wait thoughts on hades and persephone and selkies

#stories that like. well i'm not saying it's the only interpretation or ALL versions of the story are like this #but stories that are like. in many versions PRIMAL SCREAMS about the isolation of women in marriage and trapedness/separation from their #families/homes???? like the idea that persephone actually can leave her husband and return to her mother for half the year #the way that's a direct mediation i think a well you'll have to stay with your husband for PART but you can go home. you gan #and then the selkies which are not quite identical but the way so many versions of this sound like a scream in a way. the husband who's #trapped his wife from her /land/ (well sea) and the kids and she who can and does leave #not identitical and very simplistic but THOUGHTS #galaxy brain convos with gio the other day on demeter and persephone actually

Okay but what would be class 1-A's reaction if they found out about ice skating and gymnastics. Like specificallly the crazy shit.

Gymnasts going in trapedes without any kind of protection and doing splits mid-air while flying qround. Ice skaters being thrown 3ft off the ground while spinning only to land perfectly with no consequences.

Imagine their reaction to the Olympics, hell, imagine their reactions to skating im general

“Humans can’t fly” Sure they can XD just in very short spurts!

I think traveling along that vein circuses would also be fascinating. Not just trapeze stuff but aerial silks, acrobatic horse acts/ trick riding, those dirtbike daredevil stunts, etc.

Some of these acts would probably look like absolute insanity. These humans are pushing themselves to the absolute brink of their capabilities, pulling incredibly dangerous stunts, but what for? To prove they can? For entertainment?

Sports and games in general do have important roles in development, so most societies (heck most loving things) have them. But to take it to such an extreme degree?

It would all seem so incredibly foolish but also, occasionally, oddly beautiful. Feats like those shine a spotlight on how humans have a rabid drive to live, but also an insatiable need to push limitations. To stare death in the face as they dance with the grim reaper.

No doubt there are blunders and fumbles and tragic accidents, which are heavily documented in the human internet. At the end of the day that never stops humans from trying. Some would call it foolish, others would call it resilient. (Plus a lot of sentients would start to gain a guilty pleasure in human fail compilation videos. You don’t get to those skill levels without taking a few tumbles and humans seem to take failure with some humor)
