From the moment he saw you, Trent felt drawn to you. When you entered a room, his eyes immediately found you, and he was always sad to see you leave. You became friends after you performed at Hayley's, and Trent admired your talent as he absentmindedly drew.

You never knew of his feelings for you, oblivious to the way his eyes followed you in every room, but Hayley was the first to notice how distracted he became whenever you came to the cafe. And after three weeks of watching Trent fall in love with you while you remained unaware of his feelings, she had came up with a plan. If you caught a glimpse of his drawings the way she had during his break, you would realise just how important you were to him.

When you started dating someone else, Trent grew even more determined to hide his drawings, knowing you were happy - a happiness that didn't last for very long. He endured every conversation about an argument you had with your boyfriend - and like today he threw in a sarcastic remark that made you playfully glare at him.

"You're hilarious."

Trent pursed his lips, raising his eyebrows, looking down at his sketch.

You sighed, looking around the park for a moment, turning to Trent, noticing for the first time the way he was shielding the page he was sketching on. "What are you drawing anyway?"

"Nothing." He brushed off.

"Very onimious." You walked over to him. "Let me see."

Trent immediately closed the book, and you raised an eyebrow. "It's nothing."

"Oh, come on. I've seen your art before." You stated, reaching for the book.

Trent jumped to his feet, and you crossed your arms. "Alright. Fine. I won't look at it..." You grabbed the book when Trent sighed in relief, and his eyes widened when you looked inside.

You were silent as you turned the pages, "Is...this me? I mean, of course it is, your drawings are always realisticly detailed."

"I can explain -"

"I, um, better get going." You handed him the book, "I'll see you later, yeah?"

Trent sighed, watching you walk away. He was afraid this would happen. He was afraid of ruining your friendship.

For three days, you steered clear of Hayley's and Trent was noticibly affected by your distance. He left a panicked voicemail after you walked away, declaring his feelings and when you didn't contact him afterwards he assumed your friendship was unsalvagable.

On the fourth day you entered the cafe, and Trent was picking up a tray of mugs he had dropped. You walked over to him, kneeling to help him. He looked up, surprised to see you.

"Uh, hi."

"Hi." He stood up, holding the tray.

"Do you have a minute?" You asked, walking with him to the counter.

Trent glanced at Hayley who motioned behind you for him to go. "Okay."

You went to a table, and took a seat, Trent sitting across from you. "I want to apologise for the other day...I shouldn't have disappeared like that."

"Look, I get it. You don't feel the same way."

"And if I did?"

Trent wasn't expecting that response. "Wha - Really?"

You nodded, lowering your gaze to the table. "The only reason I started seeing someone was because I thought you could never be interested in me. But when I heard your message..." A small smile formed on your lips, "Well, shocked didn't quite cover it. It's not every day you find out your the muse of a talented artist."

Trent opened his mouth to brush off your claims, but you didn't allow him the chance.

"You are talented." You smiled across at him, "You're amazing. And I'm sorry. The last few months couldn't have been easy for you."

Trent knew this was his chance and he was determined to take it.

"I don't know...it's getting better." He reached out his hand and you held it on the table, a blush dusting your cheeks when his thumb ran across your hand. "Do you want to go out sometime?"

"Are you asking me out on a date?" You smiled teasingly.

"Definitely." Trent nodded.

"I would love to."

"Tomorrow?"

You nodded. "I'll see you later?" You asked as you both stood up.

"Okay." He smiled softly.

You squeezed his hand, turning away before returning, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

"Bye." You whispered, sending a smile as you left.

Trent turned to Hayley who was turning away, trying to hide that she had been listening in on your conversation. He smiled at her poor attempts, walking over.

The smile never left his lips for the remainder of the day.

'SACRIFICE'

Trent couldn't sleep. He was exhausted, and he began to feel nauseous as he checked his watch for the tenth time that afternoon. All he could do was remind himself that it was necessary, but it provided little comfort.

He was sitting outside when you arrived, and he felt his heart race when you smiled at him. "Hi," you kissed his cheek before joining him on the grass overlooking his backyard. "I came straight over. Whatever it was, it sounded urgent on the phone."

Trent swallowed thickly, looking away as he schooled his features. "I need to talk to you about something."

You turned to him, nodding, urging him to continue.

Trent met your gaze, his expression stoic as he said, "I don't think we should see each other anymore."

You were sure you had misheard him, but after a few moments, you realized he was serious. "Wh-What?" You uttered, barely above a whisper.

"I think we should break up." Trent replied.

You felt tears pricking your eyes though you blinked them away. "Why?" You asked, wiping a stray tear that had fallen down your cheek.

"I don't feel that way about you anymore." He lied. Every word was poison, and he felt his heart tighten in his chest as you believed every word. "I like someone else."

You're doing this to save her.

You're doing this to protect her.

You swallow the lump in your throat, rising to your feet, and Trent stood up, his hand itching to reach out and comfort you. But he couldn't back out now. Mesogog would use you as leverage if he knew, and Trent couldn't let that happen.

You placed your bag over your shoulder, turning to walk away, pausing when you felt a weight on your chest. Trent felt his heart stop when you turned, removing the necklace he had bought you with the initial T on it.

You let the chain dangle from your fingers as you lowered the necklace into his palm before walking around the large house, and out of his life.

Trent stared at the necklace in his hand, feeling a tear fall down his cheek. And like a dam that had burst, more followed, and he clutched the necklace in his hand, wishing he could take it back.

He didn't want you to get hurt by Mesogog, but he knew that he had hurt you, and despite trying to reason that it was necessary, Trent felt his world crashing around him. He had to sacrifice your relationship to protect you.

And he could only hope that when his role in the Rangers was over and Mesogog was defeated that you would allow him to explain. He would spend every day pleading for forgiveness for breaking your heart.

It had been over a month since Trent ended your relationship without a warning. You still continued to wonder why he had broken up with you and you began to wonder if he had feelings for someone else. You had been on two dates and maybe he realized you weren't who he wanted to be with, but it didn't make it hurt any less.

Trent wished he could tell you about Mesogog, his father and the Power Rangers. But even though the spell had been broken, he knew there were many more obstacles to overcome before he could even consider entering a relationship. If Mesogog found out about you, there was no telling what he would do.

So he kept his distance and admired from afar. You were welcoming when he arrived and there were so many things he wanted to tell you but it was safer if you were apart, for now, so Trent counted down the days he could ask you out on another date. He just hoped that when he did it wasn't too late.

You were walking down the street when you encountered a group of Tyranno Drones. You were spotted before you could run and screamed when two Tyranno Drones grabbed your arms, preventing you from escaping.

You heard a yell before the two Drones were blown back from a blast. You gasped when you saw the White Ranger appeared.

"Get to safety." Trent lowered his voice to disguise it and you nodded, running off. Trent fought off the other Tyranno Drones and when he removed his suit, he sighed, relieved you were safe, but he knew it was a close call. There was a chance you still recognised his voice.

He turned when he heard footsteps and quickly ran around the corner, hiding behind the wall, catching his breath.

"I just wanted to thank you - oh." You walked away when you saw he was gone.

Trent closed his eyes, wishing he could speak to you instead of hiding in the shadows. But right now it was keeping you safe. He just hoped you could forgive him.

'BREAKING THE SPELL'

You met Trent when he started working at Hayley's and as you taught him the basics, you grew close. So when he suddenly gave you the cold shoulder, you were worried about him, seeing how dark his under eyes were, and how distracted he seemed.

When you entered the base Tommy knew there was something going on with you, and he had never let you go through anything alone, always there with advice.

"Hey, what's wrong?"

"Nothing." You took a seat beside him and he raised an eyebrow at you.

"How long have we known each other?"

"All my life." You sighed as you looked at him. "Something is wrong with Trent."

Tommy tried not to smile, knowing that your crush on Trent could be playing a part in why you were so distracted. If you weren't confiding in him he probably would tease you but for now, you needed someone to listen and he was always there for you whenever you needed him.

"He's been wigging out at work." You told him. "He dropped a tray today and when I tried to help he told me he was fine."

"So, he told you he was fine and you think there is something wrong with him?"

"Maybe..." You sighed, "I don't know."

Days passed and Trent didn't turn up for work, only increasing your worry.

You were monitoring the comms as the Rangers fought the White Ranger. Your mind wandered to Trent, wondering what could have happened to make him change when you heard his voice.

Your eyes widened when you stared at the White Ranger, "Trent?"

You gasped when he aimed arrows at the Rangers. You quickly climbed onto the red dino cycle, driving to the quarry. You stopped in front of the Rangers, acting as a wall between Trent.

"Y/N, what are you doing? Get out of here!"

You shook your head, not daring to look away from Trent as you climbed off the dino cycle. "It's Trent. He's the White Ranger."

"What?"

You ignored them as Trent approached you, sword raised. "Trent, I know you're in there."

You ducked when he swung the sword, putting distance between you. He turned to you, twirling his sword.

"Trent, this isn't you. Mesogog has control of your mind. But you can fight it, I know you can." You screamed when he swung the sword, falling back and Tommy stood up, racing towards you.

"Trent, you can fight this."

You held your arms up as a shield, closing your eyes tightly when Trent raised his sword. You opened your eyes when you didn't feel pain, looking up at him as he backed away.

He looked at his hands, stepping back. "Y/N?"

Tommy paused, watching as the light left Trent's body as the spell was broken.

You stood up and when you stepped forward, Trent suddenly ran off and you were about to follow when Tommy stopped you.

"Trent!"

"Trust me, he needs some time alone," Tommy told you.

Reluctantly you nodded.

"And what were you thinking? Do you even know how to ride a motorcycle?" He said, sternly.

"I'm a fast learner." You smiled, about to climb on behind Conner who was sitting on the dino cycle.

"Uh-uh," Tommy said. "I trust him to save the world, not with my sister on a motorcycle."

You rolled your eyes, heading back to the base on foot.

For days you didn't see Trent. He didn't show up for work and you were worried about the overwhelming guilt Tommy had felt when he had turned evil.

You were surprised when Trent was waiting for you outside Hayley's, anxiously looking around. He looked healthier, though his brow was knit in worry.

"Hi." You greeted with a small smile.

"I'm sorry."

"It wasn't your fault." You shrugged softly.

"I almost killed you." He said in disbelief from your nonchalance.

"But you didn't. You stopped." You told him.

"I'm still sorry." He smiled faintly, realizing arguing was pointless with you.

"I knew there was something wrong with you. I'm just glad you're free from Mesogog's power. Now you can help the Rangers -"

"I can't do that." He shook his head, sighing.

"Why? The power of the White Ranger could help them defeat Mesogog." You said.

"I can't."

"Why? You're a great fighter and you would really help the team -"

"Because by hurting Mesogog, I hurt my father," Trent explained. "They share a mind. You can't defeat one without killing the other."

You thought for a moment. "We could separate Anton and Mesogog. If you come to the base we can tell my brother he can -"

Trent shook his head. "I'm sorry." You watched him leave with a sigh.

After your shift, you went to the base and when the doors opened you were surprised for a second time to find Trent in the base.

"Apparently he's good now." Conner smiled tightly, not happy that Tommy trusted Trent.

You looked at Tommy who stepped forward. "Trent agreed to help against Mesogog."

You turned to Trent, surprised and he shrugged softly, a small smile on his lips. "You were right. The White Ranger power should be used for good."

"In the meantime, we need to find a way to separate Anton and Mesogog." Tommy said.

You nodded, "I may be able to help with that. I did some research into what happened all those years ago and if I can -"

"We'll talk about it later." Tommy put a hand on your shoulder to end your rambling, a smile on his lips as he looked at Trent.

He left with the other Rangers to another room and Conner was just as confused as you were.

"I wanted to thank you for bringing me back," Trent spoke up.

"You don't have to." You smiled. "I didn't really do anything."

"Did you know that only a strong emotion can overcome a spell like that? And you managed to bring it out of me just by being you."

Your eyebrows furrowed and Trent took a step closer to you, hands in his pockets nervously. "I want to take you out on a date."

You smiled, nodding. "I'd love to."

Trent relaxed and you giggled at the relief that crossed his face. You closed your eyes when he kissed your cheek, taking your hand, and smiled when he pulled away, lips lingering for a moment.

This was the Trent you knew. And you wished he would always stay this way.

Weeks had passed since he had saved you in the plaza and Trent found it harder to keep his distance. He was stretching himself thin, between helping the Rangers and protecting you, taking out Tyranno Drones before you could see them, or they saw you walking down the street. You always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

He knew he couldn't carry on this way, but when he saw you having lunch with a guy from the soccer team, he knew he wasn't ready to give up yet.

You were heading home from work when you came across the Rangers fighting Ruby Dragon. You were about to turn away when the monster captured you.

"No!" Trent sprinted forward towards you, and the monster blew him backward, the White Ranger landing on his stomach a few feet away. Your eyes widened when the suit disappeared, seeing Trent straining to get back on his feet.

"Trent?" You gasped.

"Say bye-bye!"

You flinched when Ruby Dragon was knocked down by the Blue Ranger, quickly moving away, towards Trent, helping him stand.

"What - how -"

"I'll explain later. You need to get out of here." He told you and you reluctantly left, looking back as he rejoined the fight, biting your lower lip worriedly.

You waited at Hayley's and after an hour Trent arrived with Conner, Ethan, and Kira and you guessed they were the other three Rangers.

He approached the table with an anxious smile, taking a seat. For a few minutes he didn't speak, and you knew he was trying to find where to begin.

"Are you okay?" You asked.

He nodded; a small smile on his lips at your concern. "I'll be fine."

"You're the White Ranger."

"I should have told you. I know. But it was better if you didn't know. Mesogog would have found a weakness and exploit it. And I don't want you getting hurt because of me." Trent explained.

"Is that why you broke up with me?"

He nodded. "I couldn't stand the thought of you getting caught up in this."

"You saved me that night. How many times have you been watching out for me?"

Trent looked at the table and you stared at him for a moment. "So...you have feelings for me?"

"I didn't want you to get hurt."

"Little late, don't you think?" You replied. "I really liked you, you know? Then you just broke it off without a reason. I thought I did something or you liked someone else. So I tried to get over you."

Trent perked up, trying not to sound too hopeful. "Tried?"

"Yeah." You smiled softly, "I understand why you didn't want to have a relationship before, but now that I know, can't we at least give it another shot?"

Trent took your hand beneath the table, a smile on his lips. "I-I -" He knew that whatever came across your way, you could go through it together. "I'd like that."

You smiled, exhaling in relief.

You stood up when he did, and he held your hand, looking at the team who gave him a thumbs up and you laughed softly. "Oh, you're not completely in the clear. I still want to know how many times you were protecting me when I didn't know it."

Trent chuckled, pressing a kiss to your cheek. He knew you would be understanding, but his fear of something happening to you kept him from confiding in you. But now there was nothing holding him back as he let go of his fears.
