Duckvember Day 13: Otherworldly Duck
I can imagine Duck Dodgers and Duck Avenger having the craziest adventures in the universe and beyond.
But nothing stops them from watching the movie of their comic book idol, Tremendous Terence. Sure, it would be great if it weren't for the fact that Uno is giving away so many spoilers before entering the theater.
PS: I don't know how to make movie posters hehe

this might be a dumb question but like. how do you learn math without a class/curriculum to follow. i have a pretty solid calculus understanding and I want to pursue more advanced math but like im not sure where to start. what even is like category theory it sounds so cool but so scary???. do you have any recommendations on specific fields to begin to look into/whether its best to learn via courses or textbooks or lectures/etc.? any advice would be super appreciated!! dope blog by the way
thanks for the compliment!
first of all it's not a dumb question. trust me i'm the algebraic-dumbass I know what I'm talking about. okay so uh. how does one learn math without a class? it's already hard to learn math WITH a class, so uhhh expect to need motivation. i would recommend making friends with people who know more math than you so you have like, a bit more motivation, and also because math gets much easier if you have people you can ask questions to. Also, learning math can be kind of isolating - most people have no clue what we do.
That said, how does one learn more advanced math?
Well i'm gonna give my opinion, but if anyone has more advice to give, feel free to reblog and share. I suppose the best way to learn math on your own would be through books. You can complement them with video lectures if you want, a lot of them are freely available on the internet. In all cases, it is very important you do exercises when learning: it helps, but it's also the fun part (math is not a spectator sport!). I will say that if you're like me, working on your own can be quite hard. But I will say this: it is a skill, and learning it as early as possible will help you tremendously (I'm still learning it and i'm struggling. if anyone has advice reblog and share it for me actually i need it please)
Unfortunately, for ""basic"" (I'm not saying this to say it's easy but because factually I'm going to talk about the first topics you learn in math after highschool) math topics, I can't really give that much informed book recommendations as I learned through classes. So if anyone has book recommandations, do reblog with them. Anyways. In my opinion the most important skill you need to go further right now is your ability to do proofs!
That's right, proofs! Reasoning and stuff. All the math after highschool is more-or-less based on explaining why something is true, and it's really awesome. For instance, you might know that you can't write the square root of 2 as a fraction of two integers (it's irrational). But do you know why? Would you be able to explain why? Yes you would, or at least, you will! For proof-writing, I have heard good things about The Book of Proof. I've also heard good things about "The Art of Problem Solving", though I think this one is maybe a bit more competition-math oriented. Once you have a grasp on proofs, you will be ready to tackle the first two big topics one learns in math: real analysis, and linear algebra.
Real analysis is about sequences of real numbers, functions on the real numbers and what you can do with them. You will learn about limits, continuity, derivatives, integrals, series, all sorts of stuff you have already seen in calculus, except this time it will be much more proof-oriented (if you want an example of an actual problem, here's one: let (p_n) and (q_n) be two sequences of nonzero integers such that p_n/q_n converges to an irrational number x. Show that |p_n| and |q_n| both diverge to infinity). For this I have heard good things about Terence Tao's Analysis I (pdf link).
Linear algebra is a part of abstract algebra. Abstract algebra is about looking at structures. For instance, you might notice similarities between different situations: if you have two real numbers, you can add them together and get a third real number. Same for functions. Same for vectors. Same for polynomials... and so on. Linear algebra is specifically the study of structures called vector spaces, and maps that preserve that structure (linear maps). Don't worry if you don't get what I mean right away - you'll get it once you learn all the words. Linear algebra shows up everywhere, it is very fundamental. Also, if you know how to multiply matrices, but you've never been told why the way we do it is a bit weird, the answer is in linear algebra. I have heard good things about Sheldon Axler's Linear Algebra Done RIght.
After these two, you can learn various topics. Group theory, point-set topology, measure theory, ring theory, more and more stuff opens up to you. As for category theory, it is (from my pov) a useful tool to unify a lot of things in math, and a convenient language to use in various contexts. That said, I think you need to know the "lots of things" and "various contexts" to appreciate it (in math at least - I can't speak for computer scientists, I just know they also do category theory, for other purposes). So I don't know if jumping into it straight away would be very fun. But once you know a bit more math, sure, go ahead. I have heard a lot of good things about Paolo Aluffi's Algebra: Chapter 0 (pdf link). It's an abstract algebra book (it does a lot: group theory, ring theory, field theory, and even homological algebra!), and it also introduces category theory extremely early, to ease the reader into using it. In fact the book has very little prerequisites - if I'm not mistaken, you could start reading it once you know how to do proofs. it even does linear algebra! But it does so with an extremely algebraic perspective, which might be a bit non-standard. Still, if you feel like it, you could read it.
To conclude I'd say I don't really belive there's a "correct" way to learn math. Sure, if you pursue pure math, at some point, you're going to need to be able to read books, and that point has come for me, but like I'm doing a master's, you can get through your bachelor's without really touching a book. I believe everyone works differently - some people love seminars, some don't. Some people love working with other people, some prefer to focus on math by themselves. Some like algebra, some like analysis. The only true opinion I have on doing math is that I fully believe the only reason you should do it is for fun.
Hope I was at least of some help <3

It's open to the sun and wind and rain. It brings all kinds of people and all parts of England together. And it's home to a minstrel, even though he may happen to be sleeping in a castle."
And Adam, though only eleven, was to remember his father's words when his beloved dog, Nick, was stolen and Roger had disappeared and he found himself traveling alone along these same great roads, searching the fairs and market towns for his father and his dog.

My top 10 most anticipated fights of the weekend (7/31/2024-8/5/2024). In no particular order. But also, bonus stuff cause there's more stuff going on I'm happy to see.
Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov - Terence Crawford is arguably the best boxer on the planet. He went undisputed in 2 divisions. He absolutely picked apart and tore up an elite welterweight in Errol Spence. And now he’s got his eyes set on Canelo. But that means trying to bridge 3 weight classes. So he’s moving up to super welterweight, where he will challenge WBA champion Israil Madrimov. And while the Boots fight is the one boxing fans wanted to see, Crawford is a 36 year old moving up a weight class to fight a young undefeated world champion. Nothing to sneeze at. Madrimov is a more than capable world championship level boxer and there isn’t a ton of tape out there on him because he’s still relatively young in the game. The table is set for some magic.
Cory Sandhagen vs Umar Nurmagomedov - UFC on ABC 7 - First time we will see Cory Sandhagen in almost 11 months after he tore his tricep mid-fight against Rob Font. Crazy to see how quiet it’s been for Sandhagen, even with the injury. The constant flux of the 135lb division has had him lost in the narrative. With O’Malley becoming champ, his weird rematch with Chito, Yan finally getting the bounce back win, Figs moving up to 135lbs, Cejudo coming back, and now Merab finally getting his title fight, I feel like Sandhagen is an afterthought. But nothing will boost your career like putting an L on a Nurmagomedov. Umar has done his part of adding to his father and brother’s family legacy, winning 5 straight inside the UFC to stay a perfect 17-0. The interesting part of this one is Usman has a propensity to strike with his opponents, far more than his brother did while Cory has shown he is susceptible to a heavy, aggressive wrestling game. We’ll see how it shakes out but I’m super excited for this one.
Chito Vera vs Deiveson Figueiredo - UFC on ABC 7 - this one has stinker potential. I like Chito, but the man spends 95% of every fight just walking forward throwing nothing. He’s got huge potential for violence. He finished that otherwise one sided beating of O’Malley by hurting him with a bad knee to the body. But he will just let you circle if you want for 15-25 minutes. And I feel like that is a lot of what Figueiredo has built his game around at 135lbs.He’s not the huge powerhouse bulldozer anymore. He’s just a really fast, accurate puncher who can leap across distance. I can see this being a fight where rounds are decided by like a handful of exchanges. But still hyped as I like watching both fighters fight when they’re at their best.
Elves Brener vs Joel Alvarez - UFC on ABC 7 - Brenner is fun. Alvarez is fun. Alvarez is a 6’2 freak at 155lbs who likes to use his size to set up submissions (he’s won all 20 fights by stoppage, 17 by sub). Brener is a Chute Boxe fighter. Nuff said. Should be electric while it lasts. And I don’t expect it to last terribly long.
Dakota Ditcheva vs. Jena Bishop - PFL 7: 2024 Playoffs - I’m not sure if this fight will be competitive. Small sample size but Dakota Ditcheva really looks like the goods. But Jena Bishop is an elite jiu jitsu player and if you’re going to get exposed for your lack of grappling skills as a striker, she’s the type you lose to. Ditcheva is a fantastic striker who has shown some tremendous finishing ability against lesser competition. Jena Bishop will be the best fighter she has fought thus far and it’ll be interesting to see if the knowledge of her grappling skills causes Ditcheva to forego some of her tools to avoid possibly being taken down.
Taila Santos vs. Liz Carmouche - PFL 7: 2024 Playoffs - A weird fight. Feels like with a different bracket, this is the final. This has stinker potential too tbh. Carmouche is not historically a fun fighter and Santos is someone who is more known for giving Valentina Shevchenko a hard time rather than a fun fight. But the interesting thing for me is which version of each fighter shows up. Santos is so content to grapple, wrestle, etc with a lot of her competition and when forced into that type of fight, can prove to be incredibly difficult to handle. Carmouche is someone who theoretically will try to take her down and beat her up with elbows from inside the guard/half guard. But we’ve also seen instances of Carmouche getting an opponent who she will decide to strike with, because the idea of extended grappling sequences seem too much or too risky. I’m interested in that dynamic, even if it makes for a hard 15 minutes to watch
Andy Cruz vs Antonio Moran - It’s Andy Cruz. Of course I’m interested. The rush does not stop. Cruz has fought competition high above the benchmark for guys just starting out their careers. He’s fighting former world title challengers at the very start of his pro career. And working with Bootst team in Philly shows me he’s serious about become not only a world champion but a big player in the sport. He gets a spot on the undercard of Crawford-Madrimov. Matchroom is positioning him for big lightweight fights. And while Antonio Moran isn’t a world beater, he is a guy who is 30-6-1 and been a step up fight for fighters like Devin Haney, Arnold Barboza, and Jose Pedraza.
David Morrell vs Radivoje Kalajdzic - David Morrell was the scariest fighter at 168lbs. HUGE power out of both hands with some really crafty set-ups thanks to that Cuban amateur background of his. But with the politics of the division revolving around Canelo, he decided enough of that and has moved up to 175lbs is search of a big fight. Radivoje Kalajdzic is a fine 175lber in his own right. Not a world champion level but a fine first fight in the weight class with some pop himself. And considering how hard it was for David Benavidez when he made the jump against Oleksandr Gvozdyk, we’ll see how much of Morrell’s power really carries upwards.
Nabil Anane vs Felipe Lobo - I don’t know as much about Nabil Anane as I should but from what I have seen he is 6’7 fighting at 145lbs. A true Muay Thai Sebastian Fundora. And I’m here for it. Lobo is always a fun fight, win or lose. Nabil has won 3 straight in ONE and looked like a killer in the process. What’s not to love?
Dedduanglek vs Nakrab 2 - A rematch of a fight I remember really enjoying the first time around.
Honorable mention:
Caroline Dubois vs Maira Moneo - I had a secret 11th fight I wanted on here. Rare in recent weeks seeing as a lot of folks are taking off for the summer. Caroline Dubois is emerging as a true elite talent at lightweight. With Katie Taylor up at 140lbs, those LW titles are potentially floating in the ether. Dubois is looking to grab the interim WBC belt in a fight against a very game Maira Moneo. Haven’t seen much of Moneo but she has a win over an old but game Erica Farias. Can’t put this in the top ten because I don’t know Moneo like at all but I’m always excited to see Caroline Dubois.
Olympic Wrestling - Olympic Wrestling starts on Monday, August 5th. And to me, it’s by far the most fun combat sport at the games. You got so many fantastic wrestlers competing this year. Akhmed Tazhudinov, Stevan Micic, Rei Higuchi, Hassan Yazdani, Amir Zare, Geno Petriashvili, etc. Mijaín López is looking to become the first ever 5x Olympic gold medalist in Greco-Roman, cementing himself as the greatest Olympic wrestler of all time. Yui Susaki is looking to etch her name as the heir to Kaori Icho and Saori Yoshida and lead the Japanese Women’s Wrestling team into their next era of dominance. American Amit Elor is the future of the US Wrestling team and after capturing 8 gold medals at the world level in the last four years, she’s looking to add a gold medal. Speaking of Americans - Kyle Dake, Spencer Lee, Zain Retherford, Kennedy Blades, Aaron Brooks, Kyle Snyder, Mason Parris, Dominique Parrish, Helen Maroulis, Kayla Miracle, and more. It’s a great squad. They’ll definitely bring home some medals. Looking forward to it!
Feel free to show what has got you all excited this week in the world of combat sports.

1, 3, 12, 18, 26, 30, 37 and 44 for movies/film ask bait. (i would like to know all the answers, but) also, can you name your most favorite character, if there is one? or give me three, so it's not so hard c:
thank you so much for the ask ❤️❤️ answered questions 1 and 3 here!
12. subtitles or no subtitles?
well, english is not my first language but still i dropped dubbed movies a long time ago. slowly switched from watching them in the original english with spanish subtitles, to watching them in english with english subtitles. nowadays I can watch a movie with no subs but I prefer to use them anyways! im used to it at this point and it's not a problem for me
18. favorite actor
i have a bunch! i really like river phoenix both as an actor and a person as I mentioned in the last ask. also kieran culkin, winona ryder, and andrew scott. i honestly don't stan actors anymore but i think they're neat!
26. which movie made you think the most about life?
probably every coming of age film I've ever watched. but specifically, “the long day closes” (1992) by terence davies. it's one of my favorite movies and it follows a lonely, quiet and queer working class boy & his relationship with cinema. it resonated tremendously with me and is the main reason why terence davies is my favorite director. i remember after I finished it i just sat there in my room for a good 30 minutes thinking about what I'd just seen and how it impacted me. it's genuinely incredible, I can't recommend it enough (it's not for the weak though – it's quite heartbreaking).
30. are you looking forward to any upcoming releases?
i think it's released already on the US but not on my country so. “a real pain” (2024) by jesse eisenberg starring him and kieran culkin would be my choice. i've been looking forward to this for almost two years and I can't see it in theaters until january! but im always late on new releases so im not really excited for anything else tbh
37. do you ever watch documentaries?
not as much as I should is the truth. i used to watch animal docs all the time when i was a kid too so idk why i stopped. anyway i really need to get into more documentaries so if anyone has any recommendations, please send them my way!
44. do you like to watch the same movie more than once?
yes! I like rewatches a lot but I tend to limit myself to no more than one rewatch per year for each film because otherwise im gonna ruin the experience for myself. it's like when you listen to a song too much and you start hating it – i still love rewatching movies but not that much
ohhhh regarding favorite characters, that's very hard! to say a few, mikey waters from my own private idaho (1991), frank from little miss sunshine (2006), the sisters from ginger snaps (2000), and every single character from a wes anderson movie!

AU with deleted children (or something like that, I guess :/).
I was thinking that there are indeed some CATCF fanfics that include characters removed from the book. I haven't read many, as I've been more focused on researching the drafts in question. But a couple of minutes ago I thought, what if we took Charlie out of the equation entirely, as well as any trace of the official kids, and wrote something where only the eliminated characters existed?
Maybe there wouldn't even be a good kid, and Willy Wonka would have his family, organize his weekly visits, and have a slightly darker sense of humor, or maybe he is in the plan to find a successor, but none option is minimally favorable (something that has already been done, but with the lifelong characters).
If the concept seems interesting to me, it's because I don't want Charlie to exist here, not even as the black kid who gets frozen in chocolate that Dahl originally intended (or maybe he does, but doesn't find the ticket. A cameo would be nice, come to think of it), and while the precursors to the other brats would be there, they wouldn't be 100% the same. In fact, I think characters like Clarence, Bertie, and Terence could be reversioned with new characteristics if you put some head into it, and have only one of them go away because of the Warming-Candys, or maybe come up with something completely new. You could even come up with a new Marvin Prune that doesn't follow the image of the vain child that other users made tremendously representative of him.
I don't know what I would do with this concept, or if anyone will take it up before me. Maybe, there's not much juice to draw from it, unless I say something like the kids made worse messes during the tour than Veruca did in the golden geese room. I just had an uncontrollable urge to share it, at least with the three people who find this (these kids deserve more attention, in my opinion).
P.S: If I were to put Charlie, I know I'd manage to ship him with someone minimally similar to Mike, and my intention is not to put romance here, more so now that I'm especially inspired with my OTP.

A model of the planned Welthauptstadt Germania
“We work beneath the earth and above it, under a roof and in the rain, with the spade, the pickaxe and the crowbar. We carry huge sacks of cement, lay bricks, put down rails, spread gravel, trample the earth . . . We are laying the foundation for some new, monstrous civilization. Only now do I realize what price was paid for building the ancient civilizations. The Egyptian pyramids, the temples, and Greek statues - what a hideous crime they were! How much blood must have poured on to the Roman roads, the bulwarks, and the city walls. Antiquity - the tremendous concentration camp where the slave was branded on the forehead by his master, and crucified for trying to escape! Antiquity - the conspiracy of free men against slaves!
You know how much I used to like Plato. Today I realize he lied. For the things of this world are not a reflection of the ideal, but a product of human sweat, blood and hard labour. It is we who built the pyramids, hewed the marble for the temples and the rocks for the imperial roads, we who pulled the oars in the galleys and dragged wooden ploughs, while they wrote dialogues and dramas, rationalized their intrigues by appeals in the name of the Fatherland, made wars over boundaries and democracies. We were filthy and died real deaths. They were 'aesthetic' and carried on subtle debates.
There can be no beauty if it is paid for by human injustice, nor truth that passes over injustice in silence, nor moral virtue that condones it.
What does ancient history say about us? It knows the crafty slave from Terence and Plautus, it knows the people's tribunes, the brothers Gracchi, and the name of one slave - Spartacus.
They are the ones who have made history, yet the murderer - Scipio - the lawmakers - Cicero or Demosthenes - are the men remembered today. We rave over the extermination of the Etruscans, the destruction of Carthage, over treason, deceit, plunder. Roman law! Yes, today too there is a law!
If the Germans win the war, what will the world know about us? They will erect huge buildings, highways, factories, soaring monuments. Our hands will be placed under every brick, and our backs will carry the steel rails and the slabs of concrete. They will kill off our families, our sick, our aged. They will murder our children.
And we shall be forgotten, drowned out by the voices of the poets, the jurists, the philosophers, the priests. They will produce their own beauty, virtue and truth. They will produce religion.” (p. 111, 112)

Overstimulated

“If you resist, I will obtain your compliance by force,” U4ia said as she approached Terence Tartarus’s office. The gynoid superheroine was here to arrest the evil, genius inventor and thought his tremendous intellect might let him see the folly of resistance.
“I don’t think so, U4ia,” Terence Tartarus replied in a smug tone. “I think you will be the one complying.”
Suddenly, the office music changed. U4ia picked up a coded subliminal message. “As an artificial woman, I am immune to your subliminal technology.”
A dozen nearby office workers rose from their seats, stripped out of their clothes, and descended upon U4ia with kisses, caresses, and licks. The gynoid superheroine collapsed to the floor and moaned with pleasure.
“You have a directive preventing you from harming the innocent,” Terence Tartarus gloated over the writhing gynoid. “Therefore you cannot strike out against my brainwashed minions. Furthermore, your subroutine for experiencing pleasure can only process so much input at once. The more bliss my minions offer you, the more of your higher brain functions will go off-line. Soon you will lack the will to resist me.”
“I will resist! Resistance is …” U4ia attempted to deny his words, to rewrite her programming, but even those desires were drowning in a sea of ecstatic pleasure. Every processor was pulsing hot with pleasure stimuli. There was no other thought in her brilliant android mind, other than the words she gasped out in mid-orgasm: “Resistance is futile.”

Like what you read? Will you buy me a coffee and request something rich to sink my teeth into? Or peek into the depths of my longer fiction?

Hey there! I've been following and absolutely loving your art and hot takes on Dion and Terence! I can't imagine how great it must feel to have the VA reference and support your art. Congratulations on being awesome! Anyway, I was writing something in the fandom and had a scene sketch I can't use that I thought you'd enjoy: While Dion is away, Terence and some key Dragoon leaders play cards and drink one evening in the command tent. They share stories of those they've bedded recently and swap vulgar jokes freely, but Terence, ever proper stays quiet, knowing his relationship with Dion is an open secret. They urge Terence to be open and comfortable with them because he's their friend, and Terence, seeking an end to the annoying 'one of us' talk just says something like "It's not that I prefer men. It's that I didn't think you'd want to hear about how I took your Lord Commander Bahamut on this very map table last week." And then some young up and coming Dragoon looks at him in awe and announces that "Prince Dion might be an Eikon but Sir Terence is a legend."
That's extremely sweet of you, thank you!! It has been a wild ride, ahaha! You should have seen me among my friends at the night of the panel streaming, I let out a couple of undignified sound I will admit!
He got my seal of approval, he's a tremendously kind dude aha, I'm very touched he liked my works!
As for your idea:
I would have loved to draw it if my drawing ideas list wasn't already 15 ideas long! Considering how the knights act at Northside, I have noooooooo problem seeing that actually happening ahah
Terence is the real MVP of the game, let's face it. He's in a relationship with the prince of an empire/the most beautiful man of Valisthea/ the strongest Eikon outside Ifrit Risen AND was the one to confess. guy got more courage than 50 000 soldiers.

Pound-for-pound star goes for World Title in fourth division in LA this Saturday, live on DAZN PPV
Terence Crawford is out to remind fans why he is considered to be the number one pound-for-pound fighter on the planet when he takes on Israil Madrimov for the WBA and WBO interim Super-Welterweight World Titles at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles this Saturday, August 3, live worldwide on DAZN PPV. Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) is gunning to become a four-weight World champion as he moves up to 154lbs after conquering the Welterweight division with a stunning KO win over Errol Spence to be crowned the undisputed champion at 147lbs in Las Vegas in July last year. The Omaha star, who headlines the first ever Riyadh Season card on U.S. soil this weekend, has already ruled the roost at Super-Lightweight and Lightweight, and now 'Bud' is arrowing in on cementing greatness by relieving Madrimov of his WBA 154lbs crown. “Realistically the next step was to do a rematch with Spence," Crawford told Matchroom. "For whatever reason it didn’t happen, so I had to move on with my career. The ultimate goal was to try to get the Canelo fight. That didn’t happen, so we went to the next best thing. "154 was wide open. I was looking to fight Charlo, he left, so I‘ve got a fight with whoever I could get for a World Title. Israil Madrimov is a tremendous fighter. He’s 10-0, already a World Champion. He’s a tough dangerous fighter. I think it’s going to be an exciting fight. “I think he’s very strong. I think he’s ‘herky-jerky’. I think he’s illusive, he can box, he can brawl, he can move, he can take a punch and that make for a great fight. I know he’s going to train hard. I know his coaches will train him to be the best that he can be and come fight night he’s going to try to do any and everything to dethrone me from my top spot, even though he’s the champion. "He wants what I’ve got and that’s the recognition, the accolades, the pound for pound spot. He wants to be on top of the world like myself. He's going to be filled with so much energy to prove to the world that he belongs in the ring with the top fighters. I consider Israil the best 154lbs fighter in the division right now. So why not go for the top guy in the division, right off the bat? "As for myself, I’ve been here before. This is nothing new. I know how to handle things like this. I know how to go about fighting these type of guys that have a lot to prove. Come fight night I will show the world once and for all, once again, why I’m the best fighter on the planet.” Crawford says he has been hugely impressed by His Excellency Turki Alalshikh's vision for boxing and the switch-hitting dynamo is proud to partner with Riyadh Season for their debut venture in the U.S. “I’m very excited to be headlining His Excellency Turki Alalshikh's first card in the USA," said Crawford. "I’m very excited for the first big event coming to America. Being the headliner of the event is a big honour. It’s going to be a tremendous event. There’s a stacked undercard and I’m just happy to be a part of it. “In today’s age, it’s one of the best undercards that has been put together since back in the day. Pretty much six fights on the undercard could be main events. With that being said, all of them put on one card is a blessing. I’ve been talking to His Excellency for years now. This is the right time for us to partner up and do a big event. I’m quite positive that this is going to be a huge event." Crawford vs. Madrimov tops a blockbuster Los Angeles Riyadh Season Card this weekend, Mexico's Isaac 'Pitbull' Cruz (26-2-1, 18 KOs) defends his WBA Super-Lightweight World Title against Jose Valenzuela (13-2, 9 KOs), former Unified Heavyweight World Champion Andy Ruiz Jr. (35-2, 22 KOs) returns against New York's Jarrell 'Big Baby' Miller (26-1-1, 22 KOs), undefeated Heavyweight contender Jared Anderson (17-0, 15 KOs) collides with Martin Bakole (20-1, 15 KOs) in a an explosive match-up for the NABF and WBO International Titles, Cuba's David Morrell (10-0, 9 KOs) defends his WBA Light-Heavyweight World Title against Radivoje 'Hot Rod' Kalajdzic (29-2, 21 KOs), Olympic Lightweight Champion Andy Cruz (3-0, 1 KO) continues his 135lbs campaign when he takes on Mexico’s Antonio Moran (30-6-1, 21 KOs) with the IBF International and WBA Continental Latin-American Titles on the line, unbeaten Super-Middleweights Steve Nelson (19-0, 15 KOs) and Marcos Ramon Vazquez (20-0-1, 10 KOs) meet over ten rounds and Saudi Arabian Welterweight talent Ziyad Almaayouf (5-0, 1 KO) fights in the US for the first time against Poland's Michal Bulik (6-7, 2 KOs).

Throwback: Terence Trent D'Arby-Wishing Well

Terence Trent D'Arby's "Wishing Well" is how most people remember seeing and hearing him for the first time in 1987. D'Arby had grit and pure soul in his voice that made him one of Otis Redding's and Sam Cooke's musical heirs. He still had much of his boxer physique from his days in Florida when he won the Golden Gloves lightweight championship. His stature was something he had in common with James Brown who boxed as a teenager. D'Arby danced like Brown and wore a suit like him in his video for "Wishing Well." But D'Arby's dreadlocks were a big departure from the straightened hair Brown wore and Prince who he was compared to a lot in the media. D'Arby and Tracy Chapman were the only mainstream Black singers to wear their hair in locks. Those things made him one of the most unique artists of the '80s and early '90s. The combination of '60s soul, cool melody, and hair that was associated with reggae music carved out a path for the neo-soul style that would emerge in the '90s from people like Meshell Ndegeocello and Erykah Badu.
"Wishing Well" heated up the demand for D'Arby and when his debut album Introducing The Hardline According To Terence Trent D'Arby was released in July it sold one million copies within three days. The video for "Wishing Well" was played heavily on MTV and the song would eventually hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. He kept the attention on himself by giving interviews and saying things like his album was the most important since The Beatles' Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. D'Arby was tremendously talented and played percussion, keyboards, and the saxophone on his album. Critics and fans agreed that his music was some of the best of the decade. The album's success earned him the Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Performance Male, a nomination for Best New Artist, a Soul Train nomination for Best New Artist, and a BRIT Award for International Breakthrough Act.
In 2001, D'Arby changed his name to Sananda Maitreya after releasing five albums as Terence Trent D'Arby. He has released eight albums as Maitreya. In 2023, he released the documentary and live album Welcome to the MadHouse: The Costa Rica Sessions. New generations are being introduced to D'Arby and "Wishing Well" thanks to placements like the video game Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City's fictional radio station Vice City FM.
