birth control is always more effective when you use more than one method. (note: this does not include using an external condom with an internal condom; don't do that. they'll chafe against each other and both become less effective.) if external condoms for your partner are off the table, using internal condoms with another type of birth control would be a really smart alternative.

implants and IUDs are a great option for this particular situation, since they have the highest success rate of any birth control currently available (short of sterilization or abstinence). there's no such thing as birth control that's 100% effective, but IUDs and implants are usually a pretty reliable 99. used in tandem with any type of condom, your odds of unwanted pregnancy are going to be extremely low.

okay, so, why are FC2 internal condoms so hard to get ahold of if they're so great? the extremely short version is that several years ago the company that manufactures them decided to pull the condoms from pharmacies and make them prescription-only with the justification that the Affordable Care Act would make prescription condoms cheaper for anyone with insurance, as well as expressing hope that doctors prescribing internal condoms would raise awareness of the product. FC2 does make it somewhat simple to get a prescription through their own website in theory, albeit with a consultation fee and, currently, a notification that you might be boned if you're insured through Medicaid, which I'm sure is great for expanding the accessibility of their product.

it should be noted that local health centers and LGBT resources centers are more than willing to give internal condoms out without a prescription; I know my local HIV testing site was more than happy to give out their stock of internal condoms to anyone who wanted them until they ran out. if any cis, straight person reading this is interested in pursuing this route but feels weird about potentially accessing an LGBT center when you're not part of the community: trust me, we want y'all to have safer sex, too. please, anyone and everyone, call around and check with your local resources to see if they can help you out.

as for internal condoms manufactured by other brands, I'm afraid I can't attest to their quality. I'm not saying they aren't safe, only that they haven't been subjected to FDA regulations and I lack enough information to make an informed recommendation for or against. internal condoms as a whole are still really under-researched; even in the case of FC2 condoms, for instance, there's still a real lack of data regarding their effectiveness in preventing the transmission of STIs. if you're passionate about exploring this route, I strongly recommend doing as much of your own research as possible to make the most informed decision possible to decide if other brands are the right pick for you.

It was sm fun to make this cos, so I will gladly explain everything I did in hopes that it might help someone else!! also both anons please share your cosplays with me when theyre done i would love to see them....

I've tried to link everything where I can, where I got stuff etc... I only rarely cosplay (although I am thinking of going as the noise in May Comiccon) and this was my biggest ever project so!! It's very trial-and-error! But without further ado

KATES EXTENSIVE(ish) GUIDE TO COSPLAYING NOISETTE FROM THE HIT GAME PIZZA TOWER!!!!!!! (warning its kinda long)

THE HAT

Okay i’m gonna be real my mum helped me so much she basically did all the sewing for me. Sewing is the fucking bane of my existence I hate doing it so much so we planned it out together and she basically executed it. Props to her for that she’s so real… She also wrote down what she did!! So i’ll just paste and colour that in for you to read!!

“The black material (seen in the above image) was originally a beanie hat that was picked apart to use as a template…

This was game changing basically. We had experimented with making the hat from scratch but it was far too difficult and we were both too stupid so we just unstitched a pre-existing hat and stole the template. The hat we cut up was one we had lying around for years so i cannot tell you where to get one from, but any beanie that is stitched together will work i guess! So I would recommend finding a hat that fits you snugly and doing the same thing!

…and the wool fabric that was utilised gave the finished product was stiff enough to be structurally sound.

I just got this from my local fabric shop, I would recommend wool over something like felt because it’s super sturdy and I was pulling on my mask a LOT.

Once sewn together, I attached a stiff card facemask to the front to help provide some structure, and to locate where the eye holes should be cut.

I think this picture shows it pretty well, my mum was able to curve the shape of the fabric to fit a pre-existing mask- we got ours from Hobbycraft, just one of those stringed white template masks yknow. We cut off the string, made the eyeholes a little bigger and just stuck it straight on!! I should mention this was pretty much all done with a sewing machine as well!

After that, we made two ears from a paper pattern, stuffed them and put some wire inside to allow them to be positioned, before sewing them onto this headband, which was then sewn into the hat. The bottom of each ear was also stitched to the crown to give it some additional stability and to secure the headband correctly in position (having fitted it on the wearer).

Yeah it was actually less of a mask and more of a headband!! That was what gave it most of the support and meant the ears would stay up, I’m not sure how it would work without it!! The ears were the only part that I could actually help with LMAO i just freehanded a little template, stuffed it, and then put in some modelling wire to make them able to be posed :)

Then it was a lot of hand sewing, and glueing the eyeholes to the mask to create a cohesive look.

AND YEAH that’s pretty much all it was! I also attached some little felt eyelashes to add to it as well. Honestly I could never come up with a step-by-step guide for the process because it was such a trial and error thing (i’d made two test-hats before we even came up with the method) but it was so fun!!

I would 100% recommend if you want the ears to stay UP to stuff them AS MUCH AS U CAN and/or put wire in them!! :) I also made some cute little bows to clip into my wig in the same fabric to make it more cohesive!! I also put a bow (and a bunny tail heheh) on the back of the dress too!!

THE DRESS

Super simple! I just found one online (okay for some reason the link has been taken off of the website, but just look up "overall dress" on google shopping and you will 100% find something super cute)- I made sure to buy the dress first, and then take it to the fabric shop to try and colourmatch the mask fabric as best as I could. Then it was just buying some big ol buttons off eBay and sewing them on!! (I could actually do that bit by myself, I'm bad at sewing but im not THAT bad)

EVERYTHING ELSE

Cute patterned knee-high socks cuz shes cute like that. Leg warmers, I think I got them both off of Amazon... Converse I got from Depop and I had wanted to buy a pair anyway so I was super stoked to get them cheap!! I chose converse over a pair of high-heels or Mary Janes just for comfort reasons, I was walking around loads at the con so... Everything else apart from the shirt was from Amazon or just. Somewhere online(I have no idea where to get fancy white gloves LOL) and the shirt was from Depop as well! I liked how frilly it was, re: Noisette is cute like that!!

oh yeah and the wig. I hate wigs it was awful. I have no idea how to style them. underneath the hat was the most awful bowl cut ever I just. It wasn't my best moment. Dont ask me about wigs please .

Also I should mention I got this bag for the cosplay (which I now use all the time cuz its so cute) because i needed space to store shit and I wanted something on-brand with her cafe... this isnt the exact link I used but I just got it off of ebay :P

PROPS

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of WIP pictures of my props but they were pretty simple to make!! The coffee cup was literally just spraypainting over a reusable coffee cup and using POSCA pen to draw on the front! Fun fact the cup says "To Peppino" because originally my boyfriend was gonna go with me as Peppino before the Cruetly Squad brainrot got to him so. YEA

And the tip jar was also pretty simple, I just painted on the lid a plastic jar (can't be glass, not allowed at ComicCon) and cut out a bit of vinyl to work as the sign. The cobweb was just hot-glued 3D printer filament, and the spider was made with foam modelling clay (literally the best thing ever if you're making small models like that) and i stuck him to the lid of the jar with Kandi string so he'd bounce around :]

AND I THINK THATS IT!! i may as well post a pic of the full cosplay since I dont think many people would have made it this far.... But I think it turned out pretty cool!! I got recognised a few times as well which was amazing!! (cropped out my bf cuz idk if he wants his face on tumblr gfhhfg)

if you've ever been intimidated by baking, i can't stress enough how little it actually is "an exact science". people like to say that cooking is art and baking is science but really they're both art and science. if you're scared, follow recipes! get a kitchen scale so you can do exact measurements! or don't! 90% of the baking i do i glance at a recipe and then just do what feels right. I've rarely made flops. Even when something doesn't come out as good as I think it should have, my friends can't tell and they devour it anyways.

follow recipes a few times, or your first time making something new. recipes exist for a reason.

Look at cookbooks (i very much want to suggest you go to a book store or library and not the internet, especially not tiktok. theres so much slop these days online i really recommend cookbooks), especially ones that have explainers on what ingredients do, or how to get different effects. Leverage the knowledge of those who came before you! Humans have been baking for centuries! Before the internet, before scales. Reach out to a relative who bakes if you have one!

Figure out if your oven has hot spots, or runs at a different temperature than you set it to. One method I heard of but haven't tried is line your entire baking rack with slices of white bread then run it at 350f for like 5 minutes and see which slices are toastier than others and it'll help you see if there's a hot spot. Invest in an oven thermometer to test the internal temp if you want! I can tell on vibes mine runs a little hot so I shave about 20f off everything I bake.

Check out science-based youtube channels (I really recommend Ann Reardon of How To Cook That!!!!!) that help explain what goes wrong in some examples and how to fix them, and prevent them. She does a lot with cakes! And "tiktok hacks" type videos!

I own a bread machine and make at least one loaf a week, usually 3. It's a lot more energy efficient and safer to run than my oven, I can even leave the house while it's baking. They're usually under $100, I recommend it!!!!

If you want to really practice before committing really hard, try baking with mixes first! It isn't a sin to use premade ingredients, especially for beginners and for accessibility reasons!

Accept that homemade food is uglier than store bought or TV food. My pretzel buns I made last month looked like deflated footballs, but tasted great and did exactly what they needed to do: hold a bratwurst.

Don't be afraid to ask questions! r/breadit is a good subreddit for posting questions about baking bread, as well as r/baking and r/cooking. Also posting online and asking around, or asking loved ones and friends. My coworker gives me bread recipes he likes!

If you are going to try baking with substitutes, for example: dairy substitutes or gluten free substitutes, be absolutely sure you are using the right conversion ratio as well as if anything additional is needed. I've used sugar substitutes that were WAY too sweet, or flours that were way nuttier in flavor than I expected. Research first!!

Hi, we’re Dustin and Jennifer Schouten and we’re the owners of Mosquito Shield of North Salt Lake City. We love that we are a customer service company. Since marrying Dustin, we’ve lived and traveled throughout the country and world, but we’re excited to be back in Dustin’s hometown where we can see the mountains everyday. Dustin was born in Salt Lake City, but moved often when he was young. He does, however, have a lot of family ties in the great state of Utah. In fact, he has a relative that is the former mayor of Ogden!

Mystery solved

I believe I've solved the mysterious/scary bug I blogged about yesterday.

Last week I tried to eliminate some repeated code by turning it into "inline" methods that return references to objects. I changed code like this (simplified for clarity):

In the back of my mind, I assumed Body::GetForce() was returning a reference to a Vec3, so it made sense for getF() to do likewise. But in fact, Body::getForce() returns a copy of a Vec3. Because of this, the compiler allocated stack space for a copy, then returned a reference to that copy. But the copy is only live during execution of getF(). Once the function returns, the copy can (and does) get trashed.

The correct solution, I think, is for getF() to likewise return a copy:

Two little ampersands can make a big difference!

This bug illustrates a couple subtle differences between C++ and Java. In Java, objects are passed and returned by reference, never by copy, so the latter possibility didn't occur to me. Super Mario 64 DS is a bizarre game.

It’s not talked about, Nintendo never mentions it, it has very strange elements, and the worst part? The controls; unfortunately, one of the few reasons people even remember it. A 3D platformer controlled with arrows?! Many shortcomings and forgotten, especially when compared to its original counterpart…

…but darn it, how I love it.

Despite it being bizarre, SM64DS is a very innovative game with elements never before seen in a Mario title and with others that even come from spin-offs, something Nintendo doesn’t usually do (the three Goomboss fans, please clap). With more characters, stars, missions, and mini-games, it truly is the definitive way to enjoy Mario 64.

Well, it would be if it weren’t for the controls; however, the purpose of this writing is not to complain about it over and over again, but to inform you how you can enjoy this incredible game properly: with an analog stick! Yes, this is a PC mod that allows you to control Mario and company much more naturally. This may not be news for many, but it was for me when I discovered it about two weeks ago, so SHHH. Here I am with a tutorial on how to play SM64DS in the best way.

I leave you this video guide on what to do to play with a stick, but I also leave you the step-by-step in writing below.

Here’s what you need:

1) Download this emulator, DeSmuME X432R here.

2) Download this program, ToxInput_v0.6 here (where it says “Assets”).

3) Download - um, I mean, acquire the EUROPEAN ROM of the game in a totally legal way.

4) Have a controller on hand. Xbox or a third-party one works. Switch Pro controllers do not work with this method (believe me, I tried 😞).

Now follow these steps:

1) Unzip everything and organize it (this is optional, I just encourage you to be tidy with your life. Make your bed too).

2) Connect your controller.

3) Open the emulator and configure the buttons normally.

4) Drink water.

5) Load the ROM. I recommend starting and getting control of Yoshi before the next step.

6) Open ToxInput.

7) Inside ToxInput: if the first control icon is highlighted in white, your controller is recognized*. Click on it. If it turns yellow, it works.

8) Inside ToxInput: click on the “DeSmuME X432R_x64.exe” option. It should turn yellow, if it does, then click on “Apply”. Do not close the program.

9) Now all that’s left is to go back to the emulator and test your new controls. If the character moves very slowly, then it didn’t work as it should. You’ll know if you’ve succeeded if the character moves like in the original Mario 64, meaning the movement speed changes according to the pressure you apply to the stick. The right stick controls the camera.

10) Done!

*If it is NOT highlighted in white, you can do the following: delete the “XInput9_1_0.dll” file from the ToxInput folder. Then open the program again, and it should recognize your control. If that doesn’t help, I’m sorry 😢.

This is not the only method to access this mod; in fact, there’s even one to play like this on 3DS, and as we all know, it’s surprisingly easy to hack a 3DS. But this one method seemed quite simple and easy to follow, 100% recommended!

You know what? I'm kind of glad that there are some branches of math that aren't so heavy when it comes to Calculus.

Personally, I'm okay with Calculus. I mean, I do sometimes hate integrals, but I also love them, when it comes to finding volume, area, distance, displacement, etc. of some weird ass shit (I used to always wonder how people measured the areas and volumes of wonky ass shapes when I was a kid and I'm happy to now know one of the methods).

I also love sequences (even if I'm still learning about them and don't have them down). I like derivatives and limits. I hate partial differentiation problems because looking at them causes me anxiety and ig I just need to get over it and figure them out already. I think the stuff we're going to learn about in Calculus three next semester looks a lot more interesting than the first two courses.

But if college level math was ONLY calculus? I wouldn't be a math major. And I 100% understand why some people end up switching out of STEM when they encounter Calculus.

So far, I like linear algebra a lot more. For some reason, I had to do the first eight weeks of my calc II class before I was allowed to do the accelerated linear algebra class. And I'm five weeks in and... where's the calculus? Idk, but I like this course a lot more than calc. I remember in my History of Math class liking the concepts involving sequences, number theory, and algorithms a lot too. I also like geometry. I've liked algebraic topology ever since hs. I also like the idea of modeling mathematics.

I've had Game theory and Graph theory recommended to me as possible areas of study. Ofc, I'm still brain storming what I should do in grad school, and I'm finding it reassuring that some branches of math seem to be sticking with me. And I mean for long periods of time too. Others, unfortunately, haven't stuck so well. And yeah, I do get hung up on it. I want to have a strong foundation in math and constantly feel like I don't know nearly enough. In all fairness, I probably don't. Idk, I get good grades in the courses but I feel like there's something deeper to understand about all this that I'm just missing. And I don't actually understand all of it. Yet, so far, it's the only major I've tried where I felt like I belonged. Idk why, but with everything else, I felt out of place, couldn't get into the material as much, and I felt like people kind of knew it wasn't for me. I mean, during labs and such, I would kind of look like a dumbass. But with math discussions and essays, I feel more competent.

Ig pure math just ended up being more of my thing. Applied sciences, maybe not so much.

And I really do wish I was pushed to do more math when I was younger. I literally BEGGED my school to let me go further with it. I was always so bored in math class because I'd get everything immediately and be done with the work long before everyone else. But I felt kind of discouraged that they wouldn't let me. I remember not taking school that seriously as a kid. I got good grades still, but could have easily gotten a perfect GPA. I fucked around with standardized testing/never bothered to get good at it when I easily could have. Still got decent test scores in the end. Never studied for tests all that much either. I had to LEARN how to study in college.

Did anyone else feel dissatisfied with grade school? I think it didn't help that I was neurodivergent and had communication issues. And possibly issues with my attention span that went unnoticed (I'm AFAB). I just had no idea what to do with life because quite frankly, I found school discouraging and boring and the world didn't make sense to me.

Idk, this went off topic, but ig I'm trying to say that I'm still finding myself. And considering paths I didn't even know existed until very recently. I think being neurodivegent complicates things a lot because I'm really not on the same wavelength as a lot of people. My brain is different and I learn very differently from a lot of other people.

And in the adult world, this can be a little isolating. I think that's one reason I need to go back on campus for grad school and start talking to other people in my field more. I understand human interaction a lot better than I did as a child (I was borderline non-verbal, and kind of by choice). I can kind of mirror it now and wing it at times? Other times, if I'm, say, tired, I just don't care to mask as much. But I hear lots of mathematicians were really weird, so maybe I'll find some people in grad school who will get me more.

Impact of textile and dye industry liquid and solid waste and amendments on potassium status of soil under sunflower crop

ABSTRACT Gypsum, pressmud, farm yard manure, ETP sludge were tried to ameliorate the textile and dye effluent polluted soil habitat, using sunflower (CO4) as a test crop. The sludge along with effluent irrigation added considerable quantities of cations (calcium, magnesium and sodium) to the soil system. Application of pressmud @ 5 t ha-1 along with 100 per cent GR + NPK reduced the soil ESP by 44.96 per cent. The heavy metal content were also reduced due to addition of pressmud. Higher microbial population was also observed under effluent irrigation than well water. Application of 100 per cent GR + pressmud @ 5 t ha-1 + NPK under effluent irrigation increased the crop growth, yield attributes (head diameter, head weight, seed test weight) and yield of sunflower in effluent polluted soil habitat. The yield under pressmud amended plots was 36 per cent higher over control. Reclamation and restoration of textile dye effluent polluted soil habitat is possible by leaching the soil with 100 per cent GR followed by application of pressmud @ 5 t ha-1 and recommended NPK.

Introduction Textile industries plays important role in human civilization by providing cloths. Many environmental issues are associated with effluent of textile industries.The conventional textile finishing industry requires nearly about 100 l of water to process about 1 kg of textile materials6. Dyeing and printing process consume relatively largest amount of water during textile processes (Butani Naresh 2003). The textile and dye industrial sludge is reported to promote crop growth if added to the soil in quantities below the toxicity limits. Moreover, the land application of industrial sludge provides an effective and environmentally acceptable option of waste disposal to recycle valuable nutrients into the soil plant system (Parameswari and Udayasoorian, 2003) The potential utilization of such wastes can be assessed to some extent based on its composition. Most of the sludge have disadvantages like toxic constituents in the form of heavy metals, carcinogen, fluoride, cyanide etc. Proper recycling of this sludge in an integrated ecofriendly way has become the need of the day.

These sludge materials have been regarded as wastes that require disposal, but now there is a realization that as they are rich in calcium, sulphate, carbonate and potassium, it is worth recycling them for agriculture and other allied fields. Moreover, in order to avoid and reduce the pollution problems encountered by the textile and dye industries, these liquid and solid wastes can be scientifically utilized for agriculture. Hence, the present study was proposed to find scientific ways and means of utilizing the liquid and solid waste of the textile and dye industry for agriculture. Considering the economic importance of the sludge of the textile and dye industry and problems connected with liquid and solid wastes disposal, this study was under taken for assessing various management options for the integrated ecofriendly utilization of the liquid and solid wastes of the textile and dye industry. In the present investigation an attempt has been made to assess the impact of textile and dye industrial effluent on soil and crops. The wastewater from dye industry could successfully be used for irrigation it is possible to prevent river water pollution and also to augment already scarce irrigation water resources (Oblisami and Palaniswami, 1991).

Materials and Methods A field experiment was conducted to assess the effect of dye effluent and sludge on soil fertility and productivity of sunflower. The treatment details are given below. I1 – Well water I2 – Treated textile and dye effluent

The field experiment was initiated at ETP-Senepiratti, Karur, Tamil Nadu. Calculated amount of the amendments as per the treatments including the textile and dye sludge were uniformly spread in the plots and ridges and furrows were formed. Sunflower seeds (CO4) were sown adopting a spacing of 60 x 45 cm. Top dressing of NPK was carried out and irrigated once in a week. Soil samples were drawn at different intervals of field experiment and analysed for various biochemical properties as per the methods described in Table1.

Plant biometric observations were recorded at vegetative stage, flowering stage and at harvest stage. Five plants at random were selected from each plot and tagged. The observations plant height, plant girth and number of leaves were recorded the mean values were calculated. The plant height was measured from the ground level to the tip of the growing point and expressed in cm. Quality characteristics of yield attributes like single head weight (g), Head diameter (cm), 1000 grains weight: 1000 grains of each representative samples were recorded for each treatment and expressed in g. The experimental data were statistically scrutinized to find out the influence of various treatments on the soil properties and crop growth as suggested by Panes and Sukhatme (1955). The critical difference was worked out at five per cent (0.05) probability.

Characterization of effluent and solid waste from textile and dye effluent

Preparation of samples for analysis the sludge samples were shade dried, sieved through 2mm nylon sieve and stored in polythene bags. The samples thus prepared were analysed for their chemical properties (Table 1).

Results and Discussion Field experiment was conducted at Senapirattai, Karur, Tamilnadu, India using sunflower as test crop to assess its phytoremediation efficiency in textile and dye effluent polluted soil habitat. The results obtained from the field study are discussed here under. The pH of the experimental soil was 8.10 with EC of 3.30 dS m-1. The soil available N, P, K contents were 136, 12.9 and 262 kg ha-1, respectively. The organic carbon content was 0.60 per cent. It also had an appreciable amount of exchangeable Ca, Mg, Na and K with the values of 13.3, 9.50, 28.6 and 0.90 cmol (p+) kg-1, respectively. The soil had maximum bacterial population than fungi and actinomycetes. Addition of solid wastes and continuous effluent irrigation were reported to be advantageous to maize crop ecosystem (Parameswari and Udayasoorian, 2003).

Characteristics of textile and dye effluent and well water used for irrigating the experimental crop The effluent used for the study had a pH of 6.23 with dull blue colour and EC of 3.28 dS m-1. It also had an appreciable amount of nitrogen (32.0 mg L-1), phosphorus (28.00 mg L-1) and potassium (1.61 mg L-1). The Ca, Mg and sulphate contents of the effluent were 178, 54.7 and 234 mg L-1, respectively. The characteristics of the well water used for irrigation recorded a pH of 7.55, EC of 1.56 dS m-1. The Ca and Mg contents were 80 and 28.6 mg L-1, respectively.

Initial characteristics of sludge and amendments used for the field experiment

The textile and dye sludge used for the study had a pH of 8.60 and EC of 4.58 dS m-1. The total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contents were 0.18, 0.12, 1.57 percentages respectively. The Ca, Mg, sulphate and carbonate content of the sludge were 17.35, 1.85, 18.6 and 16.34 percentages, respectively. The pH of the press mud, farmyard manure and gypsum were 7.12, 7.38 and 9.78, respectively, whereas the EC values were 1.65, 0.74 and 1.85 dS m-1, respectively. Among the amendments, pressmud had the highest N, P, K of 0.98, 1.87, 0.72 per cent, respectively whereas gypsum recorded 0.18 per cent of phosphorus and the highest Ca and Mg contents of 16.58 per cent and 3.38 per cent, respectively. The lowest Ca and Mg of 1.05 per cent and 0.32 per cent were recorded in farmyard manure.

Soil characteristics as influenced by effluent and amendments The soil pH values at vegetative stage ranged from 7.53 to 8.25. During flowering stage it ranged from 7.92 to 8.52 and at harvest stage it varied from 8.07 to 8.67. The soil reaction increased progressively till at the end of harvest stage. It might be due to continuous effluent irrigation, which was alkaline in nature. Similar increase in soil pH due to effluent irrigation was reported by Vasconcelos and Cabrel (1993). The increase in soil pH due to amendment addition, in the present study corroborates with the findings of Olaniya et al. (1991).

Soil pH increased with advancement of crop growth in the effluent irrigated treatments while under river water the change was not at a considerable level. Similar viewpoints were also expressed by Malathi (2001). The7yu mean EC of soils ranged from 3.37 to 4.23, 3.08 to 4.17 and 2.92 to 4.09 dS m-1 at vegetative, flowering and at harvest stages, respectively. The treatment combination I2T1 recorded the highest EC value and the lowest value was observed in I1T3 at harvest stage. The higher EC in effluent receiving treatments might be due to salt accumulation because of continuous effluent irrigation. The increase in EC might be due to higher Ca and Mg content of sludge. These findings were in line with that of Hameed and Udayasoorian (1999). Effluent irrigation plus 20 t ha-1gypsum recorded maximum germination percentage, shoot length, dry weight of sugar cane settling, and increase in content and uptake of N, P, K, Mn and Zn and also the Fe and Cu (Oblisami and Palanisami, 1991).

Available potassium (K)

Irrigation with effluent increased the available K content. Among the treatments, T5 recorded the maximum mean value (317 kg ha-1) and minimum value of 263 kg ha-1 was observed in T1 (farmers practice) at vegetative stage. The higher amount of potassium in the treated effluent irrigated plots might be due to addition of K present in the effluent. This is also in harmony with the findings of Prabu (2003) who observed an increase in available K status due to mineralization of organic matter. Favourable effect on available K content of soil due to ETP sludge addition was reported by Dhevagi (1996). The available nutrient status decreased at reproductive stage indicating the absorption and conversion of nutrients into plant biomass. (Parameswari and Udayasoorian, 2013) who reported that there was a gradual reduction in available nutrients under effluent irrigation along with solid waste addition. The highest rate of sludge application to soil produced maximum dry matter in maize (Rajarajan, 1978).

Conclusions The polluted soil was reclaimed with gypsum and organic amendments irrigated with effluent and well water. The continuous effluent irrigation had increased soil pH, EC and organic carbon content along with amendments when compared with well water irrigation. The available nitrogen, available phosporus and available potassium were influenced in effluent irrigated soils along with amendments, and the best performance was recorded in 100 per cent GR + pressmud @ 5 t ha-1 + NPK.
