April 2:
On this date in 1987, Voivod released their third studio album, Killing Technology.
On this date in 2002, post-hardcore/progressive rock band The Mars Volta released their debut EP, Tremulant.
On the 2nd of April, 2011, Der Blutharsch And The Infinite Church of The Leading Hand and Aluk Tolodo disseminated A Collaboration , their yes-indeed-it-is-a-collaborative-album.
And,
On the 2nd of April, 2013, flannel revivalists Milk Music let loose unto a world that may or may not have been ready for it Cruise Your Illusion, their debut album.
The question as to why a band who most often quotes Neil Young or Dinosaur Jr. would reference a Guns 'n' Roses album with the title of their debut remains to this day unanswered

Various Artists - Gravit - Tremulant Community Sampler (Tremulant)
8DPromo · Various Artists - Gravit - Tremulant Community Sampler (Tremulant)
In a captivating display of Seattle's underground electronic music scene, Tremulant unveils Gravit - Tremulant Community Sampler, a compilation album that pulls listeners into a mesmerizing vortex of deep house, minimal, and otherworldly sounds. This nine-track journey, designed to immerse the audience in the music, showcases the diverse talents of local artists, each contributing their unique voice to create a cohesive and immersive experience. From the opening notes of monotropa.'s "Deriva," listeners are transported to a spaced-out, biotechnical world filled with organic percussion, deep synths, and provocative grooves. The artist's second contribution, "Cava," is a late-night gem, simmering with pronounced organic elements and a sizzling lead that will keep dance floors moving until the early hours. Eliogold's "How Fast You Play" is a standout collaboration with renowned Las Vegas-based pianist Mirko Barbesino (MKB), seamlessly blending musical virtuosity with irresistible dancefloor energy. Kinj0's "Biomarker on Ilus" explores sinister yet groovy territories, crafting a narrative that balances deep space dystopia with a cosmic dance party—a perfect tool for story-telling DJs. Other highlights include Jon Lee's "Texture Color," a deep melodic beauty that audibly translates texture and color to life, and Monday's Heartbeat's "Square Jive," featuring a rotating ensemble of musicians, including Forrest Roush on guitar and Daniel "Danimal" Wilson on keys, with special guest Nathan Hall. With additional tracks from Diana Ratsame, Hector J Rodriguez, and Joe Bellingham, Gravit reveals the force of Seattle's underground electronic music community. As Tremulant eloquently puts it, "each of the collaborators here interweaves their creative abilities into a release representing the dynamic and versatile flavors of the deep house found in the local scene," emphasizing the sense of community and shared creativity. Gravit is an invitation to explore the depths of Seattle's thriving electronic music landscape.
Jon Fugler (Fluke) – “How Fast You Play, Texture & Colour & Square Drive the standouts from a first listen - lots to choose from and surely something for everyone here.” Trent Banks (Reflect) – “Joe Bellingham’s Selva Oscura is perfection.” Richard Hardcastle (Solid State) – “How Fast You Play is he standout for me - solid selections all around.” DJ Nelson (Power FM) – “A nice collection of tracks - and the flow for the compilation is really nice. Initial stand outs are Cava, Lusio, and El Cacique.” DJ Morpheus (Lysergic Factory Radio Show) – “Excellent and exciting stuff on this compilation. Loving it.” Bruce Tantum (DJ Mag) – “Some amazing music on this comp – and a vast variety of it too.”
Available Now From: Beatport, Juno Download, Apple Music, And Spotify.

Tremulant (2002), De-Loused in the Comatorium (2003), Frances the Mute (2005), The Mars Volta

As far as I’m concerned, the Mars Volta’s music is effectively At The Drive-In but drawn-out and with much more technical wankery. Now, did ATDI’s sound really sound like it would benefit from being longer and/or wankier? Nah, not really. In fact, I’d argue that so much of that project’s brilliance was in how it frantically, excitedly crammed so much inspiration into so little time, in how each track threw down as many ideas as it could.
Clearly I’m not as big a fan of the Mars Volta as I am of At the Drive-In – but I’ve still got a lot of time for Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s second (main) act. The Mars Volta offer some of this century’s finest exhibitions of prog rock, laying out what that genre can and should be this side of the millennium with spectacularly ambitious and wildly strange concepts executed with frenetic, energetic technicality.
In less abstract and conceptual terms, the Mars Volta’s first few records have quite a bit of direct appeal. Yes, the music is almost always a bit corny (the lyrics must be put entirely aside, ignored) and very melodramatic – but I can certainly get behind a bit of theatre. If you’re in the mood to be blasted with the overblown, awed by technical prowess and bamboozled by stylistic variety, the Mars Volta satisfy all that. Admittedly, I’m very rarely in that mood – but it’s nice to know this music exists, if I ever am.
Pick(s): ‘Eunuch Provocateur’, ‘Cicatriz ESP’, ‘Cassandra Gemini’

thinking about dottore’s sharp sharp teeth, biting into the soft flesh of your shoulder, your neck, your thigh - and how he uses a kamera to take photographs of your skin beading blood, kissing and licking and soothing the wounds afterwards, murmuring that he’s just taking notes on how well you heal. more photographs as they bruise, as they fade - delighting in the soft whimpers of pain you make when his surgical gloved fingers press down on tender healing skin. just a test subject, he tells himself, flicking through the photographs and replaying your pained moans in his head. with his still gloved hands wrapped around his cock and the taste of your blood still lingering on his tongue and the sharp points of his teeth: just his very favourite test subject.

The Grave
[translated from the Old English]
There was a house built before you were born. Before you came from your mother, your dust was here. But it wasn’t active, its deepness not known, not yet locked in what length it would lay for you.
Now you are brought there where you shall be. Now you are measured and the dirt after that.
No, your house is not made high with boards, it is un-high, low when you lie in there. The cover-walls are low, the side-walls un-high, the roof is built full near your breast.
So you shall dwell in full-cold soil, dim and dark. That den fouls around your hands, that house is doorless and dark within. There you are kept fast, and death has the key. That earth-heave is burdensome, and bitter to abide in.
There you shall dwell and worms will dismember you. There you are laid, and loathsome to your loved ones No one, never will a friend come near to see how you are, to look and see how you like that house, that will ever undo that door after you and make light [ ]
For soon you are burdensome and loathsome to see, (for soon your head is bereft of hair, all the fairness of your hair is scattered, and never, no one will stroke it softly with their fingers.)

it would be incredibly unwise for me to try to go to comiket next sunday (by which point i will be in japan) because it's the weekend after i move in and i will most likely be extremely busy trying to make 'have functional apartment with hot water and potentially even A Stove or Refrigerator' and 'eat at least one food of some kind' and 'not implode entire paperwork situation in some capacity* when i sign up with utilities/banks' all happen instead, but graahh i'm so cheesed that stuff like that is even gonna be an option (especially for smaller/'only' events centered on specific fandoms etc) i dig doujin culture SO much and i have THOUGHTS about what the western fanwork scene could and should take away from it. my admiration for it just won't end... (...sorry, joak comprehensible to the like 2.5 other people in anglosphere fandom aware that the MiA circle event is named 'this admiration/longing won't end' which is both a major theme of the show and line in its opening and a fitting and touching description of what being active in and passionate about fanwork feels like)

Hey ash, remember that migraines are an Entire Neurological Event, & that you've had one for two and a half weeks.
While it sucks, it is entirely normal for you emotional regulation & mood to be all fucked up. I'm sorry, but we just have to ride it out.
Here, feed, have a story that always makes me sad.

Paul Gafni & Joe Bellingham - Geodesic (Tremulant)
8DPromo · Paul Gafni & Joe Bellingham - Geodesic (Tremulant)
Paul Gafni had been a fan of Joe Bellingham's downtempo music in Seattle for years and decided to collaborate with him. They worked on a couple of remixes for Joe's Hug Records release and the Tremulant label. Eventually, the pair decided to create an original together. With Joe on bass and percussion, Paul providing guitar, keys, and vocals, and Diana Ratsamee adding an extra layer of beauty, "Geodesic" was born. "Geodesic" rides on a downtempo four-on-the-floor rhythm, populated with dubby echoes, ambient-flavored synth layers, moody guitar lines, and somewhat meditative vocals. The cut is chill but not motionless — there's a danceable vibe throughout ready for DJs to deploy in just the right sets. Michael Manahan answers the call with the Find a Way Through Hypnosis Mix, raising the tempo while maintaining maximum atmosphere. Woofer-vibrating bass, pulsing pads, and arpeggiated synth runs mix elegantly with the original elements. The second remix, from Chilean DJ/producer Ahau brings out a gentle guitar part over repeating bell-like tones. The beats and vibe build steadily as the male and female vocals play off each other, transmitting near-spiritual imagery through the magic of sound.
Trent Banks / Citrus Age (Reflect) – “Moody grooves with great textures.” Enne (Electunes) – “Really nice stuff, cheers.” Juan Moreno (1 Life Records) – “Perfect for the warm up.” DJ Morpheus (Lysergic Factory radio show) “I like all three tracks here. Lovely!” Dr. Best (Radio Z 95.8 Neurnberg) – “Nice release. Michael Manahan’s remix and the original are my faves.” Jon Fugler (XLNT Radio Show) – “Sublime & thoroughly enjoyable.”

Their demeanor shifts. "Are you volunteering to test the might of our bedrock?" Are they joking or are they serious? Teyvat may never know.
