Art dump time again! I’ve been doing a mix of traditional and digital lately, because digital is randomly very frustrating. Oh well, it happens.

1st and 2nd photos are rough drafts for some ideas I’m playing with

The others were the responses to me asking for suggestions in a server because coming up with ideas is hard sometimes.

Blaze Powerchord is Haze Flowerchord now! He's a competitive whistler instead of an air guitarist! He's a guru troll, the best whistler in the village and everyone loves him :]

He's the Creek of the Lunch Rush before his betrayal, essentially. (Meaning he's well-liked and considered attractive!)

The theme of day 14 of Genreuary is Isekai, which I found out that Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Narnia, and the Wonderful Wizard of Oz are the early examples of the Isekai genre. Isekai is a subgenre of fantasy where a character is transported to a new world. 

Here’s the trolls characters, plus my OCs doing Symphonia Theater’s rendition of The Wiz, the retelling of L. Frank Baum's children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in the context of contemporary African-American culture. It was made into a movie in 1978 by Universal Studios and Motown Productions starring Diana Ross, Nipsey Russell, Ted Ross, Mabel King, Theresa Merritt, Thelma Carpenter, Lena Horne and Richard Pryor, introducing Michael Jackson, and it was also made into a 2015 live television adaptation by NBC on December 3, 2015 and got a broadway revival in 2024.

In the production, CJ Suki, who already became an adolescent alongside Priscilla and Keith, takes on the role as Dorothy Gale, a young orphan from Brooklyn, New York who went to live in Kansas with Uncle Henry Gale (played by Demo) and his pregnant wife, Aunt Emily “Em” Gale (played by DJ Suki). Dorothy couldn’t get over the pain and loss of her parents, who died in a car accident and had a hard time fitting in Kansas. A tornado whisked her and her dog, Toto (played by Mr. Dinkles) to the mysterious land of Oz, where her house crushed Evamean, the Wicked Witch of the West, which freed the enslaved Munchkins and met the optimistic Addaperle, the Good Witch of the North (played by my OC, Twilight) who tells her to go see the Wiz (played by Lownote Jones), a wizard who can help her get back home while obtaining the silver shoes. As Dorothy goes in search of the Wiz, she's joined by the Scarecrow (played by Clay), who wanted brains, the Tin Man (played by Synth), who wanted a heart because he is a failed creation of Evamean that was abandoned for being a “failure”, and the Cowardly Lion (played by Blaze Powerchord), who wishes for courage. As they go on adventures together, they soon learn about themselves more than what they wished for while Dorothy overcomes her grief and learns to move on from her parents’ death.

Oz itself in the production is based on the different parts of Africa with vernacular architecture, vibrant colors, and bold patterns. The land of the East has avian imagery with the Munchkins’ blue costumes having wing details and feather work while the architecture is based on the traditional bamboo houses and ancient cities in Ethiopia like Gondar, while the yellow land of the West, which is ruled by Evilene, the Wicked Witch of the West, has crocodile, hippo, fish, dolphin, whale, and sea turtle imagery, which were actually hidden with hyena imagery (since the wicked witch herself hates water), the Winkies wear pearl and coral jewelry with water lily flowers and they add scale patterns on their clothes, which were hidden in jumpsuits and hooded cloaks, which were chained until they remove them after Dorothy defeats Evilene by throwing a bucket of water, and the architecture has west African and Afro-Caribbean influence since I imagined the western part of Oz would be a seaside region. I imagined the purple colored Gilikin region, which is protected and ruled by Addaperle has domed and cylindrical, or rectangular architecture with antelope, elephant, rhinoceros, and other land animals with its fashion being embellished with flowers and vines, and it has a school that is known for training witches and wizards alike, while for the Quadling Region, which is ruled by Glinda, the Good Witch of the South (played by Twilight’s twin sister, Aurora) who is also its protector, has southern African influence in its architecture and the red fashion of the Quadlings with lion, and wild cat imagery that were found in Africa. I also thought of the land of Oz in The Wiz would have ancient Egyptian designs all around it, since it’s the first civilization in the continent, and it can be seen in the good witches’ fashion and the different places in Oz, especially in the Emerald City, which would have a cyberpunk Afro futuristic aesthetic.

This one took me long to finish this but it was worth it.

PopTrolls X Rock Trolls Fusion - Spruce Blaze

Completely forgot to follow up to this post but HERE WE GO !!!

Also buckle up this post is long bc if there's one thing I will not do it is make brief post. Also I have a lot of opinions on this.

First off I have to put the one that's been on my mind the most: I think Velvet and Veneer would get on great with Electra but specifically two different versions of him. Velvet would vibe with pre-2018 rehaul Electra and Veneer would lean closer to post-2018 rehaul Electra. Both versions are major huffy puffy rich divas who don't like things not going their way, but post-2018 holds a slightly more mellow tone to him while still being just as much of an antag as his colorful counterpart, which I thing matches Velvet and Veneer pretty well. Idk if anyone else has noticed but Velvet has brighter and more saturated eyeshadow than Veneer in their final fits, at least it looks that way to me. Second I have to mention one that's stuck to me hardcore and that's Poppy and Pearl but SPECIFICALLY post-2018 Pearl. Any possible starlight express fans seeing this post might think pre-2018 would be more sensible bc they're both pink but the thing is they have major personality contrasts. I think that post-2018 Pearl would get on better with Poppy because she has a younger and more peppier feel to her than her counterpart does, what she lacks in color she makes up for in being So Incredibly Confused all the time and honestly she just radiates Poppy to me far more than pre-2018, so yeah I think post-2018 Pearl would be good friends with Poppy. Hell great friends even. Though I ALSO think that Poppy would get along great with Rusty because he's a very excitable character and he has the EXACT determination and drive to succeed that Poppy has, the biggest difference between them though is that Rusty is a lot quicker to give up, he's got support but where Poppy has an entire kingdom at her back Rusty only had a handful of people and only two of them were complete steady support (I'm not knocking the Rockies bc their advice to him was genuine but hey read the room he knows the system sucks). Though on that note I think Rusty could get along good with Branch too, probably a tad bit closer with Poppy but they'd both be his pals in my eyes.

Next up, I really do believe that both Greaseball and Flat-Top would get along with ALL of the rock trolls. But like specifically the rock trolls. Genuinely. Flat-Top would be more receptive to all of them while Greaseball would be less inclined to get personal with a lot of them and would chill better with the more titular guys like Barb. Flat-Top is just generally very punk and wild while Greaseball is very self-confident. I don't know how well Val and Flats would get on but I do believe he and Riff might get long better than he would any of the others. Greaseball would however get along best with Barb and mostly tolerate the others, maybe he'd enjoy Demo's company, but DEFINITELY not Blaze Powerchord. GB and Electra's rivalry is canon proof that diesel CANNOT STAND people as overconfident as he is.

^^^ pictured Barb and GB being silly because Greaseball's a self-absorbed dude and Barb is aggressive but what they have in common is they're actually goobers and few people truly see this. This is also part of why I think they'd be friends.

Anyway that's all I have for now it's like almost 11:50pm but I hope you see my vision and I hope I can convince people of each fandom to take a peek at the other bc as a trolls and starlight express fan I think these fandoms should have way more overlap, they're both goofy silly pieces of media that get looked down upon by the people outside of them for being fun and whimsical. Solidarity and all that.

Here are the rockers in their monster AU looks. Even though only Barb gets a makeover, not much was changed for their outfits but I like how hard rock fashion matches the AU itself.

Barb is also a werewolf like Poppy and Branch, but she has more wolf-like traits. As the new alpha of her pack, Barb is a natural-born leader and she likes to rock with all the monsters but she is ruthless and brutal when hunting humans and prey with her pack. Unlike the pop trolls as werewolves, who exhibit dog-like traits such as their love to chase their tails, play fetch, carry things in their mouths, panting when excited, or scratching themselves in public, the hard rockers as werewolves are more vicious and territorial. Despite her aggressive demeanor, Barb cares for anyone close to her, especially her father, Thrash, who used to be an alpha but retired due to his ailing condition. She tends to be competitive with other werewolf packs, including Poppy's, with whom she later becomes friends but she is also besties with Rose, who gave her Debbie, a white-winged vampire bat as a pet. When it comes to her kill, Barb is choosy about what type of meat and body parts she would devour but her favorite is slurping the bowels of her prey like spaghetti. She is also enamored with her girlfriend Viva, who is Poppy's younger twin and a fellow werewolf.

Riff is all stripes and all wildcat because he is a weretiger. Being Barb's right claw, Riff is laid-back but also ready to prowl his way to Barb's aid and do what he's told. He displays a mischievous side by toying with his prey until he rips them into pieces with his retractable claws and sharp teeth, though he prefers to aim for the spleen. Though he supports and is loyal to his alpha, Riff can question her strategies, especially if her plans are direct attacks. As a weretiger, he has tiger physiology and superhuman condition but what makes him lethal is his speed swimming and the ability to mimic the sounds of his prey using his voice.

Carol as a skeleton is all bones but she has a big heart and a big attitude, since she was one of Barb's few friends before Poppy and Rose came along. Despite her deadpan expression and laidback and lazy demeanor, Carol is fiercely enthusiastic when it comes to rocking out with her friends and bandmates alike. Like all skeletons, she can feel a perception that can happen when her bones rattle, which is useful to Barb because she can sense if prey is near. Carol can also make things out of bones to help her friends, from tools to weapons, which is also an advantage because Barb would supply her bones from her victims or prey for her to use.

Literally stony, Sid Fret is a gargoyle who functions as the muscle of the group. With his superhuman strength and flight, Sid Fret is always there to lend Barb a helping claw, but despite his brawns, Sid is too heavy so he might sink when he goes into the deep waters and he often gets help from Riff when crossing them or when they hide in bodies of water. The only deep part that he can sink into is love, because he had a lot of dates.

Demo is an odd one out among his fellow beast rockers because he comes off as more soft in comparison to other Rock Trolls, especially Val. He enjoys the more boring things that other monsters find uninteresting such as preparations for concerts, and he knows how his rockers think and feel. He isn't always on the spot with this and does make mistakes. He is also shown to possess a liking for Classical culture, a trait he shares with his adoptive father, the Phantom of the Opera. He has a passion for playing Classical guitar and even adopting some of the Classical Trolls' mannerisms, like their formal speech and extending the pinky finger while drinking, which made his adoptive parents proud of him. When he objects to something, he often says "nay" instead of "no", and overall uses a broader vocabulary range than most other rockers. He often uses uncommon English words alongside common ones in sentences as a result, which this him sound a bit more sophisticated than the rest of his peers. Like all rockers, he believes in terms of epicness, though he often thinks too big. His "zing" is DJ Suki, whose sonic scream and banshee powers match his intangibility, vocal powers, and permeation. He is often seen sporting a blue lightning bolt across his face and left eye, which turned out to be his birthmark.

As a runt of the wrappings, Blaze Powerchord stands out among his own kind. While the mummies love showing off their fabulous riches and living glamorously, Blaze prefers to rock out and live loud and proud as a "mouth guitarist", musician, singer, and entertainer. He started out as obnoxious, disruptive, and rude due to him constantly wanting to "please his fans", interrupting others in an attempt to grab attention. This is a result of the passion he has for his talent, his lack of awareness about his obnoxiousness, and his self-ego. Once beaten by his "zing", another mummy named Minuet Sonata, he agreed to tone down his actions and became more self-aware of those around him. Like his kind, he cares deeply about his own image and has difficulty expressing his sorrows at seeing himself forgotten. He was shown to be a bad liar towards his former bandmates Rose and Romper and kept giving Poppy and Minuet issues related to his lies without a big plan ahead of this sort of thing, unable to take cues from others in regards to adaptation of said lies.

A stone-cold snake charmer, Petra is a laid-back gorgon and a rock purist but her intentions are good and she means well, displaying concern for those she cares about, especially her best friend Val. Like her peers, Petra is guarded and doesn't rush to make friends, though she can respect other monsters and be reasoned with. When fighting rogues, evil humans, or monster hunters, she is very protective of them and fights her enemies ruthlessly by using her petrifying gaze to turn anyone into stone with just one look, a trait she shares with gorgons, aside from the snake hairs, with whom she talks to when asking for advice, or her ability to communicate with snakes. She mostly wears shades to shield her eyes from turning anyone to stone but gargoyles like Sid Fret are immune to her petrifying gaze.

Rose and Romper are Blaze Powerchord's former bandmates,whom he had a falling out over their creative differences. Blaze wanted to call their band "Blaze and the Other Guys". However, Blaze ended up being filled with regret and jealously when they succeeded and he failed following their split. For a long time, he held back his feelings about their success after he left for the lands surrounding Nevermore Castle and . They finally made amends when with help from Minuet and Poppy, Blaze finally told them how he felt about being left behind. The trio are now on good terms as a result of the escapade. Rose is a werecat while Romper is a boogeymonster, which means he can manipulate shadows and dreams, traits that are useful when haunting evil humans with nightmares, give the innocent dreams, and sneak around unnoticed.
