I AM VERY FATIGUED BUT LISTEN the more I look at the 'OH SHIT THEY'RE ALL DEAD' shot in the latest trailer for Tribe Nine the more I find myself saddened at the way Jio and Miu are positioned together.
Tumblr media
It looks like Jio died first, most likely while protecting Miu (what else would this guy be doing let's be honest). And though Miu is known to not really want anything to do with him (at least not reciprocating his romantic feelings for her), it's framed to appear as if her last moments were shielding his dying body before she fell beside him, back-to-back. They have each other's backs to the very end... ow.

So I'm playing Tribe Nine: Initial thoughts
Tumblr media
The latest release from Kazutaka Kodaka/Kotaru Uchikoshi's joint venture, TooKyo Games, is here on mobile devices and Steam. And it's a top-down RPG with retro sprites that transitions into an third-person action system during combat encounters. It also has 3D-rendered Komatsuzaki-style character portraits during dialogue/story segments.
Tumblr media
My initial thoughts:
"XB" baseball isn't totally in the past after all. Despite the official website talking about how XB has been left behind in favor of "XG," you'll find yourself in the middle of an "XB" match after about an hour of play. And it's tutoralized in a way that makes it clear this will be some kind of recurring mechanic. But if you're expecting actual sports-style gameplay... don't. DON'T expect that.
Tumblr media
Baseball matches are basically Danganronpa/Rain Code-style debates/conversations. You (as either pitcher or batter) and your opponent (in the opposite position) exchange dialogue before each pitch. The deciding moment comes when your opponent says something that appears as a massive wall of 3D-rendered text. To throw the best pitch or swing the bat well at the pitch, you have to pick a good response to the opponent's text by moving your "aim" around a grid to see different response. Mind you, during the first matchup, you'll only have ONE choice of response... but it's the tutorial. You'll have more options later on. And obviously, I LOVE to see this.
Tumblr media
The third-person action battles are pretty intense. You really have to get good at determining when you can execute light or strong attacks (the latter taking longer to "wind up"), the latter being necessary to build up meters to execute stronger "ultimate" moves that will do the REAL damage. Enemies are relentless, requiring a lot of dodges and counters. It's well-designed, don't get me wrong. But for someone like me who isn't very experienced in playing action games on a touchscreen, it can feel pretty hard to juggle at times. So although I suppose this is impressive for a mobile game, but I don't personally love handling such intense action on mobile...
The story plays up the life-or-death stakes pretty early on. If you're worried you won't see characters dying in this thing, you can worry no longer; people are definitely going to die. We meet AND lose some members of our crew before "Chapter 1" even starts! But I guess we'll see how often that will occur.
Tumblr media
Don't worry, though; you can still play as dead characters. You're not going to lose a character whose levels you built up just because the story declared them dead. This is explained by giving you access to "holographic" incarnations of the characters. They won't participate in story sequences anymore if they're dead, but they are still controllable on the RPG-style map or in third-person combat. This same excuse also allows you to have people in your party that aren't physically supposed to be present during that par of the story.
The Steam version seems to run like crap right now? I've considered transferring my save file over from my iOS version to my Steam Deck so I can use the button-based controls there. But upon booting up the Steam incarnation of the game, it quickly becomes clear that it's full of freezes and slowdown, so it might not be worth the hassle. Seems like it's not very well-optimized, which might explain why it's currently getting such negative reviews. However, they've already pushed out like four updates in the 48 hours since launch... so hopefully this is going to get cleared up quickly.
There's a gacha element, but it's not clear how much it matters. You can only play with a party of three characters at a time, and you're gifted three to use as soon as you can have a full party. You can use the "Enigma Entity" you collect throughout the game to "pull" for support cards you can equip to your lead trio, OR for all-new characaters. The former is appreciated since equipping these cards can grant different bonuses/benefits in combat... but the latter always unlock at Level 1 when you get them. So that's a major disincentive EVER using characters beyond the starting trio... unless we eventually are given some way to rapid-level them?
This game seems like it's set up to have a distinct ending to its main story. That wouldn't be a first for mobile RPGs, of course... as someone who played Fate/Grand Order and Magia Record before this, I've seen the main narratives conclude while the devs try to keep us engaged via side stories or by creating in-game sequel narratives. But time will tell whether we'll see some kind of extension on Tribe Nine. Perhaps more importantly, how much of the main narrative is currently even available... ?

Revelations - Season One
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: FBI agent Leila Kade faces a profound life change after giving birth to a baby girl, supported by her loving husband. Despite the challenges of motherhood, Leila returns to her role as a dedicated agent a few months later, ready to confront gruesome and haunting cases with her BAU team.
Pairing: BAU!Fem!OC x Male!OC , EVENTUAL Aaron Hotchner x BAU!Fem!OC (Like much later)
Warnings: This story contains mature themes such as sexual content, strong language, violence, mentions of alcohol and drugs, blood, gore, and death. All the usual Criminal Minds stuff. And there is NO CHEATING.
Note 1: I imagine Leila Kade as South Asian but I have decided to let you, the reader, imagine her appearance, hence the reason why I have not given her a face claim. However, her race does not affect the story, whatsoever. You, as the reader, are free to imagine her however you want. If you don't see her as South Asian, then that's fine. It won't affect the storyline. I also imagine the OC!Male as South Asian, but again, it won't affect the storyline.
Note 2: The team will consist of the main cast (Emily, Derek, JJ, Spencer, Penelope, Aaron, and Rossi) but will also include Elle Greenaway and Jason Gideon because they were some of my favorite characters and I wanted to include them with the rest of the team. Basically, Elle and Gideon never leave when Emily and Rossi join.
Note 3: There will be multiple time skips throughout this series. For example, the first chapter will begin on the first season and episode of the show but then there will be a time skip to later episodes (because there are obviously way too many episodes to write this series on and I wanted to include specific episodes that would help the plot of this story). This means that this series will be a slow burn romance but I believe it to be better this way. This will also stray from the actual show a lot, so don't expect it to follow the plot precisely.
Series Masterlist

•• Chapter Four: Derailed

The Reluctance of Love, Pt. 3
I wrote so many drafts for this chapter. But I'm so pleased with how it turned out. I hope you love reading from Altan's POV as much as I loved writing it. He's a little more free and unfiltered in his narrating. Also I'm so sorry that each chapter keeps getting longer!!! I just write and I can't stop until I get to the end! Thank you so much for the lovely comments so far. I'm really really happy to hear that so many of you like these characters.
Orc Male x Half-Elf Male, Fated Mates, Forbidden Love, Slow Burn Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 Word Count: 3,025 (average 23 min read) Content Warnings: mention of mating, mention of masturbation, nothing happens....yet ;) All orcish is from orcishdictionary.com, created by Matt Vancil. Not beta-read. Criticism is welcome, but be sure to distinguish criticism from hate.
Altan POV
One month.
Why in all of the nine hells did I agree to one month?
If I had been smart, I would have said a week. Two at the most.
I was going to go insane.
Ever since I left Drunrag's forge, I could feel him. It was like we were tethered together by an invisible thread and when one of us moved in proximity to the other or further away, we felt the pull and release of that thread. I figured out very quickly that he lived a very structured lifestyle and I started to predict at certain times of the day when I would feel the pull of him.
And every day I would sense it when he would be closer to me and I would hope that maybe he'd follow the pull back to me. To tell me that he changed his mind. That he'd be willing to share one night with me.
Oh Altan, you sap, how quickly you fall for a pretty face.
I knew the symptom's of Drunrag's lordhovid was probably affecting me - I'd like to think of it more as augmenting what I was already naturally feeling...semantics I suppose - but I felt almost immediately that there was something special about Drunrag the moment I saw him.
Gods, how I wanted him. He was...well, everything.
Tall - well over six feet tall and looming. Having stood so near him, I knew he dwarfed me entirely. It felt dangerous, but so alluring.
Dark - Green skin, the shade of deep emerald, textured with dark freckles across his face and on his shoulder. His hair was black, but I caught lines of silver that ran through - it looked to be nothing related to age. It was pulled up into a topknot, but some hairs slipped and strayed into the front of his face. It was tantalizing and begging my fingers to pull his hair free and run through it.
Handsome - Maybe a bit subjective, but truly, he was exactly my type. His height was matched with a thick build, his body possessing muscle and strength that was built to break me, but I just knew he would hold me so gently.  I saw how his piercing grey eyes noticed everything. They darted around him, taking in everything in rapid order. His tusks were pearly white - well maintained. I wanted to feel them on my neck with those large hands holding me in my place. I imagined what it would be like to be ravished by someone like him.
By all appearances, he looked like what most people would see as a dangerous orc - bound by a god-given oath for power and blood. My home was near where an infamous tribe known as the Wolves of Dirge frequently raided and pillaged for sport - but I found that Drunrag was more puppy than wolf, and I loved him for it.
Oh my Drunrag, if you only knew how many ways I dreamed of you ruining me.
I think I need to change the subject.
My symptoms were mostly manageable. I felt feverish and seemed to be sweating more than normal. I found that I was more irritable and easily flustered by any sudden shifts in temperature. The longer the day went on, I would also develop a pounding headache and a strange dull pain in the pit of my stomach. But I managed. I could stave off a bit of heat and discomfort as I needed to.
It was nights that were the worst.
With nothing to distract my mind or body, I would find myself in a frenzy. The first night I kicked my sheets off of the bed - it was far too hot - and I was near panting with frustration. My entire body was on fire, it felt like it would burn through the bed and I gasped and panted for air, for release.
My mind could only stray to one thing that could take it away: Drunrag.
Whether he believed it or not, I believed him to be something special to me. I avoided calling him my mate, as that would make him uncomfortable to call him that, but I knew there was a connection between us. I wished he could have seen it as clearly as I did.
But he didn't, and I was alone to comfort myself.
As the nights passed one by one, my self-control was dwindling. Each night, I could only see Drunrag in my head. I could close my eyes and imagine his weight as he settled next to me, laying so that my back was pressed against his chest. I imagined his arms snaking around my waist and pulling me towards him. His hot breath against my neck as he whispered to me how wonderful I smelled.
I wondered what he smelled like. Damn, Altan, you should have caught a whiff before you promised to leave him alone for a month.
No. No. Actually, that would have made things so much worse.
My mind refocused on the vision in my head and I imagined his large - such large hands - close over mine and bring them up to my chest where he would curl in and hold me close and let me feel his weight around me as we both fell into a fitful slumber.
Meanwhile, imagining this only brought me an edge of desperation as I stretched out on my empty bed which had no handsome orc man to hold me.
I couldn't deal with this lust alone. Not without him. Not without help. The only comfort I had was his name. His beautiful name.
Drunrag. Drunrag. Drunrag.
Drun.
If I was lucky, I could call him that as he held me. I would say it so sweetly to him, I would never say it in anger. I would hold him in return, his head on my lap as I played with his hair and told him all the gentle things no one ever told him.
Drun, you're so handsome, so stunningly handsome. Drun you're hands are so gentle, I know you could take such good care of me. My Drun, you make my head spin with want. Drun let me touch your hair again.
I laid alone in that bed, wanting, wishing, regretting.
In desperation I tried to pleasure myself, imagining my hands to be equal to Drunrag's - they weren't - and urging the lust to spill over enough to let me rest. I could feel the pressure building between my legs and I began to breathe harder, Drun's name on my lips as I worked myself harder.
But in the end, my body would not release. I could not be satisfied or sated. My body didn't want my own self-pleasure. It wanted Drun. I wanted Drun. If my father had seen me in such a state...I dared to hope that it would kill him with shock.
Why did I agree to a month of this?
I woke the next morning with a headache I could not abate and my body flushed with heat that would not go away, even after burying myself in cold water in the bathhouse.
It had only been four days at that point.
There was no way in any hell that I would be able to last another 26 days like this. Not only was it that I couldn't live like this, but I also wouldn't. My standards were too high to accept this much sweat from so little labour. I stumbled out of the room in the Inn I was staying at, gave a slight polite nod to the innkeeper as I shuffled out.
I'm sure I looked like absolute shit. And for the first time in a long time, I really couldn't give a shit how I looked.
I needed a bath, I needed a meal, I needed to change my clothes. In fact, I needed to leave this town before I stumbled into one of my father's goons.
But I also needed to see Drun again. My body couldn't take it. I followed the pull, not minding who I rammed or tripped into as I got there. I wound through busy streets and ascended down to the lower part of the city near the coast. We weren't anywhere near where his forge was.
I found myself on the docks of the town. The smell of fish and salt-sea air overwhelmed my lungs. It was enough to make a man puke if you weren't prepared for it. Which I wasn't and I found myself flung over the the edge of a dock and heaving my guts out.
"You 'right?" A voice called from behind me.
I wiped my mouth clean and looked up. The morning sun was shining just enough to block any features of the man. I couldn't see much of him besides a rotund silhouette and a tricorn hat sitting askew atop his head. Sailor folk, I could only presume.
"Fine." I said. I wiped my mouth and struggled to my feat.
"Oh, ain't you dressed fine for a day out on the docks." He whistled low. "Fancy."
Not really, I thought. These clothes had gone two days without wash. Though, in hindsight, that's probably much more often than that man ever washed his clothes. I blinked the sun from my eyes and took a closer look.
He was a short, round man with a twinkle in his stark blue eyes. A pipe was in one hand, and the other rested calmly against a pistol on his hip. His shocking white hair and deep wrinkles revealed a man with many years behind him on the sea. He seemed friendly enough.
I smiled back at him, it was nice to have a friend. "I'm looking for a friend of mine. You wouldn't have happened to see an orc gentleman pass by, would you?"
The man pondered for a minute, then shook his head. "Don't believe I have." He narrowed his eyes and looked at me more closely. "What would a fine young lad like you be doin' with orc folk?" He looked me up and down and I saw his eyes lock back onto my face. Something about me triggered and his friendly expression fell. "Oi...you match the description of that Duke's son that's gone missin'. You wouldn't 'appen to know anything about that, would'ya?"
I shook my head, forcing my best grin. "Handsome lad I've heard, but that's all I've gleaned from the gossip." I sidled my foot towards where I felt Drun's presence and began to slide away.
"Now, now son." The man's voice was low now, not remotely friendly in tone. I felt a chill run down my spine before my body began to burn even hotter than before. "The Duke's got a generous reward for anyone who brings his son back home. I ain't partin' with you till I know for sure." His fingers graces the wooden handle of his pistol and he tilted his head, a knowing smile on his face. "If I'm wrong, we split and pretend this never happened."
This man wouldn't hesitate to shoot if I ran, I sensed.. I wondered if my father had put dead or alive on that prize money. He'd likely be relieved to be rid of me.
The smile on my face fell as I realized the trouble I was in. I hadn't expected word to spread so fast.
Then again, I also hadn't expected to stay in this town as long as I did.
Damn you, Altan.
"Sir, please." I said, pleading. "I'm not going back to Durbesk. Help me and I'll double the price my father has offered."
The man clicked his tongue and shook his head. "With what funds? You ain't got shit on you."
He was right, the gold I brought to pay for my room and board was nearly gone and it wouldn't even begin to cover the price my father demanded for my return.
I felt my heart race inside me. I couldn't go back to my father. Fear and panic set in as I saw the man take a step towards me, his pistol now pointed at me.
"As a precaution" He said, his tone was friendly, but I saw the glint in his eye was now a look of wicked greed.
My cries would fall on deaf ears if I begged to him. It wouldn't matter that my father hated my existence and wished me to be a different sort of son. One who would obey him, who aspired to be just like him with a pride and ego that outmatched anyone else. Who was arrogant and spoiled. Who believed money, stature and reputation was more important than music, art, and the simple pleasures in life.
He wanted a son that wouldn't kiss boys behind stables when they were fifteen. A son that wouldn't smile so much and laugh too loud. That wouldn't bring home rodents as pets and nurse them back to health and cry when they died. He had always wanted someone more tough, more heartless and brave than me.
No, this man wouldn't hear any of that. He could care less what sort of nightmares I faced at home at the expense of my father's disappointment and hate in me. And he wouldn't care that the only person who truly loved me - my beautiful mother - was gone and buried in an unmarked grave so that I could never find her.
My mother thought I was perfect the way I was, and told me so. She never wanted me to stop smiling or laughing. She told me my music was beautiful and that it reminded her of her home in the Silverwood. She told me that I was beautiful. Everything I loved about myself I got from her. My eyes, my hair, my heart.
I wish someone would understand how much I missed her. How much I wanted to be with her instead of here...running away from my life to start over away from my father. Away from everything that reminded me of her.
I bowed my head, fighting back the hot tears that I felt brimming at my eyes. Why was I crying at a time like this?
"Please." I said, faint and breathless. "Don't make me go back."
The man looked like he was about to laugh at me, when I suddenly felt the warmth of someone's presence behind me. The shadow of his height fell over me and I whirled around to see him.
Drunrag.
My Drun.
His eyes were like deep silver pools, blazing with the heat I knew was smoldering inside him. He didn't look at me, his eyes were instead trained on the man. I looked down and saw his hands were clenched into tight fists. Under each of his arms was a barrel, which he carefully set down on the dock on either side of him, then rising again to his full height.
"You're his friend?" The man asked, a sour tone in his voice that I didn't like one bit.
Drunrag didn't answer, only sniffed contemptuously before taking a step towards him, shifting around me so that he didn't come close to touching me. I still felt the sizzling heat between us.
"You have no business being here." Drunrag said. His voice was heavy and low, rumbling his chest that reminded me of bear's growl. My body reacted to it strongly and I stumbled back, unsteady and wavering.
"Yeah? And what's your business with him?"
"None of your concern." Drun's voice was level and calm, but I could sense the mounting pressure inside.
"You just want the money for yourself." The man protested, pointing his gun at Drun. My heart began to pound faster. Don't shoot him. Oh gods please, don't shoot him.
"I saw him first." Drun responded. "We can fight on it, if you wish." He cracked his neck side to side, then clenched and unclenched his fists. Muscles, tight from his tense posture, rippled and reacted to his movements. The man's eyes were on them and I watched gleefully as his pistol lowered to his side and his face fell open.
Drun continued. "Get lost...or I'll be cracking each of your finger one...by...one until your bones are ground to dust." He cocked his head. "Won't be much use on a ship with boneless fingers."
Oh dear gods above...that shouldn't have affected me when he said that, should it? I looked down at the barrel and decided it was for the best to take a seat on it. I needed to catch my breath.
"Stupid piece of shit, is what you are." The man spat, "Green shit straight from a horse's soured stomach. Cross my path again and you're gonna see a bullet right between your puny eyes."
I had never wish a person dead or suffering greater than this man. I rose to my feet, rage radiating off me.
Drun turned back at me, his eyes flashing and a deep frown on his face. "Stay back." His voice cracked. "I can handle this." He turned back and asked calmly. "Have you anything else to say before I punch out your teeth?"
The man shook his head and turned away from us, mumbling threats and insults as he shuffled away. Drunrag stood still, tensed and ready for any retaliation.
When the man was gone, he finally turned back. I looked up to meet his gaze, my thanks and gratitude on my lips when I saw he wouldn't look at me. Instead, he walked passed me and retrieved his barrels before turning and beginning the walk off the docks towards the main part of the city.
"Drunrag." I breathed out. I shuddered to hear his name out loud like that. I wanted to say it loud and open like that all the time, for it was the name of my beloved. My hero. My fated partner.
"Don't." He said, his voice dark. "I'm doing everything I can to stop this from affecting us. Give me time and stay away as much as possible." He finally turned, his eyes were still fierce as he looked at me. "Please don't get into trouble again. I don't want to see you hurt."
He walked away from me, barrels in hands. I watched him walk away.
What could I say to him to make him stay?
I remembered then what he told me in the beginning. He didn't want to mate. He made the choice to not do it. It was never about me.
Whatever made me think that I could convince him that I was worth changing his mind for?
I bowed my head, I couldn't bear to see him walk away from me.

Jujutsu Kaisen's Power System
Tumblr media
Welcome to the newly restored Power System Breakdown. My deepest apologies for accidentally deleting it. Hopefully I can make up for that by updating it with some of the information we've learned since it was first posted. (Spoiler Warning up to chapter 227!)
As always, all information in this breakdown is taken directly from either Jujutsu Kaisen's manga (including Vol. 0) or the official Jujutsu Kaisen Fanbook.
Now let's begin with a few definitions.
Cursed Spirits
Cursed Spirits (or simply, Curses) are beings created from the Cursed Energy that humans output in response to strong negative emotions. Stronger or older Curses tend to be sentient, but not all are.
Flyheads
Flyheads are Cursed Spirits that do not have enough Cursed Energy to be considered proper Curses. They are also not strong enough to be placed on the ranking scale for Curses.
Sorcerers
Sorcerers are humans that use Cursed Energy. You do not have to have a Technique to be considered a Sorcerer.
Curse Users
Curse Users are Sorcerers that have used Cursed Energy or their Cursed Technique to harm or kill non-Sorcerers.
Assistant Managers
Assistant Managers are Sorcerers that do not possess enough Cursed Energy to fight Curses. Also called Windows, they work as intermediaries for the higher-ups and take on the responsibility of teaching the students non-Jujutsu related subjects during schooling.
Higher-Ups
Higher-Ups are Sorcerers that make up the core governing body of the Jujutsu world. As of Chapter 223, the only known and still-living member is Yoshinobu Gakuganji.
Non-Sorcerers
Non-Sorcerers are everyday humans that cannot or do not use Cursed Energy.
Clans
Clans are families with a long history of Sorcerers within their bloodline. There are four known Clans; Inumaki, Kamo, Gojo and Zenin. The latter three make up the Big Three Clans and hold significant political power within Jujutsu society.
Tumblr media
Ranking:
Grades 4 to 1
All Sorcerers and Cursed Spirits are ranked on an ascending scale from 4 to 1 with 4 being relatively weak and 1 being incredibly strong. Sorcerers are always ranked to be slightly stronger than a Curse of the same grade.
Special Grades
Special Grades are the highest rank you can achieve within Jujutsu society. There are only 4 known Special Grade Sorcerers and 16 known Special Grade Curses.
Special Grade Potential Cursed Spirits
Special Grade Potential Cursed Spirits are Special Grade Curses that have not been confirmed to exist or have not been registered with the higher-ups. The Nature Curses (Mahito, Hanami, Jogo & Dagon) as well as mythic creatures like the Nine Tailed Fox all fall under this category.
Special Grade 1 Sorcerers
Special Grade 1 Sorcerers (or Supreme Grade 1 Sorcerers) are titles held by Sorcerer's that have collaborated with the Jujutsu Technical College. This title does not mean that they are stronger than a Grade 1 Sorcerer.
Promotions
Promotions to a higher rank cannot be given by the person in charge of you (i.e. a teacher) and before your rank is changed an assessment must be held. Sorcerers in the assessment phase of a promotion are given a Semi-Grade. (For example, Inumaki is a Semi-Grade 1 Sorcerer. His promotion was placed on hold after the Shibuya Incident.)
Tumblr media
The Basics:
Cursed Energy
Cursed Energy is energy created by negative emotions. It can be used by both Sorcerers and Curses to strengthen physical attacks or to reinforce their body and guard against incoming damage. All humans are born with a base amount of it, but few humans outside of Japan possess enough to actively use it, with the exception of Miguel and the tribe of Sorcerers in Africa that make the black rope.
Positive Energy
Positive Energy is essentially the opposite of Cursed Energy. Not much is known about Positive Energy beyond the fact it is not the same as Reverse Cursed Energy. It has only been used by the Ten Shadows shikigami, Mahoraga, at this point in the series.
Reverse Curse Energy
Reversed Cursed Energy is Cursed Energy that has been multiplied upon itself to emit a positive feedback. It is typically used in Reverse Cured Techniques to heal but it can be used instead of normal Cursed Energy to power a Cursed Technique. Doing so results in a  Cursed Technique Reversal, like Gojo’s Limitless: Red.
Cursed Techniques
Cursed Techniques are abilities that are written into your DNA at the time of your birth and require Cursed Energy to use. They usually manifest when you’re around five or six years old, but can be unlocked later in life by rewiring the necessary pathways within your brain. These pathways are typically blocked for non-Sorcerers, but that does not mean they don’t have a technique; they just aren’t aware of it and can’t use it.
Mahito unlocks Junpei’s Cursed Technique using his Idle Transfiguration in Chapter 21. Kenjacku later does this same thing in Chapter 136 to prep selected individuals for their involvement in the Culling Games.
Residuals
Residuals are trace amounts of Cursed Energy left behind after a Curse or Sorcerer uses their Technique. Think of them like fingerprints at a crime scene, but keep in mind that skilled users can hide or change their residuals to throw others off their trail.
Geto does this in Chapter 0.1 to conceal his involvement at the elementary school; Mahito also does this in Chapter 20 to lure out Yuuji and Nanami.
Cursed Corpses
Cursed Corpses are inanimate objects that have been imbued with a non-Special Grade curse. Cursed Corpses that exist naturally are hostile towards humans, but they can be created by Sorcerers by placing a core into an object to act as its heart. Artificial Cursed Corpses can act independently of the Sorcerer that created them until the Cursed Energy within its core runs out.
Muta and Yaga both have the ability to create Cursed Corpse, with the former preferring to use mechs while the latter typically uses dolls.
Abrupt Mutated Cursed Corpses
Abrupt Mutated Cursed Corpses are Cursed Corpses that have replenishing cores of Cursed Energy. This is achieved by copying the soul information of a (recently deceased) human being into three compatible cores instead of simply creating one core using Cursed Energy. These three cores will then monitor and regulate each other, ensuring that the Corpse remains stable and granting it sentience. Additionally, it takes three months for these Corpses to gain the ability to produce their own Cursed Energy.
Panda, along with Takeru and the other Cursed Corpses seen in Chapter 147 are all Abrupt Mutated Cursed Corpses.
Tumblr media
Techniques:
Inherited Techniques
Inherited Techniques are techniques passed down through your family or bloodline. Information on these techniques are often a closely kept secret, with training of new users falling to the responsibility of older users if they are alive to do so.
Gojo's Limitless, Naobito & Naoya's Projection Sorcery, Mai & Yorozu's Construction, and Nobara's Straw Doll are all Inherited Techniques.
Clan Techniques
Clan Techniques are extremely rare Inherited Techniques within the Jujutsu world and are highly prized within their respective Clans for how strong they are. They typically appear every few hundred to a thousand years and so far have never manifested outside a Clan's main bloodline.
Gojo's Six Eyes, Choso and Noritoshi's Blood Manipulation, Megumi's Ten Shadows and Inumaki's Cursed Speech are all Clan Techniques.
Innate Techniques
Innate Techniques are specific to the person that was born with them, i.e. they cannot or have not been inherited through a user's bloodline. It has yet to be confirmed if Innate Techniques transfer to a new "host" if the Sorcerer born with them dies before it is inherited; it's likely that they simply cease to exist.
Geto's Curse Manipulation, Nanami's 7:3 Ratio, Todo's Boogie Woogie and Sukuna's Dismantle are all Innate Techniques.
Maximum Techniques
Maximum Techniques are one of the strongest abilities that a Technique User can have and require a high level of mastery to achieve. These are not limited to a specific type; both users of Innate or Inherited Techniques can have them, depending on what Technique they possess.
Geto's Maximum Uzumaki, Jogo's Maximum Meteor and Eso's Maximum Wing King are all Maximum Techniques
Reverse Cursed Technique
Reverse Cursed Technique is the ability to heal yourself or others using Reverse Cursed Energy. It comes easier to Curses than it does Sorcerers due to them being born from Cursed Energy, but it is not impossible for Sorcerers to learn to use it as well.
Shoko, Yuuta, Kenjaku, Uraume, Gojo, Yuki, and Sukuna can all use Reverse Cursed Technique on themselves. With the exception of Gojo, they can all use it on others as well. Gojo is the only character at this point in the series that has used RCT to restore his own Cursed Energy, at the cost of being able to heal his body while doing so.
Combat Techniques
Combat Techniques are physical attacks that Sorcerers imbue with Cursed Energy to achieve a desired effect. Despite the strength of these types of attacks, they are rarely used, with most Sorcerers preferring to use simple hand-to-hand combat, Cursed Tools or their own Cursed Technique.
Yuuji's Divergent Fist and Panda's Unblockable Drumming Beat are both Combat Techniques.
Black Flash
Black Flash is a Combat Technique that can only be achieved when Cursed Energy is added to the impact of a physical attack within one one millionth (0.00001) of a second. This will result in spatial distortion as the Cursed Energy flashes black and multiplies the attack's output by 2.5 of its original strength.
Yuuji, Todo, Ino, Utahime, Nanami, Gojo, Mahito and Nobara have all performed Black Flashes. Yuuji and Nanami are tied for the record of consecutive Black Flashes at 4 in a row.
Tumblr media
Barrier Techniques:
Barrier Techniques (or simply, Barriers) are techniques that allow a user to create a wall, dome or sphere around an intended area to conceal the User or trap an opponent. Despite being one of the most common and easy to use Techniques, they have a very high skill ceiling with both Sorcerers and Curses rarely mastering them fully.
Curtains
Curtains are fairly simple Barrier Techniques that are often used by Assistant Managers to conceal Sorcerers from the public during missions. That being said, both Sorcerers and Curses can create them or imbue them into Cursed Objects.
Commissioned Curtains
Commissioned Curtains are Barrier Techniques created in advance and stored within stakes. They can have conditions set upon them when they are made, such as rule that blocks or allows the entry of specific individuals or groups of individuals.
Innate Domains
Innate Domains are Barrier Techniques constructed within a user's mind. (This is where Sukuna held his discussion with Yuuji after his death in chapter 9 and what allows him to keep his soul separate from Yuuji's within their shared body.) Manifesting an Innate Domain into the physical world using Cursed Energy is how a Sorcerer creates a Domain Expansion.
Domain Expansions
Domain Expansions are highly advanced Barrier Techniques that are created within the physical world in the likeness of the user's Innate Domain. With the exception of Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine, all complete Domain Expansions will erect a Barrier around the user and have the user's Cursed Technique imbued within them. This grants the Technique a guaranteed hit against an opponent as well as a buff to the strength of their Cursed Technique so long as they are within the Domain.
Domain Battles
Domain Battles are essentially a fight of wills between the Domains of two users. Entering into one of these battles is extremely risky as the stronger and more refined Domain will always win, but you can enter into a Domain Battle to force a hole into the Barrier of your opponent's Domain in order to escape. (Megumi does this in chapter 108.)
Entering into a Domain Battle will always deactivate the guaranteed hits for both user's Techniques as long as both Domain's are active. This does not remove the passive buff to either users' Techniques that is granted within the Domains.
Incomplete Domains
Incomplete Domains are Domain Expansions that exist in the physical world but do not have a barrier around them or a Technique imbued within them. The main disadvantage here is that the user loses their Technique's buff in strength and the guaranteed hit.
Domain Amplification
Domain Amplification is a Barrier Technique that covers the user in a fluid Domain with similar properties to a Domain Expansion. They are used to neutralize any and all Techniques that come in contact with it before they reach the user.
Hanami and Jogo use this technique against Gojo in chapter 84 to neutralize Limitless. Sukuna does the same in chapter 225.
Anti-Barrier Techniques:
Anti-Barrier Techniques are an area that a user creates to counter Domain Expansions, but they can also be used independently to counter incoming attacks without an Expansion being present. Additionally, there are two main types of Anti-Barrier Techniques, Secret Art and Simple Domains. Both can be used defensively and offensively depending on the user's wishes.
Secret Art
Secret Art is an Anti-Barrier Technique that creates a fluid "armor" of Cursed Energy around the user similar to how Domain Amplification coats the user in a fluid Domain. Instead of having a set radius, it only protects the user's immediate body from damage.
This Technique only remains active so long as it is being powered by Cursed Energy and can be overwhelmed with multiple rapid attacks.
Falling Blossom Emotion
Falling Blossom Emotion is a style of Secret Art that automatically counter-attacks incoming enemies, weapons and projectiles as soon as they touch it's field of Cursed Energy. It does this by reading and immediately matching an incoming attack's Cursed Energy to nullify it using a blow of equal force. If the incoming attack is strong enough to surpass it, the Technique will instead reduce a percentage of the damage taken by the user.
The training required to use this technique is a close kept secret within the Big Three clans. As such, it has only been used by Satoru Gojo, Naobito Zenin, and Ogi Zenin at this point in the series. In Ogi's case, he extended the Technique to cover his sword as well as his body during his fight with Maki in chapter 148.
Simple Domains
Simple Domains are Anti-Barrier Techniques that create a Barrier around the user in a set radius. They were originally created in the Heian Era by Sadatsuna Ashiya with the intention of passing them down through his family in secret and given the name "Domain For The Weak."
Ui Ui, Todo, Miwa and Kusakabe have all used Simple Domains at various points in the series with the latter two using Simple Domain: New Shadow Style specifically.
Hollow Wicker Basket
Hollow Wicker Basket is a precursor to Simple Domain. As such it is less refined, requiring the user to extend their arms and interlock their fingers to activate it. Taking the form of a woven basket in the shape of a sphere, it neutralizes the barrier of a Domain Expansion rather than the Cursed Technique would be imbued into it. Since it does not target the Technique itself, it is considered useless against Incomplete and non-lethal Expansions.
Reggie Star used this technique against Megumi's incomplete Domain in chapter 171. Hajime Kashimo considered using it during his fight with Hakari Kinji in chapter 187, but ultimately decided against it since Hakari's Domain does not outright attack his opponents.
New Shadow Style
New Shadow Style is a Simple Domain that incorporates iaijutsu sword stances into its deployment. Doing so requires that the full stance is completed (draw, strike, clean the blade, re-sheathe) with the user being granted an automatic attack with their blade in return as soon as the radius of the Domain's barrier is crossed. (Note: this attack can be avoided if your opponent is fast enough. It is not a guaranteed hit like what you'd see with Domain Expansions.)
Miwa unsuccessfully uses New Shadow Style three times during the Goodwill Event, with Yuuji dodging the automatic attack the first time and Maki forcing her out of her starting position before her sword could be drawn the second time. With the third use, Maki triggered the automatic attack with a kunai before crossing the barrier herself.
Gojo uses New Shadow Style twice during his fight with Sukuna, creating a safe space within Malevolent Shrine so that he could heal his body, then his Cursed Technique, respectively.
Batto Sword Drawing
Batto Sword Drawing is a stance (iai-goshi) of New Shadow Style that coats the user's sword in Cursed Energy. Doing so significantly increases the sword's drawing speed and sets it's automatic hit to target whatever opponent is in front of the user. This is the fastest technique within New Shadow Style.
Kusakabe used this stance in chapter 115 against two Curse Users, killing them instantly. He used it again in chapter 134 to successfully counter Kenjaku's use of Geto's Maximum Uzumaki.
Evening Moon Sword Drawing
Evening Moon Sword Drawing is another stance (tachi-ai) of New Shadow Style. The conditions and effects of this stance are still unknown.
Kusakabe started to use this stance in chapter 114 but was interrupted by Sukuna's fight with Jogo.
Tumblr media
Binding Vows:
Binding Vows are contracts made using Cursed Energy. These Vows can be made with yourself or with someone else, but they also occur naturally within the Jujutsu world. The effects of breaking a Binding Vow made with others is still unknown and something that both powerful Cursed Spirits and Sorcerers prefer to avoid. That being said, breaking one made with yourself will only result in you losing whatever you gained from the contract.
Binding Vows can be added to Barrier Techniques to strengthen the Barrier or to meet certain conditions that the user sets in the contract.
Overtime
Overtime is a Binding Vow that Nanami made with himself to limit his Cursed Energy during his normal working hours. If he is still on a mission once 6:00 PM hits, his output of Cursed Energy will greatly increase and in turn, make all of his attacks stronger.
Enchain
Enchain is a Binding Vow with three conditions that Sukuna made with Yuuji in chapter 11 in exchange for bringing him back to life. The first condition is that once Sukuna chants "enchain" he will gain full control of Yuuji's body for one minute. The second condition is that Yuuji will have no memory of making this vow. The third is that Sukuna will not kill or harm anyone during the minute he has control.
Malevolent Shrine
While not a Binding Vow itself, Malevolent Shrine is an example of a Binding Vow being placed upon a Barrier Technique. In exchange for creating an escape route for his opponent by not placing a Barrier when he manifests his Innate Domain, Sukuna's Domain Expansion gains a larger area of effect for his Technique's guaranteed hit with a maximum radius of 200 meters.
Revealing Cursed Techniques
Revealing Cursed Techniques is a Binding Vow that exists naturally within the Jujutsu world. In exchange for giving your opponent information on how your Technique works, your Technique is given a boost in strength. Using this Binding Vow is risky, but also completely voluntary.
Heavenly Restriction
Heavenly Restriction is another naturally occurring Binding Vow, but one that is involuntarily placed upon certain individuals at birth. What is gained and lost from this Vow varies from person to person. For example, Muta gained massive amounts of Cursed Energy and a wider area of effect at the cost of his body while Maki & Toji gained super-humans bodies at the cost of their Cursed Energy.
Tumblr media
Cursed Tools:
Cursed Tools are weapons or support items that have had a set amount of Cursed Energy or a Cursed Technique channeled into them. That being said, simply channeling Cursed Energy or a Cursed Technique into a weapon or item does not automatically make it a Cursed Tool if that is not its default state.
Miwa and Kusakabe's swords do not always have a set amount of Cursed Energy within them while Yuuta's does. Yuuta's sword would be considered a Cursed Tool while the other's aren't.
Additionally, all Cursed Tools are given a rank from 4 to 1 depending on the strength of their Technique or the amount of Cursed Energy stored within them. Higher ranked Tools are more powerful and rare, and therefore, more valuable. Tools owned by Clans are usually stored within the Clan’s own warehouse or leant to the the Tokyo Jujutsu school and stored within the warehouse there for safekeeping.
Special Grade Cursed Tools
Special Grade Cursed Tools are Cursed Tools that have a Special Grade Cursed Technique imbued into them. These are the rarest and strongest Cursed Tools that you can possess, with each having their own specific abilities when used.
Playful Cloud is the only Special Grade Cursed Tool that does not possess a Cursed Technique. Originally belonging to the Gojo Clan, it instead scales infinitely to match the strength of the person using it.
Black Rope
Black Rope is a Cursed Tool that negates any Cursed Energy or Cursed Technique that it comes in contact with for a brief time. Despite this, it is not considered a Special Grade Cursed Tool due to it's Technique not being derived from a Special Grade Cursed Technique.
Sword of Extermination
The Sword of Extermination is a Cursed Tool that uses Positive Energy instead of Cursed Energy. The strength of it's attacks will scale to match whatever Cursed Energy it comes in contact with, allowing it to destroy any and all Cursed Spirits that it hits.
This Cursed Tool is one of the two swords used by the Ten Shadows shikigami, Mahoraga. It has not been ranked as Mahoraga has never been tamed by a Ten Shadows user.
Cursed Objects:
Cursed Objects are items or artifacts with a Curse bound to them and are typically created from the remains of Sorcerers or Cursed Spirits. These Objects can exist alone or be used to bind other Cursed Objects and are ranked in the same way that Cursed Tools are. They can also operate under their own sentience, depending on their strength and age.
Talismans
Talismans (or Fulu) are Cursed Objects that take the form of paper tags. Using the Cursed Spirit within them, they are able to restrain and preserve the Cursed Energy of the Cursed Object that they are wrapped around. (Basically, fight fire with fire. Or Curses with Curses.) That being said, this method of preserving Cursed Objects is outdated, as eventually the Talismans will age and mutate to attract Cursed Spirits to whatever Object they are set to protect.
Commissioned Curtains are often wrapped in Talismans to help them maintain the effects of the Curtain before its use.
Special Grade Cursed Objects
Special Grade Cursed Objects are Cursed Objects created from the remains of a Special Grade Curse or Sorcerer. They are extremely rare and cannot be destroyed, allowing them to grow stronger over time. When one of these Objects is consumed by a Cursed Spirit, that Curse will become a Special Grade as well.
Sukuna’s Fingers
Sukuna’s Fingers are the remains of the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna. There are twenty Fingers in total, each with their own will and sentience that allows them to choose their host. Due to their vast amounts of Cursed Energy, they can attract other Cursed Spirits to them in an attempt to be consumed. Curses that eat one of these fingers become Special Grade Curses known as Finger Bearers.
Prison Realm
Prison Realm is a living Barrier created from the remains of the Buddhist monk Genshin (also known as Eshin Sozu.) This Cursed Object is capable of storing anything and everything within a timeless pocket dimension so long as the target remains within a four meter radius for a specific amount of time. That being said, Prison Realm can only hold one occupant at a time and it cannot be used again until that individual is released or takes their own life.
Cursed Wombs
Cursed Wombs are uterus-like Cursed Objects that eventually produce a Cursed Spirit. Depending on the strength of the Cursed Spirit they can grow and change their form, with Special Grade Curses typically going through the most changes. While not often, Cursed Wombs can be sentient themselves before they evolve into Cursed Spirits.
Dagon is considered a Cursed Womb up until he manifests as a Special Grade Cursed Spirit during his fight against Maki, Naobito and Nanami in chapter 106.
Cursed Wombs: Death Paintings
Cursed Womb: Death Paintings are a type of Cursed Womb that were created during the Meiji era by Kenjaku (then known as Noritoshi Kamo) using the aborted fetuses of a woman that could give birth to half-Curse half-human children. There are nine Death Paintings in total, with three of them becoming Special Grade Cursed Spirits upon their “birth.”
Choso, Eso and Kechizu are the only three Death Paintings that have become Cursed Spirits so far, with the remaining six still stored within the warehouse at the Tokyo Jujutsu school. Eso and Kechizu were killed by Yuuji and Nobara at the end of the Death Painting Arc.

And we're done!
I hope that this helped clarify some of the concepts within the manga for you or gave you some new info to think about. Reblogs are greatly appreciated, as I would prefer to have this restored and updated version take the place of the previous (now-unavailable) one.
Thank you for reading! 🖤

Slides in hey Neo. You heard of the recent story ending of chapter 2?
Were screwed for. (If you don't know. The Sui happened.)
Just wanna quickly say that I have not seen any of chapter 2 yet besides the trailer for it! So please don't send me spoilers until I give the signal! However, I am indeed aware of Sui's role in chapter 2, but only to the extent of what was shown in the trailer. I'm very interested to see where this goes in the story. Whether they'll let Sui be redeemed or we find out this is a clone or he just straight up gets killed, I'll be here for it!

Flashfire - Chapter 1, Preview
At sunrise, Korra is startled awake. Eyes snapping open with a mechanical click, akin to a puppet coming to life per their master’s command. The world is black, complete darkness, and then: showtime, baby! Start dancing! The clock on the nightstand reads five o’ clock—little hand on twelve, big hand on five. Red hand striking her chest with every tick, tick, tick, until the apprehension sinks deep and seizes her heart with a jolt.
At this exact moment, the clouds start to disperse slowly. Making way for the sun to crawl over Mount Makapu and reveal itself from behind its snowy peaks. It’s reflection flaring menacingly across the bay, aiming a long, accusatory finger through the frail bedroom curtains. Angry and damning. You can’t hide anymore. You will be seen.
Korra turns over and listens to the waves crashing gently against the cliffside. A far cry from the white noise of the South Pole’s whistling winds. Located on an islet adjacent to Air Temple Island, the Avatar’s Private Quarters is a modest two-story home. Immediately familiar: moderately grand, yet simple. Humble. One that sat wallowing under a blanket of dust for years, per Air Nomad superstition, until recently, awaiting her arrival. An act that her mother would—and still—detests.
“You haven’t been home in nine years.” Her first line upon hearing the news. It was supposed to be a compromise: Senna demanded that she visit, not stay, in Republic City, in her firm hope that Korra would reconsider, and put her spiritual training on hold. But the White Lotus didn’t care; learning under the son of Avatar Aang took precedent over any familial attachments bent on keeping her with the tribe. And Korra agreed.
It was supposed to be a compromise, but Senna didn’t see it that way. To Senna, it was a punishing whim on Korra’s part. As if it had always been her intention to run away as soon as the opportunity presented itself, and aligning with the White Lotus over her own family was just a nasty, selfish twist of the knife in a still fresh wound.

Hosea: Unfaithfulness (IX)
When God Lets Go (9:1-17) Neal Pollard If we wonder why God chose to use a harlot like Gomer to represent Israel, all we need to do is read the inspired indictment in chapter nine. Again using Ephraim, the largest tribe, to represent the northern kingdom, God lays out the unfaithfulness of His people in the multitudinous ways they were guilty. In verse one, he explicitly accuses Israel, saying,…

I've officially decided how many books will be in my book series, Tribal along with the general plot of each. There will be nine including the prequel for the lore.
If you don't want spoilers don't read the next part idk (skip to the --- for next info without spoilers)
Book one focuses on finding out about The Creator and the tribes and rebuilding them. This is in Aleina's pov
Book two focuses on The Creator explaining who they truly are, Elka, the original tribe leader. They tells the current leaders about how they need to find the other original tribe members to help the gods being peace and bring back the tribes entirely. This is in Kayla's pov
Book three focuses back on Kevin, the villain of books 1-4. He will make a comeback trying to erase the tribes fully. This is in Ava's pov
Book four focuses on starting to learn more about the origins of the tribes and stopping Kevin. This is in Alex's pov
Book five focuses on Kevin's redemption arc and how he truly just wants no one to be able to harm him or his family again after his mom getting killed by someone from the school. He realizes that he's the one doing harm now and wants to stop. This is in Kevin's pov
Book six focuses on the other leaders and tribe members trusting Kevin again with being the Courageous Canines leader. They learn more about Elka and the original tribe as well. This is in Sahara's pov
Book seven focuses on remaking the Wise Wolves tribe and finding the other original tribe members and transferring their souls into the gems. This is in Layah's pov
Book eight focuses on the fact that everyone fell for the God's plan, and that it wasn't to bring peace. It was to bring chaos. The gods are able to control the original tribe members and use their magic, even though they are technically their children. Something like an apocalypse starts and all the leaders and tribe members work together to stop it once and for all. This is in Gavin's pov
The prequel, aka the lore book focuses on the original tribe and how it all started. It tells more about the gods at the time and their original mission, to help the world from darkness that was said to happen in a few decades. This is mainly in Elka's pov, but also in Tigera's, the gods and Elka's mom
-----------------
I have no way of knowing when they'll be released as of now but the prequel will be released after book four even if I finish it before then. Some things might change as most of this is just general ideas of what I'll write.
I will try to write more often, at least 3 chapters each week but writing block sucks and I need a computer to type comfortably which I've been using my school computer last year but I start school in a few days from now so idk.
Remember that if you read what I have on my quotev isn't exactly official because of it being completely unedited and only the rough draft so there will be plot holes in that version. I'm hoping to at least release my books on Amazon if nothing else, at around 5-8 USD each copy. If anyone has questions I should be able to answer but I do have a lot going on as I just moved, I'm starting school on Tuesday and other personal reasons but I should be able to answer.
Names for the books and covers will be designed/decided within the next 6 months or so.
This whole thing is mainly just a passion project and not meant to be super official in any way and I'm not expecting a fandom but I don't really care what you do as long as you don't do these
S3xualize any of the characters. They are mostly minors and 10-15 years old
Spread misinformation about it
Bring in religion with this. The gods in the Tribal universe are fictional, anyone can enjoy my work. The tribes are not a cult
Hate on me specifically for reasons such as taking too long with one book (I am one person working on this. I do the writing, editing, names, draw the covers etc.), because of there being lgbtq rep in the books, and because of what others are doing
Otherwise have fun idc.

#DailyDevotion Jesus Has Purchased Us To Be His Own Hosea 3 “Go," the LORD told me, "and again love a woman who, loved by a friend, is an adulteress, just as the LORD has loved Israel while they turn to other gods and love cakes of raisins."2So I bought her for myself for six and a half ounces of silver and nine bushels of barley. 3But I told her, “Sit at home for me a long time. Don't be a prostitute or offer yourself to any man, and I will be yours.” 4The Israelites will sit a long time without a king or a prince, without a sacrifice or a pillar, and without a priest's apron or family idols. 5After that, Israel will come back and search for the LORD their God and David their king, and they will come trembling to the LORD and to His blessings in that last time. The LORD again sends the prophet into prophetic action. It is unclear if this is the prophet getting another wife other than Gomer from chapter 1 or if it is Gomer after her adulteress affairs after she married Hosea. What is clear is she has taken on a lover. More than that, she apparently had sold herself to this lover because Hosea is buying her for six and a half shekels of silver and nine bushes of barley. According to some sources the was the common price for a slave. The LORD tells us here He loved Israel while Israel ran after other gods and enjoyed the delicacies that took place during said worship. It does seem the LORD would not fully give up on Israel though she prostituted herself to other gods. So the prophet has the woman stay at home for a long time with the command to no longer be an adulteress or prostitute. He apparently will withhold himself from here at this time. At the end of the time, he would take her to wife and be her husband. So this is to symbolize what is to come in the near future for both Israel and for Judah. We know Israel is taken away, but a remnant of them settles near Jerusalem from every tribe. After Israel is taken away, then Judah follows in being taken away to Babylon. During that seventy year period, they have no temple worship and no king. Afterwards, they do not have a Davidic king but are ruled by other nations. It would be five hundred years before the LORD raises up David among them, that is, the LORD Jesus Christ. After Jesus ascends to the right hand of the Father, He sends His apostles into the world to gather Jesus' spiritual Israel. According to Rodney Stark, in his book, “The Rise of Christianity,” most Jews throughout the Roman empire convert to following Jesus as LORD and Savior, their Davidic King. The remnant that remains unfaithful is just that a remnant. There was a large enough remnant in and around Jerusalem to twice rebel against the Romans. Yet, this was the smaller amount. The LORD's spiritual Israel is still coming into being. Some from the unbelieving remnant of Israel, most from the world at large. All these follower of Jesus are Abraham's children according to Romans 9. Yes, this Israel is coming back to the LORD, searching for Him and David their king. We come before Him trembling looking for life and salvation. In His great love for us, He bestows it upon us in the New David, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Heavenly Father, look mercifully upon the Bride of Christ, Your Israel, call us into it so we may, through faith in Jesus, receive Your blessings forever and ever. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Book 1 Chapter 20: Everything is Melancholy and Heartbroken
It was just the beginning of summer and the weather had not yet turned completely hot, so Kangxi ordered preparations be made to go beyond the Great Wall. Although trips happen outside the Forbidden City every year, I am very happy to go on them.
After all, once outside the Forbidden City, the rules are relaxed and the struggles seem far away. Riding horses, galloping under the blue sky and white clouds, enjoying the warm sunshine. The gentle wind and faint fragrance of green grass! I feel that life is still beautiful and my heart feels light.
There are the nine elder brothers also accompanying me outside the Great Wall this time. Included are the Prince, Fifth, Seventh, Eighth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth. Except for the occasional chat and laughter with Fourteenth, I avoided everyone else if I could. If I really couldn’t, I would greet and retreat as quick as politeness allowed.
These days seemed to be the quietest I had ever lived. When I wasn’t on duty, I was horse riding and swung about the grassland on my own. When I felt up to it, I galloped across the wild rolling grassland, when tired I lay against the horse allowing it to walk slowly.
Many times it was just me and the horse from the time the sun first rose to the time the sky was filled with the sunset. Chewing dried food and drinking water from a skin, enjoying the views and things here. Whole days would pass enjoyed in solitude.
“My sister spends all day with horses, she seems more and more unwilling to talk to people.” Yutan teased me with a smile.
I lowered my head grinning, thinking I didn’t even know when I had become like this. I remembered from childhood to adulthood I was a person who couldn’t stand loneliness. I had always wanted to surround myself with friends and stay in a group. When I had first come to work in Shenzhen I had no friends around me. I didn’t dare return home after work, I always hung out in bars. Even when I was in the Bei’le manor I wanted the maids to play with me, but I still sighed. Boring, boring! It seemed that I had never learned how to spend my time alone.
Time is easy to throw people away, the bananas turn green and cherries turn red. Between the turns of red and green I have quietly changed and started to enjoy the tranquility of being alone. In fact, if I could live this life peacefully, it will be my blessing.
This year both Prince Suwan Guarjia and Minmin were absent. Only Prince Heshu came to greet Kangxi. However, Minmin had sent a letter through Heshu. I was laughing even before I had finished the letter and fell back onto my blanket holding my stomach. The letter said, since bidding farewell in August last year, Prince Zuoying had not even returned to his own tribe. He had chased her all the way to their palace and moved in at the invitation of her mother. The letter was all about how Prince Zuoying followed her all day long, trying to please her, how she refused, how she put on airs to tease him, and how Prince Zuoying fought her in a battle of wits and courage. After reading her letter, it felt like Minmin was still unmoved. But her admiration and her inadvertent happiness were revealed between the lines.
I vaguely felt that this was Minmin’s star and Minmin wouldn’t miss him because Prince Zuoying would not allow her to miss him. I seem to see their happiness waiting not too far away!
Holding the letter, I read it again and again and my mood became extremely good. I could finally see it next to me- a happy relationship between two people. There was no marriage, no coercion, no grievances, no interests. Just everything was him and her.
After reading the letter I ran out of the tent and took a horse out onto the prairie. I galloped smiling the whole way. Minmin’s happiness made me want to laugh with her. It wasn’t until I was tired that I slowed my horse and lay against it still smiling.
Suddenly I heard the sound of hoof beats. I opened my eyes and saw Eighth riding up slowly besides me. The smile on my face vanished and I sat up. While greeting him I said, “I still have some things to do. If Lord Bei’le has no other instructions, I will retreat first.”
He stared at me and said quietly, “I have been watching you from the hillside just now. I haven’t seen you happy for such a long time.”
I didn’t know what to say and could only lower my head and remain silent. He looked into the distance and asked solemnly, “Have you really given up?”
“I’ve let it go.” There was a dull pain in my heart, but I didn’t let it reflect on my face and kept calm.
“Do you have someone else in your heart?”
I knew he misunderstood so let him continue to misunderstand.
“No.” I replied lightly.
He stared at me sideways. “In three years you will be released from the palace. Are you willing to let father propose marriage to you?”
“Tomorrow will come and tomorrow be a worry. Nothing is up to me so why bother thinking about it?” I said casually. I bowed and turned to leave.
A sneer twisted the corner of his mouth and he waved his hand to let me go. I whipped my mount and rode away. Before riding too far, I saw Fourteenth reigning his horse on the hillside watching from a distance.
Thinking of bumping into him at a time like this, I was afraid he would scold me again because of his temper. So I pretended not to see him and rode back to stable my horse and walked back to my tent. I felt sour in my heart that I couldn’t express it. I bowed my head in silence.
“Ruoxi, what are you thinking about?” I suddenly heard while walking. Looking up I saw Heshu and the crown prince standing not too far away. I quickly knelt in greeting.
I don’t know if it is because of the jade pendant or Minmin but prince Heshu treats me very differently. He usually calls me by my first name just like Minmin and repeatedly tells me not to be so reserved and polite in front of him. But he said his thing and I did mine.
“I looked for you for a long time, but I didn’t even notice you.” Prince Heshu said with a smile.
“This servant was rude. Please punish me, Prince.” I smiled apologetically.
“It was just a joke. I don’t blame you and you rushed to apologize. Why are you still so cautious and polite? If Minmin were as half as good as you, Father and I wouldn’t have to worry so much. Now that you are serving in front of the Emperor there is no chance. When you leave the palace in the future, I will take you to Mongolia to have some fun and change your temper.” He sighed.
The prince smiled and said, “There is no chance of that now. Royal Father will take her every where with him where he goes. But in two or three years she will be old enough to leave the palace. And it will be time for Royal Father to arrange a marriage. If I the Prince want to invite you, I’m afraid I can’t invite one person.”
Prince Heshu smiled and didn’t answer.
Why was everyone so concerned about my marriage? It’s on everyone’s mind. You still think I’m not enough? Excuse me, remind me in a hurry? I don’t want to say any more and the corner of my mouth twitches. I smile and bow to leave. The prince smiled at me and motions for me to retreat. When the autumn wind began to blow, Kangxi decided to break camp and return to Beijing. Sitting in the carriage I thought the prince will be killed next year. I couldn’t help but sigh. Life would not be so easy next year and I must cheer up to face the palace storm. I also considered my possible wedding, which made me more worried. What on earth could I do?

September of the 50th year of Kangxi, Changchun Garden
After Kangxi returned from outside the Great Wall, he moved directly to Changchun Garden. It’s close to all the brothers’ manors and made it easier for everyone to come in and out.
Today I happened to run into Fourteenth. Seeing that he wasn’t busy, I stopped him and asked for details of what happened between Tenth and tenth Fujin. Since the last time Kangxi ordered all of his sons to accompany him to have fun in the Imperial Gardens.
Tenth had said he would be sick in the future, so I remembered. I had always wanted to ask Fourteenth for more details, but there was never a suitable opportunity. Either I’d forget about it, or, when I remembered, it wasn’t appropriate to ask.
“If we hadn’t known each other since childhood, I would have misunderstood you again! Where can I find someone else like you? You’re so concerned about the private affairs between a man and wife. I don’t know what you are thinking about all day long.” He laughed and said.
Still laughing, he told of the interesting things he encountered. As I listened, I thought that both of them were stubborn and short tempered. They can stand being angry and they are genuine people. They really are a pair of happy enemies living a noisy life.
We were laughing and chatting when Yutan ran forward anxiously. She greeted Fourteenth quickly and hesitated to speak to me.
“What happened?” I suppressed my smile and asked.
She glanced at Fourteenth and stared at me. “The Crown Prince…. The Crown Prince… and the Emperor want sister…. He asked the Emperor for a marriage!”
My brain exploded with a bang and my legs felt weak. I was about to fall. Yutan quickly grabbed me. There was a buzzing in my ears. Yutan still seemed to be talking but I couldn’t hear her. I just thought, ‘what sin have I done that god shows me no mercy?’
When I came to my senses, I was sitting in my sitting room.
“Good sister! Please don’t scare me!” Yutan said while crying.
I weakly pointed to a tea cup and she quickly brought it over and let me take a few sips. I just felt confused and empty. I didn’t know what to do or think. So I casually asked, “Where is Fourteenth?”
“After hearing this, Fourteenth turned pale with rage and left. He only told me to guard and take good care of my sister.” She said.
She consoled me. “Sister, please don’t be impatient. The Emperor hasn’t nodded yet.”
I was still stunned. It couldn’t be like this. Things absolutely could not be like this!
“You carefully tell me everything that happened today, bit by bit, beginning to end. Even the look in the Emperor’s eyes.” I told Yutan.
“After the Prince arrived, Yunxiang ordered me to serve tea. When I brought the tea tray in, the Prince was already kneeling in front of the Emperor. ‘Ruoxi has already reached a marriageable age. She is gentle and polite in personality. She is outstanding in appearance and appearance, so I am bold and want to ask the Emperor to make the decision and give her to me as my concubine.’ The Emperor was silent for a long time before saying, ‘Ruoxi has been by my side for many years and has served me wholeheartedly. I also know it’s time for her to get married, but I’m getting older and I really need someone like her who is thoughtful and knows the truth in my heart. I want to keep her for a while and then give her advice on who to marry. Reward her with a generous dowery and allow her to marry in glory, not being in vain for serving me. Something unexpected happened today and I have to think about it.’ Then I served the tea and I had no reason to linger, so I had to withdraw. Because I was shocked at that time, and afraid that the Emperor and the Crown Prince would get clues because of the abnormal expressions. I never dared raise my head, so I didn’t get to pay attention to their expressions.” Yutan said.
After careful consideration I can roughly understand what the crown prince was thinking. There were only three reasons: one is Kangxi, the other is the Mongolians, and the third is my father. Among them, the Mongolians factor a majority. Everyone in the dynasty knows that the crown prince is wanting to reconcile with the mongols to consolidate his position.
But I haven’t a clue about Kangxi’s thoughts. If he approves, what should I do? Do I really want to marry the prince or do I resist the decree? Do I really need to prepare three feet of white silk like Fourth said?
I know everyone’s ending but my own. Is this the ending that god has prepared for me? Thinking about it, I couldn’t help but feel sad and I couldn’t help but cry on my couch.
Yutan insisted on staying in my house at night.
“Don’t worry, go back! Are you really afraid I would hang myself from a beam at night? Since the Emperor hasn’t nodded, the matter hasn’t reached a dead end.” I said feebly. “Besides even if it did reach a dead end and I’m not willing to accept my fate. Please let me be alone.”
Yutan had no choice but to go back to her room after I finished speaking. I lay back thinking about this over and over again. And tears fell from my eyes. When I saw Tenth’s wedding ceremony I was filled with sadness and anger. I now realize it wasn’t only sadness and anger, but also utter despair.
I stood up in my clothes and walked slowly to the sweet smelling osmanthus tree. Recalling the prince’s past expressions and the way he had looked at Minmin, I felt extremely sick. I hugged the sweet scented tree, pressing my face against the bark and burst into tears.
Am I all wrong? Did my persistence end up harming myself? No matter whether it was Fourth or Eighth, or Tenth, it was better than marrying the prince! Fourth, Fourteenth, and Eighth have all reminded me, but I had always maintained a carefree mentality, thinking I still had a few years left. But I know while I don’t care about it, others did. And now I regret it. It’s too late.
As I thought and cried, the sky gradually lightened.
“Why is my sister only wearing single clothes?” Yutan screamed as she opened the door and stepped in the help me. As she touched my body, she shouted, “Oh my god! So hot! How long have you been standing outside?!”
She helped me lay down on the bed and wrapped me in a quilt. “Sister, if you can bear with me for a little longer, I will go find the Prince and ask for a physician.”
Yutan served me some medicine and I felt drowsy again. I said I was confused, but Yutan was in the room. I could clearly hear the noise in the room. Even though I was awake, my eyelids felt as heavy as mountains and I couldn’t keep them open. I don’t know how long I lay there. My throat felt smoky and I finally looked for some water.
I opened my mouth, but no sound came out. I felt like Yutan was sitting next to me. I couldn’t reminded her than my hands and feet were weak. I just frowned and cried out in pain.
“Want water?” A man’s voice asked. He picked me up and brought the cup to my mouth, and fed me little by little. After finishing drinking, he helped me lay back. He whispered in my ear, “Since Royal Father hasn’t issued a decree yet, things will take a turn for the better.”
Only then did I recognize Fourth’s voice. My heart felt sour and tears fell from the corners of my eyes. He wiped my tears away.
“Just listen to the physician’s instructions and recover from your illness first. Don’t think about anything else. Yutan was taken away by my order and is expected to come back soon. You won’t wait too long.” He was ready to leave after that.
I don’t know where I got the strength from, but I grabbed his sleeve and refused to let go. Perhaps it was because I knew he would be the future emperor, Yongzheng. I blindly believed that if there was anyone in this world who could save me, it would be him.
He had no choice but to turn and sit back down, staring at me. I couldn’t speak. I had just shed tears.
“I told you so many truths earlier and you didn’t listen to a word of it. Now that something has happened you are finally pulling on my sleeve?” He said coldly.
That jolted me. He wasn’t the current emperor, but the future one. Then again, even if he has the means, why should he offend the prince for me? I let go of his sleeve and closed my eyes. Only tears remained at the corners.
He bent down and helped me wipe my eyes. “I can’t make promises to you now because I don’t even know if I can.” His deep voice rang in my ears. “The person who wants you, after all, is the Prince. But don’t think I won’t care about you.” He covered me with the quilt and opened the door to leave.
After taking four doses of medicine, Yutan covered me with another quilt to make me sweat. By the second day the fever subsided and I felt quite awake, even though my head was still as heavy as a mountain. I hadn’t eaten anything yesterday, so by noon today, Yutan brought me some porridge and fed it to me. After finishing eating, she helped me wipe my face and packed up the food box and went out.
I opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling thinking that if Kangxi really wanted to grant me a marriage, what could I do to prevent him from granting me to the crown prince. Knowing that the crown prince would be deposed next year, if I could wait until then, Kangxi wouldn’t grant the marriage. But if Kangxi was really interested how could I deny it for so long? While I was thinking about it, the door suddenly opened and I thought that Yutan had returned. I ignored it and kept moving forward with my thoughts.
“Looking better than yesterday.” A man’s voice said.
I quickly turned and saw Fourteenth standing by the bed and looking down at me. I tried to sit up but he stopped me.
“Just lie down. There is not a need for such etiquette.” He pulled a stool and sat next to me.
He was quiet a while and then leaned forward to whisper to me. “Do you know why the Crown Prince wants to marry you? Prince Suwan Guarjia asked Royal Father to grant a marriage for Minmin to Prince Zuoying. The memorial just arrived today. He is quite well informed!” He gave a low snort. “I’ll tell you more about the twists and turns later. I just wanted to ask you, do you want to marry the Prince?”
I shook my head.
“It’s not convenient for Eighth to come and see you now. He asked me to tell you to find a way to delay it in front of Royal Father for a few days. In about ten days things should turn around.” He said.
I was shocked but happy at the same time. I just stared at Fourteenth.
“Thank you.” I said with a tearful voice. He nodded firmly.
“Why is your voice so burned? It’s like a duck’s!” He was surprised.
My mouth twitched and I wanted to laugh, but my heart was too bitter. I just watched Fourteenth quietly.
Fourteenth sighed bitterly, “Earlier, I had asked you to make your decision as soon as possible. But you didn’t listen. Now that you have reached this point you realize you regret it. Marrying Eighth is better than marrying the Prince.”
There were tears in my eyes and Fourteenth stopped and said, “You take good care of your health and don’t worry about anything. I’m going back. I’m afraid I won’t be able to see you for the next few days. Take care of yourself.”
As soon as he left, Yutan came in with a bowl of rock sugar and autumn pears.
“You’re not on duty anymore?” I asked her.
“Li Dequan knows my sister is ill, so he asked me to take care of you.” She replied. She went to help me drink the sugar water.
“I don’t want to drink.” I said.
Yutan smiled and said, “Drink some, sister. This is the best for soothing your throat.”
I shook my head and motioned for her to take it away. She tried to persuade me a few more times but I didn’t respond. She then put it aside.
What exactly is this turning point? And Fourteenth had said it was only a turning point, which means it may not necessarily be the case, but at least there was a way to go for the time being. If it only takes a few days, it should be possible. Even if Kangxi wanted to grant me a marriage, he can’t be as anxious as to issue an order for me to take care of myself even though I’m sick. Thinking about this purpose, I calmed down a bit.
While I was thinking to myself, Yutan came in with the medicine. She placed it on the table and helped me sit up. I took her hand and motioned her to sit next to me.
“I can’t drink this medicine, Yutan.” She looked at me in surprise and I continued. “I don’t want to marry the Prince. I have no other option but to pretend to be sick. But it’s impossible to pretend to be sick. I’ve been taking this medicine from you for so many years. Li Dequan knows everything together with the imperial physician. So the medicine you bring is the usual and throw it away before anyone notices or you are not my good sister.”
Yutan bit her lip and stared at me before finally nodding. I smiled and took her hand but she suddenly turned her head and wiped her tears. Her shoulders shook and she muttered to herself.
“Why is this happening? Even people like my sister…”
Alas! What will her fate be in the future? By the time she leaves the palace she will have already passed the marriageable age, and given her background, she has no family to rely on. If she didn’t get married she could only live with her brothers for the rest of her life. How embarrassing would that be? If you get married it would be difficult to find a lover. For a woman as smart and clever as she is, as long as she is willing to work hard there is no way out. But I now see only a dark future. Women are made of water. That is because this society has no other way out for women except the ‘three obediences’ of ‘obeying the father, obeying the husband, and obeying the son.’ How can a woman not cry?
Although I didn’t take any of the medicine yesterday, I felt better today. I guess it’s because I often skipped rope in the hospital and did sit ups before going to bed. At that time, I only thought about health as the most important thing. I was alone in the palace. If I got sick, I would be the one to suffer.
Ancient medicine was backward. Looking at “Dream of Red Chamber” a small case of typhoid fever may turn into terminal tuberculosis at any time, so I have always been more in love with my body, but now I’m beginning to regret it.
Especially when the imperial physician checked my pulse and said to me with a smile, “Just wait four or five more days and take some proper care and you should be fine.”
I was in so much pain that I had to pretend to be happy after hearing it.
Yutan brought the medicine and I was leaning against the couch in a daze when there was a knock on the door.
“Come in.” I called casually.
Xiao Shunzi walked through the door. He quickly approached the couch and faced me and whispered, “I was asked to tell this girl one word- Drag!” After saying this he turned and ran away in a hurry.
I thought about it for a long time and made up my mind.
In the evening I sent Yutan back to her own room to rest. I guessed that she would be fast asleep when I threw on my clothes and opened the door to stand in the courtyard. It was already cold in Beijing late at night at the end of September. I stood alone in the wind for a while, thinking about the last time when I had heard the bad news and was sad.
If you catch cold due to a chill wind and end up with a fever it’s probably due to psychological factors. I’m afraid I won’t be able to use the wind this time with such mental preparations. I turned back to the house and went to get a basin and cold water.
I held the basin and poured the water down, soaking myself from head to toe. I stood in the wind, forcing myself to raise my hands and close my eyes. I gritted my teeth and my body shivered.
“Good sister! Why are you doing this to yourself?” Yutan shouted as she rushed up to drag me back into my room.
I pushed her hand away and said, “Don’t worry about me. Go back to bed.”
She wanted to drag me, so I said, “Do you think I am willing to harm myself? But this is the only way I could think of to save myself now! If you continue stopping me, you are harming me. I will still treat you as a close friend.”
Yutan let go of my hand crying silently. I ignored her and took another basin of water. I stood in the wind for half the night. Before dawn I started feeling hot again and my head became dizzy. Yutan helped me into the house, dried my hair and changed my clothes. She covered me in a quilt.
“Don’t rush to call the physician,” I kept telling her. “When my hair is dry, you can touch it and comb it some more. I’ll call again when the time comes.”
Because I was worried, I hadn’t rested well for many days. I was awake for a while before falling into a dazed sleep.
This illness was an aggravation of illness. There was no good way to reduce the fever in ancient times. It took me three or four days of being groggy before I woke up. And it took another four to five days to nurse myself back to health before I slowly began to recover. Thinking that this wasn’t good, Yutan no longer needed to take care of me all day long. And thinking about this so called turning point and Kangxi’s attitude I ordered Yutan to return to work as usual and to pay attention to everything. She nodded obediently to show she had understood everything.
Seeing that it was already ten days, but there was still no movement. Yutan only told me that Li Dequan had asked her about my condition and his expression was normal. He only told her to take good care of me. I was worried in my heart. This disease came on suddenly and violently and it happened coincidentally. What on earth could Kangxi be thinking? Fifteen days have passed since Fourteenth came to seem me, but I hadn’t seen any improvement. One day while I was sitting in the house, feeling miserable, Yutan hurried in. She closed the door and sat down next to me.
“I heard that today in court the old affairs of Lord Jingxi, the governor of the country were brought up again. I beg you to live forever. I’m investigating the case of the infantry commander Tuo Heqi and his son entertaining the ministers of the court and embezzling illegal money during the funeral of Prince Malhun of Doroan County.”
I thought about it carefully Jingxi is the son of prince An Yuele and the maternal uncle of eighth Fujin. He is in the Zhenglan banner with Eighth. He must be a supporter of Eighth. And the infantry commander Tuo Heqi is the prince’s man. This is an attack on the prince! Is this what is called a turnaround?
“But what do you think the Emperor said?”
Yutan replied, “Because this report said that there were signs that there were about twenty people participating in the party gathering, excluding infantry commander Tuo Heqi, the capital commander Eshan, the Ministry of Punishment minister Qi Shiwu, and the Ministry of War minister Gang E. In addition to the adults most of them were military personnel such as the commander in chief of the eight banners and the deputy commander in chief. The Emperor took it very seriously and ordered Third to be responsible first for the investigation. If it is true as reported by the Duke of the town, the case will be handed over to the Ministry of Punishment for a detailed investigation.”
Of course a detailed review is required! Ever since the restoration of the crown prince, Kangxi has been worried that Yinreng might force the palace to usurp the throne. Most of the people participating in the symposium held military positions and held certain military powers. In particular, the position of infantry commander from the first rank. It’s like the commander of the capital’s garrison and is directly responsible for ensuring the emperor’s personal safety. How could Kangxi rest assured that they would be friendly in private? Once any unfavorable words to the prince were found, the prince would be deposed again soon. And since Eighth chose to attack this matter, he would definitely not target without aim.
Thinking about it, I couldn’t help a smile that escaped the corner of my mouth. The sword hanging above my head, finally, was temporarily removed. Since Kangxi’s suspicion about the prince became reality there is no reason to marry me to him. And if it is true as they think, I now have relations with two prominent Mongolian clans. How can they waste such a good resource on the prince?
I had always thought that the battle of the two deposed princes would have waited until next year. But I didn’t expect it to turn from the dark to being out in the open right now. I’m afraid that Eighth has already made arraignments and is just waiting for the opportunity, otherwise he wouldn’t be able to make such a decisive move. Since Fourth could send someone to delay for time, it means he also knows that there will be a day in court. It seems that this time he is going to cooperate with Eighth to take down the crown prince.
But what role did I play in this? I think I was the catalyst. Without me, this matter would have happened sooner or later, but because I was involved with the mongols and Kangxi’s attitude, to a certain extent, it might have happened earlier than they had planned.
Without a history book in hand I don’t know if these things are developing according to the history I know. I am confused in my heart. Is it because of me that history is like this? Or is it because of history that it is my business?
The smile was still there but it gradually became bitter. I hid here and there, but unexpectedly I landed in the center of the storm. I used to be a bystander, watching everyone go to their end. Now I am also dragged into those scene. Where should I go in the future? From now on, it is not a situation where nothing will happen if I don’t make a mistake. But I am afraid of making mistakes. Even if I move, the storm won’t let me go. I may not be so lucky next time. It’s time to think about how to protect myself!

PROLOGUE
Masterlist. Chapter 1
The snow was thick, crunching underneath their paw pads as they trudged their way further up. They passed many boulders and tall trees, Cacaoclans vast territory seemed to have no border as the two cats made their way closer to the mountains peak.
"Should we even be doing this? Hawkaim and Kaggedwolf are going to find us." One of them pants. He was a kit, days away from his apprentice ceremony. "Serpentpaw. . . Serpentpaw!" He cried out.
"Yes Bitterkit. We must see this. Now hurry, or we'll miss it!" Serpentpaw leaped forward over a log, Bitterkit dug their claws into the bark, but couldn't lift themself over it. Teeth grabbed at his scruff and lifted him over. The apprentice chuckled. "You don't need me to carry you, do you? I'd expect more swiftness from the Coffee tribes kits." Bitterkit growls at him.
They keep wandering upwards. Bitterkit could feel a thumping in his near-frostbitten paws, and blood was rushing to his icy ears. His long and dark pelt was keeping his body warm enough, but his face ached from the cold.
"There- I see his pawprints!" Serpentpaw began to bound further ahead. Bitterkit reluctantly followed, after all, he had already come this far. Up ahead was a cliff, the moon shining above. Bitterkit looked straight up, seeing silverpelts brilliant stars gleaming down upon the two cats.
There at the cliff stood Cacaostar. He was huge, like the leopards of old. A thick stripe of white ran from the tip of his tail up to the backs of his ears, splitting into two like a snakes tounge. Bitterkit held his breath. Serpentpaw gasped in amazement. Cacaostar was speaking, murmuring to the sky. His voice was too quiet to hear, and if anything replied, the two couldn't hear it.
The clouds above began to move, swirling into forms unknown. Cacaostar simply watched. The stripe down his back began to wiggle in the wind, until a great whoosh ran past, and the white flew straight off his back. It coiled in on itself and writhed into the sky, until a mighty snake was staring down their great leader. As the wind died down the vision faded.
Cacaostar let out a shout, not of anguish or rage, of frustration. He whipped around, not catching sight of the two younglings. The leader lumbered down from the cliff and bounded down the mountain. Once he was out of sight, Serpentpaw squealed and leapt out of the ditch he hid in.
"BITTERPAW! YOU SAW IT! YOU SAW IT, DIDN'T YOU?!" he pranced in a circle, turning to look up at the cliff. Bitterkit weakly lifted himself up from the ditch, his vision blurry. "Oh starclan.. Bitterkit could you imagine it?"
He licks at his frozen feet.
"One day I could be up there, talking with our ancestors. Getting my nine lives. And you could be my deputy!" Bitterkit gulped. "Or my medicine cat?" Serpentpaw offers. The moon crests overhead.
"I'm not sure if I believe in the whole starclan thing. . ."
. . .
"What?! Why?!"
Two apprentices sit in a clearing, sunlight shining down. The one apprentice, loudly protesting is coloured a light cream. His eyes are a piercing sky blue that stare right at the other apprentice.
"What are you talking about Acornpaw! Starclan- they run everything around here!" He motions to a squirrel further away. "The prey we catch, the kits that are born, it's all a gift from Starclan." The feline proudly claims.
"Blessedpaw. I just- I don't know." Acornpaw rolls their eyes. He lays down on the grass, it's still coated in morning dew. Birds are chirping and the solemn coo of the mourning dove occasionally rings out. "Let me think about it for a moment."
Blessedpaw nods and stretches himself out, fluffy tail curling upward. He lowers his haunches and slowly stalks towards the squirrel a few fox lengths away. With a silent leap, his heavy paws pounce on the prey, catching it easily. Acornpaw watches without a word, his mind wandering. When Blessedpaw pads back he speaks up.
"I just mean, that if starclan was real, wouldn't things be different? Wouldn't Pebblekit be better?" Acornpaw flicks his ear and lowers his head to the ground. The other apprentice drops his fresh kill nearby. ". . . Aren't they older than us? And we get apprenticed before they get to. How is it fair for Starclan to do that?"
Acornpaw rolls onto his back, belly facing the sky. Blessedpaw joins him, looking up at the trees and birds.
"I don't know." The large cream cat raises a paw upwards, spreading his claws open before sheathing them again. "You should probably go back to the Magic Republic."
"I suppose. Have fun at the Creme Republic."
Blessedpaw rolls over and gets up, walking away with his prey. Acornpaw lays there for a bit longer.

Numbers
Chapter 1
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying, 2 Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls; 3 From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies. 4 And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers. 5 And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of the tribe of Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur. 6 Of Simeon; Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai. 7 Of Judah; Nahshon the son of Amminadab. 8 Of Issachar; Nethaneel the son of Zuar. 9 Of Zebulun; Eliab the son of Helon. 10 Of the children of Joseph: of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.
11 Of Benjamin; Abidan the son of Gideoni. 12 Of Dan; Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. 13 Of Asher; Pagiel the son of Ocran. 14 Of Gad; Eliasaph the son of Deuel. 15 Of Naphtali; Ahira the son of Enan. 16 These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel. 17 And Moses and Aaron took these men which are expressed by their names: 18 And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls. 19 As the LORD commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai. 20 And the children of Reuben, Israel's eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 21 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred. 22 Of the children of Simeon, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, those that were numbered of them, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 23 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred. 24 Of the children of Gad, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 25 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Gad, were forty and five thousand six hundred and fifty. 26 Of the children of Judah, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 27 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Judah, were threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred. 28 Of the children of Issachar, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 29 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred. 30 Of the children of Zebulun, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
31 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred. 32 Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 33 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred. 34 Of the children of Manasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 35 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred. 36 Of the children of Benjamin, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 37 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred. 38 Of the children of Dan, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 39 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Dan, were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred. 40 Of the children of Asher, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;
41 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred. 42 Of the children of Naphtali, throughout their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; 43 Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred. 44 These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers. 45 So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel; 46 Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty. 47 But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them. 48 For the LORD had spoken unto Moses, saying, 49 Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel: 50 But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.
51 And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death. 52 And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts. 53 But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony. 54 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.
