Here it is! Part three! Omg, I'm so excited for this!
Let's begin!
Ok, so, I know a lot of people say that Poppy hasn't changed a lot in the third movie but let me stop you right there!
Here's our girl, our happy-go-lucky queen cutely dressed and if I may, waiting for her boyfriend to compliment her looks like he always does
But then she notices something is wrong
You can see in the third pic, she was thinking how to approach the matter, because this, after all, is her boyfriend's old home, where he used to live with his grandmother. And in the fourth pic, her brows are even more furrowed
And here, oh my gosh this scene:
Can we look at Poppy, PLEASE?!
She's paying her full attention to Branch. She wants him to talk, to open up to her. HER EYES ARE FILLED WITH HOPE SHE'S ENCOURAGING HIM TO TALK TO HER
Skip, skip, skip, skiiiiiip, annnndddd here:
"I'm not hearing no!"
Branch doesn't look sad, he doesn't look mad, he doesn't look scared, he doesn't look uncomfortable, and most importantly, he doesn't look forced
True, Poppy was all "We are so in!", but unlike in Twt, she actually listened to Branch when he wanted to talk to her, and Branch actually talked when something he didn't like was going on. Do you even see how much they've grown?
Now, Poppy knows how hard life is without a sibling, and she doesn't want her boyfriend to just take his family for granted. Her heart was in the right place, people
And Branch didn't say no! He didn't refuse! They talked, different opinions and different thoughts and different mindsets, yet they worked things out
And yeah, I know Branch was probably thinking 'what have I gotten myself into' in this scene
But the entire movie was just Branch having issues and dealing with them. And Poppy was trying to help him. Also, in case you haven't noticed, things do not work out the way Poppy has imagined, just like in Twt, but the difference? Later, she didn't leave Branch alone to go save Floyd, she went with him. Now, I hear you saying: she went because Branch didn't say anything to her, while they fought in Twt, that's why she left him
Wrong!
Let me remind you that Branch lied to her, kept things from her, kept his feelings from her, didn't open up, and literally was being sarcastic and you can see she was hurt in this scene
And they're in a new relationship which Branch is already beginning with hiding stuff, yet she put all that behind because -I'm not gonna say boyfriend - the man she loved, needed her. So, yeah. She's changed
Takes a deep breath
Now, let's move on, shall we?
I just wanted to point out how Poppy was looking at Branch when he was trying to yet again hide his feelings. She knows what's up
Moving on to this scene:
The way she's telling them to include Branch? The pure happiness and excitement on her face for him! PLEASE?! May I remind you that SHE WASN'T SINGING WITH THEM BUT WAS THIS HAPPY FOR BRANCH?!
Now, I've already talked about the scenes I'm going to talk about now in the analysis posts, but I'm gonna copy-paste them here because I don't want you people going to those posts, then return to this one and lose your focus and vibe
You have Branch, whose brothers' return has reopened scars he's been trying to close for so long, and has just found out his brother is being held captive, and is now in a rescue mission to save him and sing the perfect family harmony, the same thing that they failed miserably at the last time so they walked out and never talked to each other again, comforting his girlfriend. Poppy needed time, needed him, and he was ready to give her all the time she needed and stay with her. Proof? He didn't move until she has left first, ensuring she was ready to leave
Then we have Poppy, who has just found out her boyfriend has been hiding secrets from her, and watched as he reluctantly agreed to reunite with his brothers, and discovered she had a sister that she knew n o t h i n g about, and that this sister was so afraid to leave her safe place and go with her, deciding to go help Branch save his brother. She took one last glance at the walls separating her from Viva, then walked towards Rhonda, silently signaling she was ready to leave.
They were both dealing with stuff, needed time to open up/stay, yet each one thought of the other
Then this scene was SOMETHING ELSE-
"Where are you going?"
"To save Floyd, alone. I didn't need them growing up and I don't need them now." He didn't even look back when he said, "What are you doing?"
And the look of disbelief on her face. "What do you mean? I'm coming with you!"
He literally gave her a blind eye, didn't look at her. He didn't want to get weak. "Why bother? Aren't you gonna leave me eventually anyway?" He was certain. He didn't wait for any reassurances because he didn't want to hear any and live a lie again. "Everyone else does."
But despite that, Poppy did NOT give up on him
"I have been by your side from the moment we've met, and you've been by mine. Let's give each other some credit here."
'and you've been by mine' this wasn't about her, but about THEM. This line has so much depth and meaning for their relationship
"You're right, I'm sorry. Thank you."
He started with the apology because he knew what he just said was WRONG. He knew she wasn't leaving, they've always been there for each other. And I don't think he thanked her for coming, maybe for reminding him? I mean, that's Branch we're talking about, he would surely have thoughts and insecurities about people leaving him
But Poppy's always there to remind him that she's always there
His mission is her mission. She was willingly going for an insane rescue mission, and face people BRANCH HIMSELF didn't know anything about, all the while trying to deal with the separation between her and Viva. But she was going with him. Because that's just them
All they wanted was for the other to be happy
And in the end? It worked out just fine
So, to sum up this post, and the previous two: no, Branch isn't perfect like we claim, nor Poppy is, too. Hiding things? Sure, that happens. Lying? Happens as well. Disagreements? Oh, yeah, lots of those. But in the end of the day? They work things out
Branch is perfect for Poppy, and Poppy is perfect for Branch
That's just love, and it doesn't have to be perfect all the time
Sooooo, that's it? Omg that was fuuuun!
Anyway, as usual, feel free to add or comment on anything!

đ°ď¸ Timeline Talk
Okay, I just discovered the Brozone Website (it took me a while, whoops.) and in John Dory's blog update, on February 19, 1999, they performed in Pop Village.
Which doesn't make sense to me since it's around January that Branch could've been born according to Floyd's blog update.
The first movie had said Branch was a kid/toddler there, therefore baby Branch would have still be in the Troll Tree. In Trolls (2016) the bergens have eaten Branch's grandmother (assuming around (2000-2001) while when Branch was baby (January 1999), his grandma was still alive.
Because in the first movie the trolls had their escaped on the day of the Trollstice which occurs once every year.
BUT Trollstice could occur perhaps on any day of the year as it was not specified which day of the year and in the span of one months, baby Branch could've looked like a toddler. The trolls could've moved to Pop Village within the first two weeks February of 1999. That would've made John Dory's blog update make sense and the timeline wouldn't be so confusing.
BUT ALAS,
There is a hindrance in this theory. Because Brozone broke up in March 11 of 1999; their grandma was still alive, Branch was still a baby, and John Dory posted about Pop Village in February of 1999.
It's joever.
There's no braining to the Trolls timeline. Let's just enjoy the movie series, shall we? (â ââ ´â ââ `â ââ )

You know who is super underrated, Bruce, that's who! And I need to know why.
Like this man.... Gosh I love him so much. Out of all of the brothers I think Bruce is the most chill and here is a list of some of the reasons why.
1. He babied Branch the least.
I see him tossing Branch and the wet willy as him being more of an older brother verse seeing Branch as a baby. As for the 'last time I saw you, you were in diapers' comment, that seems more of a 'oh my gosh it's been so long and you've grown so much' comment. And unlike John Dory and Clay he didn't instantly turn to cooing at him like he was a toddler.
2. He loves his wife.
One of Bruce's first reactions to seeing his brothers again is to introduce them to his wife. And the one first things he tell them about Brandy is 'she is my soulmate.' He also asks her first if he can leave last minute instead of running off and asking for forgiveness later. The two of them clearly respect each other and work well together as business partners, parents, and spouses.
3. He's a good dad.
The entire time he's talking with his brothers Bruce is also managing his kids, talking with them and trying to help them out. It's clear to me that he juggles them and everything else pretty well, which means he's done it before. And given how many of them go to him to ask for help shows that the kids trust him and he's involved in their lives. He does get a bit overwhelmed but what parent doesn't?
4. He's nice to John Dory
When Branch and Clay first see John Dory after over two decades of being apart they greet him with anger and coldness. Bruce doesn't. Now, he doesn't hug John when they first reunite but I think that was because he spotted Branch first and was really excited to see his younger brother again. He does get upset at JD for bringing up the Perfect Family Harmony but Bruce didn't know the situation at first. And hearing about it again probably brought up some painful memories for him from his time in the band. And don't bring up the fight, that doesn't count. Emotions were high for everyone and they were all very stressed.
5. He agrees to save Floyd
This might seem like a low-bar but I promise I have a point! As I mentioned in my last point, hearing about the Harmony likely brought up a lot of painful memories for Bruce. And one of the first things he told his brothers was about how he was trying to put his band days behind him, I doubt Bruce wanted to to bring the band back together. He also had his family to think about, he can't just leave them at a drop of a hat! But as soon as he hears about Floyd his first thoughts is to think up solutions to save him. And when it's made clear that calling the authorities won't work, he agrees to help.
Alright, those are all my points! I could probably make more but I'd have to watch the movie again. But my original point still stands, Bruce is awesome and needs more love (and fics). Thank you all for coming to my Ted Talk.
This was fun! I should do these for some of the other characters.

YES, THANK-YOU!!
The Brozone Misconception
(This picture is more a joke don't take it too seriously)
This is a kind of long analysis, deep dive, and discussion about certain fandom misconceptions. I am 100 percent open for discussion but I would ask that you read the whole thing first before reaching out, and please be respectful!
A link to the og google doc with images as tumblr image limit killed part of the essay XD
Essay under the cut
There is a common misconception in a small subset of the trolls fandom about the character of Brozone. That is their reaction and treatment of Branch, their overall purpose in the story, and whether or not Branch should have forgiven them. Whether or not their trauma born toxic traits which they aim to grow out of should be forgiven or not.
Letâs begin with an analysis of the beginning, middle, and end of their arc progression more or less.
We start with our favorite problem child, Jonathan Dorian, mounting the pressure of tonight's show, building expectations, and showing us, the audience, a bit of what goes on every time these guys perform:Â
Making Bruce do 100 more push ups in the time before showtime (1 minute)Â
Pressuring Clay to wear the funderdrawers even tho he clearly doesnât want toÂ
Rebuffing floyds attempts to calm himself down
And his worst crime
Making Baby Branch Nervous
Now you could see all of these and think âEvil! Evil John Dory! Jail for John DOry for 1000 years!!â because he is being oh so toxic. Now JDâs main motivation for pushing his brothers so hard in this moment has to do with the âPerfect Family Harmonyâ which according to baby Branch no one has ever hit before
And you can see the strain it puts on the other brothers not just through the scenes i showed before but Clay literally tells us
John Dory not only sees it as a great achievement, but he is putting his own and his families self worth all on whether or not they accomplish the perfect family harmony
(ignore the crappy cropping image limits)
And when they fail he blames it on them not following his leadÂ
He still believes after all of that that they can successfully complete the Perfect Family harmonyÂ
This looks to be about the first time the brothers air their grievances out to their older brother about how they actually feel about not only completing the harmony, but the direction of the band itself.
All of this happens within the heat of the moment, and only continues to get worse as when confronted with all of this Negativity JD decides to leave. You can see by his facial expressions in the above screenshots he was already feeling terrible about the situation as a whole. Animation is very show donât tell just as much as live action is, itâs very important for storytelling as a whole. A character should not have to SAY they are remorseful for you to be able to see it.
So JD leaves leading his other brothers to leave as well. Ironically they are following his lead badum dum dum.Â
Now we can assume this is probably par for the course for these guys, cuz Grandma is right there, and she just lets them leave, you say plot convenience I say subtle story telling/ It is implied they do this all the time and will eventually come back. (they donât)
(Also ignore this image its also a silly and not serious XD)
Now you may be thinking, Ricky, you say that Brozone is not toxic, yet you show us the worst examples of their character. Listen dear reader, this is only the beginning, what Iâve shown you is merely the establishment of the eventual conflict that will be part of the driving force behind character growth and the story itself.Â
Letâs move on to adulthood. The main arguments against Brozone happen here, other than the initial abandonment of Branch, which, I should remind you, happened when the oldest among them was still a teenager (teenagers are dumb).Â
In this section I also have to mention another movie, and another character, as he is usually brought up in these discussionsÂ
Creek
Creek is usually used as a comparison to the Brozone bros in the argument that Brozone is EVIL AND TOXIC AND UNFORGIVABLE and Creek by comparison should be seen in a better light and not deserve the hate. To be honest I have never seen the level of hate that has been given to Brozone leveled at Creek in the slightest. He is canonically a toxic character, and one who is incredibly self serving which a majority of the fandom recognize and vibe with. Creeks admittedly rancid personality is a massive factor in his appeal (at least for me), and that is kind of the point of his character: To be awful and unforgivable. Creek wasnât made as your average side character, Creek was specifically made to be an antagonist, to be a contrast to one of our main protagonists, Branch. That is why they are always at odds with each other within both 3D media and 2D media.Â
Taken from the trolls wiki
Creek has also shown disregard for Branchâs hobbies in the main show, tossing his puzzle into the fire. This was during Haircuffed, when Creek didnât want to do Branchâs puzzle
Which you think not so bad, its just a puzzle! WellâŚ
Puzzleâs have incredible significance to Branch, a comfort object if you will, and another way to feel connected to his Grandma. Now you might cry âCreek didnât know it was significant! He canât be held responsible for that!â HE SHOULDNâT HAVE TO KNOW THE TRAUMA BEHIND THE PUZZLE TO NOT DESTROY THE PUZZLE.
Conversely let's look at the Brothers:
Throughout the course of the film they are a bit rude to Branch and dismissive of him:
JD:
Bruce:
Clay:
(You could argue the face grabbing is just a troll thing cuz)
But anyway
These scenes are minor things that add up during the course of the film for the purpose of showing off the traits they will put aside and grow out of for the sake of each other.
(brb reading xmen)
Lets talk about Xmen, you think JD is bad well watch this
Bam!
Anyway
Before we tackle the entire argument scene letâs first tackle the individual character of each of the bros, Specifically: John Dory, and Bruce, who are most criticized for their actions.
John Dory is one of the first brothers we see return in the film, and his first and foremost objective is to collect Branch so that they can go get their other brothers to rescue Floyd. Some have called John Dory uncaring for his younger brothers, but if that were the case why start the rescue mission at all? An uncaring brother would just ignore the letter and go on with his life, but John Dory literally drops everything just to go rescue his little brother. The letter even specified getting the other brothers first, but John Dory goes alone to get Floyd out of danger as fast as possible only retrieving the other bros when he fails (and cuz he didnt know where they were, canât waste time when you got a brother to save)
A brother who didnât care about his family wouldnât go through all this effort. Some would say heâs only doing it for appearances sake, but for whom? Him and his brothers have been out of the limelight for 20 years, JD especially has been isolated in the neverglades, who is he trying to impress with this? No one, heâs just a good brother.
Also a reminder! When thinking about breaking Floyd out he is not the first to bring up the harmony! Floyd is, John Dory had a much more clever idea
So it's not just to complete the harmony either.
Heâs also held on to all the merch from their Brozone days, mementos of his family, it shows how he cares, but also the flaw he aims to overcome: his desperate attempt to cling to the past, the better days.
Now let's go to Bruce, easily the most scrutinized of the brothers (because of the baby comment)Â
When he first sees his brothers again this is his reaction:Â
(Another point for JD, got ignored but is more happy to see his bros getting along)
Bruce is excited to introduce them to his family, excited to reconnect.
(Note: At this point tumblr stopped allowing images so i will be giving descriptions along with a link to the original google doc for reference purposes these are screenshots from the movie)
Cut image: Bruce introducing his wife to his brothers "These are my brothers, unexpectedly"
(Still excited and immediately introduces them to his wife despite them being âunexpectedâ)
Cut Image: Brandy saying "It's so nice to finally meet you"
âItâs so nice to finally meet youâ Implies that heâs talked about them at length and the possibility of them meeting up with one another.
Also all of his kids completely ignore their mom, just to ask their father something, or tell on their sibling, or ask for his help as seen in this entire clip
youtube
With the ketchup kid he assures his kid he will handle it (and yes Brandy had to handle it but um rescue mission?) and that he loves them he just needs a bit of time to address, um who was it again? His brothers, rightâŚ
Bruce is argued as being incredibly selfish, I had seen a meme once that had suggested Bruce would let his own children die before he would give up his own life, which is horrendous and blatantly untrue. Bruce only tries to turn away his brothers when John Dory brings up the perfect family harmony and thatâs before he knows it's for Floyd, once he finds out itâs for Floyd he is immediately on board! His biggest concern about the harmony at this time is how theyâre going to do it.Â
As for âabandoning his family againâ Bruce is going on a rescue mission, which he asks his wife before hand if it is alright
Which she approves, he also agrees to cover for a WHOLE MONTH for the yoga retreat (Also seen in the clip above)
He spends the majority of the journey caring for Tiny Diamond as well, he lets Tiny into his hair, carries him around in a baby sling heâs a dad to any kid who needs him.
Clay doesnât get as much scrutiny as either of the older bros, most likely due to his inability to leave the golf course and the fact he apologizes to Branch at the end. There are many things that mimic the same in the ending scene but letâs address the points brought up within the argument that people use to claim the evilness of Brozone.Â
Also fun reminder, Clay is the one to start the fight, Not John Dory, not Bruce, Clay just a fun note (he is a lil problematic and argumentative and thats why i love him)
Clay brings up John Dory being bossy which sets everyone off into a tangent about the past, past actions that they think are resurfacing
Cut image, the beginning of the argument:
Clay: No. No, dude. Youâre forcin' us to be perfect, just like you always have, so we can hit the perfect family harmony.
John Dory: Yeah. For Floyd.
Bruce: Is it? Or is this all just so you can tell people what to do again?
John Dory: Wha What?
_
Bruce: This isnât gonna work if you keep on bein' the same old John Dory.
We all know John Doryâs reason for being âbossyâ ; his reason for his perfection, once done out of an effort to impress, is now one out of necessity. They need to be perfect because now someone can die, and the others canât see that due to their own trauma at the hands of JDâs perfectionism.Â
As shown way at the beginning of the essay, all of the brothers suffered at the hands of JDâs past obsession, Bruce had to look a certain way pushing his body past its limits, Clay had to act a certain way disregarding his own happiness to keep up an image, Floyd was ignored and his advice pushed aside, and Branch was pushed to be perfect when he was only about 2 years old (or a month old if you go by the brozone blog). JD also suffered, pushing himself to make song after song, mentally exhausting himself and inadvertently hurting his brothers in the process of doing what he thinks is right for them.Â
JD also had the responsibility (as a teen) to parent all of his younger brothers:
Cut Image:
John Dory: Well, Iâm not allowed to change. Iâm the oldest. I had to be the leader.
John Dory: Why do you think I moved to the middle of nowhere? So I didnât have to be in charge of anyone. Four little brothers is a lot of responsibility.
You could argue it's his responsibility as the oldest but Grandma was right there, they shouldnât be his sole responsibility.Â
When most of them left it was done out of self preservation, to protect their sanity and to finally find happiness outside of a place that was no longer bringing it to them. They were kind of acting how most would want Branch to act, they cut out the toxic family for their own safety.Â
Bruce:
Cut image:
Bruce: [stammers] Why do you think I left? So no one would treat me like you did.
Clay:Â
Cut Image:
Clay: Iâm gonna find trolls who take me seriously. Next to Clay is a picture of himself in a graduation cap
(Also that is Clays graduation photo, they are all around teen years in the prologue which means this is either a middle school graduation photo or he graduated early and is still not taken seriously, which as someone who also faces that [only being seen one way despite your achievements] is incredibly discouraging and soul destroying)Â
They most likely didnât return due to the fact they didnât want to be faced with this kind of treatment again (golf course entrapment aside)Â
(Now youâre probably wondering about Floyd and heâs a whole other post, this is mostly focusing on the brothers who receive the most criticism due to misrepresentation)
During the argument they talk about going their separate ways, it is admittedly harsh they way they talk about leaving again, but they never say theyâre leaving forever. Bruce has to return to his wife and kids, Clay left the golf course without one of its leaders, JD has his own life and routine, of course theyâd go back to it once it was over, but that doesnât mean visiting is off the table, and that theyâd never see each other again.Â
Cut Image: John Dory: What? The missionâs the mission. [chuckles] You didnât think weâd all live together when this was all over, did you? Singin' songs and roastin' marshmallows?
Again i recognize JD is being an asshole here, but he is only knocking the idea of living together off the table, which kind of understandable theyâre all adults with their own lives they donât need to live together, I donât get mad at my sister for going back to her house when shes done visiting. But again it is more how they say it then what theyâre saying
Cut Image:
Branch: [scoffs] Oh, Iâm sorry. Is that funny to you? That I might want us to actually be a family again? Tiny Diamond, pull over. Now.
Seen is JD's look of regret
You can see on his face that he regrets what he said when Branch says this, when he gets angry at him, he didnât mean it like that. Thats when the donât be a baby comment comes in, they still donât actually understand why heâs upset, they think heâs acting childish, they donât recognize heâs changed yet
Cut Image: The bros reaction upon hearing of grandmas death
These are their faces when they hear what Branch has been through, they obviously are upset, theyâre hurt on his behalf, they are remorseful, this and their future actions signify the shift from who they were (hurt kids turned hurt adults, fighting over their past trauma)Â
After Branch leaves, they, on their own accord, continue the mission to save Floyd, which is how they get caught, and during the final climax control freak JD relinquishes control, having changed and lets Branch take the lead. This is after Branch reminds them they donât have to be perfect to be in harmony, just to be as they are together which they AGREE
Cut Image:
JD: We'll follow your lead, Branch
Once they save Floyd we are brought to Bruceâs restaurant, he brings them there to host their reunion, there is where branch gets encouragement from JD, where Clay apologizes, where Floyd reminisces and you can see JD engaging with his brothers more than just encouraging Branch he has joined Clays sad book club
Cut Image: JD reading a sad book behind Branch and Clay talking about said book club
This isnât the end of their reconnection, this is only the beginning. They still have lots of time to grow, and to become closer as family.Â
Now lets head back to Creek for a moment before we close this off:
We have brought up the puzzle destruction and his purpose as an antagonist. The main argument most people use is that Creek had no other choice but to sell out his entire race to be eaten and killed to save himself. He had a choice, Branch wouldâve let himself get eaten if it meant protecting all of troll village as noticed when he protects poppy in twt (though he mightâve actually found another way out), Poppy wouldâve as well. In tbt Floyd begs each of his brothers who meets him before the climax to let him die so they donât face the same fate, these are all selfless acts. Creek reacts selfishly, eat everyone else but donât eat me, then he smugly confronts Poppy, obnoxiously laments about how he has to live with his actions when if he were a truly good and selfless character wouldn't have been an issue. He smiles smugly, shrugs his shoulders, and lets himself be carried to safety when his people look at his betrayal with disbelief and sadness.Â
Creeks actions in the 1st movie are awful, theyâre supposed to be, theyâre meant to be unforgivable crimes, and that is why he is killed in the 3D canon, legit he is dead in the 3D canon. 2D and 3D are different continuities, which is part of why I find them (Brozone and Creek) to be mostly incomparable.
Brozoneâs arc only affects Branch and each other and in the end they grow stronger, and into better people. Creeks arc/actions affect an entire species and their survival, within the 2D continuity his actions only continue to be self serving, and rather toxic (more for funsies but you know) he should not have been forgiven, but he was. His actions were deplorable yet forgiven which then begs the question why arenât Brozones? Creek also wrote the apology song solely to humiliate Branch in front of his friends which is not cool bro, Branch did not deserve the treatment he got in the episode from anyone.Â
To conclude my thoughts are that Creek and Brozones actions are incomparable, Creekâs actions are not meant to be taken in a positive or sympathetic light, he is a villain cut and dry, that is who he was made to be and he does it wonderfully. I donât hate Creek, I love his character, he is awful and that is great! Love toxic awful characters! Brozone are a representation of a broken family coming together again, they are toxic, and then they grow, they are meant to do so, the villains of that movie are Velvet, Veneer, and familial trauma all of which get mended by the end of the film. Itâs not perfect but its there, and the ignorance of it is what causes these major misconceptions.Â

I really love these two....and everything that surrounds their relationship ;;;
I think the beautiful thing about the Broppy relationship is how they impact one another.
Branchâs impact on Poppy is the most obvious in the movies because heâs the one who teaches her to calm down and listen.
But what I think people overlook is the fact that despite her flaws, Poppy never gave up on Branch. Because as cute as they are now, there was a time when Branch was actually pretty cruel to her (ie. Putting her down, smashing her custom made invitations for him in front of her face, mocking her ideals, etc) and probably had been treating her like that for years before movie #1.
Everyone else had given up on him, basically deeming him as a lost cause, but Poppy never stopped trying. Yes Branch got on her nerves and hurt her feelings, and as far as she knew he would just throw her invitations away afterwards. Yet despite that she still put in the effort to make him custom invitations and genuinely want him to be there.
And even though he never dared express it, those efforts meant something to him.
Like we love Branch, but I donât think we give Poppy enough credit for her role in Branchâs life. He was unkind (to put it lightly) to her for years, but despite that she never held any resentment towards him and still felt that he deserved to be happy. And by that incredible persistence, she worked her way into his heart.
See, Branch is a character who is completely used to tragedy and people he loves leaving in his life. So thatâs partially why he pushed Poppy away and treated her so poorly. But despite that, Poppy was always THERE. She was with him when literally nobody else was. She was naive, optimistic and annoying, but she was there. Always putting the effort to be his friend, and the only one who had any sort of faith in him. He may have been isolated, but because of Poppy he was never truly alone. And even if it irked him, he still appreciated that.
And when somebody sticks with you literally no matter what, itâs not surprising that he fell more than a little bit in love.
As for Poppy, sheâs slowly becoming aware that she can be a bit much sometimes. She always wants the best for her people but she doesnât always know how to do that. Branch, even if originally rude about it, has always been able to give it to her straight. And even if he pretended not to care, he still had her back when it mattered the most. And after number one, it looks like he has her back more than ever while still being able to be the voice of reason. Which yes, Poppy definitely needs.
(Gah I wish I could put more pictures to elaborate my point but yâall get it.)
Anyway. Theyâre not perfect characters, but they are perfect for each other. Branch supports Poppy but gives it to her flat out. Meanwhile Poppy too supports Branch and is stubborn enough to stick by him, even when heâll intentionally and/or unintentionally push her away. And thatâs just gorgeous.

Hiya! Ok, so, I'm here to analyze, again. But! Not a scene. I'm here to analyze the evolution of the one and only #Broppy, from the first movie. I've been planning to include the three movies and the holiday specials, but I figured I can't add that many pics in one post. I can only add ten, soooo-
Let's take it from the beginning: the first appearance for Branch.
If you ask me, he was being rude, maybe even embarrassed Poppy in front of everyone. Yeah, I love Branch, and he's my baby and all, but dude, you shouldn't have done that, especially not in front of everyone. Like, yeah, we later know his backstory and his grandma and his brothers, but still, it's not Poppy's fault, he shouldn't have treated her like this. Sure, her believing life was all cupcakes and rainbows might have been provoking to Branch, but he's still at fault, and I think more people need to make peace with that.
Also, something I noticed, is that Branch and Poppy were close even before the events of the first movie, cause, literally everyone calls her 'Princess Poppy', except the snack pack. They just call her Poppy, and the fact that Branch also calls her Poppy just proves they were close.
Now, later, we see Branch holding Poppy's scrapbook, then staring at even more scrapbooks on the shelves. Like, cute, sure, but it's not what you feel, it's what you show, Branch.
Okay, now, this scene:
The fact that Poppy was knocking on the rock just means she never got into Branch's bunker before. But she knows the address, so that counts. Maybe he had given it to her when they first met in case she needed something after he'd found her hurt with a broken arm or something then they became friends- I'm totally drifting from the post. Sorry about that.
Now, there are two theories:
Annnywayyyy, let's focus on the scene after:
"Which is why I have to ask you..." she hesitated, before continuing, "will you go to Bergen town with me and save everyone?"
She hesitated! She freaking hesitated! Meaning? She probably never asked Branch to help her before. She surely had problems in her life, but she also had her friends, so I belive she always went to them whenever she was in trouble. But now those friends aren't here, which forces her to ask the person who she trusts the most after them. Branch. And, disappointedly, he refuses, because of the fear he's living in.
Moments later, Poppy surprisingly invites the entire village to Branch's bunker to keep them safe. Which was wrong of her. True, she was trying to protect everyone, but using Branch's house without his consent was wrong. Sorry. Sure, it was the safest place for now, but that still doesn't justify it. You can see he was clearly annoyed (which she loved). But I don't really blame her, just like I don't really blame Branch. They both did wrong.
Skip, skip, skip, skip, skip- hold... rightttt here:
Ah, yes. That scene. Now, look. He showed up, because he knew there was no way Poppy could do this by herself, and he wasn't wrong. Poppy, in return, also knew he would come, because it was the third hug time by then.
"I guess we were both right." That line. It speaks volumes for their relationship, yet no one talks about it! They both look at things from different perspectives, BUT, it doesn't mean either of them is wrong.
Like when they arrived at the troll tree: "The troll tree." "Bergen town."
Or when they found out the others were still alive: "They're alive?" "And on a silver platter too. We were both right."
Please writers and artists, we need more content with this line. Add it to your fanfics/art!
Skip, skip, another skip (yes, I skipped the part where Branch tries to avoid talking about his feelings cause it's kinda... i don't know, i just don't know what to say about it. It's sorta obvious), skiiiiiip, annnndddd, right here:
THEIR. FIRST. HUG.
My babies, oh my sweet precious babies. They've been through so much together, and finally, Branch has found it in himself to actually open up about his past (mostly).
I've spoken about this scene in more details in this post.
Now, we're going to talk about one of the most important scenes in the history of Broppy. This:
Branch is talking. He's always used to being in the shadows, never helping anyone, and here he was, helping a Bergen. If that's not a big change, I don't know what is.
And let me tell you, not only Branch was changing in this scene. See Poppy?
She's learning to look deeper into things, even persons. She's finally realizing that Branch, the grumpy, sarcastic troll, might not be as bad as she thought. They're both developing.
Until the rules are swapped.
Branch is the one to find the bright side, and Poppy is the one to cover it. And you can see how disappointed he is.
"I can't wait to see the look on your face when you realize the world isn't all cupcakes and rainbows." But when it happened, Branch realized that this wasn't what he wanted. He didn't want her to be like him, because this was him - a person who doesn't see the cupcakes and rainbows in life, not even in the slightest.
The way he was trying to cheer her up
And the way she actually smiled. Poppy was still there, her happiness was inside, not gone but hidden, and Branch was trying to find it again.
Yet she didn't even notice her own colors returning. Maybe because she was focused on the change in Branch? She wasn't startled when he sang at first, she wasn't happy, just like he used to be. He didn't use to care, until later, when his feelings began to resurface again, because Poppy helped him. Just like he was doing now. Neither did he notice his colors coming back
Aaaaaand, I think the rest doesn't really need analyzing.
Feel free to add or comment on anything.

đ§ Analysis
"Poppy and Branch are the two Trolls least likely to panic in a dire situation in Trolls World Tour. The thought other Tribes of Trolls didn't know what "Hammer Time" was didn't phase either, while their friends all panicked. Both remain fairly headstrong in desperate situations, though Branch is more prone to being over-cautious or paranoid as he is more likely to react in the face of danger."
I really like this fact about them. I'm currently rewatching Trolls World Tour, so I'd like to know if others pointed this out. Poppy isn't foreign to these concepts, but she has high expectations for certain things to turn out a certain way. That's how I see it she has managed to be level-headed compared to her other friends. Consider the scene in Trolls where the two infiltrated King Gristle's castle, it was hug time and Branch thought at this moment Poppy would want to hug, but it wasn't. She could get on with Branch's pace, sarcasm, and burns, I'd say she has an adaptable personality and that's how she gets along well with Branch, even if they're different. Also thinking that is what makes her a good queen among the Pop trolls.

@dulltoned and @lawbreaker13 I agree with both these headcanons and theories. The ones about Branch's relationship with Poppy are especially lovely. đĽ°đ
Branch's trauma is constantly on my mind right now. The depth of his abandonment issues and how it could be layered on top of itself.
For the longest time Branch was a character defined entirely by loss but with BroZone he's not only defined by his grief but his loneliness and guilt.
The death of Rosiepuff is so much more devastating in the context that Band Together offers. Not only was she all he had left but Floyd tasked him with taking care of her. Floyd's attempt to offer his little brother purpose only gave him more trauma to shoulder. Not to mention baby Branch had already adopted the idea that the band breaking up was his fault, what would that mean if he failed the one thing that was asked of him? He was so little when his brothers left and not much older when Rosiepuff died, he couldn't understand that it was all just a series of cruel coincidences.
Branch and how his past and his issues only get in the way of the healing process that he worked hard to start. How he's spent his entire life taking care of himself and preparing for the worst because he's sure that it's going to come, and how that means he struggles to ask for help even when he knows that he should because he doesn't need anybody. He never has before so why should he now? How it's so easy to regress into that isolationist mindset because it's easier than being vulnerable and allowing people that opportunity to either hurt him or be hurt by him again.
I have so many ideas I want to write really fleshing out how fundamentally hurt he is as a person.

im rewatching trolls 1 and 3 i can see now that creek is the perfect representation of toxic positivity (and a backstabber) while floyd is genuine and positive in a good healthy way
this makes me think that this is just more fuel for branch to hate creek, he resembles someone that branch knew and was important to him, but he stays in this false positivity and doesn't want really to listen or help those who really need it, in fact he even blames them ("tune out his negative vibrations, poppy, they're toxic. some folks just don't want to be happy" and well what do you know branch's paranoia was right and the entire plot of the first film happens)
(not only that, but he is also purple like branch's grandma, someone who was also very dear and important to him)
all this resembles but in a wrong, bad way
meanwhile, floyd listened to baby branch and tried to calm him down, saying it was normal for him to feel the way he did and he's not alone, validating his feelings ("ah, you got the preshow jitters. completely normal. everyone gets âem.")
and never blamed branch for things that weren't indeed his fault ("itâs my fault. i ruined everything." "no, no, branch, this is not your fault.")
he cared about his brothers' well-being and wanted to have fun together. ([to john dory] "bro, you look stressed. breathe.", "or maybe, letâs just go out there and have fun together!")
even when he was being tougher on john dory it was because john dory was the one putting too much pressure on the other brothers, making them tense. ("okay, calm down. youâre making baby branch nervous." "cut him some slack, john dory. itâs his first show.")

Crowley chose to make a statement with his outfit when he goes to investigate Heaven. Crowley has always cared about what he looks like. He always tries to fit in with the humans that he is around. There are times when he misses the mark like in Rome. But in Heaven, all of the changes he makes have a purpose. Itâs a drastic difference to his normal clothes. Almost all of it changes. He changes his hair. He paints his nails gold even adds a gold tooth. His snake tattoo, a symbol that defines who he is, he covers with a sticker. All of the changes are telling a story to any angel who dares to look closely at the demon in midst
The most basic of changes tell the angels what he thinks about them. He makes his normal outfit light in color to blend in. His hair is no longer styled, but pushed out of his face. Heâs wearing white flip-flops. He makes it look like heâs the CEO whoâs pissed off that he had to come in on his vacation. The entire outfit is lounge wear. Heâs telling them what he thinks about them. Even though, they are supposed to be good and fighting evil, they really arenât. They are never shown making a good difference to the world, besides Azirphale, who Crowley has always separated from the heavenly bureaucracy. A golden tooth is seen as a symbol of wealth, but it also is a symbol of status. There are places where healthy teeth have been shaven down to cover a heathy tooth to show wealth and status. Almost like angels who cared were wore away to nothing to their status. Worn down to only care about their status.
The Serpent of Eden... Crowleyâs tattoo always makes itself known. If his sideburns are longer, the snake moves out from under them. When he goes into Heaven, he covers it with an identical, but gold sticker. It seems as though Crowley canât change the tattoo or just miracle it away. The snake refuses to be hidden or changed. Crowley refuses to be hidden or changed. He uses the glasses in the same way. Dark glasses in Heaven would be suspicious since they avoid any dark colors in their outfits since the demons do the opposite. He could have tried contacts, but he chose rose-colored glasses. Dark enough to slightly cover his eyes upon a quick glance. âWhen you look at some through rose-colored glasses all the red flags just look like flags.â (Bojack Horseman) Instead of making his glasses opaque and hiding the snake somehow, Crowley lets the angels know who he is. He makes sure that any angel who walks by and looks through his rose colored glasses will notice that his eye have slits. If they just pay attention, theyâll notice that the serpent of Eden is in Heaven and heâs doing what he always does: asking questions. He shows them that there is a murder hornet in their hive. Because thereâs one thing that Crowley will never be again, can never be again, doesnât even want to be again, and thatâs another bee.Â
But what does that have to do with the watch? The watch is the one thing that he doesnât change at all. That is the one thing that didnât change in the Fall. He never lost his connection to time. He never lost that ability. It was the one major part of who he was that was the same as the angel he was before. A serpent who still knew how to manipulate them. So he doesnât change the watch, because that ability, manipulating the sands of time that was so vital in creating the stars, was not taken away him when the rest of his divinity was.
So when Crowley waltzes back into Heaven, he tells them. He shows everything off. He tells them exactly who he is, if only theyâd get over their own hypocrisy to look close enough. He wears clothes that look like theirs except its âloungeâ wear to show that he thinks theyâre lazy. He wears his glasses but he makes them sheer enough so that an angel could still see his eyes. He puts a golden identical snake sticker over his tattoo so that would know that he was there still. He leaves his watch black. The one part of him that is truly his that he never questioned. That part of him that was a birthright that was not taken away and that Hell could never say they owned. The one piece of himself that was never manipulated. Even when he goes back into the place that abandoned him, he refuses to let himself, even if itâs just a disguise, be truly changed.
