you guys got up to go to the beach. He took you driving, hiking, you guys would go on runs.
but i can see us lost in the memory. august slipped away into a moment in time, 'cause it was never mine.
You all had to leave on the same weekend, it was the beginning of August, and you were all sad. Before you left, Trevor talked all about how he would miss you, and would call you, and text, and do everything he could to keep contact. You discovered that that wasn't true about two weeks after you guys had left, because his contact faded out then he completely ghosted you.
You were completely heart broken over it. Your friends tried to comfort you, but weren't sure how to. You'd had a whirlwind summer romance, and then abruptly lost it all.
and i can see us twisted in bedsheets, august slipped away like a bottle of wine. 'cause you were never mine.
You had the worst night of your life when your friend showed you a photo Trevor had posted on his Instagram story, which you couldn't see because he had blocked you. It was a picture of him and a girl, with the text reading, "happy 1 year with my favorite!🤍"
You just cried, and cried, and cried. You felt terrible, you had no idea that he was involved with anyone else. He never made an indication that he was cheating with you, he told you flat out he was single the first night you met.
your back beneath the sun, wishin' i could write my name on it. will you call, when you're back at school?
You had dreams of the nights you spent with him. You remember him telling you he'd keep in touch, he would tell you how excited he was for the week you were planned to be in Anaheim in November, since that's where your extended family lived.
Now you were in Anaheim, and all you could think of was Trevor. You sat on the edge of the bed you were sharing with your favorite cousin, sulking as you texted your friends.
"Babe, what's wrong? You've been different since you got here."
You looked up at her, smiling sadly. Quickly you shook your head, turning your phone off and standing up.
"It's nothing, just a long story."
"Well we've got five days, so you better start soon."
You turned and looked at her, and the look she gave you had you spilling it all. You told her every detail, starting July 2nd and ending August 7th, how everything happened after, finding out you were just his side piece while he had a whole girlfriend back home. You cousin was fuming by the end, ranting to you about how he didn't deserve you or your love.
i remember thinkin' i had you. but i can see us, lost in the memory. august slipped away, into a moment in time.
"Hun, it sounds like you need some dick."
You laughed out loud, your hand going to cover her mouth, shushing her quietly. You felt like you were 14 again, whispering to your cool 16 year old cousin about your secret first boyfriend while you slept over at her house.
"Oh my god, shut up! What if my dad heard you? What is grandma heard you?! I would not be let out of the house the rest of this trip."
She giggled as she pulled your hand from her lips, before beginning to beg you to go out with her tonight. She saw the perfect opportunity for you to get out of this house full of old people and little kids, and another to get your mind off of that dickhead.
It took a little bit of convincing, but you finally agreed. Even though you two were 22 and 24, your parents still probably would have a problem with you guys going out so you left the house with sweats over your dresses.
You two sat in the car for a minute, searching for a good bar to drive to. You found one that was only 10 minutes away and started your drive. Your cousin told you that she would have one drink then only water for the rest of the night so you could drink as much as you wanted to.
'cause it was never mine.
You guys found parking a little ways away then walked to the bar. It was crowded when you walked in, surprising to you guys because it was Sunday night.
Your cousin pushed you through the crowd with her hands on your shoulders. You guys finally found a spot open at the bar. She urged you to sit at the one seat while she stood next to you. You flagged down a bartender and ordered your first drink. You sat talking to your cousin for a while before she discovered a group of her local friends there, claiming she'd be gone for just a couple minutes. It'd been almost 30.
You sighed, sadly sipping on your cosmopolitan and checking your phone. You froze when you heard a certain name called through the loud atmosphere of the bar. You turned your head slightly, trying not to make it too obvious, and then you saw him, dapping up another guy you knew, Jamie. Fuck your life. You couldn't fucking believe that out of all the bars in Anaheim he had to be at this one. You turned back around towards the bar, closing your eyes and muttering curse words under your breath.
and i can see us twisted in bedsheets. august slipped away, like a bottle of wine. 'cause you were never mine
"You okay, darlin'?"
Your eyes shot open, looking towards where the unknown voice came from, only to find the owner to be the rather attractive bartender that'd been serving you tonight.
"Oh, uh yeah, thank you it's kind of a long story."
"Well my sections cleared out for now, if you want someone to tell."
You smiled at him, he leaned onto the bar in front of you. He was hot, if you were gonna be honest. He had dark brown hair, brown eyes that looked like honey in the warm lighting of the bar, and a beard that matched his hair. He was sweet, he'd been nice every time he served you. He was also southern, which was so sexy. You had had 2 and a half drinks, so you were a little buzzed, so you were more open to telling him.
"Well before I tell you my sob story, I need to know who I'm telling it to."
He smiled, oh my God his smile was perfect, his teeth were so perfectly straight and white.
"Well I'm Noah, and I'm from Texas, but my dad owns bars out here, like this one. I just work here whenever I'm home because they can always use more hands on deck, but I'm still in school in North Cali."
You started at him the whole time, he just seemed like such a genuine person, and he wasn't hard to look at. You thought the fact that he just worked here whenever he could to help his family was actually so cute.
"That's sweet! You just come here to help your dad?"
He nodded, his smile bringing a light feeling to your chest. You leaned your cheek against your palm, looking to begin your story.
"So Noah, you noticed my reaction to that guy walking in. That reaction was because this summer me and my friends were living in a beach house in the Outer Banks from like the middle of June until August. And so in like July this group of guys started staying at the house next to us and that guy, Trevor, was apart of that group."
Noah nodded, already giving Trevor dirty looks.
"He like was practically my boyfriend for a month and a half, then when he left he ghosted me, and then I see him post his one year anniversary with his girlfriend. One year! Like weren't you sleeping in my bed a month and a half ago?!"
back when we were still changing' for the better. wanting was enough. for me, it was enough. to live for the hope of it all. cancel plans just in case you'd call, and say, "meet me behind the mall."
Noah's jaw had dropped, his eyes wide as he looked between you and Trevor, whom he had a clear view of on the other side of the room.
"That guy fucked you over?"
You nodded sadly, before laughing about it.
"Honestly, I was upset about it but now, seeing him, it's just like he's not the same guy as I thought. He's not really the guy I'm upset about."
"That's real as fuck honestly."
You both laughed at that, you two kept talking for almost thirty more minutes, only breaking your conversation when someone came up for a drink. Your cousin had come over at some point, apologizing for leaving you alone for so long, when you told her you had totally hit it off with the bartender, and she giggled with you before running off when before Noah's smile dropped.
"Not to mention him, but that fuckhead is coming over towards my section."
You rolled your eyes, Trevor didn't make you sad anymore, he just pissed you off. You nodded, taking the drink he'd just made for you from him.
"Hey man, could I get a round of shots?"
He hadn't noticed you, you didn't know if you wanted him to or not. He was literally 5 feet from you, a guy that had seen every inch of you, and he didn't even notice you sitting there. Noah's cheerful demeanor dropped, giving Trevor a look.
"What liquor for how many people?"
"Oh uh um tequila for like 10 people."
"What tequila?"
Noah had known you for an hour and was already hating on your ex-situation like he was his mortal enemy. Trevor told him the brand he wanted and Noah turned to get to work. You kept your eyes on Noah while Trevor looked around aimlessly, until his eyes landed on you.
He was shocked, to say the least. He honestly thought he'd never see you again in his life. He immediately remembered how you told him you were coming to Anaheim for Thanksgiving, and how he told you he couldn't wait to see you then.
so much for summer love,
He liked you, but he also realized that he had a girl at home who still thought they were perfect together. He felt bad when he initially ghosted you, but then he forgot about it within weeks.
He couldn't deny how beautiful you looked, and how seeing you in person brought him right back to July. He wanted to say something, but he didn't know what to say. He had ended the relationship he'd been in just two weeks ago, he felt like seeing you here was a sign. He called your name, two times. The first time you acted like you didn't hear him, then the next you couldn't ignore him.
You turned to him, obviously irritated. You raised your eyebrows at him, a pissed off look on your face.
"What?"
Fuck. Trevor didn't know what to do after that. He stumbled over his words for a few seconds, suddenly nervous.
"Um hey, how are you doing?"
"Are you fucking serious? 'How am I doing?' How can you stand there and ask that after what you did to me?"
"Fuck, let's just talk, okay? I'll explain everything to you baby. Please?"
The name made you want to punch him in the nose. If you were being honest, you wanted to hear whatever explanation he had for it all. But no way in Hell were you gonna forgive him for any of it. You were done, this was just the closure you had needed for all those months.
and saying "us".
"Okay number one, don't fucking call me that; and number two, I will listen to you, but I'm not listening for your benefit, or to forgive you, I'm listening for the closure I need from you. Okay?"
"Yeah fine, sorry. Okay just come on so we can go somewhere more private."
You thought about it for a second, looking towards Noah behind the bar, secretly listening to the whole conversation. You made eye contact with him, mouthing, 'I'll be right back.' To which he nodded.
Trevor caught the interaction, which made his insides twist in anger. But he had no right to be angry, not one part of you belonged to him. You followed Trevor to the hallway by the bathrooms, leaning against the wall while he stood in front of you, far enough away so that you were comfortable.
"So I know what I did was terrible. It was a shit thing to do, but I had a lot of stuff happening at home and-"
"'Stuff' as in a long term girlfriend? Trevor you cheated on someone with me. You acted like you cared about me, ghosted me, then I have to find out I wasn't even the only girl, and that I was the other woman! That makes me a bad person! I felt like such shit for months because of you, and I shouldn't have, because it's all your fault! Not mine, not your girlfriend's, yours."
'cause you weren't mine to lose.
Holy shit. How the fuck did you know about Trevor's girlfriend? He had you blocked on his phone and his girlfriend's.
"Fuck um how do you even- Fuck just I know how bad that sounds okay? But you have to understand that-"
you weren't mine to lose, no.
"I don't think I'm gonna understand anything that comes out of your mouth. Just, leave me alone Trevor, you have had fucked me up enough as is."
Trevor leaned against the wall opposite from you with his head low, defeated. You felt a weight lifted from your shoulders, maybe all the closure you needed was to yell at him good and hard.
"Have a good fucking life, Trevor."
'cause you were never mine, never mine.
With your last goodbye, you sped away from him, before any more bullshit could leave his lips. He was never yours. You understood that now, and honestly it's a good thing he never was, because he was a fucking mess. You hoped he'd find a girl that fixed him, someone that could help him learn peace. But you knew you weren't her, you weren't a girl interested in making a man out of a boy, you wanted a man and that was that.
You walked back to where you sat at the bar, seeing Noah cleaning up the bar top. He looked up and saw you, smiling lightly.
"Hey, are you good?"
You nodded standing next to your seat and smiling back at him.
"So much better, to be honest. I just shouted at him and I think that was my version of closure."
"So you don't think he's coming to get these shots?"
You both laughed as you shook your head at him. You talked for about ten more minutes, before you decided it was time to find your cousin and go home. Noah asked for your number, which you happily gave him. You and your cousin exited the bar, both with smiles, though yours was a bit bigger.
"So you had a good night babe?"
"Very good, actually. That hot ass bartender was like the sweetest guy ever and asked for my number!"
You and your cousin talked the whole drive home as you both described the details of your nights. When you got home, you both slid your sweats back on over your dresses and quietly walked into your grandparent's home, informing your parents of your pre-prepared alibi, saying how you went and saw the Taylor Swift movie, then got dinner.
You both giggled like little girls while you ran up the stairs, then giggled even more ten minutes later in your shared bed when Noah texted you.
Trevor knew that he fully lost you when you walked away from him, but it didn't stop him from unblocking you and scrolling through your instagram.
but do you remember?
4 years later Trevor was single and still playing for the Ducks, he saw a picture from the summer of '23 and you came to his mind. He wondered what you were up to. He wanted to know if you were near Anaheim or anything. He pulled up Instagram, searching your name. What he found shocked him.
When Noah asked you to marry him three years into your relationship it was the easiest decision you had ever made. He was perfect, your dream boy. Then when you married him a year after that, it was easily the best day of your life. Your wedding in the hills of Northern California was absolutely gorgeous, and your honeymoon in Greece was breathtaking.
remember when i pulled up and said, "get in the car!" and then canceled my plans just in case you'd call?
Trevor saw the photos you posted from your wedding two weeks earlier and his jaw dropped, he recognized your husband as the bartender from the night the last time he ever saw you. You looked perfect in your white dress, the caption reading, "Mr & Mrs Moore, 7-29-27." Trevor was truly shocked, he didn't know why though. You were a perfect girl, and it was no surprise someone had lucked out and married you.
back when i was livin' for the hope of it all, for the hope of it all.
He liked the post, accidentally. When you saw the notification, you were confused, but smiled. You hadn't thought of Trevor in years, and now your time with him was all memories. He had made you happy in the moment, and you being sad and moping about him was what led your cousin to taking you to the bar, where you'd met the love of your life, your husband, the man who'd eventually be the father to all of your children.
You were grateful for Trevor Zegras, just for that.
for the hope of it all. for the hope of it all. (for the hope of it all.) (for the hope of it all.)

(more of my theonsa AU in the series-verse) One morning the Queen in the North knocked on the door of her loyal and precious counselor, Lord Greyjoy, the broken kraken -her shadow as they called him. She meant to talk about the last received missives or the new fiscal decisions. But then he took her fingers with his -so warm- ungloved hand and looked at her with true fondness… For the first time in a very long time, she felt absolutely safe and ready to trust a man not to hurt her.

I love that your OC Annie keeps being mistaken for a Blorbo From Your Media, but Siltverses is mistaken for your own story/fic/etc.
Tbf to that anon tho I also thought Siltverses was something you made for a while JDJDDHDH
just to make things more confusing, i have a silt verses version of annie. they're an acolyte of the Unwavering Needlepoint, a self-made false faith god of truth which she created in response to being adopted into and raised by a family of corporate god-worshippers specialising in binding contracts, the wording of which they twisted to favour themselves and/or the client paying them to draft it. the Unwavering Needlepoint demands its worshippers never lie on pain of potential death and/or debilitating emotional, mental and physical agony, inspired by the idiom "cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle in my eye". an oath taken in the name or presence of the Unwavering Needlepoint forces the one who swore it to tell the truth or suffer the consequences. its main symbol is a compass which always points true north.

Targaryen restoration au
Imagine if the following happened.
Rhaella lived through childbirth and got to take care of Dany and Viserys
Elia, Aegon and Rhaenys were able to escape to Dorne before the sacking of King's Landing
Arthur Dayne took a pregnant Lyanna to Starfall to find proper care to deliver Jon. But let's say in this au Rhaegar told Arthur the Prince that was promised must be named Daeron III
Jon Connington is called and returns to serve his lord's children
At some point they all link up and begin to plot to restore House Targaryen and take what is rightfully theirs. With Fire & Blood
With Rhaella, Ser Willem, Elia and Arthur around. Viserys never descends into madness and becomes more well adjusted.
Lyanna survived childbirth. Lyanna could not return home. She's too ashamed after her actions led to the deaths of Rickard and Brandon and she knows if she returns with her son, Robert would kill them. Arthur and Lyanna raised Daeron together. One thing led to another and they fell in love.
With outside forces preventing the crown from finding them(Doran, Varys and Illyrio) the Targaryens are never found.
Dany has a happy childhood and while they move every often, she has happy memories with her mother, brother and cousins.
With Rhaella, Doran, Oberyn Arthur and Jon Connington around, Aegon, Rhaenys, Viserys and Daenerys all grow up well versed into politics. Arthur and Oberyn properly turns Aegon, Daeron, Rhaenys, Dany and Viserys into warriors.
Because of Arthur's presence, he would not allow or tolerate Jorah Mormont.
With the vast wealth of Illyrio and Varys influence, an army of sell swords are at their disposal. They have the Golden Company, Windblown, Second Sons, Unsullied, and Storm Crows
With an alliance with Dorne, Aegon is betrothed to Arianne, House Tyrell are known Targaryen loyalists. Daeron is betrothed to Margaery and Daenerys is betrothed to Willas, The Targaryens could reach out to the Greyjoys and promise revenge and plunder. Viserys is betrothed to Asha.
I don't know if the dragons would factor into this au. Maybe there is a ritual, magic via the red priests/priestesses or something they found that could hatch the dragon eggs. If so the dragons are given to Rhaegar's children because prophecy. Aegon's Dragon will be named Visenya(Drogon) Rhaenys' dragon will be named Meria(Rhaegal) and Daeron's will be named Ghost(Viserion)
The War of the Five Kings turns into the War of Kings & Dragons.
Renly runs back to Stannis after he finds out the Tyrell's true allegiances. The brothers put behind their grievances and stand together.
When Cat goes to treat with Renly, she is surprised that Stannis and Renly stand together. They offer Robb a choice, join us. The Lannisters must be dealt with and then deal with the invading Targaryens.
Battle of the Blackwater ends with the Stark-Baratheon alliance victorious. Robb rescues Sansa and Joffrey is executed. Cersei is executed and Tommen is fostered at Casterly Rock by Tyrion. Tywin falls in battle.
Littlefinger is executed and Varys escapes in time to meet with the Targaryens.
The Targaryens arrive. They are met with Dorne, the Ironborn and the Reach.
All out war.
The Targaryens obviously win. But they are smart. They give their enemies the chance to bend the knee.
Then the Targaryens, Starks, and Baratheons unite their forces and marches North. to face their true enemy.
Aegon VI's small council
Hand of the King:Jon Connington
Grand Maester:Marwyn
Master of Whispers:Varys
Master of Laws:Oberyn Martell
Master of Ships:Mace Tyrell
Lord Commander of the Kingsguard:Arthur Dayne
Meanwhile I can see Euron return and hire a Faceless man to kill Willas Tyrell. Euron tries weasels his way into Dany's good graces. There are two ways we can play this. Dany sicks the Kingsguard to kill him or he slowly begins to corrupt her. Blame Viserys and cause Targaryen infighting. And after Viserys is out of the picture. Euron helps Dany take the throne and cement the Targaryens and the Greyjoys alliance through marriage, let the Long Night kill her cousins and they can rule the Iron Throne together and he has the means to bind the dragons to her will.
In the scenario where Dany stays loyal to her family. Euron is captured and is awaiting his execution. With no dragons to burn him. Dany has him executed by Wildfire. "Dracarys"
Ending 1:Rhaegar's prophecy is true and his children save the realm from the Long Night
Ending 2:Aegon, Rhaenys and Daeron sacrifice themselves to end The Others, while Dany brings peace to the realm
Ending 3:The unholy union of Euron and Dany plunges the world into darkness.

Miguel O' Hara (Across the Spider Verse) - Oneshot
Miguel has had his share of dysfunctional and annoying spider-men and women. So he’s always willing to admit when he meets a dependable one.
Your work ethic was commendable. You’d been recruited by Jessica who raved about how you helped her in a bind apprehending one of the anomalies. You were trained, efficient, ambitious both in the field as well as your personal life as a coach. On paper, you were the perfect worker. The only problem seemed to be…him.
Whenever you were on a mission with all of them, you were hyper-focus. Your attention never strayed until the work was done and the villain was caught. Like most assignments, they reported back to headquarters to log their most recent anomaly. Miguel gave a brief and further expectations. One by one the room would clear out. For a moment you would just stand there. The second you realized that it was just you and him, he prepared for it, the excuse that followed. You’d suddenly become tense and yell..
“I-I have to feed my cat!!”
Just like that you were out the door faster than a bullet.
As far as he knew, you didn’t have a cat. Not that he would call you on it.
Yes, you were an exceptional worker. You just apparently detested him.
“What did you do to her?” Lyla's judgmental tone called.
“I didn’t do anything.” Miguel growled. He was just as puzzled as her. It’s true that he’s not the most friendly person, but he was that way with everyone. Most of them had just gotten used to it. He couldn't recall ever yelling at you. You hadn’t even done anything that even warranted a lecture from him. He racked his brain for an explanation but all he came up with was the many excuses you’d presented to escape his presence.
Like,
“I-I forgot my laundry in the machine!”
“M-My goldfish is sick!”
“I-I left the stove on!”
“I-I have to go!!”
The crease in his brow deepened. Because he felt like it was just a matter of time before you decided that you didn’t want to work for him anymore. It’s not like he had a scarcity of spider people, but he valued your skills. Especially the fact that he didn’t have to yell behind you like a child. It was nice to have an adult who actually acted like one.
Unlike Parker.
“Hey Miguel!!”
Speak of the devil.
Peter walked in with Mayday in tow who immediately jumped onto Miguel’s shoulders the second she was within reach. His scowl stayed planted, even when she started messing with his cheeks, her giggles following.
“Heh, he’s not so scary right Mayday.”
She nodded with a tooth grin and Miguel just turned back to the platform.
“If I ignore him he’ll go away.”
One could hope.
The week proceeded and he’d gotten back to his analysis, scanning through any more potential threats. Lyla was doing her own little research, hovering over his shoulder as he flipped back and forth through reports and unusual activity. The door opening behind him alerted that his crew had arrived.
“We have a new sighting on Earth 234.”
Miguel turned.
Gwen, Hobie, You and Jessica.
He felt comfortable with the crew.
“I’ll be coming with you on this one. Lyla said there might be two this time.”
“Sounds like a challenge.” Gwen cheered. Hobie just leaned against the wall.
Miguel closed the current tab, eyes moving to his watch as he typed in the necessary coordinates to head out. They all filed in the second it was present, ready for anything. Miguel’s instructions had been to split up into groups.
“(Y/N), you’re with me. Gwen, Hobie, head to the South. Jessica, North.”
Everyone nodded, taking off in their instructed directions. Your eyes were fixated ahead as you jumped from building to building right beside Miguel.
“How bad is the damage so far?” You questioned.
“The third floor of a building was struck. We’ll need to prepare for a collapse.”
“Alright.”
You’d already shifted into battle mode. Miguel couldn’t help but steal a glance. As far as he could see, there was no issue. It was still eating at him. He decided at that moment that after this trip he needed to confront you. Figure out the problem and solve it.
The screams ahead pulled his focus.
“(Y/N).”
“On it!”
You swung around the building, spotting what looked like a mutant lizard. It hissed the second it saw you and you fired a kick, knocking it right off its feet and harshly against the pavement. You landed easily in front of it and Miguel took the opportunity to grab the woman who’d been cornered by the beast. He made his way over to the police vehicle, landing and placing her on her feet. She looked up, grateful and still a bit shaken as an officer guided her away.
“It’s good to see you again.” The Chief called.
Miguel nodded, turning back when he saw you tying the lizard up.
“Is it just one?”
The Chief nods.
“As far as we saw. But you need to be careful. He had some kind of device. My officers disabled it, but he’d already released some kind of suction. It took a few items into the air. We’re still getting some falling objects. We’ve blocked off this part of the city. There was activity in the North and South part of town.”
Miguel felt better knowing he’d already sent reinforcements. The others could handle that. He glanced over when he saw a portal close at your side. You were next to him in seconds.
“Peter just took in our lizard guy, but I just barely dodged getting hit by a metal pole.”
He saw said pole standing upright, wedged into the concrete.
“Get all your men to a secure area, we’ll handle this.”
“You got it, we’ll shelter at the center.”
He gestured to the officers, yelling for them to fall back. Miguel turned back to you once they cleared the area.
For the next half hour, you and Miguel spent it using your webs to catch any fallen debris that was present. Jessica, Gwen and Hobie had returned some time after.
“All clear boss!” Gwen saluted.
Miguel seemed content with the result. There were no casualties to speak of and the capture of the latest anomaly had gone by very smoothly. He felt confident to call it a day. He turned to do just that, you were not much further behind him. Gwen and the others had already started walking away when he gave the word. Jessica opened a portal and they were about to step in when they all seemed to flinch, turning to him.
“Watch out!!”
Miguel was confused about the cause for their alarm. When he looked up, the car that was falling bumper first confirmed their panic. He didn’t have a chance to even brace for impact. He didn’t have to, because two thick streams of web stuck to either end of the car as you forced it in your direction. You grabbed it when it was within reach, holding the weight. They all stared, a bit relieved as you slowly placed the vehicle to the floor.
The metal creaked at the dropped weight, and you straightened. Gwen rushed over to you with a big smile.
“That was awesome!!”
You returned her smile. Hobie trailed over with a smirk of his own.
“Good catch.”
You flushed, rubbing the back of your head.
“I-It was nothing.”
They continued to flock to you and Miguel simply stared. You’d quite literally saved him from possibly a week’s worth of pain. Lyla popped up with a hum.
“I guess she doesn’t completely hate you. She could have just let it squash you like a bug.”
“Thank you for the imagery.”
He was careful to do an additional scan before they finally left that earth. As he stepped into the lab, he did his usual debrief. With a few words exchanged, the room began to clear. You waited attentively for him to give you any additional comments. With your mask removed you just looked curious. But the minute you took in the lack of other personnel, he saw the change on your face and he could already predict an excuse coming.
“I-I need to water my plants!!”
You tried to make a dash for it, but he jumped from the platform, landed right in front of you. You backed away from the door, eyes a bit shaky. Hand clutching your mask.
“I think we need to have a word.”
“D-Did I do something wrong?”
He shook his head.
“Your work is exceptional. You're a great help to the team.”
Lyla appeared with a nod of confirmation.
“T-Then what’s the problem?”
You were shifting in your spot and Miguel tracked each action, hoping that by some miracle he could figure out why you were now anxious when you’d caught a car not even twenty minutes earlier without so much as a sweat.
“Do you have a problem working with me?”
If that was the case he could easily put you in a different area where your meetings would be limited. It would be a bit discouraging to lose you on his main team, but it was better than you leaving completely. He waited patiently for you to speak, but your cheeks turned red and you just started fidgeting with the mask.
“I-I don’t have a problem working with you..”
It was said so softly and you refused to look directly at him. Now he was even more perplexed. Lyla tilted her head, and after a second she cooed.
“Oh! How cute!”
She was gushing, and he turned, a little annoyed that Lyla seemed to figure it out when he was still lost.
“What is it?” He growled, impatient.
“She has a crush on you!”
Lyla said it like it was the most obvious thing in the world. The color brightened on your cheeks and Miguel looked at you for some kind of denial, but when you looked up at him, his eyes widened. Your gaze held such an innocent adoration that almost made him think he was hallucinating. He’d never really seen you look at him with anything other than respect and professionalism. Your feelings were written all over your face now and he wondered how he could have missed it. After a few moments it finally became too much. You closed your eyes.
“I-I should go!!”
You ran around his body, out the door.
Miguel was left standing there in a state of shock.

Elizabeth Gaskell - Mary Barton, North and South, and Wives and Daughters
Over the past year I’ve read Elizabeth Gaskell’s Mary Barton, North and South, and Wives and Daughters, and I wanted to try to pull together some of my thoughts about these books and how they relate to each other.
Elizabeth Gaskell was a rough contemporary of the Brontës (and a friend and biographer of Charlotte Brontë), but outlived them all. These three novels were published in 1848, 1855, and 1866 respectively; Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre were published in 1847.
The three novels follow, in my opinion, a rough trajectory of decreasing radicalism, but (in some respects) increasing skill as a writer. Mary Barton is the most intensely socially conscious, and in my opinion Gaskell does a better job of writing a engaging novel on the behalf of the working class than Dickens often does - the writing is tighter and more engaging, and the working-class characters more nuanced and textured. (For context, all the Dickens I’ve read is A Christmas Carol, A Tale of Two Cities, Oliver Twist, and Great Expectations.) The book is scattered throughout with caveats - for example, that factory-owners feasting while workers starve may not be a fact, but that it is something workers can understandably feel to be true - that show how aware Gaskell was that it would be controversial. It was written before - but published during - the Revolutions of 1848 in Europe, and Gaskell even goes so far as the reference the revolutions in her preface to the book:
“To myself the idea which I have formed of the state of feeling among too many of the factory-people in Manchester, and which I endeavoured to represent in this tale (completed above a year ago), has received some confirmation from the events which have so recently occurred among a similar class on the Continent.
OCTOBER, 1848
(Charlotte Brontë appears to have been affected by the revolutions of 1848 in a very different way; her novel Shirley, published in 1849, is fairly strongly anti-worker and pro-factory-owner, portraying anyone who protests against the treatment of workers as a drunk or a troublemaker.)
While it has its meldoramatic elements, Mary Barton is on the whole a sympathetic depiction of a Manchester working-class family and their friends. In the opening chapters, some of the arguments of conservatives are dealt with deftly rather than by direct assault. The depiction of the two central families in comparatively better times shows what ‘luxuries’ were to working-class people - some slices of ham, a bit of butter, a bit of sugar, a dinner-party between friends, a handful of pretty objects around the house - in a way that undermines conservative claims that poverty was due to overspending in good times rather than saving for bad. There’s a varied cast of characters - some more idealized or archetypal in typical Victorian style, but most of them three-dimensional, human, and engaging. (Some of them - including both developed ones and archetypal ones - made me wonder if Gaskell ever read Les Misérables, and if so what she thought of it.)
This makes some elements of North and South frustrating by comparison. While working-class women in Mary Barton (at least some of them) are living, breathing people, the sole working-class woman in North and South is a Victorian archetype, a chronically ill girl who speaks in Bible verses and dies to prompt the redemption arcs of other characters. It’s evident that Gaskell got blowback for Mary Barton and was pressured to provide a more ‘balanced’ perspective in North and South - it’s telling that being ‘balanced’ meant reducing the humanity and complexity of working-class characters.
I will be blunt: I do not like John Thornton. He talks too much like a Calgary oilman resenting big government for daring to impose basic environmental and working standards. He makes a template of conservative arguments that endure to this day - that he’s a self-made-man and any working-class person could do what he did, if they had the grit and gumption. He’d rather go bankrupt than allow his workers to unionize. And he does not undergo a ‘redemption arc’ or change of heart on this - rather, the worker who supports unionization undergoes a ‘redemption arc’ to realize that unions are bad! What John Thornton does learn is that 1) using inexperienced imported scab workers rather than experienced and knowledgeable workers gets you a crappy product and 2) he can talk to his workers and plan out some basic reforms to improve their lives a little.
That said, one major improvement in North and South is that the relationship between Margaret Hale and John Thornton is much better written than the relationship of the title character in Mary Barton. Mary’s involves her abruptly (and unconvincingly) realizing she’s in love with a man who has been pursuing her throughout the book and whom she has been doing her utmost to discourage, and has never shown any interest in. Margaret and John’s is developed over time and with more complexity, and in a way that is far more compelling and convincing - probably what makes North and South more popular than the others.
Wives and Daughters is another sort of book entirely - gentler and less melodramatic (and with fewer major character deaths - though there’s a notable death toll among side characters), set in the countryside and in the past, and more a social comedy/dramedy with a side of romance. The class commentary as regards the working class is almost gone - the main characters are a combi ation of middle-class people and lower-level gentry. It is, in a sense, more Austenian in its gentle satire of the foibles of its cast of characters, interspersed with some more dramatic moments; or more like some of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s books that combine romance with poking gentle fun at the various characters of small-town life. But the characters are more nuanced and less archetypal, and the moral lessons mostly less pointed, than in the two previous books, and the main character’s challenges and struggles are of a more grounded nature. (There’s a side character, Cynthia, who particularly interests me and whom I might do a separate post on.) You can see the improvement in Gaskell’s writing; you can also see that she’s stepped away from politics. (The romance isn’t as good as North and South though.) The main theme that could be considered political is that good, solid, practical knowledge, hard work, courage, and honesty are preferable to any amount of upper-class ‘refinement’. The worst crime any major character commits is to be shallow and annoying.
Here’s one interesting case of a contrast between Wives and Daughters and Gaskell’s earlier work. In Mary Barton, Mary is pursued by - and actively interested in - a factory-owner’s son, a man outside of her own social class, and this is portrayed as a serious moral fault that precipitates some of the book’s major events. In Wives and Daughters, there is a much more socially unequal marriage between two side characters, and the lower-class woman is not treated as bad or faulty for it, but the plot gets into some of the complications of the match (the husband is afraid of disinheritance if he reveals the marriage to his father, and in that case would have no ability to support his wife abd child due to being gentry with no useful skills; the husband dies; there’s some personality and culture clash between the wife and his family in the aftermath, but ultimately it works out). In the more melodramatic Mary Barton, a woman accepting attentions from a mich higher-ranking man is a major issue of moral character; in the more grounded Wives and Daughters, it’s a matter of practical challenges entailed by the match.
(Gaskell died before finishing Wives and Daughters, but it’s close enough to finished that you can easily see the briad strokes of how everything’s going to wrap up.)
I’d recommend all the of the books; they’re all worth reading if you like 1800s literature. Though, being from the 1800s, they do all have some moments and sentiments that are jarring to the 21st-century reader.

The Magnus Archives spoilers but I keep thinking about Jon and Martin landing in the ISAT universe when the fears arrive but like. Right after post loops. So it ends up like:
1) They save these two weirdly accented guys (where one of them clearly has been stabbed holy shit) only to possibly be immediately told that they just got a bunch of evil gods in their world (oops)
2) Jon's eyes absolutely have color when Knowing things or using Eye powers in general.
3) The loops 100% count as a statement and Jon is purposely trying not to be alone with Siffrin so he doesn't munch on their trauma
4) Triple ace solidarity ruined by the knowledge their world is doomed to be plagued by fear gods U.U
5) Martin: "Jon did the fears turn this world black and white" Bonnie:"what's black and white?" Martin: "what" Bonnie: "what" Isabeau: "No but seriously what's black and white." Odile: "I think they're implying that colors exist in their world." Jon: "I see. Colors are apparently unnatural to this world." Martin: "Like that one Lovecraft story?" Jon: "what". Martin: "You know colors beyond our comprehension and what not?" Jon: "I- I suppose??" Bonnie: "Hey! Could this Lovecraft guy be from our world?" Mirabelle: "Wait no. These two just arrived here??? Unless time messed up too???" Jon: "Trust me you do not want to claim him."
6.a) Jon looks at least 10 years if not older than he actually is. He also probably can get along better with Odile anyway. Plus with different universes as backgrounds, the lack of general knowledge around his age wouldn't be obvious. Cue the moment where Jon is asked how old he is and the absolute AWKWARD silence when it's clear that both Jon and Martin are basically Siffrin's age, give or take a few years.
6.b) Bonnie: "Is 30 years old different in your universe? Are you about to die?" Jon: "From embarrassment, perhaps."
7) General discussion/argument/existential dread regarding the Fears and how they interact with this world. Honestly the gang may never forgive Martin and Jon for doing this to them. Even if they do everything they can to help them. They get more sympathy once they find out about the Eyepocalypse and the absolute hell Jon in particular went through. Doesn't mean they have to like it.
8) Siffrin finding out about Jon's knowing powers and asking him if he can Know the name of the island in the North. Jon tries. Then he starts screaming. His eyes are red. Siffrin doesn't ask again.
9.a) The horror and dread knowing that not only is their mission not done. It can't be ever again. And this time, especially if Jon and Martin's story is true... well, the King wasn't easy, but at least he was a person. You can't exactly fight a distorted universe. Their happily ever destroyed forever.
9.b) I could see a physical confrontation happening... if Jon didn't look so absolutely devastated. If he didn't say "do what you will with me, but please leave Martin alone" and Martin yelling at him for being a self-sacrifical idiot. It just sucks so much all around. But it would have been easier if Jon and Martin were bad people. But they're not. Just... broken people doing their best in a broken world. And to do their best to save their own world, the family has to work with them.
9.c) Jon and Siffrin are also idiots with martyr complexes that refuse to talk about their feelings solidarity. Shame that Jon can't help but want to eat Siffrin's trauma cause they probably have a lot to talk about.
10) Funnier note, the slow realization that Jon and Martin in an rpg world. Martin figures it out first and Jon is just. Flabbergasted. Especially when they find out the magic system is rock paper scissors.
11) "rock paper scissors transcends the multi-verse. Neat!" (Later Martin asks Jon if gun is secretly a fourth hand symbol. He does not know and will not Know. He refuses).
12) I think at one point they're gonna have to deal with the fact that statements don't exist in this world. Either Jon gets too close to taking Siffrin's statement or he's going to tell Martin the facts: there is very little way Jon can survive without being a predator. He is an avatar that needs something to fuel his existence. He doesn't want to hurt anyone else ever again. Unless Siffrin wants to write their statement down or someone else does... even then there's no guarantee it's going to be enough.
13) Perhaps wish-craft can save Jon. Maybe. Maybe not. But. The party tells them about wish-craft anyway. It's the one hope they have to fight against this new horror. Maybe it can help Jon too to get out. (Everyone deserves that chance).
I have no fic with this, my fixations are simply crossing over briefly. Hope you enjoyed the ramblings.
