i made this in high school for an assignment. i finally got around to writing down everything about it. you basically made an original album cover based on a song or album you like. i loved this because i love putting references in my art. so i added a bunch of references from other music, manga and movies, just pretty small and hidden.

lyrics references for parts of the drawing:

"I'll drown my beliefs

To have your babies

I'll dress like your niece

And wash your swollen feet"

i used 1st and 4th line of the first verse and combined them with the later verse

Your crazy kitten smile"

for the hands with a rosary holding up the hanging person. with the 3rd line i used a reference to the movie, "As You Are" when the main character dresses as a women for the guy he likes since he says, "i wish you were a girl," i saw similarities in both lines.

for the setting since the song mentions an "haunted attic," i took the chance to use the Hereditary treehouse scene and copied some detail from the ending ritual, like the candles. i used the ritual details because of the lyrics

that ritual was the cult trying to get their leader/"god" back, which fits plus i thought it would look good. (even though its not an attic they had the same vibe for me and i forgot while picking it out that it was a treehouse lol) i used the shape of the treehouse for a cool border and crosshatching as the background. the walls felt really empty so i decided to add the posters and other decorations.

Under the hands i drew a "moss" rug, on the left wall the posters are from Nirvana - inferno (another reference to "As You Are), a Radiohead poster, a panel from Girl on the Shore by Inio Asano, and 4 vinyls: Weezer - Blue Album, MCR - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, Phoebe Bridgers- Stranger in the Alps, and Red Hot Chili Peppers - I'm with you. on the right wall the posters are from Smashing Pumpkins, another Girl on the Shore panel, a panel from Goodnight PunPun by Inio Asano, a picture of boobs, and a random piece of art i had on my phone.
