Note
So random Mera but I've read your last post, and the line about Riddle planning out his morning sex had me wondering, will he put that in his daily planner? I can both see him being too embarrassed to commit such things to writing, but at the same time, he has this side of him that makes me think he'd want to show it off. Like, 'Oh, Trey, can confirm the time of my dentist appointment for me on Wednesday?' Just knowing he had a 5AM entry in there about banging Darling. What do you think: too shy or showing it off?
AAAAAA OH MY GOSH YES YES!!!! This is exactly how I imagine Riddle feels. Maybe he’s shy the first time he makes note of it, but then he’s lived away from his mother long enough to realize premarital sex isn’t going to lead to the end of the world and that it’s normal to indulge in intimacy for reasons beyond what his mother thinks is the standard. Not everything has to be related to the traditions of marriage and having children.
Riddle’s once narrow world has opened so much since he’s allowed himself to follow his own rules, slowly but surely cutting himself out of his mother’s mold and becoming more of himself. It’s impossible to rid himself of her influence overnight, but baby steps are important and much-needed. He’s making progress! So I think, in the very beginning, he’s immensely embarrassed and shy about scheduling these sorts of things. Even talking about it with you prickles his skin with some sort of nervous discomfort—like he’s about to do something criminal. He gets used to it eventually, especially if he’s discussing sex often with you.
At some point, it feels like less of an embarrassment and shameful thing to write in his planner and more of a blessing. He’s doing this because he wants it. Because he’s allowed to choose the things he wants and he’s not going to let his mother’s influence from all the way in the Queendom of Roses to cow him into submission. Riddle does have a few prideful bones in his body, so he absolutely becomes proud of adding you to his schedules! At first it felt like he was tainting the page with mentions of sex, but now he’s happy to plan it out and pencil you in. <3 he definitely has Trey check his planner to confirm certain arrangements all while fully knowing his friend will stumble upon the time slots he’s reserved for fucking you hehe.
Also, on the subject of showing things off, Riddle’s the type to threaten tell you not to leave hickeys in obvious places, but when you do he’ll feign frustration and act like it’s the worst possible thing. But then he’s purposely wearing outfits that will risk showing off the love bites. :) he’s immensely proud of every scratch and bite and bruise because it’s proof of the enjoyable times he spends with you. Also also!!! Sometimes he just doesn’t want to be seen as a pure goody-goody. He’s sheltered, but he’s not that sheltered. Not anymore. Not since you came into his life and helped him see the horizon beyond the birdcage his mother raised him in.

SR Cater Diamond Ceremonial Robe Personal Story: Part 1
"Want to play a guessing game?"
Part 1 (Part 2)
Tumblr media
[Mirror Chamber]
[overlapping chatter]
Cater: Oohhー The new students are all in a row! They've assembled in full force♪
Trey: Of course they have, Cater. That's because it's the entrance ceremony.
Trey: From the ones who are frozen stiff from nervousness, to the ones who can't settle down at all... I don't know whether to think of them all as naïve or boisterous.
Cater: I wonder if you were just as cute two years ago, Trey-kun~?
Trey: I absolutely don't remember.
Cater: I probably took a picture, y'know. Of you from our first year.
Trey: You don't have to show me.
Cater: Well, there is that one person who wasn't at all naïve from the moment they entered the school.
???: You new students over there. 4 rows from the right, you three at the back!
Riddle: Are you not able to stay silent during the ceremony, at a minimum?
Riddle: Next time you whisper, it'll immediately be off with your head. Be sure to bear that in mind.
Cater: Whew~ Riddle's super loud and clear today too. I'm almost getting chills down my spine.
Trey: For Riddle, this is the first entrance ceremony after he was appointed Dorm Leader.
Trey: He's probably nervous.
Cater: I say today, but he's irritable every day.
Trey: Well then… The dorm sorting ceremony is starting soon.
Cater: It's here~~♪
Trey: I'm curious as to what type of folks are going to join us this year? It would be great if they are students who are calm and have common sense.
Cater: I want someone who's cheerful and easy to get along with~ Oh, but not one who can't read the room, y'know! That'd be troublesome.
Cater: I have an idea! Want to play a guessing game as to who'll join Heartslabyul?
Cater: Whoever's wrong has to volunteer to watch over the first years at the welcome party after this.
Trey: It feels like whenever you make those kinds of joking statements, you always seem to lose.
Cater: I don't know, I've always had a good eye when it comes to watching people~
Trey: Fine then. We can only observe the new students while their souls are being sorted, anyway.
Cater: So then… Let's start the "(2,000,00)1st Heartslabyul New Student Guessing Game"♪
Tumblr media
Cater: Let's go straightaway with the first person. I wonder if that student will join Heartslabyul~?
Cater: Uwa~ What a rough looking guy! That's a no vote for me. I don't think our flashy dorm uniform would suit him, anyway.
Trey: I also vote that he won't join us.
Trey: If I were to infer from historical patterns, a majority of beastfolk tend to be assigned to Savanaclaw.
Dark Mirror: The shape of your soul is… Savanaclaw!
Cater: Yep, there it is~ When it's your third time attending the entrance ceremony, you start to be able to read how the Dark Mirror makes its choices.
Cater: Next is the second person. I wonder if that student will join Heartslabyul~?
Cater: Yep, my vote is that kid will come to us!
Trey: What's your reasoning for that?
Cater: He's by far the cutest~! If he had an older sister, don't you think she would be a total stunner?
Trey: Rather than a prediction, that's just your own wishes. Besides, isn't it possible that he might not even have an older sister to begin with?
Cater: Even so, he'll have a mom. …Hey, I'm joking, I'm joking!! Trey-kun, did you fall for it?
Trey: I vote that he also won't be joining us.
Cater: Don't ignore me~
Tumblr media
Cater: Next is the fifth person…
Tumblr media
Cater: Next is the tenth person…
Tumblr media
Riddle: ――Now, does that conclude the entrance ceremony and the dorm sorting?
Riddle: Listen up, you new students. I am the law in Heartslabyul.
Riddle: Understand that anyone who defies me will lose their heads.
Tumblr media
Cater: The "Heartslabyul New Student Guessing Game" has finished~! And, as expected, the outcome is――?
Trey: Too bad, Cater. It's my win, 5 to 4.
Trey: So have fun watching over the new students. That first year with the auburn hair seems to be pretty lively.
Cater: Man! I lost…
Cater: And on top of that, Pomefiore took that cuuute lavender-haired first year…

Chapter Twenty-Eight
ROBYN
Tumblr media
Covering my tattoo didn't feel as liberating as I expected it to. The next few days, I used my sore hand as an excuse to skip work. I didn't do anything but lay on my living room sofa and get high all day. I skipped showers and barely ate. I couldn't even find the energy to talk to Mel or whoever else was blowing up my phone. All I wanted was to be alone. Even when Dre came knocking at my door for the fourth day in a row, I prepared to leave him standing there again. Then he threatened to file a missing persons report.
"I swear to God Anna, you in a bougie ass neighborhood. It won't take long for the police to get here." He shouted, as he peered through my living room window.
"I'm fine! Now go away!" I yelled, barely moving a muscle.
"I wish you would stop acting like a kid! I just want to talk for a minute." The sincerity in his voice made me give in, but I took my sweet time getting to the door. When I cracked it, he still offered a soft smile.
Tumblr media
"Can you let me in?" he pleaded, hearing Ollie and Pepe jumping to greet him as well. I sighed, took off the latch, and opened the door to let him in. Once he was in the threshold, they attacked his ankles with love until he bent down to rub their bellies.
“I know you haven’t been to work in a few days. I been calling and stopping by everyday. You got me worried as fuck, what’s going on with you?!” he quizzed, staring me over.
“Damn, a bitch can’t take a vacation? I mean, I am the boss.” I forced a laugh as I pulled out my rolling tray. I could tell I was gonna need to be high for this.
“Who you trying to fool? You don’t look good.” he frowned, shaking his head.
“I’m not trying to look good. I’m tryna get high...you wanna smoke?” I offered, holding it out to him.
“I’m serious. I know you an-”
“I mean, does anyone really know anyone” I side-eyed, cutting him off with a smirk.
“Stop that shit! I’m not joking around. Have you seen your doctor yet?” he snapped, getting to the reason behind his calls and visits. The doctor in him  had to make sure I was good.
“I made an appointment for his next available opening which is two weeks out, is that okay Dr. Dre?”
“I hate when you do that. Stop making it seem like I’m overreacting.”
“You are, like you always do.”
“Alright, if I’m overreacting, show me how many doses you have left of the meds I gave you last week?” he demanded. I started to blow him off, but realized he was right. I had taken them all.
“I was having some stomach pain and headaches. They were the only thing that stopped it.” I explained, as I lit the blunt I finished rolling.
“That’s what I’m trying to get you to understand. You need them, go get a prescription cause I feel like you need something stronger than what I gave you.”
“Do you think you could hook me up with a few more, since I have to wait two more weeks?”
“Hell nah. I can’t hook you up with shit, but if you come to the office I can get you on the books.”
“Damn, I forget you a man who goes by the books.” I blew a few rings of smoke in his direction.
“Do you have to smoke so much?”
“Do you have to be in my fuckin business so much?”
“Wow. Really?”
“You heard me. You stay acting like you care so much. Why is that? Huh? You want some pussy? If that’s all you want just say that, I mean, I could use some dick too”.
“What the fuck is wrong with you? You know what, I don’t know what you’re on right now, but I’m out. Call me when you’re sober” he stormed out, slamming my front door.
The noise from the slam created a tingling ache in my stomach that traveled up to my chest. Suddenly the room felt too small and I couldn't catch my breath. I squeezed my eyes as tight as I could and wrapped my hands around my elbows, as I rocked back and forth. I don't know how long it took for it to subside, but when it did, I realized I'd pissed on myself. I guess Dre was right after all, this was getting out of control.
I got up and ran myself a bubble bath. When I got out, I looked myself over in the mirror and was disgusted with my reflection. My skin was a mess, I was in need of a brow wax, and worse of all, I had a huge cluster of pimples on my chin. On top of looking like shit, I still felt like shit. I knew this couldn’t go on, so I called John to let him know I needed him tomorrow for the entire day. It was time for some much needed self love.
CHRIS
Tumblr media
“I’m cool on relationships. I'm mad I even wasted time on that shit” I spat, tossing back a shot of Henny.
“Don’t beat yourself up bro, I told you about that long distance shit. She was probably fucking somebody else too”
“She was celibate T” I repeated for the umpteenth time, shaking my head with irritation.
“Whatever you say” he chuckled, sticking to his cheating theory.
“You know what, this is pretty much your fault now that I think about it”
“How you figure that?”
“You’re the reason I went on that double date, and you’re the reason I was stuck with Ryan’s drunk, freaky ass” I exclaimed, almost knocking over my chaser. I hadn't been this faded since Trey's bachelor party.
“Well damn, sounds like you need to be thanking me.”
“I lost my girl because of you”
“No, you lost a dead end relationship. Nobody wants to be stuck in that long distance shit, and she wasn’t giving up the goods either! That ain’t no way to live”
“Fuck you T. Everything is a joke to you huh?
“I’m sorry bro. For real tho, if you can say you were happy, or that she was your soulmate or some shit...then I’ll apologize” he stated before a long pause. “Exactly”
“Yeah, you might be on to something, but I guess now we'll never know”
“No, I am right and you know it. You need to get ya manhood back. This is the best the west coast has to offer, and you get the pick of the litter.” he slurred, as he waved some chicks in our direction. Before I could protest, two dancers approached us. They were both rocking dazzled lingerie and matching masks on their faces. The shorter one straddled T’s lap and immediately began gyrating on him.
“Hey baby, it’s been too long. I thought you wasn’t fucking with me anymore, but I see you brought a friend.” she smiled, placing his hands on her ass.
“Yeah, this my brother. He just got dumped and needs to be welcomed to the single life”
“Well he came to the right place. This my girl Goldilocks. It’s her first night, so don’t worry, she’ll be gentle.” she smirked, making eye contact with her as she nodded in my direction.
On cue, Goldilocks sat on my lap and started to whine her hips to Juvenile's slow motion. I couldn’t front, it had been so long since I had some ass, it didn’t take long for me to stand at attention.
“Follow me” she ordered, leading me towards the back of the club. She found the last empty room and lead the way inside.
“Sit there” she motioned towards the sofa as she seductively removed her bra and tossed it at me.
“MMMMM” she moaned, placing my hands on her breasts. I squeezed and rubbed her nipples while she grinded on me in her panties. She leaned into me and began to suck softly on my neck. Her scent filled my nostrils, and that’s when Robyn invaded my mind. Goldilocks was wearing Dolce and Gabana, her favorite perfume.
“Don’t stop touching me” she groaned, grabbing my manhood and squeezing as tight as she could. Her touch was electrifying, sending shocks throughout my body. After a few moments of her skin up against mine, I was ready to take her right there on the couch.
As if she was reading my mind, she stood, stepped back, and began peeling away her stockings. Just when I thought there was no way I could get any stiffer, I noticed a tattoo going down her side. It was just like the one Robyn had. I knew must’ve been tripping, but I had to know if it was her. As quick as I could, I hopped off the couch I was glued to and snatched the mask from Goldilock’s face.
“What the fuck!” I yelled as she jumped back and readjusted it.
“I know what you’re thinking, but it’s okay” Rayven sighed trying to calm me down.
“This is not okay!”
“Chill, ya’ll not even together anymore. I know how to keep my mouth shut. Besides, she’s not my cousin anymore. I don’t claim her ass.”
“Do you hear yourself right now?”
“Look, the bitch is crazy and I don’t fuck with her. You obviously don’t either, after the way she beat my ass over your rejection the other day.”
“What? I’m confused. Ya’ll fought?”
“Chris please, stop playing dumb. We fought over you plenty of times! But fuck all of that. Run me my money.?” she ordered, holding her hand out.
“Chill with that, I  ain’t paying you for shit” I pushed past her, grabbed my jacket, and left the room.
ROBYN
Tumblr media
After the way I acted before my panic attack yesterday, I knew I had hella ass kissing to do. I don’t know what I was thinking when I pissed Dre off. He’s the only reason I haven’t gone off the deep end already, so I knew I had to make things right with him.
I got up super early even though I barely had any sleep. Regardless of how I felt, I was going to make the most of today. I found a full service spa and got the luxury package. It included a full body massage, pedi, mani, and even a wax. I was there for a total of three hours, and by the time I left, I felt like I could conquer the world.
“Where to boss lady?” John asked, making eye contact through the rear view mirror as I slid in the backseat.
“I need to see Aundre. Would you happen to know where he is right now?”
“I do, but imma be honest with you. I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
“Why not? Did he say something to you?”
“I witnessed the aftermath last night. I’m not picking sides, hell I don’t even know what it was about, but I do know a hurt ego when I see one. Maybe it’ll be best to give him a little space.”
“I’ve known Dre for a long time now. Thanks for the advice, but I got this” I reassured him as he nodded his understanding. “Matter of fact. I have a couple of stops before his office if you don’t mind.”
Almost an hour later, I entered Dre’s office with steak and potatoes from his favorite steakhouse in LA and a bottle of Cabernet in tow. It was a few minutes before noon, so I figured I would surprise him with his favorite. No one can resist their favorite meal, even if they are  pissed.
The first face I saw when I approached the receptionist’s window angered me to the core. I wanted to know what he was smoking on to have this woman in his presence, let alone his business. After everything she did to him, he still gave her what she wanted when she showed up with an open hand, and that had my blood boiling.
Tumblr media
“Hi, do you have an appointment?” Teyana asked, without even looking in my direction as she took a seat at her computer.
“Wait...you work here?” I stammered, trying to gather my words.
“No, I just like the uniform” she smirked, rolling her eyes. A million questions ran through my mind and I couldn’t help but want to slap the smirk off her face. They had to be fucking again.
“Can you let Dre know I’m here. I just need a minute of his time.”
“He’s busy with right now, but I can let him know you stopped by.”
“I’ll wait. I just need a minute, this is import-"
"-I'm sorry Robyn, but he's with a patient. He asked me not to interrupt his patients unless it's for his mother. Now I can take your number and have him call you when he gets a chance."
“Are you kidding? You know he would drop whatever he’s doing to see me right?” I snapped in frustration. I was trying to keep the peace, but she was intentionally pushing my buttons.
“Tuh, girl please” she chuckled, getting a kick out of my attitude. I don’t know who she thought she was playing with, but I wasn’t the one. I took it upon myself to go through the doors that led to the back and found Dre’s office. Which wasn’t very difficult, his door was open and I had a clear shot of him sitting at his desk.
I walked right past Teyana with a smirk of my own this time. By the time I reached Dre, that smirk was gone. There was some other chick in his office comparing notes with him, which wasn’t the problem. She was practically in his lap with the way she leaned into him, she was so close that one of her big ass breasts was resting on his arm.
"Excuse me Dr. Dre” I cleared my throat and the girl jumped back.
“What are you doing here?” he asked in complete surprise.
“I brought you some lunch, but I guess your still working.” I paused glancing at the now irritated co worker. It was obvious Dre was hiring nothing but eye candy around here. He always had a thing for double d’s.
“Naw, Ms. Westwood and I were just finishing up. Give her these instructions and have her come back in a week” he stated, turning to face her. She grabbed her files and quickly left his office, making sure to look me up and down as she tossed her hair over her shoulder on the way out. Not this bitch too. I was gonna have to have a little talk with Dre about his choice of employees.
Tumblr media
“So what is this supposed to be, an apology lunch?” he asked, closing the door to his office. The tone of his voice made it obvious he wasn’t gonna make this easy for me.
“Sorta. I needed to apologize but I wanted to surprise you with your favorite. Besides, this is my first time getting to see this place in person. It’s dope!” I forced a smile, taking a seat in the chair across from his desk. His piercing eyes stayed on mine making him hard to read, so I began to set his food up.
“You don’t have to do that. I don’t have an appetite right now, so I’ll just put that in the fridge until later.”
“Wow. Okay, you’re really upset with me huh?”
“Robyn, I don’t know what fucking planet you living on, but you don’t treat people the way you do and still expect everything to be cool.”
“I said I’m sorry. What more do you want? I don’t know why I say fucked up shit sometimes, but I didn’t mean it. I’m sorry.”
“Well sorry don’t cut it. Shits gotta change.” he shook his head, making me feel shitty.
“That’s why I’m here. I don’t like whatever this is either. I need some help getting it together. Can you help me get through these next couple of weeks?” I sighed as his demeanor instantly hardened.
“And there it is”
“What?”
“The reason you’re here. You’re abusing these drugs and I’m the one supplying you. I’m beginning to notice a pattern, but I don’t want to believe you only come around when you need something from me” he nodded, as if he’d really solved a mystery.
“How dare you?! That’s not fair. You know how hard shit has been for me! You surrounded by all these bitches that’s taking advantage of yo stupid ass, they got you questioning my intentions!” I erupted like a fish out of water. “Everyday is a struggle to get out of bed. How the fuck can I show up for anyone else when I can barely show up for myself?! You know what, nevermind. Fuck it, I don’t need anything from you!”
“Wait! I wasn’t trying to argue and fight but why do you make shit so hard?” he yelled, blocking the exit so I couldn’t storm out.
“Excuse me. You better get out of my way!”
“Chill Anna. Let’s just go back and have a se-”
“MOVE OUT MY FUCKIN WAY!” I yelled so loud there was no way anyone in the building missed it. He slowly backed from the door, a mixture of hurt and confusion on his face as my eyes met his, glare as intense as laser beams. I didn’t know whether to cry, slap him, or curse him out and act a fool. I couldn’t believe he called me an addict to my face. I had to get out before I did something stupid.

Gary & His Neighbor (chapter 5)
Gary & His Neighbor (chapter 4)
Tumblr media
Gary came round the corner and found his sons standing smirking at the door waiting for him. He grinned and said, "What? Did you both forget your keys?" They smirk, "No, just wanted to see if you asked her out and kissed her yet." Trey said grinning mischievously. "And by the looks of it, that would be a yes!" Donnie replies smugly.
"Get in the apartment!" Gary scolds, smiling and pushes their heads towards the door. "So, is she a good kisser, Dad?" Donnie teases seeing his dad's lips are red and a little swollen, and his hair a bit messy in back.
Gary glares at him, "I'm not discussing my dating life or lack there of with you two!" he says with a smirk. Donnie looks at Gary then at Trey and grins. "Trey, I believe that is Dad's way of saying, "Yes, boys she is a great kisser!" he teases.
Gary rolls his eyes and puts the two boys in a headlock. One in each arm. "And now it's time for the two of you to mind your own business and get ready for bed! We have a school day start tomorrow, don't forget. I want you ready before she gets here to pick us up!" he reminds them as he drags them to their rooms. When he lets them out of the headlocks they each give him a hug.
Trey looks up at him and says, "Dad, I'm glad you met her the other day. She is really nice. I like her a lot. Do you think she will stick around?" he asks.
Gary looks down at Trey and puts his hand on Trey's back. "I'm glad I met her too, Trey, and I'm glad you both like her as well. I have no clue if she will stick around, but we'll enjoy our time that we do get to have with her and see where life takes us." he tells his youngest son. "Now get going and get ready for bed." he tells him after giving him a hug.
Trey goes in his room and closes the door. "Night Dad!" Gary hears him say as he walks to his door. "Night boys, sleep well!" he tells them.
Gary goes into his room and closes his bedroom door. He sits down on the bed and sighs happily, remembering how you looked when he kissed you. He grinned remembering you begging for one more kiss before he left and how deep the kiss became. He ached to hold you again and wondered what it would be like being married to you. You were obviously good with his boys and liked them. He was glad they liked you too.
He thought about your disabilities and wondered how you manage now that your firefighter friends are not here to help you. He grinned thinking about all those books you had. He had never seen so many books in a private library before. He wondered how many you had and how fast you read them.
Gary flopped onto the bed and thought more about you. He wondered where you were going to take him and the boys tomorrow and what they were going to be watching. He was curious and came up with all different possibilities. He sighed and then realized he didn't have your phone number. He chuckled and shook his head. "Gary, how could you ask her out on a date and NOT get her phone number!" he chided himself shaking his head and grinning like an idiot.
He got up and headed for his bathroom to get ready for bed. He stripped off his pants, shirt and socks and tossed them in the laundry hamper. He grabbed his pajama pants and slipped them on. Then brushed his teeth and splashed some water on his face. He looked at himself in the mirror and realized he looked happier than he had in a long time.
He grinned and headed back into the bedroom. He climbed into bed and flipped off the lights. He fell asleep dreaming about you and what he wanted to do for a date with just the two of you.
Later on that night, around 2 am, Gary woke up. He wasn't sure why at first, then he heard the noise again. He groaned and got up. Walking into the hallway, he checked on Donnie in his room. He was sleeping soundly. Then Gary heard Trey cry out and it woke Donnie up. Donnie startled seeing a figure in his doorway until he realized it was his Dad.
"Trey?" he asked. Gary nodded then moved to open Trey's door. Donnie followed.
They came in and saw Trey curled up in a ball on his bed with his bed sheets all over the place. He was squirming and covering his head, having a flashback to seeing the tornadoes by the church.  Gary and Donnie came and sat on opposite sides of the bed from each other. Trey was still in the midst of the nightmare and tossed and turned.
"Trey." Gary said as he shook his son's shoulder. Trey just mumbled something intelligible. "Come on, Trey, wake up! It's just a nightmare." Gary said a little firmer as he shook Trey's shoulder again. Trey still didn't wake up.
Donnie got down on the floor and knelt by Trey's head. He took Trey's face in his hands and said, "Come on Trey, wake up!" in a loud, firm tone. Trey's eyes flew open and he startled. He looked around frantically, his heart racing. "Donnie? Dad?" he asked scared.
"We're here, Trey, you were having another night mare / flashback episode." Gary says as Trey crawls into his arms with tears running down his cheeks. "Why do I keep having these, Dad?" he asks.
"I don't know, Trey. I wish I knew what to tell you to help you." he said as he rubbed Trey's head and back.
"I get them too, sometimes, Trey." Donnie tells him. "I'll wake up feeling trapped like when Kaitlyn and I were in the paper mill. I've never been so scared in my life. I honestly didn't think anyone would find us alive." he told Trey and his Dad.
"Dad?" Trey mumbles into his Dad's chest, "Do you get them? The flashbacks and night mares?" Trey asks.
Gary heaves a sigh, "Yeah. Sometimes, I'll wake up from one. Usually when it's storming outside, or if I've had a stressful day at work." he says quietly.
"Dad, can we go talk to y/n's friends and see if they can help us get rid of these flashbacks and nightmares? She said they helped her out a lot and she seems happy with them. Can we give it a try?" Trey begs.
Gary nods, "If that is something you think would help, we can go and try it. Do you want to try it, Donnie?" Gary asks him. Donnie nods. "I'll try anything to get them to go away." he replies.
Gary sighs, relieved that the boys were willing to try it. "I will ask y/n for the phone number and names of them tomorrow when we go to meet with her for wherever she is taking us." he tells them.
"You boys gonna be ok to sleep in your rooms tonight or do we want to camp out in the living room again?" he asks. The two boys grin and ask to camp out in the living room. Gary gets up and goes to get his phone from his room. He grabs his pillow and the comforter from off the bed. He drags them to the living room where the two boys did the same.
"Everyone remember to set alarms on your phones to get up and get ready?" he asked them. They both nod. He checks to make sure his is set and that it is plugged in to charge some more.
Gary lays down on the floor on his back with a son on either side of him. They look up at your painting and think about the fun camping trip they had in Colorado. "Dad, do you think we could figure out a way to go camping and take y/n with us so she can be comfortable and have fun too?" Trey asks.
Gary chuckles. "Let me think about it, Trey. Maybe I can figure something out." he replies. "For now, go to sleep. Morning will come fast for us and we don't want to make y/n late." he tells his boys. They cuddle against him and everyone falls asleep pretty quickly after that, dreaming about camping in Colorado along the river with the waterfall.
***********
Morning arrives and your alarm is playing "Good Morning" by Mandisa.  You wake up chuckling, remembering the nurse who programmed it into your phone. She made you promise to always use that ringtone for your morning alarm to remind yourself that today was another blessing for you to wake up to.
You excitedly got up and got ready. You showered and got dried off. You picked out a pair of blue jean shorts, an army green tank top, your brother's army light weight jacket with your last name on the patch, and picked up your tool to help you get your socks on so you could wear your new tennis shoes today. You got dressed and groaned at the thought of tying your shoes again. You wished you had gotten Gary's cell number or his sons' number so maybe one of them could come tie them for you. You shrugged, and decided to slip into them and see if one of them would tie them for you before you all left. You ran a brush through your hair and pulled it into a pony tail and slid on your brother's army hat.
You went to the kitchen and made a bacon, egg and cheese muffin in the microwave like your nurse friend had shown you as an easy breakfast you could make in a hurry. You made an entire pot of Peppermint tea and poured it into your thermos so you had enough to last you through the day.
You sat down with your breakfast and a glass of orange juice as you checked your e-mails on your phone. You had a message from your counselor reminding you of your appointment tomorrow, and some e-mails from your friends back home wondering how you were faring in your new home. You replied to the e-mails as you ate, telling your friends about Gary and his sons and how much of a blessing they have been to you since you met them.
Your friend, the firefighter who had found you called you and the two of you talked for a bit until you had to leave. You told him about Gary and his sons and how Gary asked you out on a date in the not so distant future. Your friend told you he was happy for you and he hoped your relationship with Gary worked out. He teased, "I want an invite to the wedding!" and you both giggled as you said goodbye.
You picked up your shoes and loosened the laces so you could slide into them and then grabbed your keys, purse and thermos. You headed out the door and down the hallway to Gary's door. You rang the doorbell and looked down at your feet, staring at your unlaced shoes. You looked up when you heard the lock turn and Donnie opened the door.
He grinned and stepped aside to let you in. "Dad, Y/n's here!" he called out. You chuckled.
"I like your outfit!" he said as he looked at your jacket.
"Thanks Donnie, The jacket and hat were my brother's. They were in his duffel bag and when the tornado hit, it flung the bag almost 50 miles away. It landed in a farmer's yard and he saw the name on it and called the Army. They somehow gave him my last known address and he brought it to my hometown. When he learned I was in the hospital from the tornado hitting, he brought the duffel bag up to the hospital and gave it to one of my nurses. She apparently dumped it out and washed all the clothes and linens and put all the important stuff like his id, dog tags, and medals into a bag and kept it in the hospital's safe until I was ready to leave." you explain.
"Wow!!! Cool!" Donnie says. You chuckle. Donnie looks down at your feet and sees your shoes are untied. "Did you need some help tying your shoes, y/n?' he asks. You look down and nod.
"Yeah, I hoped one of you might help me out with that one. I can't reach them to tie them. Usually I just have them loose so I can slip in and out of them, but I got yelled at by my PT for doing that cuz it's hard on the heels of the shoes and it doesn't give my feet the proper support they need." you explain. "I haven't figured out yet what to do for them so I don't have to ask for help every time I want to wear them." you sigh.
Donnie chuckles and kneels down to tie them for you. "Well for now, you can come ask us, at least till school starts." he says. You grin and thank him.
Just then, Gary comes around the corner from his room and sees Donnie kneeling down, tying your shoes for you. He grins and comes over to give you a hug. "Sleep well?" he asks. You nod.
"You?" you ask him. Gary rubs his neck, "Yeah, till around 2am, then Trey had either a flash back or a nightmare about the tornadoes, then we were all up for a while. Ended up camping in the living room again." he sheepishly admitted. "We're all dragging a bit this morning." he informed you.
"It's ok, I allotted enough time so we'd get there early anyway. We can pick up breakfast for you guys on the way if you want." you offer. He grins and thanks you.
"Trey, you almost ready?" Gary asks. "Yeah, I'm coming." Trey replies as he comes walking into the kitchen with a yawn. "Rough night, Trey?" you ask. He nods. "yeah." is all he says.
"Well I think you'll like where we are going and what you'll see." you tell him. Hinting at the day's plans. He looks at you questioningly. You grin.
"Come on, I'll get you all breakfast. Let's get going." you tell them.
"Would you mind if I brought my video camera with, Y/n?" Donnie asks.
"No, you can bring it if you want."  You tell him.
Gary chuckles. "Donnie likes to take videos of stuff we do as a family." he explains.
You smile and nod. "Come on then, lets head out." you tell them.
Gary opens the door for you and the four of you head out. Donnie locks the door and you all head to the parking lot. You walk over to your gold 2003 Honda Accord and unlock the doors for them with your key fob.  You open the skylight and they all climb in. You laugh as Gary has to slide the front seat back a bit for his long legs. Much to Trey's dismay. "DAD!!! You're squashing my legs!" he teases. Gary just laughs and scoots the seat up one notch.
You chuckle at the two of them. "So what do you guys want for breakfast?" you ask. They decide on a fast food restaurant so you head there and go through the drive through, they place their orders and everyone gets orange juice to drink and Gary also gets a coffee.
"Aren't you gonna eat, y/n?" Trey asks after you pay for the food and hand them the bags of food and the drink trays. You chuckle, "No, Trey, I ate already." you tell them, "You guys go ahead and eat. I have to drive anyway."
They eat and try to figure out where you're taking them. Once you pull into the parking lot, Trey's eyes get huge. "Are you getting your dog today, y/n?" he asks excitedly.  Gary looks over at you and you try not to smirk. But the twinkle in your eyes and your grin tell him that is exactly what is going to happen. "You'll just have to come in and see for yourself, Trey." you manage to get out. Gary just chuckles.
You all hop out of your car and head over to the building. You hand Gary your keys and tell him that if the boys get bored, he can take them to go do something else but to leave you his cell number so you can call him when you're done. He grins and looks down at you. "I realized last night, I didn't have your phone number." he chuckles. "Felt kinda dumb, knowing I asked you to go out with me and forgot to get your cell number." he teases.
You giggle. "Here, give me your phone and I'll put mine in yours and you can put yours in for mine." you tell him. The two of you swap phones and enter your phone numbers and names into the cell phones. Donnie and Trey are looking around at all the people and dogs. They see you and their dad messing around on cell phones and come over to see what you two are doing. They both get huge grins when they see the two of you hand the phones back to each other.
Donnie claps and teases his dad, "So ya finally got her number huh? I suppose that means you two are dating?" he pokes his dad's arm with a grin.
Gary blushes and looks at you. You nod and he says, "Yeah, Donnie, we're dating." Donnie grins a huge grin. "Good! So, y/n where is your dog?" he asks looking back to the line of dogs.
You look for the one that looks like a gray wolf but don't see him yet. "I'm not sure. But we are here about 10 minutes early, so he may not be here yet." you tell them. "Let's go find a place for you guys to sit and watch. I need to go check in and let them know I'm here." you tell them.
You all walk over to some seating that has been set up. You introduce yourself and Gary and his kids to the attendant and she instructs Gary and his sons to have a seat on the bleachers or in the chairs on the floor. She tells you to head over to the table to get the paperwork that will need to be filled out and get registered.
You give Gary a hug and then they head over to sit and watch while you go to the table to fill out all the paperwork. You come back over to them after a few minutes with a pile of papers. You sit down and start reading through them. The boys ask you questions and you let each of them read the paperwork after you finish reading and signing them. They hand each one to Gary when they are done reading them and he takes a look at them as well. Once you all have read through everything, you head back over to the table to turn in said paperwork. You are given a number and told to come up to the podium when your number is called and you will be matched up with your dog and it's handler.
You head back to sit with Gary and the kids until your number is called. You all have fun looking at all the different kinds of dogs that people are getting. Some of the people are veterans of war, some are missing limbs, some are civilians who are needing the animal for a variety of reasons. The four of you watch in rapt fascination as you are able to observe the different people learning how to handle their dogs and give them different signals. Some of the ones who are helping people with missing limbs are even able to help them get from the floor to a sitting or standing position, which fascinates Trey.
You are one of the last people called to be trained with your dog. You head over to the arena's podium when some of the other recipients and their dogs head out. Your handler explained why they saved your dog for last.
"Because he was trained to help with your anxiety, flashbacks, and also as a guard dog, we wanted to wait till the other dogs had left the arena." the handler explained. "Your training will be different than the others'." you asked the handler if your boyfriend and his children should also be trained to handle Zeus should something happen to you where you need help. He thought for a minute, then replied, "If you think it would be beneficial and you see this being a long term situation, then yes, they should also be trained to handle him. That way he will consider them part of his 'pack'. " the handler replied.
You went to tell Gary and the boys and they were surprised, but agreed to come and be trained. They followed you back to the arena where Zeus sat patiently with his handler. The handler had you all line up and introduced each of you to Zeus and showed you how to introduce him to people you deem ok. He sniffed each of your hands and then licked them. The handler told you that when he does that he is learning your scent and him licking your hand is his way of learning the taste of your skin and strengthening the scent marker for him. He instructed all of you what to look for when Zeus realizes you are having a panic / anxiety attack, flashback and tells you what to do as far as how to handle him. Donnie asks the handler if he would mind if he video taped the training, so if they have a question or can't remember something, that they can go back and rewatch the video. The trainers nodded and gave him permission.
The trainer shows you all how to put on Zeus' service animal vest for when you are out in public and shows you each patch signifying what all he is trained in. Companion animal, Service animal, scent tracking, and guard dog / body guard. He explains to all of you how to handle the public when they approach you while Zeus is "working" and instructs you all not to let the public pet Zeus when he is working unless you feel it is okay. He reminds you all of the proper way to introduce Zeus to people and has you all practice it.
Then he informs you what businesses can and can not do to both you and Zeus. He tells you to always keep Zeus' paperwork in his holster on his vest so you have it with you all the time. He gives you the information to report a business that violates the laws regarding service animals which you enter into your phone immediately.
He shows you all how to care for Zeus and then starts to teach you all the hand signals / commands for the dog. "We taught him with nonverbal commands so only you and those you choose will be able to command him. He will only respond if it is people in his 'pack' giving him the commands." you all are told. "You may train him with verbal commands as well if you like but use the hand symbols to reinforce the command so he makes the connection between the two." you are instructed.
The trainers and handlers spend the rest of the morning with you all as you learn the commands and practice them with Zeus. The last thing they show you before lunch is how he was trained to protect you. They teach you all what to look for as his warnings when he senses something or someone he deems isn't safe to be around.
They also show you how he is trained to attack, how to give the command for him to attack and how to get him to stop. Trey is fascinated by the trainer in all the padding until he sees the handler give Zeus the command to attack the trainer in all the padding. The dog lurches forward at a run and is snarling and growling and barking as he charges the trainer. He jumps and grabs the trainer's arm which was holding a gun, and the dog brings the trainer to the ground and keeps him from being able to use the gun. Once the command to stop is given the dog immediately stops and backs up, letting another trainer in a police uniform help the trainer up.
Next they show how he attacks if you are attacked by someone from behind. Another trainer in padding comes up behind you with a rubber knife and holds it to your throat. The trainer tells you to give Zeus the command to attack and to just stand still after that.
You do so and Zeus attacks the man's legs and gets him away from you and then goes after the hand with the weapon.  When you are instructed to tell Zeus to stop, you do and he stops immediately and backs up between you and the attacker while he waits for the trainer in the police uniform to help the other trainer up.
Finally they show you what to do if you are being mugged by someone who is standing in front of you with a knife. You are instructed to give Zeus the signal to attack and he charges the person in the padding attacking them in the arm first to disarm the knife then when the attacker starts to struggle against the dog, he goes for the groin, making Danny, Gary and Trey cringe and unconsciously cover their crotches. You try not to giggle. Zeus drops the attacker with that move and keeps the trainer pinned to the ground. They tell you to give him the command to stop. You do it and again Zeus backs up to allow the trainer in the cop uniform to help the other trainer up.
They go through a few more pieces of information with you and then emphasize to Gary's boys, that the attack commands are meant for your protection and are ONLY to be used in cases where you are truly in danger.  They emphasize to all of you, that Zeus will not attack unless given the signal, but he WILL raise his heckles, growl and act menacingly to try to scare off anyone he senses is a danger to his 'pack' and that you all should never ignore those signals from him.
They recommend you teach him a command to "Go get Gary... Go get Trey... Go get Donnie." once you get home and show him how to get from your apartment to theirs and to show him where the doorbell is for each apartment. They told Gary and his sons, that Zeus will ring the doorbell incessantly until someone answers and that if that happens to tell him to "find y/n" and that they should follow him immediately to wherever he leads. They nod, wide eyed at the dog and Gary looks at you amazed.
They give you all some time to get to know Zeus and they take his "Work vest" off. They tell you all that he knows what is expected of him when he has his vest on, and that he knows that when he has it off, he is allowed to play and be a normal dog, but that he will still do all his training if the need arises.
They let you all play with him in the arena and let him get used to his new 'pack'. He seems to have a particular affinity for you and Trey and repeatedly nuzzles the two of you often. He goes to Gary and Donnie as well, but seems to favor you and Trey more so at the moment.
Gary asks the trainer in the officer's uniform about that. The trainer tells him, "Zeus can sense different things, for some reason, he senses Trey is struggling with something and is trying to give him comfort like he was trained to do."
Gary asks the trainer if the training Zeus received to be a guard dog is any different than what a police dog gets. The trainer chuckles. "Well I'm a K-9 officer here and I help train our dogs for the city's PD. Zeus' training is very similar to what our police dogs go through. The only thing Zeus didn't get trained for is 'search and rescue' and 'drug sniffing'. Otherwise it's pretty much the same training as the K-9's get for the PD. You can rest assured, she is well protected." he tells Gary with a chuckle.
Gary's eyes widen for a moment. "Oh! I was wondering if you were a real officer or if you were dressed like one as part of the training." he replied.
The officer chuckles. "No, I'm a real officer. We get called on every once in a while to do this kind of training for special cases." he explained. "We heard about y/n's story from some friends in the Fire Dept and they asked us if we'd train y/n's service dog to be a guard dog as well since she is new here and has no living family left to help protect her. They wanted to be able to assure their comrades in her hometown that had rescued her from the apartment that she would be kept safe here. So we did the training, free of charge as a favor to them." he explained with a grin.
Gary thanked him. "I just met y/n a few days ago, and we've fallen in love with her. We are from Silverton and realized we had a lot in common with her once we got to talking. We were out in Sillverton when the tornadoes hit last summer. Trey and I were trying to find Donnie when the storms hit our community during graduation. Donnie got trapped in a paper mill that had collapsed on him and his friend. Trey and I ended up traveling with storm chasers to try to get through Silverton and the storms to rescue Donnie. We almost lost him and each other. A few more minutes delay and Donnie would've drowned in the pit they jumped into. It has filled with water by the time we got there and yeah, it was real scary. The boys and I have all battled with the flashbacks and nightmares from it." Gary told the officer.
The officer looked at Gary surprised."Wow. Well I'm glad you all survived. Y/n seems like a great gal and I hope Zeus serves her well. Hopefully he can help you three also when you are with her." he tells Gary. "Don't be afraid to ask for help though, with yours and your boys' flashbacks and nightmares. Even we officers, go to counseling to help us cope with a lot of the shit we see on the beat. It helps immensely to be able to talk about everything and be able to get a fresh perspective on things." he mentions to Gary.
Gary nods. "My youngest had a bad one last night and asked to go and talk to the ones that y/n sees." he informs the officer. The officer puts his hand on Gary's shoulder, "Then I suggest you schedule an appointment soon. Zeus will help him when he's around, but the best thing you can do for your boys is to take them to see the counselors y/n sees. It would also encourage them if you went and participated as well. They have different options. There's sessions you can do as a family, or you can let the boys do individual ones, and so can you if there's things you need to discuss that you don't want your boys hearing about." The officer recommends. "Talk to y/n and have her help you set it up." he suggests.
Gary nods and thanks him. "Any time, Gary, any time."
Zeus comes running up and drops a ball at Gary's feet and sits down and gives him a quiet "wuff". The Officer chuckles. "He wants you to throw the ball." he tells Gary.
Gary squats down and picks up the ball. Zeus nuzzles his hand and licks it as he picks up the ball. "wuff" Zeus says to Gary and Gary chuckles and tosses the ball over by Trey and you.
"Ok, folks, I think that's enough play time for Zeus. Do you have any other questions before I let you leave with your new dog?" the officer asks. No one has any questions so he puts Zeus' vest back on and hands each of you his card. "If you have any problems or questions about Zeus or his behavior, don't hesitate to call me and ask." he tells you all. "I will also put my card in here on Zeus' vest so if you lose your card, or someone needs to know who trained him for the body guard aspect you can show them this card in his vest pocket." the officer tells you.
You nod and thank all the handlers and the trainers. They all wish you luck and let you head out with Zeus. You clip the leash onto his harness and you take your supplies they gave you and Zeus' toys and you head out into the sunshine.
"So what now, y/n?" Trey asks. You think for a minute. "Well, I need to go to the pet store to get him food and supplies. So I guess you're all coming with!" you giggle. Trey and Donnie cheer. "Can he sit in back with us while you're driving?" they ask, making you chuckle.
Well, I don't think your Dad would enjoy having a big dog like Zeus sitting in his lap in the car, so yes, Zeus can sit in back with you two." You tell them.
Gary chuckles when they both cheer. You unlock the car and hit the button for the trunk release. You put the bag of paperwork and Zeus's toys and supplies in the trunk of the car. Then everyone piles in and Zeus hops up next to Trey in the back seat, then Donnie gets in and closes the door.
"Everyone in?" you ask.
"Yup!" Trey replies.
You pull up the closest pet store place and head there. Gary studies your face for a bit while you're driving. You glance over at him and chuckle. "What?" you ask him.
He just grins, "It's nothing." he says and looks back at the two boys with the dog. Zeus is sprawled across both of their laps. His rear on Donnie's lap and his head on Trey's. They're both petting him and looking out the windows.
"I think that's the quietest I've seen them in the car in quite a while." he says quietly.
You grin.
You see the pet store up ahead and pull into the parking lot. You park and look back at the two boys, who are thoroughly enjoying the dog's presence. "Well, we're here. Now to find all the stuff I'm gonna need." you sigh.
I'm gonna have to take one of you shopping with me when I need to get food for him. There's no way I'm gonna be able to pick up those big bags of food!" you tell them. The three of them just grin. "Anytime y/n!" they say and then laugh.
You all get out of the car and Trey holds onto the leash until you walk around the car to join them. "Here, y/n." he tells you holding out the leash. You think for a moment, "How about you hang onto him for me, Trey. I'm gonna need my hands free to push the cart and grab the stuff he will need." you suggest.
Gary smiles when he sees Trey's face light up. "Really? I can walk him for you?" he asks. You give him a grin and nod. He just beams and says, "Come on Zeus, lets go get you some stuff for your new home with y/n!"
Zeus looks up at Trey and says, "Wuff." which makes Donnie giggle.
You all head to the door of the store and Gary grabs a shopping cart. He lets you push it and you ask the employee standing by the door where the section for dogs starts. She points you over to the left side of the store and says, "That whole half of the store is for Dogs. Oh! What a beautiful dog! May I pet him?" she asks
"Thank you, but not right now. He is working and we just got him and are still getting used to him and his mannerisms." you tell her. She nods. "If you have any questions on what you'll need, feel free to ask any of us working here." she tells you. You thank her and the four of you head over to the Dog section with Zeus.
Gary watches Zeus' reactions to everything carefully. He is surprised that Zeus stays right by Trey's side and doesn't try to go wandering around and doesn't try to chew on the toys that are right next to him. Whenever you stop to look at something, Zeus just sits down and watches you, patiently waiting for you to move on with your shopping.
You look at the different dog foods and wonder which one Zeus would eat. "Zeus, which food do you want?" you decide to ask him. He gets up and comes over to you and looks up at you. "Get your food, Zeus." you tell him.
He cocks his head to the side and you repeat yourself to him. He stands and walks over to the food bags and starts to sniff each one looking for the one he is familiar with. Trey follows him holding onto the leash, letting him smell each bag. When Zeus finds the one he wants, he sits down by it and says, "Wuff" then noses the bag.
You look at Gary and Donnie and shrug. "I guess that is the one he was fed by his handler." you reply. "I wonder how much he will be eating?" you ponder. "Let's get two bags and see how long it lasts him." you say.
Donnie walks over and picks up one bag and plops it into the shopping cart, then goes and gets another one and drops it in too. You notice the metal garbage looking cans for storing dog food and point to one of them on the top shelf. "Can one of you guys grab that for me?" you ask. Gary goes over and pulls it down. "I'll just carry it for you, y/n. I don't think it'll fit in that shopping cart." he chuckles.
You nod and thank Gary. You all wander through the aisles, picking out a de-shedding comb, and shampoo and clippers for the toe nails, a dog bed, dog bowl for food and one for water.
"Dad, can we get him a water bowl and some toys to have at our place for when he comes to visit?" Trey asks. Gary shrugs. "If you want to get them you can, Trey. You're earning money with the paper route you do in the mornings." Gary replies.
"y/n, do you mind if I do that?" Trey asks.
You chuckle, "That's fine, Trey, that way I won't have to lug toys and such back and forth. Trey takes Zeus over to the toys and tells him to pick out some toys.
You all watch as the dog sniffs at different toys and noses some of them. He picks out a frizbee, a ball, a big rawhide bone and a squeaky duck. He proudly carries the duck back to you squeaking it repeatedly with a goofy look on his face. You laugh and try to take it to put it in the cart and he tries to "Wuff" with it in his mouth. Trey giggles and tells him. "Zeus..." when the dog looks at Trey, he motions to the dog to 'drop' the toy. Zeus huffs and drops the duck. Trey picks it up and carries it with the other stuff Zeus picked out for toys.
Trey takes Zeus back to where the food and water bowls are and picks out a water bowl for Zeus to have at their place. Then they come back to where the rest of you are at.
"Hey! Look at these!" Donnie says as he grabs something and brings it over to you. "Look, they clip on the leash and it's a little roll of bags you tear off to put his poo in when you take him for walks!" He says as he shows it to you.
You giggle and tell him to toss it in the cart. "Does it have refills?" you ask. He goes back to look and nods. "Better grab a pack of the refills too. I'll need them eventually." you reply.
"Is there anything else we need?" you ponder. You spot an employee and call him over. You explain you just got Zeus and don't know what all you will need. He looks at what all you picked out and asks, do you have a flea and tick collar for him? They need to be replaced every so often. He shows you where they are located and you pick one out. Trey looks to see if he has one on now and he does. "When that one wears out, depending on when it was put on him, just replace it with this one when the time rolls around." the employee tells you.
"You might want to consider getting a tooth brush and tooth paste for him, they are over here and it's really easy to get them to let you brush their teeth. Don't forget treats and I might suggest getting a tag for his collar with his name on one side, and yours and your phone number on the other side. In case something happens and he gets separated from you." the employee suggests. "It makes it much easier for people to return the pet if they can just look on the collar instead of having to take him to a vet to have the microchip read." he informs you. You nod. "Well, he is a working dog, and not just a pet, but I think that is a good idea anyway." you reply. "Thank You!" you tell him.
You grab the toothbrush and paste, and show Zeus a few different packages of treats. "Zeus, which treats do you like?" you ask pointing to the bags. He goes over and sniffs them he picks up one bag and brings it to you. You motion for 'drop' and he drops it then walks back over and sniffs the bags again and picks out another one, bringing it to you and drops it. "Good boy!" you praise him.
Donnie grins and puts the other treat bags back in their spots on the shelf, and grabs another one of the bags of treats that Zeus picked out to keep at their apartment. He tosses it to Trey who grins and catches it and adds it to his pile in his arms. He spots a basket and dumps them all in the basket then picks it up and carries it.
You all head up to the till area and spot the name tag machine. You head over to the machine and Trey and Zeus follow. Gary offers to stay in line with the cart and wait for you with Donnie. You and Trey pick out a fire hydrant tag and you type Hi, I'm Zeus!  for the front of the tag, and on the back you type in Y/n and your phone number. Trey watches in fascination as the lazer engraves the information on the tag, flips it over and engraves the name and phone number on the back, then drops it into the grab bin. He reaches in and pulls it out and looks at it.
"Cool!" he exclaims and hands it to you. You head back over to the Cash register and stand in line with Gary and Donnie. You show them the tag and then spot a little medical information booklet that you can keep in your purse and put all of Zeus' info in it. You grab one and toss it in the cart too.
Zeus sits patiently by Trey's legs, careful to keep out of the way of other people and shopping carts. "What a well behaved dog!" a lady behind you says.
You turn and say, "Thank You! We just got him as a service animal for me." You reply.
The lady huffs and looks at you, "Why do you need a service animal?" she says snidely. "You look fine!"
You hear Gary growl under his breath. You put a hand on his back and give it a gentle rub.
"I have spinal and pelvis injuries which required massive surgery and months of rehab after a tornado ripped through my hometown last summer, causing my apartment building to collapse on top of me. I suffer from PTSD and also have difficulty doing some everyday tasks. Zeus here is my service dog to help me with those things that I need help with." you patiently explain. My boyfriend and his two wonderful sons, here offered to help me shop for supplies for my new dog. That is why Trey is holding onto Zeus for me." you tell her.
"Oh." she replies. You turn and move forward when you see the line shift up. You look up at Gary and he is smiling at you. He wraps an arm around your shoulder and kisses the top of your head. You lean into him and wrap your arm around his waist. Once you reach the cashier, Donnie unloads the stuff onto the conveyor belt and you move to pay for the supplies. "Will you let me get these for you this time?" Gary whispers to you as he watches Donnie unloading the supplies. You look up at him surprised. "Why?" you ask quietly.
"Because I'd like to and can afford it, and want to help you out." Gary replies. You shrug. "If you want to, I guess you can." you tell him. He kisses the top of your head again and pulls out his wallet. He hands the cashier his card and pays for the supplies. Trey puts his basket on the belt behind your purchases and the cashier rings them up as Donnie loads the cart back up. Trey pays for his purchases and then you all head out to the car. "Thank you, Gary. You didn't have to do that, you know." you tell him as Trey pushes the cart and you hang onto Zeus' leash.
"I know. But I wanted to." he says, giving you a gentle hug. You smile and give his waist a squeeze as the two of you walk to the car. You pull out your keys and push the button for the trunk. "Think you two can load that stuff into the trunk for me?" you ask. They grin and nod. You unlock the car and you let Zeus in the back seat and motion for him to sit. He does so and waits for Donnie and Trey to get in the car. You and Gary get in the front and hold hands. "So now what do you wish to do for the rest of the afternoon?" he asks.
"I'm hungry. How about we go get some food and ice cream for dessert?" you ask. Gary grins and nods. Trey and Donnie hop into the car and Zeus is excitedly licking their faces. They both start laughing and pull the doors closed.
You start the car and head to your favourite restaurant that serves food and icecream. You all order and the waitress asks if you got a new dog. You tell her yes, and introduces her to Zeus. You explain he is your service dog. She asks if you would mind if she brought your dog a little treat. You nod and tell her that is fine. She heads off to place the orders. She brings you all your beverages and a bowl of water for Zeus. Then she leaves you all to talk and after a while she brings your all your food. She even has a little plate with some steak cut up in bite size pieces for Zeus. He gives her a soft "Wuff" and goes about eating his treat while you all eat. You feel him lie down by your ankle and grin.
The server comes back over and asks how your food is, and takes the empty plate that had Zeus' food on it. You all finish eating and then order ice cream for dessert. They have an ice cream bar where you can pick from different flavors, so you all go over to see what they have. You pick out a mint chocolate chip and a chocolate and marshmallow swirl ice cream. Donnie picks a moose tracks ice cream, Trey picks the superman rainbow swirl ice cream and Gary picks a double chocolate chip ice cream. You ask the server if you could have a small scoop of plain vanilla for your service dog and he smiles and scoops out a small scoop, puts it on a doggie sized ice cream cone and lays it in a bowl for Zeus. He hands you the bowl and smiles.
You all walk back to the table to enjoy your ice cream and you all chuckle and look under the table when you hear Zeus grunting and crunching on the ice cream cone. "I didn't think he'd actually eat the cone!" Donnie said chuckling. "He seems to really like it." Gary said chuckling as Zeus looked up and licked his chops.
"Are you guys ready to head home? I could sure use a nap!" You ask. "Donnie and Trey nod, but you notice Gary looks bummed. "Y/n, could you come over after your nap and watch us play some video games again?" Trey asked. You looked at Gary and he smiled and nodded.
You grinned. "Sure. I just need to get a few things situated with Zeus and then we will be over after my nap." You promise, making Trey grin.
You all stand up, and Zeus backs out from under the table where he was hiding. "Come on Zeus, let's go home." you tell him. His ears perk up at the word 'Home' and he sits patiently for you to get ready to go. You take the leash and start heading for the cashier. You hand her your debit card and pay for everyone's food. Then you all head out and pile back into the car. You listen to the two young men in the back seat talking about the video games they were playing and you glance over at Gary. He is grinning and looking at you. You blush and pat his hand that is resting on the arm rest next to you. He smiles and takes your hand in his and brings it up to his lips and gives it a gentle kiss.
You grin and give his hand a squeeze as his kiss sent butterflies loose in your belly. You are tired from all the activity you aren't used to and sigh contentedly.   Gary chuckles and gives your hand another gentle squeeze. Soon enough you all are back at the apartment. You let Zeus and Trey and Donnie have fun exploring around the outside of the apartment. While they are doing so, Gary leans against one of the trees and pulls you close to him.
"Thank you for taking us with you this morning." he tells you. "I think Trey might be hanging out at your apartment a lot in the forseeable future. He always wanted a dog, but his mom was allergic to them and always told him no." he explained.
You grinned. "You and the boys are always welcome at my place, Gary." you remind him and give him a hug. "Thanks for coming with, and helping out with the shopping." you say with a wink. Gary grins and kisses you gently. "Want me to have the boys carry up the bags of food for you?" he asked.
You nodded. "Well I certainly can't lift them!" you chuckle. He smirks.
You hit the button to open the trunk and Gary moves over to take out the can and the bags of dog food. He hands you the bags with your other purchases and the stuff from the Trainers. Gary  calls the boys over to carry the bags of Dog food up to your apartment and he takes the metal Can for you. You all head up and you let them go first so you can let Zeus sniff around and get familiarized with the apartment building.
You see the manager of the building and introduce him to Zeus and explain he is your new service dog. The man happily holds out his hand to Zeus who sniffs it and gives it a lick. The manager asks if he can pet Zeus. You tell  him he can this time, but normally you aren't going to let people pet him when he is 'working' in his vest. He gives Zeus a scratch on the head behind his ears and you giggle as Zeus' leg starts thumping on the floor as the manager hits an itchy spot. He chuckles and welcomes Zeus to the apartment.
You thank him and head up to the landing where the guys are waiting for you. You tell Zeus that this door is where Gary, Donnie and Trey live and show him the doorbell. Zeus sniffs around the door and the doorbell then sniffs Trey's and Donnie's and Gary's feet. They chuckle and you head down the hall with them until you get to your apartment. You open the door and head in with Zeus. Gary and the boys following.
"Where do you want the can for the food, Y/n?" Gary asks. You think and tell him to put it in the storage room and to have the boys fill it with the two bags." he nods. "Gary, put one of the empty bags between the can and the wall so I remember which bag of food I need to get for him next time and so the can won't scratch the wall.
"Ok, Love." he replies and they go to take care of the dog food. You sit down on the couch and take Zeus' vest and harness off. You let him snoop around and get familiarized with the apartment.
Soon Gary and the boys are standing in the living room watching you interact with Zeus. "We'll head out, Y/n, so you can take a nap and rest up. Come over when you're ready to hang out and watch us play some video games." Gary tells you.
You look up, smile and nod. "Thanks again you guys, for coming with and all your help!" You tell them.
"Bye Zeus," Trey says as he squats down and motions for Zeus to 'come'. Zeus trots over and Trey gives him a good scratch along the collar and smuches his face into the dog's fur. "See you after a while. Be good for y/n now!" he tells the dog. Zeus licks his face and puts his chin on Trey's shoulder like a hug. Trey melts and looks up at his Dad, who just chuckles.
Gary comes over to you and gives you a peck on the cheek and tells you. "See you later, Love. Go to sleep now and get some rest."
You nod and follow them to the door. Zeus follows and you motion for him to 'sit' and 'stay' before you open the door. He does so and the guys step out of your apartment and the two boys head down the hallway. Gary looks over his shoulder and then looks back at you and gives you a steamy, passionate kiss as he pulls you close for a hug. You grin and bring your hands up in to his hair and he lets out a quiet groan and pulls you up against him and nibbles at your lower lip.
His phone starts to ring and he groans, "Brats! They have keys and can get in." he mumbles into the kiss. You giggle and he pulls away. "I will see you in a few hours, Sweetie." you tell him and give him another kiss. Go spend some time with your boys. I'll text you when I'm on my way." you tell him. He sighs and nods. He gives you one more peck on the cheek and turns to leave. He stops at the corner and looks back at you and Zeus standing in the doorway. He gives you his panty melting grin and nods before turning the corner and heads down the hall.
You sigh happily and close the door and lock it.
"Come on, Zeus, let's get your bed set up so I can go take a nap!

Thinking back on it, Mari realised that she may have overreacted a little by running off on Oscar the other night. There was a certain softness in his eyes when he had looked at her, a genuineness when he had asked her to stay that she had been too ashamed (and maybe a little too scared of rejection) to let herself notice at the time. It hadn’t been for very long, and it hadn’t been anything real, sh had Oscar that night on Halloween; for the time they were together, he had been hers, all of him.
Now she was back where she started, with a head full of what-ifs. What if she had never moved to Freeridge? What if Oscar hadn’t come to her rescue when the Prophet$ rolled up on her? What if Geny hadn’t closed the door and Oscar hadn’t had to rescue her then, too? What if she hadn’t snuck out on her birthday? What if Trey hadn’t interrupted them at the hospital? What if she hadn’t fallen in love with someone who seemed intent on not loving her back?
What if she hadn’t left the other night?
Even though she knew it was no use dwelling on things like that, she couldn’t seem to stop it. The thoughts were crashing in like a tidal wave, flooding her mind with every waking moment and she was powerless to stop it.
It was all quickly becoming too much. She was drowning, but up until now, she had been holding her breath, desperate to fight it and get her head above water. Up until now, she hadn’t questioned whether the struggle was worth it. Now she wondered if maybe it would be easier to just let go and take a breath.
It certainly didn’t help that time seemed to be mocking her. Each second that ticked by added a little more weight to her chest until she felt like she couldn’t breathe like she was inching closer and closer to a bomb that would go off at any second. She had been waiting in the reception room of the medical clinic for almost an hour - she had even arrived early so not to miss her appointment but they had yet to call her name.
The waiting was the worst part. All she wanted was to know what was wrong with her (though she’d bet they needed more than just a blood test to figure that out). She wanted to know why she had passed out and why she was constantly feeling so rundown, even when things were looking up.
She didn’t want to come off as impatient but her nerves were getting the better of her as her fingers tapped against the arm of the small plastic chair. The place wasn’t even busy. Aside from her, there were only three other people in the waiting room; an older man with greying hair who was leaning on his walker, and a young mother with dark curls that resembled Mari’s who was bouncing a fussing baby on her knee.
The baby was crying, screaming like he had it worse than Mari. The young woman offered a bottle that the baby didn’t want and shushed him under her breath but it went unnoticed as the baby continued to cry. She was so young yet she had so much responsibility - Mari wondered how she did it, how she coped with it all. She definitely didn’t envy her.
She almost envied the baby though. A part of her wished she could just open her mouth and scream, but she knew it wouldn’t do any good. She had to be positive and every single day she had to do her best with the life she was given.
“Mariana Martinez?” The doctor finally called.
“Uh, yeah,” Mari responded as she fumbled out of her seat, “that’s me,”
The doctor was a middle-aged white lady - a lady who looked a little too like her mother for comfort. Although they looked eerily alike, the subtle differences were striking; where her mother’s hair was dark blonde and matted, the doctor’s hair was light and neatly styled, her cheekbones were high but her face was less sunken and she had sharp lips that were pulled into a kind smile instead of an unamused pout. This woman was happy, healthy.
The woman smiled and nodded her head in a “follow me” sort of gesture. The clipboard in her hand was setting Mari even further on edge. A clipboard meant bad news, right? If it were good news they would have told her over the phone.
Despite the desperate need for something to ease her tension, they didn’t say anything until they had reached the office.
“Sorry about the wait,” the doctor said as she closed the door behind them. Mari sank into the armchair across from the desk, relishing in the way the cushions felt against her exhausted muscles. She had a feeling that this moment of comfort would be the last one she’d get to have for a while, so she was going to enjoy it while she could. “I’m doctor Judy O’Connor. I’m sorry it took so long to get your labs back, unfortunately, we don’t have a pathologist here in Freeridge,”
“That’s okay,” Mari responded, sinking into the chair as doctor O’Connor sat on the other side of the desk.
“How are you feeling?”
The tightness in Mari’s chest vanished as she let out a quick laugh. How was she feeling? That was a loaded question, so she settled on the simplest answer.
“I mean, I’m a little scared,” she admitted, “there’s obviously something wrong for me to be sitting here right now,”
Doctor O’Connor shook her head, looking down at the clipboard that held Mari’s test results.
“I don’t believe there’s anything to be scared of, however, I did notice something in the results that wasn’t mentioned to me by the nurse, or in any of the hospital reports,” she set the clipboard down on her desk and folded her hands. The way she leaned in ever so slightly set Mari on edge, like she was gauging the younger girl’s reaction, ready to jump in if things went south. “I don’t think there’s an easy way to say this, so I apologise. Mariana, do you know that you’re pregnant?”
No.
No, she wasn’t.
She had taken a test and it was negative, right? She hadn’t had her period for a few months, and she had been feeling a little bloated lately, but those were just side effects of the pill. She wasn’t pregnant, she couldn’t be.
“It’s possible the test was a false negative,” the doctor told her. Mari hadn’t even realised she’d said those things aloud. Clenching her hands into fists until her nails pierced the skin of her palms, Mari tried to focus on the woman before her. “And you’re right, those are side effects of the pill, but judging by these test results I’d say you’re almost six months along,”
It couldn’t be true, she told herself. It couldn’t be true because if it were, that would mean that she was pregnant the whole time she was drinking and getting high. It would mean she was pregnant the whole time she wasn’t sleeping or eating.
If it were true it would mean she was already a bad mother, before she ever got the chance to try and be a good one. Maybe things like this were genetic.
“But I’m not- I don’t even look pregnant!” Mari stammered, grasping at straws for any shred of doubt, any hope that the results could be wrong.
“That’s actually more common than it seems. There are several reasons that you may not show during pregnancy, but it’s most likely the baby is in a posterior position, meaning their spine is against yours. We’ll need an ultrasound to know any more,”
Sure, it was the kind of thing that was common enough to have a reality show about it but sure as hell not so common that you ever plan for it to happen. It had happened though, and she had to move on and live with it, but how? She was sure she couldn’t keep working, god forbid she tell Geny and Ruben, they surely wouldn’t allow her to bring something like this into her home. She had enough money for a motel for a few nights but beyond that would be touch and go.
Not to mention she didn’t even know what she wanted to do. Would she keep it? The alternative was terrifying. Either way, she knew she had to choose, and either way, she knew she would never be the same.
Mari wished she had any delusions about who the father was, but if she really was almost six months along then there was only one person who it could be.
“Now, Mariana,” Doctor O’Connor continued, saving Mari the pain of having to even think his name, “I think we need to discuss your options,”
. : ♱ : .
Two lines.
Two small, pink lines. That’s all it took for the crushing weight of reality to squander what little doubt, what little hope, Mari had left. Doctor O’Connor had given Mari a pregnancy test, along with letting her keep a copy of the official blood test results, hoping that it would help Mari come to accept the truth.
The truth was that none of this was her fault; the whole situation was outside of her control, but she was the one who had to live with the consequences. The truth was that she was pregnant and stuck in Freeridge, the baby’s father completely out of the picture. Mari saw the truth for what it was; she was just like her mother at this age.
Panic tightened around her like an invisible corset, squeezing and squeezing until she couldn’t breathe. Discarding the god-forsaken stick in the trashcan beside her, Mari dropped to her knees and let all her pain and anger leave her body as she retched into the toilet bowl. Bile burned the back of her throat, sweat covered her forehead catching strands of hair like a spider’s web and she held the test results in her clenched fist. She held on so tight her knuckles started to pale. It was as though she just couldn’t let go, as if letting go would mean acceptance and she just wasn’t ready for that quite yet.
Mari didn’t pick herself up off the floor until she heard the others come home. As noiselessly as possible, she washed her face as Olivia, Monse and Jasmine headed to hers and Olivia’s shared room. Desperate not to make a sound, she rinsed the foul taste from her mouth as Ruby pitched his new business idea to Jamal.
As an avid reader of magazines (although she usually skipped right to the horoscopes) it was hard not to see all the pregnancy horror stories; how people never quite lost the weight, their bodies were never quite the same, the way the post-natal depression brought them down despite their months of excitement. No matter what she chose, to keep it or not, she would be irrevocably changed, mind and body.
Maybe it was shallow to even think it, but she was just eighteen and she was only starting to feel confident in her body. She thanked Oscar for that, but now that confidence was being taken from her, too.
She wasn’t ready for this, any of this. Here she was, hiding in a bathroom too afraid to step outside and face her friends and family just in case they figured it out. If other people knew then she had to face it and she couldn’t do that, so she sat and she waited and she didn’t even care if she looked ridiculous later on when everyone was home and wondering where she had been. She just needed more time to be alone.
Well, as alone as she could be right now.
Before she had any time to process, a few things happened in rapid succession. First, only separated by a few walls, Mari heard the front door slam. The sound made her jump, but when she heard police sirens blaring, followed by Jasmine screaming, her heart began to race. Had something happened to someone while she was in here wallowing in self-pity?
And then, lastly, she heard it. The deep, rough voice that she knew too well, the voice that haunted all of her favourite daydreams. The voice that, right now, made her want to disappear. What was Oscar doing here?
Instinctively, her body stilled. If he knew she was here…she wasn’t ready to face him, not like this. Her eyes were red from crying all morning, she still felt nauseous (and she was sure her breath was terrible), and her shoulders were slumped like she just didn’t have the energy to try anymore.
This wasn’t how she wanted to see him. He was sure to see the test results, if not he definitely couldn’t miss the pregnancy test. He would know in an instant. Not to mention she would have to explain why she didn’t wait for him on Halloween. She would have to tell him, again, that she just couldn’t take the rejection, that she wanted more. And then she would have to stand there and take the rejection anyway and she just couldn’t do that.
What she hadn’t realised was that while she was here, hoping to any god that would listen that she wouldn’t have to see him, she had stopped trying to listen to what was going on outside. But by the time she had realised it, it was already too late.
She heard that gruff voice ask “where can I take this?”
“There’s no one in the bathroom,” Ruby responded.
Shit, she thought, wondering if there was any possible way for her to get out of this.
But there wasn’t, and the gods were not on her side as the bathroom door opened and Oscar stepped inside.
Mari’s heart caught in her throat as she pushed back against the anxiety that was flooding her veins and held her breath. Her heard was hammering so hard and fast against her ribcage she wondered if he could hear it, but he didn’t seem to notice her immediately.
“Sí, sí, me ocuparé de eso. Estaré allí,” he said into the phone. Mari used his brief moment of distraction as an opportunity to just…look at him. Thick, tanned arms glistened with sweat, his brow furrowed and his dimples were still visible, even when he wasn’t smiling. This man was beautiful and, like the naive girl she had always been, Mari was falling in love with him.
And then, like he could sense her thoughts, he turned around and he saw her. He kept the phone pressed to his ear but the way his features softened as he saw her said he was no longer listening. All Oscar cared about right now was the state that she was in; her eyes were red from crying, her hair was a mess and she looked far too pale. Still, he was happy to see her.
“Let me call you back,” he said to whoever was on the other line and promptly hung up the phone, not bothering to wait for a response. Turning his body to fully face her, he took a couple of tentative steps toward her; enough to be closer, but not enough to penetrate her personal space, just in case she didn’t want him there.
A beat passed between them, as though the universe was giving them a moment to breathe before the whirlwind started again.
Breaking the silence, Oscar murmured a small “hey,”
Mari looked up at him beneath her thick, tear-dampened lashes and uttered a small “hi,” in response. She cursed the way her voice broke, she hated looking weak in front of Oscar. But she wasn’t ready for him to talk yet - if he talked he was going to ask questions and she would have to answer them, so she asked first. “What are you doing here?”
Oscar gestured to the door and said, as though it was supposed to answer anything, “lockdown,”
“And you just ended up locked in my house?”
“One of the homies were shot. Cesar wasn’t answering his phone, thought he might be here,” he glanced down at the floor and added, “and I hoped I’d run into you,”
Her heart stopped beating for just a moment. Did he just say that? Did Oscar Diaz, feared Santo, just admit that he came here, at least partially, to see her? What on earth was this man trying to do to her?
“You weren’t there” he continued, “the other night, when I got back,”
She sighed, “I…”
She what? She was scared of her feelings, ashamed that she had cheated on Trey, guilty that she didn’t feel guilty about it. There was nothing she could say that would make the situation any better, so she did what she was best at and deflected the question.
“What would you have said if I had stayed?” She asked, her voice growing louder as she feigned defence while desperately hoping he would be honest and just tell her.
He took another step closer.
“I’ll tell you when you answer me,” he countered. It was times like these that Mari wished he didn’t know her so well.
She slumped and ran a hand through her hair, avoiding his gaze. “I was scared, okay? Shocking, I know. But I had just cheated on a really, really good guy with someone who has made it clear he doesn’t want anything more and I…Oscar, I still want more, okay? I was in a bad place and I just couldn’t deal with you telling me no again,”
“What if I wasn’t gonna say no this time?” He said it so soft she thought she was hearing things, but when she looked up into those sparkling brown eyes she knew he was telling the truth. “I was gonna say that I want you. That I hated seeing you cry over some douchebag who doesn’t deserve to touch you and that I liked being the one to make you feel good again. I don’t care what your family or the cholos have to say about it; I want the same thing you do, mami,”
She couldn’t believe her ears. Any other day she would’ve been over the moon to hear this but today…today it felt like one more thing she couldn’t have. It wouldn’t be fair to bring him into this, so she couldn’t accept what he was telling her. For one, she had to be the one to break his heart.
“I can’t,” she didn’t look at him as she stood, “I’m sorry but I can’t be with you,”
Oscar’s fist clenched at his side and he squeezed his eyes shut as though wishing it away would undo the words she had just said. He couldn’t be hearing this, not when he just let her in for the first time.
“Mariana,” he breathed, his voice almost pleading, “if this is because of how I-”
“Trust me, Oscar, this isn’t about you,” she made for the door but a pair of hands on her waist stopped her. He pulled her into him and wrapped his arms around her, holding her there even if it was only for one last time.
Mari couldn’t do it. She couldn’t stand here and let him hold her like everything was the same because it wasn’t. Her life was about to change and she wasn’t the same girl she was yesterday. So, mustering all of her strength and willpower, she placed her fists on his chest and pushed - forgetting all about the test results that were still in her hand.
Oscar frowned at the paper she was holding, noting the name of a medical clinic on the header.
“What’s that?” He asked with a nod. Mari shot away from him and hid the results behind her back, like that would erase them from his mind.
It didn’t, and Oscar wasn’t having it. He lunged forward and reached behind her, snatching the paper from her hands before she could even think to stop him.
“Oscar!” She cried, reaching out for him, but it was no use. The moment his soft features contorted into a look of shock and hurt and anger, Mari knew it was too late.
And then the lights went out.
She was almost grateful that she couldn’t see the look on his face because that look had cut deep into her soul and she felt like she was bleeding out. He was angry. Her life was being flipped upside down, and he was angry.
“Fuck, Mari,” he hissed in the darkness, “were you even going to tell me about this?”
Oh, that's why he was angry. Of course, he thought he got her pregnant and then had the nerve to be pissed about it.
Why did things like this keep happening to her? Why was it that she was always having to bear the consequences of other people’s actions? Anxiety at the hands of her mother’s abuse, starvation due to her mother’s addiction, and now this. She was sick of it.
With a bitter laugh, Mari fought back tears.
“Well you don’t have to worry, Spooky,” she spat, “the baby isn’t yours,”
All of a sudden he was standing barely an inch from her, she felt the warmth of his body, could smell the cigar on his breath. Mari didn’t need to see his face to know how it looked, she could tell from the way his shoulders tensed and his breath came out in short puffs. If she could see him, she’d say that his brow was probably knitted together, his nostrils flared and his lips pressed together in a tight line.
“See that don’t make no sense to me, Mariana, because I know you didn’t fuck Trey,” his voice was deep and thick with refrained anger. Her body shook; not because she was scared of him but because she knew was going to be forced to tell the truth, to face her past and let someone else in on it. “And you said I was the first guy that...”
He looked away, his words trailing off as though the mere thought of someone else touching her rendered him unable to speak.
And then, with as much strength and bravado, as she could muster despite her hammering heart and icy veins, Mari spoke for him.
“My mother’s boyfriend,” she said, her voice much smaller than she had hoped it would be, “He raped me. That’s why I left, why I came here. I’m sorry if I wanted to convince myself that that didn’t count,”
Once again she found herself glad that he couldn’t see her because her chest constricted and tears sprung to her eyes. She said it.
She said it.
It was real.
It happened and she couldn’t repress those memories anymore.
Her lungs burned as she gasped for air. A small light came from somewhere beside her but she barely registered it as her vision blurred. And then she was in Oscar’s arms again, but this time she didn’t fight it. This time, she let her arms wind around his middle and she sobbed into his chest.
Oscar’s hand gently ran through her hair. He wanted to say something, anything to make her hurting stop, but he knew there was nothing he could say. All he could do was hold her, and he was more than happy to do that.
They stood like that for a while, silently wrapped up in each other with only the light of the flashlight from Oscar’s phone. Eventually, Mari stopped crying. When she had calmed down a little more, she sat atop the closed toilet lid, Oscar only leaving the bathroom to get her a glass of water.
“You gonna keep it?” He asked, well aware that it was none of his business, but wanting to be there for her regardless. He knew her better than she thought he did, better than anyone knew her, and she wouldn’t tell anyone if she wasn’t pushed to it. And if she didn’t tell anyone, it would destroy her.
Mari shrugged. “I don’t know. I made an appointment anyway, for two weeks. Doc said that’s as much time as I have to decide,”
“You know,” he said, resting his hands atop hers as he crouched to her level. The last thing he wanted to do was intimidate her, and though she wasn’t usually scared of him, she was vulnerable right now and he didn’t want to trigger any alarms that may be lying dormant in the back of her mind. “I’m still in this, Mari,”
Lifting her chin, Mari looked up to meet his deep brown eyes. Her gaze trained on his, she searched for the lie she had convinced herself he was telling. He couldn’t mean it, could he? And if he did, she couldn’t let him. Just because her own life was ruined didn’t mean she had to drag him down with her.
Releasing a shaky breath and a shake of her head, she said “I never wanted any of this. I never wanted you caught up in my mess,”
The corner of his lips twitched up into a smirk (the kind that was teasing yet genuine and never failed to make her insides melt) and he gave a half-shrug.
“Too bad, I’m caught. I’m gonna be here for you every step of the way, okay? I’m not about to let you deal with this alone,”
No, she refused to burden him with this. “Oscar, as much as I appreciate it, I can take care of myself,”
“No doubt, mami, I know you can,” his smirk grew to a wide, exuberant grin. “But you aren’t just looking out for yourself anymore; now you gotta take care of someone else. I have a little experience with that. And I meant what I said before, I want in, nena. It’s gonna take more than a kid to scare me off, Mariana,”
And he meant every word.
Oscar had spent so long being afraid of the things she made him feel. He wasn’t about to waste any more time that he could be spending with her; Mariana Martinez was the one thing in this damned world that made him feel truly happy, he wasn’t willing to lose that feeling.
Slowly, Mari broke into a smile as his words sunk in - Oscar wanted this, wanted her. Without a second thought, she leaned in and captured his lips. Her hands found the back of his neck while his arms snaked around her waist. He pulled her closer into him and allowed her legs to wind around his torso as he grabbed her by the thighs.
Oscar stood, lips still on hers, Mari still wrapped around him without even an inch of space between them. This. This was that happy feeling he was thinking about earlier - the taste of cherry lipgloss and the weight of being a Santo lifted from his shoulders and her curls falling around his face and just, for once, he wasn’t Spooky. With her, he was just Oscar.
And then the lights came back on.
Breaking the kiss, Mari smiled up at him. Oscar smiled back and ran the tip of his nose softly against the bridge of hers.
And then his phone buzzed and it was back to reality, but the dream wasn’t over - they both knew this was far from the end.
With an almost inaudible sigh, Oscar checked his phone.
“It’s Santos stuff,” he said, “I gotta head out,”
Mari nodded. She understood that she couldn’t always be his priority, but it still felt good to know she was one.
“Go,” she offered a smile as she gestured to the door. Oscar couldn’t seem to control his smile as he pressed another kiss to her cheek. It wasn’t often that Mari had the chance to see this side of him, the side that was pure joy, but she loved it.
As she watched him turn his back to leave, all her old insecurities crept back up to the surface. They had been in this position before - happy and kissing and seemingly on the same page, and then he leaves and all of a sudden they’re in completely different books. She couldn’t let this end the same.
“Wait, Oscar,” she called. Without hesitation, Oscar turned back at the sound of her voice. “We’re together, right? I mean, I…it sounds stupid, I know, I just kinda gotta hear it,”
Oscar smiled once more, that deep, dimpled smile, and he nodded. “Yeah, mami. You my girl,”
Her face lit up in a smile that rivalled his own and she crossed the room to kiss him just one more time.
“Just do me one favor; don’t mention it yet. I want the Martinezes to hear it from me first,”
“You got it, nena,”
With one last kiss to her forehead, he was gone. But Mari didn’t mind, because he was hers, and he would be back.
Mari snickered as she heard Spooky yell “y’all messed up!” There was a certain amusement in his tone, a light to his voice that Mari loved being the cause of.
She waited a few more minutes until all the commotion died down before she finally left the bathroom. As she did, she felt like some of the fog that’d been blurring her mind finally cleared. In all honesty, she didn’t know exactly where she was going from here but she wasn’t feeling as lost as she was before.
Maybe it was the rose-coloured glasses she was seeing the world from at the moment, maybe he was just always on her mind, but for whatever reason, when a knock sounded at the front door Mari was sure that it would be Oscar. After all, who else could it be?
Boy, was she wrong.
Because standing there, on the other side of the door, was her mother and the man that haunted all of her nightmares.

Chapter 193
Cammie
"So should I be mad about this?" I ask MiMi.
"What?" she says biting a piece of fruit. She grabs my phone. "Text messages?"
I stroll to the next picture. "It's a DM."
She looks at it closer. "Is it legit?"
"Who knows? He not gonna let me see his phone if he thinks I'm checking it because of a rumor."
"What?" She says. She shrugs. "You know I have every right to have trust issues. You don't."
"I actual do but whatever."
She wipes her hands off. "Do you want to start trouble?"
"I don't but these messages talking about where he gonna be."
"Okay, he motherfuckering Trey Songz. Somebody bond to know where he is. I mean it aint that hard if you know somebody."
I shrug. "Anyway. April and Rose want Caden and Lane."
She smiles. "That's cute."
"Yo." Chris says walking into the kitchen followed by Trey. "I'm out."
"You don't have to be in New York until tomorrow." I snap. "Why you suddenly leaving cause Amber gone?"
He kisses my cheek. "Love you too."
I scrunch up my face. "Yeah, whatever."
"Aye, what is this?" Trey says picking up my phone.
"What?" Chris says peeking over Trey's shoulder.
Oh no. Everything happening too fast. I'm trying to catch Chris so I can make him more willing to go to Chicago so Amber can surprise him. But at the same time Trey has my phone with the texts that I was sending a random person. I mean I know who's number it is but it's not saved in my phone. I'm not telling him it's K. Michelle. We not having that conversation on top of this conversation.
"What the fuck is this?" Trey says.
"Let me see that." Chris retorts.
"Don't you have a plane to catch." MiMi snaps.
Chris looks closely at the phone. "Clearly this shit fake."
"The fucking problem comes when your wife believing the fake shit." Trey says.
"Who said I was believing it?" I spat.
He does something on the phone. "Who is this chick? I hate finding stuff out like this. Trifling maybe? Should I keep reading?"
"I'm sure we all can read." MiMi says.
"Who fucking number is this? You didn't bother saving it but you replied."
I sigh. Well, I think I'm deciding not to answer him. Any of his questions. Like I wasn't even for real about what I was saying to Kim. It was a joke. But I don't feel like telling him that it's K. Michelle. Then he gonna go on about how she not my friend and shit like that. So I'm just gonna have an attitude so he shut up.
"Aye, Trey." Chris says snatching the phone from him and putting it down.
"Jayla, you not talking?"
I shrug one shoulder. "You talking about something?"
"Alright." He says walking away.
"See you." Chris says hitting MiMi on her ass. He bumps my back with his shoulder. "Keep your head up."
I roll my eyes looking over at MiMi. "Ain't this some shit? I wasn't even going to say nothing to him about it."
"Bae."
"It's not even fair that I get attitude about his fucking shit."
"We not doing this." MiMi says standing up. "You eating before we practice?"
I snatch my phone off of the counter. "Fuck no. I don't feel like shit. Let's just go."
"Did you pump?"
"Yeah." I say dry as hell.
She sighs. "I'm not liking this. I mean it's only a rumor right?"
"MiMi, how am I supposed to know or even ask?"
"Okay then. Moving on. So you think we did a good job ensuring that Chris goes to Chicago? I feel like we did a great job."
I look at her. "We didn't do nothing."
"I feel accomplished."
"Shut up."
"I mean... Whatever, Camille." She says putting her seat belt on. "How come we have to get a driver every time?"
I take out my phone. "I'm calling Buggiz."
"Why?"
"I need somebody that likes me that understands Trey. And keeps my secrets. That's the biggest thing." I wait for it to pick up. "He not answering."
The front window opens. "You calling me?"
I jump towards the front of the car. "Buggiz! Oh my gosh. I love you. Why are you here?"
"I planned for this. I took that 3 month contract... You don't remember?"
"I honestly don't. Listen to this Buggiz... So I texted Kim and she sent me all these DMs and private chats and different stuff with Trey and this other girl. The thing is she been in two of his most recent videos. I didn't even ask him about but he blew up because he saw the text from an unknown number."
"Cammie why you hiding K. Michelle's number from him?"
I sigh. "Cause I don't feel like hearing it."
"But you hearing it."
"Okay, my fault on that."
He nods. "So if you not tripping about this DM shit then why is it a problem?"
"I don't know."
"Believe me, Bae, he over it." Buggiz says. "How are the babies?"
I sit back folding my arms. "Rose and April want them to come to Virginia."
"That's nice."
"Bug, no. I don't want my baby leaving me."
He looks around. "How long is it?"
"One night." MiMi adds dramatically. "I say you let them."
"You sending Minnie to Chicago!"
She rolls her eyes. "My mother in law ain't nothing like April. Plus they live in the hood. I'd send my baby with April to Virginia."
"Anyway, Bug. I'm not talking about that either."
"It's your right." he chuckles.
MiMi giggles. "Buggiz April on her way here right now. Those babies leaving here tomorrow."
"Just because she coming?" I snap. "MiMi you annoying me seriously."
"So, Cammie!" she says putting her hand up to the side of her face. "Negative energy."
I roll my eyes. "So about the game last night."
MiMi takes out her phone. "Let's talk about these earrings I'm getting for my wedding."
"You having a wedding?"
"Bitch shut up." MiMi says giving me her phone. "$6,000 on my ears."
"That's ridiculous. Devin is not buying you those."
She hands me her phone. "Oh the way bitch. I'm new money."
I laugh. "Well shut my fat mouth. These are fucking beautiful. What is the theme?"
"I don't know." she shrugs. "Wedding planner. That ain't April."
"April had a wedding planner thank you."
"Like I said that ain't April."
I drop her phone in the seat. "Anywho..."
  Alex
"Does this make my ass look big?"
I look up from my computer. "Excuse me?"
He stand in front of the mirror. "How much we looking at? I need about 5 million a year."
"You don't play good enough to get 1 million in a 5 year contract."
"You got jokes."
I sigh. "No, I'm being real. Who did you know that got you this appointment? You are in no way eligible for any of my sponsorships."
"But you know who I am?" he says confidentially.
"Don't assume because I'm a female that I don't know basketball. I know D league players. I know College sophomores who have the potential to get draft in two years. I know that you have only played an average of 5 minutes per game since your final round draft pick 5 years ago. I don't have the time to entertain your ego. Now pick my autographed 5 million dollar football shoulder pads down before I have you arrested for touching shit."
He chuckles. "Only 5 million? I would've..."
"Let not." Jamaal says walking into the room. "Why do you have that shit on your little ass shoulders? Come on my man. You know your appointment is downstairs. It's start small and at less leave the building with something."
"Big J." he says once Jamaal takes the shoulder pads from him.
I roll my eyes as Deon chuckles. Motherfucker. I hate this sexist as male dominating environment at times. That's probably the reason that my father put Jamaals ass next to me. Fucking business partners my ass. I better always make more money than him.
"Bullshit like that make me hate this job."
"Hmm." I say rolling my eyes again.
Jamaal sits on my desk. "You bugging on me again?"
"No."
"Damn it happens daily now." He says standing up. He comes around the desk. "I got something  for it today."
"Your little dick?"
He kneels down in front of me. "Look at you thinking about sex. I swear you a fucking man. You sure your pussy real?"
I laugh. "Jamaal, what? So you okay with fucking a man?"
"Naw." he laughs. "Bitch, just accept my gift."
"You on your kneels in front of me. It better be some fucking bombass head and not a fucking ring."
He grabs my foot. "See what I'm saying? Your father should not have treated you as you were his son."
"You know in all your references of me bring a man you are the bitch in, right?"
"I would gladly accept the role of a manly man loving a wannabe man."
"But we are both men?"
He bites my leg. "Shut the hell up. I will take this back I swear to you."
I put my foot on his knee to see what it was that he put on my ankle. I gasp. Just beautiful. It was a gold bangle with a single diamond on it. Its glorious. Like perfect. I hold my foot up in the air. I feel like Jamaal has been writing down shit about me for the past year or however long he has been here just for these fucking moments. Like I go back and forth with myself all the damn time wondering if I should be in this relationship with him. Every time I think it he does something that confirms that I should.
"Jamaal." I say as he slides his hand up my inner thigh.
"You welcome." he says kissing my thigh then standig up.
I put my foot up on the desk. "This is perfect with these shoes."
"Act like a lady." he says taking my foot down. "Gossip for today?"
"You still into that?"
"What else would I do if I didn't stay up to date on my shit? Lakers looking for a sponsor. Cammie's best friend is having a wedding are you invited?"
I roll my eyes. "Are you serious? You so petty?"
"Disney is having an annual and guest who isn't invited?"
"Who?"
"Oh no I'm invited. You aren't."
I giggle trying not to laugh at his stupidity. "Jamaal, who cares about Disney? When is this wedding that I'm not invited to?"
He struggles. "I don't know, darling."
"Your gossip sucks. It's half ass shit."
"Rumor has it Trey Songz has a baby on the way."
I sit up. "Like strong rumor or petty shit rumor?"
"Petty shit of course. Falicia. Ring a bell?"
"No."
"She is Cammie's assistant. Also former assistant to..."
"Jada Pinkett."
He roars with laughter. "I need to stop with my gossip don't I?"
"You do, Jamaal. You sound like a school girl."
"Rumor has it Jeffery is looking for an agent."
"Ha." I say waving my stick note. "Done."
"When did you do that?"
I stick it back on my agenda. "While you were getting that useless gossip. So Cammie's assistant is freely giving away information?"
"No. Trey himself."
"You bonding with Trey?"
"Businessing with Trey."
"Jamaal."
He laughs walking towards the door. "I'm done with you."
I stand up from my desk. "So what do you think of me? You always coming in with expensive as gifts and shit."
"What do I think of you? Sounds a bit... Hmm. Insecure."
"Stop."
He walks back towards me. "The gifts are just a stroke of my ego. Got to make sure my gifts are more meaningful than papas. You pout he throws out the red carpet. You squeeze he runs with golden tissues. I'm in sports because I'm a natural competitor who choices not to compete in sports but micromanage those that do."
"Are we talking about me or you? I'm not impressed."
"Kudos." he says then laughs kissing my lips.
I don't know. He walks away again. I hit him in his back. He spins around with a mad look on his face. Oh big deal. I don't believe I really knew Jamaal. He took the time to know me but I never cared enough to pay attention to the way he acts or the things he said. Kinda confusing. He bows with his hand held out to me. I roll my eyes then sit down.
"Get lost."
"How come you aren't wearing underwear? Laundry day?"
I chuckle. "My balls get hot."
"Yeah?" he says kneeling down on one knee.
"Listen... What's your middle name again?"
"I'm not telling you." he snaps. "I never told you."
"I write your checks..."
He runs his hands up my thigh. "Correction. You used to write my checks."
I turn the chair away from him a bit. "Whatever."
"I'll tell you if you get nasty."
"What the hell?" I laugh.
He starts to say something but then Jewels walks into the room. That's my sister from another pussy. I smile at her then start laughing at her face. She was staring at Jamaal, who didn't bother acting like he was doing anything other than what he was.
"Oh hell no. That's tacky as shit. The two of you are rich enough to fucking take off work and get a hotel."
"Jews." Jamaal says grabbing my thigh and turning me to him.
Jewels sits in front of the desk. "Fucker."
"Rathrr fuck than get fucked."
"Okay." I say pushing him to the floor. "Hey, Bae. The news is?"
"So you know... Wait first thing first. No, I'm not pregnant. Thank the Lordt. So you know Cammie's little sister?"
I nod. "Of course."
"She all on SnapChat talking about how her and my cousin getting married and shit. I'm like what the entire fuck? Kain is a fucking stupid ass. This nigga calls me talking about how she fucking his homeboy and shit now he back with the bitch. I swear bitches ain't shit. They in Atlanta. I should run through that bitch. Like I'm pissed the fuck off."
"Are you?" Jamaal asks her.
I fan him away. "Girl you can't be in his relationship like that. He will always choose his first. Why they in Atlanta?"
"I need for you to talk to your cousin."
"Technically speaking Mommy not my cousin. That bridge burned when my uncle passed. God rest his soul."
She rolls her eyes. "So technically I can whip her ass?"
"Technically no."
"Dinner tonight?" Jamaal asks leaning over in my face with his hands on my thigh.
I look at him. "Depends."
"On?" he says then gets really close to me.
"Yes, Jamaal. Go to your office. Get out of mine."
He stands up. "Only because you have Jews in your office."
"Jewels." She retorts emphasizing the 'els'.
"I say 6 o'clock."
"That's too early for dinner, Jamaal." I spat.
He turns around and grabs his dick. "It ain't about eating."
I shake my head. "Go."
"To my office." he says turning back around.
"He too fucking happy. He needs to go back to being untight and... Gay."
I laugh. "He still gay."
"The fine ones always are."
"What happen with your girlfriend again?"
She rolls her eyes. "Don't be funny. You know it would have never lasted. Dick be calling my name. I went to the gym and I almost came out that bitch pregnant again."
I laugh. "Please stop."
"For real though. I like you and him. Cute power couple."
"Enough talking. Look at today's gift." I say putting my foot up.
She takes out her phone acting uninterested. "Anyway."

Frat Boys and Fuck Toys [Prologue]

Notes: References to sex, sexual innuendoes, hook-ups. This is the first part of my new Bucky Barnes series, so I hope y’all like it!! Read and enjoy! That is pretty much it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Have you seen my shirt?” The boy questioned and you simply shook your head from the bedroom doorway, foot tapping impatiently on the soft carpet as you watched him find it, nursing a glass of orange juice and waiting for your painkillers to kick in to combat the super-hangover you were sporting. Giving up waiting on him, you wandered downstairs, back to the kitchen, greeting your other housemates and helping yourself to a bowl of cereal, sighing as a pair of hands landed on your waist. Clearly, he hadn’t yet gotten the message.
A pair of lips pressed to the back of your neck, hands holding you against the counter on either side in an attempt to trap you and you simply scoffed, turning and ducking under one of the offending arms. “Look, pal, you’re gonna’ have to go, I have a busy day today, but we’ll do this again, I’m sure, okay?” you mumbled emptily, pushing him towards the door as he started listing off his number as if you had actually meant it. Closing your fingers around the handle, he simply leaned against the wall inside, leaning in to kiss you again.
Swerving it, you pulled the door open and shot him a syrupy-sweet smile, pushing him backwards as he stumbled out onto the front porch. “This was fun, bye, Trey!”
“My name is Ted!” He shouted back as he began to walk backwards and you shrugged.
“Yeah, course it is. Sorry, Tim!” You rolled your eyes, slamming the front door shut, retrieving the silence you wanted, before another booming voice cut through the quiet. You pinched the bridge of your nose, eyes clenching shut and you tried so hard to hold in the smile on your face.
“Where the hell did the rest of my choco-nut extra-crunchy crunch-tastic cereal go?” The deep, raspy voice of your roommate echoed and you shoved another spoonful of your breakfast into your mouth, crunching loudly as you listened. “I know one of you had the last bowlful, the box is out on the counter and- I HEAR CRUNCHING. Y/N. YOU THIEF.” You snorted, placing the bowl quietly on the floor and dashing down the corridor towards the stairs as he rounded the corner from the kitchen.
Barely making it up the first step, arms wrapped around your waist and you laughed, being pulled backwards, legs kicking in the air as you were carried away. Pinching the bicep of the man holding you, you were dropped and you scooped your bowl of cereal back up, dashing towards the kitchen and hopping up on the counter, pushing another spoonful into your mouth, milk dribbling down your chin as you laughed.
Bucky’s eyebrow raised as you watched him pant lightly having chased you, and he leaned forwards, licking the milk off of your chin, tongue trailing a wet stripe up your cheek as he licked up to your hairline before backing away. Your groaned, forfeiting, and handing the bowl over to him as you wiped the side of your face on your own shoulder, the material of the shirt drying your skin.
“You are disgusting, Buck. You’re an animal.” You mumbled and he smiled a widely, a toothy grin, causing you to laugh at the cereal stuck between his teeth as he did, mouth still full as he spoke around it; “Oh, you love me, anyway. That is what you get for eating my cereal.” He mumbled and you were almost sure bits of it were going to fly out onto your face.
“Close your mouth when you eat, Barnes. Not everyone wants to see the mashed up version of your beloved breakfast.” Natasha piped up, not even looking up from the morning crossword she was so rapidly completing, biting into her avocado toast and making a purposeful show of chewing with her mouth closed.
Handing the bowl back to you, he decided to share and you plucked the spoon from his fingers, getting another mouthful as he parted your legs, standing between them, hands rested on your thighs and squeezing lightly. Lifting the spoon to his lips, he accepted the portion of cereal you were feeding him, before you took your own mouthful again.
Tony stepped into the kitchen, scoffing at you both, eyes wandering over everyone harshly before he sighed loudly, hoping for attention as he flicked the coffee machine on. No one had done it yet and you snorted at him, rolling your eyes playfully. He was the only one who liked to use the fancy coffee machine, everyone else preferred to just make it themselves.
Scraping the last bit of cereal from the bottom, you offered it to Bucky, pressing the spoon to his lips and he accepted thankfully, nodding along in agreement to whatever Steve had said. Enjoying the warmth of Bucky stood so close you, hands still on your thighs, the moment was broken when a pair of small arms wrapped around his waist, the acrylic nails scraping against your leg as they did and you yelped, jumping backwards on the counter and rubbing the stinging spot.
Sucking in a breath, Bucky detached the arms that had linked around his waist and turned to face the girl, smiling a tight-lipped smile as she leaned up, and he moved his face at the last moment, her lips pressing to his cheek instead. “Hey, Lisa!”
“My name’s Liz-”
“Right, yeah, of course. My bad. Anyway, isn’t it time you go? Your friends must be worried sick!” He faked concern and she pouted, shaking her head.
“No, I thought I’d stick around! We could have breakfast in bed..” She leaned in, closer to him and grinned. “I’ll let you eat it off my body, if you know what I mean!” She squealed, winking, and you cringed, knowing you weren’t the only one, a muffled gag coming from Tony as he sipped his coffee and a blatant ‘gross’ coming from Sam, who didn’t even try to disguise it, receiving a glare from the girl, only resulting in the pair of you giggling.
“Wow, as amazing as that sounds, truly, I wouldn’t want anyone to be worried about you!” He tried again and she shook her head, pulling is hands around her waist towards her ass, as if she had no shame about there being five other people in the kitchen.
“No, I text my friends an-”
“And.. I have an appointment in twenty minutes, but why don’t I give you a call later, yeah?” He nodded desperately, pulling her towards the door as he opened it, ignoring the chatter she was giving, leaning down to press a kiss to her cheek.
“Wait, you don’t have my numbe-”
“If it’s meant to be, I’ll guess it!” He laughed, closing the door while she argued and he sighed, shaking his head as he padded back to the kitchen. “She was far less annoying last night.” He mumbled, sitting at one of the stools around the counter.
“You were far less sober last night.” Sam countered and you laughed, high-fiving him.
“Yeah, Buck, this one seemed nice!” You poked and he rolled his eyes, shaking his head.
“Not my type.” He simply spoke, and you opened to ask what exactly what his type was, before Tony cut in.
“Barnes, anything with boobs is your type. It’s a wonder there’s anyone left for you to take home at this point. You’re a man whore.” Tony spoke bluntly, and you bit your lip, trying to hold in your laughter and failing miserably, clutching your sides as you laughed.
“Oh, you’re one to laugh, Y/N.” Bucky huffed, turning back to you. “If you wrote down the name of every guy you’ve slept with and enlisted them all, you could probably use them to invade a small country.” He bit back and you gasped, slapping his arm in shock.
“That was uncalled for. You’re mean.” You pouted, sticking your tongue out at him and he rolled his eyes, stepping away from you and waving over his shoulder.
“Fuck you all, I’m going to get dressed and actually enjoy my last day before we start up again for a second year. I’m going to the fair, who’s coming?” He grinned, everyone shifting into action as they tidied the kitchen, dumping all pots in the sink and covering it with a cloth until later, as everyone shuffled out, excited for their last day of summer break.

Double Header - Congressmen Trey Gowdy and Jim Jordan question Rod Rosenstein
Double Header - Congressmen Trey Gowdy and Jim Jordan question Rod Rosenstein
No doubt it is time to remove the biased special counsel Mueller
00-00
there are a lot of issues that I would
00-01
like to ask you about mr. Deputy
00-03
Attorney General we had a terrorist
00-04
incident in New York this week we have
00-06
702 reauthorization that is pending in
00-09
Congress gun violence the opioid
00-11
epidemic criminal justice reform but
00-15
when I go home to South Carolina this
00-17
weekend trust me when I tell you no one
00-19
is going to ask me about any of those
00-20
issues they're gonna ask me what in the
00-23
hell is going on with the Department of
00-25
Justice and the FBI the reason we have
00-29
special counsel this is a very important
00-31
point the written you know it the reason
00-33
we have special counsel is because of a
00-35
conflict of interest the regulation
00-38
itself specifically makes reference to a
00-41
conflict of interest and and we don't
00-43
like conflicts of interest because it
00-45
undercuts people's confidence and both
00-48
the process and the result so so let's
00-50
be really clear why we have special
00-53
counsel there was either a real or
00-55
perceived conflict of interest that we
00-58
were fearful would either impact the
01-00
result or people's confidence in the
01-03
process that's why we have something
01-05
called special counsel and that's why we
01-08
have special counsel in this fact
01-10
pattern and then lo and behold those who
01-13
are supposed to make sure there are no
01-16
conflicts of interest seem to have a few
01-18
of their own there's a senior prosecutor
01-22
who said obsequious emails to a fact
01-26
witness I she can be described as
01-30
nothing other than a fact witness she's
01-32
a really important fact witness if you
01-35
pursue the line of inquiry that my
01-38
Democrat friends want to pursue they got
01-40
off of collusion and now their own
01-42
obstruction of justice she may be the
01-44
most important fact witness in an
01-46
obstruction of justice case and the
01-49
senior prosecutor for this conflict of
01-52
interest free special counsel sent a
01-55
fawning obsequious email to a fact
01-58
witness and then we have prosecutors
02-00
assigned to conduct this investigation
02-03
who donated almost exclusively to one
02-06
candidate over another and then we have
02-09
a prosecutor assigned to this calm
02-12
flicked of interest free team that
02-14
attended what was supposed to be what
02-16
he'd hoped to be a victory party for
02-18
Secretary Clinton and we have a senior
02-21
DOJ official mr. Deputy Attorney General
02-23
with an office it used to be two doors
02-25
now from yours meeting with fusion GPS
02-29
and fusion GPS of course was paying for
02-32
rush and dirt on the very person that
02-35
they're supposed to be objectively
02-37
investigating and then that same senior
02-40
DOJ officials wife the one that met with
02-44
fusion GPS his wife was on the payroll
02-47
of fusion GPS and then we have a senior
02-52
agent assigned to investigate secretary
02-55
Clinton's email helped draft the
02-58
exoneration letter well we changed the
03-00
language from grossly negligent to
03-02
extremely careless interviewed Secretary
03-05
Clinton in an interview I've never seen
03-08
and I doubt you have either in your
03-09
career as a prosecutor interviewed
03-12
Michael Flynn was actively involved in
03-14
the investigation into the trunk
03-16
campaign before the Inspector General
03-18
found his text so this agent in the
03-21
middle of almost everything related to
03-25
Secretary Clinton in President Trump
03-27
sent pro Clinton tax anti-trump texts to
03-31
his paramour in response to being told
03-34
maybe he is where he is to protect the
03-38
country from that menace Donald Trump he
03-41
said I can protect our country at many
03-45
levels and then he said Hillary Clinton
03-47
should win 100 million to nothing I
03-50
think about that mr. Deputy Attorney
03-51
General that's a pretty overwhelming
03-53
victory 100 million to zero and when I
03-58
read that last night what I thought was
04-00
this conflict of interest free senior
04-03
agent and the FBI can't think of a
04-05
single solitary American who would vote
04-07
for Donald Trump that's where the zero
04-10
comes in not a single solitary American
04-13
he can imagine would vote for Donald
04-16
Trump this is the conflict of interest
04-18
free special agent aside and then he
04-21
went on if that
04-22
enough to belittle Trump supporters by
04-24
saying he could smell them at a Walmart
04-27
in Virginia this is the person we needed
04-32
to avoid a conflict of interest and then
04-34
he said this they fully deserve to go
04-37
and demonstrate the absolute bigoted
04-39
nonsense of trunk but he wasn't content
04-42
to just disparage Donald Trump he had to
04-45
disparage Donald Trump's family this is
04-49
what he said mr. Deputy Attorney General
04-50
he said the douche bags are about to
04-52
come out he's talking about our First
04-54
Lady and children this conflict of
04-58
interest free special agent of the FBI
05-01
this is who we were told we needed to
05-04
have an objective impartial fair
05-07
conflict of interest free investigation
05-09
so he's openly pulling for the candidate
05-11
he had a role in clearing and he's
05-13
openly investigating a candidate that he
05-16
has bias against and then if that's not
05-18
enough he says Trump is an effing idiot
05-21
what the f just happened to our country
05-24
this is the same man that said he would
05-26
save our country what happens when
05-30
people who are supposed to cure the
05-32
conflict of interests have even greater
05-33
conflicts of interest than those they
05-35
replace well that's not a rhetorical
05-38
question you nor I nor anyone else
05-42
whatever sit Peter struck on a jury we
05-46
wouldn't have him objectively
05-48
dispassionately investigate anything
05-50
knowing what we know now why didn't we
05-54
know what ahead of time and my last
05-56
question my final question to you and I
05-58
appreciate the Chairman's patience how
06-00
would you help me answer that question
06-02
when I go back to South Carolina this
06-04
weekend
06-05
congressman first of all with regard to
06-09
the special counsel mr. struck was
06-12
already working on the investigation
06-13
when the special counsel was appointed
06-15
the appointment I made was to Robert
06-16
Mullins what I recommend that you tell
06-18
your constituents is that Robert Muller
06-21
and rod Rosen Stein and Chris Rea are
06-24
accountable and that we will ensure that
06-27
no bias is
06-28
selected in any of the actions taken by
06-30
the special counsel or in any matter
06-33
within the jurisdiction the Department
06-35
of Justice when we have evidence of any
06-38
inappropriate conduct we're going to
06-39
take action on it and that's what mr.
06-41
Muller did here as soon as he learned
06-43
about this issue he took action and
06-46
that's what I anticipate that the rest
06-48
of our prosecutors are a new group of US
06-50
attorneys our Justice Department and
06-52
poor entities they understand the rules
06-55
and they understand the responsibility
06-56
to defend the integrity of the
06-57
department if they find evidence of
06-59
improper conduct they're going to take
07-01
action so congressman that's the best
07-03
assurance I can give you but actually
07-06
there's one other point which is you
07-07
should tell your constituents that we
07-09
expose this issue because we're ensuring
07-13
that the Inspector General conducts a
07-14
thorough and effective investigation and
07-17
if there is any evidence of impropriety
07-18
he's going to surface it and report
07-20
about it publicly I'll try

On Monday morning, February 6th, a message came into our email Inbox that had us sobbing and smiling simultaneously.
In honor of the upcoming RARE DISEASE DAY, February 28, 2017, we’d like to share the full contents of said letter with you all (see below the squiggly line).
Because this letter moved us so very much, we donated all of our Etsy store profits for January 2017 to The Isaac Foundation’s MPS II Fund, in honor of Trey Purcell and John Mayer fans around the globe.  They totaled $56.02 USD, or $71.31 in Canadian dollars.
This donation brings the total we have raised for The Isaac Foundation and MPS kids to $7,404.05.
Here’s the letter, and it’s a MUST READ.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Trey and MPS II enthusiasts!
Enthusiasts may not be the preferred word- I’ve used “supporters” in the past- but sometimes you’ve got to keep it light in the often very dark world of MPS II. Plus, if you’re a Trey enthusiast, you’ve gotta be an MPS II enthusiast- they go hand in hand.
I hope this e-blast finds you well and living an uneventful and content life! One of the many things I’ve learned living with MPS II in my life is that uneventful and content is AMAZING. “Eventful” for people in our world means emergencies and surgeries and progression and sadness and fear and loss. There I go jumping into “deep and dark” right off the bat! But that’s the way it is with MPS II, so thanks for supporting us despite, with and through that. Us MPS folks get real quick.
In the past few months I’ve started a number of blogs that got interrupted by life, so I’ll give you a shortened version here, followed by information about our yearly Vancouver Scotiabank 5K & ½ Marathon fundraiser! Here goes:
One of Trey’s biggest changes in the past year is starting school- high school no less (Trey turns 13 on March 1, which is INCREDIBLE). Trey homeschooled until now. The elementary public school system in BC is just not set up for a kid like Trey. Trey wants to be included, but can’t do anything at grade level, so he would have been pulled out of class for almost everything, which would have been sad and hard. I found a high school program though, that is basically a mini Special Ed school within a larger public school. Kids in the Special Ed program can be integrated into things that they can participate in meaningfully, and stay in the Special Ed classrooms for things they can’t. The neat thing is, because the program is so big, even when Trey isn’t integrated, there’s a bunch of other kids around, so he’s not alone or isolated.
I am IN LOVE with the program. The highlight of the program is that the woman in charge of Trey’s program SEES Trey. She sees the well-intentioned, good-hearted, kind, friendly, generous and beautiful kid that is my son. She doesn’t see only the kid who tells adults “you have to go” when he wants understandable control and independence over his life or a kid who most of the world sees as disabled. Another aspect of the program that I am so grateful for is that they REALLY understand teens with intellectual disabilities. I didn’t realize until Trey joined this program, how lost I felt and how much there is to learn for a mom of a teen with special needs. I was clueless. Imagine transportation, friendship, going on outings and joining programs without an adult who knows Trey well, using a public restroom, and puberty (to name a few) for someone who is intellectually a young child and doesn’t understand all the social intricacies of our culture. It’s complex, sometimes scary and wonderfully heart-warming. I am on board with this journey. I LOVE the families we have met. They get me, they get us. I’ve always had my MPS II dragon moms (and a few dads too ☺) to talk to and support me, but they are far away and can’t get together very often for playdates. We’re finding community here. For his 13th birthday party, for the first time ever, we are inviting Trey’s FRIENDS to his party. HIS friends.
For medical updates, Trey continues to receive weekly IV Enzyme Replacement Therapy (ERT) and monthly IT ERT which is still in clinical trial- no major updates there.  We also still have our every 6-12 month doctors appointments, which goes hand in hand with anticipation and trepidation. The spinal cord in Trey’s neck is compressed enough from build-up that he can no longer ski, toboggan, skate, do gymnastics or anything else with a risk of falling. Falling risks paralysis. This is obviously hard news to bear, but in the scheme of MPS, it is literally not the end of the world like MPS can be (AND it doesn’t require surgery at this point), so we are grateful and find joy in other activities. Trey also received a new port last July for his IV infusions; his previous port lasted something like 8-years, so it did him well.
And last but not least in the updates of our family, another discovery for me: raising siblings to a child with a rare and progressive disease. Avery is currently participating in a sibling support group for kids with special needs, which is a big deal. Our family is so used to our family that sometimes we forget just how different our family is from most. We can’t play family board games or do family puzzles or go on family bike rides or go on family vacations with any kind of ease or relaxation. We can’t leave anything lying around the house without it getting broken. Avery and Sadie get frustrated often- it SUCKS when you forget and leave something out only to discover it ruined- which needs validation and leads to conversations about compassion, empathy, and all of our differences and strengths and weaknesses. On the flipside, they patiently help with shower routines, shoe tying, reading, buttering toast, and are scared of what might happen to Trey and worry about how they will support him once Ryan and I can no longer do so. There are a lot of things coming up for Avery and Sadie having a sibling with MPS, but I am learning and we are talking. They are (Raleigh too- she gets a LOT of love from Trey ☺) are incredible siblings.
I’ll wrap this up and get to the Scotiabank Run. On Sunday, June 25, we’re running in the Vancouver Scotiabank 5K & ½ Marathon to raise funds for MPS II Research. If you’d like to join us and run in the 5K or ½ Marathon, shoot me an email at: [email protected]. If you’d like to donate, please go to: www.treypurcell.com. There is a donate button on the right side of the page. 99% of donations go to research. Not all charities can say this!
Since 2007 when our family began the MPS II Research Fund, our fund has grown. A number of Canadian MPS II families have joined our fund and The Isaac Foundation, and are organizing their own fundraisers. Jack Higginson lives with MPS II and his family is organizing a gala on April 29 in Peterborough, Ontario. If you’re in the area, their huge extended family is one to meet (they’re funny and loving and passionate and real), and all proceeds go to MPS II! See their website for more details: http://www.jacksjourney.ca/
With love and endless gratitude for your support, Deb, Ryan, Trey, Avery, Sadie and Raleigh
Where I Don't Want To Be- Chapter 1
Title: Where I Don’t Want To Be Author: letmetellyabouttrey Chapter(s): 1/? Characters: Trey Songz, Original Female Characters, Original Male Characters. Rating: M Warnings: Triggers, Language, and will definitely earn it’s rating as we move forward. Fic Summary: Kyianne Taylor has always been there to take care of her family. Fresh out of high school and ready to take on life ahead of her, she finds her life turned upside down when her parents make a confession that will drastically change the course of her life… Where I don’t Want To Be- Chapter 1 Kyianne POV: I woke up today with a feeling I couldn’t place… it was weird. Not so much weird, as much as feeling like everything was about to change. For the good or the bad I wasn’t sure yet… only time would tell… I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, and got out of bed. I did my hygiene thing, before getting dressed in a pair a jeans and an old tee-shirt with faded red ink on it. I was pulling my long black hair back into an high ponytail, I sat all the way down at my kitchen table before it dawned on me, what today was… My 18th birthday! My two 6 year old twin sisters Tammi and Tanya came in the room along with my older brother Marc, who wasn’t exactly my Brother. He was my cousin to be exact, but his mom, who was my dad’s sister was very sick, and died when he was two, and his dad never claimed him, so my parents took him in, and here we are 19 years later him being x21. Then again we never saw our parents. “Happy Birthday Kyi!” Tammi and Tanya said as they handed me a homemade card. I loved the card just as much, if not more than a store bought card. “Happy Birthday! You are finally an adult! Still a kid to me, but an adult all the same!” Marc handed me a store bought card, with $20 stuck inside. “Thanks big head!” “Whatever just be lucky I gave you anything. Mighty Mouth!” He said grabbing his phone and texting something into the iPhone screen. I stuck my tongue out at him, before getting up out my seat to make breakfast, before getting the girls off to school. I put on a pot of water for some grits, and started making eggs. I practically ran the house by myself seeing as my parents, although they did the right thing by taking in Marc, they never really did right by any of us. Yea, they made sure we had a roof over our head, and food, but that was all because they could be charged with child abuse otherwise. I took care of the child rearing while they though money at the situation until we could just go away. It wasn’t like they didn’t have the means, they both worked at some high-end banking and investment firms, to which they owned their own firm. but they never even stayed here half the time. We lived in a modest, little home in Georgia, on the skirts of Atlanta, while they lived another life in the middle of the city. It was like we didn’t exist except for clientele dinners, or holidays. It was different living like this, not having your parents around to monitor your every move, coming home when you wanted, and not to a curfew. Yes, they tried to come in sometimes and lay down the law, but most of the time it was what I or Marc said goes for the twins seeing as we basically raised them so far. Marc was a good guy, but he was too busy chasing skirts and now he caught up in some mess. I mean he has his whole life ahead of him, this whole making me an aunt thing was not the business. “So birthday girl, where would you like to go for dinner? I pondered where I wanted to go. “You know what I’m not even sure. I’ll think about it today and let you know.” I said turning the eggs around in the pan. “You’ve got it good. Today’s your birthday, last day of high school. I say today’s a damn good day.” “Yea, it’s funny it all fell that way.” I said plating the eggs, grits and toast. The twins came and sat down at the table. I fixed them a plate. “Y'all two hurry up and eat. I still need to comb your hair and drop y'all off. Marc are you bringing LaQuita with you tonight?” “I thought you didn’t like her?” He questioned while putting some grape jelly on his toast. “I don’t but she’s the mother of your growing child, my Niece or Nephew. I’ll be damned, if I let her keep me from that over petty stuff.” “Your a great woman. You and Quita will get along good someday.” “You say that a lot, personally I don’t see that shit happening, now you get out of here too, your supposed to be in class in about 30 mins. You already told me about that professor of yours. He grabbed another piece of toast he had left, before mussing up the girls hair, to their protests, and stole kisses from each of them… After School: Today had been a long day, but I was happy it was over. This stage of my life was over, and as I walked out of school for the day I got a bit sentimental aaa I cried and hugged my friends goodbye. Grinning from ear to ear as I said my final goodbye to this high school that been apart of my formative years. I drove down the street in my Acura MDX SUV (another gift from my parents., stopping for gas and a Arizona Raspberry Iced Tea before picking up my sisters from Kindergarten and heading home. I pulled in the driveway noticing Marc’s blue Ford Explorer in the drive way. We walked inside seeing Quita and Marc on the couch watching a re-run of The Parkers. Quita who was 8 months pregnant stood up, a slight glare in her eyes. Then again she always had a glare when she saw me.? “Happy birthday” she said with very little interest in actually giving me any attention. “Thank you Quita. Marc, I wasn’t expecting you home yet. Didn’t you have another class?” “Quita had a doctors appointment today so I went.” “Oh yea I forgot, how did it go?” I sat down on the couch, my backpack on the floor. “Great, my SON is going to be a very health, a happy little man.” He said with a grin. “Shit not if he keeps sitting on my Blatter. I’ve got to go to the bathroom.” We all laughed and I moved my stuff of her way. “Oh My God! A boy Marc! I’m so excited! I know you wanted a boy, so I know you are happy!” “Ecstatic!” I turned to the twins, who had been in the room with us too. “So, I know y'all got homework. Hop to it. They huffed and walked to the kitchen table. Me right behind them. They had one more week of school left so they still had work to do. "Kyi, why do we have to do it now?” Tammi said. “Because if you don’t do it now, your not going with us out to eat later.” “Dang!” They said at the same time. I looked over the simple addition and reading and determined that for both assignments it shouldn’t take more then 30 mins total. It wasn’t that bad. The teacher just wanted them to write down what they were most excited about for the summer. I was leaving the kitchen, when I almost ran into Quita. I started to move, but I wanted to say something first. “Hey Quita?” “Yes?” She said with bite in her voice. She flipped her burgundy hair over her shoulder. “I wanted to say to you. That I’m happy for you and my brother. I know he loves you, and I also know that you and I have not started off on the right foot, but you are going to be apart of this family now. So let’s bury the hatchet, and move on.” She eyed my hand suspiciously, before crossing her arms under her chest and glaring me down. “I’m not sure what kind of game you think your…” “ Quita please, I’m not running anything on you. My brother loves you, and I would hope you loved him enough to take the rope I’m throwing to you.” “It’s bitches like you always trying to set me up. Marc’s my man, I won’t let you take him from the family.” “Quita, I’m not trying to hurt you or break y'all up. Shit you are fucking 8 months pregnant. Even if he was miserable, which I find highly likely, he still wouldn’t do his child like that. He knows what that’s like, Shit we all do. I’m trying to squash this shit. For the sake of the baby, let’s be amicable about this ok?” “I’m going to say ok, but I still believe you aren’t up to any good.” “Likewise. Thanks Quita.” I waved her forward and we watched t.v until the twins finished up. Hours later…. We went to dinner at T.G.I. Friday’s and afterwards Marc dropped Quita at home, and then we went home. When we pulled up I noticed there was a silver Mercedes-Benz in our driveway which could only mean that our parents had stopped by. I looked on the street and saw a black suburban on it, but paid no attention to it. We parked, grabbing our leftovers and went inside to face the music. My parents sat on the couch, anxious as fuck. I knew something was up. “Terry, Linda.” I said without any warmth in my voice. “Hey don’t call us that. We are your parents.” I scoffed, their faces darkened. Their body language changed, and something told me to get the twins away from here. “Hey Marc, take Tammi and Tanya upstairs, get them ready for bed, I’ll be up in a minute.” “Awe how…touching.” My father said. “It is honey, she takes care if them like they belong to her. It’s cute.” “She going to be perfect for them. ” I was getting nervous, who was “them” why was I perfect? “Hold up, who are "them”, what in the hell are you talking about?“ "Language.” “Oh please! Do not come into this house and pretend you are a real parent. None of us have seen you in three months. Do you even know what today is? "Well, well, well, you have more backbone then the last time we saw you, but I suppose that isn’t our problem anymore. You guys can come out now.” Three huge men, came from the kitchen. Surrounding me. I immediately called Marc. “MARC!” He flew down the steps, and started swinging, I started fighting when they started grabbing for me. It was no use, they had me held back by my arms, and Marc by his neck and arms. “ Tisk, Tisk! Such bad manners.” “Let’s just get this shit over with I’ve got stuff to handle tonight…” “What do you want?” “We came for you!” Said our mother. “WHAT?!” Marc and I yelled. “You see, I’ve decided to bolster my sales, and open myself up to a whole new business venture, and let’s just say, I need you to… Help me.” Terry said. “With? And will y'all let us go god dammit!” I pulled against the arms holding me. “My new business involves matching up girls from around the world to men, who are willing to pay…” “Your becoming a PIMP for a living?! Wow! damn I’ve seen everything.” I yelled rolling my arms.“No, you haven’t. Not even the start, here in your sheltered world. And no Terry is not a pimp. He just makes people happy, and uses girls to do so. "Ok and what do I have to do with all of this?” “I have a client, a very special client. He truly doesn’t take No for an answer, Not that I would give him one. You see this client is very powerful, he gets what he wants and he decided out of all the girls he could have that he wants you.” My eyes popped out of my head, tears sprung from my eyes, and Marc went ballistic. “Fuck No! You can’t have her! What kind of sick shit is this! You sold your own fucking daughter!” He started pulling and fighting the guy, before I knew it, they pushed him to the ground and pulled a gun on him. He stopped moving and put his hands up and I heard my “parents” and I use the term loosely were laughing. “Oh such a shame, stuck between a rock and a hard place are you?” “Can’t you all just leave him alone? Please.” “We will as soon as you leave with us.” “No!” “Shut up!” “ Let me put it this way Kyianne, either you go with us, or you continue to fight us and he dies. Oh and we still take you.Take your pick.” I looked him over, and it wasn’t even a decision. “Ok, OK! Fine, You have to promise me, you leave him, and my sisters alone.” “KYI! NO! Fuck no, you get out and don’t worry about me.” I tried to go to him but the man was still holding me back. I looked to Terry and Linda pleadingly. They nodded to the man and he let me go. I ran over to Marc, who just grabbed me and hugged me. “Marc, I’m sure you would be ok with going for me, but what about LaQuita, what about your Son?” His face dawned with realization and hurt. “They need you Tammi and Tanya need you. I need you to take care of them. If your gone, they go back to them, and then they end up just like this, at least now, I know you can take care of them, and they are protected. Please Marc let me go.” His face was so sad, I had never seen him this upset before. I could tell he was still battling with my decision. “You don’t have to give up your life for us. Please Kyi! Think about this!” “There is nothing to think about. It’s either go with them, however unwilling it may be. Or we fight them and you die, I’m taken anyways, and Tammi, Tanya, and your Son is left with no one. Either way I’m going. They made sure of that.” I turned and glared at them. “She’s right Son.” “I’m not your Fucking son! For once it’s something I can be proud of in regards to your family genes.” “Please Terry and Linda, don’t need your help shut up. I just need to hear you say they are, and will always be safe from whatever lifestyle you lead! My sisters will NEVER EVER be subjected to this!” “Y'all have our word. Your sisters are safe. We have to go now!” I huffed back the tears, and pulled Marc to his feet. He was about 5'11 and about medium build. , with brown eyes. “Ok ok. Can I at least say goodbye to my sisters and grab something from upstairs?” “You’ve got ten minutes, and then we are dragging you kicking and screaming out the front door.” I turned and ran up stairs, Marc, and two of the three men, on our tails to make sure we didn’t try anything. I sucked up my tears and opened the door to my sisters’ room. “Kyianne? Why are you crying?” Tanya asked me “It’s ok. Sit down for a sec.” I sat on Tammi’s bed both of them sat beside me, I pulled them really close, as Marc sat on the opposite bed. Tears staining his cheeks, and his eyes were bloodshot red. “Ok you two. Kyianne has to go away for awhile.” “What?” “Why?” They said at the exact same time, panic laced in their voices. “Look it’s going to be ok you two. I need you to behave yourselves for Marc. You two are gorgeous and amazing little girls. I’m only going away because I Love you both, and not because I don’t Understand?” They both nodded, tears on their faces as well. I prayed to god for strength not to break down in front of them, it would only make it harder for them and me. “ Will we ever see you again?” Tammi asked me. I choked as I didn’t have an answer for them, but I was going to lie my ass off just to protect them. “Sure hun you will. I’m not sure when but you will. Now come with me.” We walked the hall to my room, and I went to my jewelry box. Most of my stuff was cheap, costume stuff, but I had a few pieces I knew would stand the test of time, even if I didn’t because they were real. I had three of those to be exact. I had two chains with an identical Rose pendents on them. One was gold, the other silver. Roses were my favorite flower, so they got incorporated into my daily stuff. I handed the Gold to Tammi, and the Silver to Tanya. “I want you two, to take care of these for me.” I grabbed the other necklace, which was something that was passed to me, by my maternal Grandmother Edith. She took care of me and Marc when we were really little, but she died when I was 15, leaving me and Marc to take care of everything. I loved that woman, so I kept a lot of her jewelry, but this one was special to her.I slid it in my pocket. I heard the knocks on the door, one of the once stone-faced guards had softened his face and said, “Ok Miss Taylor, it’s time to go.” The twins grabbed a leg a piece and cried harder. My heart broke and I gently pulled them off and bent down to their faces. “No matter what remember that I LOVE you.” I hugged them as tight as I could and kissed their chubby cheeks, and stood up to Marc’s wet face and hugged him. I gave him a peck on the cheek. “Take care of them Marc. Take care of yourself too. I love you, and your son.” I walked down the stairs, everyone hot on my trail. “Are you ready?” I wanted to smack her for asking me such a dumb ass question. “Don’t ask me a dumb ass question like that. Let’s go.” I looked back one more time at my family, and Marc was holding them both, and I was thrown in the back seat of the Suburban… We pulled away and everything I knew was gone…
