BLOG CHALLENGE 33/365 THE EARTH HARP.
Location: 1902-1944 S Broadway, Los Angeles, 90007
Date: 26th January 2018.
$$: Free
Continuing my sincere attempt in finding free things to do in Los Angeles, I found myself in Downtown LA again to attend the annual “Night on Broadway”. This event is a part of bringing back Broadway initiative; an attempt to rejuvenate Los Angeles’s theater street. I walked into the festive street with live music, street food, live performances, open house theater and display of community tradition. I had seen the Ferris wheel and heard about the silent disco before, but what struck me here was the Earth Harp. I had no clue what these long wires extending to a 12-story tower meant. At first, I thought it could be a creative art display and started taking random pictures of this piece and saved it as a souvenir of an unconventional evening I spent. Still inquisitive about the harp I came home and started searching the Harp,” it was a music Instrument”. This 1000 feet, illuminated strings piece was the innovation of musician William Close, which he would play with of both his hands simultaneously, while standing. I stuck my head in my pillow, convincing myself of at least witnessing him play, if not in person, and to be get set ready for night on Broadway 2019.

BLOG CHALLENGE 32/365 Venice and Me.
A bicycle ride away from my apartment; is the surf, skate and graffiti land of the beach world. Venice, is as much about its people as its vibe and atmosphere. Venice is the boyfriend you can’t breakup with. It’s wild, notorious and just not tamable; but that’s what makes you come back every time. Bars, cafes, restaurants with beautiful architecture, wide eyed tourists, and carefree happy residents add to the picturesque scenery of the Venice beach. “Venice of America” - Abbot Kinney’s creation on the Venice beach is one of my favorite places to spend my weekends. Hearing the waves and witnessing all the happy smiles around!

BLOG CHALLENGE 26/365 Friends I made this year- Thariq Hussain. Comes from one of my favorite cities - Hyderabad, where I have spent a great deal of my younger years. We had never crossed paths in Hyderabad, but fate introduced me to Thariq as one of my wedding photographers. He only naps in his sleeping bag, loves chai and doesn’t eat on time. Thariq can find beauty in the trivial of things, which makes him a congenial company for a pleasant conversation. With science and smile on this lips, Thariq has a quirky way of getting things done. Till the next time we meet, have your bag pack ready for the missed road trip opportunity. @thariqhussain I miss you and hope to see you soon!!! #justj #travellingkaurtj #2018 #friends #love #weddingphotographer #masti #jammu #travel #passion #wanderlust #aroundtheworld #newfriends #peace #whateveryourheartsaysjustdoit (at Nagrota, Jammu And Kashmir, India)

BLOG CHALLENGE 23/365 Museums of LA- THE BROAD.
Location: 221 S Grand Avenue,Los Angeles, CA 90012 $$: Free
The one best thing about Los Angeles, when you are a student or on a very strict budget is; free events and places to visit. This weekend I decided to make the free list, and start utilizing my weekends by visiting them. First on the list, The Broad. Named after Eli Broad, the founder who financed the $140 Million house of contemporary art. What I found interesting apart from the free ticket was the rotation of the art work during special events in the museum, change in seasons, current affairs and celebrating artists. Even though free, the entry line moves real quickly. Plan your parking and travel by checking their wait time twitter feed @TheBroadStandby.
First thing you do when you get in, reserve a spot for the “Infinity mirrored room”. It is one amazing experience, not describing it all for you to see it for yourself. Till your name moves up on the Infinity list, enjoy the other two floors meanwhile. The oversized dinner table, inaugural installations were the best ones I found. But the one stood out the most; Jeff Koon’s “Blue Balloon Dog”, it has 4 other color versions around the world too. But I got to see the blue. Wrapping up my day at broad, I left with an imaginative clue of history I might have witnessed today. The Museum sure looked modern, but you never know one of the artists must have played a clever joke and hid a historic message in their art.

BLOG CHALLENGE 21/365 BROTHER. There were days when being the parent favorite was a competition between us. T.V hours were scheduled to avoid the fights over remote. I’ve always been jealous of mom taking your side for you being the well behaved, academically flaunt able and yeah, how can I forget you being the national swimmer too. The distance between us over the years, brought us much closer than ever. But there is a certain guilt baggage I carry, for not being there for you in person when I was needed. There are only enough phone calls I could make. But, I am so proud of the young man you have grown into. You are kind, organized and still my shoulder of support. It is amazing how, you are the younger one but act all elderly and mature; yeah, maybe mom was always right about you. This birthday, I wish you finally change your wrist watch and get promoted to a Captain soon. Happy Birthday Bhai!! BLOG CHALLENGE 20/365. GROUNDWORK, THIS MORNING. I am always too busy to have breakfast, mostly because I prefer sleeping in a bit more extra. I know I will be able to grab last minute toasted bread to fill my belly and drink way too much coffee to get that morning kick, not realizing I filled myself to have any kinda proper breakfast. But, it was just a little different this morning. I reached work way too early and suddenly had no emails in my inbox asking for an “urgent” reply. And, in a very long time, I suddenly had time for breakfast. Google search-breakfast near me-4 blocks away-groundwork. Smiley attendant-quick order-8 minutes later- avocado toast and coffee. Seriously delicious, so much so that I may make this as a tradition, of course!! Not every day. But when I am feeling the urge for an amazing cuppa coffee and the best organic breakfast. #justj #travellingkaurtj #instablogger #la #2018goals #coffee #groundwork #love #wanderlust #passionpassport #coffeefix #breakfast #pickupyourtravellingbag #worklife #whateveryourheartsaysjustdoit (at Groundwork Coffee Co.)

BLOG CHALLENGE 18/365 Women’s March Los Angeles. January 20th, 2018 Downtown, Los Angeles, California. 7:30 am. In a surprisingly filled metro train on a Saturday morning, I was accompanied by women from every walk of life. With handwritten posters in their hands and half asleep kids still rubbing their eyes on their laps, the subject matter was magnitude of rage we all were about to be a part of. For me, this was all new. Super unique march signs, Anticipation of walking with strangers, power of collective voice; I was about to witness it all. 40 Minutes later, I walked into a very different DTLA. There was noise all around, but a certain calmness in whomever I came across. Upon walking 1000 feet I realized, I was going to miss the details of the speeches today, for I was one of the 500 Thousand people attending the march and occupying every inch of Pershing square. In true honesty, even at 8am, I was late! Late to grab the front row, late to come up with a poster idea and just forget about volunteering! I kept moving step by step, very slow for two hours to finally reach a stop where I found a group of people ready to begin their march. Women on bikes, followed by more women, whom I started to follow too. Environment, women’s rights, education, healthcare reform, LGBT rights, equality, trump hate - were the images around me. I will remember this day, being a very trivial part of something so big, extremely important and infinitely courageous. #justj #travellingkaurtj #instablogger #2018goals #peace #peace #love #womenempowerment #wanderlust #womensmarch #losangeles #ca #la #pickupyourtravellingbag #ladylike #whateveryourheartsaysjustdoit (at Pershing Square)
