Tigran: launching into a story about a time when he was 7 and watched a guy get eaten alive by dogs, completely unprompted and unnervingly blasé about the whole thing.
Etsushir: not listening, warming his hands over the nightly allotment of yams, smoking.
Palo: this is the tenth time he's heard this story, not listening, wondering whether Etsushir is smoking tobacco and where the hell he got it and can he have some?
#Lore:#Tigran has kind of a psychological fixation on people being eaten by dogs. Which is rooted in childhood trauma but it's hard#to tell because he loves dogs and always seems weirdly enthused by the whole concept.#More lore:#They're cooking on a dry dung fire which is very common in the region in general- largely grassland and savannah. Most of the#formerly wooded areas are deforested both on a long scale due to the drying climate and on a short scale of human use.#Wood is a valuable commodity and grown in agricultural regions and harvested with coppicing or otherwise imported by sea.#The northeast has an intact forest that hasn't been widely exploited due to distance from urban centers and impracticality of#transport over land and that's pretty much it.#The Highlands also retain woodlands within the interior but the formerly surrounding forests have been heavily exploited#(due to proximity to major rivers) and were fully wiped out within the past century.#The fact that cremation is the default and expected funerary practice and also used in most sacrificial offerings heavily#contributes (cattle and khait dung is allowable for these purposes due to the animals' sacred status but not considered preferable).#(associated with lower class funerals)#Anyway bottom line dry dung is going to be what the majority of people use for everyday fuel needs and also what pretty#much everyone on the pilgrimage is using (which the wealthier members are unaccommodated to but these guys are)#etsushir#tigran otto#palo apolynnon#the white calf

ok i dont think this is anything related to the watchmaker and all that stuff, but i think its insane that the Family turns traitors into memory zone memes because the concept of the memory zone memes is just that they were created by the true Dreamscape and from the emotions of those within the Dreamscape
this was from the emoscape with Mr McCoy in Dewlight Pavilion, where he was ordered by the Dreammaster to turn his siblings, who were apparently selling information to the IPC about the Family, into memory zone memes, but now i'm wondering just how many people got turned into memory zone memes for being a traitor
I would have said too that maybe the Family - trying to seek out the traitor and the killer of the first Oak Family Head - framed the Watchmaker and possibly turned him into a memory zone meme as well, but the Family is trying to search for the Watchmaker so that's less likely the case. But I just love seeing how fucked up actually the Family can be AND getting more information about the Dreammaster since there really isn't much of anything

the first real experience I've had of being fascinated by technological developments in adulthood is getting on a bus that has charging ports in the seats and a screen displaying the route with an announcer.

Henna not being back in any capacity in the second Mariposa movie gives me two impressions:
1). untapped potential for a 3rd movie where we get Henna reformation or some such.
2).
Mariposa: I wonder how Henna's doing out there.
Willa: ..... what if she's dead 😧
Mariposa: 😨
Tumblr media
Honestly it's entirely possible that she IS dead; a lot of her control over the Skeezites hinged on the promise of invading Flutterfield, and we can see their patience wearing thin throughout the movie. It's possible her failure to follow through would be the final straw, and that her lights would only be able to carry her so far when her entire army is against her. I do like the potential for another sequel to tie up that loose end though, in no small part because "dramatic revenge declaration followed by offscreen death that's never mentioned" is just kind of anticlimactic. Even if it's been a decade and that ship has sailed at this point. We could've had it all. Two fairy trilogies. Also consider: The Skeezites don't seem to be a threat--or even present at all-- in Fairy Princess. They're not once brought up unless in past tense. Regellius brings up Flutterfield defeating them when that's not necessarily how it happens in the first movie(which she does point out but focuses more on the method than the outcome so it's still unclear). Yeah they succeed in driving them off, but if Mariposa's quest or the fact that they've been terrorizing the kingdom for centuries says anything, it's that there are probably way more hanging around than Henna's immediate army. I'm imagining a midquel where she manages to get the Skeezites to hold out for a little longer so she can get her Revenge Plan in, and Flutterfield deals with them for good.

Unveiling Ancient Egypt’s Megalithic Marvels: Secrets of Advanced Engineering
The enigmatic wonders of Ancient Egypt have captivated humanity for centuries. From the towering pyramids to the mysterious Sphinx, these megalithic marvels continue to inspire awe and intrigue. Could these awe-inspiring creations be evidence of advanced ancient technology, or do they hold secrets of a lost civilization?
The Colossal Statues: Titans of Stone
Ancient Egypt’s colossal statues, such as the Great Colossi of Memnon, are feats of artistry and engineering.
Weighing hundreds of tons, these statues were carved with astonishing precision and transported across vast distances.
How could a civilization over 4,000 years ago achieve such monumental feats without modern machinery?
The Pyramids: A Symphony in Stone
The Great Pyramid of Giza is a marvel of architectural mastery, aligned with celestial bodies and featuring flawless geometry.
Some stones used in its construction weigh up to 80 tons, raising questions about ancient construction techniques.
Scholars debate whether these structures were built with rudimentary tools or advanced, forgotten technology.
Transporting Monoliths: Moving Mountains
Ancient Egyptians transported massive stone blocks from quarries to construction sites across rugged terrain.
Theories suggest the use of sledges, ramps, and water-based flotation systems, but definitive answers remain elusive.
Guardians of Eternity: The Enigma of the Sphinx
The Great Sphinx of Giza, with its weathered features and imposing presence, stands as a sentinel to the past.
Some researchers believe it may predate traditional timelines, possibly linked to the Great Flood mentioned in ancient texts.
Its precise craftsmanship and celestial alignment deepen its mystery.
Whispers of the Past: A Lost Civilization?
These remarkable structures might be the legacy of a civilization lost to history.
Evidence points to a cataclysmic event that could have wiped out advanced societies, leaving only fragments of their achievements.
Such theories challenge traditional historical narratives and invite us to rethink humanity’s origins.
Echoes of Grandeur
Ancient Egypt’s megalithic marvels continue to inspire wonder and curiosity.
Whether created through sheer determination or advanced techniques, these structures stand as timeless testaments to human ingenuity.
They remind us of the enduring quest to understand our past and connect with the brilliance of those who came before.
Exploring the mysteries of Ancient Egypt invites us to keep questioning and learning. Share your thoughts on these incredible achievements in the comments below, and join the conversation about the secrets of our shared history.

Anyone who lives in Manhattan and buys a car is just unhinged sorry. You live in one of the few places in the US where it is actively inconvenient to own a car and you choose to get one just because you really love carbon emissions or something?

15 minute cities disgust US conservatives because they need cars. they’re too important as a status symbol & they serve to keep society segregated. being stuck in traffic for an hour is the price they happily pay to not have to walk near groups of people they fear and hate

Shaun (@/shaun_vids)
"you won’t need to drive everywhere!" sounds like a bonus to reasonable people but to a conservative you may as well be trying to sell them on being thrown to a pack of ravenous wolves

union labor with American characteristics (@/ntsfwrk)
Anyone who thinks that driving is correlated to freedom has never had to drive anywhere near a major city. Freedom is having the choice to take the train instead of needing an expensive vehicle that’s more dangerous, inefficient, and stressful to operate.
